It has an input and an output so you don't need splitters.
When I put the output to my TV it was pretty bad quality but it recorded in pretty good quality
It was worth the money.

Took me a while to install but all in all it looks great and with a little more editing done to it the quality looks even better.Honest reviews on Sabrent VD-GRBR USB 2.0 Video & Audio Capture DVD Maker w/Real Time
The product itself works great, but it was a hassle to get the drivers set up. I'm running Windows 8, so to get it to work I had to go to "Change PC Settings>General>Advanced startup> Restart now>Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Windows Startup Settings>Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" After that it worked flawlessly,it's just not plug and play friendly.Obviously the quality is standard definition only, but for the price you really can't complain. Just be warned, while this may be the simplest setup(you don't need anything besides what's in the box) the quality on the tv is very low and flickers from time to time. This does not affect the recording in any way but it may be an annoyance to some.
