The servers for this game have been taken down. The single player mode is little more than a tutorial for the online multiplayer. With the servers down you cannot play multiplayer. So essentially this game is unplayable. If you buy the disk you will be buying little more than a demo.

Chromehounds is a mech simulator. It may sound obvious, but a lot of people seem to think it's the next Mechwarrior. Mechwarrior (for x-box) was an arcade game that was simple to play and easy to learn. Chromehounds is much more difficult to play and the learning curve is very steep.

The single player story mode is shallow and really nothing more than a glorified trainer for the x-box live version. In fact, if you don't have x-box live gold, this game isn't even worth renting.

The graphics run from very good to pretty poor. The mechs look great and are highly detailed. You can customize your mech with a ton of camoflauge patterns and decals. The environments, on the other hand, are pretty sappy. Buildings, grass, and sand look pretty bland.

The mech customization is really the key to play (otherwise equally powered mechs would just be strafing each other and whoever has slightly better aim would win). You can load up on weapons and armor, at the expense of speed. There are TONS of weapons, legs, and cockpits. You can carry missle counters, thermal vision, night vision, and other "assist" parts.

X-box live featurs a "war" with three warring nations. Every player must pick allegiance to one nation (though you can change allegiances) and you can go on missions for your country. The goal of each mission is to destroy the enemy's HQ while defending your own. You also win, but get less points, if you destroy the other team's mechs.

X-box live also features ranked and unranked games so you can just try out your mech against other players before taking it on the campaign.

This game is complex and it takes a while to figure out how to build the right mech for the right mission. My only real complaint is going on missions requires you join up with your squad. If you've ever been in a "clan" on x-box live, you know how hard it is to link up with your team to play other teams. Overall, this game offers a unique mech simulator that assures players won't necessarily be beaten by trash talking 13 year olds with excellent hand eye coordination.

Sadly, this was an acceptable game with many flaws that was sort of fun. Until they crippled it completely by shutting down the servers. Now it's completely unplayable. You cannot even use the mechs you built with online parts because now all your parts are gone. You can't play with friends, because there is are no servers. You can't even host your own game because they didn't think that far ahead. You can't get 1000 gamer points because there is no online service.

It was maybe 2.5 stars before. I'd give it 0 stars if I could

Honest reviews on Chromehounds - Xbox 360

As of Jan 6th, 2010, all online content has been shut down. All that is avalible is the single player campaign wich is only a very long tutorial for playing the online portion, which of course is no longer avalible. This was my favorite game of all time, but now it is worthless without the online multiplayer.

ChromeHounds is the first Mech related adventure for the XBox 360. A little bit combat, a little bit strategy, this provides quick, easy missions and then involving online gameplay.

If you've seen mech games before, you know the basic idea. Big, plodding robots with legs, tracks or wheels. Lots of weapons and armor to plunk onto the mech in lego-like fashion. Enemies and buildings to blow up, while staying alive.

Where other mech games go for arcadey non-reality, ChromeHounds tries to keep things real. Your mechs don't zip along at 100 miles an hour. They stomp with realistic weight and speed, leaving behind footprints and track marks. The detail on their glistening metal body is quite impressive. With the incredibly huge amount of customization available for your mech, you can spend hours honing the exact perfect mech for your gameplay style, and really care about its survival.

The world you inhabit didn't get this same level of loving detail. The missions are all very short and really don't need a plot. You are blowing things up while trying not to be blown up yourself. The environments you stomp through are almost an afterthought. Don't look for waving fields of grain or purple mountains majesty here.

As in many modern combat games, the basic mission tree is really all just a training mission for the *real* challenge facing other human beings. You want to replay the local missions several times, tuning your mech movement skills and your weapon / armor combination to get ready for the team based online gameplay. That is where the real fun and skill-testing begins. Can you coordinate your efforts with your friends to ward off attacks from other skilled players from around the world? You can't just run and blast away that technique will get you killed quickly. You have to know your mech's limitations and advantages, and then plan joint attacks to achieve that victory. It really is a fun combination of hand-eye coordination and tactical intelligent planning.

Well recommended for people who have online gameplay and enjoy that level of thought. For someone just wanting an arcadey fly-fast-and-blow-things-up-locally, you might want to rent this first to see if the realistic mech functioning will keep you happy.

I, like most, have been a huge Madden fan throughout the history of the game but I learned a very valuable lesson early on; NEVER BUY BACK TO BACK YEARS!! NEVER!! I did. And I'm sorry for it.

Madden 10 was pretty good, I thought NCAA 10 was better and after playing the demo for 11 I was hooked. I wanted the updated rosters, I wanted gameflow and I was really getting use to the new running scheme. What I figured out after I bought the game was how much the hype failed. Gameflow is ask Madden without pushing buttons. You can always go in and make custom game plans, which I think is a really cool idea, but this takes forever. You're just as good off using the playbook during game play, at least then you have every play you want without forming habits. No complaints with the running game, I think it's pretty solid. If I had a complaint it would be that it is far to easy. I'm no Madden God but this running game makes me feel like one. Passing is hit and miss. I LOVE receivers staying in bounds for the catch or dragging their feet, but that is IF they catch the ball. So many times I've thrown a ball (from a highly rated QB) to an open, slant route running receiver (also highly rated) just to watch the ball bounce in front of him. How about a one handed catch? How about a dive? Where is my coach "give me more effort!!!" button?? The D pad option is just horid. Whoever in game development had that brain storm of an idea should be beaten. On offense it's barely "ok" and I only say that because you can control the clock. On defense it's almost impossible. Just trying to change out of a play is cutting it close, let alone pushing a d pad to cover a certain receiver, ball snaps before I'm ready every time.

Defense goes a little something like this. Open Madden 10, select all, copy, paste to Madden 11....ad D pad frustration. If a developer is reading this....you're an idiot. We don't pay this much money for cut and paste options, and as soon as EA sports stops buying out NFL rights I will never buy another Madden game again. I love defense and I hate that EA hasn't made defense a priority in years. Superstar is another cut and paste job. That portion of the game could be so much better and I've waited for so long to see it evolve. EA sports, I hate you. Franchise is also cut and paste, also another game option that could be amazing through and through.

Online. First off, I never play online. I can understand why some do, I'm honestly not good enough to play against the big boys. But this doesn't stop EA sports from driving me crazy. Nope, this year you must pay for the privilege of playing online, after already paying for the privilege from x-box. Nicely done EA, I loath you. So even though I do not play online, if I want future roster updates I sure will have to pay for it. But that's not all....want dumb coins to buy fake football cards? Better buy those too. Want to have an edge on your franchise? Better buy those options as well. Games are expensive enough. I love game addons like the next game junkie but c'mon man! No other game on the market does this. Fable 3 isn't going to put out a new game every year, make you pay for all the cool stuff while at the same time pushing out a crap product. There would be anarchy on the streets!!!! Madden does it year after year.

The graphics are great, as always, and the Superbowl finally got a face lift. All in all I think it would be a good game if I had gone a few years without purchasing a new Madden. If that sounds like you, or you're waiting for something to push you over the homicidal edge, I bet you'll love the game. If you see a used Madden 11 game on Amazon for $12....that's me.

I admit, I'm a sucker for Madden games. Every year I go out and buy it so I can have updated rosters and a few new features. This year the game took a significant backwards step. The game plays well. Cool animations and the commentary is much improved. The graphics are still decent but seriously, how hard is it to make the crowd look realistic? The crowd looks like someone put a bunch of cardboard cutouts in the stand. It truly looks awful and it's a shame in the year 2010 the developers refuse to fix this issue. The gameplay is your typical madden. Your QB throws a crazy number of interceptions, the computer DB know what routes your WR are running thus you can NEVER throw a curl route without getting intercepted. On defense, your guys will blow a countless number of coverages as they let WR run all by themselves. The improved blocking is a nice addition, but how come my special teams players can't block. I watched 1 of my blockers watch a guy run past him then chase after him. How can you implement improved run blocking yet it can't translate to special teams? I'll get to the kicking aspect of special teams in a minute. The franchise mode is exactly the same. It's a disgrace to not even pay attention to the franchise mode or be a pro mode. There is nothing to do between games during a season. The franchise mode has been untouched for years and I just wonder if the developers have no clue what they can do to add to it. I garuntee if you ask Madden players for input, you will get more than enough suggestions.

Madden 2011 is Madden 2010 with a few new animations and completely dumbed down. Their gimmick this year is you can play a game in half the time with Gameflow which the computer will call plays for you. Was anyone really asking for that? If you want to play a game faster, lower the number of minutes in a quarter. 2nd of all, hardcore football fans and madden fans like to call their own plays. It's part of the strategy and you take pride in calling plays that work really well. The special teams has been dumbed down. Seriously, can you actually miss a kick this year?

Overall, Madden 2011 was made to help attract new gamers and spat in the face of hardcore madden fans. When will the loyal madden fans get a game that adds new features for them? Instead, it seems EA wanted to attract new people to make more money rather than please loyal fans. It's a shame.

In today's tough economic times, Madden 11 is the latest release from a major corporation in the consumer goods sector to cross the line of absurdity. You would think that with a growing adult aged audience, increasing negative publicity via social networking, at the very least the love of football would motivate them to put together a product to be proud of. I do not have much to add to the reviews here. The game is simply not fun anymore. Still have my copy of 2005, would love for Microsoft to release the emulator so I could play it on my 360. Things I hate about this game:

Gameflowplay calling sucks at least ask madden I had three to choose from or could back out and choose my own play

Streamlined Menus/ Pre play controls (d pad) Just absurd, how is making selecting things and navigation more difficult "streamlining" You never have total control of a menu and pre-play takes too long is awkward 2005 was better at this

Fight for the Fumble How did this get green lighted for another year?

In 2005 I could save my game at any point of a game. Why the !! can't I do it 6 years later on a next gen console.

Gameplay Is boring, choppy

Franchise Mode Used to be what made this game addicting, Teams moving, expansion draft, sick draft picks, holdouts, players demanding trades, progression with otas. Every year this gets leaner and I find less of a reason to keep playing. Good Riddance I can find better things to do with my time and money. I would rather mow my lawn and mulch around my house.

Honest reviews on Madden NFL 11 - Xbox 360

I decided to give Madden a shot this year, and it was a huge mistake. In short, EA knows they have a cash cow and do everything very sloppy. There is no reason that NCAA Football come out a month earlier and always offers a more polished in game and out of game experience. This game has a shocking 2.5 star on Amazon, and more people need to get the word out to NOT BUY THIS GAME AND FORCE EA TO FIX THE FRANCHISE!!

First the short positives. The graphics are gorgeous, EA keeps perfecting and perfecting the look of real football and has this game looking fantastic. Also, the updated engine (a modified version of the FIFA engine) has the physics of the game looking much more believable and simulation-worthy. Last but not least is the 'locomotion' running game. The two stick running game is very intuitive and offers fantastic control whilst carrying the football. Unfortunately, my praise ends there.

Overall, Madden is a poor offering, and here's why. First of all, they haven't done anything with the franchise or superstar modes, both have been the same since virtually the PS2 era. The price is horrific for a yearly release title, and then to beat more money out of used game sales, they charge ten bucks if the online pass has to be used just to play online (or get roster updates). And while the physics are great, they still managed to pile on the legacy issues and unrealistic gameplay by 'warping' receivers making impossible catches, players dropping easy catches, and seemingly telegraphed picks/completions/runs, etc. My Madden 09 has the same problems and nothing has been done to correct them. The sloppy presentation is broken and illogical. Everything is very broken up on the commentary, there are slight robotic pauses in nearly everything Gus Johnson says. (i.e. they weren't willing to say 'first down', 'second down', and 'third down', but 'first', 'second', 'third', and 'down' and piece them together.) Also dumb comments like Kevin Kolb being one of the NFL's primere passers when he's barely played had me laughing. All-in-all the presentation and commentary is horrible, unless you like to listen to overly emphatic pitches for Old Spice (Be a man...MAN!). And also EA botched Ultimate Team badly. The mode that is great in FIFA and NHL is miserably handled in Madden, which just further shows the developers of Madden's laziness and carelessness. (i.e. they have a cash cow, so why bother?)

But my biggest beef with Madden is now that each game is just a pile of advertisements. Having sponsors of the game or ads on the field are fine, but every play of the game seems to have a sponsor. You're littered with ads from the stats, to the reviews, to the commentator. You really cannot get away from it. And now once you hit the two minute warning, it will take forever to get to the end. You've got to hear all about Verizon, Old Spice, Doritoes, Gatorade, and others. Every. Single. Game. It really hampers the fact you're playing a game and it's more like a chore to sift through advertisements.

All-in-all this year's Madden is bad. Really bad. The additions, sans the running game and engine, are handled poorly. The legacy issues are still there, so you should just play '08 or '09 where they still are there, but the advertisements are not completely running rampant.

But in all honesty, EA has no reason to fix this game. It will still be the best selling sports game in the US, so they'll remain complacent and not fix things that have needed to be fixed and continue adding in more ads year after year. The only way to get them to fix this heralded franchise is to hit them in the wallet and DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

These new changes to bring casual gamers in really hurt the game. None of the features added were requested at all but let me summarize the added features.

1. Gameflow(Ask Madden 2.0)-You press A and it picks a play for you good i guess if you can't do it yourself or dont care what play you do but is this really the main new feature added???

2. Improve Blocking and Catching Awesome ive been waiting for the good blocking and catching for a while.

3. Defense All i can say the hell happened? The defensive AI is worse than last year maybe even 09, playing online on all-pro the score has been over 40 points each game. I like scoring but this is ridiculous.

4. Online Ok so if you quit while playing a ranked before 1st half ends you get no penalty and your opponent gets no win, yea EA what the hell where you thinking on this one.

5. Franchise Mode, Superstar, Madden Moments The same as last year

Im sorry if you disagree but how can you rate this higher??Since I am a Madden fan I hope they fix the issues with a patch because this will have a short life span if they don't.

Update Online quitting is somewhat fixed helps improve ranked game play.

General/Summary: This is quite possibly one of the best looking baseball games that I have ever played and the gameplay goes hand in hand with it. At first I thought that this was just another mediocre baseball game but then I started to realize what this game is about. The detail in this game is amazing, the options and extras are very nice because it adds alot more life to this game. I'm sure the only reason anyone would read this is to find out if it is better than High Heat 2003 or Triple Play(ugh), well I used to own High Heat 2002 and I have the demo of 2003 and I would say that without a doubt All Star Baseball is better. In HH(the demo) it was way to easy to strike the opposing batters out, and i'm guessing that anyone who knows any kind of pitching strategy could easily win with 20+ k's. All in all All Star Baseball is actually more of a sim than High Heat

Gameplay: The gameplay is great. It reminded me of the MLB series from 989 for the Playstation. When you choose your pitch each button is assigned to a certain pitch, so x might be fastball and square might be change-up.(each pitcher has the right pitches that he has in real life) Then you would move the cursor to where you want in or out of the strike zone and press x to throw it. You can also throw pick-offs too first, second, and third,, simply by pressing the corresponding button, and you can also do a mid-windup pick-off which I was quite pleased with. All you have to do is wait till the pitcher is half way through his windup then you press the base, which base he's able to throw to depends on if he's a right hander of a left hander. If the batter hits the pitch then you move your fielder to the red circle and wait for him to catch it. If it's a ground ball you have two options. You can go to the circle and let him pick it up and then throw or you can push the base button before he has the ball to make one fluid play. This is referred to in the manual as "future throw". There is also two ways to bat in this game, you can use the easy batting or the regular batting. The regular batting is where you have a cursor and you try and line it up with the ball cursor, you can tilt the cursor to hit pop-ups or grounders or pull it or go with it. Then there's the easy batting which is just like high heat, you just time it right and swing. This is what I used because I find the batting cursor too hard. You can also guess the pitches on regular batting. If you guess right your cursor gets bigger and the opposite happens if you guess wrong. There are also player cards in this game which is quite fun. Basically you get points for doing things like a double-play and you buy packs containing six cards. The more cards you have the more cheats you unlock, it's really fun. If you're an arcade fan then play this game on rookie and pitch like you don't know the difference between a fastball and change-up, but if you're a sim fan then just use the right strategy, you might want to play on a harder level, but I played a one to nothing game on rookie so I actually think that this is more of a simulation than High Heat 2003

Graphics: These graphics are amazing, the stadiums are very accurate, and the actual field very much resembles the real field. It seems like they've used the 3D cyber-scan on every player because pretty much all of them look like their real life counterparts. You can know who someone is just by looking at their back because of their body build. The animations are also very good, when you're fielding a ground ball you see the player catching it, bringing it up to his chest then starting to throw it just like in real life. Every know and then you will notice the ball magically going to the player even though he's two feet away from it but it doesn't happen very often, and when it does it's not that distracting. My favorite part is the replays, you can't do a manual replay but there is one for every play, and it's simply amazing. When you hit a line drive and you see the ball flying by the people in the crowd you can't help but feeling that it's real. Speaking of the crowd, they're just your typical videogame crowd, flat paper like, but they do move and if you see them straight on then they look quite good.

Sound: I have heard better but not much. The announcers are almost always right and they'll usually tell you the stats of the player from last season in his first at bat. I remeber I was the Blue Jays and I was playing the Yankees and Carlos Delgado hit a game winning home run in the 11th inning. The next game the announcer said "He came up big yesterday with a homerun to win it." I was astonished to hear it. The crowd reacts nicely to what's going on. In the later innings they'll get louder if it's close or if it's a blowout they'll quite down. If a big play is made they'll get louder for the appropriate amount of time and then quite down again. Basically they react to the situations very well. I'm pleased that the sound doesn't take anything away from this game, although it doesn't add that much. I hope this helps in your decision.

Two words...Franshise mode...finally somebody got it right thank you Akklaim Sports. The player detail is absolutely beautiful. The replays after each play make it almost feel like you are sitting in the stands or from the TV camera replay looks like you are watching an actual game. Expansion mode is also very fun with some very creative expansion nicknames and logos added by the software people along with some citys that should have teams such as Hawaii, Norfolk, VA, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, Vancouver B.C. As far as the gameplay there is only one flaw that I have seen and that is sometimes when you are fielding the ball your player chasing the ball might make a catch that looks like the ball would land at least 5 feet away from where he was standing. But other times you will watch balls bounce off of players gloves and watch squibbers get under the diving infielders. Overall this is the best baseball game ever made for ANY system. The realistic feel and no 17-15 games make it that much more realistic. I have played four games with scores of 8-5, 8-3, 2-1, and 3-2. I cant get myself away from this game because every time I turn off the playstation 2 i just yearn to turn it on and play even more. Triple Play is dead...come on EA Sports add fantasy mode and i might give you a chance again but right now All Star baseball 2003 from Akklaim is the king of baseball video games. BUY THIS GAME NOW !!!!

Best Deals for All Star Baseball 2003

All-Star Baseball 2003 is a fabulous game. Although I've never played any games from the High Heat series, this blows Triple Play out of the water. All the different modes of play alone put it ahead of all the other games (nobody else even has a franchise mode!!). Fielding and Pitching is very well represented. Only a slightly odd looking catch will happen every now and again, but this is just a minor glitch. I've seen a couple of people complain about the hitting being difficult. If you don't want realism, then buy Triple Play. The scores are normal for a real baseball game 4-2, 5-3, 2-0, etc. It's realistic, so therefore hits don't happen all the time. There are bloop singles, line drives off the wall, hard grounders past the infielders, everything is represented. Without a doubt, buy this game, you won't regret it!!!

Honest reviews on All Star Baseball 2003

Ive been waiting since the idea of franchise mode for a baseball game to include it, and its finally here. With Trades,Free Agents, and best of all, a farm team, this game provides the most options to create a roster. Also, the addition of the 15 and 60 day DL creates even more chances to mimic reality. Players get better, or worse, depending on age. Perhaps one of my favorite aspects of this game is the Stadium and Throwback jersey options.. I was overjoyed to see another game at Tiger Stadium, and the chance to try and homer over the centerfield wall at the Polo Grounds. The graphics are beyond comparison, and the gameplay, contrary to other reviews, is quite good. Hitting SHOULDNT be easy, because the homer happy Triple Play series is extremly irritating. The Pitching interface requires you to mix your pitches and hit your spots. Anyone complaining about those two aspects is seriously missing the greatest joys in this (or any) baseball game. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a baseball game to spend thier summer playing.

This game is the best baseball game u can buy today. It has all the teams, all the stadiums and more. Graphically it doesn't quite match up with EA Sport's Triple Play, but it does offer many other features that EA doesn't provide. A couple features from the gameplay.

The part i liked most about being at bat, is the way it keeps track of your previous at bats. It tells you where you hit the ball on the field, what kind of pitch you hit and where the pitch was located in the strike zone.

The batting is a bit difficult but if you use the batting practice mode, you'll get better in no time.

-The feilding in this game is great. The advance bas throw is amazing. If you are used to playing Triple Play it might take a bit of getting used to it, but sone you'll be turning Double Plays with ease.

Here are a couple from the franchise mode:

Expansion: Let's u choose from many big citys/towns/states from across the US, including: Sacremento, Jacksonville, Virginia, DC, and even Alaska.

Farm Team: I have waited years for a good game to have a farm team. No more players living forever. Now when your all-star players retire, you have a brand new crop of players to replace them. This is one of the most difficult parts of the game. You must use your best judgement in when to bring up your young players and when sending them back down to the minors would be better than them sticking it out in the bigs.

History: This game is great at keeping you up-to-date on the past. It keeps track of all-time records both career and season records. It also keeps track of how many Gold Gloves players, ROYs, and MVPs your team has produced over your 20 year season.

Signing players: Just like if you have ever played Madden 2002 you must resign your players. You can even decide to go out on the market and steal someone else's star player.

Problems: One thing in the franchise mode is the schedule. You play the same schedule for 20 consecutive seasons. That just makes it a bit boring when u look at match ups.

Overall= Best Baseball game for the PS2 on the market

I'll say this right off: If you own Hulk: Ultimate Destruction or a Spider-Man game, then you can probably pass up on this game because it is practically the same type of gameplay. However, this game does not have a MARVEL label and can be considered an original piece of work.

-Graphics. The overall look of the game is good. Manhattan island is replicated beautifully, and it shows. If you need to figure out where Gold's Gym is, just have Alex Mercer (the Prototype) jump around the city until you find the sign. Then maybe you can find it while you're driving around! However, some textures seemed stretched or PS2-esque when you look closely. However, this can be somewhat forgiven as the city looks gorgeous when looked at from a tall building.

The animations are smooth and well done. From Alex running over cars and up buildings, to the solider that was just the victim of a Patsy maneuver, to the simple pedestrian puking their guts out because of the virus, everyone seems to come to life, regardless of the outdated graphics.

-Gameplay. I will admit, I was a bit surprised as to the simplicity of the controls. My original thoughts were that you would need more buttons than one could fit on a blackberry just to pull off some of the stunts. But with a nice upgrade system and button layout, wreaking havoc on the army is a breeze that looks fantastic. Some moves don't need to be bought to beat the game (in fact, a lot of them don't even need investing into), but its just fun to watch you uppercut someone into the air and then grab them in mid-air and slam them into the ground. And in case you forgot how to do that one move you love performing in front of your friends, the skill-purchase screen gives a wonderful diagram that tells you what to push in what order.

-Story. Let's face it, the people who buy this game are in it for the action and chaos. However, if you pay attention to what is going on in the life of the protagonist, you may find yourself CARING and WONDERING how the virus got to this point. To enhance the story and make you care, the game shells out people that contain memories vital to Alex Mercer's own mind. Apparently he has some kind of amnesia, so instead of waiting for the effects to tide over he simply abosorbs the people that know something about him. The more memories you collect, the more the puzzle fits together, and the more you want to absorb to find things out...and the more tanks that get destroyed when they kill someone that has a vital memory you need.

-Other Comments. I enjoy this game very much, regardless of what others may think. This is just an opinion that you don't have to listen to. In the end, you will have to play the game yourself to see if you like it or not.

Also, I would like for people to consider this when talking about the graphics: should under-par graphics get in the way of an enjoyable experience? That's like saying a super model is ugly because she's wearing a hand-me-down dress from her mother's side in the 50's. A game's replay value should not be based on graphics alone. Besides, texture loading and framerate would be major issues if released with next-gen graphics. Mass Effect had that problem, Gears of War had it, and so did GTA IV.

Overall, the game is great. [PROTOTYPE] is one of those games that sticks with you until you beat it, then you want to start over to see if you can beat it on hard mode or try a different skill set. The only major downside is that there is no multiplayer. Period. If you want co-op action as you run down the streets of a fear-stricken neighborhood, go play Crackdown.

Prototype allows you to grow organic body armor with blades sharp enough to cut 10 people in half, jump 50 yards, run up a skyscraper, karate kick a helicopter, grab onto it, force open the cockpit, throw the pilot to his death, fly the helicopter through the streets of New York unleashing guns and missiles on traffic, zombies, tanks, and soldiers, bail out of the helicopter crashing it into a building, glide to the ground, grab an unsuspecting human, digest him, steal his appearance, and blame someone else for what you just did. If that sounds awesome to you, buy Prototype!

Concept: 10/10

Take Spiderman's Symbiotic Suit (aka Venom & Carnage) push it to the limit, give it to a maniac, have him kill an army of zombies and a misguided military in, around, and above the streets of New York. You get to be that maniac!

Story: 9/10

You are Alex Mercer, a very bad man who has inherited superhuman powers. You're on a quest to stop a viral outbreak that turns people into mutant zombies and to stop a rogue general with the military at his disposal. The story is told through cutscenes and missions. Additional story detail can be obtained through "Digesting" key NPC's and stealing their memories. It's exciting, compelling, and well acted.

Gameplay: 9/10

The abilities bestowed upon Alex Mercer are amazing! You get an arsenal of military weapons. You can hijack tanks on the ground and helicopters out of the air! You can run up skyscrapers. You can glide through New York. Your body can morph into different types of weapons. You can take the shape of any NPC, so stealth is also an option. When you destroy things or complete missions, you get points that you can use to upgrade Alex. Rampaging through New York is fun, but it does take time to learn how to use all of Alex's upgrades and there isn't much guidance on what you should upgrade. There is a lot of depth in the game, and you won't fully understand it until you are about 90% of the way through. Once you understand how to fully use all of the powers, the game becomes amazing!

Graphics: 8/10

The graphics are good, considering that the game has to draw all of New York from the ground and the air. The character models are also pretty good. You can expect to see 100 characters, tanks, cars, helicopters, zombies... on screen at once!

Level Design: 7/10

Some levels are better than others. There's a good variety, showcasing all of Alex's Powers. The difficulty differs between easy and you'll die before you can read the Mission Objective. There is no 'right' way to complete a mission. You can use speed, stealth, brute force, or hijack military vehicles. If you fail a mission, you can always upgrade and try new tactics.

Replay Value: 7/10

The game is open ended, there are a ton of optional missions, and different difficulty settings. Prototype's single player campaign is 11-20 hours long, depending on how many optional missions you do. I would strongly suggest taking your time and learning how to use Alex's powers before attempting the later missions. You'll have more fun that way.

Maturity:

The game is rated M for throwing people to their deaths, chopping them in half, blowing them up, crushing their skulls, impaling them, running them over, gunning them down, and splattering them against the ground... Oh, and there's some harsh language, too.

Overall: 9/10

Prototype is a very fun open world superhero game. Trashing New York with super powers and military vehicles is a great way to blow off some steam. Some of the gameplay could use a bit more polish, but the scope of this game is so huge any slight faults are forgiven.

Buy it if you want New York as your playground and you're feeling destructive, if you've ever wanted to play a Venom game without Venom, or you loved Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

Actually, this game could have been called "Skinny Guy: Ultimate Destruction."

Rent it if you like action games, have an extra 15 hours, and only play through games once.

Avoid it if you like linear missions, playing good guys, or you don't like violence.

If you like this game, I can recommend Red Faction Guerilla, Crackdown, or Infamous (if you own a PS3.)

Best Deals for PROTOTYPE - Xbox 360

A lot of reviewers have discussed a lot of the finer points of the game. I will only to add a few things that I felt were inadequately treated.

GAMEPLAY: PROTOTYPE has two features in this category that work very well for it. Indeed, I think that these are its only two selling points and the source of all its fun. First, its leveling content. You gain evolution points by defeating baddies (no surprise there), and use them to unlock a wide array of abilities. One thing PROTOTYPE can boast is its library-sized selection of powers suitable for almost any style of play with relatively simply controls to execute what amounts to visual ecstasy. I found the ability to skyjack helicopters to be extremely satisfying, but being able to dash up and down buildings and cut hordes of enemies into ribbons was thrilling. And all this points to what I have already mentioned as its second strength: namely, that these abilities should be so flexible and yet so easy to execute. A final positive thing worth mentioning is its use of shape-shifting. Catch the unwanted attention of military personnel? Quick run around the corner after consuming someone and mimic their form. If you were out of line of sight, you'll no longer be sounding the alarms. This is an innovative way of escape, which lets you get right back into the action.

Unfortunately, the game play is not perfect. The targeting system is the cause of great frustration. Since all it takes is a flick of a thumb-stick to switch targets, dashing around or trying to maneuver the camera to get a better view of what you're doing can cause you to switch targets. It might seem like a relatively small complaint, but when you become surrounded by tons of them and you need to target specific foes then, well, it will be an exercise of self-control to not throw your controller across the room. Only choppers have target lock, and this needed to be implemented globally, especially while on foot.

Another sore spot is the redundancy of the game's features. Go here, kill this, go there, kill that. The only break in the monotony is the ability to infiltrate military bases, which thankfully shows up in a fair amount of the story missions. But this is only of minor concern, since people who buy this type of game myself included are more interested in causing chaos than a whole lot else.

GRAPHICS: As some others have indicated, PROTOTYPE's graphics really do not make use of what the 360 has to offer. It seems somewhat reminiscent of PS2 days. I would agree that at high elevations, the city's artful rendering is something worth marveling over, but the truth of the matter is that you spend the great majority of the game close to the ground (especially since nearly all of your powers revolve around this kind of play). You cannot help but notice the inferiority of the detail with respect to other 360 games. But this is not to pooh-pooh on them altogether: the individuated animations do, as other reviewers have mentioned, allow the city to seem as it has a life of its own. But at the same time, we should demand that we, as consumers who spend so much on a game, get both. They should not be mutually exclusive, and in PROTOTYPE they are.

PLOT/STORY: The protagonist of PROTOTYPE is subject to the cliché, yawn-inducing condition of amnesia as a result of his contact with the game's virus. While this presents a novel way of learning the details of the story consuming others to collect their memories it does not really speak to any originality on the part of Activision/Blizzard. You spend your time, as you might expect, working way the up informational chain until the AH-HA! moment is revealed by eliminating the game's pesky antagonists. Unfortunately, the AH-HA! moment is less of a eureka and more of a head-scratching anticlimax. Though story is not usually a primary driver for the design of a sandbox video game, it would seem as if PROTOTYPE has clearly announced that it has no interest in delivering one. By the last third of the game, any interest that the evolution system might have generated for me had worn away and I was scrambling to beat it only so that I would not feel compelled to play the game anymore.

All characters are flimsy and one-dimensional. Even the main character lacked any really interesting features that would set him apart from any other generic antihero. He wants his memory back and he wants revenge for what happened to him. His sister drop an f-bomb every third word even though there really isn't any reason to. The military is super evil because they like making weapons. Nothing new here.

SUMMARY: The game can be quite a bit of fun, but it seems like Activision/Blizzard did not actualize all the game's potential. I would suggest that it is worth at least renting, seeing as it would not take more than ten or twelve hours to beat, but it is certainly not worth sixty or even forty dollars. I regret spending so much. I would advise everyone to wait until it's in the discount bin, and then pick it up.

Honest reviews on PROTOTYPE - Xbox 360

She: "Oh my god. This is the most violent thing I've ever seen. Why are you crushing all those people?"

Me: "No! Watch this. Even if I tried to steer the tank around them, real slow like..."

[demostrating...]

"Look, they keep running in front of the tank. They are stupid! Plus if I get out of the tank and kill enough them for the purposes of eating, I get to do this thing where I look like I am going to take a dump, except instead of s**t, tendrils shoot out of my head and impales everyone in a 20ft radius."

She: [speechless]

I truly believe that if the developers took a few more months to polish it up, [PROTOTYPE] would have been a real jaw-dropper. There are so many moments that the game almost becomes immensely fun to play, but for me, there always seems to be some irritation the prevents the game from really dropping into "5th gear" so to speak.

I won't rehash the plot. It's a little different and modestly interesting, but the way that it's told, in my opinion, makes it extremely difficult to really immerse yourself in it. The basic idea is that you wake up with amnesia and need to "consume" certain people who are flagged in the city as having a small piece of your memory. Doing this triggers a flash-back and from there, you put together what happened to you. In a nut-shell, it plays like a big jigsaw puzzle. The issue is that you start off knowing so little, that for me, it was difficult to feel like you're understanding what's going on. This lends the game to degenerating into a "run here" "Hit this check-point" "Take out the target" without really understanding why you're doing it. This might be something that certain gamers don't mind, but for me, the style of story-telling was a bit of a turn-off.

The city itself is a replica of New York City. Unfortunately though, it's really pretty ugly. There not a lot of color or variety and it can make it difficult to just "know" what part of the city you're in just by looking at your surroundings and not checking the map. Think for a second, for comparison's sake, at GTA 4. That game was stone-brilliant at the way it crafted its environment! This definitely is a missed opportunity here. Even the citizens don't have a whole lot of variety to them. You can probably count the number of character models on one hand.

The graphics are a pretty interesting mish-mosh of above and below average points. On one hand, the frame-rate is absolutely absurd. There are points where there is so much going on that the feeling of complete chaos will be totally and convincingly conveyed. This is one of the things that [PROTOTYPE] is doing really well and it's impressive! On the other hand, on top of a fairly ugly city, the amount of "pop-in" graphics, I thought, was unacceptable. For example, there's a mini-game throughout [PROTOTYPE] that has you collecting these "landmark" and "hint" orbs of light. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to hijack a helicopter and do a fly-over of the city in order to look for them in open-areas or building-tops. The orbs won't show though, unless you're virtually right on top of them. The ability to see objects at a distance is really poor.

The controls definitely needed work. I had the same complaint about 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed', but the environment being as destructive as it is, is both a blessing and a curse. There's so much debris to pick up and potentially so many enemies on screen, that in highly-chaotic situations (which is often) it becomes frustrating to try and target the object that you want. I could be mistaken, but the AI seems to default to selecting artificial targets for me to attack, regardless of distance. So lets say I'm in the middle of a war-zone and I'm being besieged by both tanks and a bunch of these mutant hunter-things. If I just hit the "target-lock" button, it'll default to selecting the tank, NOT the monsters that are directly in front of me and beating me senseless. That extra second or two it takes to get the targeting correct makes a huge difference in maintaining your character's health on the higher difficulty levels. The other thing about the targeting is that it's being controlled on the same joy-stick that controls your camera. This isn't doing you any favors when you feel you have a good angle on the action ...

Where [PROTOTYPE] really becomes a game worth checking out though, is your super-powers and your ability to upgrade them! There's a ton of really cool stuff that'll keep you playing just for the chance to unleash some of these beauties! Organic blades, whips, Hulk-like biceps and fists, full body armor, a shield, the ability to glide ... [PROTOTYPE] has got it all! It's wildly fun to drop yourself in a military base (for example) and just go bananas, you really start to feel invincible! Conceal your identity by absorbing a military officer and sneak into a military base. You can then turn around and take an APC, tank, or helicopter for whatever use you please. Wreaking havoc is what you gain experience from, and that's how you earn the ability to upgrade your powers. It's all very cool and a lot of fun!

It's just frustrating that a lot of, what I felt were, missed opportunities here were totally fixable, if the proper time was just taken to do it. Whether it was because of time or money, I was left with the impression that [PROTOTYPE]'s designers really wanted to do more then they were ultimately able to. I'd still have no reservation about giving it a thumbs up though, especially now that it's been released for a while. I'm not sure it was worth fifty or sixty dollars, but at this point you should be able to grab a copy at a price that's more then fair.

First off, I'm an otherwise very happy Xbox Live Gold member. Instead of buying a points card from a retailer, I made the mistake of buying the points online from Microsoft through the Xbox. I used my gamer tag account and entered my credit card on the TV and I bought 500 points. I got the email confirmation that I bought the points. I then used the points. So far so good.

Over the next two days, four other Xbox charges totaling $30 mysteriously appeared on my credit card. Someone bought more points and a game subscription using my credit card info. I called Xbox Live supporttheir answer was "we don't give refunds." I explained that it's not a REFUND if my account is used fradulently. They still said no.

Note that clearly the security leak was with them, as no other fraudulent charges appeared on my credit card...just Xbox charges.

I then asked them to delete my credit card info from my Xbox Live account. They said they could not do this. I could not believe this! Given that someone had access to my credit card and they were unwilling to remove my credit card info, I had no choice but to cancel my credit card.

My advicebuy the points from a trusted source like Amazon. Don't ever give Microsoft direct access to your credit card info. I hope this helps.

This is a lot better than doing it through your xbox. For one, no tax. The other reason, for me at least, is that if you put your credit card into xbox live, you cant remove it. You can change it, but it will always have a credit card on file. Buying these points through xbox live would have cost me $54.12. I would rather save that $4.12, thank you.

I've lived overseas in Europe for the past 8 years working with the military. The thing about Xbox live is that they dont accept APO address's for the credit card (Armed Forces Overseas address). Now i can order the code in 5 seconds instead of having to buy a card and have it shipped to me. Thankyou sooooo much Amazon.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 LIVE 4000 Points

This is a great denomination to release Microsoft points in. Since most games on Xbox Live Arcade are purchased in 400 point ($5) increments this card give you the ability to download ten 400 point games or five 800 point games or some other combination (you get the idea). $50 is also a much more acceptable amount than the $62.50 for 5000 points. Since this is on a card it makes this possible to give as a gift or buy without using a credit card. This would be a worthwhile purchase for anyone with an Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.

These reviews show up on the list for all four options, the one, three, and twelve month subscriptions, as well as the marketplace points. Carefully choose the "Size" above, which is where you choose between live "gold" months and marketplace points. Amazon just put all of these different products onto the same page, calling them different sizes.

There is of course a difference between months and points, as you can spend points without a gold subscription (just use the free included "silver" subscription with every XBOX 360), and you can certainly buy gold months without having to get any extra points. So one is not required for the other. The points get you extra content downloads, and the months get you online play time.

Strangely enough, gaming seems to be on a roll when it comes down to working with licenses. Last year, Rocksteady Games surprised everyone by not only making Batman: Arkham Asylum one of the few games that were great for a comic book license but it was a great game period, license or not. It doesn't stop there as later this year, developer Beenox is will release Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions which looks to be quite promising with its unique approach by having 4 different art styles with 4 unique gameplay styles and could look to be another solid entry in a franchise that has been very hit or miss. Now we have Transformers: WFC done by High Moon Studios (Bourne Conspiracy) and it's again another surprising entry in a franchise that's just as bad as the previous 2 licenses and like Batman, your attitude will shift from "please be good, please be a good game" to "wait, this is a good game? wow, imagine that". In many ways you can tell this studio genuinely loves the Transformers universe and they took extra care in making everything fit the license from in-jokes to callbacks to designs that looks back towards G1 rather than Michael Bay (which is a really good thing) and with a campaign featuring co-op drop-in/drop-out for up to 3 players, a Horde mode variant called Escalation and a very frantic and addicting multiplayer, this is one of the biggest surprises this year and makes for a great summer game.

Story: Taking place on the planet of Cybertron, there's a huge war raging between the Autobots and the Decepticons as Megatron is trying to take over the planet and rule over everything with an unstable energy known as Dark Energon. Using the uneasy forces of sky commander Starscream, Megatron goes through Cybertron en route for the key to win the war. Meanwhile, after the leader of the Autobots is killed, their side is left without a leader so in comes Optimus Prime to lead the Autobots against the forces of Megatron. Like most installments that have accompanied the Transformers license, you play as both factions with your choice on which soldier to bring. Want to play as Bumblebee? Go for it or the badassness of Soundwave, even? And of course one nice thing is that the game has drop-in/drop-out co op so it's not like Lost Planet 2 which needed a lobby so if you see a friend playing, just join them.

Graphics: The game uses Unreal Engine 3 which occasionally means there's some odd textures but you'd have to look really hard because the game looks really cool. From the awesome character designs and the smooth-as-silk animations during the transformations, the game has a very futuristic look from neon and steel in bizarre architectural patterns and makes the game really feel alien. This has a downside however in that the game at times can get slightly repetitive and unlike games with a snow level, jungle level and desert level, WFC tends to be all metal hallways with the occasional differing locales. I did notice occasional some framerate issues here and there but it's actually a really good looking game otherwise.

Sound/Music: The voice acting is really stellar and when you hear that distorted voice of Soundwave and the awesome tones that is Peter Cullen's Optimus, you know you're back in the 80's again. But then again, when you don't hear that kind of weird high-pitched almost squealing voice of Starscream it kind of sticks out a little bit but the voice acting barely has any problems. Same with the sound design from the transformation sounds, the gun sounds and the game really makes the gameplay standout. It's the score I have a problem with in that it's kind of fine but a lot of times it felt like the music didn't elevate a lot of the firefights and most of the time it just blended into the background and not really take over.

Gameplay: The game is a 3rd person shooter but this is not Gears of War in that you don't take cover but rather this almost has a Lost Planet / Alan Wake feel where it helps to hide behind things so you don't get shot up but you don't take cover in the typical sense. Controls are very intuitive, especially when you're in your vehicle forms and while normally you'd think it would feel clunky and too strange to control, these ones feel remarkably comfortable. The game comes with the choice of 4 classes: scouts (cars, have cloaking abilities to sneak up on people), leaders (trucks that help buff out the party), scientists (jets which are weak but have a healing gun and a turret that reveals cloaked enemies) and the soldiers (the tanks with lots of health and big power melee moves but are slow). The class balance feels really well-tuned and like Aliens vs Predator, there doesn't seem to be that "god class" since tanks can still be taken down by a cloaked scout whereas that class can be found out by a scientist's turret. While they're all fun to use, you might find yourself excelling more in one class so I made a bad scientist yet I did really well as a scout. The game also has that ol familiar Call of Duty approach with challenges for completing certain tasks, XP rewards for accomplishing certain things during the match (such as stopping an enemy's killstreak, meleeing people twice in a row or killing someone with barely any health left). And of course that also means perks which can help you beef out your characters with abilities. The game comes with various modes which are really just renamed and "Transformers" versions of your favorite gametypes so we have Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Countdown to Extinction (bomb planting at enemy base), and Power Struggle (CTF) though of course TDM was the landslide favorite.

Another mode the game included is Escalation which a lot of people will compare to Horde mode but really it seems more like Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty: World at War. As you gain kills and assists, you gain points which you put towards purchasing things for your character so since you ammo and health doesn't drop, you have to buy it and if you need access to better weaponry, open up doors and in a cool touch, you don't have to spend all your points at once so for example if you want as a team to have someone carry the healing gun but none of you can afford its high price tag, you can either periodically put points into it which accumulate or just split the difference. Here, you can play as the actual Transformers whereas normal multiplayer just as nameless ones you can paint and rename but if you want to play Escalation as Megatron then go for it. One thing you'll find however is that Escalation gets tough and frequently so in later waves. As the waves progress, more enemy types and just more of them in general show up which can range from big melee-dealing baddies to cloaked scouts to flying jets so it really helps if everyone plays as a different class but even then, health and ammo really start to drain fast and it becomes tough staying alive when your health can drop quite quickly. One slight gripe is that unlike Nazi Zombies which were instantaneous upgrades, you have to wait for a bar to fill before you can access your ammo, health or weapon and even then you have to hold X to acquire it which kind of gets annoying when you need that health drastically and you're filling up a stupid bar.

Edit: In my original review, I remarked that the DLC characters was kind of stupid when they're separated by retailers (with Enslaved and Fallout: New Vegas this fall being the biggest offenders) but the first DLC has been put out for the game with 2 multiplayer maps, 2 Escalation maps as well as 5 pre-order characters including the DLC ones (Jazz, Shockwave, Demolishor) but also adding 2 more (Scattershot, Onslaught) but the thing is unlike Call of Duty or Battlefield, the community for the game is somewhat...small and the chances other people have bought the DLC too might be small so it's kind of tough to recommend it. There's nothing "wrong" with it per se but if you felt annoyed by stuff like Resistance 2 or Bioshock 2 where you felt not everyone bought the map packs then the DLC might not be too favorable.

If you're a Transformers fan, it's hard to argue against the quality in War for Cybertron. But this isn't a case of putting with crap for so long only to find the one non-crap title and think it's the best thing ever because of it but rather this is a really well-made game through and through. From a stellar multiplayer, the addicting Escalation, the fanservice offered and the care and love the studio put into this game, this is definately a game to check out for the summer, provided you're going to be in your house at all, that is.

If there was one period of time in Transformers lore that always teased fans with mystery and lack of details it would probably be the robots time on their beloved homeworld of Cybertron. Sure, there were references to Cybertron and in many medias some stories even took place there but the ultimate history remained unseen. Fortunately for the fans and gamers, that's not the such case anymore. Transformers: War for Cybertron, developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision is a third-person shooter that allows the player to play a role in the epic war for Cybertron by playing as the heroic Autobots or ruthless Decepticons. Who knew a robot war in space thousands of miles away could be so good?

To start off I think it's important to note in no way is this game associated with the Michael Bay Transformers film series. This game is its own, it's no quick cash-in, as Hasbro has kept on board to ensure the series is represented faithfully and expertly. If I had to describe this game in the simplest terms I'd probably say it's Gears of War but with Transformers. Both utilize the "over the shoulder" targeting and playing through WFC you just can't help being reminded me of it. Whether you're a diehard FPS guy or a casual fan that has hardly ever played a shooter, you can pick up on the shooting fairly quick. (It's one of those easy to pick up but long to master things) I won't lie, it's not the easiest game in the world; it was much harder than I expected it to be honestly. Whether you're a pro or not and you may find yourself on one of the lower difficulties because it is a challenging game, especially on your first run.

The story is split into two campaigns, one each for the Autobots and Decepticons and you are given the option to play through either faction's story first. Each level allows you to play as one of the iconic characters from the series and the game does support co-op (up to 3) but the co-op must be through Live, it is not local co-op. Might seem like a drag but I honestly think his game is too big and technical to support splitscreen so it's understandable. Regarding the length of the story, honestly I thought it was just right but many people have complained it's too short. It's true there aren't many levels in each chapter but the thing is these levels aren't short, you're not going to be in and out in 15 minutes doing them.

The true gem of this game, however, is not its story, the characters, or the incredibly awesome sounds your robot makes when it transforms as that honor goes to its multiplayer system. It's been forever since I've seen a multiplayer this rich in innovation and fun. With seven different games, everyone is bound to find something they like:

"Escalation" is pretty much like the "Horde" in Gears of War where you and your allies are pitted against unlimited waves of enemies until you die.

"Deathmatch" and "Team Deathmatch" are self-explanatory, you or a group of allies battle it out in a giant robot battle royale. For "Deathmatch" whoever has the most points wins and in "Team" whatever team hits 40 kills first wins.

In "Conquest" you and a team travel around a map capturing enemy points while defending yours at the same time. If you ever played any of the Star Wars: Battlefront games that's basically what this is.

"Code of Power" is this game's "capture the flag". You have a limited amount of time to steal the enemy team's Code and take it to your base to score.

"Countdown to Extinction" is a game that really tests your teamwork as you have to plant a bomb in your enemy's base while dealing with them trying to do the same thing to you. It's a multi-step process so working together is the big thing here if you want to win.

There is also a ranking system in this game, which allows you to pick a class of transformers and through playing games and gaining XP you can level it up. Leveling up will allow you to pick from new abilities and customization so you can play your custom character anyway you want to in the online modes. Sadly there is not too much you can to do to customize your look; you must pick from existing skins (called chassis in this game) and just add a primary/secondary color to it. Not much at all, which really does suck.

To conclude, I gave this game a 4 out of 5 because I honestly don't think it's lacking too much. The game's replayability isn't great if you don't include multiplayer as there is nothing extra to do in the campaign once you finish it. In multiplayer there is an obvious lack of customization for your character which is a downer and perhaps its biggest fault is the fact there's no host migration. Nothing can kill your fun quicker than having the game end instantly because the host quit. If they don't patch this I sincerely hope the sequel incorporates this because it's annoying and a big turn-off to gamers. Ultimately, if you're a huge Transformers fan I would recommend this in a heartbeat; if you're a casual fan or just a shooter fanatic whose looking for a new game I say rent it. It's worth playing regardless whether you buy or rent it, as it is a good game that's worth the experience.

I loved every minute of this game! I'm a Transformers freak so this one did it for me. There was a very good Transformers game on PS2 by Atari that was FAR better than the last 2 movie games. This one still beats that one by far. The visuals, sound effects, music, and environments were excellent! They had an Autobot & Decepticon campaign. The Autobot campaign was a little tougher. I was suprised because I support the autobots, but I think I like the decepticon campaign slightly better...LoL. When I fired Megatron's fusion cannon, I felt powerful, LoL. Playing as Starscream was great as well as my decepticon favorite Soundwave. I am still an Optimus man at heart. Dialogue was great during firefights. I try not to spoil things in my reviews for games. The online play is excellent too! I am definitely going to keep this and purchase FALL OF CYBERTRON.

It's a fun game. It can get old after a while, but it has enough unique qualities in campaign and multiplayer to make it a good alternative to halo, call of duty, and battlefield. Limiting multiplayer to online hurt the game a bit, but this is so far the best experience you can get in a faithful transformers game.

It's actually disheartening that it has taken this long for a delevoper to produce a competent Transformers game. This game basically does for Transformers what Arkham Asylum did for Batman. It restores credibility to the franchise, for the video game medium in particular. Developer High Moon devilvers immersive G1 nostalgia, coupled with classy fan service. It became clear early on during my playing of this game, that the development team grew up on Transformers, and knew how to accruateley portray these characters, and craft an intriguing "prequel" of sorts that would please genuine Transformers fans, and not Michael Bay's misrepresentation of the source material.

PROS:

1. Beautiful visuals really immerse the player in the world of Cybertron.

2. Voice acting and dialog are well performed, with few exceptions. There was

much of an emphasis placed on sound, and this carries over to all aspects of the game. From combat, voice overs, transformation, everything sounds as it should, very authentic.

3. The transformation mechanic is well implemented. At the end of the day, this particular feature will decide if this is a good game or not. Obviously, transformation is a big part of Transformers. If this isn't properly handled, then the quality of this game will suffer to no end. Thankfully, this is the highlight of War for Cybertron. The player can transform at will, and the motion is seamless and intuitive, not to mention just plain cool. The levels are specifically designed to incorperate transformation as a means of progression, so this isn't just a cheap gimmick laced novelty that wears off. It undoubtedly adds a layer of dynamic gameplay, that seperates itself from typical shooters.

4. Loyal fan service and proper character treatment make this a wonderful escape from the Michael Bay debacle.

CONS

1. This game offers no offline support outside of campaign mode. This is very disappointing, considering how plentiful online multiplayer is. There really should have been some "couch co-op", where you could play with your buddy in split screen. Instead, you are relegated to playing co-op with people you either don't know, or best case scenario... know but cannot play with them on the same system. This provides a far less intimate playing session, and ultimately less engaging. If there is a sequel, hopefully they can toss in at least one or two split screen modes! On a quick side note, there does seem to be a movement within the industry to focus solely on online multiplayer, and pretty much ignore offline. This really does suck, and i would like to go on record as saying so!

2. The third person shooter mechanics are half baked and under realized. The generic gunplay and limited weapon selection is tolerable, but the lack of a proper cover system is a huge oversight in my opinion.

3. While the levels are beautiful, the visuals can become rather repetitive, with little variation. I would have liked to have seen a more diverse color scheme. Although the character designs do redeem the "visuals" aspect of this game quite a bit.

Bottom Line:

If you are a gamer, and a Transformers fan. Then you should alreadly own this game, period.

This is by far the best Transformers game ever made.

ESPN NBA Basketball Review

ESPN NBA Basketball

A couple of months ago, I was sitting in my room playing NBA Live 2003, perfectly happy with the game that I had. It was simple, the graphics were pretty, and the game was generally fun. Then I met up with ESPN NBA Basketball. I was shocked at how much better it was than NBA Live 2003 or 2004. The sound was incredible, the gameplay was awesome, and the graphics were indescribably terrific! New this year is 24/7 mode, which will keep you busy well, 24/7. It lets you make a player, and then you go face to face with pros in all sorts of events, from normal 1-on-1, to Bomb Ball. You start out as a playground hotshot, and you build until you are the best streetball player out there! Trust me, this thing is a whole game in itself. What's even cooler is that it's run by your PS2's clock. At night, the courts and events change, and at night, you can play historic game, where you go up against legends like Larry Bird or Clyde Drexler. The streetball courts are awesome, and I think that this is better than the amazing NBA Street game by EA. Also, I was happy that all the rosters were updated, because I am a huge Denver Nuggets fan, and this year they have new uniforms and about halfof their team is new, including Carmelo Anthony and Andre Miller. The graphics and sound are the best ever in a sports game, and this is hands-down the best sports game ever made!

ESPN the world wide leader in sports.I love espn2K4 and now that it's july I still find myself playing through a franchise. The crossover moves are only difficult when you have a poor ballhandler.Live 2004 freestyle is in my opinion just about the same. You can get pass by using the crossover button instead of the right analog. The camera angles could've had a zoom though.

The only problem is the easy competition I go 82-0 in a season that's almost impossible.I've had close calls but that's about it the 24/7 is great once you have earned enogh points your stats will stay the same if you don't play.24/7 can be difficult but practice makes perfect and going head to head with a legend can be tough if your attributes are crap.Overall this game is better than NBA live to me and I'm waiting for 2K5. I really hope ESPN add another difficulty level I need the opponents to bring their A+ game!!!!!!!!

Best Deals for ESPN NBA Basketball

Well let me start off by saying this is by far the best overall basketball game I have ever played. It took last years game which in my opinion was the best game on the market at the time and made it even better. The game was virtually unmatched by any of the other 2004 basketball games when it came to extra modes such as 24/7 and street mode, and was really just in a league of it's own when it came to graphics, But there is always room for improvement and that's why I had to give this game a four because the game could have been better. First of all how can you have a game with Kareem Abdul-Jabar and not have any shot that even resembled a hook. Second how can you have a NBA Superstars team with no Michael Jordan I mean I know he's expensive but trust me he's worth every penny. The other things I would change are real small, for instance why not add in a few more dunks you can have the most realistic looking dunks but if the game repeats the same three dunks over and over again who ever is playing will eventually get board. Another real small thing is being able to edit players a little more. At least is my case I like to do a lot of trades to keep up with the updated NBA rosters and from time to time I'll trade for a guy and his number is already in use, so he'll end up with sum odd number like 63, I'd like to be able to just go in a pick a better number. But overall great game just keep on improving... Oh but wait there was just one more thing bothering me you couldn't find a single player better than Drazen Petrovic to be on the 90's east team? come on!

I purchased the Limited Edition version of Halo 3 that comes with a bonus disc of video, metal case with slip cover and small hard cover book with additional information on the game and its elements.

I would like to clarify that I did not have the original Xbox or get into Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2. I purchased an Xbox 360 as I believe to be the best choice for me for a gaming console, and I jumped right into the excitement over Halo 3. I rented Halos 1 and 2 to see if I would like them. I enjoyed both games, despite not finishing them completely prior to Halo 3's release. I even purchased both of those games. I completed about 75% of the first game and about 20% of the second. I just couldn't wait to solve both of them before playing the "next-gen" version. That being said, I am not as familiar with the Halo story or universe. I don't think this made too much of a difference in getting into Halo 3. I think one could get Halo 3 having never played the other games...granted you would wonder a little about the back story, but the game play would suck you in and forget about that until you finished the game. Now I am going back to play the first two games to completion. I know it's a little late, but now I am into the Halo thing...

I have played the game completely through on Normal. I did not think it was too short. I thought that I had solved the game twice, when in fact there were more levels and more story. I felt satisfied with the campaign aspect of the game (even compared to BioShock, Lost Planet, Prey and Gears of War). Now, I am going back through the game to collect the skulls for extra features and achievement points. The campaign was a little challenge for me on the normal difficulty...it wasn't too easy and not too hard. I was stuck in about 3 places that took a day to move on through by myself versus co-op play. Now if I try to play on Heroic or Legendary difficulty, I will have to call in a friend for support via co-op such as I did with Gears of War on Insane.

Graphically, this game is impressive. While the screen layout and the weapons are similar to the previous versions and seem very familiar, they are better graphically. The designers didn't completely overhaul the Halo gaming experience...just gave it a renovation similar to what one might see on a TV show about flipping a house...excuse the analogy, but I think it is a good way to describe the difference. The Halo universe is prettier and even more colorful with sharper lines and details. This game has wonderful scenery like the jungles in the beginning to the futuristic interior of bases and spaceships, or later in the game from the desert with sand dunes to snow covered mountains.

The online play is where this game really shines. The online matchmaking system is wonderful. You aren't thrown into a game with a group of die hard Halo fans where you get completely slaughtered...you are matched by your abilities in the game with players of similar attributes for a fun and even handed match. There are a number of game modes where you can play death match type free for alls or team based games such as capturing the enemy's territory. With the Forge aspect of the game the online play is editable and customizable to give this game a great deal of replay value for the online players out there.

I gave this Limited Edition 5 stars for fun, and I do believe it lives up to the hype. This is a solid game that one can play over and over and enjoy it as much if not more as time goes on. However, I gave it 4 stars for the game overall as the extra stuff that comes with this version is not high quality or quantity. The bonus disc really only features one making of documentary if you play all of the segments as one movie. It is fun to see all the time and effort that went into making this game, but after watching it I thought that's it? There should be some added features like maybe including some features from making the older two games, or some more footage as to where they are thinking they will go in the future with other games or characters. I was also hoping for some exclusive content like gamer pics, themes, etc. The metal case is very nice, but as with many others who have reported...my second bonus disc was scratched! The disc comes loose inside the case very easily. The plastic center holder does not fit snug enough on the disc to anchor it in a way that eliminates damage during shipment. Be careful when buying it...gently shake the box before checking out to see if there are loose discs. Make sure you grab one that does not sound like a box of Legos! I didn't have an option as I preordered mine. The disc was loose and it was scratched, but it played just fine.

Buy with confidence...this is a good solid first person shooter game that lives up to the hype of the "next-gen" console war. I would add that if you don't always watch the extra making of features or documentaries, you may want to just buy the regular version with the game disc only. If you are a huge Halo fan, then you probably already have the Legendary Edition with the helmet...or if you are still debating on which one to buy get the one with the helmet and all the goodies...they are in a better box that anchors the discs better...plus Master Chief's helmet sitting in your game room just looks impressive!

Since the days of Halo 1 & 2 on the original Xbox, I have found the Halo series slightly over hyped and somewhat boring. Especially when compared to other online FPS's such as Counter-Strike / Quake / Unreal. So you can rest assured, this review was not written by a Halo "fanboy" or fanatic.

Now in 2007, Halo 3 is finally upon us and all I can say is I now do "believe" this is the best in the Halo series and will live up to its hype.

Pros:

I think the absolute number one feature for Halo 3 is the online play A SOLID 10/10. It is incredibly stable, easy to use and it just plain works! Within 10 minutes of inserting the game disc, my buddy and I were squaring off in battle over XBOX live along with nearly half a million other players! Voice over IP is loud and clear with an occasional echo, no lagging or stalling even on release day! The interface is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure things will be even further improved over time by online patches and updates.

The graphics are a 9/10. I have seen better effects & textures (BioShock, BF 2142, etc.) but all in all, I am very pleased. (Note: I am running an Xbox 360 elite w/ HDMI on a LG 32" 1080i display)

I give the sounds effects and music a 8/10, nothing really mindblowing.

Fun factor is a perfect 10/10! It really is addicting.

Single player story mode works great too. Although it is not the true "focus" of the game, single player mode will provide great entertainment when you're seeking a change of pace. It's somewhat short, but has excellent replay value. And YES you can play to story mode online with friends!

Cons:

I honestly haven't yet found many flaws in the GAME itself. If I were to be picky, I would say the graphics and sound effects "could" be improved further. Also, due to numerous reports of scratched discs in the Limited Editions, Microsoft was careless in its packaging method. I would say 95% of all the LE versions have loose discs and are scratched. (my copy was perfect though because I purchased it locally at Be$t buy and gently shook all the cases to listen for loose discs.)

Halo 3 is a true winner for noobies and veterans of the Halo series period. I think this game will offer endless entertainment for quite some time and the Limited Edition is $70 well spent. You get quite a few extra goodies with the LE, such as a metal case, mini-hard cover book, and lots of extras on the bonus disc. For a mere $10 additional dollars, it is well worth it.

Just remember, you may want to purchase the Limited Edition in a retail store so you can listen for loose discs. With some careful searching, you can find one that does Not contain scratched discs.

Goodluck everyone and game on!

5 stars!

Best Deals for Halo 3 Limited Edition -Xbox 360

After loving the original Halo, and being somewhat disappointed with Halo 2, I did not know what to expect with Halo 3. I still, being a fan of the series decided that this game would be on my must have list regardless. I wasn't "dying" for the game to come out and in fact I actually missed the release date and ended up picking it up the day afterwards. After playing the game for a while I must say that I am very impressed with the game overall.

First things first, if you get the Limited Edition, then know that you run a HIGH chance of having damaged game CD's due to the poor case design. Luckily in my case, the only CD that was damaged was the "Essentials CD", but still with me paying $70 for a game I would have liked to have both CD's in new condition. In any case Microsoft realized the issue and decided to replace all damaged Halo 3 CD's free of charge for the next few months.

With that out of the way let's get to the actual game.

When I first started playing the game, I thought it was going to be another disappointment like Halo 2 was, and ended up finding another great game, Bio Shock more fun to play. However after progressing further in the game, I am finding Halo 3 to be nearly as fun as the original. One reason of this is because of the new weapons, and vehicles. In addition you, Master Chief, no longer have to be driving a vehicle (with the exception of the scorpion). So if you want to man the turret on the warthog, while your computer controlled teammates drive, you can do it, same hold true for most every vehicle in the game. This makes things very interesting and fun. One of my favorite new vehicles in the game is the Hornet. My first air battle with this machine was an absolute blast. I enjoyed flying over beautiful scenery shooting down banshees while two of my squad mates sit outside on jump seats supporting me with fire of their own. I was having such a good time just admiring the scenery, I decided to fly the hornet high in the air and jump out mid flight into the sparkling ocean below. It was a looooong way down and needless to say I died, but boy it sure was fun.

Flying the Hornet allowed me to appreciate the incredible detail of the graphics on this game. In HD, the graphics are stunning. Whether it's walking through the jungles, flying through the air or scaling snow covered mountains, everything looks amazingly real. Aside from the detailed scenery, the characters themselves are also done very well. Characters move, attack and even die realistically. Its things like this that separate the average FPS's from the great ones.

I also am very pleased with the audio. This game boasts true surround sound and if you already haven't then I highly suggest getting an optical sound cable to experience the movie like experience from you're A/V receiver. Many gun sounds have that "punch" that I was missing in Halo 2. The grunts usually are the first ones to die, and for a little comic relief, many times you'll hear them saying things like "He killed my friend", or "How will I go on with him?" In addition to the exceptional in game sound, the soundtrack itself is very well done. Very often, after I finish playing for the night, I often leave the game on the main screen just so I can hear the music on the title screen.

The controls in Halo 3 are still quite intuitive with only a small complaint; in many other FPS games, the reload button is often the X button, but not in Halo 3. In Halo 3, the X button is the "Equipment" button. So whenever you pick up items like auto turrets, bubble shields or radar jammers, if you are not careful you may accidentally use them instead of doing what you really wanted to do. In Halo 3, LB and RB reload the weapon, and I suppose this was done to accommodate dual wielding, which is back in this game. In addition to the two standard grenades from the previous installments, Halo 3 has a couple of more grenades types; one is called the Spike Grenade, and the other...well I'll leave that up to you to find out; it wasn't in the manual so I was quite surprised when I picked one up during campaign mode. In addition to the equipment I already mentioned, there are lots of others.

As good as the single player is I must say that I am quite impressed with the multiplayer mode. If you know me I am not a big fan of playing online, but one night I decided to try my luck at Halo 3 on XBOX Live....and let's just say, I didn't get to bed until 5 in the morning. First off this game runs very smoothly online with no noticeable degradation in the graphics or performance and I haven't once encountered a laggy game. Best of all the game is very playable online, and not the chaotic mindless shoot fest that I experienced with Unreal Tournament. This was my first time playing online in a long time and I even ended up winning a Slayer match. One thing that makes this game playable online is that nearly every weapon either has a weakness or a counter thanks to the additional of the new equipment items. Sure the insanely good players will mop up the floor with people like me, but its still very fun playing just because it just seems fair. Games like Capture the Flag which proves to be nothing but a disaster in Unreal Tournament, is a true pleasure to play in Halo 3. And hey, if this game is good enough to allow ME to enjoy online games, then it must be pretty darn good.

In my opinion Halo 3 does not disappoint one bit. It was a slow starter, but now that I am finally somewhat deep into the game, I must say that I am enjoying this game VERY much. It's a blast to play both in campaign mode and in addition the online play will be sure to keep me playing this game long after I have beaten campaign mode multiple times. Other than the small issue with the controls, I can't find anything else really wrong with this game. On a 10 point scale, I'll give this a 9.7. While Bio Shock (another 5 star game IMO) is definitely more original and just as fun, Halo 3 is the best of the breed when it comes to your "typical" shooter, and the added fun one can have playing it online make it 5 stars in the fun category. This is a great game across the board.

Honest reviews on Halo 3 Limited Edition -Xbox 360

This game truly re-captured the spirit of the first game's campaign mode. If you were let down by Halo 2's campaign, fear not, HALO 3 makes up for it in spades! Playing campaign with 3 friends is also amazing. Also, if you're in it for the multi-player, you won't be disappointed. The new maps are great, and the weapons are well balanced and it seems like they might have a new solution for laggers with a "new host select" option when it starts to lag a bit. So far it's been great! Okay, off to collect more skulls and finish it in Legendary mode.

---

It's finally here! After what seemed like decades, Forza Motorsport 4 is now available, much to the delight of video game and car enthusiasts everywhere. Given how great Forza 3 was, could Forza 4 be even better?

The answer is, well... yes.

Forza 4 is everything the third was, and more. More cars, more manufacturers, more racers online (16-players!), and, although not TOO many more, more tracks. I could make this review be 5,000 words long, but rather than do that, I'll try to make it relatively short. This game's incredible. I already said that, didn't I? Aw... but seriously. The World Tour mode is absolutely brilliant, and makes the single-player more fun to play, whereas in Forza 3 at least in my opinion the game was much better online. The only real downfall in World Tour is that, although the A.I. is SUPPOSED to get better or worse depending on your playing abilities, it doesn't work all that well, and you'll breeze through half the career or so with no trouble at all if you're a somewhat competant driver. The best thing about the World Tour, is that you unlock cars each time you level up. And now you're likely saying, "Hey. Idiot. We could do that in Forza 3." But this time? You get a selection of normally between 2 and 5 cars to pick, and let me tell you, a lot of the time you are going to rip your hair out trying to decide which car you want. Lamborghini, Ferrari, or McLaren. Hm...

Also in the single-player is the all-new Autovista mode, which allows you to take a look at a handful of the game's hottest cars, inside and out. Not only do you get some random British guy giving you information, you also get a bit of commentary from Top Gear's own Jeremy Clarkson, and lucky for us, Turn 10 didn't give him a script to read he's as Jeremy-ish as ever. I should also let you know that to get the cars available in Autovista, you have to complete single-player tasks, so you can't turn your 360 on, go to Autovista, and check out Halo's Warthog right out of the gate. As a matter of fact, it'll take you quite a long while before being able to check that thing out. Autovista isn't going to be for everyone I for one find it pretty cool, but I wouldn't check out a car more than once, but there are some people that will spend quite a bit of time drooling in it, and then another group of people that will find it completely and utterly boring.

That sums up the single-player in a nutshell, really. Given that the game hasn't been released at the time of this review, I'm unable to review the multiplayer effectively, so I'll add that in at a later date. How's the game look? How does it sound? Let me just say that this is the best looking game I've ever seen on a video game console ... it's CAR PORN at its finest, and the sound only enhances it. While Forza Motorsport 3 had some cars that sounded sort of "meh," Forza 4 is just insane that's really the only way I can think to describe it. The tire squeeling, the engines reving, the gears shifting, all of it is pretty much unbelievable. The one downfall is the soundtrack, which I believe would be more at home in an arcade racer, not a simulation game like Forza.

I've already said it probably half a dozen times, but Forza Motorsport 4 is THE GAME for fans of cars. With so many cars and more to come in the way of downloadable content over the months, there is something for anybody with a pulse. This review was quite brief, as I didn't want to explain every single little thing in the game, but I think I got the point across I have a gut feeling this game will be my Game of the Year, and I've yet to play Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, or anything like that yet. Yeah. It's that good.

---

Pros:

Several hundred cars with plenty of more coming in the months following release.

Improved everything, as you'd expect car physics are more realistic than ever.

16-player online racing.

Cons:

Only five new tracks, and developer Turn 10 isn't guaranteeing there will be more in the future as DLC.

No Porsche due to licensing issues, although a few RUFs are available. (It's rumored that Porsche may be downloadable content after EA's exclusitivity rights expire in December.)

No weather effects or night racing.

1967 Dodge Cornet W023

1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock

1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt

That about wraps it up.

Personally I'm enjoying the game, and I feel like all its good qualities have been hit over and over again with the nearby 5 star reviews. The physics, vehicle detail, sounds, replays, and options available (down to even multi screen usage [on a 360 title! Nice!]) in this game make it worth the price of purchase alone.

With that said, since the highs would seem rather obvious on this point, I do have some minor issues.

Weather effects: The lighting effects in this game are a step above Forza 3 from the small bit I've played (of Forza 3). Consequently that creates a more immersive atmosphere by taking one step closer to photo realism in vehicle visuals. I applaud them for this, but simultaneously I would have really appreciated a step larger.

By that, I wish they could incorporate a a server based weather system. Where time continually changes, with weather effects. I'd like to be racing a long endurance race that starts at 11AM, starting with partly cloudy skies just above but a storm nearby coming in from the east. By the time I ran my 50th lap, maybe I see some lightning, maybe it's a light rain changing my racing strategy, maybe it's more. Unfortunately you won't experience this, the planet doesn't turn, so the sun doesn't shift regardless of how long your race takes. In the end it makes the beautiful lighting I spoke about before feel static, not dynamic. I'm glad they improved the visuals of the vehicles overall but a weather altering feature would have been phenominal.

Also note that you will not have any wet races or the option to choose it in free ride mode. From what I've seen so far the sun always shines.

Interior view: I think the interior view actually works this game overall. Many games in the past I drove exclusively in the 3rd person perspective; there was always something wrong I couldn't put my finger on with other titles. Forza 4 got it right and I haven't driven in 3rd person perspective yet. My only issue is with the inability to customize this view in minor ways. Give me the option to adjust my mirrors in the very least and I have no issues. However, here you can't do so, and inevitably that means you'll often find that looking to the side mirror on the opposite end of your driving position, is pointless. I can't see out of it at all to any useable fashion. This is just a bit bothersome to me when someone is to my opposite side, but behind me enough so that I can't see them from looking directly out the window, but can't see them from my rear view mirror position either.

A.I.: This is my largest complaint with the product (and it isn't a huge negative overall), not because I'm not any good as I've won all of my races so far. Here's the deal, overall it's great when you're mid pack on a track and it's hard to get around your opponents. That's how I feel it should be, as in real life I don't believe it's a cake walk to pass your enemies. But, there is a problem with civilian drivers during some "events". The A.I seems to follow a brake line completely for the most part, ALL the artificial intelligence. For example, you will have rival races where you have to beat them to the finish point and traffic is enabled. The travelers however don't drive like normal people just commuting along a street. They take corners like they're competing for the best times (while driving at a slow speed), and on straights they don't tend to drive straight. The result is little A.I. civilians who appear to be driving against you and it makes these races tedious, I don't like having to scratch my car because [1]I can't honk a horn to let them know I'm coming, [2]they don't use blinkers, [3]they just change lanes randomly for absolutely no reason, and [4]they aren't aware of anything. You will literally have your rival fly by a car on it's right side, and you'll take the same route less than a second behind just to have the car change lanes out of nowhere, and if you squeeze by on it's side with a strong drift, the car doesn't take notice and swirve back, they just keep on going, running into you if slow down too much. It's like they're a train on train tracks refusing to stop, all set on a warped set path and deviating for nothing less than a heavy slam from your car into their rear end. The problem lies on straights and turns, they are worse than actual racers, and the fact that they drive so slow but turn like with a racing line makes them no more than unrealistic nuances stuck in the middle of a superb game. The easiest way to win these modes without hitting anyone on the first try? Turn your break lines on, and when you drive, never follow the line if a car is around, because it'll take the exact same line you're "hinted" to, which will result in a car accident 50% of the time. This is one area where Test Drive outclassed Forza in realism, and that's in it's civilian A.I. drivers.

As for the RACERS, I think overall the developers did fantastic. However, I have factually experienced a rubberbanding effect which I call "Mario Kartism". Where if you're in the lead, the game does what it can to handicap the others UP to bring you DOWN in the placing (and thus it's usually the best strategy in Mario Kart games to remain in close second until you're nearing the end).

Here one example I experienced:

A class race in my Bently. First place for most of the race with not a lot of problems, except one. There is a Ferrari who's close on my tail from the start, everyone else is a fair distance behind. Last lap and I'm growing a tad tired of the Ferrari, I make one 2-bar turn and it gets a jump on me. In my frustration (and I rarely do this) I pit the Ferrari, and it ends up backwards and off the track. I'm moving along just fine but now out of nowhere there is a single yellow Corvette behind me, in the same position as the Ferrari. Maybe it was having an EXTREMELY good lap, I don't know, so even though he was pretty darn far behind and I was having a surpurb final lap before and after pitting that Ferrari (minus the one less than optimal turn that caused the Ferrari to almost squeeze past) I accepted it fine and moved on. But wouldn't you know, before the lap was even finished the Ferrari was back. How on Earth did that car all of a sudden recover from that and regain all that ground ahead of everyone else to finish in close 3rd? All of a sudden his breaks become unbelievable and his acceleration more exceptional than it was to begin with? My Bently was tuned and modified by me and before this I was running the A.I. like Lance Armstrong. It absolutely made no sense, the computer was keeping up with me that race for the sake of being able to. Races like this are extremely rare, and I love close races, BUT not when it's close because the game alters its scripts to make it close (like Madden's 3rd quarter comeback alterations back in Madden 01-02)

-Minor: Some wheels can fit on cars they wouldn't ever fit on, for instance, 6 lug cars running 5 lug wheels. Anti-Aliasing doesn't seem to exist in races (I think it's set to 2X however 4X is an optimal goal to remove "jaggies" at 720P in my opinion), however that is more to blame on the console's aging hardware. No ability that I've seen to import music so that I can have both the music in game (that I like) and other songs that I have in mp3 format, the abilty to change your "station" by clicking down a thumb stick or something in endurance races would have been a nice feature to me.

Other than that the game is phenominal and well worth the money I spent. It is however unfortunate that I cannot be like my fellow mates here by giving this a full 5/5 stars, which is as close to perfection as it gets. If you're on the fence about this game, try the demo because it's currently free on the Marketplace. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Feel free to express any thoughts by leaving a comment, liking, or disliking this review.

Cheers, and good racing.

PS I haven't dove strongly into online races yet, but I am apart of a club and have been to the auction house. So far it's looking great, but I won't be able to further dive into it until a later date (responsibilities restrict play time). Lastly, if you owned Forza 3 you will proportionally receive credits and cars depending on your level in that game which is pretty neat.

Upon receiving this game in the early evening, I decided to install disc 2 and 1 (My xbox is elderly), and download all the included DLC. While doing so I got my kid in bed and got myself a shower. I begin playing the game around 9pm... ...Next thing I know the sun is peaking in through my window. That's right I played this game for somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 hours on my first go, and didn't even realize it! I was just simply focused on racing, and winning, and having the time of my video gaming life! The game really is that awesome!

Now I haven't played GT5 because I don't have a PS3 yet this gen, but I had played every GT game before PS3 and I just have to say, this game is leaps and bounds more fun than any of those games! The sense of speed is spot on! I even noticed myself clenching my butt, and death gripping my controller, as I reached some of the greater speeds in some of the super-cars. That being said this game begs for a driving wheel, my legs would not sit still as I played because the game play has such a degree of realism that it just felt natural for them to be controlling the gas and break. Unfortunately xbox has a very poor selection of race wheels within my budget. This means that I will have to save my money for one of the expensive premium wheels from Fanatec. I have no doubt I will be the most happy with one of their quality wheels in the long run anyway, instead of a cheap MadCatz wheel or used 360 wheel.

The game is huge. Did I mention I played for 10 hours the first night? Well I'm only 1.1% through the World Tour, which is the main career option. I have no doubt that I will still be working on 100% by the time the next generation of consoles hits the shelves. I am also surprised to say that this game WILL be competing for game time with Skyrim (RPGs are my genre of choice and Skyrim is THE RPG), and I have no doubt it will win a lot of the time, the game is that fun!

I also went through and unlocked all of the current Autovista cars which unlocks the Halo Warthog in Autovista, but unfortunately you can't drive it... Yet. Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear gives you his usually humorous overview of each car in the Autovista, and some other British guy gives more detail on areas of the car you explore. Autovista is nice but not really something you will be using all the time, but it is awesome for showing off the amazing visuals to friends.

So to sum this up, if you are thinking of getting this gem of a racer, stop thinking and 'race' to the store and scoop it up! It will NOT disappoint! Plus the first wave of Forza 4 comes with a code to get more DLC cars, and if you can find a Limited Collector's Edition, it comes with even more bonus DLC cars.

Honest reviews on Forza Motorsport 4 Limited Edition -Xbox 360

This game is really just better in pretty much every area than the already great Forza Mostorsport 3. If you like cars, racing games and Top Gear, you should get your hands on one of these. It is worth it.

Also, Rival mode is incredibly addictive. Beware!

WOW!!! what a great game,so realistic than ever before. CPU are much better now. Online play has more variety. I think they should have put more new cars instead of the old ones we don't drive much. Same goes to the tracks..

Autovista is cool, but only certain cars, wish it was all cars and we can start our own engine up. Overall great game, the limited edition gives me more cars. I LOVE IT!
