Plantronics GAMECOM 1 PC HEADSET ( 67003-01 ) Reviews

This headset has a good sound and, because they are lighter than other similar headsets and they have very soft cushioned ear pads, they are extremely comfortable to wear. I have also been extremely pleased with the quality of the sound recorded from the microphone. I've used this headset for voice-over recordings, online gaming, and talking on Skype, and I've been thrilled with the quality. I've recommended this set to numerous friends and family members because of the high quality combined with the low price. However, although this set has a good sound and records very well, this set won't last very long. I bought my headset about a year ago, and it has worked splendidly for the last year. But, today I was using it to record some audio for a project and it crapped out on me. The earphones still sound fantastic, but the microphone no longer works. However, because of the cheap price and great quality, I've decided to purchase another set. Some people have reported sound problems, which also happened to my sister. I suspect that problem might be related to the long cord. The cord on this headset is about six feet long, which is great for an extended reach, but bad because it means there's a bigger chance that you're going to roll over the cord with your chair or snag it on something and yank it off your head (I believe my sister did that, which damaged the headset). So, if you're careful you may be able to avoid that problem. In my case, the mic stopped working, so I assume that the wires in the positionable microphone have become frayed or loose. Although I'd expect that to happen over time, I do not expect that to happen in just a year. However, this headset is so cheap and the quality of the sound is so good, I'm still going to purchase another set. The bottom line with this set: Fantastic sound reproduction and recording capabilities from a cheap-as-dirt headset, but you pay for that in shortened lifespan.

I decided to give the Plantroincs Gamecom 1 PC headset a try for a few reasons:

1. Good luck with other Plantronics products in the past

2. Reports of Comfort

I'm happy to say that so far they have lived up to expectations. Good quality sound and the foam pads are much more comfortable than the faux leatherette pads found on products like logitech. I can wear these comfortably for hours even though I wear glasses. Highly recommended.

Edit:

Almost 2 years later and still using the same headset. So add "durable and long lasting".

Purchased these from an Amazon partner company for less than $12 refurbished, but I believe it was just an "open box" set. I've been using them to play online for about a month now and am completely satisfied.

I trashed a set of Altec Lansing AHS615 because the inner speaker sat on my ear along with the surrounding support cushion after a couple of hours my ears started to hurt.

I can wear the Gamecom models all day without a problem and, based upon other reviews, think they may be one of the best on the market. They're also very light in weight.

Sound quality is great, decent bass and high-to-mid frequency output levels all are mixed very well.

Overall I would recommend these to anyone looking for a nice headset/mic combo that provides quality performance without being overpriced.

Honest reviews on Plantronics GAMECOM 1 PC HEADSET ( 67003-01 )

I got these headphones based on reviews i've read other places. I got them for under 20 dollars shipped and recieved them about a week later. They are very comfy and highly adjustable to fit anyones head (in fact my tower pc wears them when i am not)

I play a lot of battlefield 2 and other online games. Before the headphones i was a marginal player, but with the headphones and the built in mic, you have total immersion into the game. You can hear enemies approaching from further away that you couldnt hear before, not to mention that i hear ambient sound effects from the game that i didn't know existed. There have been times i have heard things to think that it was something in my room and it turned out to be the headphones. the sound is Excellent and i would reccommend them to anyone who plays games online. The mic is great and works well, it even folds up out of the way when you aren't using it. The bass is FANTASTIC and it makes explosions feel very loud and rumbley in your whole body it seems like.

The cord is about 10 feet long and although it is very thin and would probably break easy, i am not rough on my equipment. I think it will last long enough to get WELL over my 20 dollars worth. It also has a built in mic and volume control as well as a mic mute button in the cord. this comes in handy when you arent using the mic or when you want to mute your cursing when you get killed ;-)

Bottom line... if you play games online, get these. If you play games by yourself but want to crank the volume and play loud at night, get these. If you just want to hear the games the way they are supposed to sound, get them. I will get another set of these if they break.

Also, music is not bad, considering the price. Although there are sets that are better for music, these headphones do it all and very well. Cannot go wrong!

Well, it was a great buy for the first year. After that it started loosing sound in the right ear. I figured I could live with that. Now it looses sound in both ears on and off. I go from sound to nothing to one ear all the time. It is the most annoying thing I have ever experienced. Buy a better headset and don't spend the money twice.

I've gotten burned out on the Call of Duty series, so a co-worker recommended I pick up Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I must say, this game has exceeded my expectations in almost every way: the team play is rock solid, the "new" game style (new for me) is refreshing, and the vehicles, in my opinion, are quite possibly one of the best parts of the game (though I REALLY DO wish the developers would add some kind of portable, self-guided AA weapon, like a Stinger or Javalin missile). This has to be one of the most realistic military shooters I've played in a while. I especially like how the bullets drop due to gravity (which makes sniping a bit more challenging, yet *a lot* more gratifying when you can get that long distance head shot). There are, however, a couple of things I dislike about the game, so let me get those out of the way first, before I state some of the reasons why BF:BC2 is one of *the most* entertaining shooters of this year.

First off, I have no idea why the developers didn't add the ability to go prone. In real life, if someone is shooting at you, you're first reactions are probably going to be to drop to the ground to make your silhouette as small as possible. I understand how this might make "camping" a bigger issue, but there are so many things in the game that seem to discourage it (including the fact that the maps are so large), that I feel it shouldn't have been an issue. Another thing I found odd, is that unlike most games, there is no button or "action" to climb through windows. Not a huge problem, but definitely inconvenient at times (one work-around is to jump on the window sill, and then crouch to go through it, but it's tricky and takes a little practice). Finally, I wish that you could "take cover" and peek around corners (much like you can in Gears of War), though I guess that's just one of those "niceties" that are a personal preference. Anyways, on to the good parts.

Right off the bat, I think one of the many things I find appealing about BC2 (especially when compared to CoD: MW2) is how they quasi-limit what each class can equip, which I feel like prevents people from creating "super troopers" that can dominate the entire game. Speaking of which, something that used to *drive me nuts* is how it seemed like one person could win the entire match for their team (which has never made sense to me). In Battlefield BC2, it relies on, and fairly generously rewards especially in reguards to your own squad, the team players (as in those players who perform actions that benefit the team), which is much more realistic than everyone trying to go in like some kind of Rambo/Bourne "Army of One" (just ask anyone in the military and they'll tell you that is they first thing they train you not to do). Although it requires a different mindset from most First Person Shooters (and just FYI, it definitely helps if you have a squad full of friends you can talk to, instead of some random PUG), I've seen it work on many occasions, and in my opinion, creates a much more interactive and interesting game. Secondly, the destructible buildings are a HUGE win. Although it can suck when you're trying to take cover in a building that all of a sudden comes crashing down on you, it adds another layer of realism to an already immersive environment. Finally, I *really* like how intuitive and easy they made the game for linking up with your friends in multiplayer. I would have to argue that it's one of the best interfaces I've seen lately, making it very easy to start a squad with your friends and then connect to a game together, or you can just pick up in the middle of whatever game/squad they're already in (assuming, of course, there's room).

All in all, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has definitely changed the way I think about and view what a FPS (and for that matter, a military-styled FPS) should be. I think this game has raised the bar, and hopefully set the standard, as to what is possible in a vast, multifaceted, interactive world where you almost feel like you're in the middle of a real war. I was very tempted to give this game 5 stars, but I'm pretty selective/picky when it comes to giving out "perfect scores", and feel that there were enough (very) minor issues to prevent me from doing so; however, if I could give it a 4.9, I would. If you're looking for an alternative to the repetative "run & gun" shooters that a lot of companies seem to be trying to emulate and/or imitate, I *highly* recommend you pick up Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and give it a try.

I've been playing this game for a little over 2 months now and so far it still delivers every single day. I play mainly on line with other people through the Rush and Conquest modes. Even though the maps do repeat on a daily basis, there are now about a dozen maps to play, and because they are so big, and because every player uses different tactics, the game is never the same twice.

The graphics are still IMHO better than the on line version of CoD Black Ops and the play is still more realistic as far as I am concerned. Buildings crumble or can be demolished. A huge assortment of weapons keeps gameplay very entertaining and I often find myself going back to some of the earliest weapons available in play just so I can get more points killing. (there is an objective to this game in multiplayer other than just killing for points)

A new map pack 7 was just released with 4 new great maps and the Vietnam expansion is coming on December 21st. I simply can't wait and will probably spend my entire Christmas weekend playing on my xBox.

For those that don't know, the on line experience can be played with as little as one or two people a team, though the game allows up to 12 people per side. Each "team" can be broken up into groups of 4 called squads. Squad members can chat with each other and spawn off each other in the game. if the squad is a good one, they will typically have one of each type of character. (Recon, Medic, Assault, and Engineer) Having a multitude of characters enables the best fighting IMHO because people can more easily "cover your back" As an example:

Medic the medic typically carries a machine gun that holds a very large capacity of bullets. This is exceptional for clearing out large numbers of enemies who may be spawning off each other. When other guns are used, one sometimes has to stop to reload and gets killed. the medic also carries a defib device and can revive teammates who have gotten killed. (or kill enemies with it)

Engineer, the engineer can carry around anti vehicle weapons and plant tracer darts so other team members can more easily shoot down choppers and identify enemy vehicles. the engineer can also plant anti tank mines, which work great for destroying heavy armor. The engineer can also use his repair tool to effectively repair vehicles in battle.

Assault, The assault person generally carries a machine gun and a pile of grenades, though depending on the weapon chosen, the assault person can carry large amounts of C4 which is great for blowing up anything and everything including building, vehicles, A and B objectives, or even people. The assault person can also drop ammo packs which re-supply the others on your team and in your unit.

Recon, this is the last of 4 and in no way is this charater any less important. The recon person has a huge choice of weapons available and uses stealth to move around. One weapon might be a long range sniper rifle with scope, or if involved in urban combat, maybe even a shotgun. the recon person can also carry C4 explosives or call in a mortar strike wich is deadly against virtually anything and over time can even destroy buildings. Because of the nature ofthe recon person, this person also often spots enemies for others in the group and "saves" others by sniping enemies who lie in wait to get your teammates.

So there you have it, a brief summary of the play and available characters in the game. At the cuirrent price, it is one heck of a deal and well worthy of getting someone for a gift if they do not yet have this game. Good luck and have fun!

Okay game it self is fun but let me tell you about the things it comes with. I got the game used little did i know all the stuff is a one time use code that Expires August 31,2011 i thought it was all on the disc. Now if you want to buy BFBC2 that's fine just don't buy Ultimate Edition.

Honest reviews on Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition

This game gives you alot for its price.

+ battlefield 1943

+ onslaught mode

Battlefield takes a new depth into the fps. it makes your gameplay change depending on the guns you use. though i can't really say one gun class dominates multiplayer because the maps make it so that you have the options of sniping, running and gunning, hide and shoot, and blow stuff up.

+ the games online play is unique in a sense that it is more real than mw2

+ the campaign is pretty sick

+ onslaught mode basically prepares you for multiplayer against the very competitive xbox live community

+ the rankings don't reflect on your k-d of games as much as mw2.

the only negative i can think of for this game would have to be that the servers may kick you out every now and then. otherwise this game blows out mw2 in the strategy department of online play. for instance you can't expect to flank the other team and kill everyone unless you have a sniper and find great clearing. It makes you work more as a team than lone wolf play.

This game IMO is better than Battlefield 3. This game beats MW2, MW3, This game is for hardcore players (ONLY) no running around knifing people like Rambo. Your skills will be put to the test. Also for the ones saying the codes expire August 31, 2011 you are all wrong! The codes still work, learn to try before you cry. To those of you who want a realistic modern day shooter than go with BC2 you won't regret it.

Great Racing Game! Graphics are great, configurable, controls work, drives very realistic. Best game to have force feedback. Audio is good!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This is the best ralli racing game on the market as of 2005. Microsoft has put out one awesome game with graphics, controls, and sounds. Details...details...details....if youre driving in a safari race, you can see zebra herds running in the distance. Dirt is flying up as you handbrake around tight corners, the sound of the engine changing gears is so lifelike. Car damage could have been a little better perhaps, but thats the only area Colin 2005 has over this older game. I'm still playing this game online in 2007, so there are plenty of folks out there still racing! You can do career mode, time trials, online, and as in other games you have to unlock your way to different cars and tracks. Two levels...easy and normal and both are pretty easy. First time thru i literally won every race the first time on easy mode, so you might want to steer away from that. Controls are simple and easy to configue using either keyboard, wheel, pad, or stick. Theres a new sega ralli game comign out later this year that might knock off this game from the best ralli racing spot, but until then this is king! Graphics and sounds are killer and the game takes up less than 2gb on your hard drive. Even with a poor video card, you can get pretty good graphics and framerates. I started with a 5600fx card back in 2003 and upgraded later to my 7800gsoc. I got great graphics and effects with both, so this game ISN'T a system hog. Get it..you'll luv it!

This game does not deserve a 1 star for a rating! It is a fabulous and fun game!

I won't review the full game, as it's been reviewed before, and this is the gold edition. Instead, I will be reviewing the product being sold as the gold edition, keeping it short and simple so you know what you're getting.

The Good:

*No DRM! The game comes with a serial that you put in when you first install the game. It does not use internet activation. It does not have limited installs. All that it requires is the serial number put in after you first time you start the game. Play the game on all your computers without worry! Thank you!

*It comes with the original Tropico 3 and it's expansion, Absolute Power. They are both on 1 DVD, which makes it a whole lot easier to install and back-up.

*It comes with a full fleshed out manual! I'm disapointed in todays games, a lot never seem to come with manuals. This game comes with a full printed manual that you can read and learn about the game. Lets face it, manuals rock!

*The game comes fully patched with the latest patch.

The Bad:

To be honest, after playing for over 30 hours, I have yet to find anything bad about the game. It is one of the funnest city sim building type games I have ever played. I am finding it very addciting! I missed out on Tropico 1 and 2, and now I'm sorry I did! Tropico is truly a great city sim building game, with it's own unique humor on you being El Presidente.

If you want more information on Tropico 3, read some of the reviews for Tropico 3 here on Amazon. All that I can say, is that The Tropico 3 Gold Edition is a great deal and a great buy!

I've played all of the Tropico games and Tropico3 has excellent graphics and is a beautiful game. However after a while it gets very predictable even before playing through all the scenarios. One thing I definitely dislike about the game is the fact that it seems designed to make you struggle for cash no matter what you do or how you play. (Frankly, I get enough of that in real life.) It seems that expenses are sometimes set to drain the treasury no matter what one does. That is not fun in my book.

I'm glad I didn't pay full price for the game but for what I did pay it is worth many hours of amusement, I just think game play could have been improved to match the beautiful graphics. The Gold Edition is a good buy for those who like these kinds of games.

I love the first game tropico and have dissapointed with tropico 2, but now we back to the basic rules of dictatorship. Now I have plenty hours perfectioning my presidencial skill levels.

This is a really good game with an excelent music too.

This is a light strategy game that is not too complicated to learn for beginners. The graphics are real nice. We would recommend.

Not a Bad Buy at allllll. much cheaper then the sony one. its great for most games but let me warn you that Shooter games will be more difficult to handle due to the analog sticks. hard to explain to be honest. they dont always let you Aim your gun Accurately and can realy screw you over. as for a racing games or other such games its a great product. it looks veryy identical to a Brand Sony Controller with minor different Details. i hade no issues with any of the bottons, though you will notice there not as easy to push in as sony brand. the bottoms will take a bit more of force. also yes the Wireles DOESS work on this controller. it was already fully charged when i got it but i hade to sync it with my USB Cable Wire. it does NOT include its own wire so you must already have one. not sure how long it will last without the wire connected but i did play wireles for 2 full hours, im sure itl last even longer. good buy, but not the best for shooters.

Its Made in China

I got this because my boys constantly try to destroy my OEM PS3 controllers, they can take this one apart without fear of losing a $50 Control. The game was great as far as outward condition an shipping, but my son never got to play it bc it doesnt work on a xbox 360. Its for the original xbox. I rarely give 5 stars, but this one is close. For the original xbox, this is one of the funnest games I've played. Almost as good as the GTA franchise. If you played the first one, You notice it was kinda fun. The improvements on this one make it far superior to the last installment.

originality7/10 (loses points for being made after gta, high score for being a cop and being improved upon)

graphics 8/10

sound 8/10

replay 5/10 (not a whole lot to do once you beat it, also might get old after a while)

fun factor 9/10

over all 8.5-ish

A much under-rated game by the gaming community. The button layout/interface is far better than the fist game, as is the amount of stuff to do (customizing character and cars, out running cops, different fighting styles, entering buildings, and more)

Unfortunately, this game isn't compatible for the 360... but the first one is.. ughh.

This is fun, breathtaking game cube action. My children, like it, I like it, and everyone likes it. It fits well with the game cube controller, and the graphics especially on canopy heights and the level following are quite impressive. It is somewhat Frogger-like but with a good adaption to game cube. A great game!!

I really liked Frogger Beyond, but I love Zapper. The cool thing about Zapper is you can zap your enemies with a standard zap or a super zap. While playing Frogger Beyond I kept wishing that Frogger had some kinda attack. Well Zapper does and it's a cool additive to Frogger Beyond-type gameplay. The graphics are crisp and clean. There are beautifully designed worlds with challenging levels. A fun game for all ages.

This title was okay but I thought it could have been much better. I would say its a cheap ripoff of crash bandicoot. Im 20 and am having a very hard time getting into this game enough to play it all the way through. The movement is somewhat hard to adjust to and I find the gameplay itself somewhat boring. The boards are nice looking but thats where I think the ripping off of crash came into play. I spent 7 dollars on this game new and was dissapointed. I guess if you have nothing better to play it might be alright but I would highly recommend something else.

The plum color is absolutely perfect, I love the solidness of it and the fact that its not coated, only problem I had with it, several parts don't line up the way they're supposed to once you have everything screwed together.

The controller shell and buttons came as described. The color was a little reddish. If looking for a dark purple, this may not be the a good buy. I am still happy with the quality. The only con I have is the start buttons didn't fit when initially putting everything together. I had to sand down the holes a little but to get them to fit right.

Best Deals for Purple Case Shell Cover + Buttons for Game XBox 360 Wireless

It's a wonderful product, great color...very true to the pictures. BUT, it is a bit on the small side when it comes to the cut-outs for the buttons. I have had to shave a few of them down with a file, and will still have to take it off and shave down the holes for the bumpers again (as it causes them to stick, making you constantly waste grenades in Black Ops). Other than that, I'm very happy with the purchase!

Make sure you only put this in once because if you're not carefully you will brake the tabs off that hold it in. If you get it right the first time it looks nice.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Very difficult to install unless you have jig to place your cover in to cut out whole placement. Product is made out of very hard plactic. Clips will break off if you try and force them. If you plan on doing this your self take your time. If you install it correctly it looks Great with the Max whisper fans and Aurora light kit....

Best Deals for Xray for Xbox 360

First of all, this talismoon window would be a whole lot better if the clips where stronger, unfortunately that is not the case as I got a few broken while trying to fit it on the cut plastic. But I do got to say that I was able to save most clips from braking off and fit it with no gaps. You can see the pics of my Gears of War theme. So take your time cutting and filing away the edges before you try to press on the window so that you dont break any clips.

Honest reviews on Xray for Xbox 360

I had a terrible time with this. The plastic tabs that hold this in place do not flex and are very brittle. I ended up buying another window after the first try left me with a window with no tabs to hold it in. I thought the second time would be better because I adjusted my cut, but after a couple tries I broke more tabs and now it is in place but there are gaps on both sides where there is no tab to hold it in place. You're are better off using some sort of power tool, like jig saw and buying thin plexiglass and glueing it in place.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Xray for Xbox 360

If you are considering this as an option to insert a clear window into your xbox 360 consider lexan plexiglass. It comes with directions to install. When you go to cut, score, or dremel this around the edge of the piece of paper that you stick on you are left with a gap that renders this ineffective. If you are to purchase this dremel or cut exactly on the edge of the paper to get the cut right.

I enjoyed Prototype 2 very much when I bought it. However, in two days I had beaten the game. I decided to purchase Radnet DLC, which claims an impressive "55 DLC packs."

For all the hype, I was disappointed in my purchase. Those "55 DLC packs" are mostly challenges and timed events. Goals such as how far can you toss a human/infected, or how many enemies can you kill in a certain amount of time. In Prototype 1, these challenges were included in the game at no extra cost.

By completing a set of challenges in Prototype 2, a player may unlock more powers. They are as follows:

Fast Learner: Get 25% more EP for kills

Health Pack: Brawler Pack has 25% more health

Ravenous: Enemies require 10% less damage to consume

Security Blanket: Regenerate 1% health per second while blocking

Weightless: Float higher after triggering a second Glide mid-flight

Fast Learner's exp boost is unnecessary, since I maxed my character out before the second playthrough was complete. Only the security blanket and weightless are usable on the final boss battle, and neither are necessary.

People who enjoy challenges may find the DLC worthwhile. I wanted more story-driven content, and this DLC does not provide what I really wanted; more missions, characters to interact with, etc. In my opinion, the challenges detracted from the experience, by reminding me this is a game instead of an interactive story. When I'm going on a mission to save my character's loved ones from danger, it kills the mood to see a new high score pop up for performing some random act.

Since Prototype 1 provided most of this content for free, I did not consider this DLC worthwhile. I regret paying $5 for the sale price, and I would have been angered if I had paid the full suggested $10 price.

It's DLC... Can't really argue, right? :). I forgot what this added on, but the game is great. Go around doing stuff, and "stuff" and some extreme "STUFF."

Recommending Wreckess poses a dilemma. There are so many things about the game that are good, most specifically those things surrounding the graphics. Wreckless contains a beautiful and detailed Hong Kong cityscape and is chock full of special effects. After a mission you can watch a replay that is stunningly realistic. The game is also easy to pick up and lots of fun to play.

So what's the problem? Unfortunately, this is not a game that will grip you for hours. After the pretty graphics and the novelty of smashing everything in sight wear off, you find the gameplay has little substance. Drive around, smash stuff, drive around some more, etc. Don't get me wrong, the game can be great fun, but only as something you pick up every once in a while when you want a quick and fast-paced game. Don't hesitate to buy Wreckless up if you can get it at a discount. Otherwise, you might want to try a rental first.

One last thing that should be mentioned. This game is based in Hong-Kong, so vehicles drive on the wrong (i.e., left) side of the road. This means that when you start, you will find that your natural inclinations meet you head on with a lot of traffic. In order to be able to complete more advanced levels, you have to learn to get in and stay driving in the left lane.

I was hyped up! The back of the disc case showed quite promising graphics. I went to the video store...rented it...put it in...and-------> :-O (What have I done!)

The intro scenes of this game, Wreckless, reminds me of Dragon Balls..or one of those Japanese cartoons & animation. Sure, they are neat, but not into it. They tried to make it a bit comic, but I only found it quite cheesy.

Ok...about the game itself. I would have to point out the graphics are quite impressive, quite detailed...of the city streets, buildings, and signs. There is also quite a bit of traffic too, unlike games like GTA 3 of Vice City, there are barely any cars on the road for a city of a few million. However, it does get annoying at times (in Wreckless) when you are trying to finish your missions, often running into other cars in a 2-lane street.

However, I am GREATLY disappointed with the car physical damage effects in this game (eventhough the car modelling is quite good and realistic). They are beyond terrible. It is funny thinking back how the video game salesman told me how great this game is, and how it has one of the greatest car damage effects out of all games in PS2. BS! You can rear-end or hit the opponents' cars at full speed, you still don't see a damage on them. After a few hits, however, you will see the windows crack (eventhough there is not 1 scratch or dent on the body). Unfortunately, it was so unsuccessfully made that it just looks like a bunch of spider webs or simply fixed curvy crossed-lines. Oh, and I suppose when you hit them from behind, not only the rear glass will crack, mysteriously, the FRONT AND THE SIDE windows will also do the same...with the same patterns too. And the next damage it will show is the whole car being blown up...and disappears after a few seconds. I would recommend GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 & VICE CITY...or even STUNTMAN for better car damage graphics. However, if you run your car through markets, stands, and fences, it is not only quite realistic, it is also fun.

The gameplay...BORING. I finished a few missions/levels... but I felt no sense of achievements. I didn't have the motivation for continuation. Therefore, I returned it. Overall, the gameplay is dull and boring (pretty much just ramming opponents' cars with almost no physical damage..until it all of a sudden blows up). It holds very little interests.

Overall WRECKLESS

Car damage effects: 1/5

Graphics: 4/5

Gameplay: 2/5

for the first five minuts the distruction is cool but then it gets really r haven't unlocked free roam, however, just playing the missions, it doesn't seem like free roam could be all that fun. there . simply wouldn't be anything to do. even running over people is really [bad] in this game they just kind of fall dopwn and then get back up again. as for the objects, it is like Spyhunter whewre there is that arangement of [stuff] you can go through and they kind of just sorta of sink onto the ground. the gameplay is fairly fun though, and the graphics are really good-exept for the horid frame rate! ... asa for the shuting part, it is lame and doesn;t reallyh make the game better.

I think I will sell it and get burnout; maby that will be better. after that I will save up for "The Getaway'...

My first flight stick (or joystick) was the Microsoft Force Feedback Pro which was a very good stick it had some 'slop' in it which eventually got so bad that it was no longer tolerable. It was rugged and comfortable to use, but Microsoft quit making them & also quit supporting them in many flight Sims & newer games. I then had two Saitek Cyborg Evo Joysticks. The first one developed a problem after 11 months with little use, when it went out of calibration and the rudder output stuck in 50% left rudder position and couldn't be fixed by recalibration so it was replaced under 1-year warranty. Within 10 months switch #5 quit working on the second or replacement joystick so at this point I decided to look for a different manufacturers joystick because by now I had lost faith in Saitek being able to make a reliable joystick. I am seventy years old and I take good care of my equipment I don't abuse my joysticks so if they don't last for me I doubt that they would last for anyone. I searched Amazon reading joystick reviews and came across the T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3. This joystick had the features I wanted and was rated very high almost 5 stars even though at the time it had only five reviews so I ordered it.

This joystick can be used with either a PC or PlayStation 3. It has a PC-PS3 switch so you can select which one you use.

It came with the throttle and joystick separated so I decided to try it this way for a while. I've had this joystick now since the first week in August 2009 and I really like this joystick.

PRO:

1. It comes in two parts, the throttle & joystick, separated by an interconnecting cable approximately 18" between them but, they can be mounted together as one assembly if desired as the necessary wrench is included and the throttle & joystick are designed to be mounted together as one unit. I like them separated as it is more realistic with the throttle on my left and the joystick on my right.

2. Very simple to connect to your computer. You connect the joystick to the USB port on your computer via the integral USB cable & connector that's it! No separate power supply or adapter is required because this joystick gets its power from your computer through the USB cable/connection.

3. No installation CD included or required as once you connect this joystick to your computer it is automatically recognized and calibrated a plug & play joystick they don't get any simpler than this!

4. The throttle & joystick are very comfortable to hold & use. Together they have twelve programmable switches which are very easy to use on both the throttle & joystick. There are four programmable switches on the joystick module and eight on the throttle module. The joystick can be twisted left-right for the rudder control the throttle module has a slider switch which can also be used for rudder control if so desired. Also there is an eight-position hat switch located on top of the joystick this is normally used for 'looking around' in flight simulator programs. Both modules are quite robust & heavy enough so they don't move around much unless you really give them some pushing around.

5. So far this joystick is performing excellent & a great buy for the money.

CON:

1. None that I know of so far except maybe it would be nice to have the interconnecting cable between the joystick & throttle modules be longer & have connectors that can be unplugged in case of damage they could be replaced. Also I'd like to be able to move them a little further apart.

UNKNOWN:

1. How long will this last before something goes wrong? Only time will tell.

T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3

With Tom Clancy's HAWX on the way to the PS3 later this season, and my sudden urge to revisit Freespace 2, X-Wing, the Wing Commander games on my PC, I decided to give this joystick a shot since it was cheaper than PS3 version of the Saitek Aviator, and it's also a hands-on-the-throttle model. I am sure glad I did! This stick is awsome, I am very glad that I gave it a chance even though reviews were scarce.

It has just about every button you could possibly want in a joystick, they all fell right when pressed, it's programmable, has a throttle with an alalog rocker for even more control options, and it all feels very intuitive when held. I tested it in the Windows game controller utility and everything seems to move quite precisely. Afterwards, I played Freespace 2 and the demo for the Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line mod, and it was a total blast. I was able to map the controls perfectly to all the buttons on the stick, and I was flying like an ace in no time.

They really thought of just about everything for this stick. The throttle module is actually detachable via an included Allan wrench, so if you prefer "cockpit accurate" distance between the stick and throttle, it's there for you. There's even a knob on the bottom of the stick that lets you adjust how much resistance the spring gives you! Pretty much the only thing you don't get is force feedback, but that's hardly shocking since this is an under $50 stick. It's even lap friendly, which is dandy if you don't have a coffee table or your desk is too crowded.

Overall, this is a very good stick, and is great for PS3 users or people looking for an entry level stick for their PC. For under $50, you'd be hard pressed to find a Hotas model as good as this one, and I'd much rather use this for my PS3 than a Saitek Aviator due to it's more solid build quality and hands-on throttle. Unless you'd rather drop $100 on a fancier model, Thrustmaster's console-friendly offering will serve you very well.

T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3

This is my second one. I bought the first from Amazon last October-08. I was impressed with it's construction and overall operation ,but it had a few quirks. So I sent it back and paid the re-stock fee.

I've been a Microsoft Flight Simmer for 7-8 years and I've tried and/or owned almost all the joy-sticks and yokes(with and without foot pedals)that have been marketed in this country.

I have a soft spot for my Logitech 3-D Pro that has served me well for many years but I never really cared for their throttle design, and I guess thst's what attracted me to the Thrustmaster Hotas.

After waiting 6-months to give the manufacturer a chance to make another production run (and hopefully overcome the faults I found on my first one) I ordered another and found that it worked flawlessly. I am now a happy "camper".

If joy sticks are your thing, look no further, THIS IS THE ONE.--- Extremely well made, solid professional feel, smooth control actions that allow precise take-offs and landings, heavy weighted, priced right and delivered by Amazon.

Order one now, you won't be sorry !!!!

Honest reviews on Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick

I've used it for a month now with FlightGear (a serious non-combat PC flight simulator).

The good:

* It has enough buttons and axes for most needs. No matter what you buy, you'll always have to use the keyboard/mouse for some operations such as starting engines, lights, radio. The rocker built into the throttle may be mapped to the rudder if you don't like to rotate the stick.

* It's also comfortable to the hand.

THE BAD:

* Large dead zone. Explanation: The "dead zone" or "dead band" is the small range of motion around the center position where the joystick reports no change. It makes it easier to fly level without holding the stick, but for small corrections (e.g., to stay aligned with the runway when landing) you'll have to swing across that zone. Games (e.g. HAWX) help with this by averaging and filtering your input, but with flight sims you'll overcorrect all the time and you'll hate it.

* You may experience some "sticky" friction from time to time, causing jerky motion.

I guess you get what you pay for :)

The T-flight Hotas Stick is designed to connect via the USB port and work with either a PC or a PS3. So far, we've tried it on a PS3 only with the excellent IL 2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey and with Tom Clancy's HAWX.

I will discuss our experience within the context above.

PACKAGING AND SETUP

Not much to complain in this area. the 'instrument' comes nicely packed and it was easy to get it out of the box.

It's initially separated into 2 modules: the joystick/rudder and the throttle and it's possible to use the joystick only. It took us a couple of minutes to figure out how to fit the 2 pieces together but, in the end, it was no big deal. It comes down to tightening a couple of screws with the supplied tool that is stored safely for future use at the bottom of the stick.

The only other adjustments other than 'programming' would be to 'block' the rudder function on the joystick by tightening another screw so that it's only available on the throttle and to set the proper handle resistance via a dial located on the bottom of the joystick module.

Using the stick with the PS3 is as simple as setting the USB selector button to PS3 and plugging the USB connector into one of PS3's ports, then starting the game.

OPERATION

From a PS3, point of view, I am happy to see that all the Six-Axis buttons, including the PS are mapped on the joystick and the throttle and, most of the time, they are clearly labelled. The main differences are of course, this controller being wired and its lacking rumble and motion sensitivity. To avoid complications, it is possible to start your PS3 with the joystick as the only control and then start your game and operate everything this way.

The manual states that, once you begin using it within a game, the stick will calibrate itself after you make a few moves. We haven't experienced calibration issues so it must be true.

The 8 ft. USB chord may be sufficient for most but it wasn't for us. We have a rather large screen and we play from 8-9 ft. away. The AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters) took care of that problem.

My 12 yr. old kid feels that the games are more responsive when using the PS3's own motion-sensitive controller. This is probably the case but what this device provides is some level of realism. It's more realistic to pilot a plane with a stick and a throttle than by tilting and shaking a controller. After a little practice, he now prefers the Stick to the PS3 controller.

MY RATING

I found the T-flight Hotas Stick to be a great way to play flight simulation games and, for the price, it can't get much better than this. I am happy with this purchase and so are my kids. It's 5 stars which, in Amazon translation means "we love it".

PROGRAMMING

We tried it, just for fun and it turns out to be quite easy even though not exactly needed for the games we are currently playing. It's basically a 4-step process that would allow you to:

switch buttons

switch axes between themselves

switch the directions of the same axis

It's done by enabling the 'manual' mode by pressing a button, press and release the mapping button, press the button or direction you want to program, press and release the button or direction you are placing the function. For all of the above there is visual feedback of LEDs flashing.

Like I said, it can be done but it can get complicated quickly. Thankfully, it's easy to erase your manual preset and to return to the factory defaults.
