Gioteck HF-2 Ergonamic FPS Controller Review

My PS3 controller crapped the bed leaving me looking for a new one fast. I hit up target and saw this. Coming from an avid 360 player i was sold on looks alone. When I got it home I found that there was way more than meets the eye. Not only does it have the same ascetics as the 360 controller, its not as heavy. It has the rubberized paint that gives it a nice grip. The PS3 button actually turns on the PS3 unlike a lot of other 3rd party controllers and now for the game changer. There is a switch on the bottom of the controller that when flipped reverses your triggers and bumpers... So L1 is actually L2 and R1 is actually R2.... For those that have never played a 360 having the fire and aim buttons as the actual triggers and not the top bumpers is awesome. Turbo feature is good, and at first i noticed some dead-zones in the sticks. But you can download a firmware patch from your PC right to the controller and it fixes it right up.

Pro's its a sold all around controller and worth it.

Con's the battery's are AAA, there was supposed to be a rechargeable pack released by the company but I have yet to see one.

So make sure you have some batteries on hand, but it does have good batter life usually lasts 2 days for me playing 5 / 6 hours a day.

For FPS games I prefer the "360" layout of the thumbsticks, and that is something the Sony brand controller doesn't have. This controller fixes that problem by being my official FPS controller for my PS3. The alternate thumbstick layout was the main motive behind my purchase, but the other extras were a nice surprise. The best extra was being able to use it on my PC via Bluetooth adapter. It's a 2 in 1 in that regard. How light the controller feels was a bit off putting at first, but I came to appreciate how light it felt in my hands. The curve of the handles and rubber of the grip gives a really nice fit for my hands. A must for FPS players that want an alternative to basic PS3 layout and/or for those wanting a cheap bluetooth controller for their PC.

Can you explain why it's buggy. What did you do to the controller to aim up on you on time? Did you reset the controller by using a pen to press the button on the back of the controller? Did you uninstall the firmware and reinstall it. Did you take the batteries out and reinsert them.

Honest reviews on Gioteck HF-2 Ergonamic FPS Controller

But its a buggy, overly sensitive and now it doesnt work at all for me. It aims up automatically, and i dont see any way to fix it.

Add a star if you like slow, methodical mysteries with little action.

I love a good mystery game, but I hate point-and-click games, so there's not much out there for me. In the past few years, the best mystery games I can cite as meeting my sort of parameters I can cite are Heavy Rain and LA Noire. So I was excited when I found out that a new Sherlock Holmes video game was coming out.

Wee bit of background: I had not played the Sherlock Holmes / Jack the Ripper game that came out a few years ago (frankly, I didn't even know it existed), nor did I play any of the strictly PC Holmes games, so I can't provide any basis of comparison there. The last Holmes game I played were the two FMV games that came out for the Turbografix and Sega CD way back around 1990.

In The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (TToSH), you basically have an overarching mystery in which Holmes appears to have been set up for the theft of a necklace after having solved the mystery of where the necklace was. As the evidence mounts against him, even Watson doubts Holmes' innocence. During this time, you have the opportunity to play both Holmes and Watson, as the perspective switches between the two characters. In addition, there are several smaller mysteries that you must solve, such as the murder of a bishop.

So far I dig TToSH but I also get that it won't be for most players. On the one hand, I love the whole process of picking up clues and trying to put them together till you reach a conclusion. There is a really fantastic and unique system called the deduction board in which you see all of the facts listed in Holmes' notepad and then link those facts in order to reach a particular conclusion. I liked that a lot, as finally I feel like I am actively involved in solving a mystery and not merely pointing a character in a direction or clicking a mouse on disparate items (although there is some of that as well).

There are some problems with the game though. I'd say the biggest problem is that you can't really proceed from clue-finding mode until you pick up all of the clues which is stupid because sometimes the only clue you've missed is irrelevant. So, for instance, when I was in the bishop's chambers at the scene of his murder, the one fact I missed was that the steamer was full of water, which really didn't add any relevance to the other clues. One thing I liked about LA Noire was how you could miss some clues, and the game could proceed without them, even if it meant you ended up not solving the mystery properly. And other issue is the puzzles, which are occasionally tricky, and not in a way that is always intentional. It's one thing to not be able to solve a puzzle because the puzzle itself is hard; it's another thing to not be able to solve it because you're not sure what the game is expecting you to do. With TToSH, it's fairly easy to hit a brick wall if the player is not particularly clever.

I would also note that the description of the game in many sources, such as IGN, Wikipedia, Gamespot, etc., refers to the game as an "open world adventure". It's not. There is no sandbox. You are given a map with various disparate locations that you can visit. You don't get to explore Victorian London. I'm frankly quite a bit disappointed by that since I was excited by the notion of getting to just stroll around the city. I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm four hours into it and there has been little or no exploration so far.

Bottom line: As a Holmes fan, I love this game. I love the mysteries, I love the detail. No, the graphics are not up to par, and the stiff character faces require some getting used to, and the game could stand to be a bit more atmospheric in terms of shading and music. But it's great having a Victorian era mystery again, as I haven't played a good one since Dracula Unleashed back in the early 90's.

If you require frequent action, then this game really isn't for you. If you don't mind a slow, measured pace, then you could like this a lot, as I do.

Really could have been awesome, like LA Noire. However, you must solve each case exactly the way the game wants, there is a use for each and every item in the game, there is no free roam, you spend a lot of time walking around trying to look at everything to find what you missed. In short, you end up trying to make the game happy. Plus there is a glitch that prevents you from walking through doors or walking away for about five seconds after they open. There are a lot of doors, so this adds up to like ten minutes waiting at open doors spinning in circles. Should have been way cooler.

The characters, story line, settings and artwork are all very well done. But navigating the characters around the crime scenes and obtaining the active item indicator are a pain. They are very awkward.

My son and I had a good time playing this game. The movement of the characters is a little strange at times but it has a good plot.

Before writing this review, I'd like to note that I did not purchase the previous Sherlock Holmes Vs Jack the ripper game, therefore, I can't compare the two. With that said, here's my review-

Graphics-

While I actually like this game a lot; the graphics are not good at all. The graphics aren't even average to be honest, but there are some parts of the game that look a lot better than the majority of the game.

The in game characters look fine as far as the main characters are concerned, but then there are characters that either look identical to another in a different outfit, or, the lesser know characters just don't look good at all. Most of the backgrounds aren't much to yelp about either, and although they're not bad looking, there are certain aspects about the backgrounds that ruin the experience for me. Namely and for example, sometimes grass or plants look too green and at times there's a good amount of screen tearing or graphical bugs.

Speaking of bugs, one of the worst graphical bugs would be getting stuck in front of an open door which happened to me at least 6-8 times. Other bugs included Watson blocking my path one too many times.

Some of the backgrounds looked good such as the Cemetery in Whitechapel or the cobblestone path of the Whitechapel district and of course, Sherlock Holmes office which has a fine amount of detail. I often wondered why the rest of the game didn't look like this. The graphics had potential, but I feel it wasn't given enough of anything to make it more than a below average looking game for the 360.

Sound-

I love the sound of this game. The background music is suitable for games like this, but the voice acting is excellent. At times, the dialogue can be funny with Sherlock and Watson wisecracking one another, but if there was one thing that got on my nerves in this game would be the sound of the footsteps. The footstep sound effects are loud, and I mean extremely loud. Luckily, you can turn down the sound effects.

Gameplay-

Here's where the review becomes a mixed review. I like this game, however, I don't particularly care for most of the puzzle elements.

The Testament of Sherlock is somewhat like L.A Noire, except without fighting or gunplay. Instead, you progress the game based on pure wit. The small number of action sequences are few and far between if any to be honest. With that said, the game is very engaging and easily sucks up a few hours per play.

Sherlock has the ability to use all detective abilities including the help of his partner Watson and his dog, Toby. I have to admit that it felt fun to actually wonder where or who the villain was and every time I got close to figuring out who the killer was or what situation I'd analyze, the trail went cold or the villain was that much craftier.

The best part about this game would be the fact that you weren't given the L.A Noire style interrogation by questioning. L.A noire seemed never to have a good answer or a useful answer, with this game, it's a much different ball game.

This is what I liked about the game. Now, onto my gripes-

With so much mystery and puzzles packed in this game, I'd have to say that the puzzles or clue gathering could be very frustrating most of the time. Not because it isn't supposed to be hard, but because something is hidden somewhere right under your nose and you've little to no clue about how to find it or what to do next.

The puzzles themselves are very hard at times. But luckily, the game gives you an option to skip puzzles based on how close you are to completing them or how long you're puzzled. (No pun intended) I caught myself often saying "WTF, I already looked there/WTF, I already tried that and it didn't work but now it does...really?".

Then, there's Sherlock Holmes Deduction pad in which you'll have to piece together facts in order to conclude this or that...these parts were easily some of the most frustrating parts of the entire game and I didn't care for them at all. Often, I found that solving these parts seemed as if I solved them prior or at least something eerily similar.

With all that said, this game is pretty good. Unfortunately, in this day and age there are so few of these game types.

This is also a pretty long game. Solving anything takes a good chunk of time. This is not a short game.

I recently acquired a Kinect and a new Xbox 360 controller (black with LEDs). My 360, a Jasper arcade, was a boring white. So, when combined with my sleek black Kinect and sleek black controller, my 360 appeared out of place. To remedy this, I decided that I was going to find a skin or a faceplate or something-anythingthat would make my 360 match everything else. Upon searching for decent skins and faceplates for my 360, I was annoyed with the outrageous prices many of them had ($25, $30, $40, etc.). Then, I discovered this. At my time of purchase, I was able to obtain this product for around $10 (with shipping) like the other two Rock Band skins. Although the price is now much higher (due to only 1 seller having it), I am certain that the price will lower again soon. Anyways, I decided to order this product. Upon receiving it, I quickly opened it up and removed the faceplate from the package and then the skins. The faceplate is an excellent quality faceplate (sturdy, well-painted, etc.). Most of the time, a high-quality faceplate alone will cost a lot of money, so I was extremely pleased with this one. Installing a new faceplate is very simple and anyone can do it (even a little kid, though I wouldn't recommend it XD). The skins look very nice as well. However, like many others have said in other reviews, the way the product is packaged creates a long crease down the middle of both of the skins. Installing them can be a bit frustrating if you want them to be on even and perfect (I am a person who must have something like this perfect). Once you have the skins on properly, they really make your 360 look cool. Unless you're specifically looking for them, the creases aren't very noticeable at all. When the skins are combined with the faceplate, your Xbox won't look the same at all. Many of my friends think that my Xbox looks amazing now, and I have even caused one friend to want to buy a skin and a faceplate for his system.Overall, I love this product and am very glad that I purchased it. Now, my 360, Kinect, and controller all match perfectly, and my setup is loved by many.

This skin was easy to install and makes the xbox look completely different. Unlike some others, this one comes with the hard face plate instead of sticker to cover it. As I am not a video game expert, just the mom to two of them, it took me a while to realize the original face plate will come off. Very easy to install, and apply the skins to the sides and top. As the other reviewer mentioned, they seller did fold the skin in half which leaves a crease, but hardly noticeable. For the price it was a great buy.

In short, this skin was very easy to install and looks very professional on the xbox 360.

The skins for the top and the bottom of the xbox, came in a nice package, however, the skins were folded in half.

This wouldn't be a big deal, but this rediculous idea to save space left both the skins with two permanent crease marks through the middle of the skin. Additionally, this comes with a physical faceplate, which is a major PRO

however, seeing as its only $10, came out really nice (and i dont even notice the creases due to the placement of the console)i still will give this item 4 stars

The vinyl part of this which covers the sides is fairly good, however the front panel or faceplate, is useless. it clicks on but won't allow you to use the power button! Needless to say it renders it useless! I tried it on all 3 x-boxes we have with the same results. Before you ask, I am not trying to apply or use it on a slim or similar unit.

I was really disappointed as I purchased mainly for the faceplate. I don't know why these consoles only seem to come in bright colors for the most part. Who really wants to have a bright white box next to the TV? As for the rating, I am being generous with 2 stars simply because the vinyl sides are a nice quality, however why would you want to have an X-Box with black sides and a white front

People online can't understand what is being said and they compared it to speaking underwater. Don't waste your money on this headset. Even the basic one that Xbox puts out is better.

Looks cool. The mic sounds are very muffled. I bought a few different headsets, this was the worst of the bunch. I tested them all by sending a voice message from one LIVE account to another. I really wanted to like this one since I like the idea of a throat mic and a simple ear bud, but this particular headset was a disappointment. Not usable. Not recommended.

it looks cool but sounds really bad. it was discribed as a fuzzy robot voice. strait out of the package. very disapointing! got here fast enough though.

Serves the purpose of a head set but that huge ear piece defeats the purpose of concealing. Overall Pretty good I guess.

I had the cod mw2 throat communicator, which is by far my favorite mic for my 360. My gf, calling herself "cleaning", dropped it in a bucket of water. So I decided to find a replacement mic w the same style, came across this one and gave this mic a try. When I put on the mic, the ends of the mic were uncomfortable and could only bare the uncomfort for an hour. The ear piece was uncomfortable as well. I'm not a fan of earbuds anyway, so these were unbearable. The functioning of the mic was pretty well for about 2 weeks, then it started to have a hard time picking up sounds and eventually died. If you're looking for something short term and uncomfortable, this is your mic.

I am a major Mech combat fan and love the idea of transforming mechs so I went out to buy the game as soon as possible and this is what I found dissapointed me.

The gameplay in this game is... Non consistant. You cant say weather its good or bad becuse it changes with eatch level. On one mission you are sent in to bombard enemy instalations, that is FUN. but on another you are told to basicaly fly around in a big circle with NO enemys for 30mns for 'recon' Its also pretty stupid how if you use any other mode then fighter in the air you will be picked apart just like if you use any other mode then the robot on the land.

The story and missions pretty much suck untill you get to the 5th chapter and, geuss what? YOUR ALMOST DONE WITH THE GAME. Untill then all the missions pretty much require you (alone by the way) to defend someone/something against about 300 guys on a level. Well this isnt impossible it dos get boring after about the second chapter.

The saveing grace for this game is the versus mode. once you unlock all the veritechs, super armor and ground armor it is one of the best 2p games ive seen. Each player choose there vertech, the menuverable armor or the 'I cant move but I dont need to' kind. Then you fly out into large worlds with full transformation features. get 2 skilled pilots together and this game rocks!

Closeing comments: I beat this game and unlocked all but 2 medals in a rental. The story pretty much sux but the veritechs are awsome. Get this game for the 2p version. Sorry to dissapoint you Robotech fans, buy the DVD.

As a Fan of Robotech since I was in the 6th grade (many, many years ago), I may be a little biased. However, I try to rate games from a objective point of view. That said, I'm absolutly addicted to this game. I wasn't overly impressed when I first opened it up last week. The targeting in battloid mode is automatic, and doesn't have the 1st person controls I've grown to expect from games like Halo. That said, I quickly got used to it, and its no longer a problem. That was my only gripe. Otherwise, the cell-shaded graphics are great, and the music is from the television series, also great.

Its pretty obvious that the creators of this game are big fans of the series. the majority of it takes place after the Zentradi battle that decimated the earth. Many of the fights take place in small townships or ruined cities...everything you'd expect from a world that has mostly been destroyed.

This being said, I believe someone who is new to the show will like the game once they get used to the controls (being able to change from fighter/guardian/battloid is great, though the small game boundries isn't), but anyone who knows the show will probably love this game. Its hard not to.

Really, If you've invesed in the DVDs, I strongly reccomend this game.

Best Deals for Robotech: Battlecry

If you've never heard of Robotech, this game will seem average at best. You'll be intrigued by the whole transformations thing, but you won't get it. You won't be amazed by the music or the new planes or the abilities of each new veritech, and you definintely won't get the paint schemes. Overall, you'll be like... decent plot, okay graphics, and okay gameplay. You just won't understand.

But...

If you are a robotech fan, this is a must have! Though you do not follow the Macross Saga timeline, they allow you to follow it enough to get you attached and then go off on a believable and interesting story. It does help account for the many Zentradi that survived the battle, since you fight so many in the game. The ability to switch modes on command is amazing. The cut scenes are not the best and some of the machinema, just plain sucks, but it doesn't matter, it's robotech. Every vertitech is in the game, and sometimes, you'll get surprised with a new one you didn't think was coming. All the paint schemes are there, from Rick's to Max's, to the infamous SKULL ONE!!! The Boss battles, seem like they would be monotonous, since there is a pattern to beating the enemy, but for some reason, it's more of an adrenaline rush. Everything about this game is fun... except the protection missions. These get old FAST. I viewed them as a challenege, but it really kinda sucks, protecting something that cannot protect itself. Multiplayer is also lacking in this game. There is only one on one, which can get boring pretty fast. And a flight ceiling in some levels sucks, but makes sense for the point of the level. With such a low flight ceiling, you'd be surprised by how big the space missions are. You can literally fly anywhere, practically. The graphics are perfect for the game, as it emulated the animation from the series. The music is good, and although the sound effects are repetative, they are the same sound from the series, so it works for a fan. You will love launching salvo after salvo of missles and targetting five guys at once and unleashing your payload. They created a realistic balance between the three different modes, giving each its own individual strength. The main point of the game is to play through and beat it, but striving for the different medals and promotions adds a new level of gameplay and causes you to increase your skill and proficiency in new and old areas.

For the Robotech fan, this game is a must. It has all that you could ever want in a robotech game, minus the better multiplayer.

I own it and love it.

Honest reviews on Robotech: Battlecry

The RDF (RoboTech Defense Force) has A-LOT of confidence in their Veritechs. Basically each level is done single handedly by you with one Veritech (There is minor support but insignificant as it really doesn't seem to make or break an outcome). Sometimes this soloing seems reasonable and other times just absurd. I recall the level "Cat Scan" were you're supposed to escort a recon unit doing her rounds amoungst 20,30...Zentradi. So it's basically you and a recon unit with minor defensive weapons VS a small army. When you fail the mission (and you will fail it, unless you happen on the "trick" right away) the game barks at you "What were you thinking", or something along those lines. It didn't take long for me to think "What was the RDF thinking putting only one Veritech out?", or at least "What were the programmers thinking when they assembled this level?"

That being said if you can get past the "One Man Army Syndrome" the game is pretty fun eventhough you have a very limited "arena" to play in. It has alot of neat visuals, good music (based on, but not the original North American Macross Series, and that is really too bad!) and good control(X-box)(once you get used to it!). One more thing, with the gameplay, music and cell-shading combined it began to feel like the cartoon after a while.

This game is crazy. Its one of the best games ive ever played. The only problems are the missions are severley repetetive and u cant fly very high, but other than that its awesome. Although there never is a mission where u have enough room to do maneuvers like firing a salvo of missiles and then changing into battloid mode to realy fight, or do some coolio spin move then fire some missiles and then fly upward and straight down again. But this game is 10x better than that ripoff Robotech Invasion. But its still one of the best games ever. (Xbox version is best).

Crash is almost a must-have on the Xbox.

It's fun for everyone in the family (my 7 year old played it without a problem but younger kids may not be able to). It will keep you busy for a while (there are about 25 different levels to fight through, plus 5 "bosses" and you can revisit levels to get more lives or other bonuses). There's almost no learning curve.

It's just plain old fun!

If you liked Fuzion Frenzy, and you don't mind single player games, then you'll like Crash.

Some complain that it's graphics aren't breakthrough but they are certainly sufficient for you to clearly see what is going on.

The only real complaint: I wish there were a 2 player mode.

First sitting I was worried that i just wasted 50 bucks. The game feels very diffrent than playing Naughty Dog CRASH.The reason it feels strange is cuz this game was developed by Travelr's Tales.Wich means the artistic value is kinda missing, the controls feel a little weird at first, also the camera seems akward...So i was not really enjoying this version of CRASH. But I kept playing and sure enough started to love it (got used to the change)...there are some sweet suprises thrown in. If your a returning crash fan looking for CRASH for the year 2000 get Naughty Dog's new baby ((jak and daxter)) on PS2...But if you just want a new Crash with richer graphics gET THIS GAME.

Or if your someone who has never played crash and have an xbox go and buy it. This is only the FIRST next generation CRASH and I can't wait for more...I think CRASH will still be a cool game for the next 5 years. this game is kinda slow but is really fun at times!...you heard it from Lunar Larry

I've played every Crash game ever made but nothing could prepare me for the dissapointment I felt when I bought this game for the Playstation 2 system. The load times were LONG to the point of really making the game unplayable. Everytime you wanted to change levels you had to wait an ETERNITY for the levels to load up. But I really wanted to play this game so when the XBOX version came out I bought it hoping the load times would be much shorter. And that they were. The load times average about 7 seconds on most levels and once you get past that the game is actually a lot of fun. The graphics got a little touchup, nothing fancy, but the fur coating on Crash really looks cool. I will say that although this game is rated for EVERYONE, it is a very tough game. Younger children might have a hard time with this one, heck I've been playing video games for over 20 years and even I had a hard time finishing this one. Great game but not much new or innovating here. Just your standard Crash on the run game! Good but not outstanding. Definately worth the [] bucks it costs now though.

Honest reviews on Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex - Xbox

The game is average in just about all aspects: graphics, gameplay, and storyline. The game doesn't provide anything over the standard Mario-type-smashing-crates-and-collecting-fruit game, but is still fun, nonetheless, and provides a good amount of play time. Many of the levels are too challenging for younger players. There are some levels where the player "dies" by missing a jump, falling into water, and drowning. I thought the image of the character floating face down in the water wasn't appropriate for younger kids. For the most part, though, it will provide entertainment for all ages.

There are some things in life that just help keep things FUN (albeit frustrating at times). One of those things is a Crash Bandicoot game. I've played the first two offerings for the PSX but have basically stayed away from Crash since then. But my trusty old Xbox needed something new so I decided to give CRASH BANDICOOT: THE WRATH OF CORTEX a try.

Any gamers familiar with the old Crash games will find the controls and graphics as reliable as ever. The formula also is solid (5 stages per level 5 levels in all) giving players the ability to choose where they go in each level. Levels vary from basic platforming to running from charging onslaughts to vehicle levels to underwater levels to battling bosses. Some of the levels are a cake-walk while others will leave you with "rage building!" (I like to throw my controller and utter some favorite words). The most frustrating apect on this new offering (and the only downside) are certain levels that leave the player with tricky camera angles and poor depth perception.

Aside from merely winning a level and getting your gem, Crash allows numerous areas for repeat playing:

1) Find and destroy every crate per stage (harder than you think) to get a BONUS GEM! Collecting all these gems opens up new areas.

2) Getting through certain stages without dying to open up a Death Gauntlet where hidden gems await. These hidden gems will then open up new stages on other levels.

3) TIME TRIAL! Try to conquer a level in record time. The game saves all times and completing all 25 levels this way opens up even more hidden wonders.

All in all, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex will keep any platform gamer happy for days (weeks if you're not very good). It's not the greatest game in the world but it does manage to capture the two key essentials of any good game...

IT LOOKS GOOD AND IT'S FUN!

First off, I just want to say that I love the whole Attitude Era aspect of this game. Just the fact that players can recreate some of the biggest matches in WWE history is awesome. As a side note, I was at the King of the Ring when Undertaker threw Mankind off of the Cell, and let me just say, it was so much fun to recreate it fully in the game.

WWE 13 has a lot of good things going for it, and this review will accent some of the finer points, as well as the not so finer points.

Gameplay: Gameplay for the most part remains the same, one button to hit, one to grapple, one to irish whip and one to block. This time around, there are three modes of play: Exhibition, Universe and Attitude Era.

Exhibition is more exciting with the re-adding of Special Referee and I Quit matches, neither have been seen for a bunch of games.

Universe has expanded for the Wii, and probably the other systems as well. Players have complete freedom to place shows for any day of the week. Case in point, I made a show on Saturdays that just feature the Attitude Era wrestlers, as well as their monthly pay per view (adding these to the calendar is needed to unlock one of the hidden wrestlers).

Attitude Era gives players the chance to relive some of the greatest moments during the Monday Night Wars, from the birth of DX to Stone Cold's wrestlemania wins to the two Survivor Series Screwjobs (Bret Hart and Mankind, respectively). Players are given the choices for how to complete the matches. They can either beat the matches their own way, or they can follow a set of historical objectives, which harkens back to the Legends of Wrestlemania Game, to unlock new characters, new arenas and new belts. This incentive makes Attitude Era a little more difficult.

Just a warning, while the matches are not as difficult as the ones in SDvR 2011 or WWE 12 (by WWE 12, I'm referencing the numerous broken backstage brawls that popped up during the course of Road to Wrestlemania), there are a few difficult matches in the mix.

***Spoiler Alert***

One such match involves hitting two finishers, the second of which must slam the opponent through a table to disqualify your character. It wouldn't be so hard, but developers imposed a five minute time limit on it. So the match actually took an hour to complete (numerous retries).

Graphics: The graphics are Wii quality. Once again, they're a little more cartooney than their HD counterparts, which isn't really bad. The characters look like who they're supposed to look like. The Godfather still comes out with his girls and dances, Dude Love does his funky walk down the ramp, even Brock Lesnar looks awesome as he makes his way down the entrance ramp. Arenas, once again, THQ has outdone themselves. Each modern arena looks exactly like their counterparts, but the Attitude Arenas, they really hit the nail on the head with those arenas (My favorite so far being St. Valentines Day Massacre). The only negative thing I can really say about the graphics is the fact that the audience (as well as JR, King and Cole) kind of look ugly during the matches.

Sounds: Sounds are a mixed bag on the Wii. The entrance themes sound great, and the announcing is better than it has been, especially the banter between JR and the King during attitude era. This, I'm afraid, is where the good things end. I noticed on the Wii, that sound effects don't come over too clearly. In past games, I've heard colisions, slams and punches. THis time around, they come out as very low, if anything at all. Similarly, sometimes it's hard to hear the audience, while other times, it's like they're screaming and I'm scrambling to turn the volume down.

Create a Wrestler: Create a Wrestler is back, I haven't fully made a wrestler yet, but I've browsed, trying to make Angelina Pivarnik and Sgt. Slaughter CAWS. I will add more on this once I finish a wrestler.

Things missing: As usual, Wii owners can expect not to get DLC (though we do get Tyson in the course of Attitude Era, he is not unlocked at the beginning). Wii owners also lack the HD graphics and the ability to create their own arena, which is definitely a let-down for people who want to make completely new shows in Universe Mode. Superstar threads are gone, which to me cancels out the idea of this game being a No Mercy killer. One thing I liked about No Mercy was the ability to update characters (I remember that I had about ten characters in Right to Censor at one point due to my No Mercy storylines with friends).

All in all, WWE 13 is a nice addition. The Attitude Era and Universe modes give the game a lot of replayability. Unlike last year, if anybody wanted to replay a match in the story mode, they don't have to restart the whole chapter.... each match is available for replay once players have unlocked it, which means that players will not have to go back and play the matches leading up to it. Which means I can spend a lot of time re-enacting the epic KOtR battle between Undertaker and Mankind.

Buy or Rent: Definitely a buy, to me, this game is a lot more fun than WWE 12, and possibly just as fun as Smackdown HCTP. -Enjoy

Note: The Following Review is Long

In 2007 the original Bioshock came out and added a layer to gaming that few games have been able to do. The game was not nearly as big of a success as other titles of the year such as Halo or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but it quickly seized hold of an enormous cult following that became very emotionally attached to the game. The game was so beloved and so much of a success that when Bioshock 2 came out a year later it couldn't have hoped to be as beloved. After all, the original Bioshock was groundbreaking from a narrative standpoint. A game that reached so high any game which followed it couldn't hope to come within an arms length of its legacy. Nevertheless, Bioshock Infinite is here and it reaches. In some regards, perhaps even higher than the one that started it all.

You play as Booker Dewitt. He's got some debts to settle and believes he can do so. He must first venture to the floating city of Columbia. There he must rescue a young woman named Elizabeth. But it will not be easy. Columbia is a city ruled under the watchful eye of Father Comstock, a prophet who can supposedly see the future. It isn't long before Booker realizes that rescuing Elizabeth and escaping the city of Columbia will be much more difficult than he imagined. Quickly branded as a false prophet, Booker comes under attack.

Like the first game, Bioshock Infinite is a very thematically ambitious game. One that begins to elevate storytelling in gaming. There will surely be a lot of discussion to follow with this one. There's a lot of care taken with the world in which it takes place in, as well as with some of the themes it handles. And Bioshock Infinite opts to hold very little back. Here you'll be tackling themes such as racism, religion, false prophets, gender roles, even moments that will test your own morals. It's got a lot to say. The story and the world also come to life in the same way that Rapture does. While Columbia is not as dazzling as the trip into the underwater world, it does have a pulse just the same. You'll find Voxphones scattered throughout. These, like the original Bioshocks audio diaries, add a lot more to the tale at hand. They add to the story, the world and the atmosphere. To ignore them is to miss out on a considerable portion of the game. For those very curious about the world they're playing in, they will most certainly want to pick these up.

From the outset it doesn't seem as though there is much which separates Bioshock Infinite from it's predecessor. Indeed, it takes a moment to get there. Many aspects will be familiar to you from the outset. Instead of Plasmids, for example, you have Vigors. These allow you to do things such as possess machines and make them attack your enemies, or hurl explosive fireballs at your foes. If there are crows an area you can even turn them against your foes. There's a lot variety with the vigors, as well as many different ways to use them. There is a limit, of course, you need salts to be able to use them. Like the original there are also vending machines around where you can use currency to buy upgrades for your vigors or guns. You can also restore health.

Unlike the original, however, you don't stock up on health packs that will be used immediately when your life reaches zero. Rather you have one life gauge that doesn't recharge at all. You must find food or other means of sustenance to restore your health. There is, however, a shield you'll get early on that does recharge. If you can find cover in the midst of a gun fight or keep from taking damage your shield will recharge and you'll be ready again. This seems like it'll make the game particularly difficult at first, but Bioshock Infinite is not too challenging in and of itself. Sometimes the enemies can come in large waves. But should you bite the dust you are never punished too harshly. You'll respawn really close to where you died and you'll be given some health and some ammo. Your enemies will also have some of their health restored as well, so whatever killed you is usually still lurking. The only downside is that there will be times when you respawn and you'll need to take time to adjust to your surroundings. Though you never respawn far from where you've died, there are times when you'll feel disoriented and turned around when you do.

There is also gear you can put on to help you out along the way. These will enhance your abilities. And if you mix and match things will change. One piece of gear, for instance, allows you to run faster when your shield burst. Another lets you set people on fire when you attack them. This adds a layer of strategy and gives you a different means of approaching the bad guys. Get enough variety of gear and you'll be able to create different "builds" for your character. You might think of these builds as various job classes from an RPG. This all provides many different ways to tackle many of the big firefights in Bioshock Infinite.

Chances are you won't die too many times. Bioshock Infinite's biggest change to gameplay is adding Elizabeth into the equation. Elizabeth will accompany you throughout much of the experience and as such she is a companion. This isn't some game where you'll have to babysit, though. Elizabeth can't die. Although she will supply you with ammunition and health if you need it. This little tweak can make the game a bit easier than it has to be, but it won't make death impossible. She also helps you unlock doors when you come across them, although it is just a tad bit strange that you

What really helps Elizabeth along is how well realized of a character she is. How she develops and her facial expressions give her a lot of life. To say much more than that would be to spoil a lot of the fun of the game. Booker is not a bad character, by any means, but the story quickly lets you know it isn't about him. He's a man with a simple mission, but this is much more her story than his. She is truly a loveable and charming character. Not that Booker is bad, but he's primarily there to make sure you experience the story more so than to add a lot. While he makes commentary and quips (that are mostly to provide hints of where to go) every now and then the game makes no illusions about who is the star of the show here.

That being said, because of such a huge emphasis on its narrative and story, Bioshock Infinite often has a real clear path for you to go. It's a very linear game where you'll rarely (if ever) find yourself lost. That doesn't mean you can't explore. There is plenty off the beaten path where you can go off track for a moment to find gear, vigors and sometimes even going so far as to find a sidequest or two. If you ever find yourself exploring too much, a tap of a button will show the way to go in order to get back onto the right path.

Most areas are not too big, but they are filled to the brim with a lot of details. For the most part, Bioshock Infinite doesn't look that much different than the previous two games. This is fine as they were gorgeous looking. Here there is a lot of detail to the world. One of the chief criticisms lodged at Bioshock 2 was that we'd already explored quite a bit of Rapture. A return there wasn't exciting enough. Columbia definitely is. The tone is very similar, but the atmosphere is not. Instead of going down dark corridors you're exploring a lot of open spaces. Not everyone you meet is someone who has lost their mind either (and some do not even care to try to kill you). Especially in the beginning moments of the game, you may come across citizens having idle conversation. Likewise, where as the original Bioshock was pretty dark in its environment, Infinite is not afraid to let the sunshine in. Many of its set piece moments stand in contrast to the original.

The audio is just as good. The sound effects are great. But what is the most rewarding is listening to the voice acting. All the performances are great. Comstock, in some cases, can be downright haunting (particularly listening to him on Voxphone). It helps to make a pretty engaging experience. If there was anything about the presentation that might be a bit of a nuisance it might be that from time to time the frame rate can get a little choppy.

Bioshock Infinite is not for the weak-hearted however. It's a violent game with some pretty gruesome death moments. Nothing to cringe worthy for those who have played the original Bioshock or other violent games. What makes it more startling is that there is a much deeper context to much of it here. As in, moments in which you'll see innocent people brutally murdered before your eyes or treated very poorly. Much of this is put forth for thematic or story driven purposes. It can be brutal, but it isn't here just for the sake of shock or as a means to see how far they can push the envelope. There are many things thrown into Bioshock Infinite as a means of either reinforcing how horrible the bad guys are, or reinforcing how horrible the society you're in is. In particular, a lot of it seems to be done as a means of showing the player just how cruel this world really is to those they do not deem to actually be worthy. The enforcement here is to show the player how wrong this "utopia" they've found themselves on is.

If there was anything about Bioshock Infinite that immediately sticks out like a sore thumb, it would be some of the "choices" and "decisions." Some moments you're able to make certain choices by pushing one trigger or another. The problem is that the impact of these choices isn't really clear--if they even manage to change anything at all. At the beginning of the game, for instance you can choose to throw a baseball at a couple or throw it at the MC on stage. Regardless of your decision things will play out the same. It isn't particularly obvious if this has any lasting impact. It has a bit of an impact later on, but it doesn't really have a major impact on the story.

Bioshock Infinite isn't a perfect game, but it is a great one. A thematically ambitious game with a well told story, Bioshock Infinite is sure to delight fans who fell in love with the original back in 2007. It is a game that not only delivers well from a gameplay standpoint, but from a narrative one as well. If you enjoyed exploring the world of Rapture in 2007, then you'll love going through the land of Columbia, here.

Bioshock Infinite is just about everything I've spent the last three years or so dreaming it would be. Many of the more cynical folks out there seem to be annoyed by all of the glowing praise this game is getting. Personally, I can understand how this game could drive even a professional critic to embarrassing hyperbole. Bioshock was always in a 3-way tie with Dead Space and Assassin's Creed as my #1 favorite new franchise that started this console gen. The shoddy and bug-ridden AC3 late last year pretty much knocked it out of the running. I really enjoyed Dead Space 3 last month, in spite of some changes I didn't agree with. This game puts Bioshock way, way out in front. I definitely have a clear winner in mind now.

What I *really* want to comment on is how much of a shame it is that last week's exclusive IGN review poisoned the waters for those who will play the console versions of this game. Their reviewer went out of his way to point out that the Xbox and PS3 versions are not as graphically impressive as the PC version (gee thanks for the news, Capt. Obvious) and he accused them of having "sup-par lo-res textures, even for consoles" or something along those lines. As soon as that review went up, the disappointment spread like wildfire. Gaming forums all across the internet were awash in the blood and tears of console owners who were devastated to hear that Bioshock Infinite was disappointingly not up to snuff.

Well, I'm happy to tell you that, thankfully, it's a big load of b.s. As far as 360 games go, Bioshock Infinite looks absolutely fantastic. It compares with games like Gears of War Judgement and Halo 4 in virtually the same way that Bioshock 1 compared with Gears 1 and Halo 3. Like any 360 game, including Halo 4, if you go looking for blurry textures you will find them. Some textures are not meant to be viewed up close, jackass.

Bottom line, this game is beautiful, even on the 360. If you haven't played the PC version, you should have no cause for disappointment. And y'know, even if the graphics did suck, the awesome game play would make up for it. This is way more of a robust shooter than either Bioshock 1 or 2 ever were. And don't get me started on the sound. I just bought a set of Astro A40 headphones w/ mixamp last week, and using them while playing this game is proof enough that they were worth every penny.

I admit I did see one flaw in this game: They dropped the "save anywhere" system (which I always abused and will not apologize) and converted to a typical checkpoint/auto-save. In a lot of games, this wouldn't bother me at all. But in Bioshock, where you spend so much of your time roaming around huge areas scrounging for resources in every nook and cranny you can find, this is a big mistake. It really sucks when you get killed and have to back and re-scrounge everything you'd spent the last 10 minutes gathering. Also, I felt some mild disappointment when I realized that some of the cooler/weirder new game play features shown in demos back in 2010 and 2011 ended up on the cutting room floor. But all in all, this doesn't even put a dent in the overall quality. Nothing worth removing a star over.

Honest reviews on BioShock Infinite - Xbox 360

A review from a REAL gamer and fan of the Bioshock series... ME!

I waited to finish the whole game on PC before writing a review as I am quite a fan of the first 2 Bioshock games. I played with a 360 Controller and it worked beautifully, so this review applies to the Xbox version as well. You will definately want to install this to the HDD if your Xbox 360 has the space as loading from disc can sometimes cause hangups on loading in the Xbox version.

I know that the rumor mills and PAID game reviews are saying this is the best game of all time and has achieved the mythical 10 out of 10 and that every gamer should own a copy... Well... I have to say that is just not true. The coveted 5 star, 10 points, or 100 point review scores are lying. A 100% score from a gamer is basically saying that a game with that coveted score is a GOD among all other games and that all other games should bow down before it and kiss its feet. Everyone should own a copy even if they only play flash games online. I do not feel that is the case here and is pretty much hype or just new players that have never played the first two Bioshock games.

Before people start exploding with anger as to why I only give it a "meh" 3 out of 5 and not 4 or higher is that, as a part of a SERIES of games, this one is a step BACKWARDS from the previous games. If this was its own game, in its own universe, and not connected any way to the original 2 Bioshock games; I would give it 4 out of 5.

I have to say this is a VERY SHORT GAME, they could have done so much more with this to get it up towards the amount of content that the first two games had, near 15 hours or more, but it looks like the Bioshock series has fallen to the DLC monster and time constraints that so many big game companies are forcing upon games now. I went all through the game and explored every little inch I could in the game, and it came out to under 9 hours of play time.

Since this game IS titled as part of a series/established universe, I will rate it as such and compare it to the previous games. I believe that ANY new game in an established series should ALWAYS try to out-do and improve upon the previous games.

Here we go:

FirstReplay Value: The original Bioshock games were all about CHOICE and DIFFERENT paths and MULTIPLE ENDINGS to add what gamers like me call the holy grail of gaming known as "Replay Value" or "Replayability" and what companies call "Lots of people buying our games"... This is what makes a game worth buying over just renting, beating, and never playing again. Bioshock 1&2 had SUBSTANTIAL side quests that sometimes took an hour or more to complete, and were quite in-depth. There were many choices to be made that would change all manner of outcomes in the game and would give different endings. Bioshock Infinite seems to give you the ILLUSION of choice during the first 1/3rd of the game and then everything is set on rails from there. As for side quests, there really are none other than quickly exploring a side building with under 3 rooms in it and a few cypher loot hunts. You get the same ending in Bioshock Infinite no matter what you do in the game.

SecondSetting/Atmosphere: While the settings of the first two games are underwater and quite gloomy and atmospheric, even claustrophobic and frightening with sporradic placing of some enemies... Infinite is mostly in the open air and bright sun shine with open spaces, and what I call "Arenas" where you KNOW bad guys will be attacking you, so it has a completely different feel from the first two games, and just does not feel very... Bioshocky.

ThirdThe Weapons... In The first two games the weapons were very steam punk like, and you could see the upgrades you bought as they were added to the weapons. Such as spinning gears on the shotgun or the extended capacity add-on sticking out the side of the revolver. I loved the design of the weapons in the first 2 Bioshock games. In Bioshock Infinite you get rather plain weapons, some of them feel like copies of other weapons you already get in the game with maybe some red paint on them or such... They get no visible upgrades either. Instead, the upgrades are in name and text only with no change to the weapons visually.

FourthAmmo Types: There were DIFFERENT types of ammo in the first two Bioshock games: Armor Piercing, Exploding, Electric, and so on, with varying strategies to go along with nearly every enemy... Bioshock Infinite, none of that, just one type for each weapon and, to me, it felt like the basic enemies took a lot more hits to go down and ammo was much more scarce, especially near the end of the game. Pray and spray.

FifthPlayer Engagement: Bioshock 1&2 were very engaging all throughout the game, always making you wonder what might happen next or when some enemy may pop out at you since enemies were not constrained to just appearing in wide open spaces. There was quite a bit of backtracking and revisiting old areas with new things unlocked. Much fun could be had while playing the game in a darkened room. With Bioshock Infinite it felt so.... FPS Typical... Enemies drop out from the sky, shoot em', clear this area, move on, clear next area, move on, with very little backtracking or encouraged exploring or random encounters.

SixthEnemy AI/Character Design: This is where Bioshock Infinite FAILS MASSIVELY! In Bioshock 1&2 the enemies were downright scary in how creative they were, they would stalk you, or flank you to get you from behind, or would run away and hide at times, popping up in entirely different areas. They would look for you if you ran away or hid. Every fight was different. The enemies/splicers in the first two games all seemed to be different, unique, and quite memorable in their own ways. One thing Infinite gets right is the main story characters facial expressions, especially Elizabeth... If they had spent as much time working on the game as they did her expressions, this would have been a much better game. As for the AI in Bioshock Infinite the enemies just come at you in mindless waves as if this was a Serious Sam game, they don't hide, they don't stalk you or look for you... They all know where you are with their magic radar sense. So just lots of shooting at generic police, rebels, robots, and heavies that all stand out in the open waiting for your bullets and powers to splatter their faces. Or the opposite, friggin' stands right on top of you Zerg rush style. All while they shoot mindlessly at you or at the item you may be hiding behind while you are required to run around like a chicken with your head cut off. I really did not expect Bioshock Infinite to have AI that is this downright TERRIBLE after the amazing experience from the first two games.

SeventhPowers and Abilities: Those that have played Bioshock 1&2 know the massive amount of plasmids and abilities you could get and upgrade, you could play the game how you wanted, even as a stealthy character with some of the upgrades. In Bioshock Infinite it has been broken down into weapon upgrades, and I believe only 8 vigor abilities, with 4 clothing power up options. Infinite just feels "Dumbed Down" and over simplified from the previous games with NO STEALTH/invisibility this time. It has had most of the strategy taken out and just turned into a "run and shoot".

EighthGraphics/immersion: The game is quite stunning graphically; in the first 1/3rd of the game it is engrossing and enjoyable... But... As the game moves on it feels like they were in a rush to reach the end so it is just not as immersive as the first two Bioshock games. The graphics from the first two Bioshock games were and are still amazing, especially when it comes to water effects. Infinite just did not feel "on par" with the previous games or even when comparing to some of the newer games out there. It does look good but not jaw dropping good. Though, in all honesty, I couldn't care less about graphics as some people are but it seems important to some.

NinthControls: I played the game for a short bit with keyboard and mouse and the controls were decently simple, typical FPS. Same for using the controller which I played the rest of the game with... Obviously the game feels better with a controller than the keyboard and mouse, since it was made for a controller.

TenthThe Writing/Story Telling: Bioshock 1&2 were absolute masterpieces in original Videogame writing and storytelling, fully fleshing out the world and characters and making it hard to guess what was coming next, while giving some rather hard choices at times that would change the game play and ending possibilities while in the end giving a good feeling of closure and satisfaction. Bioshock Infinite is more of a... Well... Without spoiling the story, as convoluted as it seems to become, look up the definition of "String theory" and the game may make more sense in the end. Otherwise the story of Bioshock Infinite may sail over the heads of certain gamers. Since there is only one ending for infinite, it just doesn't feel complete or like it would have made a difference any way you went.

THE BOTTOM LINE TL;DR: Short Game... NO REPLAY VALUE! Horrible AI. Fun, but not very Bioshock feeling compared to previous games... It IS a fun FPS game on its own, but just didn't feel like Bioshock. Biosomething but not Shock in any way.

RENT IT for a console system and play through it before you even THINK about buying it.

Or so it would seem. How can you top Bioshock? It would seem like an impossible task. But Ken Levine and Irrational thrive when being challenged. Similar to his days at Looking Glass and the critical success of System Shock 2, Ken Levine and Irrational floored people with Bioshock. When Bioshock released in 2007, its creativity made people notice the work of Irrational in a more mainstream capacity, giving Irrational a lot more credibility with publishers, which would ultimately lead to many, many years of developments on Infinite. Was the wait worth it? Two words: Hell yes!

Bioshock Infinite is a Bioshock game, period. I know it looks different and may seem different, but a lot of the things from Bioshock are in Bioshock Infinite. While Infinite has its own look and everything, which makes it feel new and fresh, this is a Shock game through and through, so you have a mix of the familiar with something entirely new. The combat is very similar to the first game, but guns have more of a kick this time around. Plasmids also make a comeback in the form of Vigors, which allow for a lot of variation and experimentation in combat. There's also the inclusion of sky-lines, which make some fights really exciting and frantic. I'd say the combat scenarios are an improvement from the first Bioshock. You'll also be looting the environment and corpses for money, food, salt (for Vigors), etc.

Bioshock's art direction is simply stunning. It takes a very talented art team to pull off something like Infinite, and the team at Irrational was definitely up to the task. The amount of detail in each and every environment is staggering. You'll definitely understand why this game was such an undertaking and took so many years to create when you see it in action. Then you have Elizabeth, which is one of the most realized characters in all of gaming. Elizabeth's animations and interactions are one of Infinite's many highlights.

But Bioshock Infinite is ultimately all about the narrative, which it delivers on from beginning to end. This game's story is hands down one of the best in the business, even going as far as surpassing the original Bioshock. While Bioshock was a masterpiece, its ending left a little something to be desired. But this isn't the case with Bioshock Infinite. This game has an ending that'll blow you away.

Irrational chose the impossible, they chose Infinite. Would you kindly buy this game immediately?

I hadn't seen anybody else talking about the 360, so i thought i'd add this. This game is compatible with the 360 and it is awsome! The black and white buttons on the xbox map to the "bumpers" on the 360, so all works quite well. This game is one of the most addictive games i've ever played. I highly recommend it for adults and mature teens who are already desensitised to gangs and violence.

I've beaten both versions of San Andreas (ps2/Xbox) and I can honestly say that it is the greatest game I've ever played. Anyone who disagrees with me has obviously never played it all the way through or they used cheats to do so. GTA San Andreas is all out amazing and blows any game out there away. That is of course until a new GTA game comes out for the Ps3 or Xbox 360. If you've never played a GTA game or you didn't like the other GTA games, you still have to play San Andreas.

I didn't even start playing this game until after I beat GTA IV when a friend recommended I check out some of the earlier games in the series. It's absolutely phenomenal! If you can deal with the certainly less-than-spectacular graphics when compared to current popular games (especially GTA IV), I promise you'll have a blast! There are actually many more side missions and fun things to do in this game than GTA IV. Even after beating the main storyline, you'll still have hours upon hours of extra tasks that you can complete. Rockstar should have remade this game for GTA IV. A must buy!!

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

This is by far the best game I've ever played. Sure, it's so inappropriate it's laughable, but that's not the point. This is a revolutionary game, with probably one of the biggest worlds ever made in videogames. The radio is amazing, the story makes sense, and even though it's a GTA game, it still has family values. CJ tries to find out who killed his mom with his brother as they bring the Grove Street Families back from the grave. Excellent!

PS: To the kid who wrote the review about this game, with all due respect you really don't know what you're talking about mate. People don't buy this game because it teaches them great values, they buy it because it's a great game. It's not like after beating this game, I'm gonna go grab an AK-47 and go on a police massacre. Also, it says 'A Kid's Review'. That means you're under 13. This game is for 17 year olds and up...

How is it our country is so messed up to allow such a violent game be sold then pull it off the shelves because of a little sex scene. I walk up to the old grannies in the game, stop them into a bloody mess then track bloody foot prints (or tire tracks) as I leave. But show two consenting adults having sex and the game gets pulled. Sex is not illegal. The violence is. I think it is totally bassackwards. The game is sweet either way, for adults anyway. I need to get GTA 3.

Game is really easy for young kids to be able to play. I bought it for my 4 year old nephew and ended up playing it also.

This is a good game with lots of exploring that your little ones will like. It is not a shoot em' up game. My sixth grader is a little bored with it but not my second grader.

I bought this for my 12yo grandson for his birthday. He has really enjoyed playing it while not knowing anything about Starsky or Hutch prior to this. The game was sent quickly and packaged well.

I don't know how this game plays with one player, but my brother and I played it with a light gun and steering wheel and we had more fun with this than many other games! We're in season 3 now and can't stop playing it!

Honest reviews on Starsky And Hutch Xbox

Seriously, this is the worst xbox game I've ever played...it's game based on a gimmick, it's frustrating to play, and I thought using a Lightgun with it would make it more fun...but it doesn't. I have 37 Xbox games, and this one is the only one I regretted buying. Really, this game sucks.

Punch-Out!!

As a fan of the original Punch-Out!! titles on NES and SNES, I knew that this game was a must have for me. Having finally played the title yesterday, I am glad to report that it certainly does not disappoint! This is hardcore Punch-Out gameplay at it's best!

The thing that I love about Punch-Out!! is that, like the original games, it really isn't a brawler. You can't button-mash your way through the game. Rather, it really is more of a puzzler, in that each opponent has a "tell", and a specific fighting style. Once you have him figured out, it is just a matter of countering him. Don't be mistaken, however: this game's difficulty get's hardcore really quickly (much like the original games!). For instance, last night, I was able to breeze right through the Minor Circuit (using the motion controls), but in the second circuit (Major Circuit I believe), the fighter "Great Tiger" (a welcome import from the original NES game!) gave me a really hard time! I found myself REALLY challenged, much to my delight! Also, much like the original games, once you defeat several of the players in the game, you get to fight them again later in the game.... however, their fighting style (the puzzle element of the game) has completely changed, and the difficulty is ramped up drastically. I am confident that this game will provide hours and hours of gameplay. Anyway, here are some of my observations about the game:

LOVED-

*Art style everything is hand drawn, colorful, and animated. This game looks great, and doesn't take itself too seriously. Also, several humerous head-nods to the original games were included (lik Doc urging you to join Club Nintendo ringside!). Also, some of the knockout animations (like the original games) are REALLY satisfying and funny. When I knocked out Disco Kid, he spun around like a top and hit all four corners of the ring while making pinball machine noises. Now THAT'S classic Punch-Out!! if I've ever seen it!

*Difficulty one thing that games are missing these days is hardcore difficulty. The original Punch-Out!!, as well as titles like the Contra series or the Mega Man series tended to be so difficult at times that you were tempted to throw your controller at the wall! There is nothing worse to me than just breezing through a game. I was pleasantly surprised that, even though I knew how to beat most of the fighters that I have faced so far (since they were in the original games), they still were no push-overs this time around. The characters are FASTER than they were in the old games, and the motion controls ad a new dimension of difficulty.

*Achievements this game has a simple achievement system where you are challenged, for instance, to beat a character in one round, or with only right jabs, etc. Achievements are something special for any Wii game, since so very select few developers are including them in Wii titles. This ads loads of replay value in my opinion (I am STILL trying to get all the trophies unlocked in Smash Bros Brawl! What can I say... I'm a perfectionist!)

*Multiplayer the game includes a simple multiplayer mode where you play head to head with a friend as Little Mac. It is really simple, but it is fun. I only wish that you could have played as other boxers and that some kind of online play was included... but this was still a welcome feature!

*Controls Wii Sports Boxing was fun, but really left me wanting a great boxing title where the motion controls really work well. Punch-Out!!, while not really a "Boxing" game (it's no Knockout Kings for sure!), has implemented some really smooth motion controls. Rather than relying solely on motion controls, you simply swing right and left. You hold a button while swinging to do an upwards swing, and press a button while swinging to do a star punch. The motion controls are simple, and they work. Later in the game, as the difficulty ramps up even higher, I have a feeling that I will switch to the classic NES controls rather than the motion controls (Wii remote on it's side), as this will allow for more speed and responsiveness (since a button press is always faster than a swing of the wiimote), so I'm glad this was included.

Disliked:

*Could have included a few more original/new boxers

*No online play

All in all, this game is really wonderful. Certainly a must-have for any hardcore gamer who owns (or is thinking about buying) a Wii.

I was skeptical at first that Nintendo would be able to recreate the fun of the original game without radically altering the basic elements of what made the game so great. The original Punch-Out!! had somewhat repetitive game play but there was a ton of enjoyment to be had in figuring out how to KO the fighters that the overall experience was very memorable. I was concerned that a direct translation of the original game play elements to the Wii with no modifications would result in a repetitive and shallow experience. I'm glad to see I was wrong. There is more depth and strategy to this remake than meets the eye, and the 2-player, exhibition matches and challenges add multiple levels of replay value. The basic high-level strategy remains the same as the original you are Little Mac, a scrappy boxer fighting his way across the minor, major and world circuit. Eventually you can take the title and fight to defend it. As you beat various characters, you get to see the cut-scene for the next opponent. Cut-scenes and other unlockable content then become viewable in the gallery. The Wii expands on the original Punch-Out!! by including various "challenges" that you can undertake during the exhibition matches. Example challenges include K.O'ing an opponent with 6 punches in a single match, finding an opponents "weak-spot" and knocking him out with one hit, winning a match without dodging/ducking/blocking, etc. I won't spoil anything by saying what happens when you complete a challenge but these add plenty of replay value after you've jabbed and uppercutted your way through the world circuit. The exhibition matches are also great for practicing against an opponent without affecting your ranking, as career mode will track your win/loss record.

The characters from the original are more charming than you remember and the "celluloid" style (not sure if that's the exact term) of animation is interesting and takes advantage of the somewhat limited graphical capabilities of the Wii ("limited" when compared to the 360/PS3). You won't even notice that the Wii isn't rendering zillions of polygons and textures a minute because the cut scenes and character mannerisms are just fun to watch. Parents should note that even though this is a boxing game, the "violence" is quite comical and there is no blood or maliciousness. Overall, this is a must-have for fans of the original and Wii fans looking for a solid gaming experience.

Games on the Wii have a hard time standing out. With so many systems out there, developers try and cater to as many tastes as there are gamers. With Punch Out, Nintendo had a difficult choice. Make a game for everyone or try and develope something for those hungry hardcore gamers. Who says you can't have it both ways?

Punch Out is a puzzle game that demands some memorization and quick reflexes. As you fight against the 13 regular fighters, they will telegraph their attacks and give little tell signs of how the will go about hitting you. Learn those attacks (easier than ever by going to the exhibition mode and practicing) and jab your way to the top for a title bout.

After the initial bout of fights, you become the champ and all former boxers return with new and improved techniques. This is when the game turns reaaally hard. But the good news is that nothing beats winning a close fight where you almost lost, having your buddies cheer you on and passing the controller around, of which there are various options. Old NES controls are great, even if I liked the motion controls better.

As someone who has been playing for over 22 years, I remember having a blast with the original Punch Out. The best part about this one is how it reminds me of all the fun I had with that game and at the same time feels like a whole new experience.

Honest reviews on Punch-Out!!

Ironically I have never beaten the NES or SNES version of the game and even after 20 years of not playing the original, I still have Mike Tyson's code etched into my brain from trying. I beat this game in under two hours. I feel like so much more could have went into this game. The very first thing I couldn't get over is the fact that the opponents blink red when you're supposed to dodge them. I feel like THAT feature could have been incorporated into a "training mode" if the developers thought the game was too hard. It takes away from the whole point of the game which is to recognize when to dodge and counter. I had trouble with Aaron Ryan but my coach told me what to do so THAT was easily remedied. Also another downer in the gameplay is that your uppercuts almost always connect. In the old games, harder characters would easily block them unless you discovered a "sweet spot". Next, there wasn't enough variety in opponent attacks and a lot of the attacks were identical to the originals so I knew exactly how to avoid and counter them. Maybe I'm oldschool but I hate infinite continues. I actually liked working my way back up the ladder if I failed. Now you can continue right to the last guy you fought. I have no need or desire to go back and fight a previous fighter. I hated the cut scenes too. If you're going to kill the gameplay, at LEAST spend some time fluffing it up. The intros/outros/end-of-the-round scenes offered very little variety... but then again I missed a lot by not needing more than one round most of the time. The only excitement I got was the anticipation that the game would get harder. I'm sorry that I can't give this game more stars... I really want to.

Things that I actually DID like: The animations and the nastalgic feeling that I got staring at the box.

Things to keep in mind: I used the classic method of playing... not the balance board or the nunchuck. Also I played the the original religiously (but obviously not religiously enough to beat it). Either way my view is going to be harder which is proved by all the other great reviews which I have not read. If you're new to the game, maybe you'll have a different experience. Rent it first.

all ten of the original punch-out circuit fighters are back from the original punch-out plus two from super punch-out and one new fighter.

would have liked to see more than 13 overall opponents, but the ones that have returned have the same familiar moves and strategies from the original game with alot more personality.

exhibition mode allows you to match up against opponent holograms to learn their moves without taking damage so you can go into the fight prepared.

while you may beat the game in a day or two the replay value is what is important here. in title defense mode you have to defend your belt against each fighter in succession, but they are much, much harder. let me just say that i had just defeated this game with little difficulty and i got waxed by glass joe, who now wears a helmet and cannot be damaged by facial punches. then von kaiser waxed me three times before i tko'd him. these are not the easy fights you have to get out of the way before the real challengers. exhibition mode is available for the title defense contenders as well so you can get practiced up before you go in for the actual fight.

also, once you have defeated the game the exhibition mode turns into a challenge mode with three unique challenges per fighter. these are the original circuit fighters and NOT the title defense versions, mind you. for glass joe you have to knock him down three times and lose by decision, find his one-punch knock-down and beat him without dodging, ducking or blocking any punches. on disco kid you have to find 5 ways to get a star punch, TKO him with six punches and win the fight with a 3 star punch, etc. challenges are also available for the title defense contenders after you have defeated them in title defense mode.

so even if you end up beating the game fairly quickly, if you like a challenge you will definitely spend plenty of hours in title defense mode and finding ways to complete the challenges in exhibition mode.

as for the controls, the nunchuck/wiimote combo can be a little awkward toward the end, but both are fun and very accurate.
