When THQ went belly up at the end of 2012, the future of their gaming titles were in question. The two bigger ones were WWE and UFC. Once EA Sports grabbed up UFC, it was left in the air who would get WWE. After some negotiating, 2K Sports took WWE under their wing with promise to keep the same development team on board. Thus, WWE 2K14 was born. Now, the hard part is topping WWE 13's phenomenal storyline of the Attitude Era. Wrestlemania 30 is coming up in April of 2014 so why not do a tribute to such a landmark?

WWE 2K14 offers very little to change the game just at first glance. The graphics look pretty identical as do the commentary and WWE 2k14 loading screens. The little changes I noticed were: fixed chokeslam (no longer do people turn inside out when getting a chokeslam, it actually looks natural...when you bust someone open to bleed you can see the blood start to trickle down their face...when you land a big move on an opponent you can see them spread out on the mat almost lifeless....Slobber Knocker mode is back!!....reversals and grapples feel more natural and smoother to operate.

The new game mode, 30 Years of Wrestlemania, brings back a lot of warm and fuzzy nostalgic moments for wrestling fans of yesteryear. In chronological order, you will relive at least one, if not more, moments from each and every Wrestlemania until you get to 29. You have historical objectives required to complete the match so that you can be assured everything is how it happened in real life. This mode is insanely fun. Being there when Hogan bodyslammed Andre the Giant, Hogan defeated Yokozuna in record time, Razor Ramon beat HBK in ladder match, Undertakers greatest matches and when HBK retired Ric Flair...it's all there! The roster from this is very impressive. Older, almost forgotten names like Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy, bigger names that haven't been in games like Yokozuna and Razor Ramon all the way to just retro versions of HBK, Undertaker, Triple H and The Rock. Added to this game is also a Rivalry mode to Universe. This will allow you to have programs with superstars just like in real life that play over a set amount of time.

This game is such a huge improvement on WWE 13 and breathes new life into the series. Hopefully this will bring jaded wrestling fans back to the genre. I don't watch wrestling in real life, but playing this game reminds me of all the awesome moments that I got to live through as a child watching.

Honest reviews on WWE 2K14 - Xbox 360

I know there are some mixed reviews for this game b/c a lot of people see this as rehash of WWE '13. Truth be told it kind of is but BETTER!!! People seem to forget that THQ was still in the process of working on this game before they went out of business in January. So in that regard, I'd cut them some slack.

I think this one of the best games in THQ's collection of wrestling game ever made. It has 30 YWM mode, one of the biggest rosters in a WWE game, Superstar Heads, & slight improvement to Universe Mode & creation suite. Being that this was THQ's last game now under the 2k banner this was well worth the $60 imo plus the DLC.

With that being said, I hope that next year w/WWE 2K15 being 2k's first official wrestling game that 2k start including some serious changes in certain areas of WWE 2k series. I think it's time to start an overhaul with the character models they tend to come off as cartoon-like every year. I think it would be good if 2k went the design that EA uses for the Fight Night series when making the models. They also need to fix the freezing issue when creating a story in story mode that is a pain. I would like to see some elements of GM Mode from the SvR games added in Universe Mode in 2k15 adding rivalries in 2k14 was a good start.

Ghost Recon is a welcome break from death match, you-must-be-on-speed-to-keep-up type games. Instead of pulling a trigger and running around until you kill someone, this game forces you to develop detailed strategies to accomplish your tasks. The action you do encounter (and there is plenty) is intensified by the fact the stakes are much higher -a couple of bullets or a well-placed grenade takes you out of the game. This forces you to develop a properly planned and well executed course of action.

The game is squad based. During single player mode, you play one of six soldiers and can switch between them at any time. Your player leads one squad of three, and you set a course of action for the other squad which is controlled by AI. As you complete missions and tasks, you unlock addition items such as new soldiers to choose from. Surviving missions also increases soldier skill.

Ghost Recon has significant replay value. It has 15 levels and 50 different tasks to complete, but because there are so many strategies that can be used to complete a level, they can be played numerous times with the same enjoyment level. Of course, on-line play adds tremendous replay and excitement.

In my opinion, the mark of a good game is how quickly time slips by while you are playing. Time after time I have intended to wrap up in 10 minutes only to find that an hour has passed. This is a fantastic game.

I do have a few complaints. The graphics are generally good, but can be on the choppy side at times. I have also experienced instances where the AI squad didn't do what I had mapped out. But, for the most part, the game is a welcome addition to my game library.

After burning out on Halo deathmatch and hankering for some good action to get the gaming juices flowing, I finally bought this game a couple weeks ago. The result? I am seriously addicted, and find myself creeping out of bed after the wife is asleep to just try one more mission!

I pretty much missed the whole tactical shooter phenomenon on the PC. I had gotten bored with endless varieties of Quake and tournament deathmatch and more or less gave up on the genre in favor of strategy games that take more thought and planning. So it's been a pleasant surprise to see how far a shooter can be taken and how a game like Ghost Recon is more of a military simulator than anything else.

I wanted a game that has both a compelling single-player mode as well as deathmatch capabilities. Ghost Recon delivers on both. The single player game is great for the ability to select and customize the six soldiers that comprise your squad. You only directly control one at a time, but can guide the actions of the others through a command interface that sets movement waypoints as well as aggressiveness, and you can take control of any soldier at any time. In playing against others you control a squad of three. The command interface and squad set-up interfaces take a bit of getting used to, but I had it down pat after a couple sessions.

The gameplay is great and full of suspense and anticipation. You usually need to proceed through the map very carefully, keeping a low stance to evade detection while constantly scanning the terrain for your enemies. Unlike Halo, in which your targetting reticle lights up when it scans over an opponent, you may be unsure at times over what you're really aiming at: an enemy soldier or just a tree? Also, forget about taking insane amounts of damage or finding a "health pack" to fix your wounds. A couple shots will kill your soldiers, and if they get wounded, they limp around for the rest of the mission. If they die, you lose that character forever and have to train a newbie for your next mission.

The game is great at creating a sort of spooky atmosphere. You are plunked down in a strange area with a map but no idea where your enemies are. The blowing wind makes trees sway and rustle, adding random movement that keeps you constantly on your toes. When gunfire has erupted from aside or behind me, I have literally jumped in my seat. One drawback is the total lack of interactivity with the environment. You cannot pickup objects, even weapons or ammo from your own dead. You cannot even open or close doors.

I have seen lots of complaints about graphics and while they are not stellar, as in Splinter Cell, they are good enough to convey a sense of realism. There are also complaints that the AI is too dumb to rely on to guide your other squad members. My biggest gripe with the AI is that it is sometimes TOO effective. Often my soldiers have taken out the enemy without me ever seeing where they bad guy was. I wish there was some sort of notification after which you could instruct your unit to fire at will or something. The bad guy AI is generally decent, with them running for cover, etc. In one scenario, I watched a dude drop to the ground, then crawl around the other side of a car, then re-emerge to try to shoot at me.

The only other main complaint I have is that the deathmatch option only supports two people playing on one Xbox, as opposed to the four allowed by Halo. And I understand if you do a system link, it is only one person per box. Unfortunately I am living outside the US and don't have access to Xbox Live, but everything I have read says this game rocks when playing multiplayer online.

It short, Ghost Recon has a few shortcomings, but the outstanding gameplay simply overrides all of that. This is one of the best game purchases I have made -up there with Halo and Max Payne. I am a new convert to tactical shooters, and will definitely keep my eye on further Tom Clancy-tagged games and those from the wizzes at Ubi Soft.

Best Deals for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Xbox

With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, squad based combat on the XBox lets you play through single player missions or take it online with XBox Live for up to 16 simultaneous players.

Gameplay involves you running a team of up to 6 members. The team members can be snipers, foot soldiers, engineers, and more. As in Rainbox Six, you can build your teammates up through the levels so they can gain more skills.

The single player missions are interesting, with landscapes varying from countryside to small towns to big city streets. You have to use stealth and strategy to achieve your objectives without dying or running out of ammo. Each teammate must use his strengths and help cover for each other's weaknesses.

The graphics aren't exactly stunning while the buildings have windows and doors drawn on them, for example, you can't shoot out the windows. It's more like they are giant squares with murals painting on them. On the other hand, the human bodies are extremely well done, with their movement and actions.

The sounds are immersive and draw you in. There's background noises of wind and cars which can make it harder for you to hear the footsteps of your enemy ... or at times mask the noise of your own footsteps. If a loud noise happens near you, it gives the realistic temporary 'underwater' sensation as in real life.

Single player is just practice for the real fun of Ghost Recon XBox Live play. Unlike PS2 or Computer gameplay, with XBox Live you're guaranteed that other players all have a high speed (Cable Modem) connection speed. This means the lag you see in many other on line games is pretty much completely avoided.

We play a ton of games on line and this is one of our current favorites. Recommended for XBox Live owners who enjoy team-based gameplay.

Honest reviews on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Xbox

Quite frankly, I'm shocked that this game hasn't gotten so many good reviews. This is one of the best military sims I've ever played, and I've played quite a few. If you don't believe me, at least download the GR demo somewhere.

Graphics-

I don't really pay much mind to graphics unless they're truly bad or make me think I'm watching something real, and Ghost Recon is neither. The environments are nice, but everything else is only standard.

Gameplay-

This game is rather unforgiving. Where running into one area without being careful can mean the difference between life and a character change, the overall experience is very intense on par with survival horror games. Rambo-to-be's need not apply.

Sound-

Not terribly groundbreaking here, but some of the explosions and gunshot sounds were nice.

Playability and controls-

If you've grown up on run-and-gun games, prepare for a complete mental plastic surgery. The only complains I have here are the enlarging aimers of all Clancy games. They take a bit too long to get small enough. But, since targets (including you) go down at 2 shots at most, this probably won't be a problem anyway. The lack of jumping is a bit odd too.

Replayability-

Through the roof. There are multiple modes for playing each mission. For example, you could do the actual mission, or select firefight mode (where you just have to kill all the baddies) or recon (where you just have to make it to the checkpoint). Both bring suprising longetivity to the game, as well as the many unlockables, and of course, Live play.

First off let me start by saying that Ghost Recon is NOT like Halo. You do not charge in throwing grenades and holding the trigger button for 3 minutes straight. This is a strategy game. Instead of one path you have a wide open area. You could go straight, you could go right, you could go left. Its up to you. The Ghosts are divided into two three-man squads. One squad follows you, and the other you command where to go. This way you can split up or stick together, its your choice. This is a game of patience. You will often be moving only a few feet at a time. Every now and then you have to stop and scope the area for enemies. If you go in fearlessly, you'll be ambushed and killed. Oh that reminds me, this game does not deal with any "life bar" bull. This is realistic. If someone shoots you in the head once, sorry buddy, your dead. You might however get away with a shot to the leg in which case you'll be injured and move slower and your skills will be hindered. Online this is a fantastic game. With some good teammates, you'll have a great time working together. Hell, even with team mates who dont care about you and watch out for themselves only, you'll have a great time. The game's that good. If you dont have Xbox live, you might just wanna rent this and see if you feel like beating the missions on all difficulties and unlocking everything which can get a little repetative but QUITE challenging. I would recommend this game for adults who dont mind strategy, stealth, and planning your course of action. I wouldn't recommend this game to people who would rather take 300 bullets and live and who like to just blast away untill everyone's dead. And to those who say that it's stupid that you cant see your gun, shut the f^ck up and find something relevant to complain about. The only complaints I have about this game is that its not very interactive. Although hiding behind a tree or corner is very effective, you cant go in most buildings and none of the missions require you to flip switches or pick up anything. Also, you can't jump but you CAN crouch, and even lay on the ground. There are tanks in the game but you can't drive them which is a shame too. If this game had drivable vehicles and a few more commands it would be top notch.

Best MDK 2 Deals

MDK 2
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Soul Calibur is fantastic. Jet Grind Radio is innovative. Metropolis Street Racer is addictive. However, looking back now that the DC is fading away, MDK2 is the system's best game.

Why didn't more people buy it?

The visuals are unmatched in console gaming. Even the PS2 version of MDK2 is graphically inferior. The sequence where Kurt must glide from platform to platform is absolutely jaw-dropping...and that's on the FIRST LEVEL. The alien city of Swizzle Firma looks like it was taken straight out of The Fifth Element -vehicles buzz everywhere with no looping or random placement. Everything, from the glowing tip of Max's cigar to Shwang Shwing's snail-like spacecraft, is rendered with meticulous attention to detail and loving care.

Forget Gunbird 2 and Bangai-O. Good games in their own right, yes, but they can't compare to MDK2's challenge. This is the Ultimate Hardcore Game. Climbing the tower with Max's jetpack on level 8 or diffusing the bombs as Doc Hawkins on level 6 will take any gamer a loooong time to complete. But the game always rewards your efforts by taking you to another fantastic environment and presenting a task that is guaranteed to raise your blood pressure. The feeling of victory and accomplishment when successfully navigating these challenges is what gaming is all about.

As games become more mainstream, they are becoming easier in order to recruit more fans. A major tip of the hat to BioWare for crafting the first visually stunning 3D game that retains the challenge of 2D games of the past. The PS2 version of MDK2 contains helpful hints (like Big Red Arrows saying SHOOT HERE) that make the game less than what it's intended to be -really a shame.

The ONLY negative comment I have about MDK2 is that the levels with Kurt are slightly more creative and fun than the Max and Doc levels. I think that if MDK2 had been 10 levels of Kurt, it would have easily been my Favorite Game of All Time. Still, the Top Three isn't bad....control, visuals, audio, even the ludicrous story are all some of the best in the industry.

MDK2 is a gorgeous, genius mix of reflex-driven action and brain-numbing puzzles that no gamer should pass up.

Let me tell you, this game is great in many ways... absolutely stunning graphics, 3 unique characters, a fun premise. So why only three stars? This game is unbelievably, totally, ...-crazily, ludicriously, ridiculously hard. I can't tell you how frustrating it is. I gave up. The enemies are so hard that you think they are bosses, and soon, you actually come to a boss and you just play over and over, and over, and over again...and it never helps. So, I was so mad, I stooped to the lowest level, and no...MDK2 is not supported by Gameshark. So, unless you are a game master over the age of 16, I don't recommend this game.

Best Deals for MDK 2

I had the demo for the original MDK, and was so intrigued by the gameplay that I decided to by the sequal when it was released for Dreamcast. As I expected, the sequal was amazing; beautiful graphics and gameplay. After spending 2 hours on the first level and maybe 1 more on the boss of the first level, I realized that if this game was already so hard, what would the rest be like? From the first level, it only gets harder. Please don't play this game if you have no patience, you will bash your Dreamcast to pieces.

There are three charcters to control, each has their own type of level and controls. Kurt, has a sniper scope helmet, so his levels usually have something to do with shooting distant objects or targets. Max, the robotic dog, carries four guns. His levels are pretty much carnage. And finally, Dr. Hawkins. Being the ingenius scientist that he is, his levels are primarilly complex puzzles.

The controls are a bit strange and take a while to get used to. the A, B, X, and Y buttons control the character. A makes the character move forward, Y backwards, et cetra. The analog stick is the camera stick.

If you want to spend 120+ hours on one video game, then buy this one. I must be insane, because I don't know anyone else that is this obsessed with a like this. Anyone that plays this game at my house gives up after 10 minutes, so be prepared to die a lot and have to redo many sequences multiple times.

The music in MDK 2 is amazing, a great selection of techno and trance, you will see how well the music fits in with the game.

An example of how hard the game gets: In the eight level, (Max is used here), there is a giant nuclear tube that you must climb using a jetpack that automatically refuels when not being used. Around the walls are very small platforms to land on. You must slowly ascend the giant piller stepping platform to platform, while having to deal with 20 or so little spheres that home in on you and shoot. After you finish this painful climb, you realize pointing the camera up, that you are 1/8 done! Now a vertical climb stopping on platforms that are placed above eachother, some that can't be stepped on, if you do, you fall.

It will take to much space to explain more, but that should give you a good idea on the type of challenge in this game. Of course this is one type of challenge, there are lot's of other different types of challenges in this game also. Remember, this is a perfect game for those who like challenge. If your really like challenge then you will really enjoy the final boss, I am convinced that he is impossible to conquear.

I bought this at game stop for about $100. I knew it wasn't going to blow any one away or anything but I thought it would be better than standard noise comming through through the TV. Here is my problem...s... One after I had it hooked uop for about a week the Sub started smoking!!!! I quickly turned off the surround sound and unplugged it and took it apart to see why. I never figured out why everything looked fine so I put it back togather that hasn't happened since??? 2 weak sub it rattles a little bit even before I took it apart. you can't ajust the speaker volume speaker settings. 3 the remote is small and worthless. Every type of remote you have for you tv to your stero to wireless game controllers cross talks to the reciver randomly changing the volume of the surround sound!!!! 4 the blue lights are almost blinding in the dark I had to put a pice of tape over them just to watch movies and play games in the dark 5 you can't change speaker wires since there built into the speakers 6 short rear speaker wires and short front speaker wire also 7 you can't hardly hear the center speaker on 5.1 surround 8 every speaker plugs in to the sub... that being said it is a cheap surround system the front and rear speakers do work well to put out noise the sub and center chanel just suck but if you turn it up to about mid volume it sounds ok ( thats another thing that sucks there is no numbers or any indicator as to how loud the thing is on the remote is a volume up and a volume down and when you press it the center chanel wich has the volume control buttons just flashes blue when your turning it up or down)

Metal Gear Solid is a series that still holds up because Hideo Kojima is a master of his craft. Plain and simple. The story telling is harder to defend of course, but the actual GAME is rock solid. One thing that has always stuck out in my mind is the attention to detail that goes into these games. There's just so many hidden little extras and bizarre jokes mixed with in with seriously good stealth that feels well thought-out. The game's never seem rushed or under-done, everything is right where it should be.

Here's a small wrap up of each game:

----

Metal Gear Solid 2: A lot of fans didn't like this game on release due to the main character swap that occurs early in the game. And to be fair Solid Snake is a hard (near impossible) act to follow... but in retrospect Raiden is solid character who grows a lot throughout the course of the game, and when it's all over you'll grow to like him. Well I think you will. The boss battle are not as numerous, but they're as great as the original Metal Gear Solid (except fro Psycho Mantis of course) and overall I truly believe this is an amazing game with some genuinely awesome twists. That crazy final sword fight, those underwater sections, the weird stuff that happens when the computer virus takes over... there's just so much to love. Plus the attention to detail in the confined areas you constantly find yourself in is brilliant. No corner is ignored, not detail overlooked Kojima and his team put a lot of effort into this game and it shows. And that final after the credits twist... simply excellent.

----

Metal Gear Solid 3: While the core gameplay remains the same in the third game the differences are also pretty significant. Set in the 60s the overall feel of the game is that of a Cold War paranoia, James Bond outlandishness and surviving in extreme isolation. While you always fight against the odds in a Metal Gear game, here it feels like Snake is truly alone. You have to manage Snake's wounds (treating burns and broken bones), switch camo to match your environment and even collect food (which can spoil!) to maintain your energy levels. But don't this fool you, there's still plenty of lighter moments and nice little winks at the camera mixed in with the extreme scenes of violence and torture. What make Metal Gear Solid 3 so great is how badly Snake is beaten down and how much it makes you want to get revenge. And then, after all that, that unforgettable ending... I WON'T spoil it, but it's just brilliant.

----

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: Out of all the Metal Gear Solid games I've invested the most time in this one. The story is quite possibly the strongest in the series it's like the transition from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader (but done SO much better than those crap movies). A man without a country and nothing to lose finds something to fight for and becomes the number one enemy of a country he nearly died for. Snake hit rock bottom here, more than he did in Metal Gear Solid 3, but his rise to power is made that much better because of this.

The game itself is your fairly typical Metal Gear Solid fare, but the added option of recruiting soldiers and managing your own mercenary squad is a lot of fun. Like collecting Pokemon you'll find yourself trying to secure stronger team members and using them to build your army. The core gameplay alone is great, but this addition pushes this game over the edge and makes it truly great.

-----

So what's missing? The original Metal Gear Solid. I understand there may be emulation issues or something like that, but seriously, it's sorely missed in this otherwise great collection. If you think about it you only play as Solid Snake for about half an hour in Metal Gear Solid 2... the rest is all Naked Snake/Big Boss or Raiden. That's a shame, but hey, it's not a deal breaker.

This is an amazing series. If this is your first time I truly envy you (it would so great to play it again, but start with Metal Gear Solid 3, move on to Peace Walker and finish with Metal Gear Solid 2) and if your a returning fan you'll love these games all over again. HD or not, these games are awesome, but the fact that they look this good and come with so many extras (like the original Metal Gear games from the MSX) just solidifies this collection as a must have.

I love the originals. This is a serious I have spent possibly too much money on over the years. Between getting the original release, then the re-releases, I've put hundreds of hours into MGS2/MGS3. At first look this collection is obviously missing one major component, MGS1. Push that aside and focus on the collection as it is, and all seems fantastic.

Graphically the games have never looked better. High resolution visuals, and for the first time full widescreen support make this the best these games have ever looked. If you've played the games they feel just about as you may remember. But it is that "just about" that may be the biggest reason against getting the game on the Xbox 360 over the PS3 version.

I prefer the Xbox 360 controller for gaming. All my friends are on Xbox Live. And I prefer getting achievements instead of Trophies. However anyone who's spent a significant amount of time with these classic PS2 titles can tell you that they take advantage of a very specific function of the Dual Shock controller that few games utilize. MGS2 and MGS3 use the analog buttons of Sony's controller. A style of buttons the Xbox controllers have never had.

On the DS using the Square button (X on Xbox controller) raises your gun. Gently releasing pressure on the Square button allows Snake to lower his gun without firing it. On the Xbox controller you cannot do this, so the gun just fires. The simple work around is to de-equip the weapon. But the problem doesn't end there. Automatic weapons (like an AK47) are aimed by lightly holding the Square button, and fired by pushing the Square button all the way down. Not possible on the Xbox 360 controller due to the buttons being a simple on/off style. So on the Xbox 360 controller when you push X to aim the gun you go immediately into firing the gun in full auto.

This makes using these weapons very tough in the story mode, and make the VR missions involving these automatic weapons harder to complete. In VR you have to time your shots even more carefully since you have to take the animation time of lifting the gun into consideration. You have to aim by just eyeballing the center of the screen. And you still have to burst fire by pressing and releasing X so as not to waste the limited ammo you have.

I'm still having fun with this collection on Xbox 360, but if you've never played these games before on a playstation controller you'll think the game's controls are broken. They are, but only on the Xbox 360. Remembering back it was a similar problem the Xbox 1 version of MGS2:Subsistence suffered from the same issue. At least this time around you don't also have the frame-rate issues the old Xbox version had.

Best Deals for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

This is by far the best example of an Hd collection. It's befitting that it's for one of the most influential franchises of video game history. If you're new to metal gear, now is your chance to catch up on these landmark games, including the first two metal gears only released for the MSX. If you're a vet, relive the magic of Kojima's masterpieces. Great value for the money. Also ignore the guy who rated a 1 star because of peace walker's graphics. it was a PSP game. It was never meant to look like a HD console game. it's only upscaled to look reasonably good on an HDTV. this is for the experience of the metal gear story, For fans, not an entire remake.

Honest reviews on Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

First off, realize that this isn't going to be an unbiased review, my internet handle is taken from this series, I eagerly anticipate anything not only with the Metal Gear title, but anything from Kojima Productions. I have imported games in the past that have not come out in the states from Kojima, namely Policenauts. The day I bought my GBA was for Boktai, I bought a PSP for Metal Gear Acid, but that game stunk as bad as the NES versions of Metal Gear, luckily they released Portable Ops and the 5th pack in title here, Peace Walker, and the only reason, and only game I own for it, I bought an Xbox was for Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance because Konami released it first on the Xbox then, subsequently, on the PS2, my system of choice last gen. Even knowing all of that, as a gamer I can tell you that this is quite possibly the best value in all of gaming, even more so than the Orange Box was. You are getting 5 fully featured games with, arguably (and I will argue the point until my last breath) the best story in video gaming that has spanned the last 25 years. It's the longest running single story using the same character in video games, period. This isn't just Square reusing Moogles or Cid in Final Fantasy games, these are the same characters that first appeared in the Japan-only MSX system 25 years ago until the dramatic, epic, awesome, life-altering conclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PS3 a few years back, (also the sole reason that I bought a PS3, and I bought the Gunmetal Gray PS3 with MGS4 LE pack in).

*Before I go on, I want to make everyone aware that this collection houses the Substance version of Metal Gear Solid 2 and the Subsistence version of Metal Gear Solid 3. What does that mean? Well for Substance you are getting over 300 VR (Virtual Reality) Missions, 5 Snake's Tales Missions, Bomb Disposal Missions; and for Subsistence you are getting the MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake as well as the better camera angle for Snake Eater. There are some things missing from both versions. Substance they left out the demo Snake Skateboarding demo and on Subsistence they took out Snake vs Monkey. These are both understandable removals as they were originally cross-promotions designed to sell Konami's skateboarding game for PS2 and Ape Escape respectively. Still, I do miss sending Snake up a half-pipe to do a kick flip on the top of the Big Shell. Also, the Persistence disc isn't here. Persistence was the fourth disc to come with Subsistence which took all the cut scenes from Snake Eater and made them into a movie. As I said you get 5 of the best games with the best story of all time in video games in this package: Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Metal Gear:

Originally released on the MSX home computer console in Japan only when it came out. Ultra Games took the game and dumbed down most of the stealth elements when they released a version of it on the NES. If you have played, and actually enjoy, the NES Metal Gear then this will be absolutely amazing to you. I thought the NES games were trash, and this game is gold. The first time that this game was released in North America was with the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

In Metal Gear you play as Solid Snake on his very first mission. That's right, he's as green as Meryl was in Metal Gear Solid and as green as Raiden was in Metal Gear Solid 2. You are tasked with infiltrating Outer Heaven in a search and rescue op for your much more experienced team member, Gray Fox. While I won't spoil it, the story was actually mentioned in Metal Gear Solid, so fans of the series should already have an idea of what happened here. The game looks great and the colors are a lot more refined, brighter and vibrant than the dull, boring NES counterpart. The story has the classic twists that Metal Gear has become famous for and it's a very entertaining story during a time when not even many RPG's were known for having major story elements.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

If you are thinking that Snake's Revenge is the NES counterpart of this game, just stop right there. It's not. Snake's Revenge is not Metal Gear cannon and furthermore was publicly denounced by Kojima himself. This is not Snake's Revenge. This is the true sequel to both the red headed step-child that is Metal Gear NES and Metal Gear MSX since they both relatively shared the same story. Again this story was even more touched on in Metal Gear Solid, as that game was this games direct sequel. The joy in playing this game though is to play the events first hand. The standout being the bare-knuckle fight with Gray Fox in the minefield in Zanzibar Land. I had heard about that since the first time I played Metal Gear Solid and had always wanted to go through it. This game has just as good a story as any of the Metal Gear game with just as many twists. It's a great game that should not be passed over by anyone who buys this collection.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

This is the PSP follow up to Portable Ops and the second sequel to Snake Eater. In this game you play as Naked Snake who has taken the moniker of Big Boss after the events of Snake Eater. He has quit taking orders from the CIA and has instead opted to create a haven for societies dejected soldiers after their countries no longer need them once the conflicts they were trained to resolve are over. This is Big Boss creating Outer Heaven, that should be enough to give any Metal Gear fan reading this goosebumps. The story has familiar faces, most notably is Master Miller (Kazuhira or Kaz). Big Boss is still uneasy about how things ended in Snake Eater in reference to his former mentor the Boss. These unresolved feelings, and his previous actions, shape who he will become and his stance on military as it relates to being used as a tool for politicians instead of serving the soldier's own ends. It's a remarkable story, and the Boss' views are fascinating, and they clearly rub off on Big Boss.

The game was designed for the PSP, and while it does look good, it doesn't look as good as Metal Gear Solid 2 or 3.

The game centers around Big Boss completing missions and recruiting soldiers and scientists for Outer Heaven. So not only do you complete missions but you are also responsible for making sure that Outer Heaven is stocked with food, medical supplies and doctors, scientists and enough soldiers to defend it.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance

The PS2 sequel to one of the most influential games from the PSOne. Marked as a disappointment by some with a convoluted story and a confusing ending, but still a masterpiece of stealth gameplay. The first time in the series that you are given non lethal means to drop your foes. You can knock them out, or tranquilize them. Depending on the difficulty you are playing on, tranqs will keep them out forever. The higher the difficulty the less time you get with tranqs.

The Raiden conundrum: A lot of people express a complete and outright hatred for Raiden. While I was just as surprised as everyone else when I got control of this wispy-haired, soft-spoken "hero" I eventually grew to like Raiden and even respect his perspective. This is easier for the American audience as there wasn't any way to really relate to Snake other than just being in awe of his prowess and his views which were shaped by his previous two missions. Now we get to see Snake from another perspective, through this rookie's eyes. We get to feel Snake as a mentor taking Raiden through the ropes during his mission. Helping him along and being there when he needs backup.

This game provided a lot of different gameplay aspects like getting rid of bodies, shadows effecting sneaking, jumping/hanging from rails. It also tried to get the player to be less dependent on the radar. As you have to find the node in each of the Big Shell sections before you can use the radar.

Ocelot returns as the main villain here being the only surviving member of Foxhound from Shadow Moses (Metal Gear Solid), and this is where he took off as one of the best characters that Metal Gear has produced. This game has a lot of memorable moments, but none so much as Raiden fending off nearly 25 Metal Gear Ray units near the end of the game (depending on difficulty, higher difficulty, more Ray units). It's a spectacular scene. This game also sets the stage for Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Subsistence

We come to it at last, the great game of our time. This is my absolute favorite game of all time. Never has an ending of a book, movie, game or anything else effected me as much as this game did. I was actually choked up and had a tear welling up in my eye. It was incredible. I had no idea that characters could be cared about this much, but Kojima found a way. None of his characters are ever disposable, but this game took character development to a whole new level. I really can't say enough about just how marvelous this game truly is. If you play no other Metal Gear game, play this one.

Snake Eater follows Naked Snake on his first mission as a Foxhound agent, first Foxhound mission ever, although the unit is just called Fox now, but it's the unit that will become Foxhound. He fails his first mission and is sent in again to not only clear his name and redeem himself but stop a maniacal lunatic from using a top secret weapon to remove Khrushchev from power and take over Russia. It's a great story. There have been story parts before in the Metal Gear game that have taken from real life, but Snake Eater sits so well in factual recorded history for it's time line and world events that transpired that it could be considered history itself.

Another great game with memorable characters and the single best story in the history of video games. Changes to this game are complete removal of the radar as you know it. This isn't about rushing through a game, this is about sitting still and waiting for your moment to make it through the guards to your next objective. The radar you have is crude and takes batteries. Your weapons silencer will wear down and break. You won't get stealth camo in this game, but you can change your clothes and face paint to match your surroundings and blend in better. You have a percentage that will show you how well blended you are. Pretty much anything 80% or above is very hard for the enemy to detect even if they are walking right past you. Guards don't always follow their own walking paths, and they move more determined and with more purpose, seemingly trying to pick out their environment. There is no more cone of visions where you can stand just outside the blue cone and be invisible to the guard. Guards will see you further than ever before in a Metal Gear game. This is a true stealth, espionage experience, so go slow and enjoy it.

I realize that this has been less of a detailed review of each game and more just mentioning the games strong points. These games have all been reviewed. I was just trying to explain to anyone who might be on the fence, or who has heard negative press about titles or to clear up what is in this package.

first off, i'm going to tell you that this is my favorite games series of all time. second, i got this for $29.99 around the "black friday" time period. what a steal!!!

so....3 games on 2 discs...and without a doubt the best collection released top date. MSG 2 is the subsistence edition and MGS 3 is the substance edition. so there's even more great stuff included. MGS peace walker is included also...and is amazing. i almost bought a psp when it came out so i could play it. its amazing! i'm blown away with how classy and true it is to the series...and it has a bunch of rpg type depth with constructing your army, developing equipment and weapons, and building your base. MGS 2&3 are on one disc and the opening menu is pretty neat. it has the control manual and promotional pictures and posters.(smiles...) lets get to some opinionated numbers and straight details.

gameplay 9.0 MGS 2&3 play similar with button layouts. but 2 has a set/ lock in position camera and 3 allows you move the camera with the stick. also 2 is on a boat and tanker plant, while 3 is mostly outdoors...but does have its urban moments. now, peace walker plays similar, but also very different than the other two. the cqc system is simple and fun. peace walker is mostly outdoors as well, but like 3 it has its urban moments. all games play great once you get the hang of the controls. (i was rusty playing 2...)

graphics 8.5 peace walker was a port from psp, but still looks nice. MGS 2 & 3 aged incredibly well! i was blown away by how gorgeous the opening looked. but those two where ahead of there time graphically. on 3 there is a old nintendo metal gear....it is what it is....pretty fun as well. i'm very please(still) with how wonderful these games look.

music/sound 8.5 classic music. classic sound. superior voice acting. still very solid sound. my only issue is that peace walker sounds kind of funny on my tv. not sure why. anyone else having this issue?

multiplayer ? i have not yet tried the multiplayer on peace walker. but i've been watching videos for quite awhile on it and it looks incredible! 4 player co-op! MGS 3 does not have its multiplayer modes unfortunately. maybe some future dlc...i would be more happy if they just finished MGS rising...or ported MGS 4 so i could finally play it. (sad)....

value 10 with all of the features and games and modes....this is a steal! if you love this series you will be very pleased. i recommend it to anyone and everyone.

i hope this was helpful. if you have any questions, comment and i'll get back to you.

I bought one of these and I used it to record Call Of Duty Games.

It has an input and an output so you don't need splitters.

When I put the output to my TV it was pretty bad quality but it recorded in pretty good quality

It was worth the money.

Took me a while to install but all in all it looks great and with a little more editing done to it the quality looks even better.

Honest reviews on Sabrent VD-GRBR USB 2.0 Video & Audio Capture DVD Maker w/Real Time

The product itself works great, but it was a hassle to get the drivers set up. I'm running Windows 8, so to get it to work I had to go to "Change PC Settings>General>Advanced startup> Restart now>Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Windows Startup Settings>Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" After that it worked flawlessly,it's just not plug and play friendly.

Obviously the quality is standard definition only, but for the price you really can't complain. Just be warned, while this may be the simplest setup(you don't need anything besides what's in the box) the quality on the tv is very low and flickers from time to time. This does not affect the recording in any way but it may be an annoyance to some.

I've had this product for two days and I can say that it definitely doesn't work. I hooked up all the cables in the correct ports but the software continues to tell me to "Press play on your VCR or camcorder to begin" i'm using a HDTV and no I don't have a vcr. The only reason I got this was because the description said that I could record gameplay from it which it clearly doesn't do. And searching Google just gave me solutions i've already done. To further test this out from what the description said, it also stated that it could record from dvd players as well, so i tested it out, to see if it could work with a dvd player instead of a game console and once again when I hit record the software showed "Press play on your VCR or camcorder to begin" this product is a fail. I'll buy something else that I can record gameplay with, to anyone reading this take my advice and don't buy this product. It's not worth the headache, trust me.

I purchased a Saitek Cyborg X joystick for use with the excellent IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 combat flight sim, also purchased from Amazon.com. It's a great joystick, with only a few small shortcomings.

First the good stuff--there are a total of 12 programmable buttons, a programmable rotating trim wheel just below the weapon switches, a rudder control operated by twisting the stick, and a dual throttle lever that can be locked for single engine use. There is an eight-position hat switch in the middle of the four weapon switches at the top of the stick, and two LED's that illuminate the weapon switches, hat switch and trim wheel from above.

On top of all the controls, the Cyborg X is highly adjustable. The top head including the trigger and weapon switches can tilt fore and aft, the length of the stick can be adjusted with the push of a button, and the stick itself can be adjusted fore and aft. A tabbed hex key used for most of the adjustments stows in one of the three joystick supports.

As for smoothness and ease of use, I really like the way Saitek centers this joystick. A spring seats a shallow cone-shaped disk inside another cone when the stick is at center. When the joystick is moved off of center, this makes for very smooth action in all axes, unlike the joysticks used in radio control transmitters. There is about five degrees of slop evident in the stick when it is centered though, due to play between the screw adapter the stick attaches to and the joystick base arm. (The joystick comes disconnected from the base as packaged.) It wouldn't hurt if the manufacturing tolerances were a little tighter here.

All this adjustability comes at a slight price. When you press any of the four weapons switches, the top of the joystick flexes, making them feel somewhat imprecise. The weapons switches also don't close as crisply as the trigger switch does. The last fault I found with it is that, when pushing the joystick far forward, the base can tip forward too. This is because while there is a base leg to the rear of the stick, there are none forward. The two front base legs are mounted laterally.

These are minor quibbles. The Saitek Cyborg X is the best joystick I've ever bought.

Shipping:

Shipping was great. I actually got it in exactly 48 hours via UPS.

Packaging:

When you first get the device, it will be easy to set up ( I won't spoil the assembly for you if you haven't seen it before ). I was really impressed with the packaging for starters.

Software:

I installed the drivers ; quick and easy. I didn't install anything additional but that's up to you. I'm using a iMac (2008) with windows vista ( not sure anymore what level ).

Hardware:

I use this stick with Flight Simulator X. At first the stick was uncomfortable for my hand.

I had to adjust it , which it then became a perfect fit. If you're worried about force feedback, don't. My logitech stick's FF motor died after maybe a year of use. The spring which hold it center and provides a force is good enough.

What I was most excited about but a tad bit disappointed by was the throttle ( more so with FS X than the stick it self ) . It's a dual throttle which can also become single throttle isn't able to control individual engines. They both control all engines whether or not you use one or both. There is also a button that will join the two throttles.

You also have lot of options when it comes to buttons. I actually have less use for my keyboard now that I can put those commands on the stick. There are 10 number keys, a "shift" key , a trigger and dual throttles. The book says you can assign them to commands such as the trim and different engines but you'll have to play around with that in the game you're using it with.

The base can be folded and be put behind your monitor if you have a flat screen LCD monitor to save space. The over all texture and stainless steal of the device is very smooth.

There is a light under the hat switch which can become distracting at times when you push the stick forward during flight. The light for some reason is very intense on that angle so don't look directly into it.

Another thing is when you're pushing the stick forward, the base lifts up. I personally do not mind when flying because the only time I'm really pushing the stick forward is when I'm landing. Even then, I don't even push that hard for the stick to really lift. I only notice that when I'm flying freehand. It might bother some but it's fine with me.

Final:

I would suggest this to anyone who is interested in an adjustable stick, great over all feel and style. Of course there are more advanced sticks around but this certainly is worth the buy for what it offers.

Good:

Easy to instal drivers

Great feel ( texture )

Adjustable

Great Style

Lots of buttons

Space saver

Bad:

Intense blue light

Lifts when pushing stick forward

i own allot of Cyborg products..but this is my first stick..bought it to play HAWX for PC

the GOOD:

-love the finish on the stick its top notch smooth and soft

-blue LED lit thumb trigger

-fully adjustable to the max

-more buttons then you could of dreamed of

-locking/unlockable dual throttle

-comes with its own built in tool for adjustment

-expandable base

-really does assemble in seconds

-great response in Hawx

-overall looks are very impressive

-controllable dead zones..

the OK:

-stick assembly is a little loose, more play than i would like

-all plastic

-nose down the stick and it comes off the table do to ill support-Velcro required

The Bad:

its programmable just not with the software...programmable via the game your playing..a Cyborg X SST profile dose not exist for this stick to create custom profiles for it

-is a tad on the sensitive side as once of the censors on mine died in a week..causing the stick to fail to center..i have received another one...

it hasn't died yet..

-while the driver support is good in its own right, it sometimes has an issue with its fellow cyborg products..like the cyborg mouse or keyboard...can, will and has knocked out the driver configs for them..on my end, but problem solved by moving stick to a diff USB bus..its most stable on the primary MB USB bus..it also properly power's off when its on the MB usb busexpanded shared bus's at least for my MB cause it to remain powered on..when the machine is off..which is why i think the first one died..

-packaging for stick looks good..but main base unit is just jammed against cardboard-thus jamming the plug connector-that plugs into the main body of the sick..luckily 2 sticks down and no damage

-support for this item is surprising weak, im not sure if its cause its new or its on the verge of being discontinued....

Honest reviews on Mad Catz F.L.Y.5 Stick for PC

I got this for Christmas a few years ago because I had really gotten into Flight Simming. This thing is THE PERFECT JOYSTICK if you want to get an all-in one, affordable control system.

Features:

TONS of Buttons. On FSX I use them for Throttling, Flap adjustment, landing gear, tailhook, brakes, differential brakes, speedbrakes, lights, and view switching. The twisting function works well as a rudder and if you're like me, you don't even need it that much except for ground steering (I seldom use the rudder when flying).

Easy programmingand if it gets sensitive/sticky you can adjuts it.

Started by having an hard time to get it to work on Windows 7 64, the throttle is stiff, and it ended up breaking after 2 weeks of normal usage ( from 30-to 1 hr daily usage, Falcon 4 ). What happened is that all of a sudden the rudder control was going off randomly. Returned for a refund and the shipping costed me a whopping 17$ ( although the estimate cost was 6$). Definitely won't order hardware from Amazon again unless they start giving free shipping of returns.

Dance Dance Revolution DDR Metal PS / PS2 Dance Pad V 3.0

After a long wait, I finally got this pad recently. It took a mere few minutes to break it in, and soon I was completing songs on expert with ease. The buttons were easy to reach, and unlike plastic pads, more difficult for you to lose the buttons and step elsewhere. As if the arrows scrolling down the screen weren't mesmerizing enough, observers took an odd fascination in watching the pad light up with every step. Connecting it was also a cinch.

One thing that I realized was that the moment I stood on the pad, it seemed to give a little. I was dismayed at first, but ignored it until I could not, for it cracked three days after it was delivered. The crack in the right arrow not only affects that arrow, but also affects the left arrow as well. I feel like I'm using a plastic pad now -to press buttons, I must awkwardly and ungainly jump and lift my feet.

This is a great starters pad, however, you can only start with it. This pad will not give you what you ask for. I personally recommend a more durable pad from a more reliable seller.

First off, I LOVE Dance Dance Revolution. I currently own 3 of the games and plan on buying more as I come across them in stores.

But this particular dance pad is horrible! I purchased this pad thinking it would be much better than the foam pads since I play DDR so much, there was always so much wear and tear on the foam ones, and this pad was better...but the upper arrow button stopped working after only 3 weeks of having it. I'm not even a real heavyset person. I'm a 6'2" male, 190 pounds.

To make matters worse, since that pad broke within a month of my purchase, I contacted the company in hopes that I could get my horribly spent money back or at least get a new pad from them to replace the piece of junk they had already sent me. But no, they didn't. They said they couldn't send me a new one or give me my money back, but they'd send me a new part. And this was over the summer and I still haven't gotten this mystery part from them.

My advice, stay away from this pad and just save up the extra $120 for one of the $300 pads cause it seems to me that this company is just a bunch of crooks. It's a great pad until it breaks on you and there's nothing you can do about it.

this product shows a ddr game logo on the web..i think it was not. there was no ddr game logo on it anywhere and the buttons did not have the same writing as my authentic ddr game pad. the max player weight that was on it was 180 and it cracked within one week of purchase. Before that week, however, the lights quit working on one button or would only work sometimes. Quite a disappointment for the cost. Nothing about this pad indicated to me that it was truly a ddr game (brand) pad.

THE METAL PAD SUCKS!!!!!!! Yeah it was fun while it lasted (3weeks) then when the top arrow button stopped working and the top right circle button cracked it all went to hell. The game is no fun any more. I have purchased 6 foam pads and 2 metal pads and they are all junk. I'm sick and tired of these companies making inferior products and not backing them up when they know it's crap. Whatever happened to the days when you and your company where held accountable for your actions and your products? Good money thrown down the drain! Don't, I repeat DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

I purchased this metal pad to replace a plastic pad that I bought for my grandson for Christmas. The plastic pad is totally worn out. After using the metal pad, he said that while it's much better than a plastic pad, it doesn't stay completely stationary on carpet. The movement makes it hard to place foot in right position on the squares.

If you own an xbox, the choice here is fairly obvious. There isn't much to say other than if you don't have a wireless controller already, get one. If you only own a PC however, or play games on your PC as well as your 360 like I do, then things get a little more interesting.

I wholeheartedly recommend using a 360 controller in combination with the Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows. The range on this thing is great and goes through walls. You can tuck the receiver behind your monitor, under your desk, or in a drawer and you'll get perfect reception. The support for this controller is excellent in all applications I've tried, the drivers are minimal, and the controller even turns itself off after not being used for a while to save battery life. In a Games For Windows title, all buttons automatically work like they would on the 360, no muss, no fuss. Hitting the Guide button even pops up the Windows Live overlay if you're playing a game that supports it like Fallout 3 or GTA 4 (normally the Guide button just gives you a summary of your battery life).

It is also possible to install a third party profiler app that lets you bind keystrokes and mouse movements to the controller, like XPadder (free). This lets me play a movie on my PC, and then sit on the couch and use the controller play/pause/ff/rewind,etc. I've had zero problems using this controller with xpadder.

If you like emulating old games on your pc (nes/snes/n64/etc), the large number of buttons lets you map the controller to pretty much any retro console controller you can think of.

As for the merits of the controller itself, there are plenty of reviews here that praise its comfort, feel, and reliability, and revile the D-Pad, so I won't go over any of that.

Summary:

+ Most comfortable and reliable controller I've used.

+ Wireless, great range, good price on amazon.

+ Good battery life and auto-shutoff feature.

+ Great game & app support with little to no headaches or installs.

D-Pad is nearly useless, but there are few games where this makes a difference, like fighting games.

It can be hard to find the proper wireless receiver driver if you are running 64-bit Vista, but its out there if you search hard enough.

edit:

Works flawlessly in Windows 7 x64 without having to hunt down the driver!

The D-Pad can be improved by following these instructions: I tried it on one of my controllers and can verify it works great and feels much better, but be careful, and remember that you'll be voiding your warranty and can damage your controller.

Ok, so this is basically just the white controller painted black. To be honest, the white controllers don't look too bad, its the white console that looks terrible. But that is my opinion. On to the facts. The black controller is almost exactly the same, but part of the grip is more "matte" than the white one. The white controller always makes me sweat for some reason because it is too smooth. These look great however. The colors are well matched even though it may not look like it in the pictures. I'd definitely recommend picking these up if you have an elite, or if you have core/premium and you want the black ones so the grime doesn't show as much, I'd highly recommend these.

I have had gaming systems since the day of the Atari 2600. From the single joystick to the Nintendo pad to the 360 I have played with all of them. I have to say that the people at Microsoft did an excellent job in developing this controller.

It is lightweight, comfortable and is very easy to use with all games. I highly recommend getting the black controller, it looks and feels better. You cannot beat the wireless function and unlike the controllers of old, you do not need to face it directly at the console.

Let me echo what CedDaGr8 wrote: I ordered a controller from TotalConsole. The sellers Amazon page all but indicates that it is a new controller. It says 'New' on a sticker that is stuck onto a third party packaging box that it came in. But this controller is very used! TotalConsole is a total liar and dishonest vendor.

I oredered a controller that was advertised as new. However I've tried everything but it wouldn't charge. I then realize that my controller was not only defected, but it was also used. They have not even tried to make admends. Totally unprofessional, and no one should do business with a dishonest vendor.

I gotta say... i've always wanted to be a super hero and instead of dawning tights and just shy of one of those weirdos running around pretending to be super heroes in reality, this is a real as it gets. The game is overall fun, I broke a sweat, and I forgot I was exercising.

I also like that my avatar is the one doing all the fighting.. really drew me in.

My two favs are kinect sports (which will soon be replaced by kinect sports 2) and Power up heros. Man, I thought I was done with video games.. and I keep getting drawn back in.

Now the tough part is convincing my wife to play it and not accidently kicking my one year old while playing.

I have been waiting for this game since I first played Super Mario Bros in the 80s. Really fun, responsive and gives you quite the workout without being a fitness game. I have most Kinect games, and this is easily my favorite. Very promising for the 'next gen' of Kinect titles. It's a little limited vis-a-vis length and variety of play (this is a standard fighter), but if you've ever wanted to shoot lasers from your hands, summon zombies upon request, or otherwise be a superhero, buy this game!

This is the best Kinect title I have ever played. I'll admit I have only played a few others; The Gunstringer, Your Shape Fitness Evolved and Kinect Adventures.

The responsiveness is great in this game. Some reviews say it is terrible, but that is blatantly false and there are videos on YouTube to disprove their claims. Just so you know how I feel; don't trust a media outlets review of a Kinect game, instead watch a real player playing it.

I would love to have given this game 5 stars but I can't. The campaign is awfully short. Another reason is the negative views it is getting from media outlests. Those negative reviews are going to make the online play sparse. I have been in a few online matches already and though I lost it was a lot of fun. It is amazing to think that someone else is jumping around to play the game too. Everything else about this game is fantastic.

If you own a Kinect this title should at least be rented, in my opinion. Use it to determine if you can even have a quality Kinect setup. If you cannot get this game to run properly then you should consider selling your Kinect because you will probably never enjoy a Kinect title.

SpazHinata and TheOmnigamer on YouTube have excellent videos on this game.

Honest reviews on PowerUP Heroes - Xbox 360

Now I have to say, doing poses as if I'm throwing out bolts of lighting an so forth makes me a little uneasy to do around others, but alone it's pretty fun.

What I like about Power Up Heroes is that it uses my Xbox live avatar and turns it into a super hero.

Their are a multitude of suits and various ways to play using unique attacks against your opponents.

This first time I played this my left shoulder got so sore. Throwing all these punches and lifting my arms up and the occasional knee to my opponents stomach is quite the workout. I began to sweat after 10 minutes or so of this.

All in all this is one of the best Kinect games I've had the opportunity to play. It's fun, and it's great exercise. The only thing missing is a little recording of yourself like the dance games do. You can sit around and laugh at how funny you look fighting an invisible opponent!

Definitely recommended for any age range.

Bought this for my 6-year old son, who is completely obsessed with super heroes. He loves the game, and just needed my help to understand that the figures shown on the side will light up when you have that particular power available (you can only use them every so often), and that they are also telling you what body movements you need to make in order to use that skill/power/weapon. Not too violent or scary, which is a big deal for me.

I am a major gamer. i have bought controllers from I'd say 10-15 different modding companies but I keep coming back to geniusmods. They always come through with top quality stuff. My roomates and I have been forming mini modded controller collections and I gotta say I regularly use this one. The gold accents really pop and even though I've had the controller for awhile the buttons and guide have not faded. With other controllers I've gotten the chrome plating rubs off after a few uses but not with this one. On top of that the mods are sick. I dont know if it is actually faster than other modded controllers but I do know that I consistently play better with these guys controllers. My KD is always better and it just feels like the rapid fire is smoother and faster. I've gotten tons of stuff from these guys and I plan on getting some more.

I will do my best to make this review as honest and unbiased as possible.

First off, shipping from this company is in no way rapid. I suppose I might be a little bias since I am used to prime, but it did take this company 3 days from the moment of purchase to ship the control. Ultimately, no big deal, the control did arrive within Amazon's allotted window, and it was well packaged.

The various functions of the control are very easy to use and program, and also not a problem to switch up on the fly for games like GOW and COD. Where this product shines the most (especially on BO2) is using the far more powerful semi-auto weapons using rapid fire. If you were a fairly decent COD player before, this function alone will no doubt up your game. However, I would caution you to be prepared to have people in various lobbies complaining that you are using a moded controller. While the device is not detectable as far as microsoft is concerned, your fellow COD players are not stupid either. They know unless you have a serious meth habit there is no way in hell you can get off rounds that fast. Just a heads up.

Drop shot, which forces your player to the ground after firing the first round, is also handy on certain maps that are fairly wide open, and if you are more of a "rusher" styled player. If you are the type that is constantly taking a knee behind cover, or if you like to camp constantly, this will not be an advantage to your style of play. If fact, it will probably get you killed a great deal.

The jitter function is handy when you are in a confined space and will be firing from the hip (as it will not allow you to aim down the sight). You can spray an entire room with an SMG at a rate of fire that is astounding. This also, proves highly useful on certain maps.

as far as the build of the control? It is well made and manufactured, and these folks obviously take pride in their workmanship. I have had no problems hooking up my Turtle Beach set or my chat pad to the control. The grips are also a welcome edition over your stock 360 control as well.

Overall, I can recommend this control to anybody who is heavily involved in FPS games. It is well built, easy to program, and gives you a definite edge over the competition.

Amazing Product, but one problem, the Controller's (And yes I've checked the game) sensitivity seems to be high or the thumbsticks seem to be too sensitive.

This is a good game, but it takes a while to get into.

The first 20 minutes is spent steering the horse around obstacles, which is pretty boring, let's be honest.

But once you start learning how to cast different spells and begin fighting off Hobbes and Balverines it's a pretty fun game.

This isn't like the other fable games because it lacks the free roaming, which is an iconic feature that users have come to expect from fable games. So, as a fable game, it does not live up to the standard of the preceding games. In all fairness though, these games set the bar pretty high, and 'Fable: The Journey' is just a different way of gaming. They say that change freaks us out and I think that the response to this game gives credibility to this notion. But, if you were to compare Fable: The Journey to other kinect games, it becomes more obvious that this game is actually a decent one (it's definitely the best kinect game that I own). If you want a kinect version of fable II or III then I would not recommend buying this game. But if you have an open-mind and are prepared to experience the fable world from a different (more interactive) perspective, then I would give it a go.

It's not as comprehensive as the other fable games, and I think the bad ratings are more so from disappointed expectations then the game actually being poor. I tried to look at this game objectively, rather than expecting it to mimic the previous games, and I must say that I was satisfied with the outcome. I am positive that anyone else capable of doing this will be enjoy this game as much as I have.

Just finished it last night, and wow, such mixed feelings.

On the plus side, I have never felt as part of the action as I have here. There is something seriously cool about using one hand to cast a spell to rip away an opponent's shield before blasting him with your other hand. A heck of a lot better than mere button mashing.

You also really do feel like you're riding your horse, and she takes on more of a life than your typical video game sidekick.

BUT...

If it hadn't had the word "Fable" in the title I've probably have had an easier time taking it for what it was. As others have said, you make no decisions whatsoever, the plot is completely pre-programmed, and your course is completely set for you. While I can see that the interface imposed some limitations, there's no reason more plot variability couldn't have been programmed in.

The game was also too short (I know, I sound like one of those whiners, "The food was inedible and the portions were too small").

It really is a nifty interface (well, at least when the Kinect is working), it's just a shame they didn't to more with the plot variability.

I haven't beat the game yet so I can just talk about what I've played so far. Since it is a Kinect game it is way-way more limited than a regular game. Basically what you do is ride a horse, stop to rest (clean, feed, give water to the horse), fight here and there, go back to the horse. Ride the horse is more fun than fight, since it is not very accurate actually my husband is playing and yelling at the game right now so if the targets are far, its quite hard to hit them. Once they get pretty much in front of you you can kill them. And it is pretty easy to kill.

The story hasn't been that interesting either. A young man (you do not have the option of choosing a character) that eventually meets Teresa and go on from there.

The first Fable I played was the third one, so I wasn't disappointed at it at all. Actually that made me buy Fable 2, and when I eventually bought Fable (the original one) it wasn't very fun as the graphics were quite old. So the fun about playing Fable is you making your choices, having plenty quests to do as you desire and making your own path. This Fable isn't that at all, so I do not like playing it. The only option you have is what you are going to upgrade and there are not many options. The chests are stupid. All you get is cards from stuff you've seen at the other Fables A card of a pie, a dog ball, a gargoyle... So far I haven't seen a use to them.

The balls [I am sorry, don't know how to call those things you get that gives you experience (red, green and blue)] you just get them on the road and there's no difference. They all go towards the same thing that lets you upgrade something. The only difference is that according to the color you need a different speed from your horse to pick them. So that's another thing kind of stupid.

About people complaining of getting tired... Sorry to tell but it is a kinect game, so you have to use YOUR BODY to play. And actually you can play sitting, so that's a good thing. If I compare with the game it comes when you buy the Kinect, I play that for 5 minuted and I am dying, Fable Journey you can play for half an hour and you should be ok. And I do not do any exercise so no excuses.

My final point is: If you want to try it, go ahead and play it. But I am not sure if it's worth 50 dollars. Maybe you could just find a way to rent, have it for a couple of weeks and be done with it. I feel like I wasted way more than its worth it and I am already considering to sell it. Or maybe the game will get so many bad reviews that the price will go down pretty soon...

Honest reviews on Fable: The Journey - Xbox 360

UPDATE: I just finished the game. I'm lowering rating to 4 since it took about 10 hours for story mode (incl.collecting all cards). I'd expected it to be bit longer and more difficult. However I found you can replay sections in arcade and it's pretty tough to get gold which extends gameplay. Still great must have unique Kinect game in my opinion but not perfect.

Summary: I'm judging this as a Kinect game and not as a Fable game. That's probably why opinions differ especially on Kinect games. However story and graphics are easily best of any Kinect game so far. Graphics are really amazing even compared to non-Kinect games. Scenery also changes constantly and never gets boring. It's one of the most varied Kinect game and Kinect control is great. If you like Kinect games I'd say must have title for 2012.

You can play this entire game sitting down but I just played it standing up (I only play 1-2 hours at a time anyway). You could move chair into the playspace of course.

I had no problems with controls and with calibration the accuracy is really good for Kinect: After one time calibration you point with your hand exactly in the direction you want to cast the spell which is pretty unique for Kinect game. For me it works pretty much 1:1 onto TV screen. There's a demo to give you taste of the combat.

If you want to get decent video impression checkout: kinectaddict channel on youtube.

Note however it gets much more interesting later in the game. In beginning it's easy but gets slowly progressively tougher (including optional stops).

Story mode game has these alternating parts:

Navigate on your horse: you can control: speed, left/right direction and you can stop (note you can die going off a cliff or when chased you may hit too many objects/fire). You can collect tokens on the road which can be used for upgrades. There are some scenes mixed in where you are being chased or you are chasing hobbes or fending off attacks

optional rest stops where you can take care of the horse and restore health (heal, remove arrows, give water and food and brush the horse). Except for heal and remove arrows you get extra points for these that you can use for upgrades. You could skip this though and you just can buy less upgrades

optional stops for extra card collecting: they are like mini-games and are progressively getting tougher. Later stages have small basic puzzles and more combat

story & combat scenarios: these are the most interesting parts where you use your spells (with both your hands). Later on puzzles are added. Also new characters are introduced. There are about 7 different creatures that attack you with couple of end bosses

Arcade mode: There are 16 levels you can replay and it's little bit different from story: your energy doesn't automatically renew and you have optional scarecrows to find and destroy. This is a lot more challenging than story mode and lots of fun. Getting gold in each level is very tough so this will extend gameplay good deal and it's fun to play.

Potential negatives:

On rails: I can see how exploration would have made this game better. There are choices at times to go either left or right but typically they just open up optional mini games to collect more cards. So story is still linear but you can discover additional areas to collect cards

Story mode easy: chapter 1 is pretty easy however it becomes gradually more challenging. Chapter 2 introduces puzzles which most of the time are relatively easy. I finished the game and for most part it never gets overly difficult. I died about 5 times in entire story mode (accuracy is spot on for me so this allows me to finish enemies often quickly). Still fun but bit I'd be fine if it would be tougher (which is often case with Kinect to avoid making you too tired by retrying over and over). If you opt not to upgrade at all it will make the game lot more challenging so that's an option.

multi-player action: Not offered and would have been nice. You can see compare arcade scores on xbox live

Not sure what the other people complaining about bad controls are talking about. Compared to other kinect games this has pretty good control. Like all kinect games, how well it controls is going to be dependent on how optimized your playing area is. I have a good amount of space and always use good lighting. I know not everyone is going to have a large amount of space to play, but that isn't really the games fault, you know what you are getting into with any kinect game. With this game you are for the most part stationary so you don't necessarily need a wide playing area but you will still need to be able sit far enough back so the kinect sensor can see you accurately. The game responds well to your arm motions whether it be pulling the reigns for your horse or redirecting the direction of the spells you cast. My eight year old daughter plays this game fine without any trouble, if she can control it fine I don't see any reason why anyone else wouldn't be able to.

As far as the game itself, it is a pretty fun lil spinoff of the fable games. This does not play anything like the past fable games and it is not meant to. This is not a continuation of the past fable games. This is a completely new game that takes place in the fable world. It is an on rails game and time will be split between driving your horse drawn carriage or on foot casting magic with both of your hands.Spells consist of projectiles that you can shoot and redirect around objects, pushing spells that also stun and pulling spells that let you fling enemies around or interact with world objects like boulders or pulling down parts of the ceiling. Along the way you gain experience and can upgrade your characters skills. It is a fun game with a decent story and worth a try if you enjoy kinect games.
