This game was too much for DLC. It contains ten new characters, new stages, tweaks to all existing characters, new modes, a new engine, and every character got at least one new move. I'm not going to say that the game is more balanced. It's too early to tell, but it does retain the feel of SFIV.

Still, there are things that are different. I've already noticed that the arc of my jumping hk with Ken is different. Also he feels overall more powerful. The new characters can really put some hurt on (Dudley especially). These new balances change the strategy of the game some (I still don't use jumping hk much; mk is just much easier to combo off of). The timing of the moves is different. I can connect with combos I couldn't connect with before. So, the game has changed in subtle, but substantial, ways for returning characters. These tweaks amount, not to an expansion, but almost a new game.

The new modes are fun. It's easier to find good matches. The replay channel is a great way to spend time. If you just want to chill with some pizza, it lets you see good gameplay, save it, manipulate it, and whatnot, while providing more passive entertainment. I haven't gotten to try things like team battle, but I suspect that they will be just as well done.

Basically, this is SFIV on steroids and corrects some of its problems. Did you like SFIV? Then this game is for you. If you didn't like it, then you probably won't like SSFIV either. If you were on the fence, give it a whirl. It's basically a whole new game for the price of an expansion. It's easily worth the price.

Great characters, graphics, sound and controls. This is a Pro Fighting Game so the controls are not as easy as Tatsunoku vs Capcom or Marvel vs Capcom 2, but that makes it very rewarding pulling off Supers and Ultras. Definitely need to practice to master this game but there is a great deal of depth to be had with the different characters, fighting styles and fighting moves.

This game is simply awesome and from what I can tell there really is no faults. You might be wondering if you own the original SF4 if you really should get this one, the answer is a easy yes. I have both version and this one is by far the better.

One area where it stands out is you have more charecters this alone is worth considering the upgrade each toon fights different and seems to fit right in. No matter what your style there is someone here you will get into and once you do, low and behold you can actually win fights with them. This is the real reason for the upgrade. The older versions Had some real bad balancing issues with some characters clearly unable to compete with others. This has all been fixed and now everyone has a chance. If your like me you hate Microsofts and Sony's controllers so make sure you grab the Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad Akuma it puts those two to shame though makes me miss my old Sega Saturn controller.

The bonus stages are also a nice return and they did a very good job on, though I would of liked to see a couple new ones, still no complaints.

Street Fighter is the game all other fighters have been campared to and now Capcome has ensured it stays that way. This game is in one word Super!!

The game was awesome, had very nice gameplay. I played it for hours when I got it in the mail. I've always liked the Tekken, and Mortal Kombat games when you could move around in the game but this one is more like the other Street Figther games and the very first mortal Kombat(s) and Tekken(s)

I thought this was a cereal with a darksiders toy in it. I put the disc in a bowl and poured milk on it. Then, I accidentally set on fire so I peed on it. I put it in my Xbox and it worked. Bravo

Super Street Fighter II- Turbo Revival Review

Super Street Fighter II- Turbo Revival
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I've seen the Japanese version of the game in action, and the graphics are really A LOT better than they ever where on the SNES! Game Boy Advance has much better 2D capabilities than the SNES does!, I played my SSFII to compare and the graphics on the game boy version are ten times smoother!! And also the intro is breathtaking believe me! I knew the GBA was good but I didn't know it was capable of this!

The game works very well, and has four different settings of speed. It might have a cheat for even faster fighting like sf2turbo did=) who knows. But It's new artwork will blow anyone away! and some of the levels have been changed a little, to look a little flashier. Guile's stage has a harrier flowting in the backround and it's really impressive, as is Chun Li's stage which I think has really improved in my opinion and is beautiful! Zangief's stage is similar, but has a few changes in the backround. Ken's stage is set in a fast paced city with bilboards. I miss the old stages, but the new ones really are amazing and refresh the game for me anyway.

The sound is really nice, nicer with headphones though. Gameplay is of the finest, so much to master and you can ALWAYS get better! plus you have Akuma to master if you can unlock him. The characters are a lot smoother than on the snes, but you'll have to get used to playing with four buttons instead of at least six=( but that's nothing to moan about!, this is as good as it gets believe me and you'll get used to the buttons. The A and B buttons have the low and med kicks and punches squeezed in, so you have to tap the button for a light attack and hold it down a little for a med attack. Then the L and R buttons are of course the high kick and punch and work normally. You can configur the buttons how you want and choose which buttons share attacks. It's a little annoying I admit, but it's still Street Fighter at the bus stop right? how can you go wrong?! I really prefer this to the snes version, because it really is more of a port from the arcade than a port from the snes, and has it's own original artwork too! Buy it! "sonic boom!"

I've long been a fan of the Street Fighter II series on the SNES. When I heard there was going to be a GBA version, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. And while it's fun to play, it's far from perfect.

First, the good stuff. The graphics are nice, and stay true to the original (as do the sound effects). Arcade mode is a blast to play, and the various little bonus games you can unlock are pretty cool.

But there are, unfortunately, some significant problems with the game. Firstly, there's the fact that the GBA has two less buttons than the SNES. The control scheme is customizable, thankfully, but it takes time to get used to it. Finger-cramping is pretty common after playing for a long period of time, even if you're used to playing the GBA for extended sessions.

Another downside is the music. To put it simply, it's bad. We're talking barely Game Boy Color quality here, and it's a real shame. Part of the charm of the SF2 games is the cool music, and unfortunately this aspect did not carry over well to the GBA at all.

And one other gripe the game can crash. After unlocking Akuma, he can be your opponent in the arcade mode. But unfortunately, the game crashes and burns horribly 9 times out of 10 when it brings me to him in the arcade ladder. A console game crashing under normal usage is a Very Bad Thing(tm), and that's ultimately what brings this game's rating down from 4 stars to 3 stars in my book.

Conclusion: SF2 for GBA is fun, but in many regards it just doesn't do justice to the SNES versions. When you see awesome conversions like Mario Kart Super Circuit, and compare them to this somewhat lacking port of Street Fighter II, its faults can become pretty glaring.

The game is excellent, but unfortunatelly the QA team has missed a critical bug on it. If you're a good SF player, soon you'll notice that when playing Arcade Mode, if you beat everybody up to Sagat without losing you should be challenged by Akuma, but as soon as Akuma's introductory screen appears and his theme song starts being played, the GBA will freeze leaving you with a messed screen. All you can do is reset the GBA pressing all buttons at the same time.

This bug is pretty annoying, because if you want to actually end the game, you'll have to lose at least one battle (two rounds) so Akuma won't care about you and you will go straight to M.Bison, without bugs. Maybe most players won't even notice the problem since only veteran SF players will get to M.Bison without losing. That's probably why this game has passed the QA team without complaints.

I hope Capcom fix this bug soon and offer some kind of solution for customers who bought this buggy release.

Still, the game is the best thing you can get for the GBA now, the other game modes are perfect, specially the "Grand Master Challenge" which is quite a challenge even for experienced SF players. I still couldn't find out how to play the promised "Team Mode" and "Character Edit" features, but "Time Attack" and "Survival Mode" are the kind of thing a real Street Fighter fan would dream about for years...

Other problems include the boss character's "swears". They have switched the statements of Vega, Balrog and M.Bison. That's probably because these characters have their very names switched from the Japanese release to the USA release. For example, M.Bison says "Handsome fighters never lose battles", which is actually Vega's statement.

And the last problem I have found is the winning icon, which appears only in the next round after the winning. This means you'll never see the two icons from the two rounds necessary to win the battle, you'll only see one icon always. This is not a big problem, but looks ugly for sure.

Thanks for reading this review!!

Honest reviews on Super Street Fighter II- Turbo Revival

well, this game is really great one. the graphics are good looking , with like 3 new stages. the character menu is beautiful. all the old sounds are included in there. 6 battle modes to choose from and a link Vs mode for beating your friends in it. Capcom did a really good job in setting a new system for the old 6-button configuration into a new 4-button setting. But watch out, this game has around 15 glitch, and some of them are premanant, which means they might damage your catridge. Also, you can't reset those since Capcom is using an EEPROM instead of a battery inside, so you can't erase the memory. Major glitch: the game hangs when you fight akuma (no fight lost during game), but then, there are many mistakes which could be considered minor to the akuma glitch in this game. To get around this glitch, you'll have to lose a fight against a character to ensure you can continue to M.Bison and get the endings. Its taken off the shelves now, since Capcom did refund people for this game, and I heard that they're working on a newer imporved version. If you're really crazy about this game, then get the Japanese version since it doesn't hang, but then, you'd be missing the newly-redone endings. Worth your money only you're a true SF2 fan and got some cash to spend on E-auctions. Meanwhile, stick to the new and awful SF games till Capcom finds a way with this one, I hope.

This game has got a big enough character selection. The back of the box lies to you and tells you there are 8 modes when there is only really 6.The game is packed with glitches, that ruin your best times, and even crash your game!!I have not yet come across any but i went into some message boards, all of them complained of glitches(and somebody even wrote really long text telling of all the glitches). However the characters are awesome as always,i consider the graphic sprites way better than most of the now-a-day high quality graphix.I bought this game on ebay for 20 dollars.I mean this game is so rare that they quit reproducing them.most people complained to capcom and got a 40 dollar refund of the retail price. You think im that stupid??This game is like as rare and valuable as final fantasy 1 for nes!!If you can get your hands on it,you own something thats value keeps on rising. But try not to get akuma.....he startes off most of the glitches in the game(i read that text thing on glitches and there were about 35 of them). You typically have to lose atleast one match everytime in arcade mode or your game will crash.

To me the one thing this video game generation has really missed out on is light gun games. I missed those things and really wanted to play some. But the only ones they really have on Xbox are the Cabela's games. I detest hunting but after watching some reviews of the games, they still looked pretty fun, so I finally broke down and bought it.

After I put the game in, the first thing I want to do is calibrate the gun so I can shoot straight. It turns out that this is entirely impossible. It has a target at the top left you're supposed to shoot to start calibration. But when I aim at the target, the game no longer recognizes my gun. It only recognizes the gun if I aim at the bottom middle and to the right. I try all kinds of stuff over the next hour. Moving the TV farther back, moving the sensor bar from the bottom of the TV to the top. Sitting on the couch, standing on the couch, sitting on the floor, standing behind the couch, pointing the TV left, pointing the TV right, taking pieces off the gun, putting pieces on the gun, changing batteries, changing games, curtains open, curtains closed, lights on, lights off, fully dressed, in my underwear, fully nude. Nothing works.

I turn to the internet. Lo and behold it turns out that these guns don't really seem to work for anybody. All of the documentation tells you that you need to have around 6 feet between you and the TV. What it does NOT tell you is that this ONLY applies to TVs under 32 inches. For anything bigger you need to be around 15 feet away from your TV. If you had trouble using Kinect, well good luck with this LIGHT GUN. Basically you need to put your TV at the end of a hallway to be able to use the thing and then you have to be a sniper to make any shots. Seeing how this is America 2012, I didn't even know they still sold 32 inch TVs.

The question is, how was this SOOOOOOO easy with Duck Hunt a 100 years ago, but with all this amazing technology of 2012, you have to have a empty warehouse for a living room in order to be able to do the same thing that was so simple then?

The other question is, how do these people get away with selling these guns when they absolutely are 100% unusable to most people?

The game itself is fun. I played it with a standard controller and it was pretty good but the whole time I felt like it would've been way better with the gun. It's not a game worth 60 bucks, but it's a few hours of fun.

going in with the cabelas name, and coming with a dedicated controller, I had high hopes for this game. The troubles started with setting up the gun controller. GOOD LUCK getting it calibrated. once I got it close to being "accurate" i tried the game. VERY simple and liniar. I admit it's fun using the gun to hunt and shoot, but using the controller for the action and climbing parts is awkward. If you make it through the game once, you will never pick it up again. even the party games arent fun.

Cabelas Survival with gun is quite fun. The game it self Shadows of Katmai is fun but I found it to be rather hard to play with the gun. The survival modes of the game are great. My sons and I spent hours chalenging each other to see who could get the best score. The gun performs well as long a you calibrate it properly.

Honest reviews on Cabelas Survival: Shadows of Katmai with Gun - Xbox 360

I agree with previous reviews when it comes to the gun...calibration is difficult at best. I gave up after 3 tries and just shot at the ceiling so I could at least go through the motions of playing the game to get a feel for it. I will try again to calibrate "the gun" and if it remains impossible I will do as some have claimed to do before me and use a regular controller. Good luck.

Do not get this game, the gun site is totally off. But the game itself is pretty cool from what we played of it.But the gun was the whole reason I bought this for my son hence why I rated it so low.

This game is a great game for young girls. I got it for my daughter on PS2. She's ten and loved it. The story is basic, you have to rescue missing baby horses, but there are hidden coins and presents that let you unlock new outfits for Barbie and customize her horse. A couple of the puzzles were a little challenging, but nothing she couldn't figure out. It was fun for her to jump things and race her friends. Probably my biggest complaint is that controlling the horse takes a little to get the hang of, but after some practice, it became no problem. I recommend this game for any little girl who loves horses like my daughter. She and her brother had fun challenging each other with the multiplayer, too. It's not violent or dark and scary, just a fun and engaging adventure.

Every little girl dreams of owning a horse and this is a great game to play that you do. It is a great game it is a lot of fun. You track down wild mustangs (not the car) and try and help them to get to a save area. This is a very simple game, but kept me wanting to play for a long while! You can change clothing, and the look of your horse! This game is a lot of fun!

GREAT FOR THE FAMILY!!

My almost-6-year-old received this for Christmas and loves it. It's her first video game and it serves it's purposes wellit's challenging enough for a young girl, yet not so hard as to be frustrating. There are a variety of activities to interest girls and opportunities to have 2 person games if you have 2 controllers. Overall, I'm quite pleaed. If you're an experienced gamer and like flight simulators and Halo, this will not be your game, but you probably knew that already

After months of watching her brothers play Xbox games, my 7 year old daughter has a game she loves and can play well. It isn't intimidating, it isn't even particularly challenging; it's just fun. Of course, her brothers think it's stupid, but hey, she thought Lord of the Rings was stupid. As a fun game for girls, this is a hit.

I wont bother reviewing the game itself as there are plenty of reivews up for it. Needless to say, it is phenomenal. The $20 credit on Amazon is awesome, and the main reason I buy games from Amazon.

For an additional $20 over the regular addition of the game, the Hardened Edition contains:

The game packaged in a Steelbook case with a very short, black and white manual

An art book

A card/token for a free download of the original Call of Duty

+The original Call of Duty was previously only available on PC. I havent seen a price for it yet, but I'm guessing it will sell for $15 on XBLA and PSN. There is a lengthy single player campaign, as well as 24 player multi-player. The value of the Hardened Edition completly depends on if you're interested in playing Call of Duty 1. I beat the game for PC years ago, and it's great. It will remind you of the old Medal of Honor games, and after playing it on my XBOX 360, it seems the graphics, sound effects, and the story have held up relatively well. I think most Call of Duty fans will enjoy the original and will be glad they played it.

+The art book is about 38 pages, and it's interesting. It actually has commentary from the developers at Infinity Ward, not just pictures. I am really enjoying Modern Warfare 2, so for me it was worth checking out the art book and getting some additional insight into the game. For example, it looks like Infinity Ward originally planned a motorcycle chase through the streets of Washington DC (or possibly Brazil), but it didnt make the final game.

+I love the steelbook. It is the coolest steelbook I have seen, possibly only rivaled by the Gears of War 2 steelbook in the limited edition. It combines colors like gunmetal and black, with a gold and green Modern Warfare 2 logo on the front. The picture on the front is of a soldier, kind of like the regular version of the game, but with cooler colors. The back of the Steelbook is a picture of the White House. If you have never seen a Steelbook before, it is about the same size as a normal XBOX 360 game case, but instead of plastic it is metal. The hinges are heavy duty, the inside is made of very nice and thick plastic, and the case closes perfectly. A Steelbook alone isn't enough to justify much of an additional cost to a game, but when combined with other items in a "special edition" is a cool and collectable item for fans of the game.

-The only thing I would have liked to see in addition to what is in the Hardened Edition is a dvd with some extra content. This could have included some documentary-style "making of..." videos detailing the development of Modern Warfare 2, in addition to some music, concept art, and so on. I think a dvd like that would have added much more value for your extra $20, but unfortunately is not included.

Thank you for reading!

This has been the busiest gaming year in recent memory. With games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Halo:ODST, Fallout 3 GOTY, Borderlands it would've been a great year for many a gamer. I've picked up all of the aforementioned games and I've gotta say MW2 is the best out of all of them.

I haven't been able to beat the story yet, but the first few missions are absolutly amazing. Each one was better than the last. The graphics were also revamped, and this is definitly the best looking Call of Duty game ever.

Multiplayer Lot's of new additions, including more exp for more objectives. For example you get extra exp for killing the person who last killed you(Payback), you'll also get extra exp for stopping someone from getting a killstreak (Buzzkill), and so on and so forth. The multiplayer no longer has the perks Juggernaut and Martydom, as these were the 2 most commonly hated perks in the game. Martydom is still in the game, however as a death streak. A death streak is also something new in the game, where if you die a certain amount of times in a row without obtaining a kill, you'll temporarily gain a perk until you get a kill. Martydom requires you to die 4 times in a row, and once you finally kill someone, you'll lose it...until you die 4 times in a row again. Juggernaut has been seemingly replaced with a deathstreak of it's own called painpills. Once you die 3 times in a row, you'll spawn with extra health for the first 10 seconds after you spawn. As weak as it sounds, it's saved my life and my opponents life countless times already.

In terms of gameplay online, the multiplayer is the same as before. Kill, get objectives, etc. The weapons seem more balanced, and with the new perks, deathstreaks and addition of customizable killstreaks, it's rare to have 2 people use the exact same thing. The game has definitly gotten more tactical, and is a huge plus. The maps are gorgeous, however they all have a certain familiar scenery to them. The first time I visited certain maps "Oh, this looks like _______ from CoD4", yet are completly different, it's hard to explain, but you'll understand once you play.

From what I understand there is no co-op in campaign. This is the biggest let-down in the game. However the addition of Spec-Ops partially makes up for it. I've spent already more than 5 hours in Spec-Ops and it's truly the most fun, yet challenging thing I've ever had in a Call of Duty game. Spec-ops is only 2 player (Again, another let-down. I hope they decide to 4-player DLC soon), and throw you into situations with an objective. My personal favorite, had me as a ground soldier, and my co-op partner as the gunner for a helicopter. I had to make it from Point A to Point B so that I could get rescued. While I ran around, my partner was shooting down enemies to help clear my path. It was insane. Other missions include racing on snowmobiles, running a training course, and of course defending yourself against waves of soldiers, helicopters and Jeeps!

EDIT Thought I'd just add a tiny bit about the Hardened edition. The artbook is amazing. It's amazing. Sorry for being repititous, but...it's amazing. I opened it and was in shock at how great the artwork looks. The steelbook case looks nice and for those who care about having special covers and boxes etc. this is the version for you. It also comes with Call of Duty Classic (XBL Arcade game, Pretty big too, I believe it was 1.5+Gigs).

This is the definitive game of the year. People have been saying for a while that it's overhyped and overrated. I'm sorry, but this game deserves all the credit it's due. It's amazing in every sense of the word. I give this game a 10/10. THE ONLY flaw in my opinion that this game has is that it does not have campaign co-op online. However the "replacement" Spec-Ops is so much more exciting and fun as a 2 player co-op.

Believe the hype. Buy it. Now.

Best Deals for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition -Xbox 360

The graphics in this game are awesome. Some of the best I have seen in a game. If you are a big online multiplayer (XBOX Live), they still have some of the same issues as they had before that make it frustrating to play. (ie. respawning near or in front of enemy units, guns that take too many shots at close range to kill, and more.) The campaing is fun. But, I think once I am finished, I'll be back to playing the multiplayer on COD:WAW.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition -Xbox 360

I'm going to keep this review short and sweet and right away say Modern Warfare 2 is without a doubt 2009's game of the year and could arguably be the greatest shooter of all time. Although the campaign is a bit cramped at just around 4-6 hours, the high intensity action across all 3 game modes (campaign, multiplayer and the all-new spec ops) makes Modern Warfare 2 the most adrenaline pumping, heart racing shooter I have ever played. I guess you could say Infinity Ward brought out the big guns with this release, and have made this title an instant classic that you must experience for yourself. I picked up the hardened edition at midnight and although I wouldn't say the $80 price tag is worth the small amount of bonus content, I couldn't resist spoiling myself for the game I have been anticipating since I finished Modern Warfare on release day 2007.

I will leave a detailed review to somebody who actually has time to write one out instead of spending the time playing this unbelievable game! For now though, go get this game if you haven't already...you absolutely will NOT be let down.

To whom it may concern:

Here's a hard truth that EA Sports needs to not only hear, but truly understand. What was once a truly great sports game developer that brought fun and entertainment to millions is now quite frankly a complete joke.

I've purchased the NCAA football series religiously since '92 and have looked forward to it every year ever since. This has always been the one game that I've always spent considerable time playing and I don't know how I could have been more loyal to the franchise. Last year's game certainly had its share of issues, so much to the point that I even stopped playing it.

Surely this season would be different.

Then NCAA 13 is released.

I just can't make myself come up with any logical reason the company would release the game in this condition. Surely a company of this size has the resources to do at least some testing before putting it out on the market. I just have to think that if anyone tested the game, they would have been aware of the well documented fact of, "Hey, this thing locks up about once an hour."

Since I know this absolutely isn't the case and the company obviously tests its games prior to release, I am lead to a much more disturbing realization: EA is intentionally ripping off its consumers.

The company has exclusive licensing with the NCAA, so why release a flawed, actually let's call a duck a duck, completely broken game in Early July?? Surely they realize that the season doesn't even start until September right?

The business ethics demonstrated by Electronic Arts are borderline reprehensible. With this level of service to their core consumer, I just can't see the once loyal fans, myself included, standing for much more of this. I will be returning the game. Unfortunately I have no doubt it will be repackaged and sold to some other poor sucker.

I doubt this message will make it past the unfortunate guy who gets paid little to nothing to read these emails as the people who have the power to impact change quite honestly don't give a damn.

But understand this. There's not a soul on this planet who spent their hard earned money on this vast disappointment who does not realize that Electronic Arts just screwed its customer base. I would use the game as a coaster on my coffee table, but the hole in the middle makes it useless for even that.

Sincerely,

John

Do NOT buy this game if you plan on playing in the dynasty mode. Played the game for two hours and it already froze on me FOUR TIMES! To verify my claim, google "NCAA football 13 freezing issues". In ALL, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNTIL THEY COME OUT WITH AN UPDATE. It's official, EA's monopoly of the college football game market is causing them to come out with shottier and shottier games each year because they know people will buy it. Don't join the club!

I encountered the same freezing errors that the previous posters have found. So frustrating to have your dynasty stalled because EA SPORTS made a serious mistake in programming. Wish they could offer a fix or a refund/replace for those who have had this problem.

Honest reviews on NCAA Football 13 - Xbox 360

It is not possible to play a complete season on the XBOX360 in Dynasty Mode. At some point, the game will freeze loading your dynasty or during coaching tips as it loads a game. For me Dynasty Mode is what makes the game interesting.

What's worse is, EA Sports is completely unresponsive if the first suggestion (which doesn't work by the way) isn't successful. All your emails will go unanswered after that. It is a complete waste of 60 dollars.

Dynasty mode is what drives this franchise, and it simply doesn't work in NCAA Football 13. After a few hours, it freezes on the load screen to a game, usually mid-season. I have played multiple dynasties with multiple schools, and the freezing issue comes up each time and makes the Dynasty non-functional. The only recourse is to shut the Xbox off with the main power button.

Truly a waste of money. Shame on you, EA. Shame on you.

This system is incredible. By now you either love it or hate it, so I won't go into details. But here's a word of warning on the 80 GB model. The backwards compatibility is very much reduced from the 60 GB model. This is because the 80 GB lacks the hardware that previous models use to play PS1 and PS2 games (Emotion Engine). Now, games from old systems run on emulation software. While this works with some titles, others don't work right at all. Sony promises to release patches with future system updates, but they've also said their priority will be with developing PS3 games and not spending time and energy on PS1 and 2.

So if backwards compatibility is a big selling point for you, get the 60 GB model instead (while they're still around...remember they've been discontinued). Also noteworthy is that hard drives on the 60 GB model are fully upgradable with any HDD drive on the market.

Let me restate this, however. The PlayStation 3 really IS the greatest console of this generation. It's power and capabilities are just downright colossal.

For all of you considering the PS3 this is one of the best choices you can make when it comes to home entertainment. Gaming and multimedia are taken to the next level.

First getting my hands on the PS3 made me realize that this is the largest Playstation conosle by volume and weight they have ever come out with. I quickly realized how sturdy and well made this product is. The plastic that is used is solid and heavy duty. I also realized how easy dust and fingerprints attract to the shiny finish which is both plastic and fake chrome. Connecting the PS3 was the easy part. Unlike the Wii and 360 Sony has left the power station inside the console. Which means you only need one heavy duty plug to connect. From the back of the console you have many choices for video and audio outputs. The standard AV outlet is there which allows you to play with the cables it comes with or to buy component cables for high definition viewing. You also have a optical digital output for full digital sound. New to any video game console is HDMI output. This allows you to have the PS3 in full high definiton video and audio. HDMI is capable of a full digital signal allowing 1080p true high definition picture. It is also capable of unleashing 7.1 high definition sound. So audiophiles should be happy about what this console offers. On the front end you get three memory card slots which are hidden behing a plastic door...so as to not diminish the appearance of the PS3. Also they included four USB outlets. This allows you to connect various devices like a photo camera, internet camera, mouse, or even a printer. The Sony PS3 has a feature that allows it to be on standby at all times. Which is similar to the other consoles. I will talk more about this feature on the PS3 further in the review.

I would like to cover all the interface options the PS3 accompanies seperately so consumers can become aware of all the advantages this console carries. For those of you familiar with the Playstation Portable this interface is almost exactly the same.

You are able to create seperate logins for anyone who uses the PS3. This allows for each person to go online with their information. Although it doesn't really have many more advantages than that right now it is rather insignificant.

Next is the system settings. This allows the user to adapt the PS3 to their television and sound system. You can adjust the high defention settings to fit the maximum resolution of your t.v. You also have setting for your blue tooth devices and internet connections. The PS3 comes with built in wi-fi which seems to have a strong connection that gives you almost seamless online use.

The PS3 also has a photo viewer. You can download photos by two different means. One is by using your camera and connecting it via USB. I haven't checked to see how viable this option is. Next you can download the pictures with a memory card. This operation is rather simple and downloads are quick. Generally you get your standard slide shows although they have a fun feature. It allows you to view your pictures on a blank canvas as they fall onto the blank canvas. Slide shows are best when you set them to your music.

Next is the music player. You can dowload songs by two different means. One being memory card and the other cd. Songs download much quicker via memory card than cd. Although Sony has talked about having downloads via the internet which I think would go over very well. You can listen to music while viewing a feature that uses colors and textures. It is your standard music viewer...nothing special there.

I want to talk about one of the most notorious features of the PS3. The Bluray player. Most of you now know what a Bluray player is and does. I have viewed numerous movies on it. I have also viewed these movies on two different hdtv's. One a 1080p and a 1080i. I really did not notice much of a picture difference. After viewing a few movies on the XBox 360 hddvd player and the PS3 Bluray player I really did not notice much of a difference. One thing I have noticed about hd movies is that the ones more than a couple years older have a slightly grainy appearance since they were remastered for high definition. Newly made movies appear crystal clear with vivid colors and tremoundous definition. The PS3 does allow you to view regular DVD's which can make the transition that much easier. The regular DVD movies are upscaled on your HDTV allowing an excellent picture. For many of the new movies it is almost difficult to notice a difference in a DVD picture and Blu-ray picture.

Now would be the gameplay part of the interface. This keeps track of the game disc you may have in the player or also games or demos that you have downloaded. This interface is rather simple and easy to negotiate. For any PS2 owner it also carries your virtual memory card with all your game data. As far as the games go I have played numerous games plus several demos. The games that are non exclusive like Madden Football are deficent on the PS3 compared to XBox 360 counterparts. The game speed is smooth and polished. The visuals on exclusive PS3 games like Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank is quite impressive. The PS3 seems to create a living vivid environment with the ability to create many textures and surfaces. Game demos like Motorstorm and Gran Turismo HD show what the PS3 is capable of. Amazing graphics and sound quality will become apparent in many of the games this holiday season and beyond. I have also enjoyed the few full games that are downloadable. The games have enhanced hd graphics and are affordable at only $7.99-$9.99. What I have enjoyed is online gaming. With the PS3 you don't have to pay any added fees. The gameplay was seamless and quick and allows you to use a blue tooth headset when playing. I also believe you can use your PS2 headset via USB. The online gaming is virtually the same as the 360.

Lastly I will cover the online features of the PS3. On the interface online is a big part. From the browser to having friends and checking your mail. Of course the largest feature is the Playstation store. Which is obviously not very unique. The 360 has a market which could be considered the pedigree for consoles. The Wii is limited to just classic video games. The Playstation store is decent right now with very numerous items to download. You have games, demos, and movie trailers. The store will continue to grow and has a nice feature that allows you to dowload PSone games for the Playstation Portable (PSP). After dowloading it to your PS3 then you transfer it via USB to your PSP. Also a very intriguing feature that I think is really amazing is called remote play. When your PSP is integrated into your PS3 you have the ability to view and listen to stuff on your PS3 anywhere in the world with your PSP. All you need is a wifi connection. I have tried this feature out and it's really enjoyable. I was able to view movie trailers and listen to my music on my PSP. The feature is nice although it is supposed to work when the PS3 is on standby. It did not work for me then. Only when the PS3 was on and set for remote play.

There are also two features that are becoming more apparent for owners. Folding at Home is a beneficial program that works with Stanford University. The program runs when your PS3 is idle. What it does is run computations that help scientists work for many cures to diseases. A beneficial plus to the PS3. I can vouch for having my PS3 on nonstop 24 hours a day 7 days a week for many months without any problems. Secondly I want to talk about HOME. No not your real home but the PS3 program that will be available early 2008. This program will be a virtual online social interface allowing you to meet numerous other PS3 players. I have been allowed to participate on the Beta version and I must say this has extreme potential.

2008 will be an exciting year for PS3 owners. The experience is already excellent with over a dozen very good games. The PS3 will have over a half dozen superb games releasing next year. Games like Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy are just the beginning. If any of these games suit you it would be an excellent reason to own a PS3.

In closing I will say without a doubt the PS3 has been quite an experience. I feel the $500 is well worth it for the features you get. Wifi, Bluray, memory card readers, HDMI, and of course the game playing.

I believe many of you are on the fence and trying to justify a large scale purchase like this. The games are here and the experience is superb. If you want a wonderful living room centerpiece that will provide numerous hours of use the PS3 is the way to go.

This 80G system is basically the same as 60G, but there is some hardware reduction which leads to manufacturing cost reduction. But Sony probably won't pass on the savings to the consumers since they've been selling PS3 at loss since launch.

One of the hardware reduction is EE+GS removal which is responsible for PS and PS2 backward compatibility. Now the new 80G system's backward compatibility will rely on software emulation. We all know dedicated hardware is better than software emulation. So this raises a little concern.

Other hardware modifications for cost reduction are consolidation of some ICs into a single chip and moving to smaller 65nm die cell processor. This will reduce the complexity of the board. Also smaller die means less power consumption which also means less heat dispassion from the components.

So whether you want to buy new 80G system or phasing out 60G system is up to how you feel about the hardware changes. If removal of backward compatibility hardware concerns you, buy 60G system before it's all gone, not to mention it's $100 cheaper. If you think additional 20G hard drive space (which really isn't much) is important to you, buy 80G system. 80G system probably runs much cooler too. Either way it's a great system.

Honest reviews on PlayStation 3 80GB MotorStorm Bundle

Some background. I have had an XBox 360 for 1 year now. I have had a Wii for about a month. I decided to pick up a PS3 recently (80GB + Motorstorm) since I am expecting some decent games to be coming out on the system, and I'm peeved that we still have this HD-DVD vs. Blu Ray war being fought (I have the HD drive on the 360).

So, my perspective from having all three systems is:

The Wii is really fun to play, really, really fun. The enjoyment level of being immersed with the controller in even hokey ways (Super Mario Galaxy) is a nice change from the same gameplay/controllers we've seen repackaged since the PS1 days except in shinier packages.

That said, I do get tired of it (literally in some cases!) after a while, and yes, yearn for 'eye candy'. It's silly, and maybe I'm a bit shallow but it's true.

The XBox 360 has delivered on the eye candy side of the equation with games like Gears of War, Halo 3, and Mass Effect (I have yet to pick up Mass Effect however). But, the more I play the 360, the more I feel like I should be playing these games on a PC. It seems to lack the same charm a game console has. Also, our 360 has already been replaced once due to the "Ring of Death", and ever since my wife got bored playing Viva Pinata, we do not really turn it on much except to play HD-DVDs. It's incredibly loud as well, which means that using it for Media Playback is non-optimal (in our room anyway).

So, hearing of games coming out shortly for the PS3 that is starting to flex that system's muscle, I decided to pick one up.

I wanted to pick up Motorstorm, so the 80GB package seemed ideal. Especially due to the fact that I do not have any PS2 games. So backwards compatibility is a non-issue for me.

I took it home and unpacked it. This system is SUBSTANTIAL. WOW. You do feel like you got your $499 worth in weight anyway. That is until you feel the controller. Sorry, but the XBox 360 controller FAR exceeds the ergonomics of the SixAxis. The weight (or lack thereof) of the SixAxis makes it feel really flimsy in comparison. In addition, my hands feel cramped. Maybe due to the XBox being developed in the US, it was developed for American sized hands. I am Indian (as in from India) by ethnicity so it's not like I'm a 6'5" cowboy from Texas!

Put it next to the 360 in my cabinet. The 360 looks very cheap, but the PS3 has a very odd design to it that just doesn't 'fit right' with anything else. Very odd shape and dimensions. I like Matte finishes on things (does not distract from what the star should be -the picture on the TV) and the (dare I say it?) blingy exterior of the PS3 is a distraction. I'd prefer something low key, personally.

First really big disappointment? This Hi-Def system doesn't come with any hi-def cables. So, they put in a HD Blu-Ray drive, and the system excels at rendering 1080p graphics but they give you an RCA AV cable that would have been cutting edge in the SNES days. Right.

So, an extra $30 later, I have the PS3 hooked up via component cabling to my rear projection TV (no HDMI for that set). The system has a huge update to download once I setup Wifi (which was pretty standard, and easy). I leave it and come back and my system refuses to start up. Or something. For some reason, it appears that it chose a video mode that my TV didn't like after the reboot. Strange. So I hold the power button down for 5 seconds and it reboots into 480 mode. It starts the system update, and another 10 minutes go by before it's ready to use. I set the 1080i mode again and it seems fine in subsequent reboots. Maybe that was a glitch in the system software that it leaves the factory with *shrug*.

I have a PSP, so the PS3 interface is familiar to me. It looks a bit "programmer art" to me on the PS3 for some reason however. Maybe because at 1080i it looks like a lot of monochromatic icons and text shoved onto the screen. I find the 360's UI easier to read and navigate, but really ugly due to the ads and explosions of colors. Somewhere, in between the PS3 UI and the 360's is perfection. Neither has it, though for now, I'd give the 360 the slight advantage.

I browsed the Sony online store for a little bit. Seemed very much like it was trying to be a web browser interface rather than a console UI. It would feel at home to almost any PC user. But is a little odd when you're on a gaming machine. Microsoft gets this part right as well.

Now, the games. I don't have a Blu-Ray disc to test at the moment for movies, but my system did come with Motorstorm. So, I popped it in. First thing I notice is that loads are not as smooth as the 360's. Loading animations have a lot of jerkiness to it, and the game seems to take a lot longer to load than just about any 360 game I have. Now, since this is my only PS3 game this could just be an issue with Motorstorm.

But once I get into the game, I am blown away. Neither Gears, nor Halo 3 blew me away much in-game. Sure, they had some really nicely rendered in-game cinematics (which in Gears would cause frame rate hitching) but Motorstorm is jut gorgeous. The ground deforms, the terrain looks almost photorealistic at times (blur your vision a tiny bit and it starts looking real). I was actually impressed, and was prepared to be a skeptic.

The bad part came after a bit of play time. The controller feels really weird in my hands. The pseudo-triggers modeled after the 360s at the bottom of the SixAxis feels wrong. My hands start to cramp up after a while. I just may have to learn how to grip the thing a little less brutishly. So, I'll continue to play with it. But picking up the 360 controller afterwards, I'm amazed at how that controller fits me like a glove. I also like the staggered analog sticks on the 360. Feels right. I do miss rumble a bit. It's nice feedback.

I went from feeling like I wasted almost $600 (when you factor in an extra controller and the $30 component cables) to feeling pretty good about my purchase. I think the system has a lot of potential. I have yet to play anything multiplayer, but the 360's implementation of Live has probably set the bar here. BUT, the Sony service is FREE. I resent having to pay Microsoft $50 a year.

As to how it stacks up against the 360? Well, I like that I didn't have to pay for WiFi (saved $90), but hated that I had to pay for component cables ($30). I like that I get a hi-def player with the set (almost $200 extra with the 360), and the larger HDD. I like that the system doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner when playing games or movies. But I like the game selection on the 360 *MUCH* more as of today. I dislike the PS3 controller. I dislike in particular, Sony's attitude. It took me a really long time to even warm up to purchasing this box because I really do dislike Sony.

But in the final tally, this is really one impressive machine. But is that enough to make it a better system than the 360, who seems to be getting the best games right now? Doubtful really. Last generation the XBox was the superior machine tech wise. But the PS2 annihilated it in the marketplace. This time, we may see a role reversal. If the 360's hardware was stable, reliable, and quiet it would be a much better box. But as of right now, I'd say the 360 is just a slightly better system because of the games it has.

The Wii is the wildcard in all of this. I find it to be the most enjoyable system of the three currently due to the top notch Mario titles (Galaxy and Paper Mario). Nintendo really is trying something different and the system is *fun*. But the hardcore gamer will probably feel something is missing from their diet if it was the only system that they purchased. Get a 360 or PS3 to balance your gaming needs.

I've owned game consoles since the Atari 2600; all of Nintendo's consoles from the NES to the Gamecube; Playstations 1, 2, and Portable; and Microsoft's original X-Box. In my household currently are all three of the next-gen systems Wii and the 360 (owned by housemates) and now Sony's latest creation, the Playstation 3 (owned by me, by way of Amazon).

I was torn between getting my own 360 Elite, and this system. I took a very hard look at both, and backed both out of my shopping cart multiple times. A number of factors went into my final decision to purchase the Playstation 3.

1. I am a PC gamer first and foremost. My gaming rig with an Intel Quad and an 8800 is my primary platform, and likely always will be. It also means that owning an 360 is a little redundant, as most of the killer apps for that system are also available for the PC. The only exceptions are 360 exclusives like Mass Effect and some (few) games that simply run better on the 360 (Madden '08). Generally speaking, though, having a top-flight PC cancels out a lot of the benefit of owning a 360.

2. The sheer value of the Playstation 3 at this time. As stated by other reviews, $499 gets you a game console, a Blu-Ray player, a media center that can wirelessly connect (out of the box) and stream from your libraries on any Windows Media Player 11 PC, free multiplayer access through PSNet, and far and away the most powerful computer you can get for under a grand (type "Cell BE" into Wikipedia and read up). It's a fully-capable entertainment center and media hub that can power your 1080p/7.1 Home Theatre straight out of the box and it may be the single biggest reason that Blu-Ray will likely win the format war.

With the 360, you pretty much just get the game console ($399-499 if you want the hard drive and HDMI). Want to watch HD-DVDs? Have to buy the extra drive ($150-200). Want wireless networking? Have to buy the wireless adapter ($50-100). Heck, want to play your games while charging your wireless controller? Have to buy the play-and-charge kit ($20). Even XBOX Live, outstanding as it is, costs and extra 5 bucks a month. Geez, Microsoft.

3. The expanding game library. I'm no "fanboy" XBOX at this moment has a superior game lineup. Mass Effect almost made me buy the 360 by itself, and even though I'll be able to play it on my housemate's console, it still kills me not to own it. ;) But 2008 is shaping up to be an outstanding year for Sony's monster. With Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank, Sony finally has some jealousy-inspiring exclusives. It only gets better as the year goes on Final Fantasy XIII, Home, LittleBigPlanet, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear, etc. Game devs and their tools are finally catching up with the Cell BE and that's something to be excited about.

4. Interoperability. I have the PSP, and it can do some pretty wondrous things with the PS3, from streaming media to playing downloaded games. I also plan to get a Sony HD Camcorder that uses the AVCHD format, and the PS3 supports it natively. I have the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone. All these things can work with the Memory Stick Pro Duo from PS3 to PSP to my phone to my PC, I can access movies, pics, MP3s, you name it. That is extremely handy for me. Now, not everyone has that kind of Memory Stick-centric lifestyle, but lemme tell you apart from being annoyed with Sony's penchant for proprietary hardware, it's a beautiful synergy when you do play along. Everything just works.

5. The Red Ring of Death. The new 360 have supposedly solved this problem, and they very likely have, but I won't lie... it was a huge worry for me. My housemate's 360 was out of commission for a month while he had it sent in for repairs. I didn't want that sort of headache. The PS3 doesn't have that sort of recallable flaw, and it's really a load off the mind.

Those were my reasons for buying the Playstation 3, and I was not disappointed in any sense once I got it home and set it up. It's a substantial, attractive, well-engineered piece of hardware, and you're in awe of it as soon as you take it out of the box. After a firmware update and a couple of downloads, I was browsing my entire MP3, video, and photo library wirelessly, and it looked and sounded great streamed right off my PC. I read a couple of my favorite internet forums from the comfort of my couch. I downloaded game demos while playing Ratchet and Clank (great game, by the way). And when I got off for the night, I turned on Folding@Home and did something for humanity :)

If gaming is all you want, and if you don't have a cutting-edge PC, perhaps the 360 and it's killer game lineup is a better option. In all other aspects, Playstation 3 is unbeatable. It's a technophile's dream and an A+ piece of hardware with vast potential, even now and into the immediate future. It's an amazing machine, an evolution of the gaming console, and I for one am proud to say I own a Playstation 3.

A while ago I rented this game and found it to be one of the worst games that I've ever played in my life.

To start things off I'll talk about the graphics. When I played the game I noticed that the screen, while in a dogfight, would start to blur somewhat or get really choppy. That can be accepted over time... Not in this case. As I kept playing it just got worse at times. While playing in the cockpit view it was hard to see what was going on around me as the control panel came up too high. While playing in the third-person perspective was where most of the graphics problems were.

The characters in the game were all annoying to listen to. I hated the voice of the main character most of all. Most (if not all) of the voice acting was pretty bad. The mission briefings and cut scenes were also dreaded because they showed (dare I say it?) the "Paper People." The characters here were all flat and had no emotion to them and only two were on the screen at once. When one of the two people was done talking they'd just scroll right on off and the next person would just scroll right on.

The planes and weapons were also quite dull. The aircraft had decent looks. That's the only good thing I can say about the entire game. That's not my gripe here though. The thing about the planes that really turned me off was the fact that they all felt the same. When you'd get into an Su-47 "Berkut" it felt the same as if it were the starting F-5 or a P-31. The missile lock-on and the missiles themselves were also quite irritating. With the lock-on it usually locked-on too slowly if it did at all. And when you'd fire a missile at a target in the air or on the ground it was just boring. The machine guns were also prety much useless all the time.

The sound was another thing that I had a problem with. The radio chatter mixed with the various sounds and music only came out to be a tool for developing a quick head ache. The music sounded more like techno out of the 80's. The sounds from the planes and everything else sounded like they came out of something that the coyote would use to try and trap the road-runner. And the radio chatter was useless and gave nothing to the game.

Though this game was released almost two years after Namco's Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies, it is still the lesser game. Konami could have looked at AC04 and, seeing what made that such a great game in it's time, used some of that for this game. But they didn't. Since then Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War has come out and has dwarfed what AC04 was. And Konami's AirForce Delta Strike has really shown itself to be a failure.

So if you're looking for a good console flyer then check Namco's Ace Combat 5 or go and play Ace Combat 4. Just don't touch this one.

The missions in this game can be a little confusing but once you play them several times they become pretty entertaining, especially if you like flight simulator games. The briefings and time in between missions can be very dull which is why I gave it 4 stars. Besides that the game is a classic.

I discovered this game rummaging through the shelves of a second rate rental place, and being a fan of the Ace Combat series, I decided to give it a try. AFDS absolutely has is faults, but I am still having a blast with it.

First the bad: the user interface and the overal graphics are pretty mediocre for the time that this title came out. The UI is a series of menus coupled with the text boxes with the characters, and having to get through all those text boxes just to get the options you want can be a little frustrating.

Now the good: This game has well over a 100 flyable airframes, from WWII fighters, to experimental X-planes. The flight modeling is very diverse, with acceleration, turn rate, roll rate, and speed all coming into play for each aircraft.

The challenge of some of the missions is impressive, as well. Some of the missions can come off as impossibly frustrating at first, but they all have a method in which you can complete them you just have to figure out the proper tactic.

Also, I found missle evasion took a bit of skill; it wasn't just hit the afterburners and start turning. You have to use your radar and time your manuever for a successful evasion.

Other opinions: Despite the criticism of this game's cookie-cutter characters, and the voice acting, I got a kick out of it. Having watched a few aviation related animés (Area 88 comes to mind), the expressions, voices, and cutscenes were rather amusing. Most of the cutscenes may only be stills, but there are dozens of them.

I also enjoyed the radio chatter of the missions. It is frequent, and often repetitive, but the over-lapping transmissions in a furious fight really can add to the feel of the game.

Lastly, the learning curve; it is steep. Whenever I have come back to playing this gaming after some time away from it, I tend to get my butt kicked a few times before I get the hang of it again. Probably not ideal for a "pick up and play" casual gamer.

Overall, I enjoyed this game enough to purchase it, and I dont' regret that decision. The missions are diverse, and there are tons of incentives to replaying the storyline, such as hidden animated cutscenes, hidden aircraft, hidden missions, and alternate endings.

Honest reviews on AirForce Delta Strike

First of all I give it 5 stars because the overall rating if far too low. It's at the very least a four star game. I've had the game for a while and just never got around to playing it. I have however played countless flight arcade and flight sim games such as Ace Combat, TC HAWX, Lethal Skies, Aero Elite, some of the Jane's games, Over G Fighters and some others.

This game is not perfect. It did start kinda slow but unlike some of these other reviewers I kept at it and hell, it was way worth it. The gameplay is very customizable and playable for anyone, there are three levels of control: novice, expert and ace with all three allowing customizable button mapping(novice for noobs, expert plays like the AC games and ace will give a more flight sim feel). The game isn't the best with impressions BUT keep playing and you will take on missions of greater variety than any other flight game it's almost ridiculous how much they change it up but it's all good because they're fun especially when you go in SPACE! There are over 130 aircraft in this game including experimental and cameo aircraft like Vic Viper from Gradius. The characters and plot was kind of iffy at first but if you push on you'll fall in love with some of them and lol at the stupid ones. The story is kind of out there and feels almost RPG like. You play different characters in a non linear affair following the guys and squads of your choosing. It takes place in 20X7 with futuristic themes and it works well because it allows for variety like dogfights in space, destroying deadly crap falling towards the planet, attacking orbital elevators, taking on mechs and other weird ships, flying inside of and destroying massive cannons.

You do a lot in this game and big missions feel epic like Luke destroying the Death Star, some require really fancy flying and when you win.. it's just the best feeling and that is one of the major pros with this game. The graphics are great for PS2 I actually favor them over the AC PS2 games, the FPS doesn't seem as smooth as AC but the details like bolts and panels on the individual craft look superior (Yes I directly compared them).

Now what it doesn't do so well.. like I first said the first impressions can be kind of weak. Some of the missions can get confusing or chaotic and the characters talk quite a bit during gameplay. None of these were deal breakers for me I would just every now and then tell my TV to STFU. One thing that annoyed me was when you wreck the plane you get an irritating scolding from two different people whom I hate for this reason, again STFU!! I guess it isn't too bad though if you're like me and believe failures should hold some kind of impact rather than "Oh, I don't care about performance because I can restart from any of the 992134573429857 checkpoints."

All in all I love this game and am on my third round going through it, it is NOT in my opinion completely superior to the AC games but considering when it came out and what it does holy crap is it awesome I would put it on the same level as AC. I hope sometime in the future this series will come back as it is quite the diamond in the rough so I conclude saying that if you have any interest in aircraft and jets you will like this game. Happy shopping.

I picked this game up just a few months ago, and I have to say i have mixed feelings. For me, the game had a fairly steep learning curve. The first few levles are basic fly around, kill anything that moves and are all in the open skies. the levles then turn into "Esscort this highly vulnerable, slow moving, defenceless target down an incredibly narow canyon in a super sonic jet, while taking heavy fire" This is probably due to my lack of practice with console air combat games, but i feel any game should be sucj that a novice should be able to pick it up with out too much work.

Also, i found the controls were flakey. The Novice setting is far too basic and limits one's ablity to develope skills, but the next step up is a huge jump from the previous setup, and were too sensitive.

The voice overs for the "cut scenes" were fairly well done, but the voices in the missions were far too confusing with having not only your comand center sending you info on enemy positions, important comunications from allies(e.g., "Enemy reinforcements ariving soon") but you have to contend with witless banter, dialoge that pertains to the story of the game, and the enemy's comunications.... Place all of this over the music and combat noises, and you cant really get anything out of it. Also, in dogfights, the cannons and machine guns are useless on any enemy not the size of a house.

the game also seems to have had a small budget based on how the cut scenes/dialouge was put togeather with a simple 2d, non animated sprite for the charicters. they have different facial expressions, but that's about it. i personaly enjoy this style, as gives the game an old school feel, but i can see where many would have a problem with it

all in all the game is fun for people who arent as familiar with other arcade flight combat games.

I can't believe I am the first after weeks of this game being released to make a review!

Nonetheless, here we go.

This game is amazing for a portable game. The graphics and sound are just far above what you expect when you think portable gaming and they actually tied the story to the original well too.

Gameplay: The Gameplay is top notch. Not only do you explore towns, talk to NPCs and have the Final Fantasy experience you would expect, but there are also side missions that act as a quick fix incase you don't have enough time to actually focus on the story. You can play these whenever you find a save point and they serve as a nice way to get you some extra potions and experience. Interactivity is similar to what you would find in the classic game as far as finding items by exploring the environment and seeing unique sights because you were curious enough to explore every nook and cranny. There are even side missions like having professor hogo making you face huge monsters in an attempt to kill you because you disturbed him. The Story is what shines the most in this game, and it is by far one of the most engrossing stories of the series.

Graphics: This game seriously looks like the first Kingdom hearts on the PS2. Their facial expressions and animations are the best you can find on a portable system to date. This game could be ported to the PS2 and considered to have gorgeous graphics. The CG scenes are on par with Advent Children.

Sound: The Voice acting is actually pretty good, and the music from Final Fantasy VII that was redone for the game isn't bad either, but the new music to the game is pretty forgettable. I honestly can't stand the shinra building's theme, which feels like it is 10 seconds long and just set to loop. This is one of the game's biggest strengths and downfalls at the same time.

Replay Value: You could speed through the story and still expect hours upon hours to be spent doing side missions. The story itself takes a good amount of time to beat. Expect to invest maybe 30 hours into this game.

This game is a fantastic deal. Expect to have a blast with it and you wont be disappointed.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are some things to this game that you might want to take into consideration. I started playing this game on my old PSP then early into it bought the new model. The difference is HUGE. The load times on the new PSP are cut not only in half, but takes the load time from up to 18 seconds at some points to maybe 3-4 tops. There is also a very low amount of blur when Zack is running around on the screen on the new one compared to the old one. The new screen is brighter, higher refresh rate and the load time on the new one is way shorter. The new PSP is almost a must for this game otherwise load times will destroy the experience.

Since the other review is very lengthy, and covers pretty much everything, I'll keep this short and sweet. If you're a fan of the Final Fantasy series (particularly VII) then you should buy this game. If you don't have a PSP, this game is worth buying one for. I didn't have a PSP, this game came out, I bought a PSP to play it, I am extremely happy with my decision. I do recommend playing through Final Fantasy VII first as you will appreciate the characters, environments, and cameos a little more. If you do happen to play this first, I can almost guarantee you'll be shopping for a copy of VII when you're done.

Best Deals for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Sony PSP

I was never too fond of RPG's when I was younger, no matter how much I loved video games. Final Fantasy VII changed that, along with how I looked at the genre, as I, like many others, became addicted to the game's emotional storyline and well-rounded characters. Since then, we have seen a number of tie-ins, spin-offs, and even feature films based on the Final Fantasy VII universe, and now, Crisis Core has finally arrived. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is a prequel to the game, where you play as Cloud's old friend and partner Zack, and uncover secrets and revelations that are full of surprises, and lead up to the events of Final Fantasy VII. First off, the game is is simply gorgeous to look at. Not just the cut-scenes, which themselves are beautiful and stunning, but even the in-game graphics look great, making this undoubtedly the best looking RPG to hit the PSP, and the game's voice acting is even better. The game's combat system is also worth mentioning because it isn't quite turn based, and isn't quite real time. Instead, it is a fast moving system that is quite fun in itself, even if it may come off as a bit too easy for some. Leveling up and performing Limit Breaks is now determined by the slot machine-esque DMW system, which is a fun little twist as well. There are familiar characters abound as well: Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, and of course, Sephiroth. The game's story wonderfully weaves into FFVII mythology, and offers some new perspectives on Zack and Sephiroth, and those respects alone, Crisis Core is worth picking up. All in all, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is a stunning achievement that is an absolute essential addition to your PSP library, and needless to say, if you love everything Final Fantasy VII and you own a PSP, you have to pick up Crisis Core.

Honest reviews on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Sony PSP

First off I will just say I loved the game, but there are a few areas I'm going to note on in my review that could have used a bit of work. So don't think this is any sort of hate-bashing review, because it isn't.

First I will cover the scales. 1 is the worst, 10 is the best

Story: 10 Accurate and informative. Takes you back and reveals the FF7 history

Battle System: 6 I will explain this in detail below as to why it is a 6

Game Mechanics: 8 Decent convenience factors added such as stores and missions from the main menu

Replay Value: 5 to 8, situational based Will explain below

Graphics & Visuals: 10 Top notch for a hand held

Game flow: 8 This is how often you actually get to play the game without being interrupted by cut scenes or movies

Mini-games: 7 Some are enjoyable, others are very tedious after a while

Over-all: 8.5 Extremely enjoyable, has a few faults, but none detract too much from the overall enjoyment.

-------

Further Explanations of above noted sections, note these are going to be the faults I found, that doesn't mean this game is bad, it just means it has these faults as any game has a few:

Battle system-

You may be asking why I rated this so low, well... while the non turn-based elements that they incorporated into this game are good in theory, in practice they are a bit cumbersome in places. The first place they missed a bit here, was the DMW system. Now you might be thinking, "Yes, I have read about how people don't like the system". The problem is, it is not that I don't like the system, I just think that they could have polished a few elements with it. I will name these polish points as "smudges".

First smudge 'phase modulations', you will on countless occasions run into a situation where you are JUST about to finish off the last monster and end a battle when you get forced into one of these phase modulations. Sure it's cool the first few times to finish off the monster with a cool attack, but after this happens 20+ times it will start to irritate you because you just want to kill that last monster and move on. A lot of the times when this happens you will get either a useless result out of it, No result, or a longer attack that finishes off the monster but was a waste of time since you were just about to deal the killing blow with your sword. The useless result factor comes into play when you get a buff to an element that was already maxed/buffed before the phase modulation. They also on occasion added flashing images while the DMW is spinning the middle image. These images cannot be bypassed after seeing them a first time, which wastes even more of your time. This also leads into my next area to cover.

Smudge two, Phase Modulation Attacks Aside from not being able to skip the aforementioned images the attacks that come from the DMW also cannot be skipped. The summon attacks you get can be skipped, however only certain ones. Why SE (Square-enix) chose to punish the player like this by making them watch the same attacks over and over without the option to bypass them after the first few times is beyond me. It just adds even more wasted time to what could have otherwise been a good idea, if only they added an option to skip these after the first time it would have been MUCH better. Do you as a player honestly -WANTto sit through the same 5-10sec long attack sequence over 50 times throughout the game? I didn't either. You can also land a 'late' phase modulation attack which will occur after you've killed all the monsters. That means you will have to watch the sequence anyway, even after the battle should have ended.

That is it for the things that could have been fixed with the DMW, the next aspect that didn't seem to work quite as well as it could have, would be the pace of the battles being too fast to actually execute needed commands. You will be left running and dodging just so you can use a healing item, or curative spell. It isn't hard to scroll over to items or a spell, but with the speed of the battles and the constant attacks coming from the monsters it makes it very difficult to pull off. Far more difficult that it needs to be. This adds to the 'cumbersome' factor that I mentioned above.

Replay Value elements mentioned above:

This game has replay value, that I won't deny, however depending on how you played the first time through it could either have great replay value, or almost none at all. If you went through the game the first time just to see the story and play the game casually then the second play-through with the New Game+ will be enjoyable. However, if you spent time getting levels, powerful items, and doing all the missions then your second play through will be so easy that most replay value will be taken out. The only remaining value at that point would be to watch the story a second time. While this is enjoyable the rest of the game will have almost all of the challenge removed. I don't recommend a New Game+ if you went through and made your character a powerhouse. If you fit this category then you will get more replay value if you simply start the game over from scratch.

Finally, I am going to cover missions. Since this is one of the major side-quests/mini-games in CC. This is also why that section only received a 7. Mission, these were a GREAT idea, HOWEVER, poorly implemented. Why do I feel these were poorly implemented? I feel SE wasted far too much time working on the quantity of missions, but didn't spend as much time working on their quality. As you play through them you will notice there are only about 10-15 maps total that get recycled over and over again in different ways. There are some places where dialogue is also recycled. However there are very few missions where you actually get dialogue, and only one mission where you get dialogue scenes in every sub-mission. The lack of dialogue adds to the fact that they didn't have any real storyline added to the missions. It was pretty much just: Accept mission, collect items in a recycled map, find and fight mission objective boss/monsters, rinse and repeat. After the first 150 or so missions of doing exactly what I just mentioned it will get painfully tedious. All tedium could have been removed had they just cut the missions in half, to say 150, and used the rest of the time adding quality to them. In other words, adding storyline or making a larger selection of maps. Personally I don't care if they recycled the maps, but I wish they added some sort of storyline to missions so that they weren't just the same exact thing repeated over and over again x300. In fact, after the 153rd or so mission I started to get more enjoyment out of reading the Shinra briefs you get when selecting the mission than doing the missions themselves.

-----

Phew! Now with all of that out of the way (Sorry I am long winded) I'll get to the actual review since I covered a lot of things above this might be shorter than the above areas.

CC, being the prequel to the very famous FF7 delivers what I consider to be a KO punch as a game. The storyline does not disappoint you, if you were playing this game in hopes to learn what happened before FF7 then you will not be disappointed. The flow of the story I felt was very smooth and well organized. From the development of bonds such as you will see Cloud and Zack form, to Sephiroth's descent into insanity. All of this in recognizable locations from FF7 that have been redone in stunningly beautiful graphics. The game starts out right away grabbing you firmly with a great action movie sequence done in what can only be described as PS3 quality graphics. I was shocked at just how detailed and realistic this was for a hand-held system. The real-time graphics (what you see when you are running around fighting, etc) are not as high quality as the movie sequences, but they are still amazing. The movies give the graphics a 10, while the real-time graphics get an 8. They are still visually amazing for a hand-held system.

CC has also added something new to familiar elements such as materia. They have added what they call a materia fusion system. While I found this system to be a bit more confusing that it needs to be you can easily find information about it online and it adds a bit of an interesting twist and gives you something to work toward in strengthening a certain materia with specific stats. If you just wish to experiment it will provide plenty of that. However if you plan to seriously work on it then I'd highly suggest reading up on it because it is very difficult to figure some things out on your own.

Phoenix downs in this game have also received a slight change in functionality. Since you are the only one that will be fighting monsters and bosses instead of using it on a fallen comrade you either use it on yourself during battle, or out of battle. What this then does is give you a buff called "raise" that does not go away until you die. When you die this buff instantly revives you with full HP. Very helpful for certain bosses, what this basically means is, if you have enough phoenix downs you can survive indefinitely as long as you always keep one active on yourself.

The battle system, as mentioned above, goes off of the new DMW system. Which is something like a slot machine. Most of which consists of random results and overall not one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. Adds a bit too much of a clunky and at times very interrupting element to the game. It is also incorporated into how you level up. Now, while I was not overly thrilled with how you level up in this game, I've learned that it is far from random. The level up system goes based off of what would seem like random DMW spins, but there is still hidden EXP that comes into play. When you get a certain amount of EXP over what you need for your level the DMW will have a 100% chance to hit the level up spin. This was confirmed when I was cursed and fought for about an hour, then after the curse wore off leveled up 5 times in a row.

I didn't much care for the "Activating Combat Mode" and "Conflict Resolved" messages before and after every battle. Had they given you the option to enable or disable these then it would have been alright. The problem here is that after these messages happen for the 500th time they will start to either get stuck in your head, give you a headache, or just become -reallyirritating.

CC brings back an old element that you might have seen in other games you may have played. The ability to break the traditional 9999 values that we've been accustomed to, with the use of special accessories and materia fusion. With the right items you can get your HP to 99,999, and your MP and AP to 9999. Furthermore you have the ability to do upwards of 99,999 damage with a single attack. It all depends on what you have equipped and what abilities you use.

In CC you get two combat bars other than your HP. The other two would be your MP, and your AP. MP should be self-explanatory, it is used to cast magic spells. Your AP is used for special attack materia, one such example is an attack materia that has you spin in a circle and attack all enemies around you in a 360 degree strike. There are many many other different types of attack materia that do all sorts of things, but you'll have to find out for yourself.

The musical score in this game has been mixed up a bit. There is old and recognizable themes, some that have been revamped, and others that have not been. This is mixed with a all new musical score that personally I found to be enjoyable. I am one for nostalgia, so I personally would have liked to see more of the old FF7 music in this game, but that's just me.

So what this all boils down to is a very solid game, it has a few places where it could have been improved upon, some places where painful tedium could have been removed, and a few irritating elements that could have either been redone, or completely removed. However no game is going to be perfect in every aspect, this one makes up for the few issues with a compelling and immersive storyline, an overall nostalgic feel, high quality and breath-taking graphics, and a cast of enjoyable characters, new and old. I highly recommend this to anyone, as it is one of the best games for the PSP.

Ah, the Final Fantasy series. Who can forget fine games like Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII?

Of course no one can forget Final Fantasy VII. This is largely because Square-Enix won't let us forget it. We have games like "Before Crisis" and Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, and of course the incredibly well-done movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (Limited Edition Collector's Set) (go find my review of it and vote it helpful! Please? I'll be your friend! ^_^ ). Now into this fray of Final Fantasy fantasticness, we have "Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII".

Now, I never played "Before Crisis" (though neither did anyone else), and I haven't played "Dirge of Cerberus" either, so I can't compare this to those.

What I can do is say that this is one hellishly good game! The graphics are amazing. The music reminds one of the music from the original game without directly copying it (except for in a few places). The plot, at least so far, is compelling and interesting. Further the game really opens up the world we were introduced to way back in 1997.

The game isn't perfect. I still haven't found away to remove the annoying subtitles, and I do have to join in the complaints about how all you really have to do to win is press "X" a lot. Plus having the DMW screen pop up every few moments gets old. I'm also really sick of "Active Combat mode activated" message you get when you go into, well, active combat mode.

That said, this is, without a doubt, one of the finest games on the PSP, joined in competition only by God of War Chains of Olympus (which I also enjoyed). It's probably one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

Overall, if you like good action, great graphics, nice music and a plot you can chew your way through, then buy this game! If you don't like those things, well, heck, why would you buy ANY Final Fantasy game? :)
