I'm not generally into fighting games, but I've been a casual Tekken fan since I played the second iteration on PlayStation. The series is far more than a button masher; it's known for instant accessibility, large move lists and fighter rosters, demanding combos, well-balanced and memorable characters, a huge variety of fighting styles, catchy music, and a quirky "story" that doesn't take itself seriously. It's not known for invention, and there's hardly anything new to be found in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. But perhaps that's ok since the developers stuck with what they knew and created the best Tekken experience to date.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 bosts a roster of over 50 fighters, and additional characters are available as free DLC. Surprisingly, every character and game mode is available to you right from the start.

At first glance the number of modes and options is staggering. You'll find:

-Ranked Match

-Player Match

-World Arena

-Team

-Tekken Channel

-Leaderboards

Offline Mode

-Arcade Battle

-Ghost Battle

-Vs Battle

-Team Battle

-Time Attack

Unless you're a hardcore fighter, you'll be spending most of your time offline. Arcade Battle gets stale fast; it's a 9 or 10 match story mode that allows you to unlock characters' ending movies and earn money with which you can purchase character customizations. This doesn't sound so bad, except that the final battle is unfairly difficult on the easiest setting (which will frustrate amateurs), there's no option to continue with your current character(s) when you die (you can continue, but you'll be taken back to the character select screen every time), the matches do not change based on the characters you use like in previous Tekken games, and you can earn unlockables much faster by playing Ghost Battle. Ghost Battle lets players choose between three ranked matches and earn money or unlockables upon completion. You can exit after any battle, and this grind mode is oddly the meat of the single-player experience.

Once you get online, which takes an online pass included with new copies of the game and a significant amount of load time, you can host or join a Ranked Match (your statistics are saved in an online database and match wins upgrade your title or rank), an unranked Player Match (a practice mode that doesn't save your statistics), play in World Arena against others that live on your continent, or do a Team battle (a team can only be created or joined by going to the World Tekken Federation website). These modes are hard! You'll run into very talented players who will take you down fast, but it can be a welcome change to fighting the computer.

Fight Lab is a humorous five chapter minigame and tutorial that follows a character named Violet and his development of Combot, a robot trained to fight. You play as Combot and earn money to unlock new moves. It's not as unique as Tekken Ball, Tekken Force, Tekken Bowl, or Devil Within, but it is fun and challenging, plus you can use your move-customized Combot in other game modes! The downside is that this tutorial barely scratches the gameplay surface, and newcomers will finish the mode with far more questions than answers.

Customize lets you purchase and equip items and mods to your characters' appearances. Many of the options must first be unlocked, usually through Ghost Battle. There's a ton of variety here and frequently items have color customizations as well. Unfortunately items for sale that are the same across multiple characters must be purchased for each character individually, and saving up enough money to do so will take a long time. Loading times to view the items you want to purchase or equip are sadly quite long and items seem to be unlocked randomly and without specification (that is, you may be told you unlocked two items upon completion of a match but you won't be told exactly what the items are; you have to go into Customize and figure it out yourself). At least the character models and clothing options look fantastic.

Tekken Tunes allows you to change the audio for specific levels and loading screens. You can even add your own music to the game that's been saved on your Xbox. This is a good thing because so much of the new music is boring! I rarely find myself saying that about Tekken music, but it's really unmemorable this time around. To make matters better (or worse, depending), there is paid DLC that lets you purchase and use the music from previous Tekken games (that you have to pay extra for the content is unfortunate since game director Katsuhiro Harada claimed there would be no paid DLC if he had anything to do with it). Gallery simply lets you watch the typically short, hit-or-miss movies that you've unlocked. Newcomers will not understand many of the videos, but it's not such an issue since the movies that truly shine are the humorous ones that anyone can get. Prepare to be underwhelmed by the Mishima family cinematics, like those of Jinpachi, Kazuya, Jun, and Jin. Tiger Jackson, for reasons beyond me, is the only character without a movie (he's also one of two characters, along with Unknown, to lack unique outfit customizations). If you want to learn more about the fighters, you can watch the ending movies from the past games, but these also come in the form of paid DLC! Serioiusly, Namco? I get that you want to make more money, but what happened to the days of games that came packed with features from the beginning? And, more importantly, how do you expect to get newcomers interested in the game if the story doesn't make sense and the characters come across as personality-less brawlers? Releasing the videos as free unlockables would have made more sense.

Some final notes: level design is excellent with its colorful backgrounds and breakable walls/floors/balconies (though it's hard to explore given the game mechanics and quick nature of the battles), difficulty level seems meaningless once you start to level up your characters (ranking up happens naturally by playing the game and winning matches, and enemy difficulty seems to be based more on rank than on the difficulty setting), characters are exceptionally well-balanced, and tagging between characters is smooth and tremendously fun, especially when you pull off tag combos. This is one heck of a party game since two teams of two can play offline on one console.

In short, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 makes the original, which was a worthy fighter until now, obsolete, and it is the most solid Tekken game ever created. The music is disappointing, there are some long load times, Ghost Battle is a lackluster grind to unlock new items, the unlockables system is randomized and not intuitive, Arcade Battle is wasted potential, and the difficulty levels are questionable. But despite all of these things TTT2 is still one of the best fighters I have ever played for its fluid gameplay and sheer variety of characters, fighting styles, moves, and customizations. If you are new to Tekken or fighting games, however, this may not be the best place to start.

This is a must have for any fan of the Tekken series as we now re-experience the thrill of tag team fighting. Overall the game isn't much different from Tekken 5 or six though this time you get the entertainment of hearing most of the characters speaking the language of their country rather then a few of them, meaning the character Lili speaks french rather then British and Leo speaks German rather then English and so on. The graphics of the game are somewhat superior to Tekken 6 but not overly much most times you'll notice more of the improvements in the background rather then the characters. As for the gameplay controls those obviously and thankfully have stayed the same so no worries about learning new buttons to pull off combos and the like.

So for fans of the series or those just looking for a good fighting game here's a great series to start trying out or for those who already have the previous games another one to add to your gaming library.

Wireless Wii U Pro Controller to PC USB Adapter Reviews

Wireless Wii U Pro Controller to PC USB Adapter
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Purchased this on a whim along with the PS3 version and so far I am extremely impressed. Install drivers > plug in adapter > sync controller, DONE. (I used on Windows 8.1 system with Steam Big Picture and other non steam games, all worked flawlessly.)

You can toggle between D/Xinput on the adapter though I've mostly only used the Xinput. The computer will recognize the controller as an Xbox 360 controller which is great, but also brings me to the one drawback I found. Even though it is recognized as an XBOX 360 controller, the ABXY mapping is Nintendo's version, not the standard XBox 360 placement. This throws me off enough in some games that I am using the Dualshock 3 controller + adapter instead (which maps the same as an XBOX 360 controller.)

If Mayflash releases a driver that will allow the user to change the ABXY mapping, this would definitely be my wireless controller of choice for PC gaming.

Alright guys, I got my Wii U Pro Controller adapter a while ago and played with it for quite a bit. Here are my impressions:

1 First off, it comes with the adapter itself and a mini-CD with the drivers on it or you can download them from Mayflash's website. Installation takes only a few moments and then you are ready to sync.

2 Hit the sync button on your Wii U Pro Controller of choice and hit the sync button on the adapter and the Player 1 light on the controller will stay light.

3 Every single button works flawlessly including the home button (see below) and the power button (if held down for 2 secs, it will turn the controller off!) and to wake the controller back up, hit any button and its ready to go again :)

4 The adapter has a switch on it which allows you to make the PC see it as two different types of controllers: Xinput and Direct

A The xinput setting tricks the computer making it see the controller as a 360 controller so it seems like most games will immediately switch the controller layout to a 360 flawlessly. Every single button works including the Home button like for an example: On a GFWL game it will bring up the Xbox Live Menu or if you are on Steam, it will switch it over to Big Screen Mode. But be warned, the layout on the controller matches the button letters on a 360 controller. So the A button on the Wii U is the A button on the 360 controller, which if you know anything about each controller, they are in different spots. It happens to work out just fine bc X/A on a 360 controller is near the right joystick and on the Wii U Pro X/A even though in different positions, happens to be right next the joystick as well so it works just fine. Also, you can be using xinput and also be using a 360 controller for the another player and both work perfect (and the player # lights match up correctly)!

B Direct mode works completely different. When switch to this setting Windows will see the Wii U Pro as a generic controller like something from Logitech or MadCatz. If you go to your Device Manager you can see the controller (labeled under Mayflash Adapter) and it is fully functional but now all the buttons are labeled as Button 1, 2, 3 ect. So anways, With this setting turned on, and once a game is launched, none of the keybinds are bound to the controller so you must use the keyboard and mouse and go to options and set each keybind in game to a button of your choice. I tried this on Skyrim, Tomb Raider, & LEGO Lord of the Rings and it worked but its not as convenient, but it would allow you to modify the controls unlike if you were using a 360 controller. Also apparently, using direct mode would allow you to connect up to 4 Wii U Pro controllers using one adapter but I haven't tried this yet.

So what do I think of it? Its absolutely perfect. Installation is super simple and even faster. Turning the controller on and off works perfect and after playing wiith it in Tomb Raider, Skyrim, LEGO games, Batman Arkham City, Dark Souls, Darksiders, Castlevania, and even Need for Speed, I truly had no problems with it at all with the exception of getting use to a slightly different controller layout. It works exactly as advertise! I personally think Xinput mode is the way to go if you want to make it fast and simple but direct mode is also great if you are into binding your own button layout to your liking.

For around $20-25, I totally recommend this adapter if you love the Wii U Pro Controller like I do! I

Very easy to install and works well. I tried the turbo mode feature, just experimenting and it works nicely. When I held home and held a button, it set it into an auto fire mode. Not sure if this is an undocumented feature or a glitch in the program I was using.

I'm very happy with this product and would buy it again.

So I am the kind of person who likes to come home after a long day and drive trucks around. For me it is relaxing and it takes a lot of stress away. Well for me to be satisfied, the game needs to be realistic. This game meets that expectation. The people at SCS have come a long way from 18 wheels of steel convoy (the first game I bought from them). The game engine is great for this simulator. The graphics are sharp and will keep you exploring the world. The truck that you will be driving is a Scania R series. There is a lot of detail to it and its a fun drive. Here is where one of my complaints come in. You cannot get a different truck. I liked being able to buy different trucks and customizing them but I have not found a place to do that and I don't think there is one. I also do not like the fact that there is no large map view. I used to look at a large map of the game and see where I wanted to drive to and what I wanted to haul. Hauling loads has changed too. On your mini map display you go to these green dots and find a trailer there. You then hook up to the trailer knowing nothing about the job really except the name of the place you are going to. When you attach the trailer a checkered dot appears on your mini map and you have to find a way to get there. (you cannot look at a large map to find the best route because there is no large map. Only a mini map.) Well I have done a lot of complaining but I haven't really gotten to the good. Besides free-roaming there are other options in the main menu. In the menu you have:

Driving License: This is where you can take lessons on how to drive your truck with a trailer. This is very helpful if you are like me and have never driven a real truck in your life. It helps you learn how to handle a truck and trailer while maneuvering through an obstacle course and how to back up your trailer while avoiding cones.

Driver Competition: This is where you can compete in events that require a high level of skill. You will be performing maneuvers in an obstacle course (This is very fun but also very challenging!)

Dangerous Drives: This will test your skill when in dangerous situations. The situations range from driving next to a cliff, to a flooded road filled with debris, to a tight ally with parked cars, to an unmaintained bridge that is falling apart, and more. These are very fun are good practice.

Freeform Driving: This one is simple. This is open world driving where you can deliver a variety of cargo and explore the environment.

Time Reaction Test: This will test your reaction time on a closed course. Each test will get harder and you will have to be on the edge of your game because something could pop out at any time.

Overall this is a great game with amazing graphics and fun challenges that will keep you entertained.

OMG this simulator is superb good.. never ever seen one like this.. i highly recommend this to everyone who love simulator games. only problem i got with this simulator is there is no problem.. Best Deals for Scania Truck Driving Simulator - PC

During the summer, SCS Software was supposed to release their what I call "big project", aka Euro Truck Simulator 2, in the summer. In August. But, they couldn't meet that deadline, so instead they released this game. And I've gotta say, they sure have come a long way since Trucks & Trailers. That is one of the very few SCS Software games that I DIDN'T buy. I hated it, every part of it. I was concerned about Euro Truck Simulator because I feared it would be just like it. But fortunately, they released this game which gave me more than a little bit of hope. This game is nothing less than AMAZING!!! It really is. SCS has clearly worked hard on it. Here's a list of the things that really make this game stand out:

Compared to German Truck Simulator or Trucks and Trailers, the physics in this game are nice. You can actually drive without skidding all over the road or crashing into the guardrails. Don't get me wrong, GTS was good, but not even close to this game. It feels so realistic when you're inside truck, speeding along the road. The engine sounds so real, for those of you who don't know it is a real recording from a real truck. That alone makes it a pleasure to drive the truck.

License from Scania. This whole game is Scania-themed, and while I've never seen one in person, it looks like Scanias are amazing trucks. It was really good of SCS to get a license from them instead of using the Swift brand that they usually use. This also makes driving nicer.

The fact that the transmission works like a real automatic (where you have to switch to the reverse gear, not press the reverse pedal). It's so easy to set up; and is something that I felt the games were always missing. By the way, the menus are all nice and attractive and easy to work with. The main menu music is inviting, nothing too crazy, but nothing dull either.

The dangerous drives are a true challenge. Some of them will have you on the edge of your chair as you drive past some of the craziest scenes ever seen in a trucking game. From navigating through a crowded backstreet to twisting down a curvy mountain road to picking up a trailer at a rock concert, you've got so many challenges to try. Be sure to update to the latest version of the game (it will tell you in the profile screen) because SCS has added quite a few new drives.

The city that SCS has crafted that is full of trailers to be delivered is beautiful. A great city to drive in, so realistic. In the latest version, a new section is added to the city, which is also very nice. SCS has really put a lot of effort into giving their fans everything they can. I've spent hours and hours making deliveries here.

Just with the city alone, this could be a game. The fact that there are dangerous drives and reactions tests and European challenges (based on real ones), and more, this game has a lot of content that will keep you busy for a while. You don't even have to have a high-end computer to enjoy this game. It looks good on mid-range too, very good. The graphics never cease to amaze me, I just played the game for a while and loved every minute of it. When I bought this game, I never expected to get so much out of it. I've never seen a small company like SCS Software do so many updates to their games like they have. If you want a game that's worth every cent, buy this one. Don't worry about it spoiling Euro Truck Simulator 2, because they are definitely different games. I won't be getting that game until Christmas, and I'm so glad I have a game like this to hold me over until then!

Honest reviews on Scania Truck Driving Simulator - PC

A lot better than I expected. It has it's flaws, but what game doesn't? They have released updates, and will continue to do so from what they say. Great graphics, but needs a fast comp to really benefit. There is a modding community. This is the only truck-sim worth looking at, nothing compares. A keeper, look forward to add-ons in the future.

I would recommend as a first time trucking if you plan to play any of the Euro truck games. The challenge part of the game is the best part, this part will really test you. I bought it for my 9 year old son and he loves it.

Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii Reviews

Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
Just Dance was a revolution in dancing games. Before it, most dance games just consisted of moving your hands or stomping your feet to an on-screen cue. Just Dance was the first game to incorporate real dance moves to choreographed steps.

Dance on Broadway plays pretty much the same as Just Dance. It retains most of its features, both positive and negative.

You follow one of four silhouetted on-screen characters, mirroring their moves as they dance.

There are also icons that scroll across the bottom of the screen that tell you what moves are coming up (basically, what "pose" you should be hitting when the icon hits the arrow). Honestly, I didn't find this as useful as simply mimicking the on-screen characters themseves, but I'm guessing over time once you memorize what the icons mean it'll help you perfect your performance.

Up to four players can play at the same time. Like Just Dance, this makes for a ton of fun with friends or family.

Each player holds one Wii remote. No nunchuk, no second remote, no MotionPlus is used. This is good in that it simplifies things and there are no cables to get tangled up in. It's not-so-good, as Dance on Broadway still suffers from a lack of precision in motion tracking.

In addition, Dance on Broadway adds a few neat enhancements that its predecessor did not have.

The casting of the four characters matches the song. For example, for "One Night Only", there are four African American women which allows you to live out your dream of being one of the "Dreamgirls". For "Aquarius", there's a nice mix of hippy guys and girls.

The choreography is more detailed. For some of the songs, each of the characters has their own individual dance steps resulting in a pretty cool and fully choreographed Broadway routine when four people are playing together.

The precision of the motion tracking is a little better than before, but still leaves a lot to be desired. Still, as before it's so fun learning the dance steps that you don't really care (I was thrilled with my "70%" accuracy, even though I knew it was really closer to 90%). They do give the advice to hold the remote firmly in your right hand, which I found helped.

The songs are decidedly less "intense" than the ones in Just Dance. The songs are rated by "difficulty" and "effort", but in all honesty, even the most difficult songs were pretty simple. So it's not as good a workout game as its predecessor, but more suited for those of us who have always dreamed of being on Broadway.

There's the option to turn vocals off, meaning you can not only dance, but you can also sing along with the words.

Here's a complete list of songs, the shows they're from, and their rating of Difficult / Effort in parentheses:

All That Jazz from All That Jazz (1/2)

Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In from Hair (1/1)

Bend and Snap from Legally Blond (2/3)

Cabaret from Cabaret (3/2)

Dreamgirls from Dreamgirls (1/2)

Fame from Fame-The Musical (1/3)

Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray (1/1)

I Just Can't Wait to Be King from The Lion King (2/2)

Luck Be a Lady from Guys and Dolls (3/2)

Little Shop of Horrors from Little Shop of Horrors (2/3)

Lullaby of Broadway from 42nd Street (2/2)

Money, Money from Cabaret (3/3)

My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music (1/2)

One Night Only from Dreamgirls (3/3)

Roxie from Chicago (1/2)

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins (2/3)

Thoroughly Modern Millie from Thoroughly Modern Millie (3/3)

Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Show (3/3)

We're in the Money from 42nd Street (2/3)

You Can't Stop the Beat from Hairspray (2/2)

In short, while I gave Just Dance 5 stars, I'll give this one 4 mainly because I would have liked to see Ubisoft improve the motion tracking more than they did, as well as include more cardio-intensive choreography. Still, it's a solid title which I definitely recommend. There are a lot of titles coming in the next few months like Ubisoft's Gold's Gym Dance Workout, Majesco's Zumba for Wii, and Konami's Dance Dance Revolution which will also focus on real dance moves. I definitely commend Ubisoft for starting this trend, and hope between these companies they can really perfect the motion controls and get the world dancing :)

Are you the kind of person that can't listen to a Broadway soundtrack without tapping your foot and bopping out in your chair? Do you want to get some exercise without even realizing you're working? If you're anything like me, I think you'll like this game. Remember the dancers in the Broadway hit, "Fame", dancing their hearts out to that great song? Or the dancers in "All That Jazz" doing that cool tap dancey thing? Well, this isn't quite as complicated as all that but its lots of movement and fairly easy choreography that you follow along with while the Wiimote records your moves. You can play with up to four people. You choose one of four characters that you would like to be at the beginning, when you choose the song. There are 20 songs, some of which are:

* "All That Jazz"

* "Aquarius"

* Caberet

* Luck Be a Lady

* Lullaby of Broadway

* "Bend and Snap"

* "One Night Only"

* "Dreamgirls"

* "Time Warp"

* "Fame"

* "We're in the Money"

* "Let The Sunshine In"

* "You Can't Stop the Beat"

* "Little Shop of Horrors Theme"

* My Favorite Things

* And there's more....

The idea of the game is to follow your chosen dancer, like in a mirror image, with dance, rhythm and arm movements. One of the options is to set it so you see the words to the songs at the top of the screen and they're highlighted, kind of like a bouncing ball but without the ball, so you can sing along. There really isn't any recording of your voice so it's just kind of for your own amusement. When choosing a song, you see a difficulty level and an effort level shown by the number of stars. Several of the songs are at a somewhat slow pace so it's pretty easy to follow along. There are some little icon figures that move along the bottom that show upcoming moves. I found it easier just to watch the dancers. The game does a reasonably good job of recording your movements and you can see with a gauge above your dancer whether you've missed the move "X", got an "OK" or a "Great". It's possible to get combo points by scoring several "Greats" in a row. Your points are totaled up at the end in each category.

Ok, so why did I give this game only 4 stars if I like it so much? Well, I just got the game today and after playing it for a couple hours I'm already scoring pretty well. It's not that I'm really good at this sort of thing, in fact I'd have to say I'm pretty uncoordinated most of the time. It's just that I like games that are more challenging and I want to get a lot of hours of enjoyment out of it. Now I do have to say that I really, REALLY had fun playing with it tonight. I love the music, the graphics are pretty good and I just like the whole idea of the game. But I'm not sure a couple of weeks from now that I'll be challenged enough to be looking forward to playing it as much. I always compare this type of game to We Cheer and We Cheer 2, by Namco. Those are rhythm games as well, kind of on the same principle, but I couldn't even get past the first song for over a week. I played those games for hours and hours trying to open new levels of songs and stages. (I still have fun playing them). With Dance on Broadway, there are 20 songs and as far as I can tell, everything is accessible right away, no additional challenges or hidden things to open. Some of the songs like All That Jazz and Aquarius are very easy to score on because of the way these games record the Wii movements. Now, if you want to follow along with the steps and really look like the dancers on the screen it will be more difficult. But this game, like others of it's type records only your arm movements to score.

So would I buy the game again? Yeah, I love the music and I'm a sucker for rhythm and musical type games. But I wish it had more levels and was more challenging. The challenge for me will be not so much the scoring, which I think I'll probably be able to ace in a fairly short time, but trying to really copy all the footwork and look like the dancers onscreen. And while it's not as energetic as some games like We Cheer, my arms are sore after playing it for a while. I'm not exactly huffing and puffing but it's still good exercise. I just wish Ubisoft would have added a little more interest and more levels to this game. It's good as far as it goes but seems as though it was rushed to market too soon.

Update 6/27/10 After playing with this game for 10 days I'm finding that the motion sensing is sometimes a little quirky. It doesn't always pick up the motions of the Wiimote as quickly as it should. But we've also had some really big fun with this game when we had friends over. After a couple glasses of wine we started up the game, and after watching, had 4 people playing at a time and it was hilarious! Watching a line of "dancers" make their Broadway debut with exaggerated dance movements and expressions was way funny. And trying to outdo each other on the points kept everyone playing for a long time. Because there are a lot of easy dance numbers like the one from "Hair" or "All That Jazz" everyone can score reasonably well after just a few tries. And there are definitely some that are more difficult and energetic. So I have to give the "party potential" 5 stars even though I rated the game 4 stars for the rest.

I got this for my wife and she loves it. She was big into dance when she was younger and we go to Broadway shows now so this was the perfect game. Can't believe I bought a video game that she actually enjoys! I even had a surprisingly fun time playing some of the more upbeat songs with her too.

Honest reviews on Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii

We have "Just Dance 2" and love it.

"Dance on Broadway" is quite a few steps down from "Just Dance"it sucks.

For every song, there are four characters on screen, making it difficult to see their movements. They have created the program to pan around (to the right, left, and above) the characters while they dance, so not only can you NOT see the movements your supposed to be doing, you can't always fully see your character (sometimes the characters do minutely different moves). The characters movements are not fluid, they jerk around. The graphics looks very cheap and like old technology.

The actual dances are slow, repetitive, and simple so much so that I imagine elderly people doing these moves in a water aerobics class.

If you have an older family member that can't keep up with Just Dance, this may be perfect.

You can not enter your name to keep score. The game keeps score for the current song, and then it's gone. You have no way of knowing if you've improved or not.

There are no additional games that you can play only poorly created dances.

The music is great.

I bought Just dance 2 and fell in love with the game. So when I found out that there was a Broadway dance game I was so excited I had to get it! When it came I played it right away but I was disappointed. The graphics were not great and neither were the versions of the songs they used. It was also difficult, at least I found, to know what dance movements you were supposed to do. Overall I was really disappointed with this game.

Having loved many of Square-Enix's RPG games I was extremely excited to hear that this title was coming to the XBox 360 system. I preordered it, ignored review sites giving it mediocre reviews, and sat down for a good while to play it. Now I'll try to give a fair view of the game.

Story 3/5:

The idea behind the story of the game, in general, is that the moon is being chained down by some organization and there is a group that exists to cut down these chains. Quickly you learn that you have a giant case of mistaken identity to which people think you're the hero who does the chain cutting. Add in some annoying whining from the main character and you have a pretty basic story. As the game develops it gets a little better but there is nothing ground breaking regarding it and it leaves me wondering if they could have taken the concept further to make a more enjoyable game.

Graphics 5/5:

The game is beautiful from what I've seen while playing. Although at times the bloom effect seems a bit overused the majority of the game has a unique realistic look and is exciting to play. It definitely stands out in a market saturated with a more cell shaded and somewhat cartoonish look for video games (the xbox 360 RPG market).

Vocals 2/5:

The most surprising aspect of the voice acting in the game is the fact some scenes have it and some don't. You'll hear the main character talking in one scene and then the minute you go through a door you just see the words on the screen. It's almost as if the game developers just decided midway through to only have speech during key scenes? That would make sense but a lot of the scenes with voice acting aren't key so I highly doubt that.

The voice acting, on top of that, when you do hear it, is complete rubbish. The characters sound pained to be talking and often they seem not to fit the situation. The emotion and vocal tone often do not fit the scene and at times they sound unbelievable.

Gameplay 1/5:

This is where the game does its worst. I'm going to break off each area of the gameplay I want to focus on into mini paragraphs so bare with me for a moment.

Fighting:

Fighting seems to take a MMORPG approach in the game. The world does not deviate between battles and walking in a sense. When approached by enemies (or vise versa) you use the trigger button to arm your weapon and you can partake in battle. You use your two attack keys to either do short attacks or powerful attacks. There is also a button to parry but I found it hard to execute. Besides this there is the ability to connect (link) with other characters so the main character can take control of them and use their skills.

Connecting Issues:

One quick note about connecting (mentioned last in last mini)... you often find you need to connect at key parts in the story. One character has the ability to shoot arrows and you'll find that at one point in the story unless you use this ability in a short period of time it's game over. This is annoying because you often have no idea that the ability is needed and have to go back all the way to your last save if you didn't think to use it. Another annoying connect period is where you have to use a character's charm ability (which you are unaware he has unless you connect and try it) to lure enemies somewhere. This is unexplained and is unlikely anything a normal user will ever guess without hours of annoyance.

Items:

Items can be crafted in the game by using certain crafting skills for particular allies with you. When in the world items are used in real time so the enemy can attack you at any given point while you're cycling through as well. Likely this will lead most users to either prioritize items at the top of their item list or hope that the NPC allies pick the right medicine at any given time to help out.

Flute:

At times you will also need to use your flute for various means. This is annoying in the sense that you often will have no clue for the need of the flute. In one area to progress you need to use your flute in the vicinity of a particular area but there is no reason for this what-so-ever in the context of the area. It's like they wanted to throw in more flute time but didn't want to go through the trouble of making it intuitive.

Searching Missions:

Throughout the game you'll have annoying mini story pieces you'll need to accomplish. One of such is where you need to pick up a quantity of items from the general area. There is no significance to the story but you will need to just search and search for about 5 10 minutes time to find all the items without any way to skip. I don't understand the point of this really and it seems like just another attempt to add in more user game time without actually adding to the game at all.

Party System:

One thing I like about the game play is the party system. Often you'll find you have situations where more than one party is needed. The computer will take the assigned party teams that you make alternative to your own and have them follow a set course (you don't set it) that will lead to the objective. So at times you'll find your party of 4 with 8 other teammates on the screen battling it out epically. It's pulled off pretty well besides the fact each of these situations is overly easy because of the nature of them.

Linear:

The game is massively linear in that while each area is relatively large and allows you to explore a bit there is nothing to do but kill the enemies in the area without any other game paths. So there is nothing really special about searching a whole zone because while you often will find other treasure chests everything else you can find right in the same general vicinity.

Maps:

Finally, the mapping system in the game is completely outrageous. Often there will be one tiny cave that will connect one massive zone to the next and unless you search every nook and cranny of the zone you'll never find it. I spent a good hour searching for the one that led to the first mission after leaving the first town until I gave up and searched the web for walk-throughs. Funny enough, in my search, I found tons of other posts across the web asking for the same information. The area to area is completely massive but without any markers to keep the user on track.

In general the game play is very unintuitive and you'll spend an infinite amount of time trying to discover what the heck is going on many times throughout the story. If you can put up with this annoyance (and don't mind searching frequently asked questions on the net for help) then you may like the game for other reasons but else you should avoid altogether. I like the game it's just the game play stands out and has often led me to drop it, walk away for a couple hours, and retry some annoying sequence many a time.

Nice title, isn't it? But don't expect a blatant fanboy review. Quite the contrary. If I had to summarize what you should need to know about this game, it's this: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYONE; DO NOT BUY IT UNLESS YOU ARE EITHER BLATANTLY OPEN-MINDED OR HAVE RENTED IT FIRST, OR HAVE A GREAT RETURN POLICY, OR SOMETHING.

Why do I emphasize that so? Because the nature of the game calls for that emphasis.

You see, Infinite Undiscovery is not a traditional RPG. It's an action RPG with some elements that emulate online gaming. That's issue #1. It's linear, but open at the same time. That's issue #2. It also doesn't pan out until you're a few hours into the game; you'll be lost on the story momentarily as it begins to develop itself; that's issue #3. There are others, but those are the first and foremost in my mind.

Your character starts out in jail. You get rescued eventually by Aya, who actually mistakes you for someone else who apparently looks identical to you. As you make your escape from the prison, you'll end up in a forest, and finally, meet some more of the key characters. Seems overly simple, but that's what I can give you without spoiling things.

In this game, you really have to think, I mean really think about what you're doing. Things like walking instead of running so you can attack someone from behind. Sound plays another big part of the game; if you don't have at least a 5.1 surround system you'll be impaired in this area. Even smell plays a small part if you stink, enemies can detect you. In the darkness you can get assaulted by enemies you can't see (but they can see you because they're nocturnal). Getting attacked from behind cripples you and makes you susceptible to critical attacks. There are tons of different elements you need to take into consideration as you fight, which increases the immersion and the challenge.

Additionally, the world is alive; there is no "pause to bring up the menu". You need to make sure there are no enemies in the close vicinity, or that they are out of visual range, or you're in a town before bringing up the menu, because you can still get assaulted during this time. A strategic element to be sure, and one I wouldn't mind seeing in a future RPG, just slightly better implemented (more on that later).

With the "Connect" system, you effectively are giving commands to your colleagues to either do special attacks, heal, or talk to NPCs on your behalf, revealing different information than you get. The game relies heavily on this system, as you will frequently have need to use a character's special technique to get through a certain area. This lends itself to problems, however (more on that later).

If you're a fan of pure aesthetics, this game will not disappoint. The graphics, music and sound effects are all excellently done, and quite frankly some of the best looking on any game released to date. Some people have mentioned framerate issues; to me, they're so infrequent I wouldn't even call it a dealbreaker. With graphics this good, and minimal load times (considering it's basically an open world), a half second framerate drop every now and then is forgivable. Just make sure you turn down the voice volume; it tends to come through rather loudly on your left rear speaker during battle for some reason.

That doesn't mean there aren't issues, because there are.

In the beginning of the game, you're evading a rather large foe. It seems almost impossible not to get hit by this guy. An option to turn and risk fighting him would have been nice.

In a forested area, you're told to "stick to shadows". Considering the whole forest is dark, this instruction is confusing to a newbie user.

Some areas are just ridiculous. Like when you have to cross an open field with some small ruins, and a creature is blowing fireballs at you which are possible, but extremely difficult, to dodge because of the camera angle. No instructions as to what to really do, except run. Might have been something there that I missed for all I know.

You have to press Right Trigger to draw your sword. I like that and all, but what I don't like is that your colleagues won't draw their weapons if you don't, even if the tactic says to go all out.

Quite a few things are not explained to you. In the beginning, Aya explains one of her Connect commands, which you use to take out a guard. That's great. Later, you're given Flute songs, yet never told what each song does or how/when to use them. I didn't even know I could use the flute until I was 2 hours into the game, even though I had it all along. I was also stuck on one area (and the web is lit up with boards about the same area) where I had to use another character's Connect command to charm enemies to a door; nowhere is this explained. That same character can talk to animals; not explained either.

Outside of the primary characters, the additional characters don't have very much development.

As I said before, you should test this game before actually buying it. It might not be for you. It's not a bad game; just different. I wouldn't say it's similar to an MMORPG, even though it has some of the qualities. I would say...if you took Final Fantasy 12, with a better story and more plot development...and a better battle engine with pseudo-full control...you'd get this game. IMO, it's what FF12 should have been. Take that for what it's worth.

Best Deals for Infinite Undiscovery - Xbox 360

In short, this is the real-time/seamless combat RPG that Final Fantasy XII could and should have been. Combat is relentless and very involving. However, the "connect" system is really just a gimmick, and ends up being used mostly in forced puzzle-minigame chores rather than as a useful skill in combat.

My #1 complaint for this game is the poor voice acting throughout, and the lack of selectable Japanese voices. With 2 DVD DLs worth of data, not including the Japanese voices as an option is inexcusable. You'll see what I mean once the twins join your party.

The graphics in the camera-perspective-restricted Eternal Sonata might make Undiscovery look a little dated. But the real-time battle system from Undiscovery more than makes up for it and proudly shows off the new direction most new J-RPGs are headed towards.

Honest reviews on Infinite Undiscovery - Xbox 360

Infinite Undiscovery is an objectively flawed jrpg that still manages to be fun despite--or possibly because of--its idiosyncrasies.

Gameplay is built around the familiar action-rpg formula of assigning specific attacks to face buttons and maneuvering freely about the field to unleash them as a finite pool of points is depleted (in greater chunks by greater spells).

As lead character Capell you'll also issue very basic orders to a close quarters AI squad, and the AI is generally competent. Uniquely, there are often separate squads (for which you determine the roster) which may be onscreen attacking a boss alongside your primary group or--less impressively--simply running off elsewhere to find a key as required by scripted dungeon progression.

On top of this base, you'll find a wide and often redundant array of skills, spells, food recipes, weapon production options, obtuse conversation/secrets trees, buff incantations, and even songs to collect. The development team was overflowing with new ideas but without the subsequent followthrough and/or skill to integrate them properly into the solid base gameplay.

Another form of variety is in the form of characters, of which you'll find a great many choices here. Most characters are likable enough, and every one of them is given some kind of unique gameplay system it can manipulate. One may be able to talk to animals, another be able to smash inconveniently placed boulders, etc. Here too though, the developers didn't know when to pull the reigns in. There are several characters that one can only place in the aforementioned separate squads for no other intelligible reason than perhpas they didn't have time to craft unique attacks for the characters if placed under direct command.

Despite what sound like damning flaws, it all comes back to the basic gameplay. And that remains fun to play. Most of the broken and or simply useless gameplay options can (and will be ) ignored to enjoy the entertaining spectacles of the colorful fighting.

The story also helps move things along, despite its own efforts at self-sabotage such as impressively mismatched facial animation and voice acting. The story of admirable if whiny young Capell, the energetic and enervating Aya, and many others is entertaining and generally efficiently told (judged under the low bar occupied by most jrpgs).

So, in the end, the game manages to earn a higher personal fun rating of 4 than I can objectively rate the overall game itself for others.

Square has done it again. This is another great title with beautiful graphics and smooth gameplay. The few minor catches is that the main character is not the most exciting person. He starts off as a whiny nearly useless bard. If you can get past his personality early on the game pays off.

Combat is similar to many Action RPG's with the ability to pair up with one of the other party members and use one of thier 2 special abilities. In addition you can build a second or third party that will travel with the main party but you have no control over thier actions.

The game has a system for item crafting that is usefull but alot like a standard MMO and promises some grinding to master the best gear or food in the game.

If your a fan of Square this is a title to grab. Try to get the 'pre-order' download card that comes with the game to enable better items to be available eariler in the game. Also X-Box Live offers several cheap/free add-ons that add more items to the game.

If your into the lightcores definitely worth buying. Shroomboom has two points of light,(most of the Lightcores only have one.) his mushroom glows green and his eyeball is like a little lightbulb. A great addition to the collection.

Part of the fun of the game is collecting all the Skylanders. My son enjoys all of them so far, including this one. Something that's NOT fun is overpaying for the figures. Just wait it out and eventually they'll all be at the suggested retail price. I picked this one up a few days ago from here and it was even less than what the Lightcores usually go for. I haven't overpaid on a single Skylander (original one and Giants) to date and don't plan on. What people advertise to be "rare" is eventually going to be as common as a pack of toilet paper. The truly rare ones will remain rare, such as the crystal ones, unpainted, etc., but those are for the hard-core collectors.

Shroomboom was one of the first Skylanders out and now he has a makeover with the new pose and of course the lights. Not the most robust character in the game, he has his moments. If you're not interested in collecting all of them, you can easily pass this one by; but for completionists, this won't disappoint.

I've ordered yet another LightCore Skylander. The first one is Jet-Vac, normally I'd go for normal version, but these two are a special case for LightCores.

The game is only one player, and is a little like the recent Gundam/mecha games, where you have to take down the enemy mechas with your teammates. Though it is a shame that this doesn't have the online multiplayer feature, for it had so much potential. Nonetheless as a fan of the series, it was fun playing as the main characters in this game. I recommend this for any fan of the show.

I purchased two of these guns for the Cabela's game and they work great! At first I had a little glitchy problem with one but after turning it off and back on problem solved and had the game a few weeks with no more issues. Both of my guns work great and accurate. I stand about 9-10 feet away from our 73" tv and work perfect! Great product!

...at least, it's popular at my store. I say "funky" because the dark blue color doesn't seem to go well with the black and green XBox...but my customers don't seem to mind. It outsells the green S and almost outsells the black S at my store. Those who bought an XBox when it first came out remember the monstrously oversized controller that came with it. Fans complained, and Microsoft created the Controller S ("S" for "small") to alleviate the cramped hands and aggravation the original controller caused. (The original still has its fans, though; I get a handful of requests each month for it). The control layout may take some getting used to, as many games require the use of all of the buttons, and reaching the small black and white buttons near the bottom of the controller can be risky in heavy combat (such as switching grenade types while battling an Elite in Halo). Otherwise, this controller is great. It's just the right size for most people, although if you're buying a controller for someone with small hands (like a child, for example) then I suggest the Mad Catz MicroCon, perfectly suited for smaller hands. The Controller S is also available in green and black.

The original controller that Microsoft released with the XBox was like the system itself, big and bulky. Those of you who remember how your hands felt after playing hours of Halo with those big bulky controllers will truly apreciate the new "S" type controllers. They are much more comfortable on your hands and make game play much better. Your hands are not crampy and in pain like before. The most notable difference will be in the white and black buttons. I remember how annoying it was to have to reach all the way to the top of the controller in an odd fashion to hit one of those buttons. They are now on the bottom of the controller, and it takes geting used to, but you will find they are much easier to reach and work way better in the new spot. All the buttons on the controller are more accessible and the control sitcks are easier to use. The blue color on this one is just cool and since it is the same price why not go for it?

Samurai Warriors 2 - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Samurai Warriors 2 (Sengoku Musou 2 -Japan title). Compared to the prequel, this game has more characters, more stages, more challenging, more replayability, more... everything.

There are ten new characters in total (including the most famous, Musashi Miyamoto who was never defeated in real-life history & who uniquely used 2 swords-style), and each of them have their own unique weapons and movesets. What makes this game is more unique, is that all characters, returning and brand new, are given specific techniques and movesets. The RB button, if pressed at the same time with either "X" or "Y" button, will make a character do a Special technique. The techniques range from doing special attacks, calling a horse, shooting, ninjutsu, and many others. Characters have also been assigned different types of movesets. Some characters' movesets are still similar to Sengoku Musou 1's moveset, but some others' are similar to the Shin Sangoku Musou movesets, but with improvements. If in Shin Sangoku Musou (Dynasty Warriors)you can only do a charge attack up to C6, here, you can unleash a C8!

There are no equipped items here, as they are being replaced by the new skill system. It is in a good way though, since you could only equip a limited number of items in previous games. Now, you can equip all skills you want, which consists of stat increasing, combat ability, recovery and luck skills, among others. Skills are only available for the character who has them, so other characters will have to get the same skills by themselves, making this game more replayable. There are 3 ways to get better Skills. Earn them as you Level Up, Learn them by beating another General or Buy Skill Upgrades from the Shop. At the shop you can also buy Horses & Bodyguards so no more waiting around to earn a horse. You can now start the game riding a horse from the beginning after you earn only 500 gold.

What makes this game more fun to play is that the castles, which many players consider as a major issue in Samurai Warriors 1, are now part of the main map. So yes, no more loading between floors, no more getting Lost, a big issue with me, plus now your Body guard can come along too, allies can also enter the castles, and you can go inside & outside of the castle as much as you please

AI has been improved. Graphics are much improved from the prequel, and the stages are more colorful now. Slowdowns are much less likely here. The music is still similar from the prequel, Techno with a bit of Japanese instruments. Movies are also well done, as well as character stories. Also, if you're bored of hacking and slashing, you can also play a monopoly-like minigame called SUGOROKU for up to 4 players, which is available here to earn money & unlock a character. Also a Surviver (Castle) Mode where you can earn more money & unlock another character as well as the two unique almost Invincible Horses (Kanketsuba, and Houshou Tsukige) To unlock them for purchase from the Shop, you must do specific tasks in the Survival Mode. as well as two unique Bodyguards (Shibata Katsuie and Sasaki Kojiro).

Only gripe, still need much more characters to unlock ( ie: Dynasty Warriors 42 generals) but with 10 more characters Samurai Warriors 2 is much more better than the original!

But with that many improvements, this game could be the most innovative of all Musou/Warriors game KOEI have ever released. You should at least try this game, and I'm 90% sure you'll like it.

I've played this game quite a lot and have found it to be very good in all aspects of gameplay. Unfortunatly I have been told by several retailers that this title has been discontinued. I do not know if the manufacture of this title has been halted but I'd advise getting this sooner than later because it really is a good game. I've probably put in more than 25 hours in the game and haven't completed all the storylines yet. This game is full of unlockables, something I really enjoy; It gives a nice sense of accomplishment. The voice acting on a couple of the characters is a little silly but for the most part is well done.

When I got my hands on the first installment of Samurai Warriors, I thought it was a lot of fun. When I got this one, I was shocked to see how much they had improved on the original. The combat system is much more fluid and intuitive. The in-game store allows players to spend money earned in missions to customize the characters to better match the player's own style. There are more playable characters than before, and individual story modes allow for quite a lot of replay value. Sadly, Koei removed the irritating character creation feature from the first game rather than fixing it. One of my favorite features, and the reason I bought it for Xbox 360 rather than PS2, is that the Xtreme Legends expansion pack is an Xbox Live downloadable patch rather than a separate disc that has to be swapped in and out during game-play. Some may consider this game just another hack-and-slash-fest from Koei, but as a fan of samurai, ninjas, and killing virtual opponents by the thousands, I highly recommend it.

Honest reviews on Samurai Warriors 2 - Xbox 360

Don't let the "2" at the end of this title fool you. It's basically an upgrade to the first Samurai Warriors. It features most (if not all) the same basic elements and hardly improves over the first one at all. Once again Koei has given us a basic hack and slash game. As if the slew of Dynasty Warriors games wasn't enough. Samurai Warriors isn't really all that different than any of Koei's other hack and slash games.

To begin, the game really does look the same as it did before. No real graphical enhancements, and not much of a polish to them either. So when I say this game is more or less the same, I'm not kidding. The XBOX360 version actually looks like the PS2 version; there is no graphical enhancements for the 360 version, which is a shame. Meaning if graphics is your thing, you might want the PS2 version instead as there's really no difference.

The only real difference between Dynasty Warriors and Samuraie Warriors (that stands out the most, anyway) is the simple fact that Samurai Warriors focuses on fuedal Japan (Dynasty Warriors focuses on China). There are an upwards of 26 characters to select from, most of which are locked until you complete the default characters storymode. In story mode you'll play through chapters just hacking and slashing away at your enemies. It's time Koei added more variety to these games. There aren't really a variety of ways you can deal with your enemies, and much like Dynasty Warriors, they clump up all over the screen. At first it's actually somewhat fun, but again, if you've played the first Samurai Warriors (along with Extreme Legends) and played the Dynasty Warriors games (along with those Extreme Legends) then you'll be disappointed (or really happy) to know that it's the same thing you've already been doing for years. Truly, this single aspect of the game could make or break it for you. Some aren't bothered by this at all. It's why Koei can continue to chuck out the same game over and over again. It's virtually the same, but some people like sameness, and of course I'm saying if you do then you'll feel right at home with this game, so don't let this review discourage you.

The story mode cutscenes are also given their own little dramatic effect. It doesn't work very well though. Like your standard Koei game, the English voice overs are terrible. They're so monotone and the dialogue is just bad. It's a good thing that you can easily have some fun with this game without gettind discouraged by the horrible voice acting. The music itself is really hit or miss. There's nothing really memorable about the music at all, and at times it just doesn't always feel right. We can let this slide, though.

Aside from story mode there is also a free mode which is more or less exactly like it sounds. You can choose any level you want and just go in and hack and slash at everything.

The game does try hard to put more of a strategic effort to the missions, but it's almost non-existant. For example, your attention may be called to an area on the map. The game expects that you'll take off and go there. You're not going to have to do that, though. There's really nothing strategic about Samurai Warriors. There wasn't anything strategic about the first one, and the second one's attempts to be such are pitiful.

There are two aspects of the gameplay that do stand out, though. One is the skill system, where you spend gold to learn skills for your character. It helps to make characters seem a little less generic, but not entirely. It does, however, give the game some much needed flavor and some neat customization ability. So there actually is a point to using characters over and over again, and chaning things up. The second aspect may very well be my favorite. The mini game: Sugoroku. It's more or less Monopoly with Samurai Warrior characters, and it's actually really fun to play, and can be quite addictive when playing with friends.

There's online play in this game (though the PS2 version doesn't go online), but it's not really satisfying. It's terrible as a matter of fact. When you go online you're put on two different maps. Yes, I said different. You'll never actually see your opponent. The basic goal is to defeat the enemy commander on your map before your opponent defeats the commander on theirs. Even worse, this is the only thing you can really do online. There's no flavor to it. You never see your oppoent, and there's no competetive or co-op modes or anything online. It's really sad to see. So while the game does have an online mode, you might as well forget about it and play freeplay or storymode because it's essentiall the same thing.

Overall, if you liked the first one, I'm not saying you'll dislike this one. I'm saying it's not really all that different. It's more or less an expansion of what's already been done a million times, and not just in Samurai Warriors. The gameplay can be fun, but just hacking and slashing at your enemies forever and ever with little variety will probably get pretty boring after a while.

As one reviewer pointed out this is basically an upgrade of the last samurai warriors. As such, I liked the former better than the recent. Though still this is a very enjoyable game with enough difficulty and ease to sustain about an hours worth of attention. The inclusion of the red headed Fuma ninja seemed somewhat unnecessary, but he turns out to be one of the better characters to play. Nobonaga was the primary focus of the SW1, but this one focuses on the aftermath of his tear through Japan and the ensuing power vaccum after his death. Mitshide and Ranmaori still look and talk like women from the ZangHe school of make up and hair design. And everyone vaguely resembles europeans pretending to be Japanese. Still a good game but they could've done just a bit more with the 360 version.

Review of Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 System - Video Game Console

Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 System - Video Game Console
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Background:

The 3DO interactive Multiplayer system was one of the first dedicated CD-ROM based game systems. Launched in 1993, at a price point of $699.99, it was intended as a standard from which various manufacturers and developers could work from. The 3DO company did not manufacture the game units, instead they licensed out the idea for a small fee in royalties.

Ahead of its time, it boasted a CD-ROM drive (capable of playing games and photo and music CDs) as well as powerful 3D graphics capabilities. The system could be used as a CD player, and had standard AV outputs including component and S-video. Among other innovations were controllers that could be daisy chained together (physically linked together through a connector port on the back of each controller), and a built in game save ROM.

Some reviewers state that the 3DO was only slightly less powerful than the Sony Playstation, a system that came out two years later. In this, the 3DO was definitely ahead of its time.

The 3DO system sold a significant number of units, but never gained enough traction to compete with the main players at the time (which included SNES and the Sega Genesis). The high cost of the system made it out of the price range of most of its potential audience.

Over 130 games for the 3DO were produced. At the time, Full Motion Video (FMV) was considered the latest advance in video games. There are a good number of FMV games available for the 3DO, many of them fairly cheesy. Towards the end of the system's life cycle, a number of adult themed games were produced, making it one of the few major consoles to feature adult oriented content.

But FMV were not all the games produced for the system. The 3DO also featured numerous 3D based FPS's, space based shooters, racers and a few fighting games.

Sadly, the system faired poorly in the market and was canceled in 1996. The 3DO Company went on to become a software publisher.

The system:

The FZ-1 is the first version of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer that Panasonic produced. Physically, it bears a very close resemblance to the alternate Goldstar model, the main physical diferance being the embossed Panasonic logo on the top. I've read that the Panasonic FZ-1 is preferable over the Goldstar model because it has fewer compatability issue with certain games.

Both units are fairly heavy. The later FZ-10 used a top loading tray similair to the Playstation. The original FZ-1 form factor is nicer in some regards because one is able to stack other equipment/consoles on top of it, a bonus when space is limited.

The FZ-1 features a front loading CD Tray and standard AV outputs (meaning that standard AV cables may be used.) This includes standard an RF connection, Composite video, stereo and, unusual for the time, S-video. S-video is extremely nice to have as it was the best display standard available at the time and has the cleanest image. Unlike the updated "slim" version in the FZ-10, the FZ-1 requires the use of a program CD to access the system's game save rom. In this the FZ-10 is superior as it's a lot less tedious to delete save files, and used units these days will often be sold without the needed CD.

The Games:

The 3DO has a fairly small library of games compared to other systems, though the games cover the full range of genres from RPG, FPS and space shooters to fighting and racing games. A number of games such as Star Control II and The Need For Speed are especially memorable. The 3DO was also the platform for the only strategy based tie-in game for the movie Jurassic Park entitled Jurassic Park Interactive and the 3DO version of the infamous Night Trap is considered by some to be the best available. Overall, a good number of the 3DO's games are entertaining and ahead of their time, though there's some garbage on the system (Plumbers Don't Wear Ties).

Many developers went out of their way to use the CD capabilities of the 3DO and as the result, the system's games often boast CD quality music. Street Fighter 2 Turbo is an example of this. The music in the 3DO port is actually better than in the arcade version. This sets it apart from the systems it competed against early in its life cycle.

In addition, a good number of games use Full Motion Video cut scenes or high quality pre-rendered animations, both available due to the additional space allowed on a CD. Along the same lines, a good number of the games feature FMV gameplay, but this type of game covers only a small portion of the game library.

PROS:

* AV connections use standard cables including S-video.

* Native S-video support makes this system display better on modern flat panel TVs than many of its contemporaries.

CONS:

* Limited game collection (about 140 games), many of them mediocre or worse.

* Small consumer base makes games harder to find now.

* Controllers could be better.

* Many 3DO games were ported to other systems after the 3DO's demise.

BOTTOM LINE:

The 3DO is a good system, but the limited catalog of games makes it less desirable to the average gamer. An interesting footnote in gaming history, it's likely to appeal only to the vintage gaming enthusiast. It certainly lacks the legs of the NES, Genesis or SNES.

The FZ-1 is a good model though I would say it's a toss-up between this one and the FZ-10. The game save program manager of the Fz-10 is a nice feature, but the FZ-1's form factor gives it a little extra appeal. Since both systems contain much the same hardware, it's mostly the cosmetic differences that purchasers will need to decide on.

As the title would suggest, this is not another what can be terrible "movie adaptation game". Instead, this game adds value to those that are big fans of GL (myself included)or looking for a solid game to play. The controls are pretty simple for any video game veterans of the last decade. There might be challenge here or there, just like in any game, but nothing that can't be handled in co-op. Co-op is great with the "drop in/out" on command feature, good for a busy house or somebody just looking for some quick help. Overall, I'd recommend renting for casual gamers, unless you're really into a "button mashing" game (using the term very lightly). If you're a die-hard lantern fan like me then this is an obvious and fun buy.

Thank god SEGA didn't work on this game ! They destroyed THOR and I could only hope that they don't rush Captain America and doom it. Overall the game is excellent great weapons,great combat a load of powerups. All the weapons serve a pupose in the game. The game comes with 2 pairs of 3d glasses and it works and makes your gaming experience that much better! Not to long, not to short just rite. The level presentation looks great and so do your enemies. I was sceptical on this release after I played THOR and if your a gamer you know how bad movie games usually are, with a few exceptions ( Batman Arkam, Wolverine, not many) I'm glad I purchased it because I can't stop playing the last 3 days. AWESOME !!!

Best Deals for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters - Xbox 360

This is a very rare super-hero game that is actually good. The only other great ones are Wolverine and Arkham Asylum. Its a pretty solid game, graphics are nice and the various abilities you get to unlock and upgrade are all pretty cool. Campaign length wasn't too short, but nothing spectactular either.

The one real complaint I have about this game is that they do NOT have online co-op. Its only local co-op and to me that is an unforgivable ommission. Kudos to them for including the co-op, not enough games include that. But to not have it online capable is just crazy. I purchased it to play online and was not happy when I found out I couldn't do that. Other than that a darn good game.

Honest reviews on Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters - Xbox 360

Take this review with a grain of salt.

I love Brawler type games (ie God of War). I love green lantern and have been reading him pre Ron Marz era.

The game is a fun game. The graphics and the voice overs are fairly good. I didn't notice any graphical glitches or much sound errors. However one thing about the sound, when you are playing two player co-op it gets a little weird cause Hal will talk into his ring to speak to Sinestro when Sinestro is standing right behind him. Some occasions the lines spoken to Sinestro are spoken to Kilowag.

Game play is straight up brawler. You move to an area, kill a bunch of folks, then move onto the next area. Usually once you defeat all the enemies, you have to solve some sort of puzzle or a button mashing sequence to progress. Puzzles are not very challenging and can usually be solved fairly quickly. There are a variety of enemies but they tend to repeat.

The game is somewhat challenging in the beginning, namely because you hit like a wet noodle and lantern energy is not replenished regularly, requiring you to use heavy light attacks. As you progress through the game you can level up, and unlock new moves and abilities through "willpower points." Willpower points are gathered through destructible items or through chaining combos. This makes the later stages alot more fun since you can 5 different types of enemies on the stage and you need different powers to take them out. The game makes using constructs easy, you can map 4 to each shoulder button + face button (aka left trigger + b will use the gattling gun). Once you progress through the game and unlock everything the game becomes very very easy. Pretty much you have unlimited lantern energy, and every fight you can go crazy. I wish there was an insane difficulty, because at this point you can just pull out your constructs and pretty much 1 shot everything (hello jet). The ground brawler sections are broken up by rail shooter segments. These are okay, and suffer from the same difficulty issues that the brawler section does. It goes from easy to very easy.

Not many games have couch multi-player, but the game pretty much stays the same. To me it seems that the enemies don't get stronger at all and now with another person it becomes even easier.]

All in if you want a good brawler then go for it. The difficulty level could be upped.

I'm surprised that no DLC or unlockables have been included. Once you finish the play through there is not much else left to do.

The game came with 2 3d glasses. These glasses are not designed for an adults face. The 3d looked okay, but nothing to write home about.

This game gives me the opportunity to play as green lantern, which I have been waiting for for a long time. However as an objective video game player it suffers from the curse of being a movie tie in game. While not as bad as some of the other ones, it is defiantly no spider man 2 or wolverine. Its short enough to be beaten while rented, or pick it up cheaper.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters - Xbox 360

This game was a nice surprise because it was a superhero game that wasn't too campy and ridiculous, but fun. I, as every other avid video gamer, was hesitant about what the quality of this game would be like, having seen the spotty track record of titles related to film franchises.

No, this game isn't a direct movie tie-in, because it's not a full Green Lantern origin story like the movie is going to be (from what I can tell by movie previews to date). Hal is already chosen by the ring, and this game is more like his first adventures as a Green Lantern. It's just good timing to make a video game release with a big name movie release it's called marketing, people you'd do just the same thing to make $$$ if you were in charge.

The gameplay could get a little repetitive, in the way of a beat-em-up game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends, but mixing in the ring constructs with scenery changes wasn't too bad at all. I died a few times even on the easiest difficulty because I had to figure out how to defeat certain strong baddies after some trial and error, but never got frustrated about it. Flight missions were decent, with constant action going on in them so you stay attentitive. I replayed a few missions just for experience points, but I'd say it took me about 7 hours to go through. Not too much replayability after that unless you really want to. There might be some future DLC on it, looking at the box's back. I did not try co-op.

Visually, the graphics were decent, and I never got any framerate losses. 3D was meh, but that can be subjective for every person my eyes got a little tired from the red-green glasses supplied. The character art was nice in my opinion, with vibrant colors and also ongoing action (battles in the background). I didn't get bored of the environments.

I'd recommend this game as a nice, casual superhero game that keeps moving you along, but not feel like you're grinding your way through. I thought it was a fun story. I know some people are going to think that it's going to be way off canon with the manhunters doing their rising and all, but I thought it was good for what it did (yes, I've read some GL titles, myself). Not every comic book video game property has to follow verbatim to what a printed comic book title did. Batman: Arkham Asylum did pretty well on its own. But if that's what you really want, then wait for a game called something like "Green Lantern vol. 4: As Written By Geoff Johns".

TL;DR its a good and fun 7-hour superhero game, don't hate it until you actually play it!
