The Hobbit Review

I just finished The Hobbit for Xbox last night and I have to say it was VERY well done. I can't believe it got lousy reviews from the magazines! I guess they were trying to compare it to LOTRwhich I didn't care for (the games)other than the first onewhich this is BY FAR better. It's very much like Zelda Windwakerwith the exception of one particularly difficult level mid way through where it becomes this huge brawl and you die repeatedly! But after getting past that messthe game opens up and becomes a huge puzzle solving thing where the puzzles are hugely fun! Go figure? The character animations are average, but the level designs are supurb! The music is spectacular, and the artistic direction is excellent! A lot of work went into crafting this great game! I highly recommend it!

As an avid Hobbit fan, I was compelled to purchase this game. Having read the book is not critical, however, your enjoyment will be greatly enhanced knowing about hobbits, Bilbo and the others from middle earth. The amazing thing is this game is almost as much fun to watch another play as it is to play your self. Some of the tasks are fun and others are very difficult. Normally I do not like the violent games, but the battles are against goblins, wizards, spiders, and a dragon. Again, some easy and some are very hard.

Hours and hours of fun. I highly recommend this game. (For what it's worth, I am in my late 50's).

I and my 6yr old son have enjoyed this game so much! The narration almost stayed true to the original story. It is quite challenging at certain levels. But soon even kids can defeat wight lord!I think it is one of the best games we played so far. Shrek 2 was fun as well as Spyro a hero's tail and finding Nemo. Most of the games available in this platform are rated Teen or Mature which is not suitable for small kids either because of the difficulty or graphic content. Very few games are really worth spending your money and Hobbit is worth every penny. If anyone likes my list and have any suggestions for new game please let me know so that I can play them.

Honest reviews on The Hobbit

I absolutely loved this game. It took me a couple of weeks of playing but I finally beat it. It was challenging without being impossible. There were a few tough spots but after trying to get past them a few times and developing a strategy it was do-able. I reccommend this game it was a lot of fun.

Best Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future Deals

Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Let's get one thing straight: This is easily the most realistic dolphin simulator on the Dreamcast today.

The graphics are, in a word, outstanding. When I got my first look at the undersea world (at the game's option screen, no less), my mouth was agape. Sunlight rippled on the colorful ocean rocks, jellyfish bobbed slowly in the gentle tide and bubbles lazily floated to the surface. It truly was beautiful. It's clear that the good folks at Sega did their research when it came to creating this undersea domain.

The animal models themselves are also well-done. Ecco looks and swims just like a real dolphin. Add countless sharks, fish, jellyfish, turtles and other undersea life and you have an entire ocean at your fingertips.

Enough rambling about the graphics, there's a game to play.

To begin with, I don't really care for the story. Sometime in the future, humans and dolphins work together to explore space. Some interstellar deity known as the Foe doesn't take kindly to that, and invades the Earth. Mankind, with its limitless intellegence and resources is forced to stand by while the dolphins take matters into their own hands. Er, flippers.

Naturally, you control Ecco in the 3-D undersea world. All of his moves from his 16-bit days are here. You can swim, swim really fast and sing songs. There are a few powerups, most of which let you swim even faster.

The controls are actually difficult to master. Getting Ecco to swim is easy, getting him to swim the right way (AWAY from the sharks) is harder. You'll die quite a bit.

Plus, the missions (several in each level) are rather vague. Generally, you'll enter a new area; a nearby crystal will give you a very general hint, and you're left to fend for yourself. You'll rescue other undersea life, battle currents, jellyfish and millions and millions of sharks. Have fun!

Seriously, a little more guidance would have been welcome. This is a huge game, and the levels are very large. Just figuring out where to go is the game's biggest challenge. Plus, once you get there, mind-numbing puzzles will plague you every step of the way.

Don't buy this game just because of its graphics. It's a very deep and involving game, and there's hours of fun available for people who have the time. The rest of us, however will just want to watch Ecco swim and jump in the calm waters of the opening level.

Playing the demo of Ecco the Doplhin: Defender of the Future at E3 in May is what convinced me to purchase a Dreamcast. It is the best game I have seen or played for the system, edging out Jet Grind Radio, a great game in its own right. The graphics are superb, play control is intuitive, and the environment is immersive yet beautiful. Playing this game, you feel like you are a dolphin swimming in crystal waters, avoiding sharks, and (though the demo was't complete so I don't know for sure) saving the world. Sega and developer Appaloosa both deserve praise for this game, one where the avatar is not a gun-toting bi-ped, but instead a sleek aquatic mammal. I love sports games, fighting games, RPGs, and action adventure titles, but for most new games in these genres, you get the feeling you've played it before. Not with Ecco. Bordering on revolutionary, Ecco delivers a gaming experience freshly different and totally enjoyable. Sega should also be proud of this game as it showcases how fluid and graphically stunning games on the Dreamcast can be. Ecco is a must buy for any Dreamcast owner. If you aren't one already, become one, and get this game when it comes out.

Best Deals for Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future

The Ecco The Dolphin games for Sega's previous systems have always been a relaxed and relieving alternative to the droves of violent action/fighting games. Ecco The Dolphin: Defender Of The Future for Dreamcast carries over the theme and atmosphere of the past Ecco games, and injects the formula with smooth and realistic 3D evironments. This has to be one of the best looking console system games ever. Once you get over the hypnotizing graphics and sound however, you will find there are some problems with this game. The control is precise and responsive, but some levels are way too difficult, and offer little information to help the player complete the next objective. Unless you are a seasoned gamer, you will be overwhelmed to the point of boredom with the longs hours you must spend in order to finish Ecco. This is not one I would recommend for the kids...a lot of patience and skill are needed to play this game. If you are looking for a game with tons of depth that will pass the time however, you've certainly found it. Even if it makes you pull your hair out from frustration, Ecco: Defender Of The Future is a great title to have to showcase the graphical abilities of the Dreamcast, if nothing else.

Honest reviews on Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future

ECCO : DOTF. Received my copy a few weeks ago. Have been playing it alot, here is what I think of this game ;D Boot up, nice classic "SEGA" image appears (no music). Followed by the Appoloosia Interactive Loga (no music). You cannot skip past these scenes. Finnally you are presented with a luscious title screen, With Ecco presented in the middle, truley awesome title screen. But there is still no music! I looked down at my VMU and saw it has said "LOADING" on it, with these bubbles. Looked back at the screen and music began to play, "PRESS START BUTTON" flashes on the screen. You can see why it took a few seconds to load, it was because the following menus are AWESOME! Hit with 3D underwater scene with menu text in the middle, nice sounds... "poP pOP PoP" and "Gulp", real water sounds. They are very nice menus.... The game is very high quality. So much time has been put into it. At the start of a new game, after you have enetered in your VM Save game name (2 Blocks VM Data), you begin. BLAH BLAH BLAH. The levels are hard to start with, controls seem to be apart of that problem, I have only just really got the hang of it. When I first tried to move Ecco, I went all over the place! Remember, he can turn upside down, all around, knocks you off sometimes, like the small caves... There is always a task to complete in the levels. The levels are really good. The VM uses 6 blocks, for ECCO settings and an additional 2 blocks for each Save file.

Graphics are very high quality. Really pumping graphics in this game. The sound is also very good. Music is relaxing and changes often to suit the scene. There are two 2D levels in the game, they are like bonus levels, They look so cool! Although they are the classic 2D side on view, they have added a 3D 128bit touch to them, and they are so much fun ;D What really makes this a classic game, is the emotional story line. I am very impressed, although I havnt completed the game (which is massive) , I find the story is one of the best things you need in a game, Ecco has it. Its very touching. I hope you have found this review helpful. Dont turn down this game, its true quality.

When Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future was first released for the Dreamcast, it's mouth watering 3-D graphics and incredibly realistic environments were unlike anything else seen on the system to date, and even today with the Dreamcast sleeping with the fishes, Ecco is still one of the top best looking games for the ill-fated system. Just as it's 16-bit incarnations provided for the Genesis years before, this 128-bit update offers the aforemented incredible graphics and very challenging gameplay. As I said before, the graphics are incredibly lifelike and Ecco and all his on-screen fellows move very fluidly and it will be hard not to take your eyes off the screen. Unfortuneately, the same steep learning curve has been inherited here as well. It is very easy to get completely lost and stuck in the game and not know where to go or what to do next. All in all, this isn't a game for novice gamers, but for those who have played Ecco games of the past and look for challenging and lengthy gameplay will have plenty to look forward to here.

Reviews of X-Plane 10 Global Flight Simulator (PC & MAC)

X-Plane 10 Global Flight Simulator
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

SUMMARY

--------------

I've been using this product for the past two weeks, and have used both a mouse-yoke and a Saitek Pro Flight Yoke (PZ44). In short, X-Plane is a great simulator, built in a much more modern way code-wise than FSX (Microsoft Flight Simulator X); the flight model also performs better overall. It's not as "fun" as FSX and it's a bit less polished (development seems to be on-going), but it's a pleasure to fly in.

+ Excellent flight model (given good plane modelling)

+ Excellent terrain and road data

+ Professional software; same company makes a version approved for FAA simulator training (on approved hardware simulators)

+ Runs better than FSX

+ On-going development

Included aircraft modelled poorly; some are, frankly, atrocious

"bells-and-whistles" secenery poor to non-existant

Not game-like a la FSX; no real tutorials or "missions"

Clunky, technical interface

Some features are currently incomplete

DETAILED REVIEW

------------------------

If you install all the scenery at once, the install process will take ages. The total size of the whole shebang on-disk is around 55 gigabytes. I think, for me, that translated into an installation time over two hours. I assume most of that data are the extremely detailed wire-meshes of terrain and accurate road network data since 99% of the 3D scenery (buildings, trees, etc.) is autogen. Unlike FSX, the world, itself, can be pretty barren and you certainly won't see any landmarks (even such things as the Golden Gate Bridge are absent).

A few people's reviews seem to be commenting that the software runs slowly. This is true if you crank all the graphical settings up. However, the software's designed to be somewhat future-proofed, so we're not supposed to do that. If I set the graphics similarly in both X-Plane and FSX, I actually get slight better performance in X-Plane. X-Plane seems to be more graphics card-intensive than FSX, which is more CPU intensive, so that's a factor I kept in mind while jigging the settings.

Unlike in FSX, I needed to configure my Saitek Pro flight yoke and quadrant, manually assigning the levers and buttons to actions. Thankfully, that wasn't too hard (press a button, choose its function). Three minor issues: 1) I had to reverse the input for two of the levers (100% on the quadrant was registering as 0% in the software); 2) I still can't get my POV 8-way hatswitch to pan smoothly. The software registers it's directions as one of four button clicks, basically panning 25° with each click; 3) The red "cycle view" button on the yoke can't seem be made to work the same way as in FSX. None of these are major issues. Either they're caused by my own stupidity or diffences in the way FSX and X-Plane handle controller input.

The interface, itself, is a lot less user-friendly than FSX, but it's nowhere near unmanageable. You roll the mouse towards the top of the screen to expose a menu with dropdown lists, most of which lead to panels full of settings, and toggles, and guff like that. The whole thing has a very industrial feel to it, so I might not recommend it to people who aren't too comfortable with computers. If you're comfortable in the Windows classic Control Panel, you probably won't have too many problems with the interface.

The star of the X-Plane simulator is its simulation system. FSX uses look-up tables to run its simulation. This means that it will look-up how the plane has been calculated to act in the specific circumstance it's currently in. The look-up table system works well as long as the look-up tables are accurate and they've data on the current situation.

In contrast, X-Plane looks at how the forces of flight would affect the current shape of the plane. This gives very realistic results, as long as the aircraft is modelled correctly. Unfortunately, the included aircraft range from good to kind-of-atrocious. It seems like the X-Plane team recycled aircraft from earlier editions from what I have read. Certainly feels like it. A lot of them have low-resolution textures and simple modelling, which actually makes them fly oddly. Honestly, I spend most of my time in add-on third-party planes (mostly ones by Carenado, which are extremely true-to-life). Give it the correct data and X-Plane works wonderfully. Everything's just a bit more fluid and lifelike than FSX.

X-Plane is chiefly a simulator. It has no missions or any real tutorial. There are "senerios", such as fighting fires, landing on carriers, and landing space shuttles, but these aren't really fleshed-out missions like those in FSX. The ATC and AI flight isn't really finished yet, it seems. The software feels like a work-in-progress in terms of any sort of extra features on the whole. Updates have come every few months so far.

On the whole, am I happy with my purchase at 70-some-odd-dollars?

Yes, with reservations: 1) I had used the demo for two weeks before buying, so I understood what I was getting; 2) I had bought FSX at release, when it was roughly the same price as X-Plane 10; 3) I'm expecting it to improve with age as updates roll out 4) This is the first edition of X-Plane I've purchased and used.

If any of those things don't apply to you, either try out the demo or wait a few years. The price of the previous X-Plane version dropped significantly as it aged (and, probably improved). I don't see why X-Plane 10 would be any differnt.

Personally, after owning X-Plane 10 for about two weeks, I now prefer it over FSX. I still spend about 10% of my time in FSX, exclusively when I'm itching for missions or complex ATC. When I want to just have fun flying or want to try applying something I've read, I use X-Plane.

As many have stated before, calling X-Plane 10 a game would be a mistake. What it really is varies from person to person, but to make anything out of it requires you to put some time into it. Expect to spend an hour or so setting everything up, getting the graphics settings just right, configuring your joystick and other equipment to work just right... But once you do...

I am in the process of getting my private pilot/single engine rating. I hit a spot in my training just after I solo'ed where my landings were completely horrible. I got tired of hearing everyone say 'ohh, well, any landing you walk away from is a good one.' I hit a plateau that many students apparently hit. For over a month I was drilling patterns over my local airport with my instructor in the right seat, and I just couldn't seem to get it.

I decided to use X-Plane to get better. I got it as a gift last Christmas and I had been flying it on and off since then. I modified my yoke to make it smoother in pitch. And then I started doing patterns at my "local" airport. Eventually I just saved the game when I was on short final because the level off and flare was what I was having trouble with. And after a couple of hours, I finally got the hang of it. Over 100 virtual landings and I finally was able to always put the plane down safely in a crosswind. It wasn't exactly the same as the real thing, but it was really close. And my next lesson, I did it with in a real Skyhawk too.

So for me, X-Plane isn't a game; it is a training aid. It's close enough to the real thing that I got something useful out of it. And one that has paid for itself many times over.

So, for the plus'es, very realistic to the point of getting real skill out of it (as long as you put the time into it). Good graphics and performance can had with a strong computer and some time dialing the settings in. A strong community with plenty of free add-on's. It runs on Linux in addition to PC and Mac!

There are some con's though. The GUI is a bit clunky (there really needs to be a UI outside of the sim so you can configure everything before it loads. That way you are not sitting there loading the game twice when you want to change something). Installing was weird; there was a note in the folder of disks saying 'do not use the installer on disk 1, download the installer from our website'. I did and everything worked, but it was still odd. It is hard on your computer; you need a good rig to turn on a lot of the eye-candy (and even then, you probably can't max it out). And to get the most out of it a good joystick or yoke, rudder peddles, and a TrackIR are highly recommended. Cities and towns at high altitudes don't look right to me. And finally, not all of the included aircraft are created equal; some are kind of rough graphics wise compared to others.

The cons to me are minor though. All in all, if you want a serious flight simulator and you have the hardware to use it, get this. If you are looking for a more casual sim, give Microsoft Flight a chance. A combat sim, Rise of Flight. But look no farther if you want to learn to fly.

PS: If you are thinking about upgrading from X-Plane 9, I would recommend that you do so. X-Plane 10's performance, especially at higher resolutions, is a lot better in 10 than in 9.

Best Deals for X-Plane 10 Global Flight Simulator (PC & MAC)

I really hesitated before buying this product, and for good reason. The reviews out there are absolutely terrible. I had thought after reading them that I was paying $80 for a piece of paper to make a paper airplane out of. Despite all the heresay, I decided to decide for myself and downloaded the demo. Best decision I ever made! Unlike a lot of people who own fs9 or fsx, I was looking for a flight SIMULATOR. Not a game. I have a yoke I use with X-plane and every time I use the simulator, I am astounded by how realistic the flight characteristics are. In fsx, I never felt as if I were flying, I felt like I was playing a game; and I was. Every burst of wind, bit of turbulence, even wake turbulence is modeled perfectly. The graphics are so-so, but was not a problem for me as I use it primarily as a simulator. The whole "plausible" world thing really looks good as does the rest of the scenery. It's neat to see semis on the highway while flying low and slow. I was wary at first, but I am kicking myself for not buying this sooner!

Honest reviews on X-Plane 10 Global Flight Simulator (PC & MAC)

After some miscommunication with a software problem, the problem was remedied. This is the best Flight Sim on the market. As a retired pilot , I have flown X-Plane 9 many hours and found it to be as real as it gets for a sim. I am looking forward to even better flying with X-Plane 10. I heartily recommend this for any person who wants to learn how to fly or is a student pilot. Wish this had been invented when I was learning!!!!!!! Well worth every cent spent!

It's a great simulator. I got it to save some money on flying lessons, but my graphics adaptor wasn't enough to handle the game. With the right computer, this would be awesome, but mine just couldn't handle it. If you're going to use xPlane, read the system requirements and opt for more!

Game developers are constantly trying to make games more and more "realistic." Now we have action games that are more like watching movies cheesy B-movies but they're just not fun, and they slow the pace of the games to a crawl.

This insatiable quest for realism is even bleeding over into simple games like "Wheel of Fortune," where your game is interrupted every other second by computer contestants spouting stupid platitudes, or by Vanna White appearing to grin at you and show off her necklace, which looks like a belt buckle on a chain.

And what the heck is Vanna White doing *hosting* the show? Where is Pat Sajak? Vanna sounds like she's reading from a book titled, "Things Pat Sajak Might Say," and her inflection gives us a clue as to why her acting career didn't take off.

The game play is tried and true, but it does seem like you spin more bankrupts and lose-a-turns than the computer players do. I was also infuriated by the way the computer players constantly buy vowels as soon as they have the money -just like the real show!

Thankfully you can play with one or two players and no computer contestants... a *very* smart move from Atari.

The graphics are fine, nothing too flashy. I like how the camera is constantly zooming in and pulling back on the wheel or the board. The sound is adequate and, as previously noted, annoying.

Some of the other options included are useless. I tried to take the "contestant exam," and after a 30-second load time, I was presented with a puzzle. I solved it and was told I had gotten 1 of 16 correct; then I had to wait through another 30-second load time before puzzle No. 2 came up. Intolerable!

I also noticed no differences between the "quick play" and the "normal game," except the fact that my name was "Player 1" instead of "Dennis."

Overall, if you're a "Wheel" fan, you'll like this version. Believe it or not, I had a version of this game in the 1980s on a floppy disc that played better than this one -but as I've said before, simpler most of the time is better.

This is the first "Wheel of Fortune" game released on Playstation 2 and I believe this and "Jeopardy!" are the first two games released on Playstation 2 in 2004. I play it for a lot of times and I never feel that "I want to give up". Clearly, this is a perfect game with a real experience and some challenging puzzles. Also, it includes true audience sound effect for each letter that you guess. In addition, the graphics are perfect. So, this is a perfect game and absolutely recommended.

I just picked up the Black Ops: II "Hardened" edition today because I wasn't sure if i wanted to buy this game and therefore didn't reserve it to get the "Nuketown" maps in both multiplayer & zombies mode....so I picked up the "Hardened" edition for $20 more and got both maps, a cool tin case for the game and 2 cheesy "coins" that I have no idea what to do with.

With that being said I've played an hour into the single player, 2 hours into zombie modes and another 2 hours into multiplayer. I found the outcome to be a cross between Black Ops and MW3.....the single player and zombie modes are Black Ops all the way. The multiplayer however just screams MW3...the guns, settings, lighting, graphics....just the overall feel feels like an expansion to MW3. It feels very far from the original Black Ops I must say....not a single "snowy" multiplayer map in sight (yet).

I'm not sure if that's good or bad, because I sold my copy of MW3 on eBay earlier after purchasing on opening day. I had beaten the single player mode and was frustrasted as all h**l over the campers in multiplayer, so I got out early and sold the game hoping to get some of my money back.

I do like the sound of the guns in this game though....sounds alot "beefier" and you can feel it when the gun shoots...like you're really shooting the gun yourself. I dunno...it's hard to explain unless you play the game yourself.

Zombie mode is just as great as in the original Black Ops...I think that's the part of BO I played the most!! There are 3 zombie maps in the game and an additional "Nuketown" if you purchased the Hardened Edition or pre-ordered the game at certain places. "Nuketown" is fun because it looks exactly like the original Nuketown in Black Ops....except for the destruction from an asteroid plummeting to earth and decimating the place(you just have to see for yourself). It's fun to play and I can easily see myself getting lost for hours trying to make it to that next "level" against the zombies in that map.

I could blab on about some other things, but if you like Black Ops for the single player and the zombie mode then I recommend this game. Multiplayer I'm still unsure of because it plays too much like MW3 and that for me brings back too many nightmares.....thanks to all the idiotic "campers" out there. *sigh* Wars aren't won sitting in corners people....gotta run out there and take what's yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha So yes, in my 2-hr multiplay with this game there are already campers starting to take their spots in the brand-spanking-new maps. Such a shame.....people have to play like wussies!

Thanks for reading & I recommend picking this up if your a FPS player!!! ~ Thank you!

Overall, this game earns a five-star rating based on five categories: graphics, campaign gameplay, multiplayer gameplay, zombies gameplay, and extra features.

Graphics: 4 Stars

The graphics in the game are not as beautiful as other games on the market, but they are still incredible in their own right. When you have three major, feature-packed gametypes on one disc, you may not be able to have the best-of-the-best graphics. However, Treyarch clearly improved on them from the first Black Ops. From gunfire and weapon detail to facial expressions and maps, the detail in the graphics are awesome.

Campaign Gameplay: 5 Stars

Without spoiling any of the story, the campaign mode is great. Treyarch implemented a few decisions for the player to make which can alter the storyline throughout the game. The story itself is as immersive and compelling as the first Black Ops. As you play, you will be drawn into the story as if you really are the characters you play.

Multiplayer Gameplay: 5 Stars

Improvements to the multiplayer aspect of the game are immediately apparent. The "pick 10" addition to building custom classes makes it so that the player can precisely tune their loadout to fit their exact playing style. For example: if you only use your primary weapon, you can forego a secondary for another attachment on your primary. There are many more ways to mix-and-match, which can only be explained through playing for yourself. The revamped prestige system now gives you the option to permanently unlock a weapon, grenade, perk, or wildcard per prestige level which is helpful to those who want to prestige without losing their "golden child". Other improvements include gamecasting, improved theater mode, and much more. Can be played split-screen up to two or online up to four. One guest per Live account is allowed.

Zombies Gameplay: 5 Stars

The flagship improvement to zombies mode in this installment of the Black Ops series is "Tranzit" mode. This mode allows you to ride a bus between four different maps (which can each be played in survival mode on their own), all while building items which can aid you in the fight for survival. "Grief" mode allows players to team up to see who can survive the longer individually, or as a group. Custom games allow settings like "headshots only", inclusion of "hellhounds", and an "easy" mode for more relaxed gameplay. Can be played split-screen up to two or online up to four. One guest per Live account is allowed.

Extra Features: 5 Stars

Nuketown 2025 for online play, Nuketown 2025 Zombies, two avatar gears (including a zombie suit), and a soundtrack are all included in this purchase. For the Black Ops nostalgics, the two Nuketown maps are a must-have. However, they will be offered as DLC for those who can wait.

Best Deals for Call of Duty: Black Ops II -Xbox 360

Just got this game today and I must say I'm having a ton of fun. After MW3 I was skeptical whether or not the COD series could evolve but after playing this for a while you can see that Treyarch has really gone above and beyond to make this a great COD game. I played some multiplayer, zombies and campaign. The multiplayer is great and addictive as always and keeps me telling myself "one more game". The zombies which was one of my favorite things in Black Ops and WaW has been improved and now has its own campaign. The campaign although I have only played the first mission looks to be headed in the right direction. Great game.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty: Black Ops II -Xbox 360

I love the zombies great graphics and the best part is they there is a bank in zombies so you can really stock up on money.the multiplayer is even better you level up so fast and the guns are so cool I really recommend this game.

Zelda Twilight Princess has been eagerly awaited by legions of Zelda gaming fans. This version features a more adult Link who rides a horse, swings a sword and saves the day.

The title is available for both the GameCube and the Wii, and there are definitely some advantages with the Wii. First, you can see the game in 480p, which is DVD quality. It's not quite high definition, but it's still quite nice! Second, you get widescreen, which means you get much more game to see on the screen. Finally, you get to use the motion sensing controllers on your Wii to swing your sword, go fishing, aim your slingshot, and much more.

First, the gameplay. Most gamers will be thrilled to hear that Link is less cartooney in this game. That's not to say it's a mature title it's still a game without blood. You kill evil enemies who vanish in a puff of smoke. You go on a variety of quests, and it's very much good-against-evil. Rather, with this Link you're not a little 6 year old on a toy sailboat. Your Link is in his late teens, has his own house, owns a horse. He is harassed by three little tykes, but there's a certain young lady whose large eyes catch at Link's heart.

In no time at all Link is out in a world which is not all butterflies and daffodils. There are dark things afoot in Hyrle. The land is covered in twilight, and you turn into a wolf to deal with the shadows. Your senses serve you well in this realm. It's not too scary for kids but it gives the game much more depth for older players.

The graphics are rather impressive for a Link game. Remember, the game is still a cartoon, so you're not seeing detailed tanks or the pores in the characters faces. The world you are in is stylized. There is plenty of detail in 480p or even in regular TV resolution to show the orange pumpkins, green vines, and fluffy white chickens which make up Hyrule. The water ripples, the dust billows and the fire flickers in the fireplace.

How about the sound? The Link games were famous (or notorious) for the silly noises characters make. None talk. I suppose this makes it easy for them to convert the game to every language in the world they just change the text out and are all set. Also, you can change your name and your horse's name without any speaking issues. The voices might not know how to pronounce "Shadowfax".

Gameplay is just amazing in its length and depth. There are numerous worlds to traverse and dungeons to delve into. There are the standard collection of mini-games, quests, things to collect, puzzles to solve. You could easily play this for months and not be done. This isn't a game to race through to say "I solved it" and move on to something else. It's a world to immerse yourself in, to get to know every hill and dale, to track down those secret locations.

I really like how the Wii controllers integrate into the game. It's not like you are using them constantly, getting exhausted with hand movements. Instead, you do a fair portion with the regular joysticks for fine movement. The joysticks are used in a more general way, for sweeping sword attacks or relaxing fishing. You can use small movements if you want but it's much more fun if you get into the spirit of things and swing away. Just make sure you have that wrist strap properly connected!

Downsides? The little "he he he" voices can get annoying quickly, especially if you are stuck on a puzzle and they are tormenting you. Sometimes the checkpoints send you back further than you might like.

They do a good job of giving you little nudges if you get stuck, helping you figure out your way through the puzzles.

In general, I think they struck a great balance between "tame enough for younger kids" and "in depth enough for older players". There are a lot of teen and adult Zelda fans out there, and they'll be quite pleased with what the game offers. This is definitely one of those must-have for gamers who like adventure games even the slightest!

If you loved Ocarina of Time as much as I did, this will make you happy.

The graphics are gorgeous. The scenery is amazing. Everything looks beautiful, and the best part is it still feels like a Zelda game. They decided to revert back to the N64 Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask style graphics (but much cleaner, of course) rather than the cell shaded Wind Waker. I like the realistic character design much more for Zelda than the cartoonish one from the other recent games.

You can also get Twilight Princess on Gamecube, but the Wii version has some extra benefits. One such benefit is the interactivity. When you go fishing, you use the motion sensitive controller to cast the line into the water and reel the fish back. This makes it a lot more fun than the somewhat tedious sit-there-and-wait-to-press-A fishing game in Ocarina of Time. I'm glad they revamped the fishing and brought it back. Also, it is much more integrated in the gameplay than the last fishing minigame in a Zelda game (which was, of course, in Ocarina of Time). You use fish in sidequests and for other purposes.

As far as the control, it feels very natural. You use one Wii-Mote and one Nunchuck together for it. You control Link's movement and targeting with the left hand and you use the right hand to move your fairy around with the motion sensor, and to supplement the left hand with looking around, that action button, and other functions. It's hard to explain without trying it yourself, but trust me, the controls are great.

You start out the game with your horse, Epona. You also get the option to name both Link and Epona when you start your file, although I'm not sure if this will have any effect other than what NPC's in the game call you. Sometimes games use naming for codes ("If you enter your name as ___, ___ will happen" type things) but somehow I doubt it for this game. Anyway, the controls for Epona are great too. Just like Ocarina of Time, you can press A to speed her up and jump over fences. She is very beautiful and detailed too. When you make turns, you can see Link pull in the reins. You use Epona for many minigames as well as just getting around. In the beginnig of the game, for example, you use her to herd goats into a shed. It's a lot of fun, and horseback riding is another feature I'm glad they brough back.

Also, don't worry if you saw Link with the weird goatherder outfit in all of the previews he does get his original outfit later on. The dungeons are AWESOME. It's rated Teen, but Zelda games have never included inappropriate content in my opinion. You do kill monsters, but there is no realistic blood or gore, or suggestive themes. The rating says "Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence". Trust me, it's fine for kids. The action is all "hero against evil" type action. This game is a total blast, and both new and old-school Zelda fans will love it. Even if you've never played a Zelda game, try this one it'll get you hooked.

Once again, Nintendo is able to give a stellar addition to the popular Legend of Zelda series. Despite the fact that the games usually contain the same three core characters (Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf), the games continue to be original. More importantly, though, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is engaging, challenging, and fun.

A few centuries after the events of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the descendents of Link and Zelda, who themselves are also named Link and Zelda (the various games in the series take place across various time periods, with the main characters being represented by ancestors and descendents, all of whom strangely share the same names). Link is a farmer in a southern province of Hyrule while Zelda is, as always, the princess of Hyrule. In an interesting move, the people that link lives with may not exactly be Hylians; Hylians, including Link and Zelda, have always been characterized by their pointed elf-like ears, but Link's fellow villagers have rounded ears that we have.

The first few tasks of the game have Link dealing with mundane tasks in order to learn the various controls for the game, which, for the Wii version, is extremely important. However, after being asked to bring a gift to the royal family, mysterious and shadowy beasts show up and enshroud the land in a mysterious twilight. Link is turned into a wolf while trying to fight the monsters, and is subsequently knocked out and jailed. While in jail, he meets Midna, who helps free Wolf-Link in exchange for help with a yet-to-be-revealed task.

From there, Link and Midna work as a team to rid the land of Hyrule of the strange twilight. The quest takes Link and Midna to previously seen locales of Hyrule such as Death Mountain (where Gorons live), Lake Hylia, Zora's River (home of the Zoras), and Gerudo Desert. New places include Snowpeak (home to one of the strangest dungeons I've encountered in a Zelda game) and Link's home of Ordon.

As the game goes on, Link's quest takes new turns and has events that are some of the most epic actions I've ever seen in a Zelda game. While Ocarina of Time was an epic tale overall of how Link, Ganondorf, and Zelda first crossed paths, there are moments in Twilight Princess that seem to be taken directly from The Lord of the Rings. The final battle of the game is also very well constructed and fun to engage in.

The Wii gameplay is amazing. Swinging the Wii Remote to swing Link's sword, pointing the Remote at the screen to aim the bow, and using it as a fishing rod truly bring the player into the game in ways the traditional control system could never attempt. It also allows for a much smoother form of horseback combat than that present in the N64 versions (though it was still difficult). If you have a Wii, I definitely reccomend this version over the Gamecube one (the only downside is a loss of continuity; since Link is usually left-handed, the programmers were afraid that right-handed people, who are the majority, would have trouble using the sword, so they flipped the game around; what this means is that Gerudo Desert is now in the East and Kakariko Village and Death Mountain are now in the West, though in the Hyrule in Ocarina of time, the desert was in the West and Kakariko and Death Mountain were in the East).

I have to say that the only thing that I would change about this game is the inclusion (or lack thereof) of magic. For some reason, even though magic exists, Link does not have a magic meter. Therefore, there are no spells or magic arrows (or green potions), and the Magic Armor, which makes Link invulnerable while wearing it) is powered by rupees, which can be very annoying. Still, aside from the complaint, this is an amazing game. The story is fantastic, the gameplay is top-notch, and the graphics are amazing. This game may not be as good as Ocarina of Time, but it is very, very close.

Honest reviews on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

With the Wii and the new controller, and Nintendo's new ideas about bringing in non-gamers, it's refreshing to see that Nintendo still wants to please the long-time gamers. People that have been fans of this classic franchise should do what they can to get a copy of this game. It proves that Nintendo still has the hardcore gamer in mind, and is still willing to put time and effort into games that will please us.

If you are new to gaming and the Wii is the first console you ever bought, you may find this title to be a pretty intense experience compared to Wii Sports. You may find it to be a little too much for you, though I suggest you give it a try eventually. If you're a hardcore gamer, and better yet a longtime Zelda fan, the game is everything you want.

As far as the Zelda experience goes, as in exploring caves and dungeons and towns and finding numrous items and weapons, Twilight Princess has it all. Lots of things from previous games have been improved upon. There are plenty more dungeons than Wind Waker, and now you can swing your sword while riding your horse, which you couldn't do in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

Much can be said about the story presentation in Twilight Princess. There's definitely been a lot of effort put into the story of Twilight Princess. The graphics are only at a GameCube level, but they look good. Some have reported that it is the darkest and most serious Zelda story made. Personally, I don't think it's that much darker and serious than Majora's Mask. A cloud of twilight overcoming Hyrule, a giant moon crashing into Termina, one does not seem more apocalyptic than the other.

I said the Zelda experience is great in Twilight Princess, but there are also elements to Twilight Princess that are new to the Zelda franchise. The wolf is one. For portions of the game you control Link as a wolf. While I prefer Link in his regular Hylian form, there are cool things about being a wolf. With wolf Link's sense of smell, you can locate and dig up items such as hearts and rupees in the ground. If you're low on either, become a wolf and do some sniffing. Combat is a little clumsy with the wolf, though. Link certainly has less power in his attacks as a wolf than as a Hylian, especially when you obtain more powerful weapons.

There's also the Wii remote control. The Wii remote is great with the projectile weapons and other such aiming devices, like the arrows and the clawshot. It's great to just point at the screen where you want to fire your arrows and take down an enemy. For sword slashing, you swing the remote like you would a sword. The sword controls are the weakest part of the game, as they could have been more immersive. You swing the remote to swing your sword. It doesn't matter how you swing the remote. Whether you swing it left, right, up, or down, Link will always swing in the same combinations. To make a stabbing motion with your sword, you hold forward on the nunchuck control while Z-targetting and swing the remote. You don't actually stab forward with the remote, which makes perfect sense to me, and, in fact, was what I was trying to do for a while. I wasn't expecting the sword control to be 1:1, but they could have made it a little more intuitive than it was. In the end, it would have been easier to just press a button to swing the sword.

The sword is my biggest complaint. A few other minor complaints include the lack of a magic meter and thus any magical attacks, the lack of Octoroks, one of the mainstays of the Zelda franchise, and the battle mechanics, which are kind of a step backward from Wind Waker. I might be in the minority with my opinion here, but Wind Waker's timed parries have been done away with, and I liked how the timing brought in an extra level of concentration. For Twilight Princess, all the parry moves from Wind Waker can be done manually, so long as you learn them. Some gamers may like that they can do those moves whenever they want, but personally I miss the concentration on timing that was involved. Also, in Twilight Princess you cannot pick up enemies' weapons, which was one of my favorite things about Wind Waker.

Overall, the things that make Zelda what it is are all here and in top form. There are plenty of dungeons, challenging puzzles, lots of items and weapons, cool boss fights, and a gigantic overworld to explore.

I also really like Midna. I wondered whether or not it was a good idea to bring a new character into the franchise. We all know how Navi and Tingle turned out, and I was afraid we were seeing the next Tingle in all those trailers. But you don't need to worry about Midna. She is a cool character, and I like the way she develops. She starts out as kind of a punk, who just seems to be using Link for her own purposes, but as the game goes on we see a softer side to her.

I subtract one star from the overall score because I am convinced the sword controls could have been much more immersive than they were, but I had a blast playing this game and it was just a straight run-through, without paying much attention to sidequests and minigames. It took me about forty hours to finish the main quest, so if you play this game totally, you'll have a lot of playing to do. Whether you get this Wii version or the GameCube version is up to you. You may just prefer pressing a button to randomly swinging the remote, but you may feel that the more precise aiming with the pointer makes the Wii version better. It's your choice. But I do recommend you get one or the other.

There are a lot of good aspects and a lot of bad aspects of this highly anticipated launch title for the Nintendo Wii. I'll start with the good and end with the bad and my reasons for only giving this game 4 stars.

The Good:

--The game is HUGE. Once, just for fun, I decided to walk Link at a relaxed gait from one end of the game to the other in order to see how long it would take. I gave up it took so long.

--I'm very glad that Nintendo decided to put a lot of creative energy into the art and look of the game, given the graphical limitations of the Wii. The game is absolutely gorgeous with creative characters and mysterious temples. It's worth it to waste an hour or two and just ride your horse around Hyrule and look at everything.

--Great cinema scenes.

--Wii remote works and is responsive, and really does enhance the experience. But....

The Bad:

--The way the player swings the remote has no bearing on what kind of swing Link does.

--Sword combat with the remote is too easy. It doesn't require a lot of skill. I would say any novice could pick up the remote, Z-lock onto an enemy, start shaking the remote back and forth and defeat a lot of the enemies in the game. After you whack some enemies, they just stand there and sway back and forth, waiting you to whack them some more.

--Along the same lines, bosses are too easy. Very fun and impressive, but too easy.

--Overall, the game feels like an Ocarina of Time on steroids. A lot of parallels to the N64 classic, like places, characters, weapons, dungeons (you have to use Iron Boots and walk at the bottom of a lake to get to the Water Temple again), etc. Some find these parallels nostalgic and cool, but I think they're kinda lame.

What would have made this game the classic that everyone was expecting? In my opinion, Nintendo should have coordinated the movements of the remote with Link's sword swings better--when I slash right, Link slashes right, when I tomahawk swing downward, Link does the same. Ocarina of Time revolutionized video game combat with its Z-Targeting system, and it would have been great if Twilight Princess had a similar breakthrough. Legend of Zelda sword combat has always been very precise, but with this new game, we're left waving the remote willy nilly back and forth, hoping to hit something. An even more immersive sword combat experience would have justified the hype and 5 stars for this game.

Conclusion:

Even though I've emphasized the negatives more than the positives in this review (I'm a pessimist), Twilight Princess is a great gaming experience. Every Wii and Gamecube owner should check it out.

Halo 2 is an excellent game, there's no doubt in that. The core of the game still remains the same as the original, making it almost impossible to take a step backwards. The thing to think about here is how have the changes and improvements affected this game over its predecessor.

For campaign mode the story is not quite as captivating as the original. In addition you need to have it on Heroic for any type of challenge. And, as many other reviews have said, the game is simply much shorter than the previous (the cut scenes graphically were a little dissapointing too). However, the game is really entertaining. The maps are much more detailed, there's more variance in the layout between checkpoints. They did a pretty good job in making the layout not as repetitive. Plus the scenery is pretty interactive and makes you do a lot more cool stuff to accomplish a mission.

Weapons as well have changed a lot. They have increased the types of weapons, as well as improving ones that used to suck (the needler) and taking away some power from the pistol. The much talked about dual weilding is defiantly a nice advantage. It takes a little getting used to know how to use it best and the best combinations of weapons. Although people have complained about the fact you can't throw grenades while using it, it's more realistic (you do only have two hands). So they've made it a powerful tool, but they didn't want it to be unstoppable. Basically it seems like they've leveled the playing field more and although you may be disappointed because something isn't as dominate as before or than you thought it would be, ultimately it's for the better.

Same thing goes for vehicles: you have more to choose from, with different advantages, but they also made each a little more vulnerable and less unstoppable (the rocket launcher lock helps tremendously from the last game).

The multiplayer part of course is amazing. Looking past some minor faults (not all maps are good, the energy sword is too dominate here, etc.) this part really makes the game a cut above anything else.

The limited edition version here only really provides an extra DVD with the making of (which is interesting but not really necessary... you could easily have a friend tell you the stuff on there that's worth knowing). Besides that and the metal case, it's the same. It's really up to you weather $10-15 bucks difference is that big of a deal for you, cause it's not that big of a difference.

Bottom line: Halo 2 is a great game. It's definitely a lot of fun and very enjoyable. It's a little disappointing because the original Halo was such a huge difference from anything out there and I think everyone was expecting Halo 2 to do the same. Unfortunately, it didn't make any drastic leaps that leave you stunned, but maybe (besides living up to the hype) it didn't really need to be. What it did do was make a lot of tweaks, to try and improve on something that was already incredible. You have to praise Bungie for trying their best to please everyone. In the end the hype may have been too much, but don't let it deter you from enjoying this great game.

I loved the first Halo. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Halo 2 but I have kind of felt in the back of my head that there is no way that Halo 2 can meet the hype. Well I got the game yesterday and I have been very happy with it.

Pros:

1. I love that you can hop on an enemy vehicle when the they go by, punch them and throw them off. On the covenant "Wraith" you even have to punch through the top to pull them out, or throw a grenade in. I found that to be excellent attention to detail. You can operate more vehicles and there are more options when you do.

2. The Plot is very good, and you really want to watch the video in between levels.

3. The graphics are surprisingly much better than the first Halo. The videos are amazing and the actual game graphics have great detail. (In the Multiplayer mode there is a new "Blood Gulch" level. If you compare the graphics there is no comparison.)

4. The plot runs side by side, with an enemy covenant who is punished for loosing the battle (in Halo), and Halo blowing up. On some levels you play as the enemy covenant. (You can even be him in multiplayer mode.

Cons:

1. The game is a little too easy. I would recommend not doing it on "easy" or "normal" if you want a real challenge. You have a new shield that seems a little stronger and recharges a little faster. It is cool, but having previous skill from the original Halo, it seems easier than the first one.

2. You can't be black in the multiplayer mode. Not a big deal, but I always liked have my profiled character be very dark.

That is it. The game is a lot of fun! And it has renewed my excitement level for Halo. I think it is important to understand that the game is Halo, with new levels and a few new details. If you loved Halo you will love Halo 2.

P.S. There are a lot of reviews on Halo 2 from before the game was even released, so I realize nobody is going to read this, but the game was so exciting I felt a need to give it 5 stars.

Best Deals for Halo 2 Limited Edition

I just have to preface by saying that I feel bad for all the people who ordered from amazon who are apparently getting screwed. However, thats not what these review spaces are for. On to my review of the game:

Graphics---9.5/10

Far and away the best graphics of any xbox First Person Shooter, its kinda dissapointing that the in-engine cutscenes look so rushed. The cutscenes are usually a little choppy with a little bit og pop-in. When I first read this in reviews I didnt want to believe it, but its true.

Audio---10/10

The original Halo had great voice acting, great sound effects, and the best music and musical timing of any game EVER at the time. Halo 2 has the best voice acting, the best sound effects, and the best music and musical timing EVER in a console game. Listening to this game is an experience.

Gameplay---10/10

There are really 3 main gameplay additions-

-duel wieldingability to hold two weapons at once

-swordsability to fight with swords

-hijackingability to steal a vehicle from an opponent while they are riding on it.

Each new feature adds another element to the game. However, the most important gameplay change is speed: The action is much faster in halo 2. You run faster, you jump higher, your weapons do more damage, and the change in how health and shields works means that you're never camping in a corner for extended periods of time. For me, this is awesome, because I come from PC games where the action is typically very fast, and I always complained about how slow you moved and how long it could take to kill someone in the original halo. The ghost, banshee, warthog, and tank are all slower than they were in the previous game, or maybe they just seem slower compared to your new, faster running ability. In any case, it evens the playing field between people on foot and in vehicles.

Single Player---9.5/10

The game itself on normal difficulty isnt particularly long or hard. The awesome music, great gameplay, and great storyline all bring it together to make a great experience. Like the original halo, the best features for the SP game are the diferent difficulty levels and the co-operative play. Even tho playing through the game on normal difficulty isnt a trying experience, YOU ARE going to want to go back and play through it again on hard or legendary difficulty levels. Also, playing through the game with a friend is awesome. However, there are some dissapointments. Firstly, the save system is inflexible.

You only have one slave slot that maintains your exact position in a level, and if you want to go back and play a different level or play some co-op, you lose that save slot and have to start the level you were on from the beginning. Also, forget about 2 people who are sharing the xbox going through the campaign at the same time for the same reason. Secondly, Bungie decided not to include system link or XBOX Live co-op. That really stinks. Its great fun to play co-op as it is, sharing the screen, buts its really cramped, and would be much more fun if both people could have their own screen. Also, being able to play with a friend at seperate houses, maybe across the country, would have been nice.

Multiplayer---10/10

Simply putamazing. More levels, many more features, plus Xbox Live and even some new features that arent available in other games. My favorite is the "party" system, which allows you to get together with some friends and travel between games as a group. Its unfortunate, but there usually is some lag on the bigger games. Lag seems to be the plague of XBL, and they just cant get rid of it. Oh well, theres always LAN parties, which are always lag-free.

Overall Score---9.8/10

Honest reviews on Halo 2 Limited Edition

OK OK I'm a 42 year old mom with a great 11 year old son.I admit

I'm a Halo junkie.

When Halo first came out, I played with my son and was hooked. How many times have we played Halo? About 15-20 times altogether.

How many times will we play Halo 2? 15-20 on heroic and legendary alone.

I read the review and he was dead on about alot of stuff, but I disagree with the cons regarding the suit. I think it makes the experience more realistic.

The creators at Bungie did a wonderful thing. Creating a universally appealing story that combines myth, a great spiritual quest to be part of and is bigger than yourself, soul renching music and a peek into the male swaggering military humor we women now have the rare priviledge to enjoy (HOO RAH)...uuummm...and really cool weapons (Scorpion tank is my fav).

The fact that they balance the story by giving the Covenant a face to provide insight and depth for the gamer, goes a long way to promote a richness and compassion any good classic provides....did I mention the weapons? OH...OK...I did...

Single moms everywhere...rent or buy this game...get into sweats on a Friday or Saturday night, serve munchies you have to eat with your hands and soda to help you burp out loud...and have the fun of being a guy with your son for the next 6-8 hours. This game is worth giving up that Friday or Saturday night date for

My god this game was crazy. I got it the Monday after it came out, and I haven't stopped playing it since. It's definitely an improvement on the first, and the first is STILL one of the best First Person Shooters out there. There are very few things I disliked about the game, and them so minor that I didn't even notice them until after I was done playing for the day. I'm gonna seperate this for everyone, just to make things easier to read...

Overall:

Sweetness. Pure sweetness. The new weapons are some of the coolest weapons I have ever seen. The plasma sword is the ultimate of melee weapons, and is so fun to use. Walk up to someone... Whack! And it's all over. Then the SMGs are just fun as anything. One gun spits out 60 bullets in less than 4 seconds. And dual weilded thats 120 bullets in your enemies face before they can even see whats shooting at them. The physics are more realistic than the first, and probably any game I've ever seen. The SMGs recoil keeps making you adjust for them, the Battle Rifle reacts exactly like a real rifle would, trust me, I've shot many of them. The one thing that probably impressed me most was that the Warthog respond EXACTLY like a real car would while it was spinning, or flipping, etc. Every time one wheel touched the gound, the spin would change accordingly. You could pull out of what would normally cause you to fall out by controlling the wheels right while flipping. That just impressed me a lot. Being able to drive the Wraith now, and having the new Covenant Spectre are just two bonuses. Having four people riding in a Spectre, one driving, on on gun, and two riding on the side, those two people with a rocket and a shotgun, while assaulting Blue base in the middle of a 16 player CTF game was probably the best time I've had in any multiplayer game. And the graphics are beyond anything I've ever seen. Destructible environments, boarding vehicles (REALLY fun if done right) are just awesome additions. Overall, this game is awesome.

Campaign:

The storyline is awesome. And the cliffhanger at the end made it a perfect set up for the next Halo. I'm not gonna reveal any more about that for everyone who hasn't played the game yet. Anyway, it's a 15 level campaign, even if its more like 13 levels, because the first two aren't really levels, more like tutorials... But from the start of the third level the action begins. The Covenant fleet finally arrives, and they're boarding your station. while playing, you can interact with your allies more than ever. You're able to swap weapons with them, giving them your rocket launcher, or plasma sword. But it's realisticyou can't give a grunt a plasma sword, or a rocket launcher. The enemy AI is some of the best I've seen, moving at the right times, taking cover, giving out orders to eachother. And the chatter between people during battles is a very nice addition. You'll hear them screaming out warnings and insulting the Elites right to their faces. And the levels aren't repetitive AT ALL. You'll encounter the same things once or twice, like a barge, but it's a different situation, with different people and different guns. And its not near enough to have a repetitive feel. And co-op is fun as anything. During Co-op there are more enemies, and more vehicles, all suited to match the extra player in the game. The campaign mode is one of, if not the, best I've ever seen.

Multiplayer:

Wow. This just blew me away when I saw it. The levels are extremely detailed, and you can set up traps for the other team. You can roll and explosive barrel in front of a door, and when an enemy walks through it just blow it up, damaging or killing him. Or you can push that same barrel off a ledge onto an enemies head as he walks by. The vehicles have weak spots that make them all fairly even to use. And the levels themselves... Wow (again). They are never exactly alike, one base to the next. But they are always very fair, or built to suit the map. On Zanzibar, one team attacks from the beaches, while the other defends a base. We had some really cool D-day simulations on that. And with four teams going its a real deathmatch. We had a 4v4v4v4 slayer match going, and it was like having small squads working together. Two teams would gang up against one, then procede to destroy eachother. And on FFA slayer, one person can get into the side seat of another's warthog, even if they're on seperate teams. And once in there he can help the person, or turn to the side and whack the heck out of the driver. And boarding your friend's vehicle, then proceding to run him over with it, is one of the funnest things I've ever done.

This game is DEFINITELY worth your time buying. It's the best FPS game EVER to come out, and it probably won't be topped for a while.

Is it a yeti or an ice man? No its the fierce yeti of the water element, Slam Bam. Despite not being a giant, Slam Bam is one power house with his four arms. He'll devastate anything in his way. This is one must have skylander in your collection. His upgrades paths; his brawler fighter path, and his ice prison path. Both are very good but when you get to his soul gem, you need to find it in Empire of Ice which in this single character pack, does not come with. So you have to buy another Slam Bam with his adventure pack. Overall, you would still be pleased with him throughout the game. I hoped you liked my review. Leave any comments or questions about Skylanders Giants. :-)

Best Pioneer HTS-GS1 5.1-Channel Surround Sound System for the Xbox 360 Deals

Pioneer HTS-GS1 5.1-Channel Surround Sound System for the Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
I shopped and priced around extensively, and the Pioneer HTIB system was the clear choice to add on to my Xbox 360. First, and foremost, this is a well designed "compact" home theater system that goes very well with a 360. It's color scheme blends right in with the Microsoft game sytem. Pioneer got all the details right, even down to the XBOX-like "univeral" remote control.

The nearest competitor to Pioneer's HTS-GS1 is the Spherex 51000 HTIB 5.1 Channel surround system, also license by Microsoft specifically for the Xbox 360. In a head to head comparison, to me, the Pioneer integrates best, mainly because it "looks" like it belongs with the Xbox and also has more user friendly system controls and by far is more flexible to set up whether used with the Xbox or not. I cannot comment on differences in terms of purely audio performance, but the Spherex is only rated for 300 watts total output. The latter may not be a fair comparison read on for more on this.

These two systems are currently selling in retail stores close to the same price point (around $200). Since there introduction, both have been deeply discounted from original list price of $499. Overall, I feel the HTS-GS1 offers the most bang for the buck.

The surround speakers are uniquely and cleverly designed. The front and rear speaker are actually "stackable" which allows a front surround stage 5 channel sound speaker placement arrangement. This stacking feature is not possible on Spherex system with its omni surround satellite speakers which must have free air space above each speaker to work properly.

Front speaker stacking is an extremely useful feature for the non-purist audiophile. It lends itself to a much faster and simpler system set up, eliminating need for long(er) hard to disguise routing of speaker wires to the back of your listening room area. However, this diminishes the full effectiveness of a surround sound system, yet in the case of the HS-GS1, I did not find it overly detracting from the system's "virtual" surround or front-only sound stage experience. Furthermore, I appreciate having a CHOICE in satellite speaker placement and opted to go this route for obvious advantages offered in eliminating the hassle of locating and mounting separate rear speakers and wiring complications.

The surround sound "effects" are still quite evident in this front only arrangement, because the unique stackable left and right double decker speakers can be rotated independently rotated to aim them in different dirrections. This design does an adequate job of simulating a four corner surround sound, if not fully "immersive" listening experience.

I may eventually take the additional time to separate and relocate the rear satellite speaker to the back of my listening area. Pioneer provides plenty of speaker wire for that purpose if so desired. But for now, I am enjoying the system in the front surround mode only, and saved at least another couple of hours of tedious installation work routing the rear speaker wires far away from the audio amplifier (subwoofer) origination connections.

One thing that the average consumer should know is that most comparable HTIB systems are "hyped" in terms of their true (

If you've ever bought a headset in this price range before, the first thing you're going to notice is that these have awesome build quality compared to them. Really nice plastic, very comfortable to wear. I got these for my little brother, and he was like, "WOW, these are nice!" when I handed them to him this afternoon. Sennheiser doesn't gimp out on sound quality here either, so you're going to be able to hear how bad everyone else's microphones are, and they're going to ask you for advice on the next set they should buy Let's just put it that way! ;) Basically, quality goes down through VOIP to begin with, but it'll be less of an issue with these.

And while they're not wireless, the big thing to notice here is that Sennheiser has included their usual 2-year warranty on these too, so that leads me to ask... Why would you want to buy the $50-100 wireless headset that will drive you nuts with rechargeable AA batteries every week, that has bad signal, and will break a month after the 1-year warranty expires? There's not a resale market for them, especially when Xbox One is around the corner and will bring new options, nor do a majority of them handle wear and tear, they just break.

Trust me on this one, because I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones (Black) and they're over a year old now and still sound as good as the day I bought them. These will most likely outlive their usage AND our Xbox 360.

I used to use a Bose headset for the iphone with an adapter but I lost the adapter so I bought this thinking it would suck, but would be better than nothing.

Well I was soooo wrong! This thing is great! I can turn my sound system way higher than I could with the Bose mic and the mic still doesn't pick it up! Plus people comment on how much clearer I sound.

Totally worth it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I haven't used any Sennheiser products before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I am pleasantly surprised. It is very comfortable, can't complain after wearing it for a few hours. The sound is extremely crisp, clear and loud. I didn't have a single problem with the microphone picking up my voice at any level.

Concerns:

I do want to point out that this is for a left ear only. I usually use a small blue tooth headset that can sit in either earafter a few hours I like to readjust. Not a possibility with this one, if that concerns anyone else, you may want to choose another headset. Also, the jack that plugs in is a little weak. After a few weeks of using it, if I play with the jack too much or plug it in and take it out a couple timesit makes the speaker crackle a bit.

Other than that, this is a decent headset. It is much better than the stock xbox 360 headset that comes with the system. I wouldn't purposely upgrade to this headset, but I would replace the stock headset with this one if it broke. I'm going to keep using this one until it wears out completely on me.

Honest reviews on Sennheiser X2 Xbox Headset

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm very impressed with this headset and I'm a bit of a headset snob. It fits very comfortably without being too tight. The sound comes through loudly, nice and clear, and the microphone picks up your voice very crisply, over a dynamic range of loudness (whispering to very loud). The foam on the earpiece is high quality, padded, and very comfortable. The mid-cord "puck" for muting the microphone is solidly built, and the mute switch slides on and off firmly, but without too much effort.

My only complaint about this headset is that, as the picture shows, it's left-eared only, so if you are hearing impaired in your left ear or for some other reason unable to wear a headset on your left ear, you should pick a different headset.

Men of War is the third in a series of poorly-named WW2 real-time tactics games, following Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 and Faces of War. I say "tactics" rather than "strategy" because this is more of a sub-genre of games where you don't manage bases or worry much about resources; rather, the focus is on in-depth tactics and keeping your men alive while killing the enemy. I played Soldiers (the first game in this series) and found there to be a number of problems that kept me from enjoying it, particularly the finicky control scheme, horrible user interface, and gruesome difficulty that was more frustrating than gratifying. This time around, however, Best Way has got it right.

The main difference between this game and other WW2 strategy games such as, say, Company of Heroes, is that this is is an organic battlefield; it doesn't feel static, but dynamic. Every one of your soldiers has their own inventory, can sneak, or can be placed under AI auto-movement in order to cut down on your micromanaging. The game has both massive clashes with hundreds of soldiers, tanks, artillery howitzers, and special ops units, and stealthy night-mission commando raids where you surgically cut into your opposition.

To illustrate, one of my favorite missions begins with you sneaking four Russian commandos around behind German lines, placing bombs on guns and sweeping minefields. There are more guns than can be destroyed, so you have to think ahead and decide which guns, whether machinegun nests, mortars, howitzers, or anti-tank cannons, must be destroyed for the battle that will follow when the sun rises. When you're ready, the next morning's battle begins as you charge infantry across trenches, battle with tanks, and perform precision bombing runs. The mission continues as you fight through mountains, mined roads, and finally a German base; and it's totally up to you the player how to accomplish your goal.

There are some very rough edges, but they can be forgiven when you realize how fun the game is. The voice acting is the worst I have ever heard in my life (with the exception of one voice actor out of around twenty), the difficulty is pretty rough at first (though you can slow down the action to about one-third speed, which helps in single player), and there are a few unit animations that are shoddy, but overall this game has become my most-played in the last year. I would recommend this to anyone who likes RTS games, and even to many who don't.

After reading a number of reviews that compared Men of War (MoW) to Company of Heroes (CoH), I bought this game with the mindset that it would involve much more realistic military strategy. I can say it most certainly does, but at a heavy price: fun.

If Company of Heroes is like playing a game of checkers, Men of War is a game of chess.

I've played my share of real-time strategy games, but to say MoW is 'for experts' and requires a 'lengthy learning curve' would be an understatement. To my dismay, there was no interactive tutorial mission. The instruction manual does not get into much detail, other than what each command does.

The concepts of the commands are not complicated, but there are a lot of them. A few of the commands I simply could not imagine using in a strategy game; like holster weapon, or melee attack. They may as well add 'Throw rocks'. Learning how and when to use each command effectively is much more involved compared to most RTS games. It'll take you a lot of time to figure out what the heck you're doing, before you can focus on any serious strategy.

While there is no building or resource management in MoW, the micro-management of your individual infantry and vehicles makes this game much more complicated than most. This drags the game play down to an absurdly slow crawl.

Some elements of micro-management I could appreciate. For example, controlling the stance of your infantry (e.g. standing, kneeling, prone) to affect their aim and protection is useful. And ordering soldiers to repair tread damage on your immobilized tank is much more realistic than 'zapping it' back to health with a magic wrench.

Other elements I found to be excessive. In the first mission, my one and only tank had to be repaired twice. That's fine. But near the end of the mission, my tank stopped dead. What could be wrong? Out of gas.. Worse yet, I could not locate a gas can anywhere. So my troops couldn't siphon fuel to refill the tank. This is called a 'realistic annoyance'. I'm sorry, but I'm not looking for a level of realism where my tank runs out of gas and my soldiers have to get out and walk. (Sadly, there is no 'Get out and push' command. My tank was abandoned.)

As far as the details of the game itself, the sound effects are mediocre, though the voice acting is okay. While many reviewers have praised the graphics, I maxed out all the settings and still found them to be very plain. Being able to crash a tank through the house two enemy soldiers are hiding behind should be fun, but the animations just aren't very exciting. Like its slower pace of game play, MoW lags behind CoH for graphics and sound.

This game is much slower and more detail-oriented than other RTS games, like CoH or World In Conflict. The emphasis is on thinking, not reacting, so be prepared to sacrifice excitement for realism. If you typically play first person shooters or fast-paced RTS games (e.g. Call of Duty, Command & Conquer), you'll want to steer clear of MoW.

If you're prepared to account for every element involved in deciding, planning, executing, and adjusting a battle plan on the field of combat (from sharing ammunition between soldiers, to planting bushes to camouflage your artillery) then this is the game for you. Patience is required.

Best Deals for Men of War - PC

As others have noted, this game has a few rough edges. However, it is the most engaging real time tactical game that I've ever played; indeed, in my opinion it is the most enjoyable tactical game to hit the PC since the original X-COM came out in 1994.

Men of War puts you in the shoes of Russian, American and German forces during the height of World War II. You may be thinking, based on this, that it's just another Company of Heroes ("CoH") clone. It is not. The focus, pace and structure of the two games are hugely different. While CoH is a real time strategy game with limited base building and unit recruitment, Men of War gives you some soldiers, and perhaps some heavy weapons and vehicles, and that's basically it everything else in the mission you will have to find on the battlefield. Your men can drive every vehicle they find on the field, can use trucks to pull artillery weapons, can load either high explosive or armor piercing shells into the heavy guns. Tanks can drive through buildings and walls.

The detail here is incredible. From the realistic physics (the angle of impact an armor piercing shell hits a tank, and where it hits the tank, make a big difference, for example) to the fact that each and every soldier has his own inventory and weapon proficiencies, there's a lot to fiddle with, which is great. A lot of times, you will control only a small front in a much larger battle. I haven't ever seen such a large scale simulation of battle in a game of this type before.

Two other fantastic features are "direct control" you can take direct control of each unit in the game (enormous fun with tanks) and multiplayer coop, enabling you to play through the campaigns with your buddies online.

I could go on, but I won't. For the discerning strategy gamer, Men of War is a must buy. It's not for everybody I have read some complaints from those expecting another CoH; there is almost an overwhelming amount to manage, and the game can be very difficult but what the game does, it does extraordinarily well. I think it's a modern classic.

Honest reviews on Men of War - PC

Having played Soldiers: Heroes of WWII I kind of knew what to expect.

On the plus side, it's the same as it's predecessor where you strategically move your soldiers across the field and manage yor resources.

As it's been said, there is a whole lot of micromanaging as you can scavenge almost anything off of the battle field.

It's a lot of fun if you have the time to dedicate to even just one mission which could take almost an hr or more to complete.

My only complaints are that along with that micromanaging you have to know sometimes to click off of one unit before you move to another. ANother gripe is that Sometimes your objective comes a bit muddled and you may not know where to go or exactly where to set up and sometimes you may not have enough time to set your soldiers before you are attacked (but to be fair, this is war after all). This isn't a build and rush game like Company of Heroes. You may sometimes find yourself overwhelmingly outmatched and that in itself is the beuty of the game...outwitting the AI...which plays a mean game of kill the soldiers!

My biggest gripe overall is that for a new game, it has some very dated graphics and lacks a lot of detail and I am running this game with an overclocked video card and I thought it would have stood up to Company of Heroes in that department. Again to its credit, there are plenty of things to destroy in this game and the back ground is rarely ever static and yes, the voices are very cheesy

I bought this game digitally on a impulse buy because there was a half off sale... if i had knew the amount of fun that was in store i would have paid full price immediately!

It is different from regular Stradegy games, much more difficult in my opinion, but you can read about the specifics in other reviews, my point is simply that i was surprised by it. hard to get a hold of it at first, but once you play it for a couple hours it is great fun.

the multiplayer is kinda retarded, you need a gamespy account, and i hate gamespy...

but the lan play with friends is fun and adds a new competition to the gameplay.

my major complaint is the lack of a skimish mode or random situation genorator. after playing through the campaigns 10 times I could go for a random battle here or there with simple blowing up of enemies :)

all in all its a great game and would highly recommend it to a WWII game lover like me!
