This is a quaint game geared for the younger set, but brimming with fun, but not too challenging puzzles. You control one of four characters from the movie in your group (Shrek, Princess Fiona, Gingerbread Man, and yes Donkey) and each has a special ability. Other characters join and leave your group as the game progresses (some new friends not even in the movie). You'll need each one's special ability to make it further through the games storyline. It's very gamer friendly (read, fun for kids), and you rarely die, just a 'do over' until you get it right. The camera controls get a bit awkward at times, forcing the player to zoom in to see the action. Also, the more linear environments get cramped and with 3 other characters helping you do battle, it can get confusingly chaotic. The game is spiced with many 'mini-games' (Hero Time) that feature one character that again, should appeal to the younger gamer. The voices are either the actors or dead-on imitations, so the dialog is snappy with plenty of humor presented in the movies. Aside from a few quirky camera controls and crowded fighting and the overall shortness of the game ... any little Shrek-head should have a good time with this.Tuesday, September 9, 2014
Reviews of Shrek 2 - Xbox
We bought this for my 6 y/o daughter to go with the X-Box we bought for Christmas. We have not owned a game system except for a game-boy since the original Nintendo came out. This game has been fun for us all. We all play at the same time, which makes for some family fun. My daughter is able to play some alone without getting too frustrated and does well when we all play. Personally I enjoy the comedic elements that have been well thought out. If you are a hard core gamer you will probably get bored of it quickly. It may not be as challenging as you like. We have gotten over half way through without a cheat book, which is amazing for most games.
