If you enjoy cardio boxing and want to work up a sweat, then this Wii game is for you. After doing the basic lessons and moving on to the regular ones for only a couple of hours my arms and shoulders feel like I can't lift them anymore. I'm pretty sure I'll be sore tomorrow morning.

This is basically a cardio boxing game. The rest of the exercises are short games and workouts that are unlocked as you progress through boxing exercises. It looks like there are 6 regular ones and 4 that use the balance board. This is the extent of the balance board usage. None of the boxing exercises use the balance board. This is a little disappointing, but since you can't jump on the balance board it would be a little difficult to do the boxing footwork which is bouncy, without damaging the board. Still, I thought the description of the game was a little misleading since the use of the balance board is limited to leg raises, push ups and a couple exercises that are already included with the Wii Fit.

Still, I think this is a good addition to my Wii Exercise list because it's engaging and holds my interest and I like games where I can build up the score and compete against my past scores. Here are a list of the pros and cons that I've discovered so far:

Pros:

Choice of music. There are several different music choices that you can preview and play during your workouts.

Choice of settings. You can choose a gym, forest or seaside setting.

Lots of movement and easy to understand instructions.

You acquire points which you can use to buy things at the gym store, like different outfits.

You can pick your trainer (male or female) and there are several different training levels so you can play according to your abilities at a pace that is good for you.

Great response time on the controls and great sounds. "Pow! Crunch! Wham!" The movements and clicks of the Wiimote register right on. You can also click through scenery pans and other peripheral scenes to speed the game. (Thank you, UBI Soft!)

Cons:

The graphics are a little ragged on an HD TV with component cables and 480p settings. Wii HD Link Component Cable

They are also a little simplistic compared to other Wii games, not bad, just simplistic.

The balance board is used in only 4 of the side workouts, not in the main cardio boxing.

All in all, I still think it's a good addition to my Wii workout collection and it's one that's fun enough that it'll get used often. It's good arm and shoulder exercise that will compliment my We Cheer Wii game and a good way to work up a sweat without getting bored.

I actually got my copy a couple of days before it was supposed to be released from a video game store. It's mostly cardio boxing, although there are other exercises including Punch Dog, reverse sit-ups, back strengthening and squats that utilize the balance board. There are 4 other exercises that have to be unlocked as you progress through the game. (I just unlocked Jump Rope today, on my 4th day.) Gold points are earned to be spent in the Shop on gear, and additional items go on sale as you go.

After initial "registration", you choose your trainer, either Alex or Nina. Other trainers are unlocked as you progress. (I just unlocked Brenda.) Each day, you have a choice of doing a prepared workout or an ala carte workout. After the prepared workout, you get to leave a punch stamp on the calendar, indicating that you've completed that day's workout. There are Boxing Examinations you can take to test yourself.

As of yet, I haven't noticed the scale feature and I had to enter my weight manually when I first set up my profile. All in all, it's a great workoutmore interesting and interactive than Wii Fit (which I still love). I was sweating after about 5 minutes, and I'm STILL sore from my first workout! There's less jumping and hopping around than My Fitness Coach, which, with my bad knees, is a big plus. I look forward to unlocking more of the features of this game!

Update: 4/12/09I've unlocked a couple of the "Special" workouts in the Shape Boxing, but only done Dodging, which is really tricky because you have to throw punches at the same time! I've unlocked all the locked excercises in Exercise and they are "Roadwork" (running & boxing a bear that crosses your path), "Sandbag" (punching 10 sandbangs in the allotted 3 minutes), "Log Chopping" (using the remote to saw through a log in 3 minutes), and "Jump Rope". I've unlocked another trainer named Bob, who looks like the BIGGEST guy on Muscle Beach, and a two new outfits for the trainer I've chosen (Brenda), as well as a few new items that were given to me for reaching a X amount of punches. I'm still loving this game and have lost about 4 lbs since I've been playing it (along w/Weight Watchers). It's not hard on my bad knees and I feel the burn where I should.

Honest reviews on Gold's Gym Cardio Workout - Nintendo Wii

I've had this for a month now, and I have to say I've really enjoyed myself. I got bored with the Wii Fit within a few weeks; my biggest complaint that other than the Hula Hoop, nothing really gave me a good workout.

Can't say that for this "game." I've worked out every day, and look forward to getting on it first thing in the morning. I do the prepared workout, and every other day will supplement it with some a la carte shape boxing or exercises. I like my trainer, and the little rewards are nice eggs to work toward.

I drip like a sieve, and my muscles are sore. That's a good thing.

I like that you can pick three different levels in the prepared work out (light, regular, hardcore), or just do a la carte if you want more or less.

However (and there's always a however), there are some flaws.

1) Not everything registers. Be it squats, upper cuts, ducks, or dodges, sometimes you have to REALLY exaggerate your movements to get it to register. It's very frustrating to throw an uppercut and nothing happens, or to throw a punch and it registers a duck simultaneously when you're doing ducking combos.

2) As noted by others, it doesn't weigh you. Missed opportunity there by Ubisoft.

3) The English translations on screen ain't such be good done right. ;)

4) On the sandbag exercise, it's too easy to knock the bags out in 45 seconds. I haven't unlocked all of the elements of the game yet, so I'm hoping there's a "free" mode where you can do the side exercises for as long as you like.

5) Sometimes it doesn't register the "up" on squats. You have to really "bounce" (again, exaggerating motions) to get it to register, which takes away from the work out intent. I don't want to exaggerate my motions; I just want to work out and get my sweat on.

6) The "training" mode on the side exercises should be the default, and you unlock the "challenge" mode. Seems silly to challenge someone who hasn't even trained yet.

7) After a prepared work out routine, my trainer tells me that I really kicked butt (nice encouragement) and that I should try a harder work out next time. Um. You picked the work out, Alex, not me. Why don't YOU try a harder work out next time. Maybe in time it will get more difficult (although I'm not complaining. It's working me out as is!).

I know these sound like a lot of gripes, but they are minor compared to the overall positive impression of this game. It's a good work out, and I'm really enjoying myself. Beats a membership to one of the shape boxing gyms that are popping up all over the place. Seems to be ahead of that trend a bit, and is something you can do at home at your convenience.

Got it today and it may be considered too soon to give a fair review, but truth be told I've been duped. I was expecting a well rounded cardio workout but from start up you have to focus on boxing. Don't get me wrong, if they called it "Cardio Boxing" I would have understood, but I was hoping for something my wife and I can use. She has little or no interest in cardio boxing.

For myself I enjoyed the cardio boxing and I intend to use it as often as time allows. I was able to work up quite a sweat from it and I'm in pretty good shape to begin iwth.

They should have called it cardio boxing or something similar. In that case I would have judge it for what it is.

If you like cardio boxing and are looking for a different and fun workout, give this title a shot, but don't be fooled into thinking you are getting something you are not.

I have to admit when using two controllers, the boxing is challenging and fun. The boxing tips are authentic and I would even suggest this to amateur boxers or martial artists looking to hone their reflexes.

Review of Mad Catz Rock Band 3 Bass Bundle - Includes: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Mad Catz Rock Band 3 Bass Bundle - Includes: Red Hot Chili Peppers Bonus Tracks, Full Game, and Fender Precision Bass Guitar Controller Classic White for Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

This is my 3rd MadCatz Bass controller, the first two were the original wired versions, and both were defective. I ended up keeping the second one the defective switch was the start button, which until RB3 wasn't used much. Once the family moved to playing RB3, it ended up collecting dust and I used a standard guitar controller. I really missed having the dedicated controller, so when I saw a $40 price tag on this bundle, I grabbed one hoping for better luck and it paid off.

The wireless version (the one included in this bundle) is a second-generation version of the controller, and the build quality feels much better than the original the switches are all solid (the wired controller's were mushy) and the fret buttons are silent but responsive. The split strum bar takes some getting used to the feel of it is halfway between the "i can't tell when it's triggering" RB guitars and the "click-click-click) of the GH ones; it takes some getting used to before you get a good feel for it. The controller features native 360 wireless connectivity (no USB dongle needed like some other 3rd party controllers), and is a welcome improvement over the wired bass. The included strap is much nicer than the ones included with other instruments, but is shorter than the one included with the wired controllers and makes it a bit uncomfortable to use with the bass, since the bass is longer and is intended to be slung low and upstrummed with two fingers. I swapped the strap from my old bass, but it's something to keep in mind for new buyers you may want to visit a guitar store and pick up a longer strap.

The included copy of Rock Band 3 is a full version. If you are just now getting the game several years into the music game craze, you will enjoy it it's the last and best of the (now mostly dormant) genre. If you are upgrading from RB1/2, you'll appreciate the upgrades and extra songs. Most of the new DLC tracks released since RB3 have been RB3 exclusives, so you'll find a lot of new tracks to buy. Even thought he genre is pretty much dead, the Rock Band games are the only ones that my entire family still wanders in to play together when one of us plops it in the tray. It's also still a big hit at gatherings.

Lastly, the bonus track pack is great. 4 of the 5 songs included are among the Chili Pepper's best and most fun, and they pair up great with the bass controller. In fact, they are among the most fun and challenging bass tracks in the game beware the end sections of the songs if you play on hard or expert modes, they're killers.

As I said, I paid $40 for this bundle (I assume they are clearing out back stock) it was a steal at that price; I even got $15 of that back selling the spare copy of RB3 to GameStop. The price has since gone up, but even at $80 I would say it's a good deal if you like the game and want a good dedicated bass controller. If you still play and love the Rock Band games, go for it.

Works great! It came with some cheap batteries, but free is better than none. I have a few minor complaints, the button to remove the headstock is a bit too loose, and the "whammy bar" is too far away making it only available for long chords, the duel strum is strange but easy to get used to. Directional D-Pad works fine, and the dials for audio settings work. I am having some trouble activating via select dial but the start is instantly response. There also is a jiggling noise inside the bottom of the body, but it's common. Also there is only a switch for RB1 and RB2, however if you play RB3 change the dial to RB1. The box it came in was a bit dinged up but atleast it's the box. I also found it funny how the box it came in had printed on it "RB3 software not included" however it was. The strap that it came with is High Quality Fender strap, and the DLC code is nice however I already own all the RHCP songs. All around this was a great buy 10 of 10 must buy if you're a RockBand gamer...

I was hesitant to buy these after seeing reviews mentioning "riding up", "comes right off", and needing "permanent superglue" (yikes!), but I am really glad I gave them a try. Simply put, these things are great! I've had them on my 360 controllers for 2 weeks now, and I will never go back to the stock 360 thumbsticks. I haven't tried them on PS3 controllers yet, so my review is primarily for Xbox 360 use.

Installation: This was a breeze. Invert, place on top of the regular thumbstick, then flip the sides down.

Fit: VERY snug fit on my official 360 controllers. They never move during play (and no, I didn't use any superglue!) In fact, I just tried wildly flailing the sticks around and they still didn't move at all. I don't know why others had trouble I'm curious whether they used aftermarket controllers, or maybe pulled off the original stick coverings before putting these on.

Control/feel: Very comfortable and provides excellent control; precise movements seem easier to make. Each grip has a slightly raised surface with 16 tiny bumps for texture and friction. Also reduces concavity and covers up those 4 big uncomfortable bumps on the 360 sticks (I think those bumps are supposed to be for grip, but they just irritate the skin on my thumbs when I play.)

Overall: A hearty two thumb(stick)s up! Will it double your K/D ratio? Probably not, but for $5 you can hardly go wrong!

Pros:

+ Pleasing to the touch and comfortable to use

+ Gel material provides excellent control for precise movements

+ Fast & easy installation

+ Very snug fit on 360 thumbsticks

+ Reduces concavity and covers the uncomfortable bumps on stock 360 sticks

+ Package includes 2 (black) universal grips for Xbox/Playstation, plus 1 (blue) for the Wii nunchuck

+ Low price

Cons:

Seems to pick up grease from fingers easier than the stock thumbsticks, so keep them clean! (Maybe this is why some found them slippery?)

Clicking in the sticks takes a bit more effort because of the extra gel material

btw, neither are necessary

Best Deals for Gel Tabz Universal Silicon Grip

I bought a pack of these online elsewhere and it came with 3 grips, two black ones and a smaller blue one. The black ones are designed for the PS3 and 360 analog sticks while the blue is designed for the Wii Nunchuk (though all 3 can work on any analog stick I believe). The blue one is VERY good for the Nunchuk analog stick which only has one rib on it (unlike the ribbed GC analog stick). The blue Gel Tab has a lot of pronounced bumps which give it a good grip. The black ones are terrible. The bumps are fewer (despite being bigger) and not as raised. I actually found my thumbs slipping more than when I used the PS3 analog sticks without them. That pretty much defeats the purpose of them. I don't think they're necessary for the 360 controller since that has concave analog sticks. I haven't tried since the black ones on a Wii Nunchuk since the blue one is perfect for it.

I'd only recommend this if you really want a grip for your Wii Nunchuk.

Honest reviews on Gel Tabz Universal Silicon Grip

I was looking for something to go over the thumbsticks of my 360 controller since my 1 year old son decided to chew off the rubber that was on them. They're pretty easy to put on, they look great, feel great and the price was easy on the wallet. They cover up the exposed plastic on my thumbsticks and now I can play forza 3 without getting a callus on my thumb, and its much cheaper than going out and getting a new controller! I recommend them

Good unit. A bargain. A required accessory for anyone with an extensive/elaborate home theatre system. Good to have on hand when you run out of digital audio optical inputs on your receiver. Note: in the review section for this product, the amazon computer categorized this item as a "game", and asked me for the number of stars for "how much fun is this game?", and then for the number of stars for "how would you rate this game overall?". The system did not allow any way to proceed without assigning stars. I thus gave the "fun" category 0 stars, and the "overall" category 5 stars... the PRODUCT deserves it.

Best Deals for Toslink 3x1 Optical Audio Bi-Directional Switch + (4) 3ft Toslink

I got this to run my DirecTV, XBox and PS3 into my surround sound. It works exactly as it's supposed. The 3rd port is a little picky so you have to have the switch lined up perfectly. I'm not complaining as this is much easier than switching cords by hand behind the surround system. The cords that came with it seem to be good quality and I haven't noticed any less quality of sound.

Honest reviews on Toslink 3x1 Optical Audio Bi-Directional Switch + (4) 3ft Toslink

I've had this unit over a year now. It works great! Sometimes the lever that switches between sources can be a little tricky, just make sure it snaps in place. The cables it came with are still working with no issues. Good purchase.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Toslink 3x1 Optical Audio Bi-Directional Switch + (4) 3ft Toslink

I bought this as my TV doesn't have an optical output and my soundbar only has one optical input so I have to move wires between my PS3 and Apple TV. The cables don't fit in snugly to this switch and always feels as though they will disconnect. I wanted it for multiple inputs and one output as the switch is supposedly bi-directional. Only one of the 3 inputs even worked. If I moved the switch to the other two the switch didn't work. I am thankful I didn't spend more on it since it belongs in the trash.

Review of Rayman Raving Rabbids

Rayman Raving Rabbids
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
List Price: $9.99
Sale Price: $6.49
Today's Bonus: 35% Off
Buy Now

Rayman Raving Rabbids for the PC is not a platform adventure game like the previous games in the Rayman franchise, it is more like Mario Party in the sense that it consists entirely of mini games. So if you are looking for a platform adventure game, this may not be the right choice for you. However, if you don't mind trying something different, it is very likely that you will enjoy yourself.

The story of RRR is that you (Rayman) are captured by these creatures called Rabbids, and you are forced to complete 5 tasks each day in a sort of gladiator style arena. You can only save after you have completed each day, so if you have only completed half of the day's tasks, your progress will not be saved unless you beat the rest of the tasks in one sitting. Also, you cannot play any of the mini games in multiplayer until you have beaten the game in the Story mode. While this can be frustrating at first, it gives you incentive to beat the Story mode.

Some of the games themselves are not so great. Games where you have to tap buttons repeatedly or slam joysticks back and forth get really old really fast, and I have no desire to replay those games after I beat them in story mode.

Fortunately, most of the mini games are really fun to play, and on top of that, the Rabbids are absolutely hilarious. Ubisoft did a really good job making a creature that is consistantly funny and rarely annoying. I would recommend that you use a gamepad to play the games, because otherwise it may seem a little easy with the mouse and keyboard. Also, if you have multiple gamepads, you can play with friends in the Score mode, which is where this game really shines.

NOTE: If you have an Xbox 360 Controller, it works GREAT with this game, and Ubisoft is one of the first companies to truly support it. (It also works well in Rainbow Six Vegas on the PC) It also supports other Logitech controllers that I have.

The problem with this game is that it was designed for Nintendo Wii, and Ubisoft ported this version poorly to the PC. There are many bugs; some of which make the game unplayable. For example, when I ran this game on my computer, it would speed up and slow down randomly, making some of the mini games impossible. I was able to fix this bug by changing the power scheme on my laptop from "Portable/Laptop" to "Home/Office Desk" in the control panel. Once this was fixed, the game seems to work a lot better. It took a while for me to figure out how to fix it, I was required to search through forums online to figure out what to do to get it working.

The graphics are pretty good, but I couldn't get the game to run well on "Very Detailed" mode, which is strange because I have a top of the line Alienware system that should be able to run that mode.

All in all, Rayman Raving Rabbids is great fun and would be good not just for kids, but also for teens and adults too. If you can't tolerate fixing bugs, you may want to wait and see if a patch will be released concerning problems with the PC version. Otherwise, If you need a break from typical action, puzzle or adventure games, Rayman is a unique experience that will definitely give you a few laughs along the way.

PROS:

-Most mini games are fun and interesting

-Supports almost almost all gamepads (including Xbox 360 controller)

-Good fun with multiple people

-Rabbids are funny and rarely get old

CONS:

-Initial bugs are frustrating

-Some games really aren't fun

-Only a few of the games can be played with multiple people at once, most are turn-based

If you have a platform I would *STRONGLY* recommend you buy it for that instead of for XP. My first copy of the disk gave errors during the install (bad disk).

The second copy worked to install and then I had problems with jade enr.exe crashing on game start. Since on the Ubisoft forums 15000 other people viewed this topic before it was closed I'm sure this is quite common. I followed the instructions online (basically cracking my legally bought disk) to get it working.

I thought my problems were over until I started playing. The game can't do simple math. In several of the games it adds up the score wrong making it impossible to beat several of the games.

I've contacted Ubisoft several times and received nothing of use back. There is no mention of future patches to fix the problem or even anything to fix the issue. This is the last Ubisoft game I'll buy until they improve their quality.

Check out the forums at Ubisoft regarding this game. You'll see how many problems their are.

Best Deals for Rayman Raving Rabbids

you've got to love those "developmentally challenged" rabbids.....simple goal based levels that get progressively harder....run the story mode first, and set the mouse sensitivity for your own sanity (the default setting is a little loose)....chemical enhancement during game play doesn't help, makes some games slap nutz funny though......

Honest reviews on Rayman Raving Rabbids

This was great. My grandson really enjoyed this. I definitely would order another show again. It was very entertaining for my grandson.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Rayman Raving Rabbids

It has levels that are the exact same games only that get harder. So it feels a bit like watching paint dry after you go up 6 levels but it is still funny in a boy crude way (I'm a mom and I like it ;) ) but it just needed to be different on the way up. I have a little more than half to go and I gave up even after my 8 yr. old gave up on like level 4 because I got boring. I still think it's funny though but it gets played just after it has been a few months and I kind of forgot about it and I'm bored enough to make myself try to see if want to go farther. It's not even because it's too challenging it's just a slight boredom issue. It's pretty cute though so, ehhhhhh, tough call here. I certainly would have been mad if I didn't get it for dirt cheep but I got it for cheep enough.

Faceplates have come a long way for the 360's. This new mass effect faceplate looks great and is good quality. Personally, I loved the game and to me this was a perfect tribute to one of the best titles (if not the best) for the Xbox 360. I love the Xbox, but I don't like the light colored appearance of the console. Using the faceplate and skinz is a quick, easy way to upgrade the look of your console. The art is fantastic and the colors are rich and detailed. Good quality stickers for the sides can be installed easily. They don't rip and you can stick and remove for the perfect fit without losing the adhesiveness. This is a great product for lovers of Mass Effect.

If you're a Mass Effect fan, this is a must. The faceplate makes a regular Xbox 360 look great, but what really finishes it off is the skin that comes with the faceplate in the package. It fits the Xbox pretty closely, and coming from an Xbox 360 Elite owner, the black background helps to hide what the skin doesn't cover. I would wager to say that the regular white Xbox colors would show a little too much. In any case, its a fantastic accessory for any Mass Effect fanatic.

I picked up a copy of Backyard Sports Rookie Rush and was immediately drawn into it both from the standpoint of the gameplay as well as the level of fun I had playing it. Let's be clear--it is not like picking up a copy of Madden. It is far more basic. That said, you can still have a good time with it and have many hours of enjoyment before tiring of it and giving back to your kids to play.

The game itself is quite basic although by no means super easy. You are playing with your friends in neighborhood parks and backyards and it is just like going back to your youth albeit with probably a bit more scoring than I remember. The game has a limited number of plays on both offense and defense. On offense, you can choose to drop back and pass with about 5 options and you can run the ball a few different ways. On defense, it is about the same. You can drop back in coverage or you can rush. You can even audible which was a surprising addition to the game. What I don't like is that for each play you have to click through a bunch of different selections to choose your play. I think they could have come up with a bit of a faster way to do play selection. There are several game modes including Seasons and Tournaments. Accumulation of Xbox Live Achievements is not super hard. You can easily get about 300 or so achievements without much hard work. Overall a good and fun Xbox title.

Yep, I can remember back in the day when the Playstation just came out and this was the first game i got back when the PS1 games came in those bulky cardboard cases instead of the smaller jewel cases. Well, this game is still a blast to play after all these years and is easily one of my favorite games of all time. This one had all the perfect levels and the perfect balance of characters set in a darker tone than the other games had besides TM:Black of course. I liked how each level had some destructible environments as well as the inside cockpit view in the cars. The stories for each of the characters were all interesting and made you want to play through with each character. Overall, this is a great game that will have you playing for quite a while and while your at it, check out TM2 which is an amazing game as well. You should especially check this one out if your a newer fan to the series and want to see the games roots.

This is the very first twisted metal game to come out and i loved it. It is different than the rest of them but it is still fun to play. It has the original people and tracks to go to so if u have played any of the other twisted metal games u will reconize most of these people. It is very hard to beat because it is the first game and it took a long time to get used to. The graphics well this is the first one, its on the ps1, and it is a very old game so yes they r not very good. It is all blocky and the cars move in weird directions. This is a great game on multiplayer though, there r many different things to do unstead of just battleing each other. After u beat the game a couple of times it is easy to play and beat ur friends at it. This is a very fun but challenging game.

This is game is a true classic for the PS1! I had to buy it again just so I could play it on my PS3 as well as the rest of the Twisted Metal Games! Cannot wait until the new release in February!

Honest reviews on Twisted Metal

When I first played this game (seven years ago) I instantly got hooked. Twisted Metal was the first of its kind. No one had ever heard of a car game where you drive around blowing your computer opponents away. Even though the gameplay was drawling as you did the same thing for level after level after level, no one cared. That's how great this game was (and still is). Twisted Metal gave the world of gaming a new insight. It started this chain reaction that just could not be stopped. The characters are awesome and the gameplay is phenomenal.

Bottom Line: Twisted Metal rocks!!!!!!!

Twisted Metal 1 Not the best game that I've played, but its pretty cool. Great for first time Twisted Metal gamers. After you've defeated it a few times and can beat your friends at it, move up a notch to TM2, which I think is the best of the all. You might not, though.

Bottom line is that if you are just starting to play the Twisted Metals, I would start with Twisted Metal 1.
