I've been pumped about this game for a while. I loved the first DiRT, liked the second DiRT, and the third, so far, is everything that I expected it to be. The menu layout and overall feel of the game is a lot better than DiRT 2 in my opinion. DiRT 2 focused too much on the "cool" factor and rallicross, rather than actual rally racing. While I like it, it's not what I wanted in a game. The cars in this game do not disappoint, from classics to new. While rally racing in general has felt a little boring to me lately (WRC has lacked in the variation of cars, IMO), the level of detail afforded to this project is amazing.

The damage model, weather, environment, and car details are by far superior to the past two games. If you enjoy racing games, you will love this. If you enjoy rally racing, you will love this. If you enjoy mudding and making cars dirty, you will love this. If you have a 2-year old child who likes to eat Cheerios, you will love this. Essentially, anyone who enjoys controlling a vehicle in any capacity cannot help but love this game.

Side note: I am still at the early stages of playing this game, so bugs and issues may come up. I will report and alter review if anything dictates a change. For now, the options seem to make this game work well for any gamer level. I look forward to finishing the career mode.

This is how a racing game should be made. Instead of pretty cut scene videos being passed as the gaming experience, DiRT has always relied on making a game that works well to sell more copies. This is NO Shift 2, Hot Pursuit 2, or any other huge let down of a racing game.

*UPDATE* 5/31/2011 After playing the game for a while, I'm still really enjoying it. I am going to bring the star rating down to a 4-star on account of Dirt 3 falling into the whole "drift" phase of racing games. This annoys me because while I enjoy drifting and having fun, they make it crazy difficult for people to achieve the medals. I can hit gold after MANY attempts, but platinum... just insane. Anyway, drifting is judged, it's not racing. They should just make a drifting game so I can stay away from it. It doesn't take away too much from the game except that I now know there are achievements I will NOT be able to get. Also, the rally racing is a little disappointing. While I like the way the cars handle and the overall feel of the game, the rally races are all like 1-2 miles long, which isn't much fun. I miss the good old days of the huge hill clibs and multi-mile rally races. It seems like in this day and age, DiRT 3 is no exception to this shortage of content to come out with games, leaving too much room for a full priced release to have DLC in the future. 4-stars now for making a great game that is still lacking.

Dirt is back and this time, its back with a vengeance. Dirt 2 showed up a couple years back to dazzle us with the mainstream, flashy bigtime rally feel, leaving Dirt1's essential based, hardcore hill climbs behind. Dirt 3 tries to take it up a notch by taking what worked in both games and intermingling them. Does it work? Lets find out.

First of all this review is highly in depth, if you want to know the jist of things, i'll have a small section at the end for you guys, (use "find" Ctrl + F in your browser and type in: "Wrap up" without quotes to get a summary.) Now with that out of the way, we can review this bad boy.

Dirt 3 relies on extreme simplicity, and in a way this is great, the simplicity applies to its racing, and its approach to menus. With that said, Dirt 3 also does some amazing things despite this, because despite its simplistic features and driving arcadey style, it grows on you very quickly. Before I get ahead of myself, lets just stick with the menus for a bit.

MENUS:

Gone is the trailer, while I liked the trailer, it was slow, dirt 3 prides itself on navigating menus quickly, there's career, options, my dirt etc. all at the main menu, move up and down and you're all set to go. Before you get to the menu, be sure to put in your online activation code to unlock youtube, 5 cars and more bonus stuff like playing online, after that, you put in your name, your spoken name, (code masters is still one of the only companies that allows you to select an actual spoken version of your name or nickname) and your youtube credentials. This will allow you to directly apply things from races to youtube. Cause a 8 car massacre or just kick some royal butt and you can upload it straight to the internet. Yay, now all your friends can see how awesome you are, or how much you suck. Now, the menu is a lot like dirt 1, its a spacious nothingness with floating text, that gives way to floating triangles (pyramids) When you select these, they open up into four events, the three satellite triangles from left to right to top, unlock (in that order) based on points earned in events, selecting a triangle, opens up its list of events shown in right facing rhombuses, that describe the events, select the event, select your car, and you're good to go. This entire process is streamlined and will take if you're rushing a good 10-20 seconds. (main menu to race load) When you've beaten all of the races in a triangle, it will turn gold, and its on to the next triangle. When you've earned enough points, the middle triangle will open, this is the finale of the Pyramid, race it to finish off the Pyramid to turn the whole thing gold. From here on out other Pyramids may appear as you progress, but this menu is easy to get, easy to navigate, fast and easy to use. The one minor gripe I Have is livery selection. When you want to change the look of your vehicles, you have to do it in My DiRT > Garage > select class > Car to change > highlight livery to use > View car. It's a bit irritating but its not horribly detracting. The menu before the race is straightforward as well, speaks for itself and pretty much doesn't need much of anything, its good, it works. Moving on.

LOADS:

Loads in this game are infrequent really, the menu doesn't have any lag and the load to a race uninstalled takes about 20 seconds. The visuals for the load are nice, showing the car you'll be using, but aside from that, its a bit bland, only showing the same foreign beige space the menu resides in. The loads aren't excessively cumbersome, and are completely nonexistent on chosen menu reload during race (choose restart race). Its instant back to the starting grid. However this does not happen if you complete a race and then choose restart, as it will return you to the staging area where you can set up your car. This offers a bit of load, but nowhere near the time it took to initially load the race.

GRAPHICS:

On this 360 console, Dirt 3 as a whole is a wonderfully put together game, the scenery looks very real, the dust, damage, snow, cars, and lighting are all very highly detailed, with minor jaggies throughout. Mostly the shadows in particular. The colors are rich, the bloom is relatively low, (take a look back to dirt one to compare) and the game plays wonderfully. I have had a few hiccups, but I have not had any serious frame rate slowing. Dust, crashes, bits flying off, and several cars on screen does not seem to bother the xbox's graphics or processing units enough to lag the picture. Great job, its immersive and looks excellent.

CONTROLS:

Handbrake has been switched back to B. If you're wondering why the Handbrake doesn't work, that's why. Odd choice going back to dirt 1 control scheme, but I guess its not too bad. Most companies use A for handbrake but its not a problem. Change views with RB, go with RT Stop with LT. Turn with Joy L. Simple controls, easy to use. Joy R can be used to pivot the camera in any direction (useful in cockpit) and Y can be used to look back.

SOUNDS:

Sounds in this game are great, the car's interaction with the road on every surface is wonderfully portrayed and mixed, the engine notes are top notch and both co-drivers are great on either setting The soundtrack has been scaled back top be less "In-your-face" than Dirt 2 as well, sporting a large number of songs and musical genres, but only playing them basically when replays are being shown. This in my opinion settles things down in the menu and keeps things feeling more serious than an arcade romp through the woods. The mood here is one of focus and coming into a race, and the music and tone is good at conveying that. However, the game feels less fast paced and fun this way, but its a trade off. The main problem here is the voice talent. You talk to a guy, your team manager, and your mechanic. I like the mechanic, he's pretty down to earth, gets ticked if you ding your car up a lot, but conversely is very happy when you don't. The manager is okay, she has that "I'm acting feel" to her voice but its fine. Its the last guy I have issues with. The guy is hyper happy, always positive and says amigo and a few other chosen names in the Spanish language. None of it sounds realistic, none of it really makes sense, it seems very 90's or earlier, and its feels out of place in a game like this. I want to punch myself when he talks. But its a small gripe at best, aside from that single blemish, this game's sound is truly spectacular.

DRIVING

Finally! okay sorry for making you wait, here we go. Dirt 3's driving is great, its not a Sim like GT of Forza, but its not really Need for Speed arcade either, if anything its kind of like Need for Speed Shift, if you could take shift 2's driving style and make it work right. Dirt 3 has a very easy to pick up style of play, and on low difficulty settings is very easy to drive and play with. However, on advanced, this game's totally different, the car is harder to handle with no assists, can be wrecked (this must be turned on in difficulty) every corner turns into a battle, its you and machine vs. the course, and in rally, that's all that it should be. Cars are in general pretty tight and get a little more loose around what I like to call their sweet spots. When a car hits its sweet spot, it will require very little coaxing to turn it or keep it straight, Faster or slower than this area and the car will become either much more loose or tight than you are used to it being, and thus may cause you to crash, but don't fret, if you do there is always this:

Flashback returns: Just like in Dirt 2, you can rewind the race to "flashback" to before you made a mistake. If you do this, you're docked a bit of EXP for using a flashback and get to start from there. Penalty and reward, right there in a nutshell for you. Obviously as you progress in your career, you get to use faster and faster cars, and get better and better deals. Dirt 3 drives like a champ, the controls allow for a wonderful almost sim like experiance on the hardest difficulty like dirt one provided, while still allowing a lot of easiness if you need it like Dirt 2 did. The driving is best when assists are off, but it will get frustrating at times, so don't be ashamed to turn down the AI if you need to. Turning in and out works like it should, drifting works better than it should but hey its fun, and cars take a lot more mechanical damage in dirt 3 than they do in 2, meaning that bump might have been well, bad. Dirt 1's damage model makes a stronger return, becoming considerably more unforgiving with damage but still not quite as hard to oversome as Dirt 1, 3, does allow for extensive damage to engine components, Suspension as well. Tires can be popped, making you ride on rim, and cars can still be drivable, but, "well, you're not winning with them" damaged.n Every aspect of the driving in Dirt 1 and 2 has been mixed and refined, to the point its pretty much perfect for the type of game it is.

LENGTH:

From what I can see, Dirt 3 will last a week or more playing intermittently, but I'm sure I haven't played enough to unlock all of the events, and has a lot of features that will keep you playing, But as it stands, Dirt 3 should last a while and should be worth the current price.

PACING:

Dirt3 doesn't move too quickly, but its doesn't move at a snail pace either. The events are kind of short in the beginning but they do get a bit longer as you go, as with any racing game. To further point out things, Dirt 3 has added a "fun mode" which is basically the X games with vehicles, Gymkhana. Donuts, drifting, smashing stuff, burnouts, jumps, you name it. It breaks the monotony of Dirt 3 if it wears on you, otherwise, its just fun crap to do. Dirt 3 doesn't wear itself out, and that's an impressive feat. Keeping you playing for that length of time at the same level of happiness is always a good thing.

MULTIPLAYER

As a whole, multiplayer by codemasters pretty much stays the same, its dedicated server, its fast, fun and awesome, and as always its completely community driven. Some minor changes were made however, Jam session isn't race by race anymore, and runs for several before coming back, but playing ranked is about the same. Multiplayer runs well for the ones I played, no lag problems. One thing I miss is voting. One great addition, Couch battles. Yeah SPLIT SCREEN. As everyone axes it, go head to head with your buddy while everybody else on every other game has to go online to do it.

REWARDS AND UNLOCKS

This is where things might get sketchy for you, you don't buy cars in this game, they unlock by livery, basically meaning that you can't use certain vehicles until you have unlocked their first livery, every time you gain EXP, you gain more towards your next driver level, when you level up, you gain more opportunities with more companies, the better companies you unlock, the better and harder missions in race to beat for EXP become. Basically as you level up you earn more vehicles and liveries. In past dirt games you bought them. In many ways this is intuitive, but in many ways this is a poor choice. You can't specifically target certain vehicles, if you like the Fiat Punto Grande Super 2000 and plan on using it online all of the time, you can't buy your favorite livery for it to use. You have to reach a certain level for it to unlock, AND you don't know what any liveries look like in the future either. In addition the game doesn't like you to play favorites. When you play a a freshly unlocked car or livery, that livery or car's team will give you more exp to do a challenge than a previously obtained one at a lower level. Netting 200 EXP for doing 91 MPH on a track vs 400 or more for the same thing. Sure your ride looks cooler riding faves, but you level less quickly. In my opinion, this was a very poor choice, though it makes sense, it just makes the game feel less personalized, like you have to play it their way. But what balances this out, is multiplayer, playing in multiplayer earns EXP towards one driver level, yep the career and online driver levels are integrated, and therefore using your faves is okay because in a few short races, you've earned back all you missed in career mode by using your favorite Castrol sponsored Celica versus the kicker one. Makes you happy.

WRAP UP

DIRT 3 is a good length, great paced game with quite a few unlocks, it also boasts great sound, and great driving gameplay, while looking wonderful with virtually no graphical issues to speak of. It does have some annoying voice acting and a minor-ly problematic unlock scheme, but all in all its fast fun for single player, online multiplayer or even multiplayer in the living room. Dirt 3 has it all, and takes the best from Dirt 1 and 2 and intermingles it for one awesome rally experience that everyone can take a piece from and enjoy, whether they're first time racers, sim racers, arcade racers or just chewing on the controller enjoying the vibration function, Dirt 3 has something everyone can enjoy. Five stars.

Best Deals for Dirt 3 - Xbox 360

First, a little background on myself; racing games are all I play. I have been playing racing games since I was a kid, everything from the original Driver and Grand Turismo titles to my previous all time favorites, Richard Burns Rally(PC) and Forza 3(Xbox360). I play with a MadCatz wireless wheel because I'm not about to dish out $300+... In real life I am involved in the local rally community and am currently building a road course STi, so I know a little bit about how cars should behave on gravel and tarmac surfaces.

I have to admit that I never bought the previous two Dirt titles based solely on customer reviews. I haven't been able to play an arcade racer since I was 14, the physics and goofy gameplay turn me off where the expert physics of Forza 3 can keep my tuning and racing for hours on end. While Dirt 3 may still have its arcade-style (keep in mind, I don't even like European-style rally-x in real life) races to please the younger crowd, the stage rallies ooze realism and clearly have a lot of effort put into the physics engine. I'm hooked!

~Pros~

Near RBR-quality stage rally simulation for the Xbox360!!

Awesome car selection; race everything from the same cars you seen on WRC stages to classic stage rally car legends, even the trophy/stadium trucks are a hoot!

Track selection; I'm not that far along in the game, but I've already been blown away by the rally stages...lots of effort to detail here! Nice cambered corners, ditches to hook, power poles in trouble spots, realistic crests, etc.

Huge event range; stage rally, European-style rally-x, drifting, gymkhana, trophy truck racing, etc. I haven't even tried playing online yet...

Graphics; looks and runs great on my 50" TV.

Menu soundtrack; love it or hate it, but if you're a dubstep/modern techno fan you'll enjoy the menu music.

Car tuneabilty; gear ratios, shock damping, ride height, differentials, and brake bias are adjustable and actually make a huge difference on-stage.

~Cons~

Some arcade-style gameplay during circuit races, many early rally-x races are won by avoiding the monstrous pile-up caused by all the AI racers ramming each other into the corner. Tapping other cars doesn't seem to have much of an effect on them, but when they tap you it is fairly hard to maintain control.

Graphics; this is a SLIGHT complaint! If you catch the guy in front of you on stage, the dust he kicks up is pretty splotchy and makes it hard to see (in real life the dust gets crazy, so it's not like you'd be able to see any better...). The helmet cam is a good idea, but for some reason feels "off" compared to the hood view, it's just a little too distracting. Maybe if I "remove" the avatar hanging from the rear view and give it another try I will like it more.

Most cars are fairly hard to drive out of the box, which might make for a few low ratings. Hint: turn down your steering sensitivity, run the differentials fairly loose, and move the brake bias forward. Gravel and snow are hard to drive on in real life, do everything smaller and further in advance than on tarmac, use the brakes and the car's weight to turn the car.

I wish the cars were more tunable... They were right to have the car setup locked (all cars are already built to perfection), but I would have liked to see a tuning system closer to Forza where I could alter my alignment geometry and tire pressure...

Why the heck didn't RallyAmerica hop on this?!? I would have loved to see more American rally stages in this game!

I just hope they release more games like this so that America can catch rally fever instead of the JDM-Y0 drift insanity that has been going around lately...

5/5, if you like racing games, buy this now! I had to go to 3 different Best Buy locations to find this one on the shelf during Memorial Day weekend.

Honest reviews on Dirt 3 - Xbox 360

First, some perspective so you can judge if my review is relevant to your gaming interests. I have a Fanatec GT2 wheel with ClupSport pedals which I use on both my PS3 and Xbox 360. I cannot drive a car using a joystick, never could and never wanted to. I'm looking for immersion and, with the right game and sitting in front of my 65" TV with surround sound, I can experience it. The most important thing to me is that I feel the cars respond accurately to my wheel input. Of the games I've played: Dirt controlled terribly with my previous wheel (Logitech DFGT); Dirt 2 once I adjusted to the feel of off-road racing, felt great with both the DFGT and GT2; Need for Speed Shift and Shift Unleashed these games are seriously flawed as I could never get them dialed in with either wheel, even after updates; F1 2010 controlled beautifully with DFGT (alas, I found F1 racing not to my tastes but the game was great technically by my standards); Gran Turismo 5 handled spot on with DFGT and just the slightest issues with GT2; Forza 3 hands down, the best driving experience I've ever had. When in cockpit view, the hands on the wheel of the car move in unison with my hands and the cars respond as I would expect them to. When I reached 100% completion I had over 124 hours of driving time in the game (never hired a driver).

I have never raced a car in my life and the only off-roading I've done was in my Jeep CJ5 and Wrangler, which were low-speed experiences. I don't get hung up on whether the game is a true simulation as I have no clue what racing, on track or off-road, really feels like. If the game feels like what I think it would feel to drive a 2008 Nissan #23 XANAVI NISMO GT-R (probably my favorite fast car in Forza 3 it just tracks so beautifully) or a 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero Dakar (a fun vehicle from Dirt 2 competitive in spite of its age and size), then it works for me, pure and simple.

Technical I drive with no assists in Dirt 3, as in Dirt 2. I'm not a great driver and I do use the lowest AI difficulty settings but I want to feel the track as it was designed and judge the speed of the curves without a suggested drive/braking line. I use the automatic transmission simply because, as immersive as the experience may be, I've never developed a feel for shifting a virtual car like I have for a real car. I also do not use flashbacks. If I spin out that's part of the experience so I get myself back on the road and keep going. I use the hood view as it provides me the best view of the road (in Forza 3 I alternate between hood view and cockpit view depending on the car I'm driving).

Review for Xbox 360 if you have a Fanatec wheel you will find countless game and wheel settings online to try. I truly believe that the optimum settings vary with each driver so I won't list mine, unless there's some demand for them. What's important is that, with some trial and error, I have found settings that work for me. As my son said of Dirt 2, what you're striving for is controlled chaos and I'm just about there now. I work harder in race at controlling cars in Dirt 3 than Forza 3 but then I'm racing off-road rather than circuit race tracks. The best comparison is when I'm on tarmac in Dirt 3. The cars float just a smidgeon more than I'd like but I don't know if that's a controller-tuning issue or what's to be expected when you take an off-road vehicle and put it on pavement at high speed (my Jeeps would never win any awards for road handling). So, with one and a half hours of actual driving time invested so far, I find the cars sufficiently controllable to satisfy my standards, although I'm still playing with the game's wheel weight setting; my upper back was aching last night from the tension of steering the cars over multiple runs.

Does it meet my expectation of what driving a car fast off-road would feel like? A resounding yes! Again, it may not be a true simulation but that doesn't matter to me. When I race I feel the adrenaline pump and there's a smile on my face. I usually know when I've had a good run and when I've been a bit too sloppy. It's as real as I need it to be and, most importantly, it's F-U-N.

I rarely watch replays in Forza 3 but in Dirt 3, as in Dirt 2, I frequently do. The graphics are equal to the best I've seen (I don't game on a PC so I can't compare to that platform) and the action lends itself to viewing multiple times. In the middle of a rally run you may not realize how much air you caught coming over that hill but in replay you can just enjoy the view. I've impressed myself on more than one occasion. :-) The only thing missing is the ability to save a full run for playback but if it's important to me I just capture a replay with my digital camera. Not perfect but it works.

I had read online reviews about the menu interface and brought an open mind to the game. I can now say, although I don't know exactly why, that I like it. In the abstract, the idea of triangles floating on screen sounds a bit bizarre but it works for me. I won't say it's terribly intuitive but I like the aesthetics of it. I do miss the table in my RV from Dirt 2 that laid out the world but change is good, right? As for the music, I generally turn off music in all my games but, go figure, I like it in Dirt 3. Until I don't I'll keep it playing.

As for load times, which some online reviews have complained about, have they ever played Forza 3? I can take a bathroom break while a Forza race is loading and I never had an issue with it. Dirt 3 races load faster than Forza 3 races.

I love that they've eliminated money and purchasing of cars. Perhaps I got burned out with GT5 and its 1,000+ cars but I really like that I don't have to think about that. Just let me get in a car and drive. As for liveries, it's all good. I generally don't play around with those. I dabbled in detailing in Forza 3 but aside from changing the body color now and then it was nothing I had much interest in.

Some online reviews say that there is always an optimum car to select for each race which means there are cars you'll never drive. That's not how I approach the game. This is my hobby. I'm in no hurry to rush through the game or shorten the experience in any way. When I'm presented with four cars for an event (each with different bonus objectives, btw) I start from the left and race each car until I place 1st with each one. Not only does that allow me to experience each vehicle but it allows me to learn each course a bit better with each run. And I continue to level up in the process. Unlike Dirt 2, it doesn't appear that a race's XP decreases with multiple runs, though I may be wrong about that.

I have not gotten to gymkhana events yet. On the surface, it does not appeal to me (I've never been much for drifting in Forza 3 or GT5) but I'm open to it and will give it a try. Good or bad, I don't anticipate my reaction to it impacting my review. Rally racing is what I enjoy most and Codemasters has nailed that for me.

As stated earlier, Forza 3 has provided me the best overall driving experience and I look forward to Forza 4 (if head tracking pans out I will probably get a Kinect just for that) but for unadulterated fun I have to go with the Dirt series, of which Dirt 3 is the best so far. Everyone's tastes are different so it can be risky to recommend a game to countless unknown readers. I can only hope that my review helps you judge for yourself whether Dirt 3 is worth the purchase price. For me it definitely was.

Happy racing!

Update: I'm not sure if load times are less than Forza but Codemasters breaks them up by offering different views of cars and landscapes rather than have you staring at a static screen with a progress icon spinning. That makes the wait seem less even if it isn't.

A reviewer laments the shortness of the races but I actually consider that a plus. In Forza, once you hit the 6-race events, races average 12 to 14 minutes each so you're looking at well over an hour to complete an event. In my busy, hectic life, I like being able to complete a race event in 4 or 5 minutes. But, if Dirt 3 proves similar to Dirt 2, later seasons will have more races in each event so the time commitment will increase.

Raced on snow for the first time. I was pleased that it felt much more realistic than GT5's snow racing, which is terrible. I live in the snow belt and drive a Subaru on snow-covered roads. It really isn't that bad if you have the right setup. Heck, we plow lakes and race around in circles on the ice.

Although I miss the in-race banter of Dirt 2 (driving can get lonely at times) I do like the fact that when I hit a car in a Rally Cross event, I don't have to listen to an angry driver telling me I'm going to pay for that.

Dropped my wheel weight from 50 to 30 and it made a big difference. I'm very happy with the controls right now.

Dirt 3 is the perfect balance between realism and fun. Sometimes I'm whispering "I'm amazing" to myself as I slide around a tight corner, considering buying a rally car because I swear I'm gifted. As long as I don't look at the time trial leader board, I can keep thinking that.

The rallying itself is a bit of a less-is-more ordeal. It's true there are a lot more stages, but you do repeat a lot of portions in different ways. However, the varied weather, time of day, and car handling make up for it. The sheer terror of Group B at night is wholly different from the calm Sunday afternoon drive of a 60s Mini.

The other events are nicely mixed in with the standout being gymkhana. I was not looking forward to 'Tony Hawk's Rally' but it's not like that. Gymkhana events are quite enjoyably varied but the best is the DC Battersea compound, which is basically a playground in which to completely destroy your car. Yes, it's awfully childish, and that's exactly what makes it so entertaining. You'll spend 20 minutes in there and have no idea where the time went. (I'll tell you: you spent it jumping, rolling, flipping, spinning, crashing, drifting, and flying into the river.)

I could go on about what it does better than the previous Dirt or Colin McRae games, or express a lament or two about what I miss from older games, but I won't. Rally is great. Gymkhana is great. Everything else is good enough. I don't regret my purchase and I probably won't stop playing it until Dirt 4 comes along.

I know a lot of players are looking beyond DiRT Showdown and not really interested in it as it moves further away from the days of Colin McRae and more X-Games. This game isn't a rally game though, instead it is more like Destruction Derby and while it has the DiRT name it is a spin off for the franchise and not a true sequel to DiRT3.

Positives

Graphically it looks like DiRT 3 and even shares some of the same courses. So the game runs smoothly and you'll likely know some of the tracks already

Multiplayer is where most fun can be had although the rounds feel pretty short at times.

The addition of Racenet adds an extra level of interaction with the game and is a welcome addition.

Negatives

The game uses a rubber banding system so you can never get too far ahead which is find in normal racing games but when the game involves crashing into your opponent like this it can result in some race loses that feel "cheap" as they catch you on the last lap and spin you out.

The connection has some hiccups and you'll fail to connect to Racenet or will drop from a multiplayer session

The distribution in North America was 2 weeks after Europe. This meant European players played and moved on which can sometimes leave the Multiplayer rooms a little bit empty at certain times of the day.

They made some achievements only possible if people on your friends list buy the game too, so if you are an achievement hunter be sure to buy two copies, one for you and one for a friend.

Let me start off by saying I am a HUGE fan of the DiRT series, and also, an achievement hunter. I have 1000/1000 in the first and second DiRT, and the full 1250 in DiRT 3. I like achievements, and I enjoyed playing the games. In short, DiRT Show Down just sucks. But rather than be a negative nancy, I'll list the positives first -

-Great graphics

-Great refined graphics and game play. It's a well polished series that works well.

The down sides

-Rubber band racing. If you don't know what this is, it's when the CPU adjusts its speed according to you. Say for example in a race, a "beginner" lap time would be 1:30, "intermediate" would be 1:15, and "expert" would be 1:00. If you have the difficulty set on beginner, you can run 1:00 lap times and the CPU will still be right on your tail. Why is this just a HUGE downside? Well, it's annoying. Two, here's a way you always, always win. Just sand bag the race until the last lap, then just use the boost on the last lap in the last couple of corners and pass everybody and win the race. Seriously? Why would you try to achieve the best lap times if the CPU will be right on your tail anyways?

-The game was made for kids with ADD. Seriously. I'm surprised I've never had a seizure yet from the explosions in the game. This game would make the movie series "The Expendables" blush. There's fireworks, exhaust flames, and random stuff exploding... ALL the time. I haven't driven more than 15 seconds without seeing some kind of flames or explosions. Cute for about the first two minutes, then just extremely irritating.

-No in dash camera view. Seriously?

85% of the maps are from Dirt 3. Again...seriously? can't even create new ones? How lazy have they gotten?

-They spelled "synchronizing" wrong in the loading menu when you play multi-player. I noticed this the very first time. How in the heck did this go unseen? Well, I'm really not that surprised.

-No option for manual transmission. Again, seriously? I LOVED DiRT 3's multiplayer "hardcore" mode, where it was fixed interior view only, manual transmission, no driving aids, etc.

-No option for map view.

-Zero skill needed for races. Just hold down RT (Throttle) and go.

-Random freezes. My xbox won't lock up all the way, but it will freeze every 15 minutes or so for about 15 seconds, then suddenly will resume game play like normal like nothing happened. Never had this issue in the previous DiRT series.

-All cars now sound the same. There was very distinct differences between the Subaru's, Mitsubishi's, etc. Not anymore. All bland. All sound the same. And, of course, all shoot ginormous flames. There's one car that shoots these ungodly bright white flames every time it shifts. Extremely irritating...kind of like the rest of the game.

If you think I'm too hard on this game, I challenge you to try to find a multiplayer game, then compare it to DiRT 2 or DiRT 3. There's more people playing the older games...what does that tell you?

This is NOT rally racing and it's nothing like the previous Dirt games. That being said, it's not a bad thing! There is awesome variety to this game. Most of the game involves balls-out, no holds barred full contact automotive competition. No, there is no simple Destruction Derby here. There is more to it than that. There is circuit track racing where you try to win at all costs, using whatever tactics you can muster. There is "8 ball" a variation of figure eight racing where the track might have several intersections to cross paths with other racers. There are demo derby type games, one where you must simply survive the onslaught of other cars all trying to take you out. The longer you survive, the better your ranking. There is also demo derby types that involve scoring points depending on how hard and where you hit your opponents. Another one that involves a "sumo" type platform where you can only score points while demo'ing on the platform. Another competition is "eliminator" where every 15 seconds, the last place car on the track gets eliminated from the race. Very challenging in that it requires you to stay out of last place for as long as possible and the eliminated cars simply stall out on the track, creating an additional obstacle and challenge. Towards the end of the race, you have to dodge 5 or 6 busted cars parked on the track. Then it takes a different tact by throwing in some gymkhana style competitions that require more precision and finesse (and a steeper learning curve). You can also try a "joy ride" mode where you can simply drive around an area filled with jumps and other obstacles while scoring and performing certain tricks to gain access to additional areas. While this is not a sequel to Dirt 3, it is a great new game and getting it here on Amazon saved me more than half the cost of buying it anywhere else. After playing this game for one evening, I am very happy with my purchase. If your a rally purist, maybe you won't like this. But I am an all-around racing game fan and this is a great one.

Honest reviews on DiRT Showdown - Xbox 360

Bought this about the time I was getting past Dirt 3, and into Forza 4. Held my interest for about a day. Not as good as Dirt 2 or 3, lots of smash-'em-up rallycross and demo derbies. Like Burnout on an enclosed track. Could have been an add-on to any rally game. Typical of Codemasters' M.O.: "According to Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens, future games could be sold incomplete at retail, with mandatory downloadable content required to get the remainder of your newly purchased title.". That was 2010, and this was released years later--you do the math. A shame. One of racing games' brightest stars dimmed by crass commercialism and greed. Everything before this: GRID, Dirt 1, 2, 3, F1 2010 and 2011: all brilliant. But Dirt 3 really started to show signs of this new "incomplete" business. Good luck to you Codies, I'll have no truck with you or your wares now.

The MW3-branded Foxtrot is nothing more than re-packaged PX21 by Turtle Beach. The PX21 is also a universal headset (Xbox360, PS3, PC), despite being labeled as "PS3 headset" on Amazon. This is a good headset, and pretty easy to setup and use, but unless you're really into the MW3 logos and green coloring, save yourself $40 and get the Turtle Beach PX21's. Same exact thing. The PX21 would get 4 stars for being above average headsets at a good price. The MW3 Foxtrot loses a star just because it does the same and costs more.

After going through several stock Microsoft headsets, I finally decided to get something a bit more durable what I ended up getting is the Limited Edition Turtle Beach MW3 Foxtrot Headset.

Out of the box, I was pretty quickly satisfied with the design and the feel of it. It's well-made, yet lightweight. Hook-up is also quite simple, but if you need instructions, they're there for you. As this thing is wired, it doesn't take batteries; it simply plugs into one of the USB ports on your 360.(I recommend the one in the back, just because. Well. It's in the back.)

On the cord, there's a little box that allows you to adjust game sound, chat sound, toggle mute, adjust bass, and this thing that says "Expander" ... I'm ignorant as to what this thing is supposed to be, all I know is that when you turn it to on, you get a bit more static than when it's off, doing nothing from what I can tell other than lowering the audio quality. There's also a little 360 controller on the box, which is where you plug in the little included adapter cord, so you can talk to people over Xbox LIVE.

It's really quite incredible what a solid headset does for you how much it changes the game. You really have to hear it to believe it. While this isn't the absolute best headset on the market, or the cheapest, it's not too bad at the price of about $100. While this headset doesn't have Dolby 7.1, it has "amplified stereo," as well as an awesome thing I mentioned above the bass boost. This thing makes the headset all-the-more worth it. Turn this up, and any game you're playing instantly becomes better. In Call of Duty or Battlefield, every shot you fire from your gun rattles your eardrums ever-so nicely, as does a nice big explosion. Perhaps even better, is using this headset while playing Rock Band or the good ol' defunct DJ Hero never has the music sounded so good. And of course, the bass just makes it better.

Another thing that's included with the Foxtrot Headset is "chat boost." The chat boost is a built-in thing that is supposed to adjust the volume in the people you're talking to's voice, to the sound in-game. While this is great in theory, I've had issues with it. While playing Modern Warfare 3, I had the game volume about 3/4 of the way up, and chat at half way. Seemingly randomly, the chat would suddenly get incredibly loud, so I'd turn it down. After doing so, it was so quiet, I couldn't hear anybody to talk. I had to do this over and over again, and it resulted in quite a bit of frustration. What I have noticed is that the lower your bass boost, the less likely this will happen. Regardless, it seems unavoidable if you're chatting with people, and it can be either a minor annoyance, or an ear-bleeding hell of an experience.

So... would I recommend this headset? Yes. Are there other and better, cheaper options? Yes. The main reason why I really prefer this headset to other Turtle Beaches, is that it just looks nice with its sleek design. I should also let you know that even though this says it's a Modern Warfare 3 headset, the only spot you can really sense that it's a Call of Duty headset is on the box on the cord, where it says Call of Duty MW3, and on the top of the headset itself, where it has Call of Duty pressed in. Overall, it's just aesthetically pleasing all-around, and the audio quality isn't too shabby either.

+: That brand new "out of the box" smell, solid sound quality, bass boost, looks pretty cool.

-: Cord is pretty freakishly long, the chat boost has its issues, may not be the best option for the price it is shop around first.

UPDATE 2/29/12: Well, after a little under two months of owning this headset, it randomly broke without warning. I put it on one day, and I was just getting cutting-in-and-out sound from both sides of the headphones. I had to go down to Best Buy to return them. Unfortunately, they don't sell these there anymore, so I settled with the X12's. While I really loved how this headset looked, sounded, and felt, I can't give it a 4 when it's as fragile as this is. Also, in case you're thinking I'm just one unlucky person, one of my friends had the same exact thing happen to him just a few days later. Due to the lack of durability, I now give the Foxtrot Headset a...

i'd say it was a good buy although the only reason i am happy is because i got $10 off because i preordered the hardened edition of the game. if you really want the headset and dont care whether it has the MW3 logos on it go buy th PX21 headset from turtlebeach, itll save you some money. (same headset without the MW3 logo/colorscheme)

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Call of Duty: MW3 Ear Force Foxtrot Limited Edition

First off, I say a decent buy because the Foxtrot's are basically re-skinned PX-21's with Call of Duty stamped in the headband. You can save yourself $20 or $30 if you can live without the Call of Duty edition. Also the left ear has started going out, it'll crackle and sometimes completely cut off the audio. For this I recommend the wireless ones.

I never imagined surround sound making THAT big of a difference in game quality and my play performance. These are considered the low-end turtle beaches, I can't even fathom what the $300 sets sound like. The bass boost basically amplifies footsteps of enemies. I can hear them at least 20 feet away and react by the time they round the corner. Even if people are camping, I can hear them reloading. With this headset, everyone is an easy target. Battlefield is no different, you can run but you can't hide. Turtle Beaches are just sick in general. Assassin's Creed Revalations I can hear people two or three buildings over and hunt them down with ease. Need for Speed and Forza I can distinguish which side they are trying to pass me on and cut in front.

The mic is great too. Crystal clear but loud as hell. Put it away from your face a good bit and don't yell. You don't wanna make your teammates' ears bleed.

I got these for $59.99 new from amazon. Fast shipping as always. I had to get a wired set of headphones because I was having trouble with the more expensive wireless sets causing interference. I didnt particularly want mw3 px21's which is what they basically are. But these were cheaper than the px21's and newer with a few new features.

They are very fragile especially the wire going from the left ear cup to the mini remote amp. So be aware of it and use the clip so it doesn't tug. Anyway it sounds great with my ps3. Haven't tried it with Xbox or pc.

Overall great deal!!

this game was good on psx, it got better on dreamcast

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This is the best Dreamcast game. Ever. Period.

Everything about this game is superbly done....graphics, playability, control....unbelievable.

The PSX version (never played it) was good from what I heard, so at the time I had just gotten a Dreamcast and I noticed this game was out for it....so I picked it up and i was instantly sucked in to the world of Nosgoth. You don't believe me, just get to the edge of the pit Raziel was thrown into in the opening cinema and look down. Unreal!!!

Not only does this game look good, but it plays like a dream....no quibbles whatsoever about the control, except the occasional mess-up trying to claw into blocks trying to move them around. Actually, if this game had a flawthat would be the only one....the tedious nature of the many blocks puzzles....especially in the level with those dad-gum white spider enemies....!

The difficulty of the game is right up there too....nothing to turn your nose up at, you have to be on your toes.

As for the length of the game? Depending on if you try to get all the glyphs and health pieces....expect to take upwards of 25 hours to beat this game. I'm a perfectionist, so the first time through this one I took a good 35 hours....

Overall, 10 out of 10. I rarely give a perfect score....so this is definitely one game you can't pass up on....and now for less than 10 bucks, it sure is a steal!

I originally bought this for my son thats 11 years old. My daughter thats 6 also enjoys playing Club Penguin. All of us have memberships with Club Penguin. This is something we have played for years (I believe 4 or 5 years). I found Club Penguin to be one of the most kid friendly games, that is not too kiddy that the older ones wont play. We got this game on release day and the whole family is playing it. If you play story mode you can beat all 4 team colors to get coins and earn stamps. Once you have played all 4 team colors and beat each of the 4 teams, you have beat story mode. You can pick easy, normal or hard modes. Which makes it great for all ages. The coins and stamps will easily, transfer to your Club Penguin Account online. The games are challenging enough to keep you interested in the game. There are some other party type games that are just too easy or too hard for the family. This fits us perfect for the different ages. Even if you don't have a online Club Penguin membership this will be fun. The one and only complaint I have about this game is you can only transfer 2,000 coins per day to your online Club Penguin Account. I think if you earn it you should be able to transfer all of it when you want. This game is much better than the DS versions of Club Penguin.

Just a note to connect to your online account you need Wifi set up on your Wii. If you have more than one child that wants to play please make sure you have enough remotes for them. They can play all together or separately. Keep in mind if you don't have Club Penguin Online you can get a free membership. So you can transfer your stamps and coins to it too. Of course you will not be able to do all the member activities but it will still be fun to waddle around. As an adult I found this game fun to play with the kids.

This game is probably a lot better than most of the bargain priced Wii games out there. I wouldn't recommend paying more than twenty dollars for it though. The game mostly consists of playing the same few mini games over and over again. You have to have a club penguin account on the website and your Wii connected to the internet to make full use of this game. You can create a club penguin website account for free, you don't have to be a member to use this game. Its pretty much a waste if you don't do those 2 things as there really isn't any point to playing the game if you don't have a club penguin website account. Its basically for club penguin fans only.

Also you have to get a new copy that is sealed, because the game includes a code to link your club penguin account to the game, so if you buy a used one the code will be already used up most likely, then you would be stuck with what is pretty much a worthless game. So this game is pretty much worthless as soon as you use the code that comes with the game.

Once you get all this set up its really great for club penguin fans, and probably the best club penguin Nintendo game made so far. You can play mini games and upload coins to your club penguin account. If you buy items in the game the items will sync to your club penguin account which is really cool. As you can imagine there are exclusive items you can only obtain in your club penguin online account by doing this. There are also exclusive stamps you can earn which are only available by playing this game. I have purchased one of the club penguin DS games and that game does not allow you to get items from the DS games to your online account which is kind of disappointing, this game does that.

The only mini game I have trouble with is Goal! You won't win that one or it will be extremely difficult to do so. Sometimes while playing with AI players the mini games seem largely based on luck regarding who will win regardless of which mini game you are playing. Of course you don't have to "win" every time in order to progress in the game, there are different conditions you have to meet to progress like "beat the green team in 2 out of 4 mini games". If you don't win or get 1st place there are no penalties, you just try again.

I bought this game for myself (I'm 38)-I just like fun games that are non-violent. I only got to play a little so far, but-here's my opinion so far. Graphics are decent-cartoony, but I've come to expect that from Wii. A lot of the minigames seem similar to each other. I was really expecting a little more when I read the other reviews. I was hoping the controls were a little more intuitive. Also-it's a little hard to figure out exactly where you're supposed to go to accomplish goals-another reviewer said stumble upon & that's about right.

"Epic Mickey 2" is a blast, and it's a true pleasure to behold the imaginative worlds that were sculpted for this adventure. The game is fairly simplistic, but that doesn't matterit's just plain fun. The level of polish isn't quite on par with the "Ratchet and Clank" universe (the king of cartoon games, in my opinion), but it's pretty darned close. Consoles NEED more games like "Epic Mickey 2!" It's great, whimsical, nonviolent fun for all ages.

The game's major fault (if you want to call it that) is that it's rather short in length. This does not bother me at all, since I'm a very busy adult, and I don't have all that much time for gaming. I would much rather have a beautiful, finely tuned experience than a bloated one that can drag at times. And if you're buying this game for your child, it's nice to know that whis game won't suck them in for endless hours like WOW or Skyrim, but will lend itself well to short, enjoyable sessions. However, there are plenty of collectibles to go back for, so you can still spend plenty of time in Mickey's world.

Alsothis is a great co-op game! Fun for an adult and their child, two siblings, or even you and your significant other.

I pre-ordered my copy of Epic Mickey 2 on Xbox 360 and picked it up today. The graphics are amazing (on the 360 anyways). I was wondering how the gameplay would be compared to using the wii remote to use the brush, but the right joystick on the xbox controller is used to aim the brush. The controls are very simple. I am excited to play co-op. I was excited to see if you could co-op over Xbox live, but unfortunately it is just a local co-op. Another great thing about the game is that the characters actually talk, instead of having to read all of the text boxes in the first game. Overall it is a great game so far!

Best Deals for Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two - Xbox 360

This is written based on the xbox360 version of this game.

The concept a new storyline for Mickey (and Oswald) is a great one. The cut scenes are spectacular. Watching the opening scenes really gives you the feeling like you are playing characters in a Disney cartoon.

Then the game play starts.

The camera is horrid, and the same stick controls the camera and the aiming. The aiming is just as bad, with Mickey's paint going in random ways, but rarely where you want it to. To add to the frustration, in co-op, if you miss with the thinner and hit Oswald, you do damage.

Co-op is more fun, as you cannot switch and control Oswald if you are playing solo, it's only Mickey. However, the vertical split and the zoom level they've chosen means that you cannot see much. Paired with the bad camera control and how finicky platforms, puzzles, and combat is let's just say you have to REALLY love Mickey to be willing to keep slogging through this.

This had the potential to be amazing. It, unfortunately, is not.

Epic Mickey was the first video game I played all the way through, and though I got frustrated with some of the puzzles, and the controls, and the camera, I attributed it largely to the fact that I was a newbie. Also, I played it on the Wii, so the graphics were chunky enough that it made it difficult not to fall off cliffs and miss critical objects from time to time, which didn't help. But overall, I had a blast, and really enjoyed following it all the way to the end. I then went back and played it again, as evil Mickey, and found more hidden stuff and adventures than before. Big thumbs up.

So I was excited to play this one. Really. Excited. But not so much now.

Hated the Mad Singing Doctor. Had to turn off the sound and read subtitles instead. Not sure if it was an homage or a joke, but I do know that it was annoying as all getout.

The overall mission was easy to follow, but I was not focusing as much as I should have been (I realize in retrospect) on side missions, because all of a sudden I realized the game was "over" and I had missed a ton of opportunities. So I started over, intending on being far more thorough. And I was, but didn't get out of it what I had hoped. Plus, after completing the mission, and then doing a ton of side journeys, there's no END. You just sort of at some point decide to quit. Extremely unsatisfying way to end a game after that much time invested. Big BOO on that one.

The camera in this game can be really awkward. All of a sudden I'd be looking at a rock instead of Mickey's POV because the rock is behind him, where the camera is. Hmmm. Also, lots of dizzying perspective shifts made it hard to deal with situations requiring any sort of rapid reflex reactions.

I found myself yelling at Oswald to get with the program a lot. His AI tendencies stunk, and when I was trying to get him to engage an object or enemy or something, I'd end up throwing him in the air and waiting 15 seconds for him to come back down because they both use the same button. Uhhhhhh...? He would also not join me when I tried to summon him, and I'd have to pick up a second remote and play him myself to get him to do what I wanted, then sign back out and return to just playing Mickey by myself. Not good. His voice also grated after a while, and again, I turned off the sound to avoid hearing his whiny complaints.

There were also far too many opportunities for me to screw up a side mission by doing something that seemed totally innocuous, but ended up destroying the chance to finish up a quest. Like putting the pearl in the wrong place, when I didn't even know what all my options were for it in the first place.

Or, I'd try really hard to follow the rules, and STILL get screwed up somehow. Ian and his love of blotlings is my favorite example. I made it through Blot Alley without hurting any, and he was thrilled. I then made it all the way through the Fort without ONCE touching my thinner button, and yet somehow, while fighting the slobber monster, it cut to Ian saying I'd thinned out the little guys and he was mad and not going to help me ever again. I had many bad words for Ian, as I had done no such thing, but at that point, it didn't matter, the game had decided I had been naughty and that avenue was closed for further activities.

Meanwhile, all I can do is fantasize about the release of Portal 3. Now THERE are some puzzles!!!!!

Everyone knows MS over charges people for simple, simple accessories. The hard drives for the 360's are probably priced the worst. I was very skeptical when I saw this as it's 3rd party manufactured. Thoughts through my head were saying "What if I get banned from Live or worse it doesn't even work." Well fear not it works perfectly fine. I even transferred all my game data from my old Xbox Elite 120GB to this and it was smooth sailing. Games install fine on this and play fine.

Best Deals for 250G HDD Hard Disk Drive For Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim with USB 2.0

(Read on for the "how to" install instructions).

The price is more realistically close to what a 250gb hdd worth. 100$+ on a 250gb hdd? no thanks.

Works as a charm. you`ll feel really stupid if you went with the 100$ over this one since they do the same thing.

-Little instruction on the installation, this was my 1st time installing hdd on the slim, so obviously I tried to open the upper base\vent (like the original xbox 360), and had a problem with that. so I checked a video and noticed that it`s indeed a base\vent but it was`t the upper one, it was the bottom one. so turn your xbox slim upside down and you`ll notice a small button thingy you can push, then part of the vent will come off revealing the place where you can slide down the hdd, and look at the socket inside and you`ll know which way to insert the hdd to fit the socket. also make sure the pull up thingy is outside so if you wanted to take the hdd out you can just pull the tip thingy up.

-turn on your xbox, and go from the dashboard to system settings, and go to the 250gb hdd, and from the options you may do a format or change the name of the hdd. also you can go to the 4gb flash drive and move anything you like over to the 250gb.

have fun.

This Hard Disk Drive (HDD) seems to be a good product. I have used it to download some online content and it was immediately recognized by my XBOX 360 Slim model. But when I tried to play 5 older games (all of which appear on the XBOX Compatibility List), none would play. Otherwise, it installed fast and seems to work with current 360 games (my Kinect Games worked fine). I realized that Forrest's review, stating the same issue, was posted two days after I ordered mine. But others are now forewarned, if that is a desirable attribute you are expecting from your expanded 360 HDD... I will update if other issues arise.

Waiting for this to finally be available after several delays, got it delivered today.

Opened the box and was impressed with how the wheel looked...however it does feel pretty flimsy. Has some nice rubberized grips and the shift paddles are metal and have a nice chunky clunk when you shift them. The pedals and base are a little awkward...unless you have a lot of weight resting on the pad they tend to lift off the ground under heavy brake or accelerator application. The clamping mechanism works pretty well, it stayed securely attached to my table for the 10 minutes I could stomach using it.

In terms of actually in-game use, I'm incredibly dissapointed. I guess part of it is my fault...I knew this wheel had no ForceFeedback but I assumed no one would build a controller without rumble. In the first few moments I realized I shouldn't have assumed this. There is ZERO feedback from games. If you play Forza 4 or F1 2011 in simulation mode, you know how critical it is to have feedback from the tires even if there's no official "Force Feedback". I found myself actually being significantly slower than I am with a regular controller, which is a pretty sad statement. Force Feedback adds a lot of cost to a unit, but for the gains in playability vs cost I can't understand why this doesn't have a rumble feature.

Another huge drawback is the motion of the wheel itself. It has some kind of spring or elastic material that increases tension as you increase steering angle. Right around the middle there is probably a 30 degree "dead zone" where the wheel just effortlessly floats back and forth. Trying to keep a car stable going down the straight at Silverstone on approach to Stowe is essentially impossible...approaches to most corners end up getting you unstable in braking and ruin your turn in. Incredibly frustrating.

If you play Forza or F1 in arcade mode, you'll probably have fun...same with the more arcade-y games like Test Drive/ NFS / etc. If you enjoy the more simulation style games stay far, far away.

Many people are talking bad about this, but I can see no reason for it. Yes, there is a 10 degree or so area in the middle of the turning radius, but I stopped noticing that within less than an hour. After that this has been pure fun.

Keep in mind you can not play with this wheel in your lap. You have to have a stand for this. I built a cheap stand from PVC and haven't looked back. I picked this up for Forza 4 and could not be happier for the money.

That is where the problems come in for most people. This is much easier to buy than a unit for clutch and shifter, force feedback, and full turning tension. It is unfair to hope for this wheel to do all the things for the $300 plus wheels do. For the money you simply can not beat this steering wheel. It could be better, but it could cost twice what it does too.

I don't understand why this wheel generally has such a bad rap. I've used it for Forza 4 and Forza Horizon and it made both games a lot of fun. There may be a "dead zone" in the middle where there's no tension but so do real cars, and if you use the cockpit view you can see that movements in the dead zone are still registered exactly as you do them. For the price it's made out of some pretty nice materials and looks more like a big-boy toy than a childs plaything, basically you don't feel the need to hide it when guests are over. The only complaint I have is that the pedal base can lift up in the back when switching from gas to brake, but eventually you don't even notice it.

Just make sure you push the pedals against a wall so they wont move and affix the wheel to a steady surface because the tension at the ends is pretty formidable. Using it in conjunction with a desk and office chair or a low table and a lounge-style chair has been the optimal set up for me.

I have come into contact with 4 of these wheels. Two of them my friend has and two of them I have owned. I got my first of the two wheels on christmas and was really pleased with how it worked... at first. The first thing you notice when using this wheel is that it has about 10-15 degrees in the middle where the wheel can free float. This makes it really hard to straighten yourself out while racing. Secondly, within 2 hours of total play time with this, the first one broke. I was not harsh with it at all but the buttons on the start-stop selector stopped working. Upset and distraught, I sent it back for a replacement. The second one I got broke within a few days. The paddle shifters stopped working and the D-pad (start/stop selector) stopped working too. I am now sending it back and I do not plan on getting another. ON THE OTHER HANDmy friend who has two of them, has had them for a while now and he hasn't experienced any terrible problems with his. Despite the free floating he likes them a lot.

I would not recommend these because it's just a seriously unreliable investment.

It is fun while it lasts but chances are, it won't last very long.

If you do buy, you better hope you get very lucky!!

As the title says this is a bargain for $40, especially if you do not own or have never played any of these games. I had rented both Devil May Cry 4(Loved it, personally one of my favorite campaigns on the Xbox360), and Dead Rising (Only had it for a few days, I liked the few hours of gameplay I got in), and with a chance to purchase both of these games, along with Lost Planet, all brand new, for only $40... Too good to believe.

The triple pack comes with 3 seperate cases for each game, all seperatly wrapped in the NEW platinum hits cases. It came in a nice little cardboard box to stick the 3 games in, perfect for anyone looking to spice up their collection with something different. All three games are "long and difficult" games. DMC4 for example is considered one of the hardest games on the 360 to get all 1000G's for in achievements. This is perfect for someone just starting their collection of games.

Looking to increase your Xbox 360 collection but are on a budget? That's where this Capcom triple pack comes into play. It includes the three biggest releases Capcom had during the early life of the Xbox 360. Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and Devil May Cry 4 are three of the best games Capcom has released on the console, and getting the three of them packaged together for this price is amazing.

Dead Rising is the critically acclaimed "free world" action game that places you inside a shopping center fighting for your life. The story focuses on cameraman Frank West. Frank has asked a friend of his to drop him off at a local mall in order to capture footage/pictures of the sudden outbreak that has occurred within their city of Willamette. He asks the pilot to allow him to investigate what is happening and why the army has sectioned off their town. Frank West requests to be picked up at the same location 72 hours later. Upon entering the mall, the player is greeted with several survivors who are in the process of sealing off the entrance doors in order to keep the "zombies" from entering. Immediately afterward, Frank begins on his quest to take pictures of the events, while at the same time rescue any survivors that may have been lost in the mall. In this game, anything and everything is a weapon. From gumball machines, stuffed animals, CDs, and electric guitars all the way to cash registers and hangers, anything that can be found in the environment can be picked up and used for defense against the enemy zombie hordes.

Lost Planet is a great shooter to add to your collection. In Lost Planet, you play as the hero Wayne who is assisting humanity with the colonization of planet E.D.N. III. Upon arriving on the planet, humanity is greeted by local monsters who inhabit the cold environments. What they discover is that upon killing each enemy they are capable of using their thermal energy in order to maintain their own equipment that is needed to allow them to brave the freezing temperatures of the desolate planet. The game makes players focus on both strategy and time since thermal energy is constantly draining and once the player is out of thermal energy death is inevitable. Great combat sequences are bountiful in this game, ranging from on-foot mechanics to giant mechsuits that are used to battle the local monsters. The game starts off simple but gets progressively more difficult with each level, and each boss fight is truly remarkable.

Devil May Cry 4 is one of the most fast paced, action packed games since Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma. With the introduction of Nero, Devil May Cry 4 builds upon the success of previous installments. Nero fights differently than Dante in almost everyway, making it a true thrill to try to master both characters. The game focuses more on story this time around, where as past iterations have been more mission based with almost no story or plot in the mix. The three games come packaged in a joint bundle, however each game is still individually wrapped in a separate game case in case you want to separate and organize the three games separately. These three games are all excellent and contain hours of gameplay that is sure to keep you entertained for weeks, if not months. Trying to receive all of the achievements in each of these three games will surely keep even the most hardcore gamer satisfied. At this low of a price you're better off buying this bundle than purchasing the three games separately. This is an excellent collection that every Xbox 360 owner should add to their library.

For $37 that I paid no complaints from me!

Awesome price for 3 great games. If you happen to be like me and don't own any of these titles take advantage of this offer and you will be happy with your decision!

Gamespot rated these games at:

Dead Rising 8.4 rating, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition 8.1, Devil May Cry 4 8.0

So as you see not bad at all. Of course we all have our own taste in games and not always do I agree with Gamepot ratings either....

But in my opinion these games are worth the price.

Happy Gaming!

Honest reviews on Capcom Platinum Hits Triple Pack (Dead Rising / Lost Planet:

These are some of the better Capcom games to come out in the last few years and, for this price point, it's hard to beat a deal like this! While I had already purchased Dead Rising when it was released, the other two titles sort of passed me up. Once I saw this pack however, I couldn't pass it up. I gave Dead Rising to a friend of mine and have had a blast with the other two titles (Devil May Cry 4 and Lost Planet). I was extremely pleased with this Triple Pack and hope other companies provide something similar to this in the future for Platinum Hit games like Capcom has!

Three games for just over 12 bucks each is a great deal.

Each game comes in its own case and all three cases are inside a box with artwork for all three.

Each game is the platinum hits version in the grey boxes.

They are not retail however as where the bar code usually is on each box it says "Not for resale" instead. Thats the only clue that these came in a combo pack.

I have yet to play any of the games but when I do I will review each one fully on their own game page. I might edit those reviews into this one if it seems necessary but if you looking for a review for each game its probably best to view the page for each game itself because you will get more info that way.

I did however rent Lost Planet ages ago and remember enjoying it and not having time to finish it before returning the game. As for Dead Rising and Devil May Cry I have only ever played the demo's and I enjoyed both of those as well.

Again, this is a great package of games for the price they are at. You will pay much more than this if you bought each one individually.

Great game, but default settings for the XBOX 360 controller are terrbilbe just like the first one.

Counter-intuitive vs. Shift 1, but try the below and see if it makes a difference. I have tested extensively in both race and drift modes and can absolutely say the game just works for me now!

Feedback appreciated.

Many games based on movies are just bad. For example, the game of Tarzan for psx [stunk] big time, or the Emperor's New Groove, or the Fifth Element. When i heard of Harry Potter coming out for the psx, i tought it was going to be as bad as any game based on a movie. I was a bit wrong. This game is very fun...while it lasts! Check out the good and bad things about it below:

The Good Things:

-Somethings are based on the book

-The characters are just the same as in the movie

-Hogwarts is huge, there is plenty to explore

-You assist all classes including the quidditch practice

-You fight against Voldermort and Quirell

-The magic spells are amazing: Incendio, Alohamora, Wigardium Leviosa, etc.

The Bad Things:

-There are too many things that are not in the book

-Harry Potter doesn't talk

-The conversations between characters are briefly

-The battle against Voldemort is quite pathetic

-The end is very bad

-Many things are briefly described by the narrator in a book

-The forbidden forest is not scary

-Voldemort appears frequently using a green magic

-All the magic used by Harry is basically following the order of bottoms. Example: Press X then O and finally X again: very simple

-Very short and easy

Overall, the game is a worth buying game for any Harry Potter fan.

I recieved this game about four days ago. I opened the package and began playing it for about three hours. After that time I was about 40% done with the game. The next day, I played a total of three hours, and I was about 75% done. On the third day I played about two hours and completed it. Do you catch my drift?

Now, I would classify myself as a very experienced gamer and have played a number of very difficult games. I would classify this as the easiest game I have ever played on the Playstation console(next to Ridge Racer). I will give it credit, however, the castle and the surrounding area was very well designed, the interactions with other characters is very good, and the levels are fun and interesting.

If you parents are looking for a good game for your 7-12 year old, I would suggest this game. If you are looking to buy for 13+, I would continue my search elsewhere. Overall, this was a very fun and interesting game, but it wasn't very challenging.

I played a short demo of this game at E3, and it's a 3-D action-adventure game with its setting in Hogwarts. You enter different classrooms to learn spells, then put those spells to use to solve puzzles. I didn't see what Quidditch looks like, but it'll be in there, too. One of the developers told me the PS version has about 10 times the content of the PC version, since the latter is intended for a younger audience. The Game boy and GBA versions are also completely different games, so that should be interesting.

Honest reviews on Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone

That's what I kept telling my 7-year-old ... "your turn in just one more minute!" Very good game! Downright addicting. Like it very much, at least the 50% that I've played (in our house we rent before we buy). I especially liked the graphics, very creepy! Voices are really good too. One rather irritating thing about the game was that the choices given were small ... actually there was only one choice. Only one way, one path through the game and if you can't complete the task at hand, you are stuck. And if your 7-year-old doesn't have a grown-up nearby to help and get them "unstuck", this game can frustrate him! Sometimes frustrated me! But that goes with the nature of any game ... if it was too easy, it wouldn't be any fun!

I noticed in a previous review that someone complained about the directional flying controls. I noticed the same thing, that they were reversed and it made Quidditch darn near impossible to do. Easy fix: go to control options! There's a category for "flying controls" with "normal" and "reverse" options. Makes playing whole lot easier.

You play Harry Potter beginning his first year at Hogwarts. There is a great deal of exploring to do and its quite fun. There is the huge castle called Hogwarts, the castle grounds and Diagon Alley. The game often bends the storyline of the book. E.X. In the game Hagrid's pet dragon Norbert gets sick, in the book he does not. Also, there is plenty characters to talk to. There is Fred and George, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Malfoy, Snape and others. The controls are comfortable for both children and adults alike. You can also learn differant spells.

Gameplay: 7.6 Good

Control: 8.5 Great

Sound: 7.0 Good

Graphics: 5.O Not good...

Overall: 7.7 Good game

Comments: Pretty Good, you should have fun playing this game!!

Review of Microsoft XBox High Definition AV Pack

Microsoft XBox High Definition AV Pack

It surprises me how some people think they know what they are talking about... This is a great product first of all. It comes with component cables, but if you want you can use "better" cables. You will need an optical digital cable to get 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound out of your games. DTS is only available for movies that support it. Games can't use DTS so don't expect it. The component cables that come with this work just great and you don't need to spend alot more money on Monster cables. Do you really think that Microsoft would release somthing that could make their system look bad? Unless you have some insane electrical and/or radio interference then you might want to get cables that are even better than Monster's. Another misconception is that just by using these cables with an HDTV you will get HD resolutions of 1800i with all games. That is just not true! Most games such as Halo only use 480p. There is about 1 maybe 2 games (right now) that go as high as 1080i and I that at least one if not both are football games. That's not to say that 480p is bad because it's not. It's a great resolution and seeing as how most launch games didn't have anti-aliasing, but still looked great proves it. Bottom line great product at a great price.

If you have an HDTV or a 5.1 surround sound system, you'll need this to experience the XBox to its fullest.

For only (about) $20, this gives you all the cables you need. However, if you want to use the optical digital output, you'll need to supply your own cable. Also, if you're a cable snob you might want to pick up some higher quality cables. Personally, I think the cables included are just fine.

I saw this in the store the other day and decided to try it out since I have a 53inch HDTV. I wasnt expecting much but I was really suprised at the difference in pictures vs. the standed AV cable that came with the XBOX. After hooking it up, I went to my XBOX control panel to enable 1080i. While I didn't see much difference in Rainbow Six 3, when I popped Madden in, I immediately noticed a difference. The picture seems a lot crisper and sharp, I must say I am plesantly suprised. I then decided to try NCAA football. With the standard AV cable I always found NCAA to be rather grainy and sort of blurry, but after playing the game with the HDAV Pack, the game looked much much better. No more graininess, the picture is as clear as can be. I will have to play Halo for the 100000th time to see if I notice a difference in that as well. This product is worth all 1,999 pennies that it costs. For those that say you can't tell the difference I don't know what to say. Remember to enable it in your XBOX control panel or it won't work. I'm not sure how this works with regular TVs if at all, so that may be your problem too. This is a must have for HDTV owners.

OK I am so stupid. Nearly 3 years after getting this thing, I just now realized that this pack also has an optical connection for digital audio sound. I have no idea why it took me so long to realize this, but now that I have, I plugged in an optical cable to my receiver, and my XBOX games are now able to be enjoyed all over again, true surround sound, the way XBOX games are meant to be played. This makes this even more worth the money.

Honest reviews on Microsoft XBox High Definition AV Pack

I am not sure what everyone is talking about needing another cable, my HD pack came with a cable. There is no optical cable for 5.1 dolby digital, but for [amt] what do you expect. The cable that comes with it allows you to hook up the component video and stereo. Currently all XBox games only output 480p, so all this talk about 1080i is non-sense. The first game that rumor has it will support 1080i is Madden Football. 480p though looks incredible though and this product is a must have if your TV/projector supports component video. The Monster solution may provide a bit better quality solution, but that in no way diminishes the value of this.

But from what I've seen the Monster Cable pack runs $60 and requires a special $35 optical cable to get dolby digital. The MS HD pack runs $20 and uses a standars optical cable which can be picked up for under $20.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation with regard to this HDAV Pack. After having installed and played with it, I will try to set the record right. The pack is all-inclusive. That is to say for twenty bucks, it contains all the cables you need to connect to your HD ready TV. The cables that are included are very basic unshielded component video (3) and RCA audio (2). With this pack, the best you can do right now is a vertical resolution of 480 lines because the output of the setup screen and all the current games, even Halo, are only NTSC and do not take advantage of the potential capability of 1080 lines of resolution. So don't believe those who claim to run Halo at 1080i. That is not to say, however, that Halo at 480 lines isn't gorgeous. Ultimately, if you have an HDTV, you need this pack to take advantage of it.

I purchased this controller for my X-box 360 & looked to have a really good time playing my driving games. Well the second day after it was delivered the shifted broke. I repaired that & continued to play my game. The very next day the upper right-hand lever/shifter broke off. The day after that the bottom right-hand lever/shifter broke off.

A few days later the upper left-hand lever/shifter broke off. All of the pieces broke within the first month that I have had this stupid piece of equipment. No I would not recommend this controller for any gaming system.

Couldn't be happier with this product. I've used it solely for my Forza Motorsports games and it works almost unfailingly. There's a few very few times when the feedback goes awry, but these have been few and far between. I guess the technology has gotten better; I went through two Force Feedback joysticks several years ago.
