I've bought Battlefield 3 Limited Edition at launch and I've enjoyed every minute playing this game. If you have a PC powerful enough to run this game and if you multiplayer FPS, then this is the game for you. The premium service includes Back to Karkand, Close Quarter, Armored Kill, Aftermath, and Endgame. These are themed expansions.

Back to Karkand: huge maps that emphasizes vehicular and vertical gameplay.

Close Quarter: infantry-only maps for COD fans that desire ultimate mayham in 64 player matches.

Armored Kills: gigantic maps that specialize in vehicular combat.

Aftermath: fun new scavenger game mode and adds vertical gameplay.

Well... I'd been thinking about this purchase for way too long. Totally worth the $50... but it's just that *ARGH!* moment when it's 50% off a week later on Origin.

or don't spend the money because $60 is too expensive for some maps and silly stuff that you will only use sometimes. Unless you are hardcore into BF3 and play it every day, wait til a sale.

I have no complaints about the drive itself the complaint is actually more of a Buyer beware. Do not purchase from the Buyer VRGamerz if you want the 0047DJ version [[ASIN:[[ASIN:B002W199C0 Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L 47DJ for Microsoft Xbox 360]] Xbox 360 DVD driver Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L 47DJ Driver]] Although the description specifically states it's the version 0047DJ they sent me the 0059DJ version which is not a direct replacement without changing the board from the broken drive into the new drive. For those of you looking to replace a drive make sure it is the version that matches your current version if you want a simple plug and play swap where you only need to flash fw with your old key.

...OK I'm calmed down now, DON'T buy a REFURBISHED one if you want it quiet. Try to get a new one, pay attention to see if it is or not, trust me. But it does work, it just sounds like a chainsaw. You also need to switch circuit boards with the old one.

Great Racing Game! Graphics are great, configurable, controls work, drives very realistic. Best game to have force feedback. Audio is good!

This is the best ralli racing game on the market as of 2005. Microsoft has put out one awesome game with graphics, controls, and sounds. Details...details...details....if youre driving in a safari race, you can see zebra herds running in the distance. Dirt is flying up as you handbrake around tight corners, the sound of the engine changing gears is so lifelike. Car damage could have been a little better perhaps, but thats the only area Colin 2005 has over this older game. I'm still playing this game online in 2007, so there are plenty of folks out there still racing! You can do career mode, time trials, online, and as in other games you have to unlock your way to different cars and tracks. Two levels...easy and normal and both are pretty easy. First time thru i literally won every race the first time on easy mode, so you might want to steer away from that. Controls are simple and easy to configue using either keyboard, wheel, pad, or stick. Theres a new sega ralli game comign out later this year that might knock off this game from the best ralli racing spot, but until then this is king! Graphics and sounds are killer and the game takes up less than 2gb on your hard drive. Even with a poor video card, you can get pretty good graphics and framerates. I started with a 5600fx card back in 2003 and upgraded later to my 7800gsoc. I got great graphics and effects with both, so this game ISN'T a system hog. Get it..you'll luv it!

PopCap Arcade Vol. 1 (Bejeweled 2, Astro Pop, Feeding Frenzy, Zuma) Reviews

PopCap Arcade Vol. 1

If you price these separately on Xbox Live Marketplace, you'll find that this collection on disc is actually a decent value. And unlike purchasing the digital download equivalents from Xbox Live Marketplace, you will be able to resell this disc later if you no longer want it.

Of the four games, the most entertaining games for me are probably "Feeding Frenzy" and "Zuma". "Feeding Frenzy" is somewhat easy to complete, offering two different modes -a basic 'career' mode and then a 'timed' mode. The controls are decent, requiring twitchy thumb movements because your "fish" never actually stops floating in the play area. "Zuma" is addictive -it gets very fast-paced and hectic and you'll find your heart racing at times just trying to stay ahead of the increasingly challenging levels. The music is extremely entertaining and addictive. "Bejeweled" comes in as my third favorite, and is a very simple game to understand and play. If you've played Hexix HD, and you can find patterns in colors, you can play "Bejeweled". "Astropop" made the least impression on me, and is not the type of game I enjoy playing. It involves building groups of like-colored blocks in order to "pop" them, as they descend from the top of the screen, with the goal to clear the screen. It's not a difficult game, but after a short while I did not find it very entertaining.

What is odd about the collection is the way it runs from the Xbox 360 console. When you insert the disc, the game disc will load, and then deposit you back on the 360's dashboard, in your list of Arcade titles where the games will be listed. When you select a game from the list, the disc spins-up, and the game starts. I probably would have preferred an on-disc menu -in other words, if you start the disc, you can select one of the four games from a "game" menu. The game disc runs/spins the entire time you are playing, so your console ends up being much louder than if you purchased the downloadable content versions from the Marketplace. This is unfortunate since the games are very small in size.

The games include the same achievements that are available in the downloadable versions, so there is a total of 800 achievement points available. The achievements are somewhat challenging, which gives this collection excellent replay value, depending upon how much you like each of the individual titles.

Overall, a good collection for the money, with decent replay value, and potentially good future resale value as well.

PopCap Aracade Hits Vol. 1 is a collection of games that were playable through Xbox Live. Now, if you missed out on any of these games, now is your chance to play them!

Bejeweled: Probably the best game of the bunch. A modern-like Tetris involving jems instead of blocks, and they don't come free-falling so you have time to make a match. Match three identical jems in a pattern to blast them off the board. There are four different modes to play, and I would recommend first-timers play endless mode to pratice before you start problem solving mode or building a score in the normal mode. This game is truly addictive!

Astro Pop: It's like a classic arcade game, grab blocks and blast them away. For me, I didn't prefer this game much.

Feeding Frenzy: Fun for any age! Eat fish that are smaller than you to grow bigger and advance through the different stages to become top of the food chain. The last floor is the most challenging, and it might drive you nuts after awhile!

Zuma: Problem-solving game. Shoot balls to make a combo and keep the balls from falling into the golden skull. The further you advance in the game, the faster the balls move. You've gotta' be quick fingers to do this game!

Overall: A nice set of arcade games that are hours of non-stop fun! Custom soundtracks are available for all these games if you want to play by your own tunes. Recommended for all ages!

I don't play this game much any more, I merely got it because I jumped from lightly using an n64 to an xbox, so not much of a gamer I was nervous about how to handle the controller and work it.. This buy was for all intensive purposes to get acquainted with software... it did the job.. and I have young neighbors who like to come over and beg to play the thing so instead of handing them something like fable (Adult content, lots of reading, of which they are currently learning), this is a great crowd pleaser to them. Hours go by and parents come looking for them, laughing all the way over.

The whole idea of having worms in 3D forts, sounds like it would be fun but the actual gameplay was lacking. There are problems with the physics of the game that make many of the weapons very difficult to use. The graphics do look pretty nice, and are one of the pros in the game. The multiplayer games do lack the quickness and speed of the old 2D worms games that made them enjoyable and ideal for a fast pickup game. The controls and the aiming for many of the weapons are hard to get the hang of, so it requires a lot of time just getting a knack of your weapons, before you can become even mildly proficient with them. Overall, this game is a disappointment to the worms series, and I would not recommend purchasing it.

This is probably my favorite game that I ever played on the Dreamcast. It is a very hard game at times(It took me forever to beat Wagnard the first time. Exploring every inch of the sixth level of the cold cave was also a doozy.)It also is a very long game for an action rpg. There are so many items that you can find. I have played it for a while and I still haven't found every one. It is definitely worth the time it takes to play through it though because it is a very fun game. I highly recommend it.

Record of Lodoss War looks and plays similar to Diablo I/II and Blood Omen. This means no annoying random encounters like most RPGs. There are two VERY cool aspects to this game. For starters, you are given your own castle from which you can explore the island of Lodoss. Using a spell, you can return to this castle at any time (similar to the Town Portals used in Diablo II). By activating portals, you can transport to different locations throughout the island without having to walk the whole way every time you want to traverse Marmo. The second great aspect of this game is the weapons/armor system. After rescuing Wart, a blacksmith, you can have him forge weapons for you and emboss magic runes onto your weapons and armor that will become NECESSARY for completing the game. My only complaints about this game are the graphics and sound. The sound of your boots clanking againt the floor can get repetitive at best and aggravating at worst. The graphics and sound are what keep this otherwise great game from earning 5 stars, in my estimation.

Best Deals for Record of Lodoss War

I bought this game only because of the anime series, I did not know what to expect at the bargin... So let's get to the point, I never played a game with so much depth and freedom to roam around. To me what was really cool is that you can put inscriptions on your weapons and armor. I liked the fact when your in an area, like most games and you kill anything and everything in sight and you leave and come back the enimes are not there and you can walk around and say to your self that's it,but in this game they were back ten times fold.To all my fellow gamers you should take up the the challenge of this great highly forgotten and wonderful game.

Honest reviews on Record of Lodoss War

You play as a hero from the past brought to life again thanks to Wart, one of the six legendary heroes of Lodoss. He warns that Wagnard, an evil wizard, plans on resurrecting the evil goddess Kardice. Your mission is to find and help different characters from the anime, such as Parn and Deedlit. You will notice that the story line is much different from the anime series, being that Karla is actually helping Wagnard in the resurrection of Kardice. After you briefing from Wart, you will soon capture a goblin fortress and become its ruler. Before entering into the fortress you will meet a dwarven blacksmith, whom you can name. Which leads us to the weapon system. It is excellent and unique. You will find ancient inscriptions all across Marmo, then you will be able to inscribe them into your sword, shield, helmet, and armor. Some inscriptions can give you resistance to spells and others might give you an advantage against golems. Your dwarven blacksmith will inscribe them for you, being that you have enough mithril. There are two sub-plots along with the main plot that will keep you busy for some time. The endings are also based upon your replies to the different characters that you meet. It is defiantly a Diablo styled game, but with a rich story and a unique weapon system. A must have game for Lodoss fans and Diablo fans!

... the boot's item description warns they are loud. In fact the monsters will be drawn by the sound of your boots, unless you're wearing softer boots. Also it is possible to sneak past monsters while wearing softer boots.

This game is a lot of fun, it really lets you customize yourself and has a great system. Graphics and CG animations are terrific. Now the downside: It's nearly impossible. I have never heard of and RPG where a level 99 character still dies in the outworld. But you will in this. About 3000 enemies ambush you from all sides and stand around you just pounding. Forget the fact that you can do 2000 hit points of damage, you can barely attack. The game is beatable, but if you are easily frustrated...well, you may end up breaking it.

Disclaimer: This review is only for the Kinect portion of the game.

Every time I buy video games or movies without doing my homework I get burned! This game falls in that category...I bought it with the idea that you could play the whole thing with Kinect, and I was disappointed. It's not that the Kinect challenges aren't any fun, I just wish they weren't such a tiny portion of the overall game. Each challenge takes about 5 minutes to complete. I find it entertaining, just not what I'd hoped for.

Listen. I know that there are ton of people bashing this game. I am a fan of the series, and I feel like it is getting a bit of a harsh review. This game is not Gears of War. It is a licensed movie game. Based on that fact alone, you should know what you are getting into. This is not the most polished shooter in the world, but from a story telling perspective I found it to be enjoyable. The stealth sequences were fun and at times kept me on the seat of my pants. I am not a die hard gamer, so I actually enjoyed the fact that the enemies were not too difficult for me to figure out. The frantic pace of it was fun, and it left the door open for trying to find strategies for the different situations. I will say that I had a hard time telling what was good cover from the bad cover.

Overall, I think this is certainly a game that Harry Potter fans will enjoy. If you are going to see the movie, you should give this one a try. In my close circle of friends, we are split on this one. Check it out for yourself and see what you think.

i guess i didn't realize that this wasn't a true kinect game. The main gameplay is all done with the regular xbox controller. There is a kinect challenge, which is separate from the main storyline. It's kind of fun but repetitive. If you're looking for a kinect game where you get to use the kinect the whole time though, this isn't it. If you're looking for a good HP game, then go with it. The actual gameplay isn't bad if that's what you're looking for.

This is an incredible game. I just bought it the other day and I love it. But I'm still not finished. Sure, I've beaten a few tourniments, but there is more.

See, the reason I'm writing this is because I've been reading a lot of reviews saying that it's just too easy. What they fail to mention is that even though Tournament mode is very very short, you have to play it with all your racers in order to make everything equal. In addition, there are secret characters that are unbelieveably hard to get. These are:

Episode 1 Sebulba: Win first place in all races on regular Sebulba's career.

Episode 1 Anakin: Beat the best lap time for each race (it seems easy at first, but those last two races make it almost impossible).

Watto: Beat the best 3-lap race time for each track (see above parentathis).

Darth Maul: Beat the best KO number in each race (oddly enough, it's the first race of the game that gives me the most trouble)

Darth Vader: Unlock EP1 Anakin, Watto, and Maul, then (and only then) win the tourniment with one of those three.

How difficult are these characters to get? Well, let me put it this way: I've been playing almost nonstop for a week and the only onje of the above characters I have is EP1 Sebulba (though I'm close to getting Maul).

So if you want praise for this incredible game, read some of the other reviews. However, read this one after to dispell the "too easy" myth. Sure, winning the tourniment mode with one character is wicked easy (I did it in a matter of hours). But try winning it with 18 and unlocking 5 more.

Dos neek ta tunk bantha poodoo.

Unlike most people, I owned the PC version of the original Racer and I absolutely loved it. Even before I had seen the movie I was deeply obsessed with that game. There's nothing coller that racing inches above the ground and near sonic speeds. The sequel offers everything the first offers with a couple of exceptions and a lot of extras.

First my few complaints: there seem to be fewer tracks on fewer planets offering less variety. Basically you get the water planet (Mon Calimari), the desert planet (Tatooine), the jungle planet (Gamorra, sounds like a venereal disease, and my least favorite world), the planet with one side day and the other night, which was my favorite and maybe one other. Maybe my memroy hypes the PC version into something better than it was, but it seems that there were a lot more planets or at least a lot more tracks. Lack of variety in the tracks means the game is potentially very short, even though replayability is good.

My other problem might seem trivial, but there's no first person perspective without the pods in view. It was my favorite view on the first one for a couple of reasons. 1: the pods obstruct your view even thought they're meant to make a more realistic simulation. It's hard to see the upcoming turns and the guys in your way. 2. Without the pods it really increases the illusion of speed. It just sucked you in and made you feel like you were hauling ...

Other than these two minor complaints, this is an excellent game. There are tons of racers both old and new, including an older (non-Jake Lloyd) Anakin with a redesigned pod. I've already beat the game once with Teemto Pagalies and have every racer through Sebulba ( I think there are more, but I'll get to that later).

The music and sound, as with most Star Wars games) is excellent. Sebulba's pod still makes that cool thumping noise and the John Williams score is well... John Williams. The visuals are very impressive, especially the characters and pods. It seems like the backgrounds are a little rough and blocky at times, but I think that's to improve the frame-rate and you're going so fast you don't have time to stop and look.

One of the cool features you can unlock is the art gallery. In the gallery there are all the pods plus three that I find particularly interesting: a pod for Watto, one for Darth Maul and one for Darth Vader. In the credits there are voice acting credits for Darth Maul and Vader voices. It seems obvious that there is some way of unlocking these pods, but I don't know how and I'm dying to find out. Those Maul and Vader pods look ruthless.

The game is a lot of fun and made me remember why I loved the first one so much. There's something very cool about hitting turbo in a big underwater tube and letting the centripical force carry you upside dwon over your opponents at 600 mph. Or bursting out of one tunnel into a cavernous gap and after some mad hang-time, flying into another tunnel waaay on the other side.

Even without the Star Wars theme this is a strong game that stands on it's own. Star Wars fans or fans of high speed racing should not miss out.

Best Deals for Star Wars Racer Revenge

Options include single events, tournaments, and two-player mode. The tournament is where the hard hitting action is at. In tournament mode, your pod racer works his way through different race courses and earns money for pod upgrades (speed acceleration, cooling, defense, repair, etc.) along the way. The first 2 or 3 tournaments may seem to lack a serious challenge, but that all changes around the 4th or 5th round. It doesn't take much to go from 1st to last by hitting a wall. I've won races by as little as .1 seconds with the top 5 pods all coming within a few seconds of each other. I've also taken a wide turn while in 1st and finished 3rd. The game description says that speeds reach up to 600mph, but I have gone in excess of 700mph. Quality game with excellent graphics and game controlls. Would have given 5 stars, but the 2 player mode just wasn't meant to be... not enough room on the screen to accommodate it.

Honest reviews on Star Wars Racer Revenge

I bought this for Christmas for my kids. We're all Star Wars fans, and we play it almost daily. I'm 33, and I enjoy it just as much as my kids. Racing at 500 or 600 miles an hour--what's not to like?

PROS: It recreates the feel of the Star Wars universe nicely, with opening scenes and even music from the movies as you race. There are enough tracks for plenty of variety, and the feeling of the different "alien" worlds each track is located on is created nicely. The game starts with only four tracks available to race, however, and you must win first place in a number of races in Tournament mode in order to unlock the remaining eight or so tracks. This offers challenge and incentive to progress through the game. The same goes for the pods/characters. You start the game with Anakin's pod and a few others (around seven or eight if I remember correctly), but more than half of them remain to be unlocked. I think there are a total of around 15-20 pods once all are unlocked, with Sebulba's pod being the last one to unlock. (NOTE: For those unfamiliar with Playstation games...A memory card is required for the game to recognize that tracks and pods from previous gaming sessions have already been unlocked)

CONS: The downside is it is quite challenging to win races sometimes. Also, the damage caused to your pod by bumping into obstacles can get annoying. There are no options within the game to change the level of difficulty or turn off the damage, which is really needed when you have young kids playing. My boys are four and six-years-old, and they frequently cannot finish a race because their pods reach the damage limit and explode too quickly. There is a button you can hold for a number of seconds to repair your pod, however. Still, for young kids who just want to race to have fun, it would be nice to turn that damage feature off.

I assume this game was designed for children, so I found it perplexing that I, having several hundred hours of racing games experience on a Sony Playstation 2, could not easily win each race here. I had to attempt certain races several times to win first place. Not a big deal for me--it was a fun challenge. But I'm calling it a downside to the game because my children still have yet to win any race. In fact, it's so difficult that they always come in last place. Furthermore, even when you find yourself racing really well and in the lead, taking every corner with precision, and racing at top speed, somehow the computer-controlled pods will be right on your tail the whole time and as soon as you make a mistake, they will fly right past you. I realize that this keeps the game challenging, but sometimes it would be nice to reap the rewards of building a lead.

CONCLUSION: Despite the drawbacks I've written about, this game is an excellent value. My boys and I have had hours of fun, with countless more to come. Sure, my boys don't like to come in last place every time, but they keep playing it because it's so much fun. If you can live with the drawbacks, the PROs to the game will delight you. I highly recommend this game.

When Pod Racer came out on the N64 it was an instant hit. My friends and I spent many weekends playing it and admiring the graphics, and the sheer brutal speed of the game. Sound and game play were great too.

Now Pod Racing comes to the PS2 which is cool since I don't own an N64.

First and foremost this is a good game, it's fast, adictive and has good gameplay. I don't think that it has the brutal speed of it's fore-runner though. Nor are the graphics quite up to the task either. I think the problem with the graphics is simply that the PS2 can't anti-alias the screen, so the picture has sharp edges, not actual jaggies mind, just slightly too sharp edges, which remind you you are playing a game.

The biggest problem, for me, is the exclusion of Watto's Junk yard and store. In the N64 game you browsed the new and spare parts you wanted to buy. In this one, you simply adjust a bar representing one or other attribute of your pod. I preferred the N64's junk yard, it added character to the game. It kinda makes me wonder why too, the N64 game was cartridge based, this PS2 game has an entire CD to play with, so it's not like there wasn't room.

The addition of a combat element to the game you bash your opponents until they go bang, adds an element to the race, but at the end of the day it's still a pod race.

Is this a great game? Yes, buy it, play it. Is it better than the old Pod Racer? Well, it does remove the annoying screech of Annakin throughout the game, but apart from that, it's more of the same. The graphics are great, but don't have the smooth finish of the N64 version.

Lastly, no matter what *anyone* says, this isn't a "new" game, or "new" version, it's little more than the same game ported to the PS2. And to be honest I am very happy with that, I missed my Pod Racing. All I need now is that ice world track from the old game and a nice strong coffee to get my speed up.....

I'm not entirely sure whether I can call a game like Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day a video game. Its graphics are hardly groundbreaking, its audios are almost monotonous, and its core gameplay involves reading aloud, counting syllables and solving mathematical problems. Surely, that's not what video gaming is all about, is it? Well, not if you hail from the Nintendo school of gaming, no. As mundane as Brain Age sounds, it's actually strangely addictive, and once you begin your journey of improving your brain age, you'll find yourself deeply immersed in the various activities aimed at giving your brain a daily workout.

The primary objective of Brain Age is to "exercise your brain". This is done through doing activities that are designed to stimulate your prefrontal cortex, which is the part of your brain that influences how you apply what you've learnt (whatever). It's believed that doing these activities on a regular basis will have a positive effect on your brain. Whether or not this holds any truth, I'm not sure. But with 15 activities to choose from, at least the game can keep you occupied for quite a while, even though some of these activities are less desirable to do than others.

Some of these activities include a calculation game, which puts you through a series of simple mathematical problems. 2+6, anyone? Or 8x7, for that matter? Well, you get the picture. The idea is basically to get the brain to start thinking quickly with a succession of simple questions, instead of forcing the player to spend too much time dwelling on one. There're different variations of this calculation module, but the underlying gameplay doesn't divert from the idea of rapidly solving a problem.

Reading aloud is another activity in Brain Age. Obviously, this makes use of the DS' mic, and it basically requires you to read through an article as quickly as possible. While you may have problems pronouncing words like "epoch", you can actually breeze through this activity by simply bulldozing through without pronouncing the words properly. Just remember to wipe the saliva off your DS screens. Syllables counting is another mini-game on Brain Age. This one requires you to count the number of syllables in a short sentence, and then write the answer down on the touch screen. If you're not exactly sure about what is a "syllable", just remember that the word "syllable" itself has three syllables, and you should be fine.

Of course, there're more to just calculation, reading aloud, or counting syllables in Brain Age, but as you can see, the activities in the game are not exactly the "saving the world from an evil force" kind. Yet, the game's appeal comes in the form of its simplicity. At times, when playing this game, I feel like I'm doing one of those online IQ tests, and the eagerness to score well is impetus enough for me to keep going despite the dryness of the questions. This basically sums up the charm of Brain Age.

To spice things up a little, Brain Age also included a substantial amount of Sudoku puzzles. Now, if you can believe my wife, Sudoku is the best thing on Earth since sliced bread. The popularity of this grid-based puzzle game is immense, and it's not surprising to see it being included in the game. As with the usual Sudoku books, the Sudoku puzzles in Brain Age are sorted according to difficulty. The easy ones are, well, pretty easy to solve, while the advanced ones require more logical thinking. Anyhow, Brain Age contains more than 100 Sudoku puzzles, which should keep fans of Sudoku occupied for quite some time. Having Sudoku as one of the 15 activities in Brain Age basically provides additional value for an already value-for-money budget game.

And, to top it up, Brain Age also has a multiplayer mode, which allows you to host up to an amazing 15 players with one cartridge. Unfortunately, the only playable activity in this mode is the calculation module, which lets you take on others in 30 mathematics questions. This gets old really quickly. It'd be fun if you can challenge your friends to a game of Sudoku (duh!), really.

Brain Age also requires a unique way of playing. You play it with the DS being held vertically, much like reading a book, with the touch screen on the right. The concept is to recreate the scenario of solving puzzles in a puzzle book, and to a certain extent, this blends in very nicely with the objective of the game. And, true to the game's out-of-the-box nature, Brain Age is played entirely with the DS' features. That is, via the touch screen and the mic. These make the game more "book-like" than the usual DS games. The game also caters to left-handers. If you're a leftie like me, simply tell the game so, and you can turn the DS "the other way round" so that the touch screen switches to the left. This is a nice touch, or the game may just lose a lot of potential buyers!

The problem with how the game plays, however, lies in the sensitivity of the touch screen and the mic. Somehow, it seems to have problem registering my pronunciation of "black", and doesn't really recognize my "8" on the touch screen properly. As a result, I've an initial brain age of 76 (!) because of unnecessary errors. It appears that players will need to adapt to how the game receives input to do well in their own results. This is not exactly a big issue, but it could be frustrating when you're trying to beat a certain timing, only to be let down by your poor handwriting or diction.

In conclusion, Brain Age is a very different sort of game, even by the DS' selection of quirky titles. It may not boast the usual features that sell a video game, but in their place, we've something that is simple, unassuming, and ultimately very addictive. Moreover, the game is supposed to improve the functionality of your brain, so what's there to lose? Brain Age is highly recommended.

Thinking. Analyzing. Solving Problems. Reading. Logic. These are just some of the skills that Brain Age will help you develop (or re-develop).

No, it's not Resident Evil or Splinter Cell. But it is as fun and addictive; it's certainly as challenging if not more challenging, and it's a nice pallet cleanser from the plethora of pure entertainment value games that my kids and I play.

Brain Age is a bit advanced at times for my grade schoolers, but the parts that they do get really help them develop the skills that they are concurrently working on in school. Big Brain Academy is a much easier (not better) alternative for younger children.

There's a daily training area that gives your skills a workout. And there's a test area that challenges you to quickly and accurately work through various tasks, then provides you with a calculation of your Brain Age based on how well you did on the test. Sudoku has it's own area to train the brain on number logic.

Kids reading this will NO vote me to death for saying this, but this is a great game for parents to get for their kids. It's one of the only ones (Big Brain Academy is the other) that I never take away from my own kids when they've misbehaved or simply just had too much video gaming. They never complain.

One word of advice: Brain Age has a hard time recognizing an "8" if you write it the way you'd skate a figure 8; it likes it better when you draw an 8 as two circles on top of each other.

Addictive fun. Buy it.

From the moment you begin playing Brain Age you'll realise that it's unlike any other experience. It's probably the only game ever made that begins with a doctor addressing you a prominent Japanese neuroscientist to be exact. He asks a few quick questions to get the ball rolling as he scopes out your "brain age". It's kind of unnerving actually. After displaying a couple of brain scans in various states of activity (or inactivity), the doctor explains that your brain is like any muscle and will shrivel without exercise. Old brains are bad, young brains are good.

Once you pass the opening formalities the doctor runs you through a more rigourous series of tests (math problems, memorization drills, concentration sets...). The good doctor then assigns you your first daily brain age rank. If it's good (low) he'll congratulate you and encourage you to keep working hard. If it's bad (high) he'll chide you and issue a warning about the dangers of aging brains. As the game progresses he'll ask you random questions which contribute to your overall profile. This is where the genius of this game truly shines. Anyone could assemble a collection of mini math games and assorted brain teasers. Nintendo however has wrapped this all up in a diagnostic package. It feels like the game is studying you. Each day you log in the goal is clear and the feedback perfect. The interface is quick and simple, the touch screen works remarkably well and the voice recognition is a nice touch too.

I must lower my brain age!

Honest reviews on Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day!

I purchased a Nintendo DS specifically for this game and was not disappointed. I'm 65 and on a good day can get my "brain age" into the 30s. I gave the game and a DS to an 80 year-old friend, and she can get into the 40s. We both struggle with the test that calls for memorizing from a list of words.

After learning to play Sudoku in Brain Age, I switched to playing it on my Palm Pilot (game from Astraware) which lets me enter the game from the daily newspaper. I've recently lent my DS to a 6th grader who is learning Sudoku. (By the way, avoid the DS game called "Sudoku". It's unnecessarily clunky for entering data.)

This is an appropriate game for seniors who like math/logic challenges even if they've never used a computer. Plan to spend some time tutoring a newbie, and then watch as he or she enjoys the challenge.

There isn't so much when it really comes to mental games for consoles or handhelds, unless it is something you'd see in the newspapers like the typical crossword puzzle, or the recently popular numbers game sudoku. They all have been so well-rendered to keep your mind in tip top shape. As for Nintendo, they have also made their mark with the way we play video games on the home market, and the handhelds with the Game Boy rendiditons, and the Nintendo DS nearly over a year ago. Well, Nintendo has put that mental challenge to the extremes for the DS in more ways than one.

Brain Age for the Nintendo DS, is a compilation of all different kinds of games and puzzles that test your ability to read, and apply yourself mentally. The game consists of certain evaluations that reflect on how you remember words, simple math problems, and how fast you can also read. The game also includes sudoku on it, and it tells you how you are with the game, and what you need to do better. The stylus is really used quite well, and much better than most of the other games that rely on it. There also are challenges that test you verbally as well, like the stroop exam where you have to read the color of the text of a word, instead of the word itself. There is one big disadvantage, you have to say the words clearly through the stroop exam, because there are times where you may get the answer right, it might not be registered properly and your score may be affected.

Despite a few flaws on the microphone, Brain Age really is a great mental challenge for Nintendo DS. It is a must buy for the mind as well as the pockets. I love how stimulating the challenges are, and there is so much to go around. I just hope there are more of these mental games for other systems like this one soon, it is definitely something missing for the video game market.

Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV Round 2 FightPad - Cammy

Well, The SF4 round 2 fightpad is almost exactly the same as the round 1 model. The only change is the artwork, obviously. The buttons feel responsive with the exception of the ones on the shoulders. I feel as if the shoulder buttons don't depress enough to give me the satisfaction of pressing a button, but they do make a clicking sound so it's acceptable. The rubber grips work well I suppose, my hands don't sweat at all even if I play for hrs. I personally think that the "turbo" button is too close to the "back" button, I used to hit it accidentally while trying to press back(until I opened up the controller and removed the turbo button lol). The D-Pad still has its huge size but I don't mind at all as moves come out easier. If I had to describe how it feels, I'd say its like the D-Pad was placed on the shaft of joystick. I have 2 MAJOR gripes with these controllers. 1. The plastic MC uses on the D-Pad is too slippery(coming from a man whose hands don't sweat during play). I modified my D-Pad to my liking, some people prefer it the way it is. My 2nd gripe with the controller is that after awhile of heavy use, the D-Pad gets "mushy" and sometimes sticks in place. I opened up the controller and discovered that the mushiness was a result of the silicon membrane(the thing that makes buttons pop back up after you press em') underneath the D-Pad was actually breaking!!! I find that unacceptable since my wired 360 controller which I had for over 3 years still works fine. Maybe madcatz should sell silicon membranes for the people who spend $40 a pop just to get a new one(since the controller itself is fine, just the D-Pad membrane). So is this controller good for fighting games, YES. Would I buy another one if this one malfunctions, NO. Hope you found this helpful.

This controller is a great for those who no longer wish to deal with the inaccuracies of the xbox 360 controller at an affordable price. The DPad feels great, the Zangief design looks awesome, and the botton layout is intuitive. There is one caveat, however, the controller starts to hurt the thumbs after extended use.

it really does the trick... Ive actually had this pad before... after a while they have a tendency to die out on you but thats only if you game very hard everyday like I do.... I think I had one bad pad out the package and ironically I bought it straight from madcatz at Final Round 15......

Best controller ever made. Very easy to use and comfortable for those who play for long periods of time and the button layout reminds me of the sega Saturn pad back in the day.my only issue is the d pad. The pad wears out after a few months to the point that if you press down or down forward it will stay stuck. Other than that issue it is a good buy.

It seems the more you read people talking about this game they either love it or hate it. I fall in the middle. I am just a casual gamer I play every now and then at night or on weekends, but I don't spend every waking moment with a controller in my hands. So take that into consideration as I make this review.

If you are trying to chose between the kollector's edition and the basic game save your money. The comic book that comes with the game is a quite small and almost just like a pamphlet and does not really add anything to the story. There is a small poster and a making of dvd. but you will probably be able to see all those videos on youtube before too long. And the game does not even come in a plastic case but just a cardboard sleeve.

Overall I think this a fun game. I have been playing Mortal Kombat games for a long time now and I find this one just as enjoyable. I think the mix of character is nice with some of your most popular MK characters with some of the most recognizable DC comics heroes and villains.

The gameplay has been tweaked a bit since the previous MK game, but it is nothing that you can't adjust to, and overall I think it offers more character control. The special moves or super moves as called in the game are a fun mix too with most of your favorite moves form you MK characters kept in with a mix of a few new ones to keep things interesting.

We do have a return of the preprogrammed fatalities, but they have been toned down. No more dismemberment, decapitation, or removal of vital organs. This may be a big deal for you, but I don't require a high level of gore to enjoy a video game.

As far as I can tell there are no hidden characters in the game, other then the unlockable boss characters. So don't expect to find Reptile or the Martian Manhunter. But like most Xbox 360 games the game will support downloadable content in the future. But when new fighters show up is up to the video game publisher.

So a hardcore mortal kombat fan or gamer may not enjoy this game too much as it comes up short on gore and hidden characters. But the game still presents and interesting storyline and a chance to play as some of your favorite DC comics characters. I have it I enjoy playing it and hope to have fun with friends playing as superheros and undead ninjas.

I haven't been a fan of MK since after MK II for the Arcades and Super NES. I've tried all the sequels but they just weren't for me, especially the last 4 for the PlayStation and PS2.

MK vs. DC brings this series back to it's roots and it's a lot of fun. The fatalities can be lame but they still do what they're supposed to give you closure to a hard fought victory.

The fighting engine is a little stiff but it doesn't hinder the game play and you get used to it relatively quickly. Besides, I found it more enjoyable that Soul Calibur 4.

Bottom lins is that the game is fun. I received it today and played through the arcade mode with Scorpion and I can't wait to play through it with the other 19 characters.

I hope Midway keeps this engine and fine tunes it for future MK releases. Here's also hoping that the next one is a mature game too. I like the DC characters though and this is a nice one-off game.

Best Deals for Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe Collector's Edition -Xbox 360

Mortal Kombat vs. DC is a pretty good game, for about eight hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story line mode, it was the right blend between comic book and video game story telling.

However, once I completed both story modes and unlocked the two secret characters I then felt like there was nothing else to do in the game.

There are of course endings per character in the game and achievements to get, but overall I was sort of bored with the game after that.

The controls are all right and the graphics very nice. I get sort of frustrated with the fatalities being too difficult to pull off.

My biggest complaint so far is that there isn't much to the game outside of the basic head-to-head combat. I mean, I feel as though there should be different modes, maybe a tag mode. There are not enough secret characters to make me want to play more. In truth there are no challenges I'm even remotely interesting in trying to accomplish and no treats for accomplishing them. The character endings are sort of bland and sort of like bad/boring Twisted Metal endings (though Twisted Metal endings are better and funnier).

So basically, in this day that I'm paying $60 for a game, I'm not too happy with what this game delivered in the sense of content. No special game play modes, no interesting endings, not enough secret content and so on.

Here are a few things I think could have improved the game:

1. More fatalities (2 per character isn't enough for me)

2. More secret characters

3. More special play modes

4. Maybe some sort of Battle Chess mode, where you get to play chess using each side and there is a little quick animated fights as a piece is taken. (maybe you can even add a challenge piece to this where the player who would normally lose a piece can play a MK combat and the winner is the one who loses)

Anyhow, buy it used for $20, you'll be happier.

Honest reviews on Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe Collector's Edition -Xbox 360

Let's face it, this wasn't the best fighting game in the market. But there was a very good reason for that. Well, TWO very good reasons for that. And they are called MORTAL KOMBAT (9), and INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US. This allowed the developers to see and hear exactly what should change, and what should stay the same. Needless to say, a lot needed changing. But now that we got INJUSTICE and the MORTAL KOMBAT SEQUEL, I'm willing to go on a limb and say, 'this wasn't so bad.'...

The Good: Fighting back to it's roots, DC characters are great to play as, looks awesome, new elements are nice

The Bad: Toss away story mode, no gore, fatalities are kind of lame, not much content

I'm not going to lie when I say Mortal Kombat is my favorite game franchise of all time mainly because it was the first game I ever played when I was 2 years old. I love the gore, the characters, the story, the secrets, and inside stuff that true MK fans know about, but adding DC characters was a bit dicey, but surprisingly works. The game's story is pretty straight forward with both universes colliding and each sides' main villians are turning into one and controlling everyone else through a type of berserk mind control. You can play as various characters in separate story modes, but it's nothing special.

The Arcade mode is where it's at with all you favorite MK characters and DC characters such as Batman, Superman, Catwoman, and even Captian Marvel. Each character on the DC side has their signature powers and they are awesome to play as. The game's combat system is more like it's roots stripping away combat styles, weapons, and complicated combos with just fast paced fun. The animations are smoother, controls respond better, and the game really packs a punch.

Of course it's hard to please both sides of the fence, but the MK side takes a hit with no gore. I guess Midway couldn't get the DC guys to allow Sub-Zero to rip Superman's head off so the Fatalities are pretty lame. They feature no gore, but just really brutal deaths, and the DC guys never kill so they are Heroic Brutalities...yeah what BS. This really screws the MK fans, but the DC guys are very tight arsed about everything, and that's why I still think this should have been Marvel instead (the last Wolverine game was gory as sin). Some DC HB's are OK at best. Joker's one of my favorites with him shooting a fake gun and dancing around in his silly fashion, but most are pretty lame like Green Lantern just running around a character a lot until they die...yeah really exciting. The MK characters are a little more retro with Scorpion turning characters into char so this is OK. I just wish the game would have been gory, but what's here is good enough.

The MK guys really captured the characters of the DC personalities like Catwoman's slinky sexy movements, Joker's maniacal pranks, Batman's precision martial arts, and Superman's brute force. It makes MK fans really want to try DC characters without sticking to their favorites. Or course the roster could have been a lot bigger, but thanks to Midway tanking extra downloadable characters will never happen like planned.

There are some nice new features to the game such as a test-your-might type mini-game during Free Fall Kombat and Klose Kombat which allows you to grab your opponent but the camera zooms in and you press buttons to trick them until get every hit in for 30% damage. Free fall is the same except you have to hit RB before you hit the ground to unleash an attack on them. This changes up the fighting and adds a nice tough, but could have been a bit more. The new Rage mode allows you to take advantage of this berserk mind control and makes you nearly invincible for a certain amount of time. Along with this combo breakers return, but that's about it.

The game looks really good and is the first MK game on a next-gen console. Characters are rendered in sharp detail and have more detail than ever before. Each DC character has their signature costume and looks amazing, but the music is very lacking. The levels are great and wonderfully designed, and the multi player is what will make you keep coming back. While the game lacks the MK gore the fact that two highly unlikely worlds collide makes it great enough to play.

Note: Kollector's Edition: If you want to shell out the extra $20 you can get a nice new cover drawn by Alex Ross, making-of DVD, and a 16 page comic book penned by series creator John Tobias. While it doesn't seem to enticing it's great for MK fans or fans of comics.
