I've been waiting a long time for a Punisher game. I played the demo in Game Stop and it is awesome. A lot like Max Payne, but populated with various Marvel Comics characters, including Black Widow, Nick Fury, the Russian, Bullseye, Kingpin, Jigsaw, Iron Man, and even Matt Murdock.

All kinds of exotic Punisher weapons, Punisher attitude and Punisher humor. You can make the Punisher interrogate crooks to gain health. One example is by stuffing them into a pool of piranhas to make them talk. But don't keep them under too long or the piranha will eat their face off before they talk.

You can use the crooks you catch as human shields until they are shot to death by their own guys. Great graphics and a good-looking Punisher character. Lots of shooting and situations. Just awesome. It get progressively more difficult as you make your way through the game.

After buying the game I'm even more impressed. The Punisher in the game has Tom Jane's voice from the movie. Great writing and quotes. The opening movie is CG but so photographically stunning you're not sure if it's live action. You unlock other CG movies along the way and they are something else.

The Punisher gets additional health from interrogating bad guys and breaking them for info. He also has a Slaughter Mode that gives him superhuman strength and restores health. The music is top notch too.

This game is rated M for a good reason. There is a lot of obscene language and the Punisher tortures crooks for info. Sometimes they die if you push to hard. So, maybe not for young kids.

I hope there is a Punisher 2 and that it involves him going after Middle Eastern terrorists. I could really get into a game like that. Here they limit it to safe Russians. In a CG movie by Kingpin it is implied that there may be a Punisher 2. I will be looking forward to that. This one had some great chapters. My favorite was at the funeral home where he hides in a coffin and pops up during a funeral to mow down "the family".

You'll love this game if you like single player shooter games or Marvel Comics. And once you've worked your way through once, you'll want to go through again, increase your score, and more fully explore Slaughter Mode and the Quick Kills.

This Game MIGHT just be the GEM of 2005 It's so Cool and fun to Play.. Does have a few Prob. The Audio during the Cut Scenes Being one of them But, that can be over-looked The Story Line is Smart Takes Place after the events of the Movie Saint's Name is Brought up a few times The Voice Acting is Realy Good,(Tom Jane returns as the Punisher) The Gun Play is Fun and Looks Sharp! Has some Unique Moments One takeing Place at A Wake!

Without a Doubt Not for Kids The Mature Rating is Pushesed to the Limits (More Violece & Extreme Gore Then The GTA Games)

The Prev. Punisher Games in the Past have been very Lame

You can tell Both THQ and Marvel did a Great Job on this Action title

If you Enjoyed The Movie or a Fan of the Comic Books you will like it! If you Loved the Max Payne Games you'll Love it

The Best Comic Book Game I've ever Played! Hopefuly if sales are High on this title they can Make a Sequal to the Game and The Movie!

Close to A Perfect Game I give it a 9.5/10

Best Deals for The Punisher - Xbox

The Gameplay, the graphics and the soundtrack are great! The Voice acting is impressive and it is great that we can connect the voice of the film Punisher with the game Punisher since they are one and the same! The unexpected appearances of some much loved or loathed characters added to the gameplay! I won't say who for those who have not finished the game yet but you will be somewhat impressed. The controls on the X-Box version are smooth and the controls on the Playstation 2 version are good too.

Remember to interrogate as many as possible. Even in a fire fight, you can move back to a more secluded place to interrogate.

Remember to take your time with a boss if you have a weaker weapon. The onslaught of typical bad guys gives you ammo.

Stick to the walls or some kind of obstacle in the large gunfights (That is probably just common sense but I thought I'd add it.)

During your second time through try to hop on higher platforms if you can and crouch to avoid damage.

Great game and when you defeat it, play it again!

Semper Fi!

Honest reviews on The Punisher - Xbox

"The Punisher," Marvel's anti-hero with powers more befitting an avid member of the NRA than your typical superhero (in fact he has no super powers to speak of save a seething hatred for all things criminal), finally makes his way into the world of video games post "Max Payne" and "Dead to Rights," and it's immediately clear that he belongs here. Despite simple, derivative gameplay in settings and scenarios that do little to surprise, "The Punisher" manages to entertain thanks in no small part to the character's cold, remorseless demeanor, conveyed in the game via special kills, brutal interrogations, and a John Woo style ballet of bullets.

The game's story, though penned by respected comic book writers regular to "The Punisher" series, does little to envelop the uninitiated in the ruthless world of Frank Castle (aka, the Punisher) beyond the bare bones minimum, but it's enough, coupled with Tom Jane's excellent vocal portrayal. The plot's potential for suspense is foiled by the game's penchant for flashbacks, which represent every mission in the game until the finale, thus killing most any tension it might otherwise have provided. Still, in the most basic fashion, it provides ample excuse to terrorize the criminal underworld and commit unspeakable acts all in the name of cold-blooded vengeance.

It's immediately apparent that "The Punisher" owes a considerable debt to "Max Payne," in that, aside from bullet time, both games are rather identical. Even Castle's forward dive, guns out, looks strikingly Payne-esque. Regardless, "The Punisher" mixes things up a tad by replacing Max's aforementioned time bending fete in favor of slaughter mode, which essentially allows Castle to temporarily throw aside his firearms, flick out a never-ending supply of knives, and have at the bad guys with brutal efficiency. Though it's rarely if ever necessary to switch to slaughter mode, thanks in no small part to the Punisher's resistance to bullets and anything that really resembles pain, it's still a hell of a lot of fun, and some of the quick kills are gleefully sadistic no matter how many times you see them.

With guns blazing, "The Punisher" is a fairly standard and less than awe-inspiring third person shooter, but again the aforementioned quick kills, though perhaps to easy to actually pull off, liven things up considerably. Add in location-specific special kills that allow you to sacrifice thugs upon a pagan alter in a museum or throw old mafia moms from five story windows and you've got a good variety of death-dealing tools at your disposal, and as long as you're not squeamish about violence in your shooters, that's definitely the game's strong suit.

Interrogations are also an option. You can capture bad guys and beat, throttle, or otherwise threaten information out of them, which provides you with a health bonus and, on occasion, some extra goodies for your efforts. None of this is particularly necessary, but of course the true reward is the sadistic practice of draining criminals of all information they possess and then killing them anyway as they plead for mercy they won't actually receive.

"The Punisher" offers a fairly large assortment of weapons, but only a few of them really feel all that different from the rest, and later in the game you'll almost certainly find what you like and stick with it `til the end, essentially killing the initial sense of variety here. And no matter which weapons you take into battle (and you're realistically limited in your selection per mission), the game is far too easy. In fact, it's an out and out cakewalk. Despite Castle's lack of superhero powers, the man is either wearing mithril Kevlar (which is strange) or he's entirely unbothered by your garden-variety bullets (which is stranger). Walking directly up to your standard villain and quick killing him is exceedingly easy because said villain's constant stream of ammunition seems more irritation than out and out threat.

Though the game provides some stirring set pieces (such as a funeral home slaughter), most of its levels are of the "been there, done that" variety especially the docks and warehouses which are enough to elicit groans. What's more, the gameplay rarely ever offers up anything new as it goes, what with its lack of puzzles (at least any that are remotely challenging) and lack of combat diversity. Thank god it's so much fun to interrogate, assassinate, and throw your enemies, because if it weren't the game would proffer little else of value.

What with its linear gameplay, lackluster story, and grossly simple action, "The Punisher" definitely won't tickle every gamer's fancy, but I dare say its sheer, shameless brutality will certainly win over many who give it a chance. All in all, it equals a fun romp that, while not devoid of problems, does a fine job of bringing the comic book character to life in a brand new medium. A tighter storyline, more interesting environments, and a tad more challenge would go a long way toward making a sequel glisten with quality.

Outstanding! From the graphics to the music, dialogue, storyline, and of course the blood and gore. A perfect 10. I do wish the game had been a little longer, but I guess I'll wait on pens and needles for the second in the series. Who would have thought a game would translate this well from the comics to the xbox?

I bought this headset to replace the cheap piece of crap headset that the 360 comes with. My microphone worked but I couldn't hear anything on my old one. I opened the earpice to find one of the wires loose. I tried to solder it back on, but due to the product's low quality, it just fell apart.

I researched many headsets only to be dissapointed. A truly outstanding headset for xbox live has yet to be produced. They all suck in one way or another; some more so than others. I considered the wireless headset despite reviews that feedback on the device was unbearable. A friend of mine got one and I witnessed first hand it's true crapiness.

I then decided to check out Plantronics headsets. I had worked at a call center about a year ago in which we used Plantronics headsets and found them to be great products overall. This model (Gamecom X30) is the best they have out right now, despite the snazzy looking Halo edition headsets they also have out.

Plantronics Gamecom X30:

PROS:

-Great speaker, voices come in LOUD and clear.

-Comfortable, easy to wear on long gaming sessions.

-Sleek design.

-Sturdy build.

-Don't let the "under ear" design turn you off. Once you get used to putting it on, you'll find that this design not only stays well on your ear, but is also great for using with eyewear and headphones.

CONS:

-The mouthpiece picks up air currents (ceiling fan, air conditioning) WAY too much. It lacks the foam covering on the tip, but if you still have the original headset, just remove it from there and put it on this one. It fits well and fixes this problem.

-Despite picking up the wind, the mouthpiece does a mediocre job at picking up your voice! You can ask "can u guys hear me ok?" all day long but the only way to test how you sound is to record a voice message, and then play it back for yourself. You have to really speak up to be heard at a normal tone. There is no silent speaking on this headset, that isn't to say that you have to yell, just project and enunciate.

-The biggest setback on this headset is that the mute/volume controls aren't attatched to the controler like on the original headset. They're on the cable about 16 inches above the input. Make sure to set your volume BEFORE a match!

Overall this is a good headset. It's not outstanding and I kept from giving it 5 stars because of the location of the volume controls. Despite the setbacks, this is still the best headset available, and at a couple of bucks cheaper than the original, it's a definite bargain.

I have to wear headphones whenever I play my Xbox, so I need a communicator headset that fits under the headphones without blocking outside sounds. I tried various cell phone headsets, but they either don't fit right or don't work well with an Xbox.

This headset fits perfectly for me. Some reviewers have said it sits loosely in the ear, and that's true. Without my headphones, I also get the feeling that it will fall out, but it never does. Of course, with headphones it's secure on my head. Another nice feature is that it doesn't block outside sounds, so the audio from my headphones is not muffled. And most importantly, it's comfortable. I can wear it for hours without problems.

Another nice feature is that this headset works with both Xbox and Xbox 360. For the original Xbox, you'll need the adapter that comes with Microsoft's headset.

For those of you who are concerned about the volume control being in the wrong place, Intec makes a headset adapter (ASIN: B000FUG5V8) for the Xbox 360 that works with any headset and provides volume/mute controls just like the Microsoft headset does.

The only problem is that the microphone is weak, and that's why I gave it four stars. To get others to hear you clearly, you need to bend the microphone arm around your face so that the microphone is a few millimeters from your mouth. The microphone is so close that if I pucker my lips, I can touch it. Without headphones to keep the headset in place, it probably moves too much. But for me, the headset is easy to position and works great.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Under Ear Headset

OK, first thing: the headset that comes with the 360 sucks. You know it, I know it. I've been waiting for a decent replacement, and that's just what this new offering from Plantronics is: decent. It's MUCH better than the one that comes with the 360, but it's definately not perfect. First, the UNDER the ear design is odd and takes getting used to. But, the worst part is how they did volume control it's in the middle of the cable itself in a little box with a horrible clip: that's right, to mute or adjust volume, you must remove one of your hands from the controller then locate the tiny box on the wire and make your adjustment. Not conducive to quick battle time changes, I'll tell you!

But, still, overall I like this product, especially at the thirty dollar price point. If it was fifty dollars, I'd pass. I'm suspicious that the much more expensive headsets work even better, but reread the beginning of this sentence to know why I didn't get those ("much more expensive").

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Under Ear Headset

This headset is a little funky and takes time getting used to. It's upside down feature is a little odd but over time is comfortable. It is the best 360 headset that is out to date. The quality of sound is great and it hooks up to your controller with the quick feature of mute at hand.

Don't bother with the microsoft headset, it doesn't cut it.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Xbox 360 Under Ear Headset

I MUCH prefer this headset over the stock headset that comes with the 360. however, I wish they would've kept the on-plug mute switch instead of putting it in-line where I have to stop and look at it to switch it off.

Personally, i feel the the 360 has a great controller for their system. Not that the PS3's is bad, but i really do enjoy the size of the 360's controller. So, when i first heard of this 360 controller for the PS3, i was pretty excited about it.

Unfortunately, it seems like i may have to keep looking.

The Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3 looks pretty great at first, and, in all honesty, isn't that bad. But it seems like it could have been so much better. The product ships with the controller, a USB dongle (for your wireless play), and a cord to charge it with.

Pros:

1) Great size and weight. Very similar to the Xbox's

2) Buttons have a nice glow feature that can be turned on or off by holding the select button and hitting the circle button.

3) Improved triggers (L2/R2). They're not quite a big as the 360's and they aren't as mushy as the PS3's. It's a nice hybrid.

4) The D-Pad seems to function well. Not as good as the PS3's in my opinion, but certainly much better than the 360's.

Neutral (Pro or Con?):

1) The Grip: I wasn't quite sure where to put this so I'll just mention it here. The grip has a rough, somewhat jagged surface. It seems like it will give you a great grip in long play sessions when your hands may get a bit sweaty, but it also seems like it may hurt some people's hands. I was indifferent about it.

Con:

1) HUGE dead zone in the analog sticks

Honestly, this con killed it for me. For those who may not understand what a dead zone is: It is basically the area on the analog stick where the controller won't respond. For example, if you ever so slightly nudged the analog stick on your PS3 controller, you'd notice nothing would happen. However, if you pushed it about half way to the edge, you'd noticed that the controller finally responds. That area where it doesn't respond is considered the "dead zone".

On this controller, the dead zone seems way too large. While this may not matter for all games, it can be horrible for games that require you to be a bit more precise. For example, while playing Call of Duty, it was very difficult for me to get those slight adjustments in my aim.

Overall, the controller is decent. Not terrible, but not that great either. If they ever fix the dead zone in the future, than this controller would easily be worth a 4/5 or 5/5.

Okay, I will say this. Out of every video game controller I have ever used, and I have pretty much used them all, the Xbox 360's controller is my favorite. It has the perfect weight, the triggers are placed in the perfect position, the thumbsticks have the concave(inward) groove to have your thumb rest in, and the most important feature for me, and many others: the reversed analog sticks. Now as much as I love my PS2 and PS3, I couldn't do extensive gaming sessions because I have larger hands and having the thumbsticks mounted at the bottom of the controller started to take wear on my hands quickly each time I picked up the controller. However, seeing how my 360 died not too long ago, I was/am left only with my PS3, and the controller I fear. What was I to do? Well Power A came to the rescue, and not only did they restore the happiness of my hands with a PS3 controller, Power A also proved that third party companies can make great products with the right resources and commitment.

First of all, you get all the features of the Sony brand in here. Six-Axis, dual rumble, and a built-in rechargeable battery; for $39.96 whereas the Sony brand is still $54.99. Now as for the performance, this is where I was on the fence about picking up this controller. I heard that the response time of the analog sticks were horrible and that the buttons would stick. Well after playing nearly 15 hours of Fallout New Vegas, I have had only one little kink, and that is if you have something blocking the dongle that is plugged into your usb slot, the controller will sync up around the obstruction. Example, I was my bed and I had my controller propped up my knees. My hands fell into my lap, and the controller's led ring blinked for about 3 seconds and presto, no problems after that. My knees were between my usb dongle and my controller, and it still worked great.

Now as for the unresponsiveness of the analog sticks. Honestly I haven't had any lag or dead-zones. On top of that, I'm using the Grip-Its on top of the sticks, and they still are flawless. Again, been playing New Vegas for about 15 hours, and no problems aiming in any direction...its just as smooth and responsive at the Sony analog sticks. Button sticking was a problem I haven't come across yet, either. As for the texturing on the sides of the controller, I don't get why its causing tons of concern. The only way I see the grips becoming a problem is if you are gripping your controller like a vice.

Overall, I'm 110% satisfied with this controller, and can easily recommend it to anyone who has a PS3, but wants a 360-like design for it...and without sacrificing any of the features of the original Dualshock 3. And one more thing, the battery life for the Power A is just as long as the Dualshock 3, and fortunately charges faster too. I'm actually considering getting a few as gifts for friends. Nice job Power A, you have a happy customer!

Best Deals for Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3

SO I picked up one of these at Toys 'r US yesterday and thus far I must say i'm impressed. The reason I picked up this controller in the 1st place is because I primarily play a lot of shooters on my Xbox 360 and the transition to the PS3 controller was always a bit of a PITA (pain in the a$$) due to the placement of the analog sticks and the shoulder buttons as well as the fact that for someone with larger hands, using the analog sticks became painful after extended play.

Design-wise it's a handsome gadget, flat black with buttons that light up (a nice touch, especially for a $35 controller), a bit on the light side, but that's not a deal-breaker. For the most part it feels solid and well-built and has a textured grip that feels great in my hands. It comes with a USB dongle that has to be plugged into one of the USB ports on your PS3 and to charge it has a mini-USB cable that attaches from the controller to the dongle. It would've been nice if it was bluetooth out the box, but hey, it's a $35 controller and still managed to include sixaxis control and rumble. It took about 40 mins to charge fully once I got it out the box. Setup took a min or two for syncing.

This controller to a large degree mimics the layout of the 360 pad, especially in the placement of the analog sticks-spaced further apart so my thumbs don't start hurting after extended play. Just as importantly, the shoulder buttons (primarily the R2 and L2)have been lengthened slightly to give them more of a "trigger" feel that for me improves play when using for shooters. The only thing I don't particularly like about the analog sticks is they have a bit too much give and could've been a bit stiffer. The D-pad seems ok, I don't play a lot of fighting games, so it's not something I can give much input on.

Overall,I think for those of us who have issues with the standard PS3 controller this is a great buy. I'm thinking of going back through some games collecting dust as it really does give a whole new life to playing on my PS3 again.

Honest reviews on Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3

First let me say that I own both the Xbox 360 and PS3. As far as the controllers are concerned, I much prefer the size and feel of the 360 controllers. With the PS3 controller the base of my left thumb will hurt considerably after a few minutes. As far as my review of this controller is concerned, I highly recommend if you prefer the 360 controllers over the PS3.

Pros:

I found the sticks responsiveness as good the PS3 controllers no issues there

The size and layout is exactly the same as the 360 controller (obviously having the same layout is great from a gaming consistency perspective when switching back and forth between the PS3 and 360)

The buttons are back lit with red light. Great for night time gaming given the light is subtle and therefore not distracting. Also, you can turn it off if you don't like it.

Some reviewers have complained about the textured grips I happen to like it given the controller is lighter than the 360's so it "sticks".

Cons:

The biggest issue is that you can NOT turn the PS3 console on via the remote (you CAN turn it off, however)

This controller uses a USB dongle for the wireless connection, blue tooth would provide a more reliable connection. As a result, you need a clear line of site to the console and is susceptible to "pillow/blanket" block.

As mentioned, the controller is lighter than the 360 due to the 360's detachable battery. I prefer the extra weight of the 360. It does have that "cheap" feel to it relative to the 360

Lastly, it's made in China.

I can't speak to the charge duration as I've had it for just a week, after a few weeks I'll update my review on that aspect.

Overall, this is a very good 360 controller for the PS3 and its allowed me to play PS3 games pain free. As a result, I'm buying two more for back ups.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3

I'm a controller junkie and try out new ones whenever they come along. I have a 360 and a PS3, so I'm no stranger to either's analog layout, although I've never understood the hate for Sony's Dualshock. At any rate, everyone seems to swear by the staggered/offset analog setup of Microsoft's unit, so I decided to see if it made a difference on the PS3.

To me, a controller should feel as close to nothing in your hands as possible and it's interface should be smooth, refined and intuitive. You play to play, not think about what's in your hands, so I'm very result oriented when I pick up any third-party unit and as far as they go, I rank them (in refinement, build quality & feel):

-Logitech

-Nyko & Thrustmaster

-Datel

-Pelican

-Gamestop (I'm sure they use various brands and slap their name on them)

-MadCatz (garbage)

This one ranks in the same category as Pelican, which is to say it's not quite as cheap and plasticky as MadCatz, but it lacks the solid feel of Nyko or Thrustmaster products. It's face buttons rattle a bit, but never get stuck or bind (and they have a springy "twang" when released). The D-pad feels clunky, but it works better than the stock XBox controller... which isn't saying much. The analog sticks are about a third higher than first party units and the springs are stiffer, so they return to center quite forcefully. They take a bit of getting used to. The general shape of the controller it's best feature, IMO is a copy of the Logitech Precision Wireless, except it feels larger all around. The "diamond waffle" textured grip surface was a bit distracting to me, but not a deal breaker. I'm guessing it'll be a love it or hate it feature.

All in all, it's not a bad controller for the price, except for one thing: Dead zones.

As a decent/good about 1.80 average FPS player, even I can't put up with them when they cost kills in online play... Which they did for me time and time again.

If you need a cheap(er) alternative to the Dualshock, have whiny XBox-loving buddies over all the time or simply can't live without the staggered joystick setup when playing your RPG's, then feel free to pick one up.

...Or just wait for the Nyko Raven.

Everyone else stick to the Dualshock or buy one of those expensive XCM 360 controller adapters.

Not a Bad Buy at allllll. much cheaper then the sony one. its great for most games but let me warn you that Shooter games will be more difficult to handle due to the analog sticks. hard to explain to be honest. they dont always let you Aim your gun Accurately and can realy screw you over. as for a racing games or other such games its a great product. it looks veryy identical to a Brand Sony Controller with minor different Details. i hade no issues with any of the bottons, though you will notice there not as easy to push in as sony brand. the bottoms will take a bit more of force. also yes the Wireles DOESS work on this controller. it was already fully charged when i got it but i hade to sync it with my USB Cable Wire. it does NOT include its own wire so you must already have one. not sure how long it will last without the wire connected but i did play wireles for 2 full hours, im sure itl last even longer. good buy, but not the best for shooters.

Got a set of 2 of these controllers as a gift and I immediately had problems with the recievers. The controller would work great for about 2 minutes then the signal would be lost. I tried to get help through Pelican's on-line customer service and although they agreed that I had a faulty reciever (actually ended up being two faulty recievers) and offered to send me a new one I never recieved one. I've tried several times to resubmit my complaint but I've never recieved another response from them. I would not recommend this product nor any other Pelican product. There must be something better out there.

Works great, no noticable delay, love the low battery warning light.

Having a 1 1/2 year old, I got tired of trying to play Xbox with my friend in the living room and having controller wires stretched out all over the room. She'd constantly get tangled up in the wires, or grab a controller to try to play with dad then turn a couple circles getting the wires wrapped around her. Now I don't have to worry. There are absolutely no wires comming out of the controller. The only wire at all is about 6" connecting the receiver to the xbox.

After reading the good review of this here and gamespot I decided to get a pair of these controllers. I liked the fact that they had the low battery warning light. That way you know before you start a game if the batteries need changing. I don't have a big living room, so I've not come close to testing out the 50 foot range. But I haven't experienced any problems while playing Halo 2.

I hooked up both controllers out of the box and read the instructions. I forgot which controller went to which receiver but it didn't matter. Pushed the change channel button on each receiver and then hit any 1 button on each controller after waiting 3 seconds after pushing the change channel button just like the manual said. That was all it took, perfect communication since, even after many times of turning the power on the controller on and off.

It was just hard to find any of these for sale on the internet. Had to go to an auction site.

Now I wish I hadn't already spent the money to buy the wired controllers I already had. For around $30 these wireless models aren't much more than the wired controllers. Well worth the little bit extra.

Best Deals for PELICAN ACCESSORIES Eclipse 2 Wireless Controller For Xbox

There are other wireless controllers out there that are better, but they all cost more than $50. For $30 you cant get anything better. Everyone that has a gamecube has the wavebird, the best wireless controller out there, and for the Xbox this is the closet to the wavebird. It's light and close to the size of the regular controllers from the xbox. Unlike most wireless controllers you have the rumble feature with this controller. Turning the rumble on will drain your batteries a lot faster but it only takes 2 AA so it's not too bad. With all the wireless controllers you always have to make sure you don't keep it on all day, well with this one it will turn off by itself if you don't use it for 15 min. it also has a cool button layout, all of the button layouts are the same as the regular controllers but this one has the white and black buttons also on the top of the controller similar to the L1 and R1 buttons on the playstation controllers. Overall this is the best controller you can get for $30, I would buy this controller over the regular xbox controllers. The only bad this is that you cant play xbox live with this controller, so if you are looking to play online and this is the only controller you have don't buy this, but if you are just looking for an extra controller this is better than the regular ones.

Honest reviews on PELICAN ACCESSORIES Eclipse 2 Wireless Controller For Xbox

I bought 4 of these controllers thinking they would be as reliable as the original pelican controllers. 1 Worked right out of the box, 1 had to be manually set, and the other 2 didn't work at all in automatic or manual mode. I recommend sticking with the original Pelican 1 controllers or going with a different brand. Otherwise you have a 50% chance of getting a bad controller.

I tried a standard wireless Logitech KB with the PS3 and while it worked, the range was only about 10 feet. As my couch is about 20 feet from the PS3, I had to string the KB receiver into the middle of the room. No such problem with the Mediaboard. I walked into a back bedroom over 50 ft away and it was able to transmit that distance through a number of walls. It is glossy black with a chrome strip on the top to complement the PS3. The X and O buttons are mapped to the Enter and Esc keys respectively; which works well since the X is usually "OK" and O is typically "Back". The touchpad beats using the D-pad to move around the PlayStation Store. I have not used the media buttons on the top since I have the Sony remote. Once you pair up the Mediaboard to the PS3 (which is an easy process) you don't have to do it again. I was concerned that I would have to pair it up each time I turned on the Mediaboard or PS3.

I only have three small issues with the Mediaboard. One, the power switch is a slider built into the chrome strip. There is a little nub in the center that I assume was to provide some grip. It doesn't help since the surface of the button is slick. I just use my fingernail to move the switch back and forth. Second: no Start button. You need to press Start to begin downloads from the Playstation Store. Not a big issue as you can use the arrow keys to move to the Start image on the screen and hit the Enter (X) key. Third: no PS button. A strange omission. It might have to do with the fact that the Mediaboard does not show up as a controller on the PS3.

I highly recommend the Mediaboard for anyone looking for a keyboard for their PS3.

Just received this keyboard last night. Was worried from the reviews that construction might be flimsy. Not the case. I had the Logitech DiNovo desktop (keyboard, number pad, and mouse) previously. The number pad went missing pretty quickly and the keyboard was not the toughest of keyboards. The left CTRL key stopped working after about a year. I was using it for my living room computer (music, net surfing, etc), so use was not tremendous. Another year later, the keyboard croaked and mouse went missing, so it was time for a new bluetooth combo. Not much out there at the time of this writing Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard (expensive) and the Microsoft combo set, but it requires WinXP SP2, which I wasn't keen on. I considered the Bestbuy Razorfish, but that looked pretty cheap. I found this one for PS3, but was worried about compatability with a regular computer (I don't have PS3). I got the box, opened it up, used another keyboard and mouse to set up, and DONE! Up and running in under 3 minutes. The keyboard weight is perfect. Not too light and not terribly heavy. Doesn't feel cheap. Looks great with piano black and chrome finish when its sitting unused. If you've used a laptop touchpad, you can use this thing. A couple tweaks on the mouse movement settings and all set! There is no WIN key, but use Ctrl-Esc instead. The key stroke depth is great. Longer stroke than the Dinovo Desktop also quieter. The touchpad also has scrolling BIG PLUS. The keyboard even has two keys on the bottom left which emulate the left and right mouse buttons, making dragging a bit easier than using just the right hand. Finally, there's a power switch, which helps with battery life. Two AA's and this thing goes! For the money, this is the best bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo around. Keep in mind, this is used on an entertainment computer, not a gamer. Gamers obviously need a better mouse, but the keyboard is still great. Overall, for a living room / entertaining computer, this keyboard rates an A+.

Keyboard works ok, but it is REALLY, REALLY lame that Logitech didn't include the L1,L2,R1,R2,etc keys...which are critical for proper zooming of the Internet Browser. This means that you have to have the controller or remote control nearby as well for basic navigation. How much harder could it have been to include these keys? Oh well...

Honest reviews on Logitech PlayStation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Pro

I bought this keyboard with the intention of using it for both a Mac mini and future PS3 so I can only comment on it's use as a general BT keyboard. I am using the mini as a media center PC so having a BT keyboard with mousepad was essential. The keyboard itself is of normal size and is slight wider than a standard A/V component (e.g. stereo receiver). Like others have said, the quality is good but not great. My keyboard has a slight bow to it where it does not sit flush on a flat surface. Maybe that was by design, who knows. Other than the keyboard, the package includes a manual and batteries, no setup CD but no big deal. I was able to pair it up with the mini for the first time in less than a half minute. The response is great, never any lag. The only thing that makes this keyboard NOT ideal for a mac is the lack of extra function keys other than CTRL and ALT. There are no FN or COMMAND keys. Instead there is a leftand right-click "keys". I guess it makes more sense for a PS3. I was able to reassign the CTRL key to COMMAND and that's good enough for me. I could've assigned the caps lock key if I really needed CTRL. When restarting the mini, there are no pairing issues. It will pair within a couple of seconds of turning the keyboard on. All in all, I am happy with this keyboard and hope to have a similar impression once I get a PS3.

UPDATE:

There was a point where the keyboard could not be found by my Mac mini. I thought it was the Mac at first. Then I changed the batteries and now it works fine. So if you're having trouble pairing this keyboard, check the batteries.

First off the keyboard I received had a problem with some sticking keys, and the left mouse button when click randomly. I returned and decided not to get another simply because Logitech neglected to put L1 L2 L3 R1 R2 R3 buttons on the keyboard making the keyboard a real pain in the neck to use. Since the PS3 browser requires the L and R keys to navigate properly through the Internet, this requires you to stop your typing or using the mouse pad to pick up a separate controller that you have to have by you to surf properly, big pain!!!! I was really disappointed I was really looking forward to the ease of typing but it's just not worth it. Maybe a future keyboard will have more thought put into it.

Brake your self...or at least others.

The game is in the vein of the show so if you like the destruction and absurdity of the show you'll enjoy the game. This is a button masher game, but it does have a little skill requirement as it uses just about every part of the wii remote. Worth it for anyone who wants a party beat 'm up game. A little boring in single mode. It's a battle game threw-n-threw.

It's the hit show on Cartoon Network like you've never seen or played before !

The "Billy and Mandy" video game may look like your garden variety multiplayer combat game with weapons and destructible environments, but this has some of your favorite characters from the show such as the hapless Irwin, the chaotic Eris, the sinister Nergal and Nergal Jr., the prank-pulling Jack O. Lantern, the annoying Fred Fredburger, and much more. Each character has a special power move and alternate costumes that you can unlock. There are various modes of play including a "Mission Mode" that unlocks characters and other neat extras like a sneak peek at a brand new "Grim Adventures" special coming soon ! Plus the Wii exclusively has a SIXTH tier of missions that unlock even more cool stuff !

So if you like "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" on Cartoon Network, and if you like no-holds-barred fighting games, then this is definitely the game for you. You know you want it !

I'll preface this by cribbing lightly from early professional reviews. Yes, the game borrows concepts from GoW. Yes, there are aspects reminiscent of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Toss in Devil May Cry and Portal while you're at it too.

Does the game suffer from this? Absolutely not.

I believe Darksiders will prove out to stand on its own merits:

Art/color/effects. The Darksiders world is painted vividly. Bloody, scarlet reds. Vivid, electric blues. Hellfire crackles and belches with palpable heat. Death effects are varying and plentiful. The Chaoseater rips through opponents with satisfying degrees of violence and gore. Joe Mad's character designs are top-notch, fresh, and lend strongly to the 'playing a comic book' feel. You'll like it or you won't but I love it. The angel and demon designs, the shattered, demonically-warped landscape, the weaponry, War's armor it's just awesome.

Voice acting. Mark Hamill is worth the price of admission. The other voice talents do an able job, but his role really stands out, and he does an impeccable job.

Combat. Button-mashers will find a lot to like. Newcomers will quickly feel at home with the combat setup. Experts won't feel like they're jogging around a dumbed-down rail-fighter. Combos are expressive and fun to achieve, and their resulting effects are satisfyingly brutal.

Story. I won't detail the twists and turns the story takes, but the fact that you're War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, sent back to Earth to figure out who screwed you over, and why, and kill everything standing in the way of that it doesn't need to be any more cerebral. Revenge and justice are always a solid theme to an action slasher, and the story here doesn't fail.

The soul-currency system is a nice touch. There are many, many items in the destructive environment that will kick out souls that can be traded in as currency for new combat moves, weapon enhancements, health/rage buffs, etc. Some of these items raise an eyebrow (souls confined in a parking meter? ok.), but the gathering process is still fun.

Early boss fights are decent, but these battles really shine with selected increased difficulty.

The puzzles aren't terribly difficult. You're not going to employ any Half-Life 2-type problem-solving to figure them out, but they factor into the overall gameplay logically and seamlessly.

Some players might get hung up in the comparisons to other games in the genre. Others might see similarities or common themes as strengths building on what gamers like, discarding other elements. My advice enjoy Darksiders based on what you see, what you hear, and what you beat the holy (and unholy) crap out of in-game. Anticipate at least 17-20 solid hours of gameplay, with plenty to discover on subsequent playthroughs.

Start to finish, this game was a 9/10, and earned a spot on the shelf next to Halo 1-3, Fallout 3, CoD4, and Bioshock.

Very seldom do I actually write a review, but after seeing the horrible and unjust review that X-Play on G4TV gave, I had to speak up. So I will take this opportunity to lay it out.

X-Play: "I want to see more gore for something rated Mature."

Reality Check: When I ripped the wings off angels and then decapitated demons; that is what I expected in a game rated M.

X-Play: "Weapon Options are Limited."

Reality Check: Sword + Gun + Scythe + Cross blade + Gauntlet + Add Ons + Turrets = Almost more than I can keep up with when I'm playing.

X-Play: "Finishing off enemies is repetitive."

Reality Check: While yes, it can be repetitive at times, but as you level up and become very powerful or use the "turrets" or the horse in the game; you find yourself doing the finish moves less often, especially on the weaker enemies.

X-Play: They knocked the swimming for some odd reason.

Reality Check: The swimming is fine and fluid and adds a lot of depth to the dungeons. No pun intended.

X-Play: "Puzzles were predictable and easy."

Reality Check: Not all are "easy" nor are they predictable at all. You will have to think, especially when it comes to finding some of the chests.

X-Play: "Lacks Originality or a Soul."

Reality Check: I do not know what this game is compared to aside from mechanics "borrowed" from some of the all time bests, but in my opinion it gave the game an old soul that everyone can enjoy. Take something that works and use it. Sometimes people just want a game that is fun, easy to learn, and challenging at the same time.

X-Play: "Hack and slash that is cliché."

Reality Check: NOT AT ALL! I do not think when I stun an enemy with my cross blade, shoot it in the face, then lunge forward with a stabbing blow, and then reel any other nearby enemies with a flame saw sword move, and then finish it off with a gauntlet ground pound, and then raise my horse on the fly and slash away from a higher position while galloping around. Hmmm...How is that cliché??? Let's not forget you can turn into a 25 flaming monster and there are also special "magic" powers that can be used as well.

I could go on and on. Bottom line is that this is a fun game that has given me plenty of surprises.

Best Deals for Darksiders - Xbox 360

Thank you Vigil. Finally, a game developer who 'gets it.' It's obvious that Darksiders was a labor of love, created by gamers, for gamers. I've played a lot of games over the years, and Darksiders masterfully crafts together the best elements of the genre while stripping out the garbage we could all do without. Why is Darksiders possibly the best pick-up-&-play action/adventure game ever?

+ Easy-to-learn, forgiving controls.

+ Variety of gameplay elements (swordplay, throwing objects, climbing, swinging, swimming, shooting, riding, treasure hunting, weapon upgrades, puzzle solving, etc.).

+ Beautiful artistic style, animation, and environments if you've enjoyed Joe Madureira's art in other mediums, playing Darksiders is an awesome interactive experience that brings his artistic vision to life in high definition.

+ Frequently saved checkpoints, plus save-anytime feature, and multiple save blocks that can be copied between memory cards and hard drives.

+ Epic fantasy storyline.

+ Effective defensive moves (block and dash/dodge).

+ Easily-controllable camera/perspective.

+ Engaging puzzles that don't take forever to figure out and complete.

+ Fast-travel network to quickly move between distant previously-visited areas.

+ No 'artificial challenge' that handicaps and punishes players.

+ No flow-breaking, action-obscuring quick-time events.

+ No unskippable cut-scenes.

+ Amazing audio that artfully conveys the epic scale of the characters and battles.

+ On-screen mini-map (and full map on the paused game's options screen) keeps you from getting lost and wondering where to go next.

+ Saved slots are indicated with the location and play-time you saved at, along with your difficulty level and health, making it easy to remember which file to load among multiple saves.

Whoever crafted the controls and usability/accessibility features of this game deserves the gaming industry's most prestigious award and recognition. For all the different gameplay elements, the controls always feel fluid and familiar. Most of us play a variety of games, so familiarizing ourselves with a new game's control scheme (or re-familiarizing ourselves with an old favorite later) can be rough. Darksiders takes this pain away by keeping the controls simple and always displaying the appropriate controller button on-screen next to each actionable icon. Many gamers buy or rent used games that don't come with instruction manuals, and thankfully Darksiders can be quickly and easily grasped without ever laying eyes on a manual. Awesome, powerful attack combos can be pulled off with merely a couple button-presses. The on-screen tips (which are saved in a log accessible via the paused game's options screen) walk you through every step of the way. Any action that consumes resources (like a magical attack that use up your wrath meter) requires two buttons to be pressed simultaneously, so you never accidentally slip and hit the wrong button and waste your resources.

If you've played other popular contemporary action/adventure games, you'll likely find familiar gameplay elements here. Darksiders pays homage to the most fun aspects in popular gaming while leaving OUT the frustrations that are too common in most other games. Most thankfully, Darksiders AVOIDS the maddening handicaps that too many other games rely on to inject what I call 'artificial challenge:'

Few and far-between save points (sometimes real life happens the phone rings, a visitor knocks at the door, dinner's ready, etc. and you don't have an hour to play until the next save point).

Only allowing one save file (preventing you from having multiple games in-progress, or reverting to an earlier save point).

Pathetic defense (no ability to block incoming attacks, limited ability to dodge incoming attacks, limited opportunity to take cover, etc.).

Leaving you helplessly stunned/paralyzed and vulnerable for a brief period after sustaining damage, allowing enemies to endlessly juggle you to death.

Convoluted control schemes and complex combo moves that are too long or tricky to reliably execute in the heat of battle.

Scarce resources (never any health or ammo around when you need it).

Obstructive camera perspectives that obscure your view of the action.

Requiring you to swim through areas while only giving you very limited breath.

Defeated enemies release floating orbs for you to collect, but you must be in very close proximity to receive them (I'm here to kick butt, not chase butterflies).

Performing an attack move (or being attacked) too close to a ledge causes you to fall off that ledge.

Falling off a ledge is an instant game-over, restarting you at a prior point.

+++ Darksiders does NOT punish the player with ANY of these buzz-kills. If you ever felt like throwing your game controller through your television out of frustration from cheap shots like this that other games shamelessly and repeatedly hit you with, then Darksiders will soothe those old wounds and renew your joy of gaming. Darksiders is by no means lacking in challenge, but it lets you focus on battling bad guys WITHOUT battling short-sighted, penalizing game mechanics. Darksiders doesn't keep finding cheap ways to end the fun and hinder your progress like many other games do. EVERY game developer should take serious notes on how smoothly and accessibly Darksiders flows for the player.

I have a hard time coming up with even minor things I would change about Darksiders:

I've become spoiled the last few years on the auto-regenerating health systems that many popular games have, so I wish Darksiders didn't require the player to find health-replenishing items (although it partially compensates for this by providing plenty of health pick-ups and a weapon modifier that gives you a little health boost every time you inflict damage on enemies).

I wish the enemies and bosses displayed a health meter so I could see how much damage my attacks are inflicting (to find the most effective attacks) and know how close (or far) I am to defeating an enemy.

The screen that lists your available attacks for each weapon does not indicate what level each attack has been upgraded to (the only way to know is to check what the next level available for purchase is at a shop).

The shop/purchase screen does not give you a last-minute confirming ('Are you sure you wish to buy this item?') back-out option when you buy something, so don't hit that 'buy' button accidentally.

The shop/purchase screen does not show you how many of a particular item you may already be carrying in your inventory.

While the 360-degree moveable camera perspective is great, I wish the speed/sensitivity of the camera movement was adjustable (sometimes I want to whip the camera around faster to get a view of something, but again, Darksiders partially compensates for this with the 'lock-on/focus' trigger that instantly resets the camera to the direction you're character is facing).

There's a combo meter that counts your consecutive hits during fights, but I haven't seen any reward system that ties to racking up long combos (so why count them?).

The only technical glitch I've noticed so far is some graphical screen-tearing.

Do yourself a favor and play Darksiders, and wrap yourself in a cozy blanket of fun, frustration-free action/adventure gaming. Do the gaming world a favor and buy this game to promote this kind of development so that future games will follow the fine example Darksiders sets. Vigil, please make sequels (and/or other games) that keep the same gamer-friendly spirit of Darksiders. Darksiders is not just a game it's a gift to gamers.

Honest reviews on Darksiders - Xbox 360

Why this game is Awesome.

I love this game. The graphics are great, the story is straightforward yet compelling, the combat is amazing, and the puzzles are challenging. Darksiders is a terrific game and a blast to play. All of the negative comments seem to be based on the fact that it is like "Prince of Persia, with elements of Zelda and God of War mixed in" or something to that effect. Well, I have never played any of those games, so to me it is just a great game. Imagine if someone told you a new movie was out that had the story and character motivation of The Lord of the Rings, the space battles of Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn, and the hyperkinetic light saber fights of Revenge of the Sith. Now imagine you had never seen any of those. You would probably think it was an awesome film. That is Darksiders. Don't listen to the negatives. This is a great game, and more to the point, really fun and enjoyable to play, which is what a game should be.

I almost didn't get this game due to some of the bad reviews, but I figured I would give it a shot. I personally LIKE when a game has familiar controls or a style because it is easier for me to slide into playing rather than learning the controls (Too Human took forever to get used to!). This game reminded me a lot of God of War, which being one of my favorite games, was not a bad thing at all. Over all, I really enjoyed the entire game play experience and even the storyline. Usually I just fast button through the cut scenes but this time I wanted to know what was going on. I liked that there was a load of things to find but that they weren't all totally necessary for the end game. Sure there are the achievements, but spending hours checking and rechecking every location for the one item out of 30 you missed is boring. Some of the puzzles got a bit confusing, but nothing was so hard that I gave up (The first boss fight was a personal nightmare for me though).

Overall, this has quickly become one of my favorite games that I can easily see having a lot of replay even if it is just to ride around and kill bad guys.

If you have played Transformers games for the DS, other than War For Cybertron, than you will have noticed certain traits that create a pattern, that pattern is not a very flattering one. They have a tendency to have horrible graphics, a flimsy to non-existent plot, horrific voice acting, and bad gameplay, that usually consists of time trials near impossible to complete, running in circles shooting or hitting the enemy. The games are either so easy its boring or so hard its almost impossible. Usually the impossible comes from vehicle missions. That's other Transformers games. War for Cybertron is the exact opposite. The graphics are decent for a DS game. The gameplay is fun. The voice actors are very good. The plot is great. All I can say is get this game. You can almost never "win" the game. There are many many characters to unlock, play as, level up, play different missions, and try different pairs. There are many missions to get 100% on. And dozens of data disks to unlock. It took me a month to win this game, while switching it out of my DS for it counterpart. Its great. Get it. You will not be disappointed.

I recently purchased an HDTV and had been looking for an HDMI cable to use with my video game consoles to match the high definition display resolution that my television is capable of projecting in. In my town we don't have a lot of choices when it comes to electronic stores, but I happened to stumble across this cable the other day.

The cable is 9 feet long, allowing a great reach and extension for electronics that may be located a good distance away from the television. The cables are also universal, I tried these out on both my Xbox 360 and my PlayStation 3, and the cable works perfectly with both. The cables are extremely easy to use, simply plug in one side into the appropriate output slot on the console, and then plug in the other end into the television's receiver/input HD slot. This makes using HDMI even easier than component or composite cables since HDMI carries over a digital signal over one cable, versus multiple inputs for both audio and video that older cables such as composite use.

After inserting the cables, simply change the display resolution of the console in the settings toolbar to the desired resolution that corresponds with your television's capabilities, and that's it. Upon calibrating my console to display in 1080p resolution, I immediately noticed a difference in the graphics of already stunning games, such as Gears of War 2, and NBA2K10. Overall, this is a great product that does what it's supposed to, what more can you ask for from an HDMI cable?

I was a big fan of the adventure games so popular on PCs in the 90's but somehow completely missed the Broken Sword franchise. When I learned of this game I was excited to return to this all but extinct game style but unsure of how it would work on the Wii. My concern was unfounded. This is a wonderful, highly entertaining game; perfectly suited to the Wii's unique controller.

For anyone not familiar with the genera it's definitely not standard console game fair. Game play is based on methodical exploration, puzzle solving and a fair deal of reading/listening to non-player characters for hints and clues. The best way to explain it is to say it's exactly like a good mystery novel that gives you control over the protagonist.

The graphics are wonderful; beautifully rendered, slightly fanciful, visions of Paris, highly reminiscent of Don Bluth's style of animation. In this day and age of hyper-realism it's very refreshing to play a game that takes it's own direction graphically. The Wii's sometimes mocked hardware limitations seems to be encouraging this kind of innovation and I, for one, appreciate it greately.

The Wii is considered a bastion for casual gamers, and this title proves the concept. You don't need lightning quick reflexes, or years of twitch-response training to hop in and play. Surprisingly, this makes a great family/party game. At a gathering of friends, four of us in our late 20's-early 30's -and only one Wii remote we had a great time working collaboratively to solve the puzzles and explore the various locals. Rather than take advantage of the built in multi-player option, we found one Wii remote got passed around quite a bit.

If I could say anything negative about this game it is the one constant strike against any game of this type. While I haven't played it though to the end yet, I imagine, given the highly linear story-driven narrative, there will be almost no replay value. Or, rather, it will have the same replay value as any good mystery novel has re-read value.

Despite that, I think it's well worth the purchase price, if only to send a clear message that more games of this quality greatly desired.

I was surprised how much fun I had playing this I kept losing track of time. This is all puzzles, no fighting just thinking. Some of the puzzles are sort of order of operations asking the right people the right questions in the right order. There were some word puzzles, some picture puzzles, some number and one chess! One of the best benefits of the game was that my husband and I could solve the puzzles together.

The Wii controller was a bit klutzy (for me) with some of the lining-things-up puzzles and it was really tough on rotating things but the game lets you try again until your hands and eyes are coordinated. I also liked that you could save at almost any point in the story in case someone else wants to use the Wii for a while.

The ending was a bit of a let down. The quality of the images degraded and the scripting felt rushed. Still, I am glad I played it and we definitely got our money's worth of fun.

Best Deals for Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - Nintendo Wii

I've just finished playing Broken Sword and loved the game. I never played it on a PC so this Wii version was my first introduction to the game (which I guess is a classic). I enjoy games with little or no fighting and lots of exploring and puzzles so this was perfect for my tastes. The story was interesting and kept me looking forward to seeing what came next.

The hint system was good and I used it in the beginning a bit and then when I got really stuck (in hindsight, I wish I had used it less in the beginning of the game). One of the cons of the game for me was that sometimes you had to do something non-intuitive to figure out a puzzle (like talk to a specific person a 6th time after looking at a specific object, etc.) But once I got the hang of that and with the help of an occasional hint, it was fine. The Wii controls are great for exploring although on some of the puzzles that involved precisely moving things they took some getting used to.

I only recently purchased a Wii and this was one of my first games. I enjoyed it so much that it has sent me on a quest to find similar titles that include this type game-play. Which leads me to my other con...I felt the game went by too quickly. I spent a lot of time looking around and felt I was taking my time with it but it was over before I knew it and there is little replay value as the puzzles are all figured out. I would have liked a longer game for the money. As the title of my review states, I am anxious for a sequel and hope that it includes more areas to explore and maybe some non-linear story lines to increase the replay value.

In sum, I gave it 5 stars as I couldn't wait to play it every time I had some free time, enjoyed the story and puzzles, and was sad when I finished it. If you like a lot of action, this game isn't for you. But if you like point-and-click type adventures and puzzles, I think you will really enjoy Broken Sword.

Honest reviews on Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - Nintendo Wii

I was looking for some inexpensive Wii games and found this one on Amazon. I had never heard of the original game, but after reading the description and the reviews, I was excited to find a new (to me) game of the same style and era as Monkey Island and Loom (two of my all-time favorite games).

Story: 4/5. It is a modern-day murder conspiracy that involves the Knights Templar and the Assassins. It requires finding clues and deciphering puzzles that are several centuries old. I guess that description along with the title make it sound like "The Da Vinci Code meets Assassin's Creed," but no. Thank goodness it is very different.

Characters: 3/5. One thing that I think is essential to a good video game is that the protagonist(s) is/are likable. My main gripe about the characters is that around 3 hours into the game, one of the main characters, George Stobbart, was really getting on my nerves. VG characters can be cheesy and still be likable, but the voice acting was over-done and I think the game would have been more enjoyable without it.

Graphics: 3/5. The graphics were...interesting. Knowing that the game is mostly a port from the original version, I wasn't buying the game for the graphics. What made them a little weird was that you could tell that certain things were touched up or added to this version and other things were not. I don't think the graphics make or break the game, but the inconsistency was a little distracting.

Gameplay: 2/5. I like this style of game. It's nice every now and then to play a game that is more about problem solving and telling a story than boss battles and repetitious action. Unlike most games like this that I have played, it has a hint system, so if you are stuck, you can get some help. There are usually 3 or 4 hints per puzzle/objective, increasing from subtle to blatantly explaining what you have to do. Along with time spent playing, it keeps track of the number of hints that you have read. While cursor precision may not have been a problem when using a mouse for the original version, keeping aim and combing the screen for targets with a Wiimote is a little more difficult. What was aggravating was that I had the right idea on several occasions but after they didn't work, I reluctantly looked at a hint that only reaffirmed that I was correct. If I knew these things up front, I probably wouldn't be complaining about them:

In many cases, you have to use an item that you possess on another object on the screen. For me, this often took more than one try. Sometimes, the area that you act on is so small that pressing the button on the controller may move the cursor enough to miss your target. That means bringing up your item screen again, picking the item, and trying to click on your target again. I actually had to move closer to the screen than normal to avoid that from happening.

One item may have multiple target areas that are indistinguishable from one another. The screen may have something like a statue. You can hover your cursor over the entire statue and it looks like one continuous target. However, inspecting/acting on one part of the statue may have different results than another part.

The object may be a target but the target area is only a small portion of the object. For example, if there is a pile of coal, the target for that pile of coal may only cover 25% of it.

There are a few puzzles in the game that are analogous to cracking combination locks and require you to press and hold a button on the controller as you twist it clockwise or counterclockwise. The game will hint to you when to stop turning by making a certain sound and making the controller vibrate. So the idea is to turn slowly. Well, the control has the "ice dispenser" effect. You twist it slightly and it either doesn't move or it starts to move and stops. You twist it a little bit further and the object on the screen spins way too much. If you turn too far, that means starting all over again.

Value: 4/5. This game took me about 10 hours to finish. For what I paid (under $10), I consider it a good value.

The day I got this game I played it for 10hrs straight! I am a big fan of the old PC RP point and click games from the 90's...which I grew up on and this game happily brought back those memories!

This game's story is addictive and the puzzles interesting and fun. If you are looking for kill 'em action this is not the game for you...it is strictly a game of logic and deductive reasoning! You can't even get killed if you tried! ;0) You can only get stuck and even if you do they have helpful hints to get you unstuck if you chose to use them.

Hurray for UBIsoft for putting out this game and I hope there is a sequel...and many other games to come in this genre of Point & Click/Logic Role Playing!

I can't remember when I enjoyed playing a game so much....and my only regret is that I finished it so quickly because it was so addicitive!!

Keep em coming UBIsoft! I can't wait to see what you do next!

If you have always had an inner "detective" hidden in you...you will be hooked on this game!
