I got Syndrome mainly to unlock the vaults. He is rather slow when it comes to running. He isn't as agile and lithe as Violet and Mrs. Incredible. His moves include punching with an uppercut using his boosters. He can also equip Zero Point Energy, which is pretty neat. With the zero point energy, he can lift anyone and then catapult them into the air.

(The Incredibles can equip this superpower towards the end of the game right before the final showdown with Syndrome in the adventure mode. Once equipped, you can have access to the Zero Point Energy in the Toy Box mode.)

Do you need this Syndrome figure to defeat Syndrome in the final showdown?

No.

Buy Syndrome only if you want to open the vaults in order to access additional toys in the Toy Box mode.
