before placing my order for this controller i did a lot of research. i looked at video reviews and read online reviews about this product; and what it all came down to was the joy sticks. everyone said that it was difficult to aim when playing fps's. i play halo and CoD and i have to say i noticed what they were talking about. the sticks aren't as sensitive as Microsoft's controllers where just a slight push of the stick will move your reticle very slowly. this doesn't bother me. maybe i have to push the stick a little further but as long as you do it slowly there is no problem. i have zero problems sniping with this controller. i am also in LOVE with the active setting. the LEDs flash whenever the controller vibrates, so whenever you shoot or get shot. the lights indeed are bright but are not distracting at all. i give the PDP AfterGlow a solid 9/10

Well I got this controller because my batteries kept dieing while playing MW2 and this controller looked cool.

The feel was OK, looks were nice but there are some major issues. The joystick clicking is a lot harder and the bumpers are a bit awkward, neither of which had a huge impact on my decision to return it.

The main problem I had with this controller is the joystick sensitivity. And not the kind you can fix by changing the sensitivity in your game. The problem is when you try to move just a little to the left when your aiming down the site about to blast some poor guys head off... you move the joystick just a little and your sites don't move at all, WTF. So you move the joystick a little farther and it jumps to the other side of the guys head and now your back where you started but on the opposite side.

If you don't play FPS's. And the games you do play don't require you to move ever so slightly in any direction then this controller just might work. Or if you ever play against your friends on the same console you could let them use this one while you use a controller that works and destroy them. =P

The afterglow controller looks cool and has a cheaper price point but you end up paying for it. The buttons are great and the feel is too but the joysticks are terrible. The sensitivity is messed up and does not allow for precision, and no you can't fix it by adjusting your settings on the xbox. Save yourself the anger and spend the extra 10 bucks on an original.

Honest reviews on Afterglow AX.1 Controller for Xbox 360 - Purple

First off let me say, I've been reading the reviews for the past two days. Bad and good.

Yesterday, I set off to buy this controller from Gamestop and not Amazon "Because I feel the chance of getting it straight from the seller without it shipping and possibly getting a damaged or broken controller is very low".

So I asked the guy returns blah blah blah, I get a 30 day return policy via new accessories so just in case. I came home and took it out of the tough packaging "Yes it's tough, It's unstealable" and then plugged it in.

Let me say first that I'm no stranger to the Xbox controller, I've used the Xbox controller a good portion of the 7 years as well as the PlayStation controller. This Afterglow controller is roughly 10-15% smaller than the Original 360 controller. The "Select & Start" buttons are diagonal at the top of the controller above the big X. Second, I wasn't expecting it to be this bright, wow this sucker is bright.

The Controller*

--------------

The Controller.. Feels great, awesome resistance from the analogs and the buttons work fine as well as the D-Pad.

I first tried this off in a Emulator, worked fine with 0% issues. All buttons are hard and work excellent. However.. I put on Left 4 Dead 2 for the "Test" everyone has dreaded before they bought this, is the right analog really that horrible?!

To put it right, No. Honestly, it's completely fine. At first I had some trouble with it, it kinda feels like I'm using a One-Dimensional cross-hair, you go up, down, left, right. Feels as though you miss the entire 360 fully rotational analog we usually are use to. However, it seems after some test runs and re-calibrating the controller AND breaking it in, it seems to work alot better than out of the box. Is it great? No not at all, is it something you can use for FPS games? That's hard to answer, after using it for quite awhile the rotation got alot better. It could be fact you need to break in the rotation.

I bought this as a Pc Joystick replacement as my previous Joystick is about to bite the dust. I wanted something sleek, like an game console Joystick and in-expensive. This was my offer.

The Good*

--------

LED Lights, perfect for night gaming. "Can easily turn them off too"

Small, lightweight and a decent cord length.

Clear coating, easy to detect malfunctions etc.

Buttons work fantastic.

Plugs right in and you're ready to play, no software.

The Ugly*

--------

Right Analog stick could be better out of the box. "100% still playable though"

LED's are too bright sometimes.

Little too small for taste.

X "Guide" button is a knockoff. Maybe for legal reasons (Shrugs)?

Verdict?..

-------

Well, if you want a Pc Joystick and aren't strapped to the balls with Cash then this might work for you.

7.5/10, the right analogs knocks it off 2 points while being slightly over-small "For me" takes the 0.5. Maybe the analog will get better after some wear & tear. I didn't really buy it for New Generation games anyway. This was really a strictly bought Joystick for Emulators as the New Generation games are a bonus.

Should YOU get it?

-----------------

Depends on the person honestly, if you're a core gamer and you just enjoy playing game then this controller is most likely for you. I considered myself a relaxed gamer. If you're a hardcore "Underground" player (FPS) Mainly, then I'd probably skip this one unless the analog wouldn't bother you. For 32.47$ at Gamestop it's better than paying 59.99$ for an official controller. The LED's "Various Colors" to choose from, are really nice for nighttime gaming and the Small architecture "even though complained about" can fit in more places for cover.

It's up to you, a real review from a real gamer who wants to help other people out.

P.s. If you can buy this from a Local Best Buy or Gamestop, buy it from there. Just take assurance out that it should be working and didn't get banged around or mistreated where you bought it online.

Overall, its a good controller. It works well, and looks pretty cool, especially in the dark. The only big problems I have with it are; the xbox logo is a sticker, pretty lame. the d-pad is still a bit soft, but thats the case on all controllers it seems. The plastic case has a raised seam, and has cut my hands on just the first use, but thats fixable with a little sand-paper. All in all, its a good buy that will save you a lot of money on batteries, and last a good while.

Mad Catz Rock Band 3 Guitar Bundle - Red Hot Chili Peppers Bonus Review

Mad Catz Rock Band 3 Guitar Bundle - Red Hot Chili Peppers Bonus Tracks, Full Game, and Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller for Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

For $44.61 you get a wireless guitar, which usually goes for $60, and the Rock Band 3 game, which prices for around $30. If you already have the RB3 game, then you're in luck because you can sell it for around $30 and you basically pay only $15 for the guitar. If you don't have the RB3 game, then you're still in a win-win situation. Other online stores sell this bundle at its retail price, so Amazon is great for offering such an amazing price.

As for the actual guitar, it works great and is tons of fun to play. I usually play the drums, although I've been slowly saving up for more instruments. This is my third instrument (the other being the microphone), and it's great to just sit on my bed and rock out with the guitar. The drums can be a bit more involved, especially if you are sick, so the guitar is nice to relax with. Oddly, the box inside the box art says it's a Rock Band 2 guitar, but I checked the picture differences between the RB2 and RB3 guitar, and I definitely got the RB3 guitar, so you should too.

Otherwise, great deal, but if you're not sure, look around for more deals. Plenty of post-Christmas Rock Band bundles are out there, so check them out.

I overnight the product because i had some friends coming over for easter weekend and i had the guitar, drum set and microphone from beatles rockband... wow... It got here in time and what a great product, i was thinking to sell the game on amazon, because i have been playing rockband and lego rockband so i really didn't see the point to own another rockband game, well i was wrong... we had so much fun!!

Many moons ago when the earth was young, a small 16 year old me asked for Guitar Hero 4 for Christmas. I loved that game, I played it a lot and when I got rock band 1 and 2 I loved them even more. I played them all the time, me and my friends beat the living crap out of my peripherals until they all barely functioned. I've thrown my guitars at walls, both accidentally and on purpose. I've broken and resoldered every single drum pad multiple times. I've yanked my Xbox off many a shelf while trying to do a drunken mic stand flip, destroying several discs in the process. These controllers treated me extremely well over these long years.

That being said, my guitar strum bar doesn't function, my other guitar's star power tilty thingy doesn't work anymore. The drums are held together by hot glue and the hopes and dreams of a dying child I had imprisoned at an occult funeral I once attended. I needed something new.

Seeing as how guitar hero controllers are like 70 dollars a piece, I decided to break down and go for some official Rock Band gear to go with my cruddy broken stuff. This was a no brainier, it was in my price range, had Amazon Prime shipping, and came with Rock Band 3! A game I had wanted for SO LONG! So I bought it.

This is such a nice guitar! The buttons push down with a satisfying feeling. You can feel the switch depress. This feels so much nicer than guitar hero's mushy fret keys. Also, this has auto calibration which works on most systems. A couple times I've had to set Rock Band up with some wack surround sound system that isn't set up correctly and that resulted in me having to calibrate it manually, but in most cases it works great!

The major downside is to this guitar has the Rock Band mushy strum bar. Coming from guitar hero I'm used to a satisfying click to let me know when the button is depressed. Lining these clicks up with the beat of the song sets the tempo and without this I sucked. It takes some getting used to, but after a while I don't notice it as much.

Rock Band 3 is awesome. The menu system has been super upgraded and it has a real focus on multiplayer mode now. People can pop in and out of a song at will and controllers can come in and out, all without having to pause the game! The game has a more refined focus on the gameplay as opposed to the score, which is great! I played this game to have a good time with my friends, not to have some pompous Simon-Cowell-esque game tell me we sucked. Also there are the pro instruments! I bought the pro keys controller and let me tell you it is a LOT harder and a LOT more realistic and as a result it is a LOT more fun! Especially with the games newly found focus on making things easier and more fun! I love it.

----Conclusion--------------------------------------------

So, what I'm saying is, if you have the patience to get to this point in the review, BUY IT! If you want Rock Band 3, which you can't find in stores anymore because apparently it's been discontinued, BUY IT! If you need a new guitar because you broke yours trying to spin it around your body but the strap came off and you really just threw it against the wall behind you but nobody saw but everyone heard so you had to make up a story about you knocking something off of something else to appease them, BUY IT! If you also like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and also need rock band and a new guitar BUY IT! It's worth it, and you'll love it, and it'll love you and everything will be awesome....

I would have given this bundle a 5 out of 5, if my guitar lasted longer than one month before it stopped picking up my down-strums, my usual playing style. I'd love a new one sent to me, but it's probably a lost cause :/

This is a great pad, it does not move when playing and it works great with the Wii.

Orignially, was purchased for Disney DDR and Walk it out wii games. It worked great for the Disney DDR and our girls loved it until they tryed it with Walk it out. Unfortunely, it was not recogized by Walk it out game. It did slip and slide around on our hardwood floors too. I think it would be fine once they straighted out flat but it was not worth us keeping since it would not work for both games.

I bought this product as a second dance mat for DDR for the Wii. It is so much fun for the kids as well as the adults in the family to use. Set up was easy and it works as well as the mat that came with the DDR bundle.

Honest reviews on Wii Dance Pad

There should be information about compatibility for this product. It will not wok for the Walk It Out and that's the product I bought it for. I feel ripped off.

We recently bid and won a DDR game on ebay, unfortunately they failed to mention in the ad that the game came without the pad. So we quickly came to Amazon and ordered this generic. I expected it to be a piece of crud, but we were very happily surprised that it works just fine! My husband and I had a laugh riot trying to dance to DDR, we are both total clutzes. We did find that it slipped but that was easily remedied by putting it on top of a yoga mat. Problem solved!

For the price, this is an excellent faux ddr pad. Very happy with the purchase.

MOST MASCULINE OF THE AIR SKYLANDERS..WHEN HE MOVES... HIS BUFF BODY LEANS FORWARD WITH HIS CHEST PUFFED OUT.. HE SCREAMS "I'M SEXY AND I KNOW IT" Not really.. but he does say "TODAY"S FORECAST...ME"! He confidently floats SLOWLY around (not flying..can't go over water) and manages to kill a Drow Goliath (giant green guy with shields while pressing and holding the circle on PS3) WHICH ELECTRYFIES THE CLOUD THAT HE FLOATS ON ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY GET RID OF ANY OPPONENTS NEXT TO HIM... WHILE "STANDING" STILL. If your thumbs get tired or like to be a little lazy about the individual fights..He is a great choice..speed isn't his strong suit. At first his lightning bolt that he commands down from the sky isn't very strong or easy to maneuver. Over time the lightning bolt becomes stronger, longer lasting and more controllable. I currently have him upgraded to a LEVEL 7. When it comes to the "choose your path" level you can either increase his electric cloud abilities or increase his "Lord of Lightning" abilities.

CONSOLE STATS:Starting and Maximum

MAX HEALTH: 290 (max 580)

SPEED: 43 (max 91)

ARMOR: 18 (max 48)

CRITICAL HIT: 30 (max 80)

ELEMENTAL POWER: 25 (max 100)

I chose to increase the "Lord of Lightning" abilities for more of a long range target approach. I'm not sure that was the best way to go after seeing just how powerful his "Defensive Clouds" make him. Be sure to shoot a bolt at one of the sheep at the ruins..pretty funny..

In my opinion.. I currently have all of the Air figures..they are VERY STRONG as a group! I have all of the characters released except Wham-Shell. Initially the air figure I least liked was whirlwind, but after needing her to keep other players from dying before.. I have really grown to like her. She can also shoot up and over gates or platforms, unlike most of the other players. I LOVE ALL of the AIR characters and would have a hard time picking a favorite. Sonic has saved me in one of the Troll worlds where you have to move giant boulders around.. to get a hat and some treasure I believe..when it was stuck and couldn't get anyone else to get it unstuck..her sonic scream managed to work. Her babies make great spider bait (that sounds awful)..you throw the eggs in front and when they attack her babies.. It leaves you free to attack them while they are busy. Warnado looks like more of an up close attack strategy..and if the cloud path is chosen that would be Lightning Rods too (which looks like it may be his stronger path). Warnado can't fly in a traditional sense..more of a tornado/spinning "flight", but he can manage to eventually go over water which is helpful in a lot of areas..Currently he is around a 3 in experience..Warnado is a lot of fun and seems VERY powerful right out of the package which is surprising because according to his stats within the game his "Critical Hit" is his weakness. A strong critical hit hat takes care of that.. and it's pretty funny to see the choompies and other opposing forces sucked up into the spinning tornados. Lightning Rod can't fly or go over water.. The other two can.. So..there it is..you'll have to decide what strengths you need based on your collection and budget at $9.99 each retail.

I ordered this skylander and it came 2 days later and I just did standard shipping. But it is one of my favorite skylanders he is just so awesome from speed to strength. So I think if you play skylanders you should buy him for sure!

Packing came quickly and in tact. My son was very excited to finally get the last of the Spyro's Adventure characters!

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Lightning Rod

My oldest son, now 12, loved playing the very first PS2 game where Spyro was introduced, so it was little wonder his younger brother, now 7, showed an interest in Skylanders. He loves collecting all his favorite characters to see what they are capable of in the game; he lines them up in a row on his window ledge so he can admire all their unique characteristics. For someone who struggles to pay attention for long periods of time, this has been a wonderful way to stimulate his creativity and his problem-solving abilities.

This headset is very comfortable for me and looks like very cool.

there is no point to argue about bad point of this headset. love it.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Gaming headsets as well as the Skullcandy brand have a reputation among audiophiles to having poor sound quality. I don't claim to be an audiophile but as a point of comparison this headset sounds much better than the Turtle Beach XP400s I previously owned. The Turtle Beach had a "tinny" sound and a definite lack of bass. Turning on the bass boost modes caused distortion and crackling whenever there was any type of deep bass in movies. In comparison I love the bass on these. Its a nice full sound but not overwhelming. There have been several times where I have been using these late at night where I've had to remove them just to double check that my home theater system was muted.

Headset is pretty much plug and play for the PS3, PS4, and Xbox 360. There are a few settings you will need to change to get proper Dolby Headphones output but those are outlined in the quick starter guide. Virtual surround sound is great for online multiplayer shooters.

Comfort wise there was a slight break in period but I think that is the norm for most headsets. They will loosen up over time. Also, the cups are slightly smaller than some people might be used to. I find that comfort is always a YMMV type of thing due to differences in ear, head, etc. so buy somewhere with a good return policy as comfort can be a deal breaker.

I rated these 5 stars but the one thing that I would like Skullcandy to ditch is the analog joystick used to control audio and voice chat volume. Its a little awkward to use. I think a different control mechanism or completely separating the two controls would make this set pretty much perfect to me.

4.5 out of 5. Rounding up to 5 because I really love how these sound.

Best Deals for Skullcandy PLYR1 7.1 Surround Sound Wireless Gaming Headset, White

It looks like the Astro/Skullcandy marriage is producing talented children. These things are the best gaming headphones that I have ever used. Granted, I haven't tried the Astro A50's which I hear are the best. But I have used Tritons and Turtle Beaches in roughly the same cost and feature category as the PLYR 1's. The sound quality on the Tritons was similar, but the build quality was lacking. They just didn't hold up. The TB's didn't measure up in either category.

The PLYR 1's are very comfortable. Though I will mention that the earcups are smaller than normal. They fit my average size ears, but if you have big ears they might not be as comfortable. Then again, the memory foam and soft material make me think that there wouldn't be an uncomfortable position. They were a little tight fighting out of the box. I worried that they wouldn't be comfortable, but the cups are so soft that it never bothered me. After a couple of weeks, they are broken in and no longer feel too tight.

The simulated Dolby 7.1 really does help in FPS games. And the optical audio pass through is great for connecting the audio to my home theater system when I don't want to use the headset when watching a movie or whatever. Highly recommended.

Edit: I am now using these on my PS4, and they work great. Plug and play. They worked fine on my PS3 as well, and they should work on PC, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.

Honest reviews on Skullcandy PLYR1 7.1 Surround Sound Wireless Gaming Headset, White

This headset has great sound and is easy to use after you know what your doing. battery life seems good. I have no complaint about the microphone, everyone hears me loud and clear. I'm very picky with quality of sound and they sound pretty great, my only complaints is they hurt my ears, I don't know if that's because I am a 6'5 guy with bigger ears or head? The other complaint would be it hooks up to usb and I have the original ps3 so I have only usb ports on the front. That being said the usb cable is short so I cant put the wireless stand behind it.

Sounds great maybe it will feel more comfortable if I can break them in, I just wish these headphone companies could figure out a way to easier move between my receiver surround sound and heaphones without having to change settings.

I have had so much fun with this game with the insane tricks. I bought this and MX Super Fly and I think they are both Great Games. I would have to say that for people who are not into MX race games but like the tricks you saw at the X or Gravity games get this game. Man even my Girl Friend like to play this game.( Controls are pretty simple 4 top buttons are tricks One boost and one to accelerate) and the graphics are really clean. My favorite detail is when you crash you kick start the bike and you feel the bike go squirlly on you( love the Force Feedback controllers). This is Fun if you like the big air and Mad Tricks and do not care that it is not a sim. if you are in to a more sim racing go with MX SuperFly. Thats My two Cents.

This is a great game! Here are the pros: great graphics, cool tricks, real cyclers, it has codes, and you can't get bored of it. Here are the cons: it is really hard to become a freakstyle legend. Other than that the game ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But little kids can get kinda frustrated because they can't come in first. A great racer is Brian Deegan. Use the code "LOKSMITH", go to Brian Deegan, and then choose his last bike. Go to "Burn It Up" race track. You will probably win.

Honest reviews on Freekstyle - PlayStation 2

This game is much in the shadows of ssx, it has the same trick system, but has a new feel to it. You can get huge air with little effort on almost all of the ramps. There are fire circles in some spots that if you do a trick while you go through will give you extra points. The game is pretty hard and has nowhere to set the difficulty that i could find, i wouldnt reccomend it if you get frustrated very easy, you can go through a whole track perfect, screw up in the end and have a guy pass you in a second. I enjoyed the arcade sounding announcer. There are enough tricks here for it not too get old having to do tricks for boosts and such. The characters are typical for this type of game. One feature that i really enjoyed was the freekout mode. This is where after you do tons of tricks, you get super speedy with a blaze of fire on the back of your bike and get to continue your rage by doing even more tricks, this is very fun if you can keep your control. The graphics are not very great, but are probly worth a 7.5. All in all, this is a very fun game, just dont go into it expecting something as great as ssx, just something to play for an aftertaste.

This is NOT a certified Microsoft device. As Microsoft no longer produces a receiver of this type this is probably your best bet. The price is right (especially if you are a Prime member).

I'm running Win7 (x64) and there were a few hoops to jump through to get the receiver recognized, but if you follow the instructions provided by 'Win-7 64-bit' here in the reviews (which was cribbed from an answers.mircosoft post) it's a painless process.

If the disc that came with your receiver doesn't have the x64 folder (my disc was lacking it) you'd be well served to download and install the driver/software pack from Microsoft. Since links are blocked here simply search for "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows" and click-on the page titled "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows | Microsoft Hardware", select your system, download and install.

After installing the driver/software pack, you then need to follow the other set of instructions;

Overall this a cheap way to get an existing XBox 360 controller recognized and operating on a windows system. And for Win7 (x64) users this is the process that you have to do regardless of manufacturer of the receiver. So given the reality that Microsoft abandoned products of this type, this is next best thing and quite affordable to boot.

Alright, sure its not "genuine" or made by microsoft but for 13$... I can now play black ops on my pc like I did on the xbox.

Another thing, if your on windows 7 64bit, You have to point to go in the disc itself, and copy the "USB Driver" folder over from the disc, onto your desktop for ease. Now go into windows and install the drivers manually. Point it to C:\users\$USER\Desktop\USB DRIVER\Driver_64\win7

It should install successfully. Now if your on 32bit w7, then point it to the same but instead Driver_32. Hope this helps.

Sure it might be 3rd party and doesn't say "microsoft" but who cares.. it works fine.

Honest reviews on HDE Wireless Xbox Receiver 360 for PC

I've seen reviews for other "knock-off" products saying it would not work. When the device failed to auto install, I let Windows search for a solution. It took me to the Microsoft site where I downloaded the software for the "genuine" device, which works fine with this product.

Once that was loaded the controller would not connect. I opened the start menu, went to devices and printers, and clicked on the "unknown device". On the Hardware tab I hit Properties, and then clicked Change Settings in the window that popped up. In the Driver tab I hit update driver, and then "Browse My Computer for Driver Software". Then I hit Browse, and clicked on my DVD drive that had the driver disc in it. I hit next and a dialog popped up warning me the software was not from a verified source and could be harmful. I chose to install the driver anyway, and now everything connects and works properly.

Great price for a product that saves me from having to purchase a whole new controller that has a wireless receiver in it. I bought this to play Skyrim on PC since the updates will come faster and more often.

I've been using this receiver for about two months now with no problems. My computer is attached to a TV in the living room and I'm sitting on the sofa about 12 feet away with Xbox 360 controller in hand.

I got Syndrome mainly to unlock the vaults. He is rather slow when it comes to running. He isn't as agile and lithe as Violet and Mrs. Incredible. His moves include punching with an uppercut using his boosters. He can also equip Zero Point Energy, which is pretty neat. With the zero point energy, he can lift anyone and then catapult them into the air.

(The Incredibles can equip this superpower towards the end of the game right before the final showdown with Syndrome in the adventure mode. Once equipped, you can have access to the Zero Point Energy in the Toy Box mode.)

Do you need this Syndrome figure to defeat Syndrome in the final showdown?

No.

Buy Syndrome only if you want to open the vaults in order to access additional toys in the Toy Box mode.

Grandchildren requested this for their collection of infinity figures. It is the new trend for them. These are true to the movie.

My family plays this game and they were very glad to get this "villain" character. They were not interested in the multi-pack for the villains so this single pack was great. Thank you.

Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle Reviews

Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle

Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle This is a totally wonderful concept... but just falls short of the 5-star mark. First, I want to say that I LOVE that the background of the game has the actual videos for the songs... not some goofy cartoon characters "mouthing" the words, etc. However, as many reviewers have already pointed out, these are not the most "popular" songs produced by these artists, which makes it harder to sing along with them. The songs are NOT easy to sing, especially if you don't know the words/tunes beforehand. Also, we already own Boogie Superstar, which we LOVE... so thought this would be fun too, as in this game you can sing with two microphones as a duet/helping each other. However, the microphone that comes with THIS bundle is not very good... doesn't work as well as the Boogie Superstar microphone at all. Half the time, this Disney mic doesn't pick up your singing, so you end up "missing" the notes, meanwhile my daughter who is using the Superstar mic is getting great scores on the same song. Lastly, although the Superstar mic has a long cord on it that plugs into the Wii... the packaging on this Disney bundle led me to believe that the microphone here would be cordless... NOT SO! It also has a super long cord, which is just more tangle to deal with. :(

So between the sub-standard (and misleading picture above) microphone, and the more obscure song list included with this game, I can only rate it 3 stars instead of the 5 star potential it should have had. Again, I DO like the duet option and the music video backgrounds, but wish the interface with the people playing the game was a bit better thought-out/quality.

Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle is perfect for kids who love to sing along with the radio or music videos. My two granddaughters, 5 and 13, love it. It's something they can play by themselves, without adult assistance. In fact, they won't let the adults play! If you have older kids who are serious gamers, they would probably tire of this quickly, but it's great for youngsters (and their parents & grandparents) who are looking for something easy and fun!

This product is cool and can be a lot of fun. However, it gets boring pretty fast due to the songs. There are not that many songs and probably half of the songs I have never heard before. At this point there is no way to add new songs and singing the same song over and over is only fun for so long. Otherwise, great game.

Honest reviews on Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle

I bought this for my 13 yr old, and she is not familiar with many of the songs, but she does like it and she plays it sometimes. I think I should have gotten the original version instead of the pop hits. Also, my daughter wants myself and her grandmother to take turns with her, so I with they'd include a song that older people could relate to.

I love the layout of the game and the music with the background videos is great! Although it gets annoying that each video starts playing simply when you start scrolling down to see what offerings there are it burns me out on the tunes before I even click to sing them.

I don't like that the lead vocals cannot be turned off, meaning you are singing duet with the actual artist. While this can be helpful the first few times with a song you're unfamiliar with it gets annoying when you want to actually hear your voice singing the song. It's more of a sing-a-long than karaoke.

I like the voice bar that shows you in real time if your pitch matches the singer's. However, there is no explanation or meter to show if your harmonies are on or even how this is scored (even though it gives you a percentage at the end of the song). Without knowing anything else, it's impossible to improve (and no, it isn't listed in the manual).

The songs aren't well known, there were only 2 that I recognized off the bat. But, for the most part, they are really good songs just not well known ones. After a few times, you can pick up the song and enjoy it more.

Sometimes the words are the same color as the background making it really hard to read the line or next line and it takes a lot of talent to read the words, sing on pitch, and watch your voice bar all at once for songs you don't know.

I wish the microphone hooked up into the wii remote rather than requiring you to stand next to the wii console, plugged in.

Overall, it has room for improvement, but for a beginner karaoke (or even just someone who is looking to improve their pitch), it's a good game!

So, you liked Heavy Rain?

You loved the story and the gameplay, right?

You thought that even the simple tasks like changing the diaper was fun, right?

Don't lie.

Here's the thing about Beyond: Two Souls. The gameplay feels like a step backwards. You interact less so that the game can look more cinematic (that's the official excuse, more or less). For me, not only is there less for the player to do (there aren't even as many action scenes), but also, the new gameplay controls don't seem challenging. And that's just Jodie's controls. Aiden's have to be better, right? Well, they're definitely not more exciting than hers. Sure, they're definitely unique, but the problem I have with his controls is that it feels more limited than it should be. During the big stealth level, the game pretty much tells you exactly which enemies to take out and in what way. Aiden can choke or possess enemies, but instead of letting the player strategize which enemies to choke, which to possess, and which to leave alone, the game only gives you one way to interact with each enemy. If he is glowing red, you can choke him, but you cannot possess him. It gets silly when you see a lone enemy, but you can't choke him, or when you see a group of enemies, but you can't possess one to shoot the rest.

But, now that I have my gameplay rant out of the way, let me explain to you why I still rate this game highly and why I will still praise it:

1) The story and the acting are great.

2) The graphics are great and it is very cinematic.

3) While player decisions aren't as complex as you would hope, I was still quite impressed by the way the various endings are handled.

4) The game is accessible to those that don't play video games through either the easiest difficulty and a PS3 controller OR through a smartphone/tablet app that serves as a controller for those that are more used to casual, touch-screen gaming.

5) A local two-player co-operative mode is available.

So, why is my rating so high? I love good stories. I am a movie junkie. The only thing I like more is sharing my favorite stories with others. This game is perfect for that. After your first-run through (or during it), you can play it again with a friend or a family member or a significant other and experience their journey with them, even if they don't usually play video games. You can help them make decisions or let them choose everything on their own.

So, in conclusion, if you love experiencing and sharing stories, this game is probably for you. If you need to be first-person shooting Nazi-zombies or drive-by shooting hookers in order to be entertained or if you disliked Heavy Rain, stay far, far away. If you liked Heavy Rain, prepare to be slightly disappointed. In the end, just know that this game isn't for everyone, but, I will always consider it to be a cinematic masterpiece.

The so called experts and reviewers who gave this game anything less than top marks are the very same people who go see movies expecting to be disappointed and no matter how brilliant the film is, they only look for and talk about the flaws. So when trolls, whether on Amazon or (fill in the gameing website or magazine) say they don't like the controls, or this or that, pay them no mind, because they have lost sight of what makes this the most unique and innovative game created in many years. Beyond: Two Souls is the most amazing example of story telling ever displayed in a video game. Personally, I've been waiting a long time for a game developer to come along that is more interested in telling a good story than anything else. I know I'm not the only one either. I feel like there is so much opportunity to take gaming in this direction and satisfy a huge void that exists in the industry today. To me, the story is the most important and enjoyable part of the game. Don't get me wrong, I like pushing buttons too, but without good visuals and a belivable narative, it just seems like a waste of time. Not to belabor the point, but when I played Metal Gear Solid 4 GOTP, I would get sad when the 30 minute cut scenes ended because they were rich and deep and really developed and made you care for the characters.

Why do people start, but not finish so many games? Because they don't care about what happens next, or said another way, they get bored. I can assure you, that will not happen here. The story is for a mature audience. More because of the subject matter than because of violence and language. Children's minds aren't developed enough yet to comprehend many of the themes and emotions this game delivers. So parents, don't buy this for your 12 year old, it wasn't made for them, it was made for you.

I think I will buy two copies of this game just to support QD in hopes they continue to make and release content of this caliber. I sincerely encourage you if you have any capacity to think and feel to pick up this game and not think twice. Focus on and surrender to the story and you will not be disappointed.

David Cage and the fine folk at Quantic Dream have become known for creating unique and different games (and yes, they're games), however some people tend to love them and other people find it their mission in life to hate them. Whichever side of the fence you're on, it's undeniable that they offer something different from the status quo, and variety's never a bad thing, especially when it's this good.

Beyond, much like Quantic Dream's past games Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain, is a very cinematic game that marries both cinematics and gameplay so that the two aren't disjointed but interwoven. While you often have free control of the character, this isn't merely a quick-time event game like some claim, however they are an important aspect to the game. But I'm fine that this isn't a game like most games where you see an amazing cutscene that builds up the characters and shows the more mundane, perhaps emotional, moments in a character's life, while the actual gameplay sections interspersed between the cutscenes have you shooting guns and whatnot. Quantic Dream games have the player doing exciting things but also more mundane things that build the characters and makes you care for them since you're an active participant.

As for the graphics, they're the best this generation. There are a few texture oddities and whatnot, but it's overall the most impressive game I've seen this generation. The character models and animations are absolutely best in class. Some of the subtle animations of the characters make them feel like real human beings and not merely video game characters. Ellen Page and everyone else involved gave great performances.

Beyond: Two Souls is an emotional journey where you get to truly experience the roller coaster ride and not just watch it play out. If there's one game you play to finish out this console generation, please make it this one.

Honest reviews on BEYOND: Two Souls

Beyond: Two Souls is difficult to place. I am told it is a game, something that I play to derive enjoyment out of bashing buttons and defeating the enemy. But what I got was something entirely different. It tells the story of a strange young girl, Jodie, and her connection to a mysterious creature she calls Aiden. We are invited to try and solve the mystery of Jodie by experiencing a lifetime of memories. Told in Tarantino order, the game jumps about with little explanation, leaving us to try and piece together an arcing story to Jodie. In this way we are offered mystery upon mystery which unfolds into a satisfying whole as the game progresses.

But the term game is perhaps misleading, and already plenty of negative reviews are flooding in. Many are crying foul about a game that doesn't allow you to indulge your destructive tendencies at every corner. I suggest that these reviewers have missed the point of Beyond: Two Souls. Make no mistake, this is not a sandbox game. You are not granted the freedom to run around areas, to explore as you wish. You are gently guided along the story David Cage has set before us. Choices exist, but are meant to colour your experience rather than shape it. What kind of character Jodie displays is shaped by the player, but you find yourself carried along by the story.

The controls can be frustrating at times, due to sometimes enclosed areas, but Quantic Dream should be lauded for attempting to guide rather than show. Players are encouraged to show initiative, figure out what should be done and where and at what time. You are not spoon-fed the game, though it seems to be difficult to 'lose'. But this is a minor criticism of what is quite simply one of the greatest experiences I have ever enjoyed. Quite possibly Game of the Year.

I have never played a Castlevania game before, so I was hesitant to buy this at first. However, each trailer I saw for this game looked great and when I played the demo, it kinda reminded me of God of War 2 (one my most favorite games of all time), so I had to give this one a shot. After I finished it once, here is what I thought.

PROS.

SOLID AND FLAWLESS ACTION: The combat system in this game is just perfect. Last time I enjoyed punishing enemies was in Devil May Cry games. Everything works just as you want to. Controls respond very well. Tactical use of dark and light magic adds whole new dimension to the combat. Once you master the different moves, the joy you get punishing the enemies using them, is just indescribable.

SPECTACULAR SUSPENSEFUL STORY: It has been a while since I have experienced a story in the game that makes me go wow. While the game does starts out a bit abruptly, things will make sense in the end. Don't want to spoil much.

UNANITICIPATED AFTER CREDIT ENDING: If you are familiar with character names than you may see this after the credits ending I am talking about, but I sure as hell did not see it coming. I was very surprised by it and quite frankly could not get this ending (LONG VIDEO) out of my head for days. Don't want to spoil much, but please FINISH THE GAME, trust me, after the credits will make it worth your while.

BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION: This game will make you go through jungles, valley, barren towers, huge castles etc. etc. Frankly, they are very nicely designed and the game looks great in 720p.

GREAT VARIETY IN ENEMY: It has been a while I have seen SO MANY different types of enemies in the same game. Different types of werewolves, vampires, goblins, deads and other creatures I can't remember names of. All of these gothically designed. I am telling you artwork in this game is just magnificent.

RIDING HUGE ENEMIES GAMEPLAY: I personally loved it. Once you weaken huge enemies such as big warewolves, spiders etc, YOU CAN RIDE THEM. Use them to unleash devastating attacks, solve puzzle etc. etc. Truly remarkable.

TONS OF CHALLENGING BOSSES: Slaughtering hordes and hordes of enemies and moving forward in the game will reward you with some really compelling boss battles. Just like levels and small fry enemies, these bosses are also very aesthetically animated. To me boss battle was the third strongest aspect of the game (after story and art). As soon as I defeated a boss, I look forward to the next one. Such anticipation and mysterious story really drives you forward in this game.

ACROBATIC GAMEPLAY AND PUZZLES: If you like puzzles there are tons and tons of them in this game. If you don't like puzzles no worries. Spend your experience points and you don't have to solve them. HOW WONDERFUL IS THAT? I salute this game for providing that option. Genius! The acrobatic gameplay, which would be hanging from cliff, then jumping from cliff to cliff, is pretty good. Kind of like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time games. What I particularly found interesting was use of the chain to do acrobats. There points in the game you can jump off of cliffs, use chains to hang somewhere, use the momentum of chain to break through weak structures etc. You have to play it to get a feel for what I am saying.

UPGRADABLES AND HIDDEN ITEMS: In this game you can buy new combat moves and upgrade them by trading your experience. While most of the moves can be purchased through the first gameplay (assuming you don't trade experience for solving puzzles), to get all moves and all hidden items, you will have to play different chapters in the game over again.

TREMENDOUS REPLAYABILITY: The game itself is long enough. If you want to go for 100% of the items, it will even take longer since you will have to revisit chapters and use your upgrades. In addition it comes with 4 different difficulty levels and a minigame. This will keep you engage for a long while.

OH DID I MENTION FREE CASTLEVANIA SOT GAME WITH THIS GAME?

CONS.

MINOR ISSUES WITH PUZZLES: Honestly the only con I found in this game was I was too used to God of War 2 controls. Because of that I was stuck in puzzles such as clocktower puzzle. Fortunately I figured out the difference in controls and was able to solve the puzzle. An example: In clocktower puzzle, ever time I tried to raise a platform, it would rise halfway and then fall as my character would let go of the lever contrary to the fact that I was holding the button. THE KEY IS TO LET GO OF R2(or L2 whichever is to hold the lever) once you hold the lever. The character will hold it himself without you having to hold the button. Other than this I think some puzzles are a bit too challenging. But again every one of them is solvable and if not, YOU CAN ALWAYS SOLVE THEM BY TRADING EXPERIENCE.

CONCLUSION:

I frankly am quite impressed by this game. As listed above, Pros. easily outweighs Cons. My score for this game would be 9.5/10. God of War, Prince of Persia and Devil May Cry fans, THIS IS A MUST BUY. Only thing I recommend is play it on the hardest mode possible for those of who are veteran to God of War type of games.

Graphics:

Opening with some cut-scenes as many games do, I was slightly disappointed with the graphics. While for the most part they were beautiful, great scenery and fine details, there is a sub-par looking rendering of water, hair, cloth, and facial definition that took it down a couple of pegs. After putting several hours in with the game though I was greatly pleased to find that the actual gameplay is gorgeous. The environments are rich and imaginative, comparisons to Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth have been mentioned periodically to which I'd agree. For the most part many of the areas fit the feel of Castlevania despite a couple of stinkers, but if you took the more traditional Castlevania castle and simply spread its locations around then the better half of the game feels appropriate.

Sound:

Lords of Shadow has been knocked here and there for not feeling much like Castlevania, a sentiment I don't personally share at large, but I'd so far have to agree with in regards to the score.

The music is, as far as I can tell, high quality orchestrated music. My personal 'problem' lies in what I feel is a failure to maintain the heart of what Castlevania music was. There were no cheesy electric guitar symphonies, no eerie choir, and really not a lot of blood boiling music. The music never once stood up and demanded attention. There are most certainly songs recycled from the past but they have been re-tooled to what I would call a more generic sound. This will probably go both ways for fans of the series, some may appreciate the progression of the music, and others may find themselves waxing poetic about the good ol' days along with me.

The voice acting is good; you get typical Patrick Stewart along with some serviceable performances from everybody else. Generally you're only going to be dealing with it in cut-scenes and I think the storytelling there is good enough. Again I think the not-quite-right character models mar the delivery more than the actors themselves. There is however sporadic occurrences of NPCs nagging you through the levels which can be nerve grating when all you're trying to do is explore.

General:

The game unfolds in chapters and stages. Individual levels present themselves in different ways, some are longer combat areas, and some are really short with only a boss fight, and so on. Each individual level has a completion percentage which can ultimately be maxed out by playing the level on max difficulty, finding all of the hidden objects (which is tracked, nice), and completing a trial for that level. Out of the gate you can access 3/4 visible difficulties (don't know if there's any 'secret' difficulty) and switch them on the fly so as you progress and backtrack you can flesh out some of that completion if that tickles your fancy.

It took me roughly 15 hours to beat the game on normal with relatively minimal backtracking. I'd say I skipped probably ¼ 1/3 of various unlockables and skipped over the challenges entirely. I'm thinking I probably have 5-10 hours more of gameplay to get the missed items and probably much more than that in challenges. The game has its hairy moments on normal but a person looking for a challenge could probably start off on Knight difficulty without too much added frustration.

The camera can be highly problematic at times. Nine times out of ten it's going to be fine but in the one time when it isn't the frustration can be high. Some of the more minor things are a constant jitter to the camera and a poor correction to the analog controls as you switch areas but the single most irritating to me were enemies hanging out of your field of view. The enemies being out of view typically wasn't a problem but there were a couple of boss fights which forced me to play conservatively because of the camera which kind of took my head out of the fight. It's not game breaking, and turning on enemy life bars helps a lot, but it's certainly what I'd call a problem with the game.

Achieves/trophies aren't too crazy, basically finish the game 100% (or 110% as the games suggests). I personally have no desire to play on higher difficulties unless I uncover some incentive for doing so but it looks like even a normal play should be able to get the majority of them.

Combat:

The core of the combat is Gabriel's weapon, the combat cross which I'm just going to call a whip. With your whip you have direct attacks mapped to a button and area attacks to another which you can string together in various ways as you unlock combos to execute... er combos. It's very straight forward, a little button-mashy, but since the two attack types perform in very different situations you'll generally be methodically timing one or the other. Many of the combos manifest themselves in a situational sense such as direct attacking after a grab, charging an area attack, and so on. I feel this contributes greatly to avoiding an indiscriminate faceroll of the controller since most combos have a pretty particular use and using it is mainly a matter of timing and positioning.

In addition to Gabriel's whip you have secondary weapons and magic. All of the secondary weapons have a primary function but can also unlock additional abilities and combos. The magic is used sort of like combat states; you can hop in and out of light mode or dark mode provided you have enough energy to use attacks while in either. In their raw form light mode causes your attacks to heal you and dark mode causes your attacks to do more damage but their use doesn't end there. Each school has its own unlockable skills, which are quite powerful, but they can also be combined with certain secondary weapons. As an example you get fairies as a sub-weapon which serve as a distraction tool but when used in light magic mode they become seeking kamikaze fairies. The secondary weapons have limited uses and require occasional replenishment from kills and the environment. Your magical energy is replenished either from kills, fighting well and filling out your focus meter, or refilling at neutral energy wells. It's also worth noting that you can over-charge your magic up to an additional full bar but this bar will deplete itself over time regardless of whether you use it or not.

In addition to the magic and sub-weapons Gabriel gets a small handful of additional relics. Some of these also serve as weapons or lend more combat abilities but they have more nuanced uses and can be a little difficult to effectively use in combat at times. They generally grant you some very cool moves but I personally found it difficult to find much reason to use them over the whip but it was nice to have them available for situational opportunity.

Certain enemies also open up opportunities when weak to execute them via a simple button sequence while others can be ridden which is generally a progression tool. Riding a troll for example will let you smash walls, and you can certainly fight with it, but you're pretty caged in with the creatures you're allowed to ride making them have limited use as a mount. It's fun, it's there, but as I said it's mostly used as a tool to access new areas.

Platforming:

It's about what you'd expect I guess, lots of climbing and swinging. To me it feels mostly like a segue from one combat to another, which is fine because finding your way around is fun, but there doesn't really seem to be a lot of danger in doing it which adds to a sense of going through the motions. So far the majority of my failures in getting around have been to poorly defined barriers of where you can go or jumping in a pit because I didn't see a really obvious exit. Failing in the platforming isn't instant death, you just respawn at the last solid point you were on and take a bit of damage. Only if you repeatedly fail or find yourself low on life already will you actually die from a failed jump.

Periodically you will be fighting titans which are really big bosses done Shadow of the Colossus style. You enter these fights and you're tasked with scaling the creature and attacking specific weak points. One could almost consider the platforming before these guys to be practice of sorts. You'll be using all of your jumping/swinging/climbing skills in conjunction with quick time events to methodically disable the titan as you traverse its body. It's quite a bit of fun but again it feels more like a game of memory and less like there's any real risk of dying.

Story:

It wasn't New York Times Best Seller material but I was certainly engaged from start to finish and towards the end my desire to unfold the next chapter ramped up so I'd call it a success. The ending wasn't what I expected at all, and I'm still gathering my opinions on how I feel about it, but it will certainly have Castlevania fans talking I believe. Be sure watch through the credits (assuming there's an option to skip).

Pros:

Gorgeous gameplay

Good voice acting

Fun to play

Cons:

The camera can be weird at times

In closing I'm a big fan of Castlevania and I enjoyed the game a lot. It's a genre that doesn't find its way in to my house much but I had a blast playing this. If you're coming in to this game after having played the numerous similar games to come out this year it may be prudent to find a more discerning opinion on how this compares to other games in the genre but I assure you this was a very well done and fun game right out of the gate. I'd strongly recommend this game.

Best Deals for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

CONCEPT:

Lords of Shadow is a third-person action-adventure game.

You are Gabriel Belmont, a widower member of the Brotherhood of Light, an elite group of holy knights who protect and defend innocent people against the supernatural creatures.

3D Castlevania Reborn, although there are remnants of influences from modern 'hits', LOS sets itself apart with "classic" Castlevania mythology, powerups, enemies and plot.

GRAPHICS:

Richly detailed immersive environments, and meticulously designed enemies bring the 1047AD "end of days" era presented in the LOS to life. Some of the human characters aren't as well designed during certain cut scenes.

SOUND DESIGN:

Epic orchestral arrangements replace the old school castlevania tunes. The voice actors add a nice element too. Not really a lot of ambient noise within environments though...

CONTROLS:

The controls are quite simple and satisfying during combat... there are over 40 unlockable combos executed with various button tapping sequences.

ENTERTAINMENT:

The games first 2 chapters may start slow, but once it starts rolling it snow balls into a fury that is surely one of the most memorable endings in the franchises history if not from any game this year.

REPLAY VALUE:

High

With four difficulty settings (difficult can be an understatement), unlockable battle moves, multiple hidden power ups, and challenge "trials" for each of the 50 levels, LOS is loaded with hours of action beyond the playthrough.

OVERALL

Castlevania Lords of Shadow is a beautiful looking Rebirth for the castlevania franchise. This game is big, and playing it becomes more and more satisfying as the story progresses. I would've prefered to have some control over the camera angle, but overall the view is never entirely lost within the action.

FINAL RATING : 9/10

Honest reviews on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

I can't even begin to describe how excited I was when I saw this game was in production. It brought back many nostalgic emotions, as the Castlevania games were some of my favorites to play on Nintendo and even the Super Nintendo (Super Castlevania IV is one of my all-time favorite games!). All of that aside, I feel this game is good, but falls short of my expectations in the sense (as many people have argued), it doesn't really feel like a Castlevania game; primarily because of the score. To me, the music made the Castlevania games more engrossing and dimensional, but it is severely lacking here. Other criticisms I have are the controls and the camera angles. There are many instances in the game when being able to use the right joystick to adjust/move the camera would have been useful, but unfortunately, there is no mobility there and it can wear on you throughout the game, especially when you get caught behind an object and there is no way to get away from it. Often times, I found myself having to restart the game because I was stuck and couldn't do anything else. I didn't really care for all of the cut scenes and puzzle segments in the game, but they were tolerable. About halfway through the game, I found myself getting bored due to the monotonousness of all the button smashing.

There were certain elements of the game I thought were really wonderful such as the voice acting of Patrick Stewart and the graphics. I found the graphics to be some of the best I've seen on the Xbox360 to date. Without giving too much away, I also thought the cut scene sequence at the end of the game was great. I thought it was a pretty good ending to the game and it had me completely sitting on the edge of my chair the entire time.

Overall, this is a pretty good game but features quite a few unforgivebale flaws, especially the controls and camera angles aspect of it. It also feels quite similar to Ninja Gaiden II (on the Xbox360), the God of War series and Dante's Inferno, so if you enjoyed those games, chances are good you'll enjoy this as well.

This is my 8 year old son's favorite game. We enjoy racing against each other. Good variation in tracks and courses to play on. The soundtrack isn't bad. However, the graphics are very poor, especially considering this is on a PlayStation 3. The bystanders and background enviroments are extremely grainy and pixelated. Being a new game on the PS3, I had much higher expectations.

This is another game by RainBow Studios, who mastered the art of MX games with realistic physics. The graphics in this game are horrible, even on the PS3. On some tracks, when all the riders are grouped together, the game actually chokes and looks sluggish and choppy. My biggest complain about this game is it's arcade type style. It feels like you are riding / racing on the moon, with no gravity. Long gone are the realistic feelings of launching a 200lb motorcycle off a jump. Now we have a spongy feeling dirt bike which does not behave like the bikes in previous games, like MX Unleashed.

The game is fun, but at this point in time, they seem to have added a lot of fluff like trucks, cars, etc, and seem to drop the ball for those of us who want a competitive Motorcycle / ATV Simulation game.

My son had this when it first released, and it was lost. He was happy to receive it for his birthday. It was new in packaging, no scratches, arrived in time promised.
