This game will frustrate you unless you read the manual.

Once you read the manual you will be able to take advantage of 2 crucial things: multi-target homing missiles; and identifying primary objective targets. Without the latter you will get NOWHERE in the game.

Pros:

Fans will appreciate the art work that can be unlocked in the gameincluding Ralph Mc Quarrie paintings.

You get to check-off one of your childhood todosie fly a Viper. You get to fly from within the cockpit of the viper as well as cylon marauder. If you press and hold the Y button while in this view, your viewpoint turns slightly as if you are turning your headso you can see to the left and right of your cockit.

Cutscenes are pretty cool but unfornately are very grainy.

Game is more enjoyable when you have read the manual and are better able to control the Viper's systems.

Your weapons automatically aim at a target to a limited degreethis gives it the same feel as in the original series. I think more space-sims should do this.

Sound effects of laser cannons and turbo are from the original series.

Game soundtrack is an updated version of the score from the original series.

Cons:

The game is hard and there are no cheats. You have to do things pretty quickly or you will miss your opportunity.

Expect to have to sit thru the first mission at least twice to get through it. First time to get used to the controls. Second time to fully grok the controls from what you've read in the manual. And maybe one more time to really win the mission.

Game sequences between saves are long so if you die you have to start all over.

Cutscenes are grainy.

This game is not worth paying full price, but now that it has hit the bargain bins, I think it is well worth it. Come on, you get to finally check off that "fly a viper" item in your geek-childhood-todo-list. You know the one I'm talking about, the one right below: "Fly down the trench and destroy the Death Star"

I will start with the simple truth: Battlestar Galactica is an extremely difficult game. If one has the patience, it is also a rewarding game that's a lot of fun to play.

The lack of a tutorial makes reading the instruction manual absolutely necessary. Since there are no "free flight" levels, one simply has to learn on the fly. As a bit of advice, read the manual's "targeting" section multiple times. Once you've got this down, the game becomes infinitely easier. In this game, missiles are your best ally.

As pointed out by other reviewers, the lack of save points between mission sections is frustrating, and as the game progresses it may even seem that the game has a personal vendetta against the player, ever requesting further "impossible" tasks, all within the same mission. As a final complaint, certain target objectives are VERY hard to locate, and in true "Death Star" style, are the ONLY vulnerable point on the target.

However, the graphics, cut-scenes, music (especially the music), voice acting, flight control, and vast array of available craft (each with unique traits) are all superb! Real-time missile configuration along with a "fire and forget" locking system alleviate some of the previously mentioned stress. There is a wide variety of mission types (pilot, gunner, bomber) and listening to Adama evolve from eager rookie to vengeful and grizzly veteran is an enjoyable parallel to the player's own gaming experience.

I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a challenging flight sim, but only if one has an abundance of patience.

As a longtime fan of the Battlestar Galactica TV series, it pains me to write this review. But here it is.

Great looking game, lots of attention to detail, but PLEASE believe the other reviews. This game is IMPOSSIBLY difficult and there are almost NO save points between missions. I say this as as a veteran gamer -there is no excuse for having to play a mission for 45 minutes only to die at the end and have to start over from scratch.

After a dozen attempts at a certain level sequence, even the most hardcore gamer will want to kill himself. AVOID this game unless you literally have NO job, NO life, NO time for anything other than ENDLESSSSSS repeats of missions over and over.

With so many top-notch games like Halo and Splinter Cell and Max Payne available, there is NO EXCUSE for this piece of refuse. The tiniest amount of product testing would have prevented ALL these problems. This game was RUSHED to release; OR, the game designers are INCOMPETENT. Take your pick.

In addition, the designers (look them up online), don't reply to emails if you are asking for tips or help. Buy this game only if you are seeking a surefire direct route to migraine headaches.

Again: AVOID THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS!!!

Honest reviews on Battlestar Galactica - Xbox

I was intrigued by the degree of the reviews of this game and being a Galactica fan myself when it first aired, curiosity got the best of me. I give it a big thumbs up.

It is true, the skies are literally crawling with Cylons, your fellow pilots are begging for help, your wingmen need managing, your missile system needs tailoring for the current task, all while being shot at and tracked by enemy missiles with the goal of the mission just a hair's breath away from being a missed opportunity. To top that, you have only one chance at it without having to start the level over. So, it is not for the faint of heart and not the kind of game that would cater to a broader audience. My only experience prior to a similar game where you fly missions to earn metals is the Star Wars Rogue Squadron series and I usually find a way to win by taking unfair advantage of the A.I. Not so easily done in BSG. There are some rare opportunities that make themselves evident, but getting out alive and advancing in the game really rests on how you use the Viper to your advantage. It takes plenty of practice and timing to master evasive maneuvers found in the flight manual, but will make a big difference in not getting hit. Your ship also sports a way to recharge weapons and repair damage and finding time to take advantage of this is also crucial.

As you progress and unlock new material, you will find the game to be a little multimedia center for things Galactica. You can run ingame movies, play DVD ads of the old and new series, see voiceover outtakes with Dirk Benedict, look at Ralph McQuarrie concept paintings, and view ingame models of the ships that you can rotate and examine. The graphics and sound (with an exception to a few voiceovers) truly runs parallel with the series, both old and new. I do agree with other reviews that this game could use a tutorial or training mission. Winning missions is based on how well you survive and with that in mind, it wouldn't hurt to get a hands-on test of the various ships before being thrown literally into a maelstrom without some notion on how to use that ship's abilities. My only other beef would be with replay. It's a short fifteen missions with very distinct goals. It would be great to have a few more missions thrown in or an open ended endurance level where you do nothing, but practice buzzing around the Galactica or baseship and shoot down Cylons until you are picked off. That alone keeps the game from being perfect. However, despite that detail, it's worth it if you like heavy doses of action and nerve wracking sudden death, do or die gameplay.

Visually beautiful, awesome physics (about halfway between real world and the TV series, usually in your favor), perfect soundtrack and voice acting. Story and technology is a seamless blend of old and new series ideas, and the viper is the most fun-to-fly vehicle in any game I've played.

It's worth persisting. Learn to use the 'smart' missiles; eventually you'll be turboing toward the next target long before they hit, confident that they'll find their mark.

The lack of a save option is absolutely insane, especially when you're in one of those @#$% "protect rather suicidal AI teammate" modes, but it's the only thing wrong with the game, hence the 3 ovarall and 5 for fun.

This is the best NASCAR game out there bar none. I am a huge NASCAR fan and I love this game! The playability of the game is excellent and you can spend hours making highly technical adjustments on the car in the garage and they make an amazing difference to how the car handles. If you're not up for such technical things and just want to race, go for it! The cars are set up very well from the get go and you can be very competetive without making any adjustments to the car. Most of the NASCAR stars are depicted in this game along with quite a few drivers that I've never heard of. The tutorial is great as are the one on one challenges against the NASCAR stars. The only complaints I have about this game are the graphics which at times simulate the sun glaring on your windshield which gets annoying at times. Also, I ran into a problem while racing at Martinsville. The race went under caution after the 4th lap and the pace car kept coming off and on to the track. The race didn't go back to green again and it was very frustrating. I haven't faced any other problems with this game. Fix this minor glitch and you've got an AMAZINGLY stunning game!

When I first popped "Nascar Heat" into my X-Box I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. The graphics don't look as impressive as they do with "Nascar Thunder". But as I started to play they game I realized there was no comparison. The race cars have a better feel about them. If you play in the Hardcore mode, (No driver aids) the way I always do, you quickly realize this game is tough too beat. It's harder to win than any other racing game I have. (That's saying a lot.) Both "Thunder" and "Heat have problems with their two road racing courses, way too much slow down. "Heat" is almost impossible to drive on the two road courses with the driving aids turned off. But on the short Nascar ovals "Heat" has it all over "Thunder". The one funny thing about "Heat" is that there is no way to speed up the process when a yellow comes out. You have to wait for the pits to open, (Just like the real Nascar) and then you have to wait several laps before going back to green. My advice, get up and stretch and have a cup and coffee, and be ready to go back to green. Can't wait for this game to get updated. Now get out there and buy a racing wheel and pedals, and you'll never go back to hand controllers again.

This game is so much fun still 6 years after i bought it. Me and my brother still play this game every weekend and have a blast playing it. There are 27 real nascar drivers and 16 fantasy drivers (unfortunately no #15 michael waltrip NAPA car) kind of a bummer that they don't have the 2001 winner of the daytona 500 in here since the game takes place during the 2001 season and no dale earnhardt sr. in the game. Other than that this game rocks, every track except bristol is awesome and even though they left out indy, pocono, chicago, and kansas the rest of the game makes up for it. If you are a NASCAR fan I WOULD HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS GAME, it blows away any EA Sports title in a landslide becasue unlike EA this game actually has a real simulation feel to it along with spectacular crashes and pile ups. The multiplayer is a blast once you get a couple of your friends over and the racing can get pretty intense at times. The beat the heat mode and Race the pro modes are fun also and can really help you become good at the game. Bottom line is this is the BEST NASCAR GAME FOR THE XBOX STILL.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - PC Reviews

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - PC

The Phantom Menace. Sometimes this game seems like an excellent one, while at others it is downright boring and silly.

The graphics, while not the best, are certainly the best i'll ever see on my fast-approaching obsolete computer. They are still pretty impressive though, as are the reflections, particle trails, and other little graphical effects. The sounds and voices are all pretty good too.

While the first few levels and the last few levels are pretty much fun, the Tatooine levels are boring and silly. Also, after playing the jedi for half of the game, you feel immeasurably weak when you are forced to play as panaka or the queen with her wimpy "droid stunner" gun.

The first time you play this game, it is pretty fun and challenging. Most of the puzzles aren't too difficult, but then you get to those jumping puzzles like the one on level three, and due to the awkward POV and controls, it takes twenty minutes to cross that little bit of water. This becomes a constant problem later...little jumping puzzles that take a vast amount of time and get very annoying very fast. It's also annoying running around tatooine, running when people try to kill you but not allowed to kill them, and trying to trade things back and forth.

Fortunately, the darth maul fights are pretty cool.

The second time you play the game, it's extremely easy, and I don't think I died once, and I beat the game in one sitting. Boring, fast, this game is fun the first time but has no replayability value. Add to that the lack of variety in enemies (100's of battle droids with once and a while a destroyer thrown in), and the lack of multiplayer, and you get a game which is decent but not worth the original $50 price.

Now that the price has gone down, if you like these types of games, I'd recommend trying it, but if you prefer shoot-em-up action games, stear clear of this one.

I'm not really much into top of the line graphics and all that stuff. I play a game if it sounds fun. So yeah the graphics aren't the best but the games alot of fun. Several people were complaining about Tatooine levels. If you play it the way you're supposed to then yeah its sorta boring. I don't play it the way I'm supposed to when I've finished the game once. Try attacking some random people or walking throu the dung. Make it interesting do it your way, if you want to run through the streets of Tatooine and killing every person in sight and being chased by all the guards, swinging their vibroaxes at you and yelling "You're a no good killer," and stuff like at you than do so. I've always liked padme in the movies so playing her is pretty fun, yeah when you first get her she has an extremely wimpy stun blaster, but if you look behind you or go into nearby buildings, there are grenades, blasters, and proton torpedo launchers. The level on Coruscant is my least favorite in the entire game, just because running around in the depthes of Coruscaht trying to find Queen Amidala gets annoying. The only other level I don't like is the 4th level, which takes Obi-Wan trying to get Queen Amidala out of Theed, while having to get her past AAT's and bunches of droids, and if you leave her alone too long they'll say "The Queen has been killed," when she alives you get sayings such as "YOu're stepping on my dress," and "I never knew Jedi could be so rude," from her. Overall it's a really fun game just play it your way, explore, do what you please on it, (within what the game allows of course)

The Phantom Menace takes you on a journey through the great moments of the film. It features very sharp looking graphics with a third person view (a la Tomb Raider.) There are many puzzles within the actions scenes. Each of the levels are pretty long and will take time for you to complete. The hardest of which is when you first meet "the mysterious little boy." There isn't much to say bad about the game except that it could have benefited from being first person rather than 3rd. Some of the camera angles are weird. Other than that, this is a very solid effort.

Honest reviews on Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - PC

There weren't enough levels in this game and the graphics where too 2D in some parts. Other than that it's a great game. The action is great and the storyline is pretty good. However Mos Espa is too confusing and Darth Maul is too easy both times you fight him. The game also needed to stay closer to the movie. Other than that it's a great game.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - PC

The graphics weren't the best, but hey, the game was LONG. My favorite levels were the last level ones w/ the Queen(when she has weapons) and w/ Obi-Wan when he tries to reach Qui-Gon and Darth Maul. One thing that I didn't like was the Otoh-Gunga(?) level where if you kill one stupid Gungan you get attacked by all of them. Also every once in a while, you run into some bugs(the computer ones)and then you have to restart your game a lot. The Darth Maul duels were pretty easy too, once you know what you're doing. For anyone stuck on any part of this game I suggest looking up game guides on the internet.

In my opinion, this game is worth the money. So quit staring at the screen and buy it already!

The cable that came with my xbox would block the hdmi port when plugged in, so I couldn't plug both an hdmi cable and digital audio in at the same time (my receiver doesn't have hdmi). However, it is a fairly easy process to remove the plastiic casing around the cable with the digital audio and then both will fit and it works like a charm.

Just take a flat edge screwdriver to the crease in the side of the casing, give it a light tap with a hammer if necessary, and the plastic casing will pop off. Once this is done, both cables fit without a problem. You may want to wrap with electrical tape once the casing is removed.

I purchased this HDMI AV dongle because it was half the price of the official MS dongle but works exactly the same. Why would you want to use this? Well basically it allows you to use a separate HDMI cable for HD video but still able to output analog or digital audio to a separate amp or speaker system without requiring special HDMI audio equipment. Without this dongle you'd have to get audio straight from the HDMI cable which requires one of the newer amps or TVs that can receive HDMI audio.

My LCD doesn't have component inputs so my only choices were HDMI or VGA. I didn't want to go VGA because the video quality is inferior to HDMI so I went for this HDMI AV dongle. The digital HD video quality through HDMI is amazing and for only half the price of the Microsoft dongle. The dongle and included HDMI cable all have gold plated connectors too so the quality is pretty good. I would recommend this HDMI AV dongle/cable to anyone who wants to get clean digital HD video through a simple single HDMI connection.

Best Deals for Hdmi Cable and Adapter for Xbox 360

If you have a surround sound system and want the best quality for a fraction of the cost get this dongle! This also comes with an HDMI cable which I already have enough of but even for the price of what this is I would pay for it just for the dongle! I was so tempted to go out and buy the Microsoft bundle because I wanted my sound ASAP as I was using a headphone jack to audio to my surround sound system. Note that you will need this if you want the best in digital audio as the connection that comes with the Xbox 360 blocks the HDMI port so you can't use both HDMI and optical/analog outputs at the same time... With this dongle you can! 5 out of 5 stars... Gotta run! I hear footsteps behind me in Call of Duty:MW2 due to this great buy!

Honest reviews on Hdmi Cable and Adapter for Xbox 360

I'd recently been in the market for an good HDMI cable for my Xbox360 / HDTV, as component cables are a bit dated now... and I also needed an optical adapter for my new surround headset. I saw them both in a cheap bundle, and decided to take a chance. I'm solidly satisfied with the purchase. The products arrived the next day, neatly packaged, and exactly as the picture shows them. The HDMI works like it should, and is of very sturdy materials. The optical adapter is quite light, and feels kind of cheap and plasticky, but nonetheless does what it should. I'd suggest this product (both) to anyone who needs or wants them. It's worth it!

*NOTE*

1. The component adapter that comes standard on Xbox360's are bigger than this optical adapter, obstructing the HDMI port right next to it, thus making use of an HDMI cable impossible with the old adapter. This adapter is much skinner, and slides in perfectly next to the HDMI.

2. The old Xbox360 adapter sent audio (red / white cables) straight to the television. This adapter has no cords included. With this adapter, separate double-ended cables are needed for the audio. I thankfully found some that came with my new HDTV that I used until I switched over to an optical connection with my headset. You can find them very easily here on Amazon.com, or an electronics store for less than 10 USD or so.

These work flawlessly at a fracion of the price of the official cables. I've never had a problem. If you're wondering whether or not you should shell out the money for the official cables because you're unsure about getting something different....wonder no longer. These are fantastic. I highly recommend them and you can't beat the price. Sometimes the old adage "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply...

The 360 chatpad is a much-needed relief from the thumbstick method of typing messages on Xbox Live.

I have larger hands, so leaving it attached to the controller doesn't bother me while I play games. If you have smaller hands or the chat pad bothers you while playing, you can simply detach or leave detached until you need it to type.

Since it takes up the space on the controller normally allocated to the Xbox Live headset, MS has included a new headset that works with the chatpad.

I found it very easy to type with the chatpad, and overall I think it is a must-have accessory for anyone with a friends list!

The keys light up for easy use in the dark, and there is a one-press MSN button for those that want to chat in between gaming sessions. MS has really outdone themselves on this one. The 360 chatpad is an exceptional accessory for less than the price of a new game!

I'd longed for a thumbboard even before I heard this product was in the works. Using the gamepad to enter text is a serious drag, especially for entering prepaid codes. Once MSN Messenger support was added to Xbox Live, I almost considered plugging in a USB keyboard. But there's just something annoying about switching between a gamepad and a keyboard.

The Chatpad does exactly what it's meant to do. If you've used a Sidekick before, the feel of the keyboard should be immediately familiar but with more of a click. It's easy to use, lets you type fairly fast, and has some nice little features, like a backlight and a dedicated Messenger button, which when pressed will pause the game and pull up a small overlay box of your current Messenger conversation.

The included headset seems like a slight improvement over the original and includes the volume/mute control in the middle of the cord. Because of the change in the plug from the original, you can also use the headset with a phone, if you really want.

The only complaints I have:

* The backspace key is placed in a pretty awful position, to the right of the space bar. That takes some getting used to.

* Occasionally, you might type too fast, and rather than a delay before your typing shows up, characters are simply dropped. Hopefully, that's just a software bug that will be fixed soon.

Overall, this is a good buy if you don't like using a USB keyboard and especially if you are a Messenger user.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Messenger Kit

This little gem is a welcome addition for any gamer that travels and likes to be able to game on a friend's console.

Recovering your gamertag can be a lengthy and frustrating process, mainly because you've got to type in various bits of information to verify the account. I've been the victim of having to do this up to 4 times in a row, hunting for letters and twitching the thumbstick to enter the characters; what a pain!

Yes, you can plug in a USB keyboard, but who really wants to wrestle with one of those? Sitting 3 feet from your console is so 1985.

The Chatpad takes care of that mess quite nicely with satisfyingly clicky key action and fairly accurate recognition on screen. One thing I did have to get used to is that you do not hear a tone when typing in the first capitalised letter in a sentence or word. I type relatively fast, but I've had no problems with the Chatpad or console keeping up with me. Once you get accustomed to the slightly different "shift" buttons (orange and green) to use for characters other than digits and basic letters, you'll find it hard to remember what you ever did before you got your hands on this attachment. No pun intended.

Another little perk is the ready-to-chat MSN Messenger button. It was a bit of a no-brainer since Live players all have Windows Live IDs. I've been able to chat with friends on both the 360 as well as those on the PC without any problem. Again...no USB keyboard hunching or hunting and pecking with the thumbstick or D-pad. Yay!

And lastly, even though I've relatively small hands for a woman, I've had no difficulty with the Chatpad making the controller too bulky or awkward to grip. I haven't made any mistaken key presses or have had the attachment get in the way while gaming.

Really, the only thing I'd like to see by way of new developments for this product is a black version to match my Elite controllers. Black and white might be fashionable in other arenas, but somehow it just doesn't work in this case.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Messenger Kit

Own a 360? You need this pad, you don't know it, but you do =). The pad can be bought in a few different ways be it on its own or bundled I think with a XBox Live Gold membership.

The pad snaps itself snaps in to your 360 controller plugging into your headset port and also the back/bottom two holes of your controller. It can be a bit of a pain to line up the messenger pads input and you have to press kinda hard for it to snap in but at least then you know it's not going anywhere :P. A headset jack at the bottom of the pad means you'll still be able to use your headset with the messenger pad.

As I've owned this for years now and have had it attached while playing all sorts of games (fps, rpg etc.) you really don't even know it's there. But when you have to type in a name, or you just want to write out a quick response to a buddy online it makes it soooooo much easier to do so! Gone are the days of hunting and pecking for the right letters and symbols using the analog stick =). Another bonus is if you bring your controller to a friends' house and need to recover your gamertag on your friends 360, you won't be spelling out your password on the screen for all to see, instead you just type it on the pad and no one's the wiser =).

Looking at this initially in the store I really didn't think I'd need one of these but once you use one you'll wonder just how you survived so long without one.

I love the tactile feel and backlighting on this keypad and recommend it heartily. The only problem I have with it is if you are wanting to use a different headset (I have the turtle beach 5.1 surround with mic) the connection is not the standard one you'll find on the controllers... so they won't just plug in. I ended up having to splice the new (included) headset's cable onto my old headsets' cable. A hack job but it worked. But really, this should have been taken care of in the initial design. =/

I HATED this game. I don't how it plays on the consoles, but it's really hard to move your worms with any precision using the keyboard and mouse on the PC. I strongly recommend you do NOT buy this game for the PC!! A very frustrating experience.

I have been using this product for over 10 years now, I bought my starter pack at game stop and shortly afterwards they quit carrying this. I think because it is too effective for a store that would rather sell you another game instead of you only buying it once. I have Disc Defender film on all my Xbox games, most of my music CD's and most of my DVD movies. I have never had a device fail to read a dick that had this film on it, and there have been a few times I would have lost a game or movie to scratches had it not been for this protective film. Think about how much it costs to buy a new game, or what it costs in gas and time to take a game or movie in to get polished. With the Disk Defender the protection costs but pennies, like insurance for your disk's, with out the hassle of filing a claim. Works great on karaoke disks too, burned cd's, dvd's, ect. If you have money invested in your collection, you should get the Disk Defender and protect your collection. Another thing to consider is that if you ever trade in your games or movies, they will be in mint condition from using this film.

This year I gave the Disk Defender starter kit and the refill to my folks for xmass, they karaoke big time and thier disk's get scratched alot. So it makes a great gift too.

Please be aware that this tool only opens the 360 console. It is NOT a disassembling tool. The hex (Torx) key you are given will not work on the black screws holding the X-clamps down because it is too big. Pick another tool set if you are planning on completely disassembling your console to fix a probable RRoD.

The other complaint that I had was that the aluminum opening tool doesn't it its job so well when you need to stick the 4 and 3 edges into the back of the console to pop it completely off. They are not long enough to reach the clip and so you must push with a lot of force to reach the clips on the back of the console.

It works as advertised, just be careful using it as the edges are sharp enough that I managed to cut my thumb.

My son has not been able to play his Xbox for over a year due to "red light issue". After watching a utube video recommending to purchase this tool to get the game working again. Well low and behold, it really worked. The game system is fully functional. He is ecstatic and loves Amazon. He will be recommending this site to all his friends.

Review of Xbox 360 Controller Cradles

For how little they, they do it so well. Before I bought them I found that I didn't keep my wireless 360 controllers in the best of storage situations when not in use. This changed everything. My two white 360 controllers now sit prominently in a very decorative manor that express how wonderful they are. And besides, they are only $10 for both.

I always had my xbox controllers lying around. They are great for wireless controllers as i have one controller next to sofa and the rest nicely displayed next to my TV. My only complaint for this product is the small rubber stoppers on the bottom of the "legs" comes off easily but hey for the price what do u expect. Overall a must have for those who wish to display their controllers in style

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Controller Cradles

I just received these and they were exactly what I was expecting. You receive two cradles in the package. Each cradle is white with chrome facing towards the bottom. A leg kicks out to help support the bulk of the cradle. Also, each cradle has small rubber grips that is supposed to help prevent the cradle from sliding around. Overall, I think these are a really good idea, but I do see a few minor problems.

I am a big fan of Call of Duty 4, so I need my wired mic plugged into the controller. But, the cradle doesn't allow you to keep your mic plugged in while its on the cradle. The other minor problem I see is the rubber grip on the bottom seems it could easily fall off if heated via the xBox 360.

Like I said, overall, these cradles are a great option for those people who don't have a great place to store their controllers and don't like them just laying on the floor. And, for less than $10, it's a great deal!

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Controller Cradles

These are great if you don't want to just leave your controller lying on the coffee table or on the floor. It gives a place for the controller to be and it displays it nicely. It doesn't take up any more space than the controller would by itself just lying there. I bought mine from Amazon for $4.99 and it comes with 2 cradles.

Pro: holds controller well. displays well.

Con: Nothing. Wall mounting optional would of been great.

Enchanted Arms With Comic -Xbox 360 Review

Enchanted Arms With Comic -Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

First off, let me say that I'm a huge role playing game fan. I have been for as long as I can remember. One of my main gripes with Microsoft's XBox was that there was a huge lack of good RPGs. It seems with the release of Oblivion, which was an action RPG, and the release of this game, which is a turn based RPG, they are off to a good start with the 360.

The battles in this game are fun and strategic. Your characters are placed on grid-like terrain, and it's your job to move them around and position them to be able to attack the enemy. The enemy is also on the same grid, opposite of you. The positions of which your characters are placed at the start of each battle are random, so it does require strategy on your part.

Another huge part of this game is golemn collecting. Think of it as a Pokemon-like collection experience. Many of these golemns have unique powers that will be of great help to you on your journey. Golemns that you can collect are different from normal enemies in that they actually show up visibly on your map, as opposed to the random battles you will enter into to fight normal monsters.

The story is the best part of the game. It starts out slow for the first few hours, and then after a certain event that happens to you in the game, it's full steam ahead.

The main character, Atsuma, is your average meatheaded student who doesn't quite pay attention in class. Throughout the game, his learning curve doesn't seem to improve too much. He's always the last character to figure out what is exactly happening around him. His arm is what ties this story together, as it is the source of a mysterious power. Throughout the game, more backstory about his arm will be revealed to you. At first you will be joined by two characters, Toya and Makoto. Toya is more like a mentor to Atsuma and takes him under his wing at the beginning of the game. Makoto is the game's over-the-top stereotypical gay guy. He's madly in love with Toya and claims himself to be the president of Toya's fan club. Makoto is the source of much of the game's great comic relief for the first few hours of gameplay.

Later in the game, you'll be joined by Karin, Raigar, and Yuki. Karin is a headstrong woman who is part of a group called the "resistance movement". Raigar is Karin's personal bodyguard, who reveals himself to be freakishly strong. When you first meet him, he doesn't talk much, but he'll open up as the game progresses. Yuki is a selfish little girl who's main goal in life is to become the most famous golemn hunter that ever lived. She's also the source of alot of the game's funny dialog as the game goes on, because she has something to say about everything.

Speaking of the dialog, it's suprisingly fresh and natural. It never tries too hard to be funny, and in return you'll find yourself laughing aloud many times throughout the game.

I would love to reveal more of the story to you, but since it's the greatest part of the game, you'll have to get it and see it for yourself. Overall, Enchanted Arms is an enjoyable experience that has a good few fun sidequests to enjoy along with it's main storyline, which should keep you busy for many hours. I'd personally suggest this game to anyone who likes turn based-style battles or anyone who enjoys a fulfilling RPG story.

This is a very solid RPG that has a very similar gameplay and feel to Final Fantasy. IT is definitely worth playing for people who enjoy RPG's. One thing I want to make clear -if you do decide to purchase this game, give it 3 or 4 hours of gameplay before putting it down. It is slow moving at first, but starts to get interesting around the 3-hour marker and gets all the way until the end. So please enjoy.

Fabntastic Game Idea the videos are impressive. This game has some fans in the USA, and it deserves them. What you do is the good old solid RPG stuff talk to people, fight bad guys, become part of an epic story, etc.

The graphics are up to next gen standards and the play is fast and furious when the fighting starts!

Great RPG for the 360 I hope there's more!

Honest reviews on Enchanted Arms With Comic -Xbox 360

This game is nothing special. Its a mediocre RPG, which does nothing to stand out in an overcrowded room full of RPGs.

Ok, thats not entirely true. It does stand out in a few ways.

First, your main character may be the DUMBEST and most mentally inept main character ever. As I sat through the dialouge listening to his comments and questions, I couldnt help but wonder how he remembered to breath without someone stapling a note to his forehead reminding him to do so. His competence and observation skills can be accurately compared to a blind drunken monkey with ADHD.

Second, the VOICE ACTING. UGH. Now, the combat voice overs are just fine, as the characters yell out their various elements, attacks, or thank one another for blocking damage for them. However the voice acting for scenes and dialouge is EXCRUCIATING! Everything sounds so painfully forced. The dialouge itself is pretty aweful in that it repeats itself OVER AND OVER! For example, the game may tell you your next goal is inside that cave 30 ft away, as your camera focuses in on it. And by tell you, I mean bombard you with disasterous voice acting untill your willing to do whatever they ask if only they'll make the pain stop. Its clear where you need to go, but after walking over to it, the game will stop and play a nearly identical scene, complete with horrid voice acting, telling you that now you actually need to go INSIDE the cave. INSIDE the cave? What an idea! And here I was planning to LOITER AROUND OUTSIDE IT FOR 3 HOURS. Although, based on the dialouge thats about all your main character is smart enough to do on his own anyway, so its probably a good thing he has a slew of self-proclaimed tour guides following him around.

The combat system, while actually somewhat fun at first, is TERRIBLY unbalanced. Most of the time, battles about as evenly matched as a rabid lion in the ring with a one legged chicken. In normal fights, and about half the boss battles, your party is the rabid lion. In the other 50% of boss fights, however, you become the chicken, as the boss mercilessly and horribly violates your party before you get your first turn. And you cant resurect your party members mid-fight either. The game TRICKS you into THINKING you can, but this is a misconception. Any attempts to resurect a party member in any fight that they could concievably die during, will simply result in them being almost INSTANTLY re-ganked before they can even get a turn. This creates a vicious cycle of resurecting on your turn and your character dying on the enemies turn untill eventually you run out of VP and EP (vitality and ether/magic).

Worse still, is the grid movement system. Its as if at the begining of every fight, your enemy draws a line in the dirt and tells you, your not allowed to cross it, and your character being too mind-numbingly stupid to protest, just blindly follows this rule. Essentially the battle area looks more like a dodgeball court then a warzone, as you hurl attacks across the center line at your opponents on the other side. Did I mention your main characters good attacks are all short range, meaning both he and the target have to be standing next to the center line? And that nearly every enemy in the game after the first 30 mins or so, refuses to do anything except stand in the very back on their side of the court and hurl long range attacks at you?

How about the "rock paper scissors" sounding element system? See, in this game water beats fire, but then again fire also beats water. And every opposing element works this way, so as soon as you realize this, it suddenly stops being about strategy and starts becoming about whos rock is bigger.

And lets not forget the cover system. This is where you can place one character in front of the other, so the character behind suffers less damage from certain area attacks. It sounds great, untill you realize that in every fight where this might actually matter, the opponent COMPLETELY ignores this rule, and rapes both characters in one attack just for being close together. On the other hand, bosses can use this against YOU. Theres even a few bosses that hides in the far corner of their side of the dodgeball court, and place respawning enemies in front, meanwhile hitting your entire party for large damage every turn. Hiding in that far corner means your characters need to cluster together in the front corner of your side JUST so HALF of them can attack, meaning your tightly grouped when those respawning enemies decide to attack with their area moves.

Finally, theres comboing. Comboing is where you decide that one rabid lion isnt enough to thoroughly maul that defenseless chicken, so you call your 3 buddies over for a gang bang. This only really sees use in boss battles, and late game fights. Normal enemies CAN do combos too, but almost never get the chance. However, certain bosses can, and coincidently enough, also seem to delight in tempting you into hurling your xbox controller through the TV screen out of frustration. If you see an enemy begin a combo, you can accurately calculate your odds of survival by pausing the game and fliping a coin. Heads: your whole party dies. Tails: one party member survives long enough for you to make a futile attempt to resurect your teamates before sharing their fate.

Perhaps the only half decent element of the game could be the story itself. While hardly original (main character has a mysterious power, that he must discover more about as he progresses in the game which he will ultimately use to save the world) its not poorly done.

The characters, however, make up for the game almost havign a decent story. In short, your main characters a bumbling idiot, your other 3 permanent members are annoying, and the only decent and likable character in the game leaves your party after the first 15 mins of the game, and never rejoins. Also, and half naked homosexual follows you around for the better part of the game, and your main character cant recognize its one of his fellow students and best friends, because he wears sunglasses, a different color jacket, and changes his accent.

In conclusion, the experience of this game can be simulated by having your spleen removed while simaltaneously hitting your hand with a sledgehammer. If your a masochist with some free time and 20 dollars to spare this game is for you. For all others, do yourself a favor and buy Lost Oddesy instead.

Originally, the only reason I bought this game was for Raikoh from Otogi, I didn't really expect anything much from this than that. Once I started playing though, I soon forgot about Raikoh entirely. In my opinion, this game has a great story that gets you hooked right away. The characters all have their part in this game, you get to see into all their pasts as well as get a feel for what each character's personality is like. Yuki, although she has an annoying voice, ended up being my favorite character.

The gameplay is really enjoyable too. Though I must admit I prefer the Active Time Bar offered in Square games, this game has its own features to it that make an interesting turn base game. The game works on VP(vitality ponts), every time you start a match, as long as you have VP, you'll have full HP and EP(ether points, similar to MP, except EP is consumed for every move made). If you finish a match in the first round, no VP is drained, but the longer a match progresses, more and more VP drains, especially if you faint. Once you have no VP for any character, that character starts with 1 HP and 1 EP. So they're still usable, you just have to heal them. In combat, you work with a team of 4, which you can customize with over a hundred characters. This game works where one side attacks, then the other. Your team is on a grid, you choose one player at a time, move them to where you can, select your attack, repeat. Once you have selected your moves, all your players go, then the opponents. While your team is performing their moves, the game does neat little camera sequences that make it less boring. In longer fights you may run out of EP, no problem. Simply let that character sit off to the side and it will refill gradually, or use an item. One last thing, there is also the EX gauge the fills up and allows you to do deadly specials and an Combination gauge that when full, if you and a teammate attack the same opponent, it does severe damage.

I had gotten this at first without the manga and re-bought again for like 5 bucks in a bargain bin for the book alone. The manga is pretty good, it's a prequel to the game that actually explains a few things that happened. Now though I want them to actually make a series of mangas for this game because I bet they'd be pretty awesome, especially that they'd be able to do alot more detailed scenes of Atsuma fighting.

So for those who enjoy neat turn based games that have not only a gripping story but great characters as well, this game is for you. And anyone else who wants this game for Raikoh, I'll warn that he is at pretty well the end of the game, which is like 50 hours in by the way, and if you are strong enough to unlock him, you could easily beat the game already then. Also, even though he looks awesome, he isn't that great. His one attack that seems to be a selling point is rivaled by Yuki's sniper shot, because instead of just cutting their HP in half, it brings it down to critical and it is long range.
