I received the wrong order in the mail. Not only is it the wrong color, it doesn't even work properly. I've contacted the company multiple times to have the problem resolved and haven't received any kind of response yet. I've since gone to a different company in order to get the controller I ordered from GeniusMods in the first place. GeniusMods not only needs to work on verifying their shipments against the orders before they send them. They should also work on their Customer Service. At this point I will never use this company again and will recommend against them in the future.

Barely passable as a usable controller, it has had more problems than any other controller I have ever had, short of just not working.

Pros:

Custom look

Operable as the regular Xbox 360 Controller

Cons:

Light ring only works on occasion

Rapid fire only works 25% of the time (I had purchased another controller along side this one and it has worked fine)

Gloss resembles the Microsoft attempt at Chrome controllers with the same result, it becomes too warm and is uncomfortable to hold after a short period of time

Absolutely DESTROYS batteries (Luckily I have 2500mA rechargeable batteries, but I still have to charge them nearly every three days. Again, the other controller I purchased from GeniusMods does not do this)

Buttons are too resistant and noisy (This becomes increasing frustrating when you are in a high intensity moment and you have to make sure you are HITTING the buttons)

Bottom Line:

Even though it has its flaws, it has a nice custom look and will play similar to the regular Xbox 360 Controller, with exception to battery life. This is a good controller for a girl/woman who seldom plays and is not expecting performance.

I bought it for my daughter (4), and she loves it. However, the A B X Y buttons aren't labeled. It only came with the controller and the AA batter holder. Not bad really, but not quite what i was expecting.

Exactly as described.

Would like to get another, so people won't "shotgun" my cute pink and black controller. Peace out.

I'm sure the readers of this product may want more info, so I'll do my best to provide additional details (G155 comparison included):

Case

------

The case is made out of thick plastic just like G155, so its sturdy. The dimension almost identical at 20" x 14" x 6.5" excluding handle, which satisfies virtually all major airlines carry-on size requirement. The handle adds 2" and makes the height 16", but no one at airport will realistically factor that in. The screen side of the case is less round, perhaps to accommodate the larger screen. I think this design also strengthens the latch gripping better under stress. The shoulder strap with padding (has UNSC logo) is a greatly appreciated item when an extra hand is needed. The design permits the strap to be attached or removed within a few seconds.

Screen

--------

With the case having the same length and width of the 15.6" G155, it is remarkable that GAEMS fitted a 19" screen. Actually, the screen measures 18.5" diagonally but looks bigger than that! The lighting on buttons are all blue (G155 is red). The blue background lighting on two sides of the screen is a nice touch not fancy so doesn't compete with the game content. Like G155, my PS3 recognizes it as 1080p with 2 audio channels. The display is much brighter and seems faster in response time.

The best part of the display other than size? It's the vastly improved display angle. Horizontally, I can line up 4 kids in front row and all can see the screen well! Vertically, kids standing up in second row can see also! As for the player, I tried sitting on the floor, sitting on a soft mattress (sunk in deep), and sitting on a chair with Vanguard on higher desk. The display angle passed in all scenarios! This wasn't the case with G155. There is a little kickstand allow the screen side to adjust up by a few degrees, which is really thoughtful feature. Kudos to GAEMS for listening to users on these improvement!

Audio and Controls

--------------------

The speakers are located on the bottom left and right corners. The drivers are about size of a golf ball (1.25" I think). They are open and masked slightly by 5 horizontal bars more like the cosmetic mud guards installed on 4x4 SUVs! The sound quality is vastly improved. The Halo 4 main menu music is a STUNNING demo of its range and depth. It's pretty good at high and mid-range. The debris and electrical buzzing effects from Halo 4 are sharp and realistic. Bass can be adjusted in menu, and it's adequate. Voice is still deep and clear! It has pretty good power too. I put Vanguard on 70% volume in a room, then go to kitchen about 50 feet away with 3 walls in between and I can hear the music pretty well. I also didn't hear distortion at 85% volume! With such loudness, there is really no need for external speakers to truly enjoy gaming away from home!

The bottom center of the display panel has the same two headset output, an HDMI input with the 7" cable, and DC 12V input from the power supply.

Console Strapping

-------------------

The console rests on a pad. One side has inset shaped to fit XBox and PS3. The other side has a small 9" x 7" footprint, which fits neither consoles (Nintendo Wii?) The two straps are thinner than G155, perhaps to allow better ventilation on the XBox 360 Slim.

The 2 side storage bags can be freely picked up (no Velcro underneath). They are same size as G155. With XBox having an external power brick, one storage bag will be used up for the two power supplies (one for display). This leaves the other for two controllers. Quick thought: since both XBox and the screen display use DC 12V as input, I wonder there is an DC Y-adapter that can allow both device to share one large power supply...

Since PS3's transformer is built-in the machine, there will be extra room available in the storage bags.

Note on Portable powerpacks

---------------------------

I have two battery-based jump-starters with inverter kept in family cars. I used them to power G155, and will power the Vanguard as well when AC outlets are not available (e.g., picnic/camping). Vanguard consumes average of 90 watts (XBox 360S 4GB w extra 256GB HDD and Wi-Fi active) with medium volume and brightness during play. Here are actual run times with the two that I own:

Duracell DRPP600 Powerpack 600 Jump Starter and Emergency Power Source: 1hr 55min

Wagan Power Dome EX 400-Watt Jump Starter with Built-In Air Compressor: 1hr 3min

I'm sure with Wi-Fi turned off one can run longer times. Same if the HDD is not needed or replaced with SSD.

Summary

--------

When GAEMS released G155, I was excited finally a practical solution for console gaming away from home. I used it on travel and always in awe just having that ability to play console games somewhere else! Even as a happy user, there is always room for improvements. GAEMS was listening to the passionate G155 owners and all key improvements are in this Vanguard product. After playing with Vanguard for few hours, I'm thoroughly impressed, satisfied, and with absolutely ZERO complaints (for now)! For us console gaming lovers, GAEMS has done a great service to not only make gaming away from home possible with G155, but now with truly immersive experience with Vanguard. It's absolutely worth the price.

This is a bit long-winded sorry but bear with me as I'm trying to be thorough.

I preordered my Vanguard back on Sep 29th when I stumbled upon it while browsing Halo 4 stuff. I had previously seen the G155 unit in action, and while thoroughly impressed with that unit, I had always hesitated to pull the trigger because of minor qualms such as the viewing angle and the speakers not being quite powerful enough for my liking even though they were plenty loud.

When I saw in this product's description that the viewing angle had been overhauled to allow for viewing from just about any conceivable real-world use scenario, and that on top of that they upgraded the speakers for a more robust audio experience, I decided to bite.

Needless to say, I am not only not disappointed, but the unit and the overall customer service experience has exceeded my highest expectations and then some! I have already ordered a 2nd Vanguard from them.

Display

--------

My litmus test of the display was for bright-lighting scenarios. I placed the unit on my kitchen island with my Halo 4 console strapped in and ready to go and popped in the Halo 4 disc. My kitchen window at that time of day lets in direct sunlight, and even with the brightly lit room the contrast on the screen was absolutely superb, with zero glare on the screen thanks to the matte-finished outer layer of the screen. I wish my 50" plasma TV had this type of outer layer, seriously. I was even able to take a picture using my crappy cell phone camera of the cinematic with Dr Halsey without even being able to pause the playback and the picture came out crystal clear. My cell phone is not known for pictures that good of moving images, speaking further to the crisp resolution and glare-resistant display.

Audio

--------

You can read reviews all day but you seriously have to hear this thing to believe it. I've had high-end gaming laptops in the past the likes of Asus and Alien Ware, and these speakers blow most of those out of the park. You could use this unit as your home television if need be, the audio is THAT good. I'll almost be sad to have to use the headphone jacks when my wife is watching the big TV when I'm gaming, because I just loved the sound of these speakers. Now if I REALLY need to be truly nitpicky and find a single flaw, the bass isn't going to boom you out of your seat. Don't get me wrong. It's plenty loud even at 40% volume; full, rich, and deep and allows for appreciation of the full range of the orchestral score in any AAA game or movie, but don't expect the thumping you hear when some teenager drives down the block with 24" speakers in his trunk that are rattling his windows loose. I could not detect any audio distortion even at max 100% volume either. Why anyone would play with the volume THAT loud is beyond me, but you could if you wanted to.

Build Quality

-------------

The case itself feels very solid. While I wouldn't want to, I also wouldn't freak out if my unit gets dropped by some less-than-attentive airport security official. The pad under the Xbox feels like it would absorb any shock from short drops if it lands on its bottom, and if it lands on its side or top the straps have just enough stretch to absorb some shock without letting the Xbox come loose and damage itself or the screen. My one minor qualm with the case's build is the hinge between the base and the top portion that contains the screen. The hinge itself works fine, but it just feels a tad bit "soft" compared to the rest of the case. I can't describe it very well, but basically when the hinge rotates when you're closing the unit, it has a tiny fraction too much play in it, meaning you have to make sure you align the perimeter of the top over the edges of the bottom to properly and securely close the unit. I think this stems from the fact that the hinge ends a couple inches or so from the edge on either side, allowing for a slight bit of torque or twisting of the top portion as you're closing it. Perhaps in future iterations GAEMS could run the hinge all the way across the back of the unit to prevent this or rethink how the hinge mechanism works. This is a very minor qualm and doesn't bother me all that much, but I want to mention it so people don't think there's something "wrong" with their unit if they purchase one. Overall though the build quality is superb.

Portability

------------

This unit is definitely tops in portability. It's so light that even with my Xbox, power brick, and controllers in it I don't feel like my arm is going to fall off carrying it through the airport. I haven't travelled yet but I carried it around my neighborhood for about 30 minutes and had no problems. Even if your arms get tired, the shoulder strap that comes with the Vanguard would solve that problem. I've been looking around lately just to see what else is out there because I've never really known of similar items prior to seeing their G155, and there really just ISN'T anything else like it out there. Making console gaming portable was definitely an underserved market prior to GAEMS, but any new contenders in the arena are going to have a decidedly uphill battle on their hands because I can't brainstorm any better alternatives. Even pie-in-the-sky scenarios I try to come up are too far in the future based on technology limitations. For the foreseeable future, GAEMS is the end-all of what we as gamers both want and need in making our systems travel-ready. They have some other things in the pipeline that aren't out yet that will also take this to the next level.

Customer Service

----------------------

While I don't normally include customer service in reviews, I think it bears mentioning here. If you read the GAEMS Vanguard discussion here on Amazon you may see some "heated" posts by users upset that they didn't get their unit on Nov 6th as anticipated. This stems from two main factors: hurricane Sandy possibly disrupting shipping channels, and GAEMS being inundated with preorders far surpassing expectations and thus creating a demand larger than initial supply could keep up with. The Vanguard unit (perhaps not Halo-themed, but the same basic build) was originally slated for a 2013 release. GAEMS ramped up their schedule to meet a request from Microsoft and 343i to have the Halo-themed version ready for Halo 4's launch. With preorders growing more rapidly than production could keep up with, a bottleneck arose that led to some frustrations.

All that said, John (co-founder of GAEMS) personally answered numerous questions and went so far beyond the typical canned-response actions we've come to expect as consumers that it deserves praise. I had resigned myself to receiving my unit in mid-December rather than Nov 6th. To my surprise it came via overnight FedEx on Nov 8th. GAEMS made the decision themselves to make sure buyers got their units as fast as possible, including overnight-shipping most (to my knowledge) if not all of existing preorders as they became available. Overnight shipping is costly and cuts into their profit margin, but they are making sure they make the experience as pleasant as possible for us.

Beyond that, they actually WANT us to send back units that have even the most minor flaws such as 1 or 2 dead pixels. Every, and I mean EVERY high-def TV or display I have ever owned has had the stray dead pixel or 2. I just assumed it was normal and it doesn't bother me. I'm typing on a screen with a few as I write this. Despite the commonality of this, GAEMS says NO, if you have dead pixels send it back to us and we'll replace it. Usually you have to fight with a company, or at least REQUEST an exchange, even for more significant problems. For GAEMS to preemptively tell their customers that they want to make sure we swap out our units for even the slightest most insignificant of flaws so that we receive a "perfect" product speaks volumes. Speaking with John on the phone, I could tell beyond doubt that what they say about their company is true. They are Gamers building products for Gamers, not just suits out to make a buck. They will be my go-to for gaming-related gear from here on out.

Update: Jan. 23rd, 2013

Still have not heard from them with regard to the missing D rings. I'm starting to think they fein concern for the sake of looking good but don't actual act on it. Come on guys it's just two pieces of plastic probably worth 25 cents. In any event they lost a star because of this...

----------------------

I'll keep this somewhat short (not really) and sweet. All-in-all a solid buy. I think it's a great little luxury (I got it as a Christmas gift) for those with the extra cash. Keep in mind this review is relative to the cost (i.e., it's a ~$350 unit and the value your getting for that price point). Is it great? yes! Can it compare to a $2K TV? no, but still pretty damn good.

So here's the nuts and bolts:

I use the plus symbol (+) for things I like, minus symbol for things I don't (-) and tilde (~) for things I'm indifferent about.

Build & Packaging:

(+) Solid product construction.

(+) Great care was taken to package the unit so it doesn't get damaged in shipping. This is a rarity these days.

(+) It keeps your console snug and secure.

(-) My unit was missing the little "D" rings which attaches the shoulder straps to the case. So basically cannot use the strap.

Screen:

(+) Picture quality is very good. I used Digital Video Essentials to calibrate the picture because out of the box (default settings) it was a tiny bit bright and washed out. All sorted after making adjustments.

(+) Bright and crisp picture.

(+) 720P (native) but accepts 1080P input as well. I've done a cursory look and this fact doesn't seem to be advertised on their site. There's a tiny blob about the resolution in the manual but nothing is said on any advertising about the unit or on their site.

(~) I have two stuck pixels but I'm fine with that. Others might not be so forgiving so I'm putting it out there for those who may care more than I do. I don't even notice it unless the screen is completely black and even then you have to look for it.

Sound:

(+) The sound blew me away. Loud, clear and without distortion. I read other reviews saying the sound was great but I was a little skeptical.

(+) Two headphone jacks nice touch.

(~) Volume output for the headphone jack is okay. I had to raise the volume control near max for my taste. I mainly use A40s (MLG edition) headphones but I tried others and still have the same concern.

(~) Cables, connectors and accessory storage is a bit tight but satisfactory (I'm using a non-slim xbox). I have to be careful when closing the unit to make sure the mesh bags (they provide) don't get caught in seams.

(-) In addition to storing all the cables/connectors/power/etc. you'll need to play, you can only store one controller. I was a bit bummed by this but it's really a minor concern. Other folks may not even be concerned about this.

Support:

(-) If I had to have a criticism it would be their support structure. Their site list a few ways to get support: forum, Twitter, etc. so I tweeted them about the missing "D" rings and haven't heard back. Kind of a bummer.

Truth be told I know they pay extremely close attention to Amazon reviews so if I want immediate resolution to this without having to give the gift back to the gift giver and have them exchange it (kind of a pain for something so small) I have to write a review. This is an awkward way to get immediate support methinks...

On the positive side they care about the products they put out. This is evident by their careful attention to reviews and by attempting to address all concerns raised by reviewers in a positive and professional manner. So their you have it...

Honest reviews on GAEMS Halo UNSC Vanguard Personal Gaming Environment (Xbox

I rarely write reviews, but this product deserves a mention. I think we can all agree it's an excellent product and serves its purpose very well. But I just want to add, I had this item shipped to me during deployment. A lot of times, our mail arrives with bumps, scrapes, etc. It is packed onto large pallets and airlifted to our ship and it can take over a month at times to get a piece of mail. I was worried that the item would arrive with scratches or a broken screen. I have to say, that Amazon packed it very well and the packaging used by GAEMS was fantastic. I am sure my box got dropped, kicked, thrown or worse. The outside was beat up pretty bad. But the packaging surrounding the unit was superb and it looked like I just picked it up in the store and carefully took it home in my car. Wonderful. I played HALO for several hours last night on it and it was heavenly. Thank you so much for not just a great product GAEMS and AMAZON, but for making sure it arrives to anywhere in the world in mint condition. AAAA+++++

Literally stumbled upon the Vanguard a couple of months ago and until then had never heard about Gaems or their products. I genuinely couldn't be more pleased with it or the quality of service/support I've received from the company. Because my 10-yr old son has become more interested in playing on the Xbox I decided to buy a new console. However, we're a 1-TV family and even though I have a 54" plasma I now use my Vanguard exclusively for all of my Xbox needs (my son can have the TV for all I care and my wife is happy that she doesn't have to compete with me either). I also travel frequently for work and get bored sitting in hotel rooms so this baby will be going with me on my trips to keep me sane (not to mention visits to the in-laws). On top of that I realized that I can tote my Vanguard to my office and play over my lunch hour (much to the envy of my IT uber geek co-workers).

The craftsmanship and design are top-notch and I'm amazed at how quickly/easily everything packs up, especially since the Xbox never leaves the case.

Pre-orders for the Vanguard sold out very quickly and far exceeded anything Gaems could predict. As a result there was a slight delay getting some units to customers (mine arrived 2 days later than expected) but the company stepped up and took the initiative. The co-founder, John Smith, stayed in constant communication with everyone, answered questions, worked with Amazon to coordinate inventory/delivery schedules, and sent EVERYONE who was affected by the delay a complimentary gift package to Vanguard customers.

This bears repeating, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase and becoming a first-time customer Vanguard owner and Gaems customer.

In my rush to order this game, I missed the barely visible reference to needing a steam account under the "DRM" section of the description. I already have and like Steam, so no big deal. The product page should be a little clearer though. The download referenced is merely a STEAM authentication code. If I had known this, probably would have just bought it directly through Steam, which would've been easier.

For those that may not know, this game is based on the popular Ducktales afternoon cartoon show of the Disney Afternoon series of the eighties/early nineties.

This game is great, a nostalgic look back at one of the greatest 8 bit NES games ever. I have had a blast with the couple hours I've spent with it. When this game was mentioned at Wayforward's (the game developer) comic con panel, they said they brought back many of the show's original voice talents, one of which was Alan Young, who is now 93, who voices Scrooge McDuck. The music has also been totally re-vamped, still has those shreds of 8 bit midi awesomeness weaved in there though: AMAZING. It has a ton of unlockables that allow you to open up the original 8 bit theme music and play the game to that instead! It also has Steam achievements, which I love.

If you don't know what DuckTales is as either the show or the 8 bit videogame, you should skip this. This is not the greatest game ever as I've seen lots of critics pounce on it for design choices (it is a 2D platformer after all.) They are missing the point. This game immediately took me back to coming home from school to an empty house (mom and dad both worked) and feeling that awesome anticipation for watching this show (along with the rest of the Disney Afternoon). A couple of the original show's writers referenced that viewers had told them that the Disney Afternoon had actually raised them, that those years spawned a lot of latchkey kids, who had to fend for their selves, due to both parents working to make ends meet.

I found the gameplay to be excellent, maybe not quite as tight as the original 8 bit, but close. The visuals are jaw dropping: after playing this, I watched a play through of the NES version on youtube. You can see how much effort these guys put in to this. Really, really beautiful painted backgrounds, new character animations, and the already mentioned soundtrack. (Many panel-goers at comic con reportedly got misty eyed when the devs played the re-imagined "Moon Theme" soundtrack. I know I would've.)

This is more than a game, it's a piece of history/nostalgia. Ducktales gave me a sense of hope and adventure as a kid, which was something I sorely needed.

If you were like me, and looked forward to the Disney Afternoon after a heinous day at school, this game is for you. It's worth your $15.

This is actually my favorite Wii U game. I remember playing DuckTales back in 1989. It's still a fun platformer and this remake does it right.

THE GOOD

WayForward treated the game with respect. It added beautiful 3D backgrounds, bold 2D character sprites, and adorable cutscenes. The platforming isn't Mario, but the unique mechanic of the pogo stick makes it fun. Some people have complained about the cutscenes, but guess what? You can skip them very easily! In fact, I'd say the game is generally very good about letting you skip cutscenes and scoreboards at the end when compared to Mario.

THE BAD

The only bad thing about the game is that the jumping mechanic from ropes doesn't work all that well. This is usually not a problem except for the last stage (which I am sure was not in the original game), which requires a lot of ripe-jumping.

THE VERDICT

I love that WayForward remade this game. I only hope we get more like this (Darwking Duck and Chip & Dale deserve remakes too).

Best Deals for DuckTales: Remastered

When I was a kid, this Disney show was one of my most favorite. Not only did I not know that the show ran for only 100 episodes, or that it inspired a Darkwing Duck spin-off, but I didn't even know that they had their own video games, including a sequel, both which were made by Capcom, the same company that made Mega-Man games, and the VS Calvin games.

Scripts McDuck, his nephews, Huey, Duey and Louie, His niece, Webbigail, Webby for short, go on a treasure hunt when they discover a treasure map hidden away inside Scrooge' s painting, after saving it from Scrooge' s enemies, the Be able Boys.

With help from his friends, including Launch pad McQuack, Duckworth, Mrs. Beakly, Buba Duck, and even Gizmo-Duck, Scrooge begins his hunt for the treasures that are revealed on the treasure map. Along the way, although he gets help from his friends, and his nephews, he gets a run-in from his two old foes; a lady witch-like duck named Magica DeSpell and his foe, a Scotland duck named Flint-Heart Clompgold, who will stop at nothing to get the treasure before HE does..., unless Scrooge beats them to it first.

The fun thing about this "Remastered" version is the fact that you can jump into, and swim around in Scrooge' s money bin. The downside? Well, even though you get jewels that get you money, they have background art, concept art, even TV art that you can WASTE that money on. As far as I'm concerned, I may not be Scrooge McDuck myself..., but I don't have to be to know that that would actually be breast thing that he himself would ever waste HIS money on.

Despite all of that, this isn't that bad of a game. If the original game, which I myself haven't played, was good, than this version... is the best. If you're a DuckTales fan, like me and anyone else out there who is a Fan of the show, and their movie, Treasure of the Lost Lamp, and weather you have played the original, or not, give this one a try. You might be surprised.

5 stars out of 5, and a 10 out of 10 for DuckTales Remastered: The Video Game.

You feel the luck..., Duck? ;)

Honest reviews on DuckTales: Remastered

This game is incredible on all accounts. Not only did they improve on the video and the sound effects, but the music is stellar as well. This remastered version takes a filet mignon that is Ducktales on the NES and turns into a 10 course fancy feast. Every stage is lengthened with extra play scenes with cinematic scenes throughout. All the missing pieces that were never explained in the NES are explained here.

Be prepared to have a very fast computer as this game is a CPU and video memory hog. The video is that good that it needs all that power. This game is worth every penny. I highly recommend it if you are from the 8-bit or even 16-bit era.

Some of the big game review sites like IGN and Gamespot have been giving this title a bad wrap. I'm here to tell you to IGNORE the haters!

As a fan of the original DuckTales for the Nintendo Entertainment System, I found myself feeling skeptical about this "Remastered" version of the game. Why would you want to mess with something so great? Did the game really need to be updated with the latest graphics and audio? The answer is YES!

Aside from the updated graphics and music (the soundtrack is amazing!) Disney tracked down the original voice actors from the DuckTales cartoon series (1987 1990) even Alan Young (voice of Scrooge McDuck) at 93 years old was down for some Duckberg shenanigans!

Disney added animated cut scenes into the game a nice touch! Makes it feel more cinematic like the TV show!

In short, this game rocks. It's a great tribute to a fantastic game and is totally worth every penny!

This is probably the most solid track pack out there. Most quality songs cost $2 a piece, so 20 for $20 is a great deal. Just don't buy it used, there's a one-time code in these that will allow you to import the songs into Rock Band for free (after the cost of the pack). If it's used, someone has used the code, and you're stuck with a lower-functioning version of Rock Band that's on the disc.

I own just about every Rock Band and Guitar Hero title available. Sure, they're fun -especially Rock Band Legos which the whole family will enjoy -but let's face it, most of these titles are chock full of bands you don't know, and even after being forced to play their mediocre tunes, you still won't care.

Which is why I'm so glad I picked up the Classic Rock track pack. It's more than just a set of great songs -EVERY track is solid gold -it plays all on its own. No need to have anything but a guitar and this disc.

If you grew up in the '70s and '80s you will bang your head and rock out to every single track.

And now that it's priced at a very reasonable $20ish, you've got no excuse to dive right in.

Rock on!

Although this works as a standalone Rock Band game, you shouldn't get any of these track packs as a replacement for the main games. They have a quarter of the songs and half the features. You won't be able to play online or make your own characters. Furthermore, all of the songs on this pack can be bought individually on the Rock Band online store through the main game in either part 1 or part 2, so you won't be missing out on anything to pass this by.

The #1 selling point and the reason I am giving this 5 stars, though, is because this game is supplied with a code on a piece of paper that anyone can use one time to allow them to download all 20 songs for free. That means you can buy this pack and then e-mail the code off to a friend. You can still keep the disc for yourself, too! The code makes a great gift for anyone you know who's too cheap to buy songs for themselves. Maybe you're never going to get your buddy to decide on which songs to buy, and even if you give them points they "save" them "just in case". This code will force them to finally expand their library so you're not always playing the same tired songs when you visit or play together online. As for the quality of the tracklist, these songs are, for the most part, some of the better downloadable classic rock songs. Harmonix have a vast library of songs for Rock Band, so they have an easy time assembling 20 good ones.

You don't need a paid subscription to XBox Live to download and play the songs with the code. You just need an ethernet connection, which I'm sure 99% of gamers do have at this point.

As a less important point of interest, these track pack discs all have 250 points of achievements tied to them, for those of you who just can't get enough of the gamerscore.

Although this disc is not going to appeal to the vast majority of people, for those who want to surprise a friend with 20 songs, it serves its purpose.

I was disappointed that Splinter Cell Conviction did not have as many gadgets as Splinter Cell Double Agent. I think that for the next Splinter Cell, it should incorporate the stealth features of the previous versions as well as upgrades. Overall, it was a good play.

I just want to say that this game is THE best espionage action game I ever played. Despite minor inconveniences, such as buggy xbox 360 controller support on windows 7, the game is indeed solid. The studios at UBISOFT Montreal really have outdone themselves. The graphics are stellar, even though the game uses DirectX 9.0c and not 10 or even 11. I like the way the story is told to the player and the way the developers just envelop you, the player, in a very exciting and interesting world. The learning curve is not too bad and actually maybe easier for players who think "outside the box". Finally, the game's difficulty is augmented by the excellent AI portrayed by enemy combatants and excellent level design that encourages creative solutions and problem solving for the player to manuever through.

As I have stated initially, the only gripe that can truly be found about this game is the issues of usage with an xbox 360 controller with the game and maybe the fact that you need a permenant internet connection to play the game. Basically, when playing this game on I believe only windows 7, the buttons on the controller are not mapped properly. To remedy this, I use a Logitech F310 gamepad that can switch between xinput and logitech's own driver set, the latter being the appropriate mode for the game to play beautifully. Just have Logitech's profiler point to the game's executable, run the executable, and enjoy.

If you enjoy being a hero with untold precision and menacing military tactics at his disposal, you will indeed love playing this game. You can make Sam Fisher be a real killing machine once you get a hang of the game.

this game is great. it has an surprizeing story line. over 100 characters to be. 5 main characters for story. cool characters. change what your main character looks like such as hair, clothing, tattoos, and plastic surgery. so many options to chose what to do to your enemy. such as interrorgate, kill, recrut and more. create your own battles. sweat cutscenes. cool wepons such as katinas,shotguns,9mm, glass, steel beam, and tons more. your story could go good or bad. the differant ranks you have the different your story could go such as meating old friends and betraying old and new friends. and yes i know i can't spell. in the end just get this game and see for your self.

this is one of my favorite games of all time. it is set in a scene of constant crime and corruption. You play as a choice of a few different characters with different fighting styles and seek vengeance on the mob that runs the town. a great way to get anger out. it is graphic and has harsh language but it all just adds to making the game more realistic and a great time.

Best Deals for Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance

I was a huge fan of streets of rage, final fight and all those beat 'em ups, so I've always tried to find games like that. This is a little bit like but falls way short on almost all levels. You get to beat the crap out of generic baddies with a cheesy inner city plot. Gangs, betrayal, bad guys that are actually good guys and at times a bad irish accent. You can pick from a handful of run of the mill butt kickers and get some outfits and new moves. Typical stuff. Its fun but i'd probably be dissapointed if I hadn't nabbed it really cheap.

Customer Ratings: 4 stars

When i played the first Digimon Rumble Arena on Playstation it was fun. Then i found out they made a second one and found it. It is a basic fighting game with one button presses for powers. The problem is that the game could be too simple even for a group fighting genre. Smash Brothers require a timed button press to do super attacks. This has no such thing. All characters control about the same. There are some who are faster and others who are stronger.

I must admit it is nice to see more forms like rookie, champion and mega. There are a lot of characters to unlock, but the end boss isn't cheap as the first one. You can beat the game on easy or hard and still enjoy the combat. Megas are fun to play with and almost the whole cast is there. The graphics are a little better, but not by much. I must say something is missing on this game, but I can't put my finger on it. I think the game becomes fun when you play with four players, but I would not know because I can never get no one to play with me. :(

Buyer beware, only buy this game if you are a Digimon fan or liked the first rumble arena. If not, it will collect dust just like your other Gamecube games.

This play and charge was a great addition to my 360 system. The battery life is lower than using standard alkaline batteries but buy a couple extra battery packs and you're good to go. It still lasts plenty long for several lengthy rounds of Black Ops Zombies. If you need a new controller I would recommend this. The cable is plenty long and lets you play and charge simultaneously. If you don't need to play and charge, I would recommend the dual-battery high speed charger. It's not really as "speedy" as the name makes it sound but allows you to charge 2 packs simultaneously without having your xbox on.

I bought this to replace an older controller, but the battery doesn't stay charged for very long, so basically it is just plugged in all the time. So it might have been better to just buy the wired controller. My last controller would last days on a charge, this one only last hours.

Discount Rabbids: Alive & Kicking

Rabbids: Alive & Kicking
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My family has been playing Rabbids for a few days now and it is a game that the entire family loves. The game is rated E-10+. My 4 and 7 year-olds are able to play the games but three in particular are for more mature children, those being Buttock-o-gram, Horse Jockey, and Silhouet.

Also a warning about the game Headbutts: This game could cause injury. Please bend at the waist and rock or "headbutt" with your entire torso and not your neck. Make sure your neck is always aligned with your torso and don't jar it. It's still possible to play this safer way and win. No need to head butt and tweak your neck and injure yourself.

While the menu is fairly user friendly to maneuver, it is often easier to use a control. The "hand" version is very sensitive and with so much on the menu, it is easy to miss the option you are trying to choose.

The directions are sometimes vague and that can be frustrating in some of the games.

There is no "exit" to the party games once they are started. The party games have the potential to last for several hours. An option to exit would be nice.

The disc has 34 Quick Play games, 3 party games (one which utilizies the quick play games), there is an extra category that I haven't yet explored and then some additional features that I also didn't explore as of yet.

The quick play games can accommodate 1-4 players (depending on the game). The party games can accommodate up to 16 players.

A brief rundown of the quick play games. I may have the names of the games a bit wrong. I was trying to jot down notes in between games and must have been really into the games as I couldn't read some of my handwriting.

1. Hacked OffUp to 2 players. Think old time magic shows where the magician saws his assistant in half. The rabbids are in a tower of blocks. The players work together to saw the block, then kick it out of the way.

2.Udder NonsenseUp to 3 players. You are a cheerleader and must follow the moves of the cow mascot. Examples of the moves are the chicken and the madador. Fun types of movements.

3. Slapping StationUp to 2 players. The Rabbids are hangning out of train cars. You must slap them as they go by, reaching or squatting depending on where they are. If two players are slapping, they are instructed to switch sides.

4. Crazy SalesUp to 2 players. You are a security guard in a mall. You must run and punch your way through a crowd of Rabbids.

5. Rabbids in the Hole1 player. This one has several levels that can be unlocked. Think old school Donkey Kong type of screen. You have to maneuver 3 rabbids into a designated area by pressing buttons to make ramps and floors to get the beam you want them on.

6.Flaming balls of fireUp to 2 players. Firestation. There is a fire pole on each side of a truck where two rabids are roasting marshmallows. The balls of flaming marshmallows get loose and the player must reach and squat to move their firefighter up and down the pole to deflect the fire. Much like old school Pong. Very fun.

7. Salmon Rush DayUp to 2 players. Swim upstream like a salmon trying to hit some targets and avoid some obstacles. Full use of body in this one.

8. Rabzilla-Up to 2 players. The monster Rabizilla is throwing things. A target appears in the spot you must reach for in order to keep the projectiles from hitting you.

9. Life's A Beach-Up to 2 players. Crazy Rabids in diving masks are making their way toward you. You must pump and aim water at them before they reach you.

10. Hot Dogs in Danger-Up to 2 players. You are in a hot dog suit and protecting a bunch of hot dogs. You must block the rabids with your weiner suit and then shake them off so that you can block more.

11.Pumped UpUp to 2 players. You are a body builder. There is a picture of the pose you must stand in. Do this and your muscles pump up.

12. Rabbid -o-meter-1 player. The Rabbid is in a car wash. The player must MAKE NOISE to get the rabbid to walk to the obstacles to hurt it. Not a fan of the noise making.

13. Snot Funny-1 player. I thought this one was hard. A rabbid sneezes. You must spin to make a fake boogie fling to the rabbid. I wasn't successful at this game at all.

14. Tenderfoot Dance-Up to 2 players. Players move around to avoid projectiles.

15. Wack-a-Rabid-Up to 2 players. Stomp and kick the rabbids that appear from the ground.

16.Sauce Wars-Up to 2 players. A rabbid makes a mess on the floor. Move your feet as if you were speed skating to clean up the mess.

17. Guitar ZeroUp to 2 players. This game has levels/songs to unlock. This is a family favorite. Follow color coded notes to "catch" them on your guitar.

18. Big Brother-Up to 4 players. Another faily favorite. You are standing behind 2 oblivious rabbids. You wiggle and dance. When it looks like they are going to turn around, you must run and hide. So much fun.

19. Now You See Me-Up to 4 players. You are in a dark room. The rabids have a spotlight that they are shinging in the window. You must duck and jump to avoid being detected by the light.

20. Inner Journey-Up to 4 players. You sit on the floor for this game. You lean forward to move through the body of a rabbid. Some targets you want to hit, some you want to avoid.

21. Silhouet-Up to 4 players. This is one of the games that is iffy for younger children. You are in the shower, behind a curtain. An image appears on the curtain. You and the other players must maneuover your bodies to form that image. This is hard. The key isn't to fill the shadow but to point your body in the direction that the game wants you to. So, if you cheat, the shadow won't register. For example, one image was like a sumo wrestler squatting. I didn't necessarily fill the entire shadow but my feet and hands were in the right direction so I succeeded at that shape.

22. Ninja YoyoUp to 2 players.I still don't know how to play this game. It is like a bungi jump. I have yet to score points on this one.

23. D.J. Sniper-Up to 2 players. Another game that I don't really know how to play yet. You are supposed to "quick draw" once the disc is thrown. Again, no clue how to actually play this one since I have yet to score points on it.

24. Rabbid Skin. Up to 2 players. You have to dodge a target for 10 seconds.

25. Bon Appetit. Up to 2 players. Move your body to clean/suck up a trail of spaghetti sauce.

26. Buttock-o-gram. 1 player. This is another iffy game for young people. You face your rear to the Kinnect and must wiggle your booty in the same pattern that is shown on the game.

27. Horse Jockey-Up to 2 players. This one you are on a pretend horse. You have to kind of hump the horse to get it moving. This is the third game that is questionable for a younger audience.

28. Run Rabbid Run-Up to 2 players. You have to run over 80 meters within a certain amount of time. You have to exaggerate your leg movements for it to read them.

29. Rabbid-o-tron 1-Up to 2 players. This is a trivia/brain teaser type of game. The players must be able to read. You have a certain amount of time to read the question and look at the screen. Then the images go away and you have to choose the correct answer.

30. Rabbid-o-tron 2-Same as above but with a different type of question.

31. Rabbid-o-tron 3Same as above but with a different type of question.

32. Rabbid-o-tron 4-Same as above but with a different type of question.

33. Rabbid-o-tron 5-Same as above but with a different type of question.

34. Pie face-Up to 2 players. Use your body to move around the pie tin to "eat" it.

35. Scanner Surprise-Up to 2 players. Use your hands to clean off the xray film to see the silly xray.

There are 3 party games, Forfeits, The Kitten, and Carrot Juice. In the interest of getting this review posted quickly for hoiday shoppers, I am posting before having played The Kitten and Carrot Juice. I will update my review once I know what those games entail.

In Forfeits, up to 16 people can play. You set up a character for each player. Kinnect takes a photo of the player and the voice can be recorded. The Xbox picks a random Quick play game and tells which two players will play. The loser has loses points on their meter. He/she then has to do a stunt like singing their least favorite song or do an Irish dance. This is called a forfeit. The other players get to vote on whether the forfeitted player does a good job. If they vote yes (by standing by a thumbs up image), the player doens't lose any additional points on their meter. If they vote no (by standing next to a thumbs down sign), the player loses additional points on their meter. The XBox then chooses another game and players. Once a player's meter hits zero, they are out of the game. The final player with points on their meter wins.

Overall, I love Rabbids. I would buy it. My kids enjoy the quick games. They can easily play it for an hour and get in some exercise and burn off some energy.

Like I mentioned above there were a few games that my husband objected to...which surprised me considering some of the game he plays. So, I do feel the need to deduct a star for that because the games are geared toward minors. Not to say these wouldn't be really funny party games for adults. Anyway, I do recommend this.

It would be helpful if the game included an instruction bookelt and with cautions for the head butt game. But, it's still worth the retail price for what is offered on the disc.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I didn't know what to expect from this game. I thought it may have been one of those "throwaway" Kinect games and wouldn't be very good. Boy, was a wrong! This game is a Gem of mini-game fun! Not so much a party game as it is just a blast to play with multiple players. Our family had big laughs with this game and the wealth of mini-games made it a family favorite. Plus, as with many Kinect games, you get a decent workout! Between jumping, swimming, dancing and even playing the guitar, you get a pretty good workout and have fun doing it. His is one of the best kept Kinect secrets out there.

Best Deals for Rabbids: Alive & Kicking

I enjoy this game, but we thought it would be more fun for parties. When it came time to get a group playing we found it very slow paced. Just way too many time sinks: i.e. the games last like 1 minute then you have 4-5 minutes of set up, loading, photos, etc. Also, at our last party several people forfeited their match by accidentally moving their hand at the wrong time... which really messed things up and is IMHO a very poor design.

Honest reviews on Rabbids: Alive & Kicking

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This game may be a cheap thrill to get the kids, but it just doesn't cut it for anyone else. The mini games are lacking and the forced, exaggerated motions that the player has to make to get the game to respond make things tiresome quickly. I was excited to see the rabbids in action; however, I quickly grew bored. I understand that they are forcing Kinect at people, but this feels like a wasted opportunity, through and through.

If you see this on the discount stand and know some kid with Kinect, this might be worth it. If not, do not bother.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Rabbids: Alive & Kicking

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a fun, unique Kinect game that offers tons of variety and replay value, either alone, or with others. It is important to note that this is a collection of mini-games, not tied together with any story. If you are looking for depth in gaming, this isn't for you.

The games are fun and easy to learn. The Kinect controls are perfect, and I rarely noticed any mistracking or errors due to the Kinect sensor. The games utilize the full ability of Kinect: there's some stomping, throwing, bending, noise making -in essence, if there's something you can do with your body, this game will require you to do it. Some of the games will have you a bit winded, and if you play this game for quite some time, you're getting an effective workout.

The game makes great use of augmented reality to actually put you and your room in the game. One game in particular has you dodging bombs, lasers, and traps as they appear on your room's floor -along with you. Even the opening title sequence places your room into the window of an apartment. It's a great touch and attention to detail.

The real fun occurs when more than one player is involved. The single-player games are modified for multiple players to make use of more than one player -depending on the mode you select, it either requires cooperation or competition. The teamwork modes force you to think quickly and beat the clock, since most of the mini games are two or three minutes. It's great fun for family, especially since the game snaps photos during the sessions and displays them on-screen. A lot of times one player can't really see what the other player is doing, but the photos end up showing the "whole picture".

The game has incredible replay value due to several creative Xbox 360 achievements. The more you play, the more you'll unlock. In this game, it's about quantity and time -the developers made sure you'll come back again and again.

Overall, this is a great game that will make you smile often. It's the type of game that you can play for either a few minutes or for hours at a time, whenever you want to play something that doesn't require too much thinking. I recommend this as a great Kinect game that's really fun for either a single player or a small to large groups.

Darkest of Days for the PC and 360 is one of those games which you will enjoy. The game takes you to different time periods and you have to use that period's weapons but the game sparse it up with the occasional future weaponry. Your objective is to stop the alteration of time because some random little errors are popping up and that is of course is not good.

Your companion through all of this is a man named Dexter. Dexter is awesome and his dialog though the game will keep you definitely involved in what is going on and will give you the occasional laugh. Through the game you will have a side that you are on, ranging from the Yanks (North), Rebels (South) in the civil war to the Russians in both world wars and throw in a couple of time agents along the way to the conclusion of the game which ends the current events and set things up for a nice sequel which I hope they make.

The game uses a new engine named Marmoset which allows for literally hundreds of enemies that are not half bad in the intelligents department to be on screen at once. This make the huge battles extremely fun and I really hope to see this engine implemented in other games as the possibilities for awesome are quite high.

Likes: Dexter, large battles, the dialog, The Zeppelin level, Final level, Briefings

Dislikes: Slight lag, lack of variety in the achievements

Gameplay

Gameplay for the game is simple in its set up, you go back in time to various periods after you are rescued from you imminent death at the beginning of the game. You can choose which periods you wish to go to which gives so variety to the game. Once there you and Dexter, who will often be in a separate area but occasionally you work together, take care of what your objective is while trying to maintain historic accuracy.

You use the period's weapons as stated before in combat, though the general categories can be modified for increased accuracy, clip size, ext, for both the rifle and pistol which you will be equipped with when you go back in time. You do this by earning points by not screwing things up in time. This basically amounts to not killing people with a blue aura around them. This can be done by ether using the Chasers which will target these people and knock them out safely so you don't have to worry about it.

You will go through various time periods from Custard's last stand where you were about to die when rescued, to the Civil War, and both World War 1 & 2, along with the final location which I will keep a secret so the surprise in not spoiled for you. In these periods you can view your map to see where you need to go and the objectives will vary from, get to him, assault this position, participate in battle, find this guy, ext. The objectives do vary enough even though I didn't make is sound so.

Graphics

In the graphic department the game does pretty good. I am not big on graphics so rarely does a game disappoint, but this game does its environments well. From the Civil War to both World Wars the environments will not disappoint.

Characters have a variety to them, so you will not feel like you are gunning down the same guy for, what was it, the 714th time. Dexter who is your main companion and friend through the game has an interesting look to him. He always has a hat on and the style would make you think he is from maybe the west but he comes from New York City. Then you have Mother, the Doctor's mysterious research assistant who you only see on screen. She is done in a way that will keep the mystery alive as she never appears in full face on screen.

Graphically the game will not disappoint.

Presentation

The games presentation is of medium class. The game does give an interesting concept which is good but it doesn't wow you but at the same time it doesn't disappoint. The manual is the basics of the game and not much flair is put into it. Not a bad thing, but I like it when they make the nice fancy manuals with character descriptions and game facts.

Overall in the Presentation department the game is average. Online marketing is awesome but the game itself is pretty average in this category.

Value

Is the game worth buying? Yes, the game was already coming out at a discount price which was very nice way of saying "Hi we're the new guys, try our game.". Since then the game most likely game down in price and you can get further discounts so the game meets the asking price and will not disappoint Value wise.

Fun Level: 4/5

Closing statement

I have seen on other websites poor reviews of the game; well frankly they don't know what they hell they are talking about. Just because this isn't just another mass produced corporate game doesn't make it bad. I enjoyed the game thoroughly and I know you will to. That is why it gets my recommendation.

I would recommend though that if you have a PC that can play it that you get it for that or install it to your X-box 360 to improve performance.

Final Score 3.8/5 (rating system 1 to 5 how good it is. -1 to -5 how bad it is)

Parental Warning

The game contains blood, death and war along with some mature subject matters that they may not be ready for regarding morality. As always use discretion when choosing and allowing your children to play games.

This game was amazing. Never before has a company made a game that was as good for WW1 or the civil war. This game is for people who like large scale fighting, not the little side mission crap. Plus I had been looking for a good WW1 game for a while and this game has some amazing trench warefar and WW1 parts to it

Honest reviews on Darkest of Days - Xbox 360

As many other customers have stated, this game has potential, but a few things are missing. I agree, visually, there are things lacking. From a game play stand point, yes, it has its goods and bad's. I don't want to spoil too much with this game, but there were so many things that could have been done with this game to make it a first rate five star game. Was it worth the seven dollar rental, yes. I don't know if I would advise running out and paying full price for it though. Overall, I enjoyed most of it, but I did not find myself wanting to play it again right away as I have some games in the past.

I knew what I was getting when I purchased this so if you gave it one or two stars, you should have looked into it. Graphics aren't great and has a few bugs. But I knew it was going to be like that. The idea is where I gave it 4 stars. This game should be picked up and re-made by some big name software engineer company, and it would make big bucks. Who wouldn't want to go back in time with an assault rifle and take on soldiers with muskets? It's like a childhood dream come true

This is an excellent game. This is one of the few games that has very funny cut scenes and great humor throughout the game. The action is also great, and the special weapons (like the 'land shark' or the 'pocket black-hole') are superb. I enjoyed most of the experience.

Why only 4 stars? Because of the idiotic save-game system! The way you save in this game is by visiting pubs that can be found in the levels (usually one per level). While visiting these pubs is great fun (take the time to listen to the dialog!), they do not work well for their intended purpose. For one, they are to inconsistently positioned. Sometimes, you may play for half an hour, just to find a pub 2 minutes before the end of the level. This causes you to replay very large portions of the game, some of which you literally have to learn by heart and play absolutely perfect (count your bullets!) to make it through.

The other problem with the pub-save-system is that the levels are way too big for a single save point (and the levels with more than one pub are generally the shorter ones for some odd reason). It's just not cool to play for 30 minutes or more without an oportunity to save. You often achieve major objectives with no save point anywhere to be seen.

Also, you will find yourself going back to the pubs just to save the game again. This means that you end up running through previously cleared parts of a level with nothing to do. For minutes at a time! Can you say 'boring'?

If this game had a better save-game system, it would be pure fun and an instant classic. The developers cheat themselves out of a great title with this sort of nonsense. I even considered dropping the game's rating to 3 stars, just because of this issue!

This game is about one thing: fun. It is outrageous, it has very unrealistic weapons (Shark gun, world's smallest black hole, etc.", and it has a ragtag group known as the Lionhearts. I'm not sure how far through the game I am at this point, but I can't put it down. The jet pack missions are just awesome.

The game won't win any awards for graphics, but they do the trick. No complaints there. The voice work is some of the best I've ever heard. And the sound is top-notch.

The cut-scenes that move the story along are a treat...parodying star wars among other things.

If you just wanna play an old-school, blast 'em up game, this is it. I highly recommend this one.

This game is just plain fun. Not a lot of logic, and the plot and story are so-so, but when it comes to action and humor, this is one of the best titles to grace the market in some time. You play Roman, the leader of a group of ragtag heroes known as the Lionhearts. You're accompanied by Jonesy, a moleman who speaks with a thick Scottish brogue and is (more or less) an expert with explosives; Q, formerly one of the King's robotic guards who became self-aware and now spends as much time making tea as fighting; and Rexus, a squat, smelly, and blind seer who's not so sharp after suffering head trauma. The plot is pretty straightforward: Find the Book of Rule and use it to break the evil King's rule over the land. The format is very simple: Go from Point A to Point B, find this or that, destroy this or that, and kill everything that gets in your way. It's a very simplistic shooter, and under other circumstances, this game would barely dent the market. But what makes "Armed and Dangerous" stand out is its sense of humor and non-stop action.

The game's humor may be its strongest aspect. The characters are just plain funny, with Rexus and Jonesy stealing most of the best lines. The game takes shots at the French and references "Aliens," "Lord of the Rings," and especially "Star Wars," (this is from LucasArts, after all). The cutscenes are especially funny, with jokes and gags about cannibalism, leprosy, and even a doomspeaking evangelist type who looks a lot like Elvis. There's also an exploding sheep (Seriously). Especially funny are a trio of gardening robots that are reprogrammed to be soldiers; unfortunately, the programming backfires: they only want to defend plants and flowers, go into battle screaming "Death to the salad-eaters!" and nearly execute a poor villager for being a "cereal killer" (he was caught reaping wheat!)

Equally funny are the weapons you're provided with. Some are given at the beginning of a level; other are rewarded when you reach various pubs scattered throughout the game (these also serve as save points and will recharge your health). You get some pretty standard weapons: rifle, machine gun, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, etc. But it's the special weapons that are most fun: There's the Land Shark Gun, which fires a projectile that turns into--you guessed it--a shark that gobbles up your enemies from under the ground! There's the Guy Fawkes Traitor Bomb (a clever reference to a notorious English traitor) which makes your enemies turn against each other for a time. There's the Topsy Turvy Bomb, which briefly reverses gravity and causes your enemies to fly off the earth; and my personal favorite, The World's Smallest Black Hole. Toss it and stand back, because it sucks in everything around it.

Most of the missions are straightforward and usually involve defending something or someone or knocking out enemy positions. The game switches from third-person (with a thankfully fixed camera position) to first-person when you take the helm of a mounted gun and defend a village or the like from advancing troops (who come in swarms). Too many get over the wall and the mission fails. Other missions involve flying (with a cool jetpack-type device) across levels and finding and destroying enemy positions. Located throughout the game are tokens that will unlock special features and cheats (though most gamesites have them posted). The graphics are above-average, controls are uncomplicated and easy to use, and the voicework is top notch, with animation standouts Jeff Bennett, Kath Soucie, and Rob Paulson providing many of the voices.

A couple of hints: When you hear a siren alerting the enemy to your presence, find it as quickly as possible and destroy it. Otherwise, enemies keep coming as long as it is sounding. The same is true for the rounded troop houses you encounter here and there. Much like the generators in "Gauntlet," they'll keep spawning enemies until you destroy them. Two Sticky Bombs will usually do the trick. If you can't hit a sniper attacking you from a window, throw a Sticky Bomb onto the structure and just blow up the building and him with it. When attacking rocket towers, run underneath them. They can't hit you if you're right below them. Also, when defending Lily's house in Zitwalla, stay near her house. There's no need to wander away to find enemy paratroopers and leave Lily's house undefended; they'll come to you. As long as her home and at least one other residence survives, you'll complete the level. (That was the only one that gave me any trouble). Oh, and once you beat the game (a reasonable challenge) stay tuned through the final cutscene for a funny sing-along.

If you like a good shoot-em-up with a sense of humor (think Serious Sam, for example), then this is the game for you.

Honest reviews on Armed And Dangerous

"Armed and Dangerous" is an immensely quirky and amusing game that fuses 3rd person action and uproarious comedy into one entertaining, if imperfect, package.

The game casts you as Roman, a handkerchief-wearing bandit who is absorbed by the world's struggle against a tyrannical king when he would rather just steal expensive things. He is joined by a tea-fueled droid called "Q," a surly Scottish mole named Jonesy, and a blind seer named Rexus. The storyline itself isn't anything to write home about, but the characters are great. The cinematics are usually so funny that they're worth watching several times, and they even have a kind of claymation quality that feels entirely appropriate. Unfortunately, the gags do become generally less amusing as the game progresses, but not by a significant margin.

Jonesy and "Q" are not characters restricted to the cinematics, though. They are featured prominently during gameplay as well. They provide support and covering fire for Roman, and Roman can even issue them a few basic orders, but the two often feel like set dressing that moves. They do not serve any strategic or tactical purpose, and even if they are killed in battle they magically reappear in the next mission. Even so, their inclusion is appreciated, as they banter and offer some pretty good one-liners, and occasionally do help out when things are rough.

The game's action is visceral and entertaining and as this one's an action title that's certainly saying something. Aiming is a snap on the Xbox version, and you'll never feel restricted by the controller response time. Shooters do not usually shine on console systems, but this one does. On top of that, "Armed and Dangerous" provides some of the most inventive, original, and downright satisfying weapons ever seen in a game of this type. Its tone allows for weapons that can literally launch sharks at your enemies (that then burst from the ground and snap up the unwary opposition), create small black holes, and even turn the entire world upside down for a few seconds at a time. Jet packs also come into play, and allow Roman to leap and glide through the air while causing all sorts of mayhem.

The game's action is undermined a bit by its bland and repetitive mission objectives, though. Too often you will find yourself rescuing peasants or demolishing a set number of buildings. What's more, you'll find yourself gunning down the same dog-faced enemies over and over again, with few exceptions. While all of this is fun in small or medium-sized doses, lengthy sessions become very monotonous. To top it off, "Armed and Dangerous" just isn't very challenging. The so-called Flemming machinegun hardly ever runs out of ammunition, and enemies are of the run-and-gun variety. Only one of the game's missions ups the ante, and it goes too far in the other direction it's downright frustrating.

"Armed and Dangerous" provides some gorgeous terrain graphics, and its characters are likewise good-looking. There are clipping issues, but it's not something that detracts from the overall experience. Sound effects are likewise inspiring, and the voice talent assembled for the game is excellent as well. The score effectively conveys a comedic world that is a sort of interplanetary stand-in for rural England, and it provides a good, quirky backdrop to the action (though glitches can sometimes cause it to loop).

All in all, "Armed and Dangerous" is quite satisfying. It has some serious flaws that keep it from achieving a classic status, but it's a good solid game that I recommend with few reservations. Cheers!

Final Score: B

When i say that this game is probobly the funniest game up to date, i am not joking at all. Just watching these characters imitating the british accent is hilarious, not to mention the cutscenes, where, for example, a character gets shoved up a rhinos a$$, because he is catching a cold and everyone thinks that he will "warm up" that way. That was probobly one of the funniest scenes in the entire game.

Now on to the actual review. As i always do, i will break my review down into sections of graphics, gameplay and audio.

GraphicsThe graphics in Armed and Dangerous are probobly the only problem in this game all together. I think that they could have done a much better job with the graphics aspect of it. The character models aren't that in depth in terms of detail, and the cutscenes, all though extremely hilarious/funny, lack in detail and animation as most games on Xbox now a days do not. If this game was a PS2/Gamecube only game, i wouldn't complain so much considering that those systems graphics are much worse then those of the Xbox's. The background animation lacks in detail as well considering that the landscape and where the game takes place is extremely simplistic. The movements of the characters are also very choppy and should have been much more smoothed out for a more "comfortable" gaming experience. Sometimes, i thought that the game was going to freeze up on me because of the extremely slow speed/framerate which is just unexceptable when your talking about a high powered system like the Xbox.

GameplayAhhhh, the best part of this entire game is the gameplay itself. When there are guns that you can use like the "Shark gun" which shoots out a shark that eats people, you cant help but laugh your head off.

No doubt that this game was making fun of real games/movies like Star Wars when theres a small intro on the back of the game reading..

"A smack-talking rag-tag bad of rebels

bound n an impossible quest. With an areseal

of outrageous weapons, they're destined for

victory in 12,000 bullets or less. If they can

make it through an army of psychotic robots and

wall-smashing Goliaths, they just might save the world...If they don't burn it down first..."

See what i mean?

The cutscenes are another aspect of this game which make it definetely worth buying. They are beyond hilarious way funnier then even some comedy movies that i've seen; now thats funny!

The controls in Armed and Dangerous are fairly easy to master and don't require much skill, neither does the game thank god. (I hate games now a days that require skill, they end up not even being fun.)

So all in all, the gameplay in Armed and Dangerous is amazing and cannot be forgotten!

AudioThe audio in Armed and Dangerous is another great thing about the game. The voice overs are apsolutely brilliant, the music is great and the sound effects are well done as well. When you listen to it without watching it, you can just tell that its a spoof on a actual battle game!

There is also a downloadable level that you can get off Xbox Live, but there isn't any online/offline multiplayer which is a really big bummer, because i think that they could have had the potential to do that, it would have certainly be possible!

So in conclusion, Armed and Dangerous is recommended for all gamers out there in the world. If you are a hardcore multiplayer fan, then this might not be the game for you, but for everyone else, this is worth your money!

Mad Catz Officially Licensed Major League Gaming Pro Circuit MLG Controller for Xbox 360

Well.

Let me start by saying there are few people in this world who want to like this product more than I do. I am a competitive Halo player, and the quality control of Microsoft wired controllers are poor (hence the infamous directional slow turn problem with many of them). Getting a perfectly consistent Microsoft controller that moves the same speed in all thumbstick directions is literally like playing the lotto. Google "slow-turn problem with Microsoft wired Xbox 360 controllers" for more information on that.

Naturally, this Mad Catz product appeared to fill this void. However, after going through 2 versions of this product (I thought the first was defective so I gave another a try), I have come to the realization that this product's problem is more glaring than Microsoft's slow-turn quality control: the Mad Cats MLG controller lacks aiming precision.

Before I dive into that, I want to make it clear that I gave this controller 3 weeks before coming to any absolute conclusions regarding performance performance because I don't believe different is bad. Different can be good, as long as it's different in a good way EVEN if it causes you to be worse initially due to the fact that you have to adjust something new.

However, my problems with this controller don't seem to fit this bill. With this controller, the thumbsticks accelerate to top speed with very little spacial movement. In other words, in an FPS game, if you want to move your aimer at a slow, steady speed rather than at top speed, a regular controller will give you literally more thumb movement space to achieve this steady, slow speed. With the Mad Catz controller, The spacial distance for slow-speed movements is much smaller than other controllers, meaning it will ramp up to full speed with less pressure, thus making it harder to achieve a slow, steady speed.

Another problem, which has been verified on "slow-turn checker" applications, is that the controller reaches 100% top speed before your thumbstick is pushed all the way to the side. This creates a very unnatural relationship between your finger movements and sensitivity on screen, especially if you have been playing with Microsoft controllers for a long time.

Ultimately, both these flaws make precision aiming in FPS games a nightmare ESPECIALLY if your body is used to the "spacial thumbstick distance:game sensitivity" ratio of Microsoft brand controllers.

On a final positive note, I still can't praise the build quality of this controller enough. From that standpoint, it is literally bar none. Rubber gripping is excellent, the build is very durable, and the module system works as advertised.

However, in terms of performance, it fails to meet the thumbstick precision standards of the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller. For that reason, I predict that once the initial release hype of this product dies down, the popularity of this controller in the competitive community will change to notoriety. I predict only a very small percentage (if any) of current professional Halo Reach players will choose to use this product over Microsoft controllers during the 2012 MLG Halo Reach season.

What do I recommend to you, the reader, who is contemplating buying this product? If you have $100 bucks to spend, give it a try, by all means. But DO NOT be afraid to return it back to Amazon when you notice that the aiming in FPS games seems unnatural. Amazon's return policy is very generous and hastle free.

Unless Mad Catz releases a firmware to change the "thumbstick movement:in-game sensitivity speed" ratio to be more precise, this product fails in a competitive environment and fails to be worth $100.

I've been waiting quite a while for this controller and I have to say I'm not at all disappointed.

The controllers' biggest selling point is the simple fact that you can customize it. For example my set up is a convex left joystick, the ps3 style d-pad, a concave right joystick, a single 35g weight and with the glossy face plate.

I simply enjoyed the feel of the controller. It feels natural in your hands, similar to the regular XBOX 360 controller except with the rubberized grips. When comparing the Pro Circuit to the Onza Razer (not including modifications) I find the Pro Circuit to feel most like the original controller. For me, while using the Onza, my trigger fingers would cramp up due to the slightly adjusted RT/LTs (which made room for second set of LB/RB buttons).

This controller will not make you better at playing video games, but what it does offer you, is the chance to customize the feel of your controller to your liking. Because If your like me and play video games frequently stuff like the d-pad or the height of the analog stick start to annoy you; The Pro Circuit controller allows me to play video games the way I want too with macro adjustments.

I think this controller will appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers alike. I know I simply enjoy it.

FYI: FPS Freeks does fit on the Pro Circuit

Honest reviews on Mad Catz Officially Licensed Major League Gaming Pro Circuit MLG

I bought this controller in January 2012 when it first came out, hoping that it would be the last 360 controller I would ever have to buy. The thumbsticks on all my other controllers are always the first things to wear out, and with this MLG controller, the thumbsticks can be easily replaced -that was the reason I bought it.

It's now April 2013, and the actual thumbsticks are still fine, but when playing a game, my view jerks all over the screen and the controller doesn't register the movements I'm making with the thumbstick. This happens with all four modules, so it's probably something to do with the metal connectors within the module bays of the controller or on the bottom of the modules themselves. I've tried cleaning the connectors with a cloth and blowing compressed air into the controller and the modules, but nothing seems to help. It's a miracle if the controller functions properly for more than five minutes.

There's a lot to like about the controller, but none of that matters when it doesn't function properly.

Do not buy this.

If you told me a few years ago that my video game controller of choice would be Mad Catz brand, I would have laughed in your face. However, things have changed and they now put a much larger emphasis on quality. This controller is by no means cheap, but once you use it, you see what your money is getting you. You get the controller, a set of two XBOX 360 style analog modules, a set of two PS3 style modules, and two sets of faceplates in matte and glossy respectively.

The pouch is a nice flourish, although I don't find it very useful--it holds the spare components and the glossy faceplates as I believe the matte style is much more aesthetically pleasing. Because of the ease in which you can swap out the analog sticks, I started using the PS3 style for my left hand and the XBOX 360 style for my right hand. So far it's been working out great and my FPS accuracy has gone up quite a bit.

My only complaint is that while the sturdiness of the controller and the cable is definitely there, some of the modules are a bit flimsy. The top of one of my PS3 analog modules broke off when I was locking it into place (you have to slide it into a groove and then twist), and I was not using much pressure at all. Thankfully, because of the layout I've chosen, I still have a functional controller that suits my preferred style. For $100 MSRP, I expect a little bit more, but it's still the controller I use almost daily, not only for my XBOX 360 but also when I play PC games. By the way, it works perfectly fine on my PC and I have yet to have one single issue with game compatibility or poor performance. I think that says a lot when you're using a peripheral in Windows.

The star I knocked off is for the flimsy module and the slightly below average Mad Catz customer support. They're often slow to respond and based on my experience with other Mad Catz products (Cyborg MMO7), I'd probably have to pay postage to send in the broken component and have it replaced, if that were even an option. Since it's been functional even with the broken component, I haven't actually contacted them for this product, although maybe I should.
