My name is Christian Hunter, and I'm a complete gaming physco. I've played every popular first person shooter since Doom and Rise of the Triad (I spent collectively 2 years of my life playing Quake 2). Yes I'm sick, but you can probably trust my opinion on gaming...This one has been my favorite FPS for the past year.

There are 2 very important reasons you should buy this game:

1. It's an exceptional WWII FPS

Jaw dropping graphics (that don't crush the average players system), the ability to be infantry of various unique types, then jump in any one of numerous vehicles, then jump into any number of different aircraft. Totally flexible, insanely fun, very popular too (good for multiplayer gaming).

2. It's an even better modern-day-warfare FPS!

What you say! Yep, Battlefield 1942 has the most popular "mod" (game modification, meaning the game has been redesigned around a new theme, etc..) of 2003; Desert Combat. Desert Combat uses the same fantastic engine as 1942 but is set in modern time. Helicopter Gunships, SCUD missile launchers, A-10 Tank Killers dropping naughty explosive goodness!!!! Why am I writing this review, I should be playing!

Ok, once you own the game, you can go to to download the free mod for it.

Hope this review was helpful.

Enjoy...!

The multiplayer demo of this game, which just has 1 map, 2 sides, and not all of the vehicles from each of those sides, has already proved to be extremely addicting and fun to play.

There's just so much you can do and so many possibilities, since you can jump into and out of any vehicle instantly and play as one of 5 infantry classes. Even your infantry class selection is flexible, because you can quickly drop your current kit and pick up a dead infantry's kit from the ground, effectively changing your infantry class on the fly.

Also, the weapons and vehicles are all very well balanced. For example: the rocket that the bazooka/anti-tank infantry class fires doesn't do much damage to infantry, unless if it's a direct hit. This makes players have to choose the best kit for what they want to do, and ,unlike Quake and other action games, rocket launchers wont dominate all aspects of combat. They are, however, good at what they're meant to do: destroy tanks, with their shaped-charge explosives. Just the way everything fits together is so beautiful, and there's always a counter for every weapon and vehicle.

The gameplay is so open ended that you can get pretty creative. I've done things throwing all my explosive packs into a japanese jeep (as an engineer), getting my detonator ready, driving to an enemy base or battle, jumping out of my jeep and letting it roll into the middle of enemies, and then blowing it up to get a few kills (especially when they get inside to drive it while my explosives are still in it, hehe) and other crazy things.

The demo has already become the 2nd most played game on GameSpy, beating all others except Half-Life (which has a ton of mods since it's been out so long), so there will probably be a large playerbase, making finding servers easy.

The system requirements may be a little steeper than some other games, but it is well worth it, and the game runs beautifully. (I can run the demo, all graphics options maxed at 1024x768 32bit, on my athlon 1.4 ghz 512mb ram GeForce4 ti4200 128mb at a smooth and high framerate) The models are very well detailed, you can see the eyes on the infantry moving and blinking, and their mouthes opening and closing. The level of detail system allows this by scaling down the polygon counts and stuff as vehicles and infantry get further away from you, and increasing details as things get closer to you, so there's no wasted visual performance.

This game is like many games in one, and has something for everyone that likes action or war games. My favorite genres are action games and flight sims, and the way this game mixes it all together, in an accessible, balanced, and action packed sort of way, is perfect.

The place...Europe and the Pacific...the backdrop...the world at war! In Battlefield 1942 the action of the Second World War comes to life. Take command of an infantry soldier and from their, build your own image of war! Jump into the seat of a Sherman, grab a jeep, hop into the cockpit of a Me-109, sail a battleship, or just remain as a soldier on foot wreaking havoc on the enemy! This game lets you do it all, the game play system makes even the most computer inept people masters at the game, no realism to deal with, jump out of your plane and parachute to the ground, commandeer an enemy tank and roll down the road plastering anything you see! Once your number is up...do it again!

After the debacle that was World War Two Online, many of the WW2 gamers fell away from the respected titles that followed, and Battlefield 1942 offers the same that WW2OL offered, but this time it doesn't intend on making the same mistake! There will be no pay-to-play requirement (no need for internet at all with the bot program!) The game gives a reliable system that will allow the player to achieve what they really play these games for in the first place...to have fun!

The game will get people back into World War 2 and will have them begging for more! Though the game is labeled "1942" it takes place at any given time during the war, with technology that would have existed not until 1944, but there is no need to look down on the game for such a small oversight! The battles that you fight in will be ones that any WW2 aficionado will recall with little trouble, Tobruk, Stalingrad, Normandy, Market Garden, Midway, Guam, and fictional Pacific and European battlefields to boot! The game also sports a single player campaign as a sort of introduction to how it works as well as recognizing the fine AI the game employs.

There is no ten minute walks to get in the fight, no time consuming loads after you die, no technical capture points systems, or realistic vehicle specifications. You play the game like any game, point and click, watch and enjoy! With the World War 2 backdrop, this game will reintroduce the word "war" to the gamers vocabulary with whole new meanings...I hope you will enjoy this game as much as I will!

Honest reviews on Battlefield: 1942 - PC

Battlefield 1942 has seen extroardinary growth in its short time on the PC. Already, it's online numbers have passed up other popular WWII first-person shooters such as Medal of Honor. While it's nowhere close to Half-Life's online population yet, it probably resembles Half-Life's early life more so than other shooters. The game is quickly building a large custom mod community just like Half-Life did and popular themes such as modern desert combat that were never part of the original WWII theme have already built a life of their own. Before you get too excited, there is one important thing to know about this game it's really only meant for online multiplayer. You can play the game offline by yourself but it's boring with a capital B. And if you truly want to experience the best maps and servers in BF1942, you'll need a high-speed connection such as DSL or cable. If you don't have this connection, don't even bother buying the game because it's not worth it. It doesn't have a typical single player campaign like most shooters, it's basically a platform for large maps and epic WWII shoot 'em outs. Epic as in 64+ player maps, all-out vehicle combat including fighter planes, battleships, submarines, infantry, tanks and jeeps ALL in the SAME battle! The game has never flowed as smooth as other online shooters for me, and I found more lag issues with BF1942 than other recent games, but I hear EA has been busy patching up most of the frequent problems. One unfortunate selling practice with EA though is that they tend to release plenty of expansions for any popular title. Honestly though, I don't know if you really miss that much sticking with the original BF1942. As I stated earlier, there is already a huge custom mod community for this game so even those with only the game itself can experience new maps and game formats. There are already plans for official Vietnam and Star Wars themed games that use the BF1942 engine. This game will be around for a while and if you enjoy the system of play, you'll definitely get your money's worth.

Battlefield 1942 is by far and away the best multiplayer game out. Counter-Strike held this title and paved the way for a game like this, but the immense maps and multiple options (Driving tanks, jeeps, APCs; Flying fighters, dive bombers, heavy bombers; Manning ships, coastal guns, anti-aircraft)

Including the option to be different types of soldiers (assault, engineer, medic, scout, anti-tank), this game blows away all others.

Teamwork is the name of the game, if you are really interested in winning the maps. You can go RAMBO and try to wipe out the enemy by yourself, however you will usually only result in eliminating more of the enemies then you, and most of the objectives (IE: strategic markers) will fall to the team playing in unison.

Gameplay is excellent, especially taking into account all the simultanious action going on in such a large map. Realism is right there with the fun factor, just the right blend.

The only real drawbacks are the components necessary to run the game. If you are thinking of buying this game, seriously consider purchasing a new video card first. The GeForce MX cards are compatible, however you will need to make some tweaks to the configuration of the game and/or the card itself in order to have satisfatory play. That means you miss out on some of the features that you could have, like full detailed textures and shadowing, etc. Its not a major difference but big enough in my opinion to suggest upgrading your video card. Get a GeForce Ti card (IE: GeForce 3 Ti 200, or better) or an ATI Raideon card. Also if you are running Windows 98/Me, you should consider upgrading to 2000 or XP. The machine should realisticly have at least 256MB of Ram and be running a processor speed of at least 1.0Ghz. Those are baselines, my machine is 2.0Ghz and has 1.0GB of RDRAM with a GeForce 3 Ti200.

Many people have also complained that playing with dial-up (56k) is a waste of your time. I cannot say one way or another. I have a cable modem and have never tried dial-up. The game claims it will support dial-up, although I would doubt it could be anything but laggy. If you want to play this game on dial-up, try to get your computer specs as close to what I wrote, then at least your not lagging out on both sides (your connection, and your system). You can still play effectively with a latency of less than 300ms, however your gameplay will seem choppy at times.

Battlefield 1942 was just was I was dreaming for, and then it came. I am very happy with this game!

Portal 2 really has it all. The characters are likable, the story line is engaging and intriguing, and the game play requires you to use your brain. Having played Portal 1, I can say that in my opinion this game is better.

I have to start with Wheatley. This character is voiced by Stephen Merchant, who is from The Ricky Gervais Show and An Idiot Abroad. He's hilarious in his own right, and he voice acts Wheatley to perfection. You can't overstate just how much Stephen Merchant's voice talents lend to the success of this title.

Depending on your ability to solve the puzzles quickly, Portal 2 will give you anywhere from 10-13 hours of game play with a single player play through. There's more, though! Portal 2 has a co-op mode, so you and a friend can take on the Portal 2 landscape together, which is a lot of fun. The downside of all puzzle games, of course, is that the replay value is relatively low. That shouldn't disuade anyone from purchasing this game, though. It's that much fun.

The puzzles are definitely challenging and require you to think, but they're not unreasonable to the point you want to quit in frustration.

I gave it a 4 out of 5 overall due to the replay value not being high. This should not take away from the game itself in any way. It was handicapped from the get go just due to the genre. Had they added the ability for users to create and upload their own puzzles to the rest of the Portal 2 community, this game would get a solid 5 out of 5 from me.

Portal 2 is a great game worthy of your collection.

I know a lot of people are going to write excellent reviews about game play etc. I wanted to make a quick note about how outstandingly funny this game is. The comedic writing is excellent throughout, the timing and general performances (from Stephen Merchant in particular, but the whole cast too) are spot on and I have been laughing out loud while playing the game on my own. I never laugh when I'm alone.

The game is rated E for everyone, but I'm pretty sure that some of the jokes might go slightly over a 8 year-old's head. That is a huge plus in my book. I have played a few other Xbox360 games that were supposedly funny (Battlefield Bad Company 1 + 2 for example), and they left me cold. Juvenile this game is not.

So yeah: Challenging puzzles, original and hilarious writing. What more could you ask for?

I've only played the 2 player, but I'll update after I finish the single player campaign:

Wow, just wow. When I got this game, the first thing I did with a pal was tear into the coop. This is one of the freshest, most original games in a long time. Having 4 portals is just insane. The map is divided into what are essentially "worlds" connected to a large hub, and you select which you want to go in. At first my friend and I were worried because we were flying through it, but suddenly right in the middle of world 2 we had to slow waaaay down and really think it through. It only gets harder from there, but never unbearable. Glados also keeps the mood up with constant cracks at the players, so just when you start to get frustrated, she'll say something to make you laugh.

CONCERNING CAMPAIGN LENGTH: I have 3 sections left in what is the last "world", but it's safe to say that the coop campaign length clocks in at roughly 7 hours.

There are a multitude of fps's released so far this year and most of them feel very much like you've played them before. If you want a truly unique experience, pick this up.

Honest reviews on Portal 2 - Xbox 360

Creative, entertaining and extremely funny. I wish there were more games like this for the Xbox. Unfortunately, it seems that they all involve massive amounts of blood and gore instead of thought provoking puzzles.

I am really enjoying this game. The puzzles are challenging and game play is fun. Beware though if you have issues with motion sickness. I can only get through about 20 minutes of gameplay before I get queasy. Online, I found many people suffering from the same problem. It has not stopped me from playing!

I just recently have found myself owning a Playstation, and you need games to use it properly right? Well I rented this gem and let me tell you...what fun! I had never before in my life played any Tomb Raider title, I knew that they were quite popular so I thought that I'd give it a try. At first I was really mad-I own a N64 so I was used to a certain kind of game control, and it wasn't the kind that Tomb Raider The Last Revelation uses. I kept thinking "What is the big fuss-you can't even control her! What is everyone thinking! . This is so twisted and sick". I worked at it and soon found out why Lara's adventures are wildly popular. They are so fun! I got used to moving Lara(I don't use the joystick)and soon was having so much fun that I never want to put the game away. Searching through the ancient Egyptian tombs is a blast. I am really into to Egypt so I may be a bit partial to the scenrio...but I can't help it. So far the game is quite a challenge, it makes you think; finally accomplishing whatever puzzle you are stumped at it a great feeling, and I don't look forward to returning it(which means I have to make a purchase very soon). I ordered Tomb Raider Classic because it was a good price(...-you can beat that) and I think I should start at the beginning anyway, but don't worry I will pick this title up too.The graphics are great and the training level was very very helpful. Like I said I haven't played any of the other games in the series but I look forward to trying those out as well. When all is said and done this is a great game and I am very happy to tell you about it.

TR:LR is excellent! The story, the graphics, the gameplay -even the replay value -are top notch.

I was worried when I read that this TR would return to the first, in that Lara would primarily search Egyptian-like tombs and areas. I thought this meant the environments would get old, but they don't at all. The places Lara explores are all related, but there are still tons of nice surprises (like a level on a speeding train), without the zaniness of TR3 (like Area 51 and pitch-black London skyscapes). Gone are the incredibly hard, unclear objectives of TR3, as well as the stupid vehicle levels.

There are even new features to this game -you can save more than one game on a card (though it takes two spots per game), you can collect different types of ammo, combine items, and use laser-sight add-on and binocular/flashlight items.

This game definitely deserves a look. If you're a fan of the series, but it right away and you won't be disappointed. If you're new to them, rent it (or buy it, even) anyway.

No official licensed teams or players and no online. Hmm, sounds like a gutter ball from the start, but alas, when it comes to fun factor and just the joy of a quality video game, I couldn't put it down. Up front and to the point, I'm not a soccer fan and probably never will be, but I'm amazed how a video soccer game sucked me in like a tractor beam. As most fans know, Konami gave up on basketball and it seems they put all their time and energy into their only sports title for 2005, Soccer. Yeah, the name "Winning Eleven" is a stupid name for any game, but don't let the dullness of the name steer you away. The game plays brillianty, I don't know the rules or even the strategy for playing soccer, but I had a blast playing it. The graphics are stunning and this uses some of the XBOX muscle! My buddies came downstairs one night at my home and poked their head around the corner and asked why I was watching Soccer on TV, it really looks that good. The replays look like they were drained from sport center on ESPN, I've never seen so many seamless motion captured moves by the players in my life, players getting tripped up, gettin laid out, incredible kicks, dives, jumps, head butts, all amazing and stunningly realistic from start to finish. The staidums look amazing too, although the crowds still look like cardboard cutouts from the old Playstation days. If there was a bit of a downer, the game does not support widescreen TV's to the fullest, I want my 720dpi mode, but doesn't offer it. Darn. But on regular and HD TV's, most will be 100% satisfied with the offerings. As a single player game, you'll rejoice with the tons of mode offerings, but if you want to get the most out of it, find a friend and get hooked on one of the best multiplayer games ever. My friends were hooked from start to finish and will definitely be back for more.

The game does not have acutal licensed teams, uniforms or players, which means no famous names. But does anyone in this world really know the full roster for Brazil or Kenya? But don't think the game is unrealstic, every statistic and rating for the actual boys are all in tact here, just rub off the names and their actual uniforms. I think there is a customizable uniform option, so be sure to get some red while and blue for the good guys.

Flaws in the game? No online is a bummer, not sure why Konami would not offer that, but oh well, multiplayer still rocks and it's the best 2-player game I've seen come along in a long time now. The sound is just ok, the commentary is a bit repetitive and the music is atrocious, but the grunts and sfx on the field are great and the crowd roars like there is no tomorrow. Everything else is spot on, and this game puts E.A.s' FIFA series to the test. Thanks Konami.

I have played all of the North American W.E. games since WE 6 and I have to say that I am impressed with the consistent improvements that Konami has done with this series. Below is my review based off the PS2 version:

The Winning Eleven games have all had one thing in common: tremendous and realistic gameplay. Not only does WE 8 continue this tradition, but the game also adds on welcomed new features that compensate for the lack of online play and club licenses that is synonymous with the FIFA series:

On the pitch referee

When fouls are committed, you'll witness a referee run up to the play to either warn the player or toss out a yellow card. What makes this neat is that you have the option to select which referee will be the decision maker for your game. One ref that is not made available is Pierluigi Collina, who is heralded as being the best ref in the sport. That's a bit of a bummer but doesn't really do much to affect the game

Free kicks now involve two kickers

Yep, that's right. By using the select button (on the PS2), you have the option of using two kickers from the spot. This now only adds to realism, but strategy as well since you have more than one person at getting around the wall during free kicks.

Advanced moves

In previous versions of W.E. you had to be real adept in using the buttons to get around your opponent. Although you still need to be pretty skillful in maneuvering your man, you can use the R2 button to perform stutter steps and more fakes to get around the defender. Playing against the computer on the highest difficulty will show you how hard covering the AI has really gotten.

Improved AI

As great as WE 6 was, the AI wasn't overly difficult. WE7 was better at working on this but now, WE 8 has really added to this department. You'll find that if you play the same two teams 3 times, you'd be pressed to win all 3 games in a row. The defense of the AI has hard to get around unless you really are adept in passing well. As I said earlier, offensive AI is hard in its own right in that the addition of trick moves makes it hard to cover your opponents one on one, especially if the opposing player is a star such as Ronaldo, Zidane, Henry, etc. You'll also never score the same goal twice (unless it's a penalty kick). The AI is just too good in this game.

Improved graphics

This is easily the best looking WE game in the series. Although FIFA has been renowned for their graphics, I really think WE is not that far behind anymore. You can easily make out players such as Beckham, Schevchenko, Figo, etc. Heck, you can even witness Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United along with his huge earrings. Animations are numerous in this game as well. Players complaining, goal keepers trying to motivate teammates, players pushing each other after a hard foul was committed all add to the fun factor in this game. You'll even see dirt stains on players' jerseys after a few minutes have passed in the game.

Deeper Master's League

Although I have yet to try this part of the game, I have been told that this is the bread and butter of the game. Basically this is the part of the game where you take a team over the course of several seasons and try to build a dynastry (similar to franchise mode on other games like Madden). You can keep track of your players during the course of a season with player ratings fluctuating. Old players will retire at season's end and young players, with added playing time, will improve right before your very eyes. Previous W.E. Master League's have kept me busy so I'm expecting this year's iteration to do the same to me once I get to it.

Here are the few cons I found (PS2)

Commentary/Sound

Not horrible, but not great. However, once youre knee deep in games (which will happen once you play the hardest level), you won't be concentraing on the sound as much.

A bit of slowdown

If you have several players in the box, there's occasional slowdown but not bad enough to take away from the gameplay.

No online play. Probably the most "glaring" deficit of this game according to some. True, online play adds fun to games, but I always felt that playing a sports game with more than one person is best when you play your friends directly instead of over a broadband connection.

Overall, this is probably one of the best sports games I have ever played (Madden 2003, NBA 2K series, and SSX I think are on this level). Even if you're not a soccer fan you'll enjoy how much of a challenge this game will provide for you. If you are a soccer fan like myself, you'll be blown away by the realism this game serves up. And if you're a Winning Eleven fan, you'll be flat out impressed with the new features this game adds over previous editions.

Best Deals for World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 - Xbox

As an avid football fan I was always disappointed with the repetitive garbage that I was forced to swallow from EASports and their Fifa franchise. Then...winning eleven 8 came out for xbox. I promptly discarded my previous fifa titles into the nearest trash receptacle and do not regret it (although I had a moment of weakness and bought fifa06 last week...that was a mistake). Anyway, on to the review.

Strengths:

-This is about as good a gameplay sim as you can expect to get out of any sports franchise. The controls are extremely responsive, and the depth of the tactical control and the myriad of types of goals that can be scored leave WE8 head and shoulders above EA.

-You have the ability to alter a player's exact position on the field (no locked in positions like fifa), their defensive or offensive mentality, the direction they will attack or make runs to, who they will man-mark, or rather what zone they are responsible for defending all down the very last inch of the pitch. The great variety and permutations this allows you to experience adds a great amount of depth and staying power.

-Couple the great tactical control with great gameplay and the formula is simple for a great game. Add to that increased gameplay depth with the various ways you can score goals (I consistently score with shots from outside the box, cross to header, cross to volley or side kick, breakaway slotted, breakaway hard shot, breakaway keeper lob and corner kicks...all on the highest difficulty level) Also, unlike fifa, you can beat players one v. one and your A.I teammates actually possess a brain.

Weakness:

The only weakness this game has is really in its presentation. WE8 only has licenses for the Spanish, Italian, and Dutch leagues...So I have to play with Liverpool FC (that's 5, get it right, 5 European cups) in all tomato red plain shirts which kind of makes the experience feel a bit hollow. Also, since they don't have licenses, you have to rename all the stadiums and all the teams in the game as well as some of the players for 'other' teams, such as Boca Juniors (It may seem a painful task, but you can get lists on the internet that help). Lastly, the menus, music and other GUI elements are quite poor (the pokemon music drives me crazy).

Don't put too much weight into my tirade at the end there about the GUI as it only slightly distracts you from the overall beautiful experience of the beautiful game that can only be brought to you by Konami and their Winning Eleven Masterpiece.

Honest reviews on World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 - Xbox

This is the best soccer game out. Way better than Fifa. The only thing bad, which i could care less about is that the jerseys are wrong and the team names arent right(Barclays Premier) Who Cares tho. Thats why they got the edit mode. Everyone who likes this game should be looking forward to Winning Eleven 9,which comes out in Febuary. Will be 10 times as better. (Online!)

Say EA, what??? EA sports with their fifa does not come nearly this game. First of all, the graphics are great and you can play the game in third person view (you have to unlock this feature). So far , this is the best soccer game I've ever played. I own the FIFA 06 also but it is nothing like this game. If you are a soccer fan, you should pick this one up. Thumbs up!!!

Crash is almost a must-have on the Xbox.

It's fun for everyone in the family (my 7 year old played it without a problem but younger kids may not be able to). It will keep you busy for a while (there are about 25 different levels to fight through, plus 5 "bosses" and you can revisit levels to get more lives or other bonuses). There's almost no learning curve.

It's just plain old fun!

If you liked Fuzion Frenzy, and you don't mind single player games, then you'll like Crash.

Some complain that it's graphics aren't breakthrough but they are certainly sufficient for you to clearly see what is going on.

The only real complaint: I wish there were a 2 player mode.

First sitting I was worried that i just wasted 50 bucks. The game feels very diffrent than playing Naughty Dog CRASH.The reason it feels strange is cuz this game was developed by Travelr's Tales.Wich means the artistic value is kinda missing, the controls feel a little weird at first, also the camera seems akward...So i was not really enjoying this version of CRASH. But I kept playing and sure enough started to love it (got used to the change)...there are some sweet suprises thrown in. If your a returning crash fan looking for CRASH for the year 2000 get Naughty Dog's new baby ((jak and daxter)) on PS2...But if you just want a new Crash with richer graphics gET THIS GAME.

Or if your someone who has never played crash and have an xbox go and buy it. This is only the FIRST next generation CRASH and I can't wait for more...I think CRASH will still be a cool game for the next 5 years. this game is kinda slow but is really fun at times!...you heard it from Lunar Larry

I've played every Crash game ever made but nothing could prepare me for the dissapointment I felt when I bought this game for the Playstation 2 system. The load times were LONG to the point of really making the game unplayable. Everytime you wanted to change levels you had to wait an ETERNITY for the levels to load up. But I really wanted to play this game so when the XBOX version came out I bought it hoping the load times would be much shorter. And that they were. The load times average about 7 seconds on most levels and once you get past that the game is actually a lot of fun. The graphics got a little touchup, nothing fancy, but the fur coating on Crash really looks cool. I will say that although this game is rated for EVERYONE, it is a very tough game. Younger children might have a hard time with this one, heck I've been playing video games for over 20 years and even I had a hard time finishing this one. Great game but not much new or innovating here. Just your standard Crash on the run game! Good but not outstanding. Definately worth the [] bucks it costs now though.

Honest reviews on Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex - Xbox

The game is average in just about all aspects: graphics, gameplay, and storyline. The game doesn't provide anything over the standard Mario-type-smashing-crates-and-collecting-fruit game, but is still fun, nonetheless, and provides a good amount of play time. Many of the levels are too challenging for younger players. There are some levels where the player "dies" by missing a jump, falling into water, and drowning. I thought the image of the character floating face down in the water wasn't appropriate for younger kids. For the most part, though, it will provide entertainment for all ages.

There are some things in life that just help keep things FUN (albeit frustrating at times). One of those things is a Crash Bandicoot game. I've played the first two offerings for the PSX but have basically stayed away from Crash since then. But my trusty old Xbox needed something new so I decided to give CRASH BANDICOOT: THE WRATH OF CORTEX a try.

Any gamers familiar with the old Crash games will find the controls and graphics as reliable as ever. The formula also is solid (5 stages per level 5 levels in all) giving players the ability to choose where they go in each level. Levels vary from basic platforming to running from charging onslaughts to vehicle levels to underwater levels to battling bosses. Some of the levels are a cake-walk while others will leave you with "rage building!" (I like to throw my controller and utter some favorite words). The most frustrating apect on this new offering (and the only downside) are certain levels that leave the player with tricky camera angles and poor depth perception.

Aside from merely winning a level and getting your gem, Crash allows numerous areas for repeat playing:

1) Find and destroy every crate per stage (harder than you think) to get a BONUS GEM! Collecting all these gems opens up new areas.

2) Getting through certain stages without dying to open up a Death Gauntlet where hidden gems await. These hidden gems will then open up new stages on other levels.

3) TIME TRIAL! Try to conquer a level in record time. The game saves all times and completing all 25 levels this way opens up even more hidden wonders.

All in all, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex will keep any platform gamer happy for days (weeks if you're not very good). It's not the greatest game in the world but it does manage to capture the two key essentials of any good game...

IT LOOKS GOOD AND IT'S FUN!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a quick "first look" review for those thinking of of Christmas gift giving.

I will come back and edit this with more details of the features and battery life, but I just wanted to say how amazing these sound and more importantly, even though the title says "Xbox 360" These also WILL WORK with the PS3, PS4 and with Bluetooth, the PS Vita, phone or tablet.

Straight out of the box the sound quality it stellar -and you can tweak it with really cool presets for the sound input from custom surround sound, even a setting to boost the sounds of footsteps great for stalking/stealth it's amazing!

The chat is extremely versatile, with options from voice shifting, to boosting it during loud gameplay, cancelling out ambient sounds to focus on chatting and more.

I have tried it with COD, (oh btw the voice prompts, for like "low battery" are the same from the game, kinda weird but cool.)

and BF4 For both chat and solo.

I also used them with the PS3 with GTA V, and Borderlands 2.

For the PS4 I tried them with Resogun (amazing!) and AC BF. And when I recharge them, I will try them with Killzone.

Like I said I WILL come back and give a detailed review of the different modes, I am currently charging them up and am going to install the PS4 update for them from TB. and I will add to this review.

But in a nutshell, yes they are pricey, but you get what you pay for, the quality is definitely there; if you want a great pair of headsets and have multiple platforms, you should really check these out!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Nice headphones. You really do need to spend some money if you want to get a decent pair of headphones. These are a little outside of what I would normally buy but turtle beach does make some nice stuff. Comes with everything you need in order to hook them up to an Xbox, a ps3 or a mobile device. Instructions are easy to read and it is easy to set up. No real complaints. Sound is very good as well. Ordering to delivery only took 2 days as well which was pretty nice. Just a solid, nice feeling pair of headphones. They are easy to fit and arent uncomfortable either. That is important for me as gaming headphones need to be worn of long stretches of time.

It's a shame that the Sega Saturn didn't succeed in North America the way that it did in Japan because they received the Arcade perfect version of this game for the Saturn and to this date there still is not an Arcade perfect version of this game for any home console. You could probably find someone selling a Japanese Sega Saturn on eBay or something, but that's a lot of trouble and who wants to buy an entire foreign system just to play just one great game (and maybe X-Men vs. Street Fighter too!)?

As far as the PlayStation version goes, you are forced to select only one fighter and an assisting teammate due to the PlayStations lack of RAM and VRAM (the Japanese Sega Saturn version requires a packed-in 4 MB RAM Cartridge which allows the game to play exactly like the Arcade version with minimal load times). However there is a trick if you are playing a 2 player game! If both players select the same characters, then you are able to play the game the way it was meant to be played: 2 vs. 2 tag-team! This game plays almost exactly like the previous years X-Men vs. Street Fighter on PlayStation with some new features and different characters. If you liked the way the PlayStation port of Marvel Super Heroes played then you will like this even better since it is more of the same with more character variety and more colorful graphics. Aside from the cutbacks in gameplay style and missing frames of animation (another downside to the PlayStations lack of RAM!), this game is enjoyable enough if you aren't obsessed with the Arcade verion too much. I would still go for the Japanese Sega Saturn version since it is Arcade perfect or wait (and hope) for Capcom to release a Marvel Anthology or another Capcom Arcade Classics compilation with X-Men: Children of The Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, this game, Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. C'mon Capcom!!!!!!

If you don't have a Dreamcast and you love Capcom's Vs. games, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter for Playstation is a decent alternative. There are some notable flaws, as the Playstation hardware is just not made to run these type of games. For instance, the biggest let down is the abscence of tag-teaming (the Playstation does not have enough RAM to store more than 2 characters within one loading session). Then there's the animation...there are definetly more than a few frames missing, but once you get used to it it's OK. However, there a few gameplay extras Capcom included to keep players interested: a "helper" character for each match, a healing vitality gauge, and a combo system that allows you to chain hyper combos together. Best of all though, the gameplay stays relatively fast with minimal slowdown (with the exception of extreme activity). This is another very noticeable improvement over the Playstation ports of Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men Vs. Street Fighter. If nothing else, Capcom is to be commended for putting up with the Playstation's limitations to squeeze out the best possible port of this game.

Best Deals for Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter

I've been a big fan of the Street Fighter series since its outset. And to be quite honest, playing Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter only reminds me of how great the series used to be. Sure, the game is mildly entertaining, but without the true tag team gameplay that the arcade version of the game had, it comes off as just another Street Fighter game with Marvel characters. The character roster totals out at 17, with nine from the Street Fighter universe and eight from Marvel. There are five modes of play including battle, versus, training, hero battle, and crossover. Battle and versus are your typical oneand two-player fighting game modes. Hero Battle is an endurance mode that separates the groups to see which has the stronger stable of fighters. Nothing special here. Crossover mode, however, is at least somewhat interesting. You see, in the original version of MSH vs. SF you could pick two fighters whom you could switch between at any time during the fight. This tag team style of fighting was first featured in the arcade version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter but couldn't make it into the PlayStation port due to the technical limitations of the PlayStation. Sadly, the tag team aspect of MSH vs. SF was also excluded for the same reason. Sure, you can still pick two characters, but you can only play as one of them. The second character only comes into play when you execute a team combo or team counter. Crossover mode tries to bring the game's main selling point home. This mode allows you to pick two characters, then the computer uses the same characters you picked. This limits the amount of information the PlayStation has to handle to two characters instead of four. If you are victorious in this battle, the computer swaps one of the characters each of you have for another. This is done so that you aren't playing with and against the same two characters each fight. It gives you the tag team experience of the arcade, but having to deal with the rotating character thing and having to fight mirror images of yourself is extremely weak. Visually, MSH vs. SF looks good. But when you compare it with its arcade counterpart, it simply fails. The colors aren't nearly as vibrant, and the game suffers from quite a bit of slowdown. It still comes across better than the PlayStation version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter, though, because not nearly as much animation was cut out. This is a major plus, since frames of animation not only affect the game's appearance but timing and gameplay as well.On the gameplay side, Street Fighter fans will definitely feel the typical Street Fighter gameplay. But in the end, it's all a question of how starved you are for another Street Fighter game. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is all about the tag team mode, and with the overall exclusion of this mode, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is just another Street Fighter game.

I was really scared about this. First, my headset is a Bose QuietComfort 15, so the Beats compatibility was still to be seen. Then, I didn't see anywhere that the new adapter was included. I had to send it to Spain so it was a bit risky. Anyway, at last everything went great, I'm now enjoying some Battlefied 3 and Dead Island online playing while talking to my friends. I highly recommend this for the specific purpose (to use a regular headset with microphone as a ps3 headset).

This Battle pack give you a returning friend, Series 3 Knockout Terrafin and a new figure that's not swap-able either, called Bumble Blast. You also get the magic item Fiery Forge that pours hot lava on your enemies and an additional arena to battle your friends in called the Fiery Forge. The magic item can be place at any time on the portal to assist in battle against your enemies. The Battle Arena is shaped like a trio of circles stacked like a triangle with a Y bridge in the middle. Lava randomly appears within the base of the circles, so the narrow Y shaped walkway is the only "safe" place to stay and fight.

KNOCKOUT TERRAFIN:

His early abilities are the "Earth Swim" where he moves underground and fist punches. Eventually he has a mega belly flop to offer along with a feeding frenzy that hatches baby sharks that help attack too. At the choose your path level you can choose to enhance his swimming abilities or his punches. Either path is a good choice for him. The baby sharks help out in both paths too. His strength lies in his ability to swim under ground without any harm coming to him and being able to sneak up on his opponents and smack them with a solid punch! All of these abilities are available early in the game but only get better. His soul gem ability is called "Surface Feeder" and that enables him to get power ups while underground. His new "Wow Pow" gives the ability to launch from underground and attack with a claw swipe and is joined by his baby sharks. You can follow that move up with a belly flop for quick massive damage. His special quest is called "Land Lubber" and you need for him to eat 20 foods while swimming underground to achieve it. He is available for purchase individually too if you don't want the Battle Pack.

BUMBLE BLAST:

Bumble Blast is a walking tree with a beehive gun and a "tongue of honey." He is a cool character that will at some time be individually available as a Lightcore figure. His early attacks include being able to shoot a Beezooka with honey seeking bees that damage enemies and the ability to coat your enemies with honey to "mark" them for the bees to seek. Overtime, the bees become more powerful and you can leave a hive mine to explode honey on your enemies. At the choose your path level you can either pick the "Bee Keeper Path" or the "Honey Tree Path." The honey tree path is an assortment of shooting a honey glob with angry bees, increasing the damage that the honey attacks do, and increasing armor for Bumble Blast. The other option, "Bee Keeper Path" lets you charge the Beezooka and shoot 3 or more bees, and eventually can shoot a Queen Bee that knocks enemies into the air. With his Soul Gem ability he acquires a backpack that automatically shoots bees at his close foes. His "Special Quest" is for Bumble Blast to hit honey coated enemies with bees 125 times. He is a fun figure, but this isn't the last time you will have the option to buy him. He will be available as a Light Core at some point along with a Jolly Bumble Blast(but I know nothing about him except the name).

Well, it's basically the same Smackdown we have been playing for years with some minor improvements and additions, which is either good or bad depending on how you look at it. The graphics are much improved from the PS2 days, especially the wrestler faces. Practically every wrestler looks very close to their real-life counterpart. The gameplay is very smooth and more realistic than ever. The new fighting styles and improved "Ultimate Control" moves add much-needed depth to the classic Smackdown fighting engine. I love the fact that they included many ECW wrestlers and some good legends, such as Sandman, Sabu, CM Punk, Terry Funk, Rick Rude, and more. And finally Jeff Hardy is back in a WWE game (first appearance since Shut Your Mouth in 2002)!!! The only thing that sucks is that they copied and pasted Stone Cold and The Rock from SvR 2007...I swear the character models, animations, and attires are exactly the same. I never once saw The Rock wear those tights with the blue-green lettering. Plus their entrance animations are WAY off I don't know who mo-capped these entrances, but they obviously weren't very big fans of the "Attitude" era. One cool thing Yukes DID add, though, is alternate DX attires for Triple H and HBK. Very nice!

The 24/7 mode is kinda boring...it's like they combined GM mode and Season, but it just doesn't work as well as it should. There is no continuity and the storylines make little to no sense at times...oh wait, that IS just like the real WWE. Way to represent the brand faithfully, Yukes! But seriously, am I the only fan who misses the old-school season mode from games like WrestleMania 2000? You fight you way up from the lower card to the mid card (winning, defending, and losing multiple titles along the way) and eventually reach the upper echelon and fight for the WWE title at WrestleMania. No stupid nonsense storylines, no space-consuming voiceovers, just lots of matches with the ultimate goal of winning (and successfully defending) the WWE title. I swear I miss the old days. On the bright side, Tournament mode is back! Or some refer to this as King of the Ring. I am very addicted to this mode, so it's such a welcome addition in my opinion. Now if they would only bring back the "I Quit" matches...

Online kinda sucks. They just can't seem to eliminate the lag. Oh well, I never play Smackdown online anyways because of the cheaters, so it's a dead issue for me.

The commentary is, well, pretty horrendous. JBL sounds like he's mentally handicapped or something. Just turn it off as soon as you get the chance.

Finally we can import our own tracks for the CAW entrance themes!!! And you can update themes for the existing wrestlers, too. Very cool!

Anyways, everything else is pretty good. The match types have not really been updated (just minor fixes), the A.I is still dumb, and there are lots of little glitches and other things that I could nitpick all day long, but that's the case with every new Smackdown game, so it was all expected. At the end of the day, this is still a very fun game probably the most fun I've had since Here Comes the Pain in 2003. The little additions to the gameplay (especially the new hardcore weapon moves and high-flying moves) really do add a lot to make the game feel fresh, especially after last year's somewhat dull offering. If you're a fan of the WWE or past Smackdown games, you'll want to pick this up ASAP. Anyone else, rent it first, but I think everyone that plays this will find something to enjoy.

Another year, another WWE licensed video game. Some will go down as bona fide classics (No Mercy 64, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006) and some will not (this game). 2008 had every opportunity to be one of the best around, especially with the potential of the PS3. I've been playing these games since WCW vs. NWO: World Tour for the N64 and even WCW vs. The World for the original Playstation and each year the game has its high peaks and its transitional games, and this would fall into the latter. This game just doesn't seem finished, the new ideas like Wrestler Styles (brawler, submission, hardcore, etc.) are a step in the right direction, but limit your wrestler too much. I understand giving a 400lb guy an enziguiri or shooting star press is a bit unrealistic, but weren't we the ones who paid $60 for the game? Also, different move sets are assigned to different styles, so there's little chance of giving a dirty wrestler any elaborate power or technical move. My powerhouse won't have any decent submission holds or technical moves; by now you're starting to get the point. Some moves are even missing from earlier editions of the game. The ultimate control grapple from last time is a good enough idea, but good luck trying to get them to work half of the time. It's a 50/50 shot whether or not I'm slamming my opponent's head into the ground or getting my head slammed into the ground. Also, the moveset controls aren't explained extremely well. I actually didn't figure out until a week or so of owning the game that both styles' movesets can be accessed in the same match (strong grapple + up or + down on the left stick access the other sets). Some other minor control features aren't explained very well or don't appear in the manual at all.

Roster-wise, this game also disappoints in more ways than one. I can honestly tell you that I haven't watched pro wrestling since I was in my freshman year in high school so I'm not as familiar with all of these wrestlers as most fans are, but come on, at least give us more legend options. The familiar faces are all there, such as The Undertaker, Triple H, John Cena, Rey Mysterio Jr, Edge and so-on, but where are legends like Hogan, Ted DiBiase (my old favorite), The Iron Shiek, Jake Roberts, Tazz (this game has ECW guys in it and he'd be perfect) and I could go on for ten minutes. Also, every guy on the roster is rated extremely high, completely removing the sense of balance from the game. Matt Hardy is a 90 but Triple H is only a 94? That eliminates possible mismatches, but it also makes half of the roster too good. In the old games, if the guy was a jobber (like say Rico or Hurricane Helms) he'd be a 70-something, and if a guy was a winner, he'd be a 90-something. On the bright side, the ECW additions are extremely fun to play as (I dare you not to absolutely love being Sabu or Sandman) and the ECW weapons system is a lot of fun. I do miss the backstage areas a lot, but a Money-in-the-Bank match has kept my friends and I occupied.

Career mode is arduous at best. It feels like a lot of work, and not a lot of fun to move through a year in the 24/7 mode. Storylines make little to no sense and cutscenes often repeat themselves. Wrestlers will turn on you or befriend you with no rhyme nor reason (which I guess is like real WWE) and as usual, the McMahon family is pure evil. I honestly just simulate through 24/7 mode to build up my guys and make money.

The create-a-player hasn't changed too much but still seems off, as for every addition or a new hairstyle or outfit, there's a subtraction of another one. The Xbox 360 version DOES allow for re-writable soundtracks and entrance music, as well as twice as many layers for our create-a-wrestlers. I actually sold my PS3 version online and bought the Xbox 360 version just for those two differences. I love finally being able to give my wrestlers whatever entrance music I want. The PS3 version's graphics seem slightly less colorful and bright and maybe a tad more realistic, but the gameplay moves much less smoothly than the 360 version. I was surprised how noticeably different the Xbox 360 version felt than the PS3's. I'll take slightly diminished graphics over smoother gameplay nine out of ten times, and there isn't even a huge, noticeable difference. The load times seemed a lot longer for the PS3 as well, especially with a create-a-wrestler match.

Overall, this game doesn't feel like a total disappointment. It's still just as fun to play with a group of buddies as any of the old games, it's just no fun to play by yourself. I usually make about twenty create-a-wrestlers anyway, so the roster issue isn't as big of a problem for me as it is for a real fan of WWE wrestling; I'll just make my own roster. This game shows serious potential but just isn't a classic. If anything, I really look forward to next year's game so that THQ can fine tune the gamplay.

I really had a hard time deciding whether or not to buy this game on the 360 or Wii. After seeing the lack of match types and repetitiveness on the Wii, I went and got the 360 version. At first, I wasn't very happy with my decision. I wanted to take it back and get the Wii version. Boy, am I happy I didn't. It takes a couple matches to get used to the new controls and superstar fighting styles, but once you get in the groove, it's full throttle fun! There are so many match types, it's insane. Of course, the create a wrestler mode is incredible and it's cool you can put in your own entrance music. This makes it a lot cooler to create the likes of Chris Jericho, who recently came back to the WWE. From the top down, this game rocks. The only reason I don't give this game five stars is that the 24/7 mode has a lot of moments that don't make any sense or go along with the storyline. Also, I think the roster is pretty weak compared to the other games in the Smackdown series. With a better roster and a fixed 24/7 mode, the 2009 version has a chance to be even better.

Honest reviews on WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 - Xbox 360

Ok so I like wrestling games, I mostly like the ones for nintendo (No Mercy, Day of Reckoning 1+2, Wrestlemania 19). However this time I decided to give the xbox wrestling game a chance. There is a certain learning curve when switching from the nintendo wrestling games to xbox wrestling games. One problem that is a total beach is the fact that reversing is switched around for some reason. It used to be on the games I'm used to R reversed strikes and L reversed grapples, but now its the other way around, which is really dumb and just makes the transition harder.

The best story mode in a wrestling game was probably No Mercy's. The story actually changed depending on the if you won or lost. In this story mode (24/7 mode) the computer has already decided if you won or lost you just play the match and afterwards it tells you if you won or lost despite what you did.

The good parts of the game are things like the new fighting style feature. It adds another element of strategy and originality to the game. There are also plenty of matches that are all pretty fun once you get the hang of the game, especially the ECW extreme rules match where you can choose your weapon from under the ring which is pretty B.A.

Overall I think the game is in the same league as Wreslemania 19 for Gamecube. The game is fun but the story mode is trash in both, also both are rather skimpy on the rosters. Anyways it is still a good pickup.

Smackdown vs Raw 2008 is one of my least favorites even if I do find myself playing it a lot on PSP. I'll start by mentioning the bad:

1: Anyone, can toss the big guys around, like the Great Khali. I mean guys like Rey Mysterio, Flair and HBK can lift anyone up for the Razor's Edge. Meanwhile I don't even remember when any of them have even done that move. They got things right in the 2007 game with how it was hard to move the Great Kahli around. So they should have kept things that way. It was a lot more of a challengle to not even be able to lift the Great Khali as John Cena for even his finisher in Smackdown vs Raw 2007.

2: The submission moves: Yes it's awesome that you can control how much pressure you can put on some submission moves. However with some submission moves such as the ankle lock you don't get that option. Hell, you can't even make people submit with the hold on the game! There's a few holds that you can't make people submit with infact.

3: The Legends: Yes it's cool to have Rick Rude finally. However, it barely looks like him. While it would have worked more to have him if someone he actually feuded with was also on the game like Ultimate Warrior or Ricky Steamboat. He had a small feud with Flair once but that's it. It's also lame to keep having Piper on each game. I do admit though that he's better in this one since you can control how much pressure you put on his sleeper hold at least. I still would have liked if they just brought Mr. Perfect back instead though or even Hogan. I'm a little tired of Mick Foley on each game as well. While the late great Eddie Guerrero can just be used on the PSP version.

4. Some wrestlers you don't even get the option of giving them such holds as the figure 4 in create a wrestler mode. They have less of a variety of moves in this game as well.

5. Come on, if you can create a wrestler, you should be able to give them good music to walk out to. Here Comes the Pain got that right. You had a good list of original music choices. Instead with the newer games, you get a lame list of music choices. Who wants their created wrestler to walk out to the annoying background music that already irritates us as we play the game. There should also be a better list of entrances for created stables. I also don't like how some legends you can't even use in GM mode, like Vince and Shane McMahon. They also need to finally add 8 man tags. They also should have kept in PPV mode.

What I do like: I already mentioned that I like how you can put pressure on...some submission moves. I also like how they brought title mode back. I like how it's easier to build up your wrestlers popularity in GM mode by simply having them sign autographs or interfere at the other shows. I also like how they added beat the clock matches in Tourament Mode.

Legends I'd like to see in the 2009 game: Hogan, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, 80's Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, The Rock, Arn Anderson, The Demolition, Randy Savage, Yokozuna " and he should be very very hard to move", RVD, Eddie Guerrero, 1-2-3 Kid "to beat up lol", Sid, Vader, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Mr. Perfect, Honkey Tonk Man
