Ghost Recon is a welcome break from death match, you-must-be-on-speed-to-keep-up type games. Instead of pulling a trigger and running around until you kill someone, this game forces you to develop detailed strategies to accomplish your tasks. The action you do encounter (and there is plenty) is intensified by the fact the stakes are much higher -a couple of bullets or a well-placed grenade takes you out of the game. This forces you to develop a properly planned and well executed course of action.

The game is squad based. During single player mode, you play one of six soldiers and can switch between them at any time. Your player leads one squad of three, and you set a course of action for the other squad which is controlled by AI. As you complete missions and tasks, you unlock addition items such as new soldiers to choose from. Surviving missions also increases soldier skill.

Ghost Recon has significant replay value. It has 15 levels and 50 different tasks to complete, but because there are so many strategies that can be used to complete a level, they can be played numerous times with the same enjoyment level. Of course, on-line play adds tremendous replay and excitement.

In my opinion, the mark of a good game is how quickly time slips by while you are playing. Time after time I have intended to wrap up in 10 minutes only to find that an hour has passed. This is a fantastic game.

I do have a few complaints. The graphics are generally good, but can be on the choppy side at times. I have also experienced instances where the AI squad didn't do what I had mapped out. But, for the most part, the game is a welcome addition to my game library.

After burning out on Halo deathmatch and hankering for some good action to get the gaming juices flowing, I finally bought this game a couple weeks ago. The result? I am seriously addicted, and find myself creeping out of bed after the wife is asleep to just try one more mission!

I pretty much missed the whole tactical shooter phenomenon on the PC. I had gotten bored with endless varieties of Quake and tournament deathmatch and more or less gave up on the genre in favor of strategy games that take more thought and planning. So it's been a pleasant surprise to see how far a shooter can be taken and how a game like Ghost Recon is more of a military simulator than anything else.

I wanted a game that has both a compelling single-player mode as well as deathmatch capabilities. Ghost Recon delivers on both. The single player game is great for the ability to select and customize the six soldiers that comprise your squad. You only directly control one at a time, but can guide the actions of the others through a command interface that sets movement waypoints as well as aggressiveness, and you can take control of any soldier at any time. In playing against others you control a squad of three. The command interface and squad set-up interfaces take a bit of getting used to, but I had it down pat after a couple sessions.

The gameplay is great and full of suspense and anticipation. You usually need to proceed through the map very carefully, keeping a low stance to evade detection while constantly scanning the terrain for your enemies. Unlike Halo, in which your targetting reticle lights up when it scans over an opponent, you may be unsure at times over what you're really aiming at: an enemy soldier or just a tree? Also, forget about taking insane amounts of damage or finding a "health pack" to fix your wounds. A couple shots will kill your soldiers, and if they get wounded, they limp around for the rest of the mission. If they die, you lose that character forever and have to train a newbie for your next mission.

The game is great at creating a sort of spooky atmosphere. You are plunked down in a strange area with a map but no idea where your enemies are. The blowing wind makes trees sway and rustle, adding random movement that keeps you constantly on your toes. When gunfire has erupted from aside or behind me, I have literally jumped in my seat. One drawback is the total lack of interactivity with the environment. You cannot pickup objects, even weapons or ammo from your own dead. You cannot even open or close doors.

I have seen lots of complaints about graphics and while they are not stellar, as in Splinter Cell, they are good enough to convey a sense of realism. There are also complaints that the AI is too dumb to rely on to guide your other squad members. My biggest gripe with the AI is that it is sometimes TOO effective. Often my soldiers have taken out the enemy without me ever seeing where they bad guy was. I wish there was some sort of notification after which you could instruct your unit to fire at will or something. The bad guy AI is generally decent, with them running for cover, etc. In one scenario, I watched a dude drop to the ground, then crawl around the other side of a car, then re-emerge to try to shoot at me.

The only other main complaint I have is that the deathmatch option only supports two people playing on one Xbox, as opposed to the four allowed by Halo. And I understand if you do a system link, it is only one person per box. Unfortunately I am living outside the US and don't have access to Xbox Live, but everything I have read says this game rocks when playing multiplayer online.

It short, Ghost Recon has a few shortcomings, but the outstanding gameplay simply overrides all of that. This is one of the best game purchases I have made -up there with Halo and Max Payne. I am a new convert to tactical shooters, and will definitely keep my eye on further Tom Clancy-tagged games and those from the wizzes at Ubi Soft.

With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, squad based combat on the XBox lets you play through single player missions or take it online with XBox Live for up to 16 simultaneous players.

Gameplay involves you running a team of up to 6 members. The team members can be snipers, foot soldiers, engineers, and more. As in Rainbox Six, you can build your teammates up through the levels so they can gain more skills.

The single player missions are interesting, with landscapes varying from countryside to small towns to big city streets. You have to use stealth and strategy to achieve your objectives without dying or running out of ammo. Each teammate must use his strengths and help cover for each other's weaknesses.

The graphics aren't exactly stunning while the buildings have windows and doors drawn on them, for example, you can't shoot out the windows. It's more like they are giant squares with murals painting on them. On the other hand, the human bodies are extremely well done, with their movement and actions.

The sounds are immersive and draw you in. There's background noises of wind and cars which can make it harder for you to hear the footsteps of your enemy ... or at times mask the noise of your own footsteps. If a loud noise happens near you, it gives the realistic temporary 'underwater' sensation as in real life.

Single player is just practice for the real fun of Ghost Recon XBox Live play. Unlike PS2 or Computer gameplay, with XBox Live you're guaranteed that other players all have a high speed (Cable Modem) connection speed. This means the lag you see in many other on line games is pretty much completely avoided.

We play a ton of games on line and this is one of our current favorites. Recommended for XBox Live owners who enjoy team-based gameplay.

Honest reviews on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Xbox

Quite frankly, I'm shocked that this game hasn't gotten so many good reviews. This is one of the best military sims I've ever played, and I've played quite a few. If you don't believe me, at least download the GR demo somewhere.

Graphics-

I don't really pay much mind to graphics unless they're truly bad or make me think I'm watching something real, and Ghost Recon is neither. The environments are nice, but everything else is only standard.

Gameplay-

This game is rather unforgiving. Where running into one area without being careful can mean the difference between life and a character change, the overall experience is very intense on par with survival horror games. Rambo-to-be's need not apply.

Sound-

Not terribly groundbreaking here, but some of the explosions and gunshot sounds were nice.

Playability and controls-

If you've grown up on run-and-gun games, prepare for a complete mental plastic surgery. The only complains I have here are the enlarging aimers of all Clancy games. They take a bit too long to get small enough. But, since targets (including you) go down at 2 shots at most, this probably won't be a problem anyway. The lack of jumping is a bit odd too.

Replayability-

Through the roof. There are multiple modes for playing each mission. For example, you could do the actual mission, or select firefight mode (where you just have to kill all the baddies) or recon (where you just have to make it to the checkpoint). Both bring suprising longetivity to the game, as well as the many unlockables, and of course, Live play.

First off let me start by saying that Ghost Recon is NOT like Halo. You do not charge in throwing grenades and holding the trigger button for 3 minutes straight. This is a strategy game. Instead of one path you have a wide open area. You could go straight, you could go right, you could go left. Its up to you. The Ghosts are divided into two three-man squads. One squad follows you, and the other you command where to go. This way you can split up or stick together, its your choice. This is a game of patience. You will often be moving only a few feet at a time. Every now and then you have to stop and scope the area for enemies. If you go in fearlessly, you'll be ambushed and killed. Oh that reminds me, this game does not deal with any "life bar" bull. This is realistic. If someone shoots you in the head once, sorry buddy, your dead. You might however get away with a shot to the leg in which case you'll be injured and move slower and your skills will be hindered. Online this is a fantastic game. With some good teammates, you'll have a great time working together. Hell, even with team mates who dont care about you and watch out for themselves only, you'll have a great time. The game's that good. If you dont have Xbox live, you might just wanna rent this and see if you feel like beating the missions on all difficulties and unlocking everything which can get a little repetative but QUITE challenging. I would recommend this game for adults who dont mind strategy, stealth, and planning your course of action. I wouldn't recommend this game to people who would rather take 300 bullets and live and who like to just blast away untill everyone's dead. And to those who say that it's stupid that you cant see your gun, shut the f^ck up and find something relevant to complain about. The only complaints I have about this game is that its not very interactive. Although hiding behind a tree or corner is very effective, you cant go in most buildings and none of the missions require you to flip switches or pick up anything. Also, you can't jump but you CAN crouch, and even lay on the ground. There are tanks in the game but you can't drive them which is a shame too. If this game had drivable vehicles and a few more commands it would be top notch.

Xbox 360 Slim - Kinect Stand + Wall Mount - Black - Kinect Mount Review

Xbox 360 Slim - Kinect Stand + Wall Mount - Black - Kinect Mount for LCD Monitors + Wall Mount
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I only payed $20 for this thing and I thought for the most part it was gonna be a rickety piece of plastic with screw holes in it. This was not the case at all.

The reason I bought this was to be able to mount it to either my TV or my wall when I need too (I move houses/change my room around a lot). This was one of the only products that did this within my price range.

Before I get any further, I'd like to make a note as far as the finish on the product goes. In the picture it looks like more of a flat black color. It is actually the chrome-black color that the new xbox 360s come in. It also matches my TV perfectlyBonus.

Anyways, What I thought was going to be a piece of cardboard-plastic actually was a very high quality and well-engineered piece of plastic. It seems as though everything fits together so nicely and with very little gap and this thing was pretty well designed too.

I'll start with the packaging it came in from the mail and the box the product its self comes in:

The box came in one of those yellow envelopes that is lined inside with bubble wrapehh... When I opened it, The box had a bit of crinkle in it, but nothing that would harm the contents of it. The box even seemed thought out pretty well too. Everything inside was wrapped in bubble wrap and the mount comes with a 2 year warranty. all of the tools, plastic pieces, and screws are in separate plastic bags inside. It comes with 3 thick, square, plastic washers that have teeth on one side to lock the support in place on the mount. (It only uses 1 washer to screw in) The support arms (Comes with 2: One low profile one for small monitors and LED TVs and one for LCD/Plasma TVs) have brass nuts built into them where the screw will hold it on to the bracket. I currently have it mounted on my TV which is about EXACTLY 6 feet off the ground and it has been working wonderfully. The wall mount is also a very solid build quality though I have not yet used it. It even has a clip on the back the guides The wire for the Kinect sensor down to your console. The mount itself has good quality pads on it along with the supports. It is VERY adjustable and the support won't slide thanks to the interlocking washer with the teeth on the mount. It also has clips that hold the Kinect sensor in place.

Oh yea! it even comes with a mini screw driver. The only thing I would complain about is the length of the screws it comes with that hold on the support arm. They are very short. They work, but it would also be easy to over-tighten and strip the brass nuts or the screw itself. The mount is very sturdy.

I am REALLY impressed with the quality of this product. I would expect to pay $30-$40 for it.

The name of the company that makes it is "Kamikaze Gear". You know when you open up an instruction manual that is in different languages and English is usually the first page? Well the first language in this highly-detailed instruction manual is, I believe, GermanThrew me off quite a bit. But the manual has 4 languages in it: German, English, French, and Spanish.

I highly recommend buying this! You can't go wrong! It shipped to my house in 2 days on standard shipping. and I live in a rural area.

I have grown up with the Worms game. Ok, well, more like it entered my childhood one day when my cousins brought over their Dreamcast and their new game...Worms Armageddon. We played for HOURS! I was laughing so hard I had to change pants because I wet myself, and I thought I was gonna die, as I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. I've been playing often since. From Worms Armageddon, to Worms World Party, now to this. I was never able to play the origonal or Worms 2 (and any other before Armageddon, but I can't remember any at the moment), but I sure am glad I was introduced to this franchise. When I heard of Worms 3D, I was so excited. And finally, this morning after a gaming party, I got to play for about an hour. I am hooked. After everyone packed up their games, computers, etc. I had an urge to keep playing. I finally found a working mirror for the PC Demo, and I have just got done playing a few matches. I also plan on getting the game as soon as possiable. I am rarely pleased when my favorite 2D games go 3D, but this made a good transition. A good game, great price (A $26 launch price!?), and loads of fun...what more can you ask for! So grab your 3 friends, one controller, and a TV and get ready to laugh yourself to the Worms!

I've been an avid gamer since high school and after Nintendo continuously updated and outdated their systems from year to year, this game eventually became something I could never play anymore. After a few years of swearing off games, I eventually returned to Playstation thanks to their respect for their customer and their efforts to make their previous consoles games playable on the newer systems.

This comes at a price though. Gone, is the games that are just plain guilty time wasting wholesome fun. Nearly every game that is made these days involves war, sports, death, darkness and dread. Games like "Dusty Diamond All-Star Softball" are a thing of the past and it says a lot that every so-often I long to play this game again. It wasn't complicated. It was a simple and beautiful thing. It was a schoolyard pick-em. There were a group of kids who all had different abilities. Some were fast. Some were slow. Some had great arms. Some had so-so arms. Some had power. Some didn't. Some were more suited to be catchers and some were more suited to be centerfielders. You picked your team. The computer picked their team and you played a game on your choice of softball field. Simple as that. Fun as could be.

GAMEMAKERS of today: Make this game again! Add to it though. Call it "Schoolyard Games", I don't care. Make it where there are dozens of kids, studs, dorks, goths, nerds, slow, fast. Have you and your friends do a schoolyard pick-em and play games like Softball, Basketball, 4-square, 8-square, dodgeball, football, hockey, tennis, soccer, volleyball. Have tournaments. The kids should have different personalities and looks.

The gaming world needs to lighten up and this would be a great game to do that. They sort of flirted with it with the game "Bully" on the ps2, but of course, they had to make "Bully" about beating people up and violence. Stepping down from my soapbox but hoping that someday I can play that game.

It comes with a wall mount too, so you don't have to put it on the TV if you don't want to. Comes with rubber spacers for use with the newest ultra thin TVs too. It's built well, high quality. The price is good too. I recommend it if this is what you are looking for. I've read that some of the copycat makers of this mount made cheaper models.... the savings on those don't make it worth the risk.

I forgot to measure my tv to see if this would fit on top. Sure enough it did fit! I only wanted to get this version because I didn't want my tv looking like a robot. And I don't have plans to get the PS3, but if I do I will definitely order again! Save yourself the money and go this route, others I know have spent $100-$150 on a mount to hold a few gaming bars....

This is one fast-paced FPS. The arcade mode is huge fun for just one player, or two (4-player split-screen is best) . It has lots of different game types (death match, team death match, capture the bag, team capture the bag, shrink, flame tag, virus, loose change, vampire, assault, gladiator and monkey assistant, a death match in which the player with the lowest score has a squad of monkeys with guns to help out) and a ton of different characters to choose from. Sgt. Cortez, Riot Officer, Sewer Zombie, Lady Jane, Mister Giggles, Gingerbread Man, Jungle Queen, Duckman Drake, Snowman and Monkey are only a few of them. There is also a challange mode that has you smashing stain glass windows with a grenade launcher one minute and fending off endless hordes of zombies the next. The story mode is not very interesting, but it is fun to play 2-player co-op.

I love the TimeSplitters series. You get to go through all sorts of periods of time from modern space times to ancient times blasitng away at the bad guys.

There are a TON of weapons available on each level, each more fun than the previous one. You can single and double wield depending on the weapon type. As you move along your route, you get checkpoints, to keep your progress going. There are enemies with invisibility cloaks, turrets to blast away from, and MUCH more.

The comparisons with Halo are inevitable especially in the modern time scenes. In many ways this is a great comparison, given how popular and well-designed Halo is. You get plasma grenades that stick to people, teammates that cover you, and generally good graphics. The cloaked characters give you just a hint of dark cloud to watch for.

The lead guy is very XXX-style and reluctantly goes on his time-hopping adventures. The voices are reasonably good not great, but not really awful either.

The textures in the locations aren't great but they're reasonable. There are details like worn wooden chairs and patches on the walls. The health and shield bars only appear when you're injured. I'd like it better if they were always on the screen in a corner, less annoying.

It's especially fun in co-op mode, taking on the bad guys with a friend. Multiplayer is GREAT fun the collection of maps is amazing, and you can even make your own!

Some of the dialogue is really funny, and in general it's a shoot-em-up game with a wide variety of weapon choices, locations and enemies.

Well recommended!

I have this on PS2 but you cant get it on here or something. This is probably my favourite game of all time it is just mad! The characters are great my favorites are (the ones I play as most) Sgt.Cortez, Capt.Snow, Capt.Forest, Riot Officer and Braces. the story mode is fantastic with about 10 levels first is Siberia set in 199o which is an easy level. Next is Chicago in 1930's where you have to go through the streets help Marco(who takes ages) get back to his apratment without being shot, get the nightclub pass and go to the club to kill Big Tony which is easy cuz I get double tommy guns from the entrance and jsut kill him. next is Notre dame which is good where you have to go through a church killing zombies. Then is Planet X which is where you have to kill these aliens or something. then neo Tokyo which is bare hard cause you have to follow this hacker to there base without being seen by the security cameras in the street cause you are being chase by coppas for some reason. then wild west which is bare easy and you have to kill the colonel. Atom Smasher is in 1972 you play as Harry tipper and have to go through khallos compund(or somethin) and kill all the henchmen and them him, it is very hard. Aztec ruins is hard cause you have to kill these stone golems which is hard. Robot factory is pretty hard. The last level Space Station set in 2401 is great cause you have to get out of there before it blows up.

ow the weapons there is Garret revolvers, soviet 47's, Tactcial 12 gauge, snipers, minguns, shotguns, Rocket launchers, homing launchers, mines and other sick weapons.

there is a whole load of characters about 55 it takes ages to get em all so beware. there is many arcade modes to do, Deathmatch, team Deathmatch, Capture the bag, Flametag, gladiator and other modes. the arcade levels are tight.

Honest reviews on TimeSplitters 2

Timesplitters 2 is an amazing game and very fun to play for many reasons, one of them being the game has soo many characters you can play as in multiplayer mode! A large amount of these characters have to be unlocked, and it's no easy task to do so, but you'll have a lot of fun collecting them all--or just get extremely frustrated in some cases.

The story mode is good, and some levels are more fun than others. Each level takes place in a different time period. One level you'd be in the past, the next in the future somewhere. Some of my favorite levels to play are:

Siberia

Notre Dame

Neo Tokyo

Wild West

The weapons are terrific and there are loads to use! You can even unlock bricks to use as a throw weapon.

There is more to this game than just the Story mode. With most games, all they have is Story and Multiplayer, and nothing more. But in Timesplitters 2 you can play the Challenges and Arcade League games, and depending on how well you did on the games, you'll get bronze, silver, gold, and maybe even platinum trophies! Arcade League and Challenge is also the main way to unlock new maps, weapons, fun cheats, and characters.

It can be boring playing a game by yourself sometimes, and if you have no one around that wants to play with you there is an option where you can turn on BOTS! Although bots can't replace a real person, it's a big plus that they have bots that you can play against. I absolutely hate it when a game doesn't have a bot option.

TM2 has a lot of game modes to play, such as Capture the bag, bag tag, deathmatch. My absolute favorite game mode is Virus. In Virus, you are supposed to try and evade the infected (those surrounded in green fire) for as long as possible, and if you do get infected you are then supposed to infect others.

The game is fun but does have one frustrating bot issue. If you have the game set to free-for-all don't be fooled and assume it's every man for himself. It's more like every bot against you. Seriously! The bots literally hunt you down and gang up on you. It doesn't matter if there are other bots in the same room. They will ignore the others and take you out together. Another thing that is kinda unfair is that the bots can dive but you can't... so while they roll and dodge your attacks, all you can do is move from side to side.

Overall, I enjoy playing this game and would recommend it if you are looking for a fun and addicting game.

Ive found when I make people play this game with me theere is 1 of 2 responses. This game is awsome or this game sucks. Frankly I think its awsome, maybe my favorite shooter out there. No the graphics arent excellent but who cares? I dont play games for the graphics. And maybe the storyline isent flowing, not in depth and very vauge. But again, do I care? Nope. The single player missions are awsome for what they are. The game really has some great music. The tunes always get stuck in my head, I even downloaded some and listen to them on my computer. But the game isent about solo missions or music, its about the arcade mode and the multiplayer. Forget Halo 2 multiplayer. This multiplayer is way more hardcore and fast paced. No matter how good you are, you wont go through a match without dying at least once. There are countless of multiplayes characters to unlock also, anything from a gingerbread man, to a mob bose, to a SWAT member and all points in between. The arcade mode features tons of different scenarios to beat. They all offer rewards if you beat it with silver or better. My favorite part though is the map maker. Ive made over 50 maps that my friends and I still use. My favorite scenario when creating a map is capture the bag. I recomend renting this game first. Like I said, if you dont love it straigt off, you never will so dont dont bother buying it.

I'm a little lost why everyone is bashing the heck out of this title. It only costs $10 folks, and its worth it. The game is fun and simple. There are plenty of different modes to play and lots of things to unlock. Basic play is rather easy. Despite what people say, there are differences in the cars from year to year. for example, a 67 will out run a 63 in a straight line. If the cars were all the same, that would be impossible. The older cars have awful brakes just like they did in real life. The c5 a re fluid and graceful and the c4's are chunky and tempermental, just like in real life. (i've owned a c3, c4 and c5) The graphics are pretty nice, and the tunnel vision at 100mph is a nice effect. The courses are pretty good (although there are some that i dont care for).

Dislikes: 2 player mode makes you race the same era of cars. dirt and pavement traction is fairly similar. physics aren't too real, but close enough for fun.

The game could be imporved upon without a doubt, and if it was I'd pay the normal $50, but in this case i only paid $10, and I feel that the game is a great value for the money. I dont need a clone of GT3 or NFS or anything else. i have those and if i want to play them i will.

lastly, the most humorous defect i've found so far: When in 2 player mode, if player 1 wins, then player 2's car will not have any engine noise. You still hear tires screaching and wind noise though. rather funny.

Listen, I'm not a corvette enthusiast... just an early 40s dad. I bought this for my boys few years ago in a video game lot... and it's one we played again all weekend. Love it... the career mode is fantastic.

Forget the accuracy of the cars or the realism of the driving experience, it's just a hellova challenge to get around the "career" tracks and place high enough to move to the next round. Really enjoying this game 8 or 9 years after it was released on the ancient PS2 platform.

This game is a lot of fun. If you are a true corvette fan this game is even better. I think the cars look great and the tracks are neat. Tons of races and all the vettes, except for the c6 make this a super deal for 10 bucks! The handling in the game is not the best and not to realistic but not that off either. If you are looking for a game like Gran Turismo 3 then dont waste your time. If you love corvettes, then this game is for you!

Honest reviews on Corvette - PlayStation 2

This game is truly awful. It is, without a doubt, the WORST racing game I have ever played. Racing games I played on my old Sega Genesis were better than this boring, stupid game. The cars look ok, but they're not half as good as the ones in "GRAN TURISMO 3". They're just not fun to race. You can only race certain cars on certain tracks and that just plain STINKS! Even the opening movie is BORING. Two vettes endlessly racing down the highway for what seems an eternity.

Take my advice and stay clear of this game. There are better racing titles out there like "BURNOUT", "NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND", "MIDNIGHT CLUB 2", "GRAN TURISMO 3" and even "FORD RACING 2". Try one of them but forget this game. It is TERRIBLE! -George Bauch.

This game is so great. I have loved corvettes since before I was born. This game finally gives the car the respect it deserves. I mean Need For Speed put the Corvette into its games but not like this. This game lets you drive models all the way as old as 1953. The only thing is too bad this game doesnt include the upcoming 2005 Corvette C6 but it does include everything else. Graphics are a little more cartoony then real but they look great anyway. Too bad this game doesn't show damage to the cars, why not? There is no way to make this car look bad. For $10 it is the best value game out there. I recommend this to everyone. If you don't like this game, and you call yourself an automotive enthusiast you are wrong about one of those two things. If you're thinking of trying out this game by renting it at Blockbuster for $4, you might as well buy it. It is definitely worth it

I wish I could say that Smackdown vs RAW 2010 (SvR) is awesome and it fulfills all my desires as a fan of Create-A-Wrestlers (CAWs) and round-robin tournament season modes. Unfortunately, THQ and Yukes made lots of improvements and then purposely crippled the game in several ways to make those improvements much more useless than they would have been if they'd just treat fans of wrestling games like any other gamer.

First, let's talk about what they did right, though.

SvR has new wrestler models that look great. The pieces in the CAW/CAS mode are all rendered in 3D, and live on the character as a dimensional object rather than being "painted on" like previous years' versions. The end effect of this is that your CAWs look as good as the included WWE superstars when in the ring. Previously, it used to be obvious which was the "real" superstar and which was the CAW in this game. That has been fixed, finally, and it's about time!

The game itself has several modes, including all the expected ones like single match, Royal Rumble, etc. It has a career mode which can use a WWE Superstar or a CAW. It has a Road to Wrestlemania mode which requires one of a small selection of WWE Superstars as your character. It has training right at the main menu and several Create modes, as well.

The Create modes are all much improved. As stated, the CAW mode is a step up from previous years, but I'm also impressed with the Create-A-Finisher mode, in which you can string together moves to make a devastating finisher for your CAWs. It's quite versatile, and you can make some really crazy finishers with it.

The Create-An-Entrance mode is also very nice this year, allowing you to do a simple entrance (just pick one from a list) or an advanced, customized entrance that lets you pick different segments from lists, string them together, control fireworks, smoke, lighting and add entrance music from the included Superstar list, or from your own collection on your XBox 360 hard drive. (Although I'm perplexed as to why they require each song to be in its own playlist on your hard drive, instead of allowing us to make one playlist that has all the music in it.) It's quite satisfying to make a CAW and have him march down to the ring with all the flash and showmanship of a real WWE Superstar.

The actual wrestling is decent, if not as arcade-like as usual. The moves seem bigger and louder, and the impact more crushing than previous versions of the game. There's still a bit of clipping with the models, though, and the AI is abysmally stupid when on lower settings. Playing on the normal difficulty level makes for an easy game, as the computer opponents don't act like real Superstars. Mostly, they just let you pound on them and string moves, with the occasional attempt to break a hold or throw a punch.

The Create-A-Logo mode is pretty cool if you have the patience to work with the XBox controller and a semi-clunky design system. It's versatile, though, and you can pretty much draw anything you want to add to your wrestler.

The Story Design mode is pretty cool. It lets you work out just about any of the standard WWE-style storylines however you want, with whichever Superstars you want. You can type in text for the cutscenes and set up matches to either watch or play. All in all, a decent attempt at adding some dimension to the game.

The online mode is, as usual, only as good as the other people playing. I don't even bother because the cheap button-mashing kids tend to dominate the online realm, and I don't have the patience for them. They don't want to put on a show or watch entrances or play it as if it's a real wrestling match with any kind of pacing--They just rush in and start punching like mad, and it quickly degrades to a messy waste of time. It might be good if you're a button-masher, though, and I give Yukes credit for making the game work well online (finally).

The ability to download other people's CAWs is a much-welcomed addition to the game. The range of CAWs out there is pretty vast, and you can usually find excellent versions of whichever wrestler you're looking for, as well as lots of originals.

Now, here's where I get into what's so very, very WRONG with this game:

The online CAW trading, which effective for swapping CAWs, is crippled severely. The major problem is that you cannot, under ANY circumstances, edit anything you download. That means that you get a lot of CAWs with no music or wrong music in their entrances (user music won't upload or download, so you're stuck with the built in music or nothing at all) and you can't fix this on your end. It's disappointing that we have this technological marvel of a gaming platform, and we're not *allowed* to use one of the best features it offers. I understand not being able to edit downloaded wrestlers (so people don't claim your work as their own), but why not their entrances? That just makes no sense. This one major flaw almost ruins the CAW swapping feature.

The CAW mode itself has a lot of major flaws, too. The biggest one is that there are tons of parts no longer present in the game. Want to make a wrestler who wears camouflage tights? Too bad. They're not here. You can't use the Create-A-Logo mode to make them, either, as THQ is *still* censoring the ability to put any pattern over a CAW's crotch area. Any pattern you make for tights will leave a big, blank gap in the crotch, which if you ask me, looks WORSE and MORE OBVIOUS than if THQ had just let you draw a pattern there! It's incredibly stupid design, and it's about time THQ grew the hell up and let us use the CAW mode as we see fit. If some kids want to doodle naughty bits and put them on tights, so what? The vast majority of us are going to use to to put legitimate logos on the pants or tights.

Of course, they also included the "feature" where you have to play through all the game modes and do specific things to unlock all the characters, parts, and modes. It's stupid, if you ask me, because so many of us don't care about the WWE Superstars, and just want a good wrestling game where we can use our CAWs. Unfortunately, SvR is always biased against CAWs, and this year's no different. Your CAW's skills are all set very low to start, and you have to build them up, sort of like in an RPG. I can't think of any other sports title that does this; Most of them let you train, or assign points as you see fit. In the Fire Pro series, you could make anyone you liked, and assign points however you wished. Unfortunately, the WWE license is what screws up Yukes' efforts for us CAW players.

Another problem is that the Story Design mode is crippled by the fact that you can only have a total of ten appearances by CAWs in it, throughout an entire story. That's not ten different CAWs, but ten *appearances* by CAWs, which basically means your CAWs are only showing up in cameo roles. Forget about making a wrestling event starring only CAWs, because you can't do it-Halfway through the event you run out of slots and you can only choose from the built-in Superstars.

The Career Mode is fundamentally damaged, as well. There's no round-robin, ever-running tournament like in the excellent Fire Pro series. Instead, you're given a selection of three or four guys to fight, and you have to build up "points" by winning to be able to fight the top contender or champ. Your opponents don't seem to be selected from your CAWs, either, but from the built-in WWE Superstars, so if you play as a CAW, you'll be the only one in the entire career mode, most likely. There are no cutscenes in this mode, and it's pretty much just a shorter, cheaper version of Road to Wrestlemania without the voice-overs or focus on Wrestlemania.

The biggest, most unforgivable problem with the game, though, is the way it handles saved games, CAW files, and other data. Unlike *every other XBox 360 game made* you can't use the XBox dashboard to copy or move your WWE SvR 2010 files from one storage unit to another. This means that, unless you get the hard drive migration tool, you can't switch hard drives on your XBox 360 and expect to keep all your own CAWs and saved games. The game flat-out REFUSES to allow you to copy anything without deleting your CAWs. The best you can do, it seems, is to copy the base settings and saved game without any CAWs, which means, essentially, that THQ and Yukes expect you to throw away hours of work because they don't want you to have control over the game's files.

Attempts to copy or move CAWs from one storage device to another from within the game meet with similar problems. The game won't let you do it. CAWs, it seems, are only allowed to exist on the hard drive they were initially saved to.

It's pathetic that THQ crippled the game so much, and made it nearly impossible for someone to migrate to a bigger hard drive without loss of data. I had to purchase a separate drive migration tool in order to keep all my CAWs. If not for this one game, I could have used the XBox 360's built-in storage or an external device to migrate successfully. Every other game I owned, including all the downloaded titles from XBox Live Arcade, were allowed to be moved to a different storage device. It was ONLY SvR that refused to allow this feature to work.

Finally, there are some major glitches in the CAW save system. When you edit a CAW or make additional attires for him, all the data for your Created Entrance is erased and you'll have to do it all over again. I strongly suggest you don't bother making an entrance for any CAW until you're certain you're completely, totally finished editing or copying him, unless you want to go through Create-An-Entrance again.

Once again, THQ and Yukes deliver a game that is loaded with potential, and then spoil it by censoring, limiting, and restricting players. The Fire Pro series existed for years without any of these problems, and I fail to see why SvR can't duplicate that sort of CAW experience. Instead, they choose to treat their customers like we need a nanny to prevent us from doodling on crotches or letting our friends borrow and alter our CAWs. It's several levels of stupidity, and if it weren't for the decent core gameplay, it would be enough for me to give up on this series completely. I already quit once with SvR 2008, but I heard this one was better... And it is. Unfortunately, it's also still restricted and too controlled for a CAW fan.

My advice is to buy this, but don't expect miracles. If you like WWE Superstars, it's a good experience. If you don't care about WWE Superstars and want to focus on CAWs, you'll be a lot less impressed. The gameplay is good, but the personal freedom is almost non-existent once you hit all the unnecessary and artificial roadblocks and limitations they put on the Create modes. If the Fire Pro series ever really comes back and hits America with any decent force, the WWE SvR series is toast.

Three stars, mostly because it's still fun to play, even if you can't play it your way.

I've had this game since the 17th, and have already maxed it out on achievements. This game is definitly an easy achievement game, a lot easier than 07, 08 or 09. If you're interested in a quick 1000, this could definitly be up your alley.

I will assume most people looking at this review have played at least one of the last 3 year's games (07,08 and 09). Having played all of them, I can easily say this is the best in the series. They made a ton of tiny changes, that make the game more realistic (More reversal animations, leap-frogging or ducking a running opponent, red marks on your chest/back after taking a Ric Flair-patented chop).

What's better this year in comparion to '09? Well pretty much everything. There's nothing '09 had '10 doesn't that makes a difference. The gameplay is almost identical, yes so much better with the addition of the tapping out system, the flipping bodys over. The only thing I miss about '09 was the two-button reversal. ('09 had a reversal system where LT was pushed to reverse strikes, and RT to reverse Grapples. Now pressing RT and timing it correctly will reverse both).

Create a superstar is SO MUCH BETTER. Looking online to see creations that were up, I saw "The Flash" from DC Comics fame, and it looked identical. Suicide from TNA was also found, and again that was almost identical to the real life version. I know I'll be having fun with this feature, months down the line. The loading times are almost gone entirely too.

Road to Wrestlemania bothered me a bit. They basically took old storylines, and added new twists, and remade the cast. For example, Edge's RTWM is a re-hash of the "La Familia" storyline that took place last year, however instead of it being Vicky Guerrero, it was WWE Diva Maria. The stories aren't identical, there are new changes, and new twists, but I already saw this storyline. I wanted something ENTIRELY brand new. There was a lot of "Holy crap" and "LMAO" moments. For anyone who doesn't mind playing through old storylines with new twists this isn't a problem. The stories aren't half-bad at least.

The soundtrack to the game has most of the WWE superstars tracks, but it does have a few songs that were very good. For a true WWE fan the soundtrack is perfect.

The videos in the game, like the opening cutscene to anybody's RTWM is crystal clear. Amazing quality, as are the entrace videos. These literally blew me away.

Scramble matches, intergender tag matches, Divas can now play pretty much every match type, interfereces were some nice new additions as well. I was surprised and happy to see unlockables in the game such as THE ROCK, and TRISH STRATUS. However dissapointed with pointless characters like the Red and Green dummies.

Lastly, the biggest mode in the game. What most were waiting for. The addition of Create-a-storyline. I do not believe this is as User-friendly as they wanted it to be, but once you start learning what to do, this will be the most used feature in my opinion. Not as many choices concerning promos, but for a first year attempt this was amazing. Hardcore WWE fans will go nuts over this. Now that I've maxed it out in achievements, I will be spending my time making stories, and putting them on youtube, in between matches with my other WWE-crazed fans.

Many people complain that any game that has a yearly installment is a rip-off. Not many changes are implemented, and that it's basically a $60 roster-update you're purchasing. I've heard this said for MLB, NBA, NFL games as well. With Smackdown 10, it's nowhere near the case. If you liked '09 in the slightest, or just felt that it had potential, well 2010 is what you've been waiting for.

Best Deals for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 - Xbox 360

As a WWE nut, the closest me or anyone really could get to being in the world of the WWE is through the SmackDown vs RAW games and it's creator content. Since the "2006" game, however, the franchise has been dwindling steadily downhill, with the game getting worse and worse and worse every year, by THQ either taking out content such as match types or wrestling moves for custom movesets, limiting players abilities to do things like give Created Superstars attributes without going through a whole song-and-dance routine, or by simply not giving us enough of what we want, like a full WWE roster (jobbers and midcarders, included). Last year's game was so cheap and barebones, I didn't even keep it. And a lot of people were just as unsatisfied, as well. This year's game's "Gimmick" seems to be all about the user-created content. "But isn't that weird?" you might ask, considering that the games have *always* had this. What makes things better this year? ARE things even better?

Well, I can tell you that while still not where it needs to be, especially for a 2010 game, WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2010 is a step in the right direction and a (slight) improvement over last year's game enough so to be an improvement. Great, no. Not by a long shot. But good... meh, I guess if you compared to "2007", "2008", and "2009". It seems pretty much impossible by now that THQ and Cory Ledesma (the guy in charge of the WWE SmackDown! vs RAW video games) will give us what we truly want. They're very much strict on letting us players actually customize whatever we want or do whatever we want. Every year we're forced to play "their" way and to do things by "their" rules, instead of having full, unlimited customization, access and gameplay. But at least 2010 gives us more than what we've had in the past.

STORYLINES/SEASON MODE

As far as storylines go, the Road To Wrestlemania is back. And it's pretty much the exact same thing. That sucks, I guess, depending on if you liked last year's RtW storyline or not. It's more of the same thing. You take a specific WWE Superstar through a storyline, that leads up to Wrestlemania and them winning (or not winning) the top belt. I guess this year, they tried to give you more choices and options in the mode, resulting in alternate paths in the Road to Wrestlemania for one guy. The problem is, if you're NOT a fan of Cena, Edge, or Randy Orton, playing through their mode (to complete the game and unlock things) can be quite the chore. It's only as fun as your personal preference to the superstar.

GM MODE/STORY DESIGNER

Next, there's the STORY DESIGNER. At last, I can finally say General Manager's Mode is BACK! Only this year, it's named the "Story Designer" and allows for more imagination than what the GM Modes of past games offered. Okay, so it's not *technically* GM Mode. But it works similar to it, minus the nitty-gritty details like budgets, injuries and superstar morale. You can edit and create just a lot of unique WWE scenarios using this new Story Designer. Type in dialogue, and watch your superstars say it on-screen (through words, not actual voices, even though that would be so cool!) Customize the camera angles, choose your cast and watch it play out on TV. There ARE some limitations; some ignorable, some outright insane. The biggest one being how restricting they are with your Created Superstars. You can only use them a few times in any given story, and cannot mix genders in storylines that aren't romantic based. This very sadly means, no creating your own alternate WWE Universe with an entire roster of your own created WWE Talent. Yes, you will have to use John Cena and the real superstars the majority of the time because you're very much limited with Created Superstars in the Story Designer. At first I didn't know why they did this, but then I've figured out it's because you can export your created stories onto the web. So what that means is instead of being able to use your created people an infinite number of times, they instead only allow you to "clone" them, up to ten times per story, so that it's possible to export them off your game without affecting your "real" created superstar. I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be nearly as much limitations on them if they had just decided you'd rather record them and post them on YouTube than actually exporting them off the game, itself. Yeah, this sucks big time and it's annoying, but if you can get past that, you really can create your own WWE Universe (you'll just have to stick to using the real-life WWE Superstars and the small number of preset animations given.)

CREATE A SUPERSTAR

The Create A Superstar mode (unoffically referred to as 'CAW' or 'Create-a-Wrestler') is somewhat beefed up now and you can create more than ever before. Unfortunately, THQ still motion scans all of their superstars in the game, meaning no matter WHAT you do and how hard you spend editing your superstars, they'll still look like phony, created digital people with detection issues rather than the realer looking WWE Superstars. The 3D Objects help make them look "less fake" but they still only look "less fake" and not actually "real" even if you're trying to create someone real and not 'The Joshinator' kid from the TV commercials. The problem with creating superstars is that there seems to be some kind of psuedo-realistic limitation to how much stuff you can put on one guy, due to the 3D limiations of the technology. You're given "points" to spend on clothes and objects, and the more points means the more complicated the superstar's wardrobe is, which of course, means restrictions. 48 points seems fair enough, but the major issue is that hair can take up to 32 out of those 48 points! Yes, just the hair! (If you want a guy to be wearing a fancy business suit, you'd best make him bald!) Also, the Hairstyles in this game still suck, as they ALWAYS have! Unless you're creating a White male age 18-30, don't expect any good hair choices here. Even women's hairstyles in this game are limited. Maybe they (incorrectly) figured not too many people make created divas?

I should also point out, there is a HUGE problem with creating Divas. The good news is, they can compete in most any of the formerly Male-only matches. The BAD news is, no more Divas against Superstars! No more Women vs Men. Why, man?!? This sucks, for sure! I can understand real WWE Divas don't fight Superstars too often, but this KILLS Created Superstar-Diva interaction, which is really the true fun of these games. But maybe THQ did it to be more realistic? Or perhaps to cater to the PG-WWE audience that has plagued WWE for the past year and a half now? I don't know, but it blows. The "no intergender matches" and "ten created superstars per story" are the two biggest issues in this game and those two alone take away one and a half (if not two) whole stars from this game's review. It's THAT bad.

Oh yes. Addding stat attributes is now much easier than before. Mostly, all you do is have Created Superstars compete in matches and they earn "Experience Points" in that way. You can then use the points to boost whatever stats you wish. And this works even if you don't play with them yourself, and let the computer do all the work for you, while you watch TV. Of course, the irony in "cheating" by letting the computer earn the points for you is that you'll have to make sure they'll be put into a match type they can win, despite their weak stats, like a two-on-one handicap match, for example. In fact, doing handicap matches is a good way to boost two created superstars points, at once. Another way is to have them fight against another created superstar whose stats are even lower than theirs.

Create-A-Finisher is also back. And this time, you can do diving finishers. I have to say the diving finishers are a lot more fun and creative than the Front Grapple finishers (I only make striking finishers out of them, such as punch combos) but ultimately, using the premade ones that already exist are probably better, as again, Create A Finisher most of the time, will only let you create most moves that already exist in one way or another, anyhow. So even IF you create your own custom powerbomb, there'll probably already be a move like that or similar to it in the game's huge animated moveset. The only fun really that you'll get out of them is by getting to name your finishers. Or, if you can pull off something totally bizarre and truly unique using it.

ENTRANCES & PRESENTATION

The Highlight Reel Create-An-Entrance is back now and this year, you can actually MAKE entrances with it now! Go figure. What really surprises me is how User Friendly the Highlight Reel is. No, you don't have to know AfterEffects to make your own, cool entrance video. You DO, however, have to fish for footage during matches, though, and save them for later when you actually create the video. It'd be a lot simplier if you cold just make whatever match scenario you wanted IN the mode, instead of having to get footage now, and edit it later. But I'm not really complaining. The Highlight Reel IS cool and actually adds more replay value overall to the game. The more creation modes, the better the game gets, overall, and this helps, big time.

The Create an Entrance options are still more of the same, though. Most are just recyled animations of former WWE Superstars or older, outdated animations of current ones like Randy Orton's old Legend Killer one, or Chris Jericho's Y2J Pose entrance. The names for Created Superstars are long gone now, sadly. Why?!? No more "Chris" or "Christina", but instead you now get 'The Superstar' and 'Thunder!' That sounds fun! (Not.) THQ, please bring back actual names for our Created Superstars! I very much dislike my guy having to be called The Prince.

Overall, the graphics are still bad (for 2010) because we've now got games that approach photo-realism in the way they look. SvR '10 does not look even remotely close to "realistic." Most the time, I don't care about graphics in the games, though. But what really makes the presentation stand out this year is the *attention to detail* in realism. While the Created Superstars still get the shaft as they've always have, the overall look tries to recreate the feel of a WWE Match as realistic as THQ can pull off. This includes camera angles, WWE copyright logos at the end of the show, and commercial breaks between events in Story Designer (Minus the actual commercials, of course). Even the Heads-Up Display, which shows you your health and all, has been redone so that it's now just a shadow halo under your Superstar. Overall (bad graphics aside) it tries to re-create the real WWE TV feel as much as THQ can pull off, although I'm sure they'll do a much better job in the future.

MATCHES

I don't know how many actual new matches there are available seeing as I ditched 2009's game, but the look, feel, and the play of the matches have all been improved! The Royal Rumble and Superstar Scramble are just two of the matches which have been upgraded and enhanced for a better playing experience. Also, Divas can now participate in the more extreme matches, as well. Sadly, as I sad before though, the option of females versus males has been eliminated! That sucks balls for any create-a-character fan! Half of them created are female, so that's quite a hurdle to overcome in match diversity and all! I should also mention, the blood mechanics have been reworked. It'll start from a tiny burst-open gush of blood, to a full-on red shower. Blood will also splatter on the mat and other superstars, as well. Sweat is also included and will glisten a superstar or diva in and after a match. It's more realistic, this time around.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay is pretty much the same, more or less. While a total rehaul of all these ancient old moveset animations would be nice, it's at least progress to see some new animations in there amongst the same old ones we've been seeing for the past ten years or so. The countering is now done with one button, instead of the Counter Strike/Reversal Grapple situation we've had for forever, now. The only problem with this one button system is, they've seemed to work in a rule that you won't be able to counter all the time, now. Even IF you counter it, perfectly. Roughly one out of five times, you won't have the ability to counter a move, even if you manage to hit the button with perfect timing. I guess this was added in to make sure people don't over-abuse the system and give grapples and strikes an actual chance to connect sometimes (what with one button countering almost making things much too easy), but it SUCKS when you can't counter, even if you DID counter with perfect timing. Esepcially against the computer on Legend difficulty. And you also can't counter some things at all, like certain enviromental grapples the computer does on you, or the ever-so-dreaded "ground and pound" punches you'll NEVER be able to counter. Never-ever-ever! If a computer opponent starts bashing you in the face while you're on the mat, you'll just be utterly helpless to do anything to stop it, and you are at their mercy for ten strikes to the face (which can KILL all your momentum, by the way.) I HATE it when they do that, SO SO much!!! Of course, they can counter it effortlessly, literally before you even start hitting them, even if it's set on Easy! You'll almost never make it to the full ten punches you can do up to. Most of the time, you'll be lucky if you get four in.

OVERALL

WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2010 is NOT a perfect game. It is NOT the Nintendo 64 "WWF No Mercy" killer, nor is it the "No Mercy" of our time. I would even say, it's still not as good as the best SmackDown! vs RAW game, the 2006 edition. However, it IS one step in the right direction for THQ and us fans. The game franchise has been on life support for years now, and in this year's installment, we finally get a glimmer of life breathing back into the once-stale "SmackDown! vs RAW" game franchise. The game has a LOT more replay value when you add in Story Designer, the Highlight Reel, Create a Finisher, and the kinda-tedious, kinda-fun goal of leveling up all your Created Superstars and Divas, even if you have 30 of them like me.

I think that this year's game, will very much be Hit or Miss. You'll either love it to death and call it "the best SmackDown! vs RAW game ever"! Or you'll be like me and still feel somewhat jaded about not having that "Dream Game" we've been waiting for, for literally years. On the creative side, No, you will not be in control of your own "WWE Universe" as they claimed you would be. But The Story Designer definitely brings you somewhat close to being your own Vince McMahon, if you have the creativity and drive. The Create A Superstar limitations are what hurts Story Designer very much though.

But if you want to know, put quite simply, if this is a WWE SmackDown! vs RAW game you should buy? I say... BUY IT. But maybe not for anything over fifty dollars. Wait for the price to maybe drop, first. It's no "No Mercy" killer, but it is one of the best SmackDown! vs RAW games in years. The Story Designer, Highlight Reel, and Create Modes will keep you playing long after you complete all the Road To Wrestlemania storylines in your first two weeks or so. Which is a lot more than what SmackDown! vs RAW 2009 could say.

Honest reviews on WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 - Xbox 360

I haven't purchased a wrestling game since the the first WWF Day of Wreckoning for the Gamecube, and before that I used to play all of the THQ wrestling games for the Nintendo 64. I'm reviewing this game based on personal experiences while playing the game.

When I first received WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 in the mail I was quite excited from all the videos I'd seen on youtube and reviews i'd read about how in depth the Create-A-Wrestler (CAW) system is. In fact i'll start with the CAW system.

Create A Wrestler System

When I first entered the CAW screen I felt overwhelmed with all the options I was confronted with. Sizings, logos, types of body part adjustments and accessories. After about 15 minutes of messing around it wasn't very difficult at all though, it was the typical THQ CAW mode. It's very limiting in a few areas. You can't choose your body size, your height affects your weight (weight class) for instance. You can pick your body TYPE but they don't offer many. Like if you wanted to make an authentic Yokozuma for instance, this system won't allow you to. All the "fat" characters you try to make, end up looking very husky yet powerfully strong. Very disappointing I must say. Also you can't make a very round face, if anyone of you have a very circular face, you won't be able to make yourself to the "T" in this game. Also the forehead adjustment actually adjusts the scalp. So everyone you make's forehead will always have the same area of space. The only setting I noticed that affected the actual forehead was the depth setting. There is a problem with cheeks as well, I was trying to make someone with puffy cheeks, it's not gonna happen in this game. They only go so big, and once again, you always end up looking muscley. If I went in depth about the restrictions of the CAW system this review would be several pages long, so I wont go that in depth. Overall I give it a 3 out of 5, it's pretty authentic, you can get people to look pretty close to like they do, but there is always that one thing that you are trying to fix but can never get right to make it just perfect.

Entrance Music, Titantrons, Announcements,Etc..

This is awesome, you can use the music you saved on your console hard drive and use it for your own custom entrance theme! I really REALLY like that feature. I always hated having my character coming down the ramp to stone cold or the rocks entrance. The actual superstar wrestlers music is totally authentic and very high quality, there is no crackling or static. Fireworks sound very good as well. And the announcements are very VERY authentic sounding. You can select from a variable cornucopia of city's and states to set as your characters hometown, and besides the superstars names, you can pick about 20 or so other names to be called when you enter the arena (ex. The superstar, The disaster, etc..). So you'll hear the name you select to be called, your hometown/state, if you're holding a championship title, all that sort of stuff you'd hear on a real wrestling tv show, like the type of match and rules as well. Also the ring & surrounding area will be set up for the match you're pursuing. The actual superstars have their own authentic titantron just like on TV, it's the same exact ones they have when they wrestle on TV, no animation, pure video. You can make custom videos for your CAW as well, utilizing the highlight reel. After every match you have the option to watch certain highlights, you can save them and use the create a highlight reel to make a custom video that you can later use to make an entrance video. Which is pretty cool if you ask me. However the only problem i've encountered is that you cannot edit in any way shape or form, downloaded CAW from the XBOX Live network, even entrances or music, which stinks!! Like I have Bret "The Hitman" Hart, and cannot use his actual entrance music that I have on my PC because the game bars you from selecting them in the Create an Entrance Video screen, you'll just hear a bonging sound if you try to select them. Very disappointing indeed. The entrances are really cool though, you can customize from a HUGE variety of movements, camera angles, lighting, effects, and fireworks. It's very customizable, of course you cannot make your own entrance movements etc, but there are so many to choose from you really don't need to. You can also choose 4 signs the crowd will hold for you as you wrestle, they are pre-made, there are LOTS of them, some are locked at first too.

Crowd.

Crowd is absolutely phenominal, the first 3D crowd i've ever seen. They hold signs YOU pick for your character. Up close they look like crap, but when you wrestle or when the camera angle changes to show the entire colluseum, it really looks amazing. They'll snap pictures and flash at just the right time, during finishers/signature moves etc. They chant so many things, they boo, they cheer, they get excited when you do certain things. The crowd, is the best i've seen in any game, ever.

Ring, Props, Wrestlers.

The ring looks very authentic, customized of course to the arena you're battling in. If you're playing a TLC match or cage match for instance, during your entrance you'll see all the props in place as you would on TV. The wrestlers look very authentic, as do the finishers. The finishing moves do a slow-motion, black and white, crowd camera flashing thing that looks just EPIC, very cool, will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up it's just awesome. Everything looks really good, graphical wise this game gets a 8/10. And it gets an 8 because with all the technology the developers have now a days, they could of done some more things to make it look as good as say, fable 2 or assassins creed 2.

Playing The Actual Game.

Gameplay and controls are pretty straight foward once you get used to them. Took me about 30 minutes of playing to become accustomed to the Type A default control setting, although there are a few to choose from. There are many matches to choose from, every type of match that is available in the WWE is presented well in this game. Now with that said, it doesn't mean the gameplay is the best ever made. There are many glitches, unfair situations, and AI trouble with this game. In fact, i'd have to say it's probably the most frustratin wrestling game i've ever played. The N64 versions were actually much more fair and realistic, sadly. For instance you cant put your opponent onto a table in the table match, you have to use a predetermined finisher for the table, it's usually a lame finisher as well. If you toss your opponent onto the announcer tables, it doesn't mean he/she will remain on it. The characters get pushed around on the tables like it's some sort of ice skating rink. For instance if you do a grapple on the table, the characters will slide and might fall off the table. In my opinion, the table should be an area that you can fight in without worrying about going to the edge and just floating off, I mean game makers can do so much in this new era we're in, yet THQ and Jakks pacific cannot get their wrestling games right after making them for WELL over 10 years. The gameplay is either too hard, or too easy, there is no in between, even with all the balancing tweaks they offer in the game options. The career mode, is extremely frustrating, for instance, I was playing for the past 4 days and had my character overall to around 70, for some reason I logged on today and he was back down to 45, I always save and never turn the system off during gameplay. Stuff like that will upset you during the gameplay. Also the ladder matches are extremely unfair, another instance where I was just playing Rey Mysterio about 10 minutes ago. A 20 minute ladder match ended with me losing, after giving Rey 4 finishers (including his own), numerous KO hits to his face with the ladder, and even interference finishers. How did he win you wonder? Well in the ladder matches in this game, when you hit top, you hold the LS or RS button up to reach, a red suitcase appears and as you hold the suitcase image will deplete red and turn black, obviously showing you how much further you have, it would take about 1 minute or so of continuous holding to reach and win. I had it down to the very bottom, maybe another second when Rey reached the top of the ladder and fought me, he tossed me off, reached up for a second and won. Yes so it doesn't matter who reaches, the suitcase reach status image will deplete and stay at it's percentage drained no matter if it's you or your opponent reaching. So you can get it all the way down, then he can climb up for a microsecond and win, really unfair, and kinda stupid I must say. The glitches are just numerous, I mean you have to wonder, did the developers test the game before they released it? It's a really shotty display of finalizing a game, either that or just pure laziness. The wrestlers AI is horrid, they are totally overpowered, they will reverse so much during career mode it's not even funny. I dont think i've gotten a strong grapple move off during career mode yet, it's really lame. And my settings are on difficulty normal, and i've had to lower the AI reversal rate because it was getting too ridiculous, long store short i lowered it down to about 15% in all AI reversal areas, and they still reverse just about every strong grapple. Also the road to wrestlemania really blows. You have to choose either a CAW or something like 4 or 5 current wrestlers that the game tells you to. So you can choose from like Edge, Ortiz, etc. Really lame, i'm an old school wrestling fan, I dont like some of these guys, I never liked edge to begin with, am I supposed to like him now because he is the Champion? Hell no I wanna choose Rock, or Stone Cold (which by the way you have to buy Stone Cold in the online store for 80 microsoft points because these theives didn't include him with the basic game unless you pre-ordered it, which then you get a one time use code to enter to get stone cold). I haven't played any online matches so I cannot comment on that portion of the game. I'm assuming it'd be pretty cool playing with someone across the country/world as a tagteam or one on one. Sounds awesome!

Overall i'll give this game 3/5 stars. THQ has been on the right track for years, they ALWAYS lack the final push when they make their games though. They always forget to include those 1 or 2 cool things that will put the game over the edge. In this case they must of forgot to test the game because of the huge variety of bugs that are in the game. I mean hell offer an update or something to fix the game, I haven't seen one yet. If you're still wondering if you should buy this or not, first, look at the date, if it's close to 2011 just wait, a new one will come out, maybe they will fix some of the stuff. 2, if you really cant decide, just get it, it's like $29.99 now, plus with amazon's free super saver shipping it will be $29.99 total cost. Hope this helped, I've had this game for 4 days roughly and can honestly say i'm glad I bought it. I look forward to playing it, but after about 45 min or an hour each session I usually get pissed lol because the AI isn't as good as it could be, like I said earlier, the AI is too overpowered.

EDIT 5/22/2010:

Found this link for SVR 2011, Maybe this time they'll get it right, we'll have to wait and see().

After years of disappointing releases in the series, THQ/Yukes finally stepped up their game, pun not intended. While the game still has a ways to go, it's definitely bringing the series in the right direction.

Pros

-Alt attires for both CAWS and to In-game Superstars.

-New CAF position

-Upgrade points can be gotten in any match

-Create a Logo tool

-Graphics

-Highlight Reels can be used as entrance videos

-3d CAW parts

Cons

-AI is rather stupid

-CAF is limited and transitions are spotty

-Grinding, while improved, is still a pain

-3d CAW parts take up alot of points

-Hair and clothing options for CAWs have been cut

-Numerous moves cut

-Lack of submission moves

-Career mode lacks any real appeal

-Poor unlockables

Overall the pros outweigh the cons and the AI, while stupid, is able to be overlooked if the sliders are changed.

I have both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I never thought I would buy a PS 3 but after hanging out at the stores to long during the Holiday shopping I ended up buying one. I must say, so far I'm very impressed. Its easy to see why Sony was charging a lot for this when it first came out, this thing is loaded and the fit/finish seems top notch. Compared to the Xbox 360 the PS3 seems very well thought out. The Xbox some days seems like something I built in my basement. The Xbox is so loud when you are playing a game. I can't figure out why MS would think anyone would want to watch a movie through their HD-DVD player as you would have to turn the movie sound way up to block out the 360's fans.

The PS graphics are very very good, and the blu ray dvd is just an added bonus to a very good game system for the new lower prices. Also, its nice to have the on-line game play be free, compared to the Xbox $50 a year. It's not that the xbox is bad, the PS3 is just more refined. I also expect fewer problems with the PS3 than the Xbox. I have only had one issue with the xbox, the tv connector cable went bad, but I know several people who have had 2-3 360's just die on them.

The Wii shouldn't be compared to the PS3 or the Xbox. Its a great game system with the innovative controlers and the easy to play games. Its the only system my wife will play and she never played games before. That is the beauty of the Wii, it truly is a game system for everyone.

So far I see a lot of pro's for the PS3 and a couple of cons.

Pros

Graphics

Blu Ray DVD

Wireless internet connectin built in

Rechargeable wireless controler

Very quiet

Doesn't run very hot

build quality

free on-line game playing

Cons

Not many games yet

No hdmi cable included.

For all of you considering the PS3 this is one of the best choices you can make when it comes to home entertainment. Gaming and multimedia are taken to the next level.

First getting my hands on the PS3 made me realize that this is the largest Playstation conosle by volume and weight they have ever come out with. I quickly realized how sturdy and well made this product is. The plastic that is used is solid and heavy duty. I also realized how easy dust and fingerprints attract to the shiny finish which is both plastic and fake chrome. Connecting the PS3 was the easy part. Unlike the Wii and 360 Sony has left the power station inside the console. Which means you only need one heavy duty plug to connect. From the back of the console you have many choices for video and audio outputs. The standard AV outlet is there which allows you to play with the cables it comes with or to buy component cables for high definition viewing. You also have a optical digital output for full digital sound. New to any video game console is HDMI output. This allows you to have the PS3 in full high definiton video and audio. HDMI is capable of a full digital signal allowing 1080p true high definition picture. It is also capable of unleashing 7.1 high definition sound. So audiophiles should be happy about what this console offers. On the front end you get two USB ports. This allows you to connect various devices like a photo camera, internet camera, mouse, or even a printer. The Sony PS3 has a feature that allows it to be on standby at all times. Which is similar to the other consoles. I will talk more about this feature on the PS3 further in the review.

I would like to cover all the interface options the PS3 accompanies seperately so consumers can become aware of all the advantages this console carries. For those of you familiar with the Playstation Portable this interface is almost exactly the same.

You are able to create seperate logins for anyone who uses the PS3. This allows for each person to go online with their information. Although it doesn't really have many more advantages than that right now it is rather insignificant.

Next is the system settings. This allows the user to adapt the PS3 to their television and sound system. You can adjust the high defention settings to fit the maximum resolution of your t.v. You also have setting for your blue tooth devices and internet connections. The PS3 comes with built in wi-fi which seems to have a strong connection that gives you almost seamless online use.

The PS3 also has a photo viewer. You can download pictures by using your camera and connecting it via USB. I haven't checked to see how viable this option is. Generally you get your standard slide shows although they have a fun feature. One of the features takes your pictures and gracefully places them onto a blank canvas. I think the slide shows are best when you set them to music.

Next is the music player. You can download your pics via CD which is rather quick. I have done this numerous times putting quite a music collection on my PS3. Although Sony has talked about having downloads via the internet which I think would go over very well. You can listen to music while viewing a feature that uses colors and textures. It is your standard music viewer...nothing special there.

I want to talk about one of the most notorious features of the PS3. The Bluray player. Most of you now know what a Bluray player is and does. I have viewed numerous movies on it. I have also viewed these movies on two different hdtv's. One a 1080p and a 1080i. I really did not notice much of a picture difference. After viewing a few movies on the XBox 360 hddvd player and the PS3 Bluray player I really did not notice much of a difference. One thing I have noticed about hd movies is that the ones more than a couple years older have a slightly grainy appearance since they were remastered for high definition. Newly made movies appear crystal clear with vivid colors and tremoundous definition. The PS3 does allow you to view regular DVD's which can make the transition that much easier. The regular DVD movies are upscaled on your HDTV allowing an excellent picture. For many of the new movies it is almost difficult to notice a difference in a DVD picture and Blu-ray picture.

Now would be the gameplay part of the interface. This keeps track of the game disc you may have in the player or also games or demos that you have downloaded. This interface is rather simple and easy to negotiate. One feature that is sadly missing from the 40 gig is backwards compatibility. Although you can still play PSone games, PS2 games are a no go. As far as the games go I have played numerous games plus several demos. The games that are non exclusive like Madden Football are deficent on the PS3 compared to XBox 360 counterparts. The game speed is smooth and polished. The visuals on exclusive PS3 games like Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank is quite impressive. The PS3 seems to create a living vivid environment with the ability to create many textures and surfaces. Game demos like Motorstorm and Gran Turismo HD show what the PS3 is capable of. Amazing graphics and sound quality will become apparent in many of the games this holiday season and beyond. I have also enjoyed the few full games that are downloadable. The games have enhanced hd graphics and are affordable at only $7.99-$9.99. What I have enjoyed is online gaming. With the PS3 you don't have to pay any added fees. The gameplay was seamless and quick and allows you to use a blue tooth headset when playing. I also believe you can use your PS2 headset via USB. The online gaming is virtually the same as the 360.

Lastly I will cover the online features of the PS3. On the interface online is a big part. From the browser to having friends and checking your mail. Of course the largest feature is the Playstation store. Which is obviously not very unique. The 360 has a market which could be considered the pedigree for consoles. The Wii is limited to just classic video games. The Playstation store is decent right now with very numerous items to download. You have games, demos, and movie trailers. The store will continue to grow and has a nice feature that allows you to dowload PSone games for the Playstation Portable (PSP). After dowloading it to your PS3 then you transfer it via USB to your PSP. Also a very intriguing feature that I think is really amazing is called remote play. When your PSP is integrated into your PS3 you have the ability to view and listen to stuff on your PS3 anywhere in the world with your PSP. All you need is a wifi connection. I have tried this feature out and it's really enjoyable. I was able to view movie trailers and listen to my music on my PSP. The feature is nice although it is supposed to work when the PS3 is on standby. It did not work for me then. Only when the PS3 was on and set for remote play.

There are also two features that are becoming more apparent for owners. Folding at Home is a beneficial program that works with Stanford University. The program runs when your PS3 is idle. What it does is run computations that help scientists work for many cures to diseases. A beneficial plus to the PS3. I can vouch for having my PS3 on nonstop 24 hours a day 7 days a week for many months without any problems. Secondly I want to talk about HOME. No not your real home but the PS3 program that will be available early 2008. This program will be a virtual online social interface allowing you to meet numerous other PS3 players. I have been allowed to participate on the Beta version and I must say this has extreme potential.

2008 will be an exciting year for PS3 owners. The experience is already excellent with over a dozen very good games. The PS3 will have over a half dozen superb games releasing next year. Games like Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy are just the beginning. If any of these games suit you it would be an excellent reason to own a PS3.

In closing I will say without a doubt the PS3 has been quite an experience. I feel the $400 is well worth it for the features you get. Wifi, Bluray, HDMI, and of course the game playing.

I believe many of you are on the fence and trying to justify a large scale purchase like this. The games are here and the experience is superb. If you want a wonderful living room centerpiece that will provide numerous hours of use the PS3 is the way to go.

Best Deals for PlayStation 3 40GB System

By now, everyone knows the details of the system. I had to chose between the 40GB and 80GB system. For me, it was easy. I don't need any of the extra features of the 80GB system. (limited PS2 compatibility, extra USB, card reader, Motostorm game etc.)I also didn't need the 80GB because I upgraded the 40GB HD with a faster 120GB HD, and it only cost me an extra $55. The 40GB system also has the 65nm Cell Processor. So for less than the 80GB system, I have a faster, quieter, cooler, and more energy efficient 120GB system.

Honest reviews on PlayStation 3 40GB System

All the news I read said 60GB was the only way to go if you wanted a PS3 with backward compatibility. Therefore, I rush into nearest BestBuy to get a 60GB when I saw online news said 60GB was sold out in most of retail stores on 11/02/2007.

I was not very happy when I realized my new PS3 was running HOT and LOUD, believe me it was very LOUD. I exchanged it for another 60GB next day. This one was a little better, IMO; however, it was still running HOT and LOUD. I went to Target, and got another 60GB. This one was not any better. I told myself this had to be a design flaw but I would give it for another try. Therefore, I returned it and bought another 60GB from Target again. Four out of four, they were all running HOT and LOUD. I gave up at this point, and returned the last one purchased from Target. At this point I almost wanted to learn to live with the noise since I enjoyed the Blu-ray so much and had some fun playing those demo games.

I went online and did some more research. I found 40GB should consume a lot less energy than 60GB and 80GB. IMO Energy = Heat; therefore, I was in BestBuy again on 11/10/2007 with my family and bought a 40GB. Installed it in the evening, watched a regular SD DVD and left it on over night for downloading. WOW, it ran much quieter and it was even running quieter than my HR20-100 (a DIRECTV HD DVR). Off course, I return the last 60GB I had the following day.

My decision metrics:

1. Can I watch movies with the PS3 running so LOUD?

NO WAY!

2. How important is the backward compatibility to me?

I can keep my PS2 connected to TV, still; however, I should move on and focus on PS3 ONLY for game playing.

3. Do I need two more USB ports and memory card slots?

Not such a big deal.

4. Is 40GB big enough?

I DON'T care.

I would buy another PS3 when it starts using 65nm processor rather than the current 90nm in the near future. Now 40GB is the only way to go IMO. I hope my journey to a 'QUIET' PS3 can help you make your decision on your future purchase.

Review of Xbox 360 Energizer Power & Play Charging System

Xbox 360 Energizer Power & Play Charging System
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I was looking around for what charger would be perfect for not only charging my batteries but keeping them charged and even holding the controller for when I wasn't using them and I've used all that are on the market and I have to say that Energizer got it perfect.

First, the look of it is great and sleak. Others complain that it doesn't match their Elite or SE controllers but the truth is that the controller(s) basically shadow the charger itself anyway so it doesn't matter. The light unlike the Nyko is great, it's not too bright like the Nyko station but not too dull like the TeknoCreations charger.

Second, the build is by far the best out of the three or four charger bases out there. The tree-like charger isn't too light like others have said, when it's not charging anything it's light because...well it's not charging anything. Makes sense. It's also not top heavy as also referenced, as long as you have it on a flat surface of course. Somone who may put it on carpet or something along those lines would be wobbly.

Overall: Best looking charger station, which is what they were going for, and not too much more in price. Not to mention it holds your controllers well. 5/5

This charger does everything it says on the case, including the part that says batteries not included. The batteries being not included is kind of a let down, but it charges only actual xbox batteries or energizer which cost, at the cheapest price, around 10 dollars each. That would make this item cost way too much. The product itself looks great and is a great place to not only charge the controllers, but also a nice place to store them when not in use. It is very sturdy and has no problems holding or charging 2 controllers at a time.

This is far superior to the nyko chargers primarily because you don't have to remove the batteries ever again. It also charges in the same amount and looks much better.

looks great works excellent charges energizer rechargeable batteries and microsoft rechargeable packs without a flaw, i was reading the reviews and i was doubtful but glad it works excellent this would of been perfect in black for my elite system love it. looks great next to my ps3 exactly same type model controllers charger.i would recommend this to my friends who own the ps3 version chargers it looks great next to each other.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Energizer Power & Play Charging System

I love this charger, I have had it for months, I originally purchased is from EB when they first came out, and am buying another one as a present. I have been waiting for a charger like this for quite a while. Displays my controllers very nicely, and I have NO WEIGHT ISSUES. It charges just has fast as the Microsoft charger, except you can use energizer rechargeable batteries or the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Controller Battery Pack. I have nothing bad to say about this attractive addition to my home theater system.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Xbox 360 Energizer Power & Play Charging System

First off, I would give this charging system five stars just because it was easy to take out of its box. No hard plastic, so I didn't cut myself or have to go get the scissors just to get this thing open (unlike the plastic MS's Play n Charge kits come in).

Now, on to the actual charger itself. While shopping around for chargers, I settled on this one because

1) Unlike the Microsoft charger, I didn't have to take the battery packs out of my controllers.

2) Unlike the Nyko charger, I could use the Microsoft rechargeable battery packs that I had already purchased. Plus, the bad thing about the Nyko charger is that both of the batteries come in white. This is great if you only have white controllers, but I have an Elite system that came with a black controller as well.

This is a nice little system because I can leave the batteries in my controllers and just have to plug them in to start charging them. Charge time was excellent, and the red and green lights indicators are a great touch. The unit feels sturdy and I can't understand why other reviewers would have a problem with it tipping. Also, it looks cool! The other charging systems might charge faster, but you can't beat this one for ease-of-use, looks, and overall convenience.

I would indeed recommend this charging base to all my friends.
