First of all, I've had this game on pre-order since mid-year. The N64 version constituted my childhood. This was the first person shooter that we came home from school on Friday's just waiting to play. This was the all night pizza party/sleep over game. This was grade school bliss. To this day as a college grad we still sit down once every other month or so to play N64 Goldeneye. I couldn't WAIT for this game to be out on Xbox 360 and re-live the glory in high def.

So last night I unboxed Goldeneye, ordered pizza, had my friends over and we all anticipated reliving our favorite N64 game with new gameplay and hi def graphics.

The game started with no familiar intro or music. The menus we're re-done of course and looked good. Mounting excitement led to our first round of disappointment when multiplayer asked us to 'pick our class.' Huh? Goldeneye is supposed to have multiplayer weapons sets for the whole team, not individual classes! Where are grenade launchers or proximity mines, pistols or power weapons?!

Next we noticed that there were no 'game modes' like 'you only live twice' or 'license to kill.' So we thought 'ok, we'll do it manually.' But you can't even handicap your health down to 0 for a license to kill effect. So there's no old school game modes or even a way to re-create them!

So okay, no weapons we like and no game modes. But at least there's the characters right? It's GOLDENEYE afterall! SO we each have always played the same character. Odjob, Travelyen, Zenia, and Helicopter Pilot. Of the above, Odjob is the only one still existent. No Travelyan in GOLDENEYE?! How? He's in the movie!

And the final multiplayer nail in the coffin was the maps. Only one or two maps were the same. Facility was one of our favorite old ones and was in the new version. So we chose that map and our new character, weapon sets, and game mode (at least the map will be the same, right?). WRONG! The map isn't facility at all. It's a square room with ramps everywhere and two glowing plasma tanks in the center of the room. No thought, no effort, not even close to the Goldeneye story line or the N64 game. Terrible, lame, boring map.

So I'm already saying I'm going to sell this game....but wait. There's single player. Maybe that will be better.

I switch to single player while my friends watch to see if the game has a saving grace. The game starts with a tutorial level that you can't skip. Boring, lame, and unecessary. Then it progresses into the Dam level. Ok, good, so the level order is at least the same. But then the level starts and you're playing with an AI travelyan. He's guiding you and telling you what to do! What the hell? Thats not how it's supposed to be. The game play continued to deviate from the original and get worse as I played.

I'm so disgusted with this game that I feel bad even re-selling it. I've had it open less than 4 hours and I've already got it posted to sell. Shameful to use the Goldeneye franchise name on a featureless first person shooter. Stick to Battlefiled 3 and COD MW3 for your kicks this holiday season. Fail

I was super-psyched about this game since it was announced. Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64 was my bread and butter when I was a kid. I knew that this "remake" was going to be quite a bit different, but I welcomed that.

When I started playing, I quickly realized how much the game plays like Call of Duty. That's a good thing. Unfortunately, it's not enough like Call of Duty.

First of all, Bond's hand looks very smooth and cartoon-ish obviously a remnant from the Wii conversion. The graphics are decent in general, but it seems like they could have spent a little more time on making something that's always on the screen better.

The campaign mode was pretty fun, albeit redundant. The stealth portions are a blast, but the rest is pretty formulaic: Enter room, tons of guys come out, kill them, proceed to next room, repeat.

My biggest gripe with the game is that it seems that enemies can shoot you through walls. Time after time, I'd duck behind cover only to continue being shot to death.

The multiplayer the best part of the original is a letdown. I had trouble getting a game together, probably due in part to the overabundance of game modes. If you're expecting N64 multiplayer on Xbox Live, think again. When I did get a game, it really wasn't much fun.

My recommendation: Rent the game, play through the campaign, then return it. If you want N64 nostalgia/multiplayer, download Perfect Dark from XBLA. It's what this game should have been.

Best Deals for GoldenEye 007: Reloaded

I'm an old school gamer who has dreamt of a truly updated N64 Goldeneye 007 for years. I think the key point in understanding why this will never be is licensing issues. The Bond license was briefly awarded to Rare when Goldeneye originally came out. With that game's tremendous success, EA took over (or out-bid) Rare for the license. They then proceeded to milk the franchise, releasing several crappy to mediocre games in the years following Goldeneye. EA got rid of the license once the tit was dry, and in stepped equally abysmal "video-games-equal-cash" mega-corporation Activision. Board meetings took place and executives who have never gamed in their lives came up with a new way of taking your hard earned greenbacks. By "re-releasing" a new, "super-awesome" game with Goldeneye pasted on the cover, Activision had found a way of re-invigorating the dead franchise. By playing on our fond memories of former greatness, they tried to find a way back into our wallets. The only problem is that they don't care one bit about producing a quality product or doing the original justice. It's only about making money. By buying into the hype, by biting off on what you hope this is going to be, you are playing the fool. The only thing (and the best thing) you can do is NOT buy these crappy Bond games in hopes that Activision will sell off the license. Maybe it's devalued so much by now that Rare could pick it up again. And then we would be in gaming heaven.

Honest reviews on GoldenEye 007: Reloaded

Let me preface this by saying that while I own a Xbox 360, I am not a gamer. My stash of games consists the Lego games and Orange Box. I once (a long time ago) played Max Payne on the PC the whole way through. But after renting Reloaded from RedBox two weekends in a row, Amazon's lightening deal ($25 off)convinced me to buy it. If you like James Bond, Mission Impossible, and the Bourne trilogy movies....you'll be entertained by this game. A great soundtrack, great graphics, and it makes me feel like I am actually SKILLED at playing a video game. I'm looking forward to getting through the game at different skill levels as well as taking the M16 challenges. Personally, I appreciate that there are no zombies, aliens or spaceships, and that most of the game takes place in broad daylight in recognizable surroundings. I also appreciate that when an enemy expires, they simply evaporate and that there is not a lot of blood and hoopla. In fact, the only blood you see is when you get "killed in action". And I have experienced that a lot. So why am I giving this 5 stars? Because of it's ability to keep even a non-gamer captivated and entertained. I'd have to say it is a lot of fun.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this game simply because it seemed to be but a simple port from the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox 360. For some, that may still be the case. However, GoldenEye Reloaded is undeniably the best Bond game that Activision has produced. Activision's previous installments to the Bond franchise (Quantum of Solace and Blood Stone) weren't deserving of the James Bond title, simply because they were just Call of Duty games with an espionage spy theme. GoldenEye Reloaded shares similarities to the Call of Duty games, (game engine, some aspects of gameplay, and multiplayer) but there's more of a Bond sensation than the previous games.

While most believe that GoldenEye Reloaded is a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 video game, GoldenEye 007, it is not. Instead, GoldenEye Reloaded aims to be a reimagining of the classic gaming success, featuring Daniel Craig, the current portrayal of 007, and modernized locations, weapons, and the overall feel. From the start of the game in the Arkhangelsk dam, to the classic Archives and tank chase, to the Nigerian jungles (previously Cuba), the game is more reminiscent of the original game than it's Nintendo Wii counterpart.

You would be foolish to judge the game without playing it for yourself, especially considering the biased and often times inaccurate reviews from angry gamers and Call of Duty fanboys. The graphics are nothing shy of excellent, especially from Activision. If you're expecting graphics similar to Uncharted or Heavy Rain, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. However, take it with a grain of salt and it's guaranteed you will appreciate the beauty of the visuals if you avoid comparing it to more advanced gaming experiences.

The gameplay is very reminiscent of the Call of Duty games, mainly because of the modernized methods of first-person shooters; the ability to aim down the sights of your guns, customize your loadout in multiplayer, the points and ranking system, and even the style of the single player campaign very much give weight to the fact that Activision just doesn't wish to stray from the style of Call of Duty when making games of the same genre. It doesn't say much positive things for the company, considering that James Bond has never been a Call of Duty style gaming experience, and thus shouldn't be treated as so, even in this day and age. However, this does not take away from the overall enjoyment that GoldenEye Reloaded will bring.

I very much appreciate the game for what it is, and as a casual gamer, I find it a fantastic experience. As a James Bond fan, I'm mildly disappointed that Activision couldn't appoint it the proper respect it deserves and stray from the Call of Duty style. I say give the game a go for yourself before judging it. Whether you're a casual gamer or a James Bond fan, GoldenEye Reloaded is an experience not to be missed.

The screwdriver they include with this is GREAT! It's magnetic so the screws stick to it as you remove them which helps keep you from losing them like I ended up doing anyways. I had some trouble with the triggers but a quick youtube video straightened that out. WATCH OUT FOR THE SPRINGS IN THE TRIGGERS! All together the pieces didn't line up perfect until I got all the screws back in. Once I got all 7 scres back in it fit like a glove. One trigger is sticking just a little but I think a couple rounds of Halo will sort it out. It looks amazing and feels just as good. The sticking doesn't effect my playing whatsoever it's that light. Overall this is a GREAT deal for this price and spruced up my old black controller. I love it!

The sound quality this product provides is clear and outstanding! Even though it is not wireless, the long cord length makes up for it. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Works great with PS3! Does not work with PS4. Great sound and others hear me loud and clear. Would have been 5 stars if not for the fact the huge headsets look rediculous on my head. I'm gauranteed to get a few laughs when I have them on.

Best Deals for Gioteck EX05 Multi-format Headset for PS3, Xbox 360,PC, & Mac

I wish I had the experience other reviewers did with this headset. I get no audio, period.....well except when I do the mic setting I can hear myself but as soon as I leave that screen, silence. Hooked it up, set it up, checked and double checked to make sure volume was on and it was switched to the right system and got nothing coming back at all. They are comfortable, and warm, so I'll probably use them to keep my ears warm this winter, you know, since they don't do anything else.

Honest reviews on Gioteck EX05 Multi-format Headset for PS3, Xbox 360,PC, & Mac

I wanted a cheap headset that would work with Xbox 360 and PS3. I tried these for a couple of hours and they were pretty comfortable. I like the unique headband. Sort of an Aeron chair for the head. The headset is very light, without feeling very fragile.

I haven't had a chance to test the chat functioning. When switched to Xbox, there is a detachable 2.5mm cord that plugs into the controller. When switched to PS3, the chat should be routed through the USB.

The amplifier isn't very loud. I could hear everything, but it had to be turned almost all the way up. I don't want to make my ears bleed, but a little more power would've been preferable.

The amplifier/control box is hardwired. The problem is that these won't work as passive headphones. Hooked up to a stereo headphone jack, almost none of the sound came through. Being able to unplug from the box would have made these more versatile.

I got this a couple days ago because I wanted a headset and didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. I paid $27 for a used like new one with shipping included. The headset that i got is pretty stretched out, so it's not very tight on my head. I hope that's just because i bought it used, but if it's not, then that's only bad thing about it besides the incredibly long cords, but that could be a good thing for some people. It has great sound quality and you can hear things very clearly, but it doesn't isolate sound outside of the headset very well. Overall, it's a very good headset with more pros than cons, and definitely well worth the money.

I loved that it was laid out like an Xbox 360 controller as I prefer that controller to the PS3 controller. Unfortunately, this is not a well-made controller. The analog sticks are inaccurate, making it hard to aim precisely in FPS games. The buttons aren't very sensitive either and take very firm presses to register.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This controller is a replica of the Xbox 360 controller, for PS3 use. I bought it as an alternative to the PS3 controller and it worked great as long as it worked! Its been 10 months and the battery charge last no longer than 4 hours while using it and if you charge it and store it, its dead after one week of no use. So this controller wil work great while it lasts, but been forewarned that it doesn't last very long. I purchase my the controler in March 2012 and its almost non useable as of January 2013, due to the crappy battery.

Best Deals for Nyko Raven Wireless Controller for PS3 (Xbox 360 Orientation)

The Good: Great ergonomics, all OEM controller features are present, sleek design, long battery life, hassle free battery status indicator

The Bad: L1 and R1 buttons are too close together, A-B switch feels useless, no bluetooth functionality

I saw this little guy on a shelf at Fry's one day and it looked very sleek and ergonomic. I was surprised at seeing something so well made from a third party peripheral company like Nyko that is notorious for making crappy products. I love collecting controllers, so I kept this guy on my radar. I finally got it as a Christmas gift and I am very pleased, and has become my favorite PS3 controller thus far. When you put the thing in your hands your fingers just mold to the controller. It is more square shape than rectangle like the OEM controller. The texture of the controller feels great and is a very silky smooth rubber. The triggers are designed more like the Xbox 360 controller's and are much better than the OEM controller which I found my fingers slipping on a lot. The controller is slightly heavier than the OEM one, but it just feels so much nicer. The analog stick orientation is set up like the Xbox 360 so your thumbs don't bump into each other during frantic movement. The sticks are much smaller and the tops have a pretty deep dip so your thumbs stay nice and snug. I love how tight the sticks are, not too tight, but not as loose as the OEM controller. They click very nicely and the D-pad is small and gives great response when using it.

The overall look of the controller is great. It is all black and sleek with the PS Home button being a large square in the middle with a picture of a raven. The face buttons are clear with nice designs set inside. However, there is one useless feature that this controller has, that I have no idea why anyone would use. On the back there is an A-B switch that will swap the functionality of the shoulder buttons. No idea why this would be used, but it's there if anyone needs to use it I guess. The controller has a nice USB dongle (no bluetooth unfortunately) and comes with a USB charging cable which is rather short. There is a square LED right below the home button that will stay solid when charging, flash fast when charged, and slowly flash when low. This is a great hassle free way of telling what status your battery is in. The controller lasts quite a long time with a whopping 25 hours of battery life per charge. The larger battery may be why the controller is slightly heavier.

My only real issue is that the L1 and R1 buttons are a little too close together because of the controller's square shape. It takes a while to get used to this and you have to force your fingers in the right position, but after about 4-5 hours of playing it starts to feel natural. Other than that this is a very nice well made controller that doesn't feel like cheap plastic. For the low price I was surprised at how well made this was especially being wireless, having rumble, and SixAxis control built in. This is probably one of the best wireless controllers I have ever used and will be one I recommend to everyone.

Honest reviews on Nyko Raven Wireless Controller for PS3 (Xbox 360 Orientation)

Overall I love this controller! It's so cool to have one like this which has a slight feeling of being a PS3 controller, with more of an Xbox 360 controller slant to it. The controller is really cool looking, and feels great on its surface though it does feel a little bit uncomfortable in my hands.

The one major problem I have with the controller is that when I have played Madden 13, sometimes the controller will not execute some commands such as attempting an audible before the snap on offense.

Each time I use the controller I get more and more used to how the feel differs from the Sony brand PS3 controller.

One minor thing that I dislike about the controller is that while it can power off the PS3, it cannot turn the PS3 on like the Sony controller can. I suppose this would be a non issue for most people whom probably have the Sony Bluray remote anyways, though I am not going to spend $25.00 for a remote right now. I just use the Sony Controller with which I can power my PS3 on and then switch to my Nyko Raven and then turn off the Sony Controller.

It is nice that a Dongle to insert into the console is included with this controller! I did try another so called Bluetooth controller....did not work! With the dongle, you just insert it into the console and you are good to go! (After you charge the controller that is, as it does not come with a charge you have to charge then controller before you can use it.)

I was thrilled I was able to order this controller here on Amazon! I could not find this controller new in stock at any of my local retailers.

Of course whether or not you prefer the Xbox or PS3, the Xbox controllers are superior by far when compared to the Playstation brand controllers. I would like to possibly purchase another Nyko Raven PS3 controller in the future if they can make a few changes such as:

More Color Options

Better Response

More comfortable feel

Longer Battery life

Overall for the price, this is a great value! MUCH better than what I have seen as the $54.99 typical retail price for the Sony brand controller.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Nyko Raven Wireless Controller for PS3 (Xbox 360 Orientation)

This controller has a lot of promise, but ultimately falls short.

I was drawn to the raven because it's styled like the Xbox 360 controller with the analog sticks asymmetrical and actual triggers.

The triggers are great, better than the Xbox because they angle outward slightly to match your fingers, and the ability to switch the R1 and L1 with R2 and L2 is fantastic because most games don't have the ability to remap those controls. However, the actual R1/L1 buttons are HORRIBLE! Very squishy and often don't register when you press them (my guess is because they are pressure sensitive for when you swap with the triggers, but I have not tested this functionality) I usually need to press them on the side closer to the middle of the controller, which is counterproductive to the outward angled triggers. This is really bad for games like uncharted (reload) and call of duty (grenades).

The analog sticks are also an issue. I had read reviews where people mention that the sticks have a large dead zone, but I found that the problem has more to do with the sensitivity. When you move the stick just a little bit it moves extremely slow (less than on other controllers), then about a third of the way to the edge it jumps to nearly maximum movement speed. My aim ends up jumping from side to side of the target because I can't fine tune my aim. For people who like the sensitivity extremely high this might be a plus, but for me it's very difficult to use.

The raven is also a bit smaller than an Xbox controller, about a 1/2 inch off the sides. The Xbox is also bumped out where you place your palms while the raven is mostly flat with mildly sharp bottom grips. After playing for about an hour my hands started to cramp and hurt in the palm and pinky/ring fingers. I also found myself having to grip a bit harder to hold the controller as well because of its size. In trying to it to make it look like a raven, they sacrificed a lot of functionality.

The Sixasis functionality works well, I tested it in killzone 2 and little big planet.

Another thing that was noted by other reviewers as well is that you cannot turn on the PS3 with the controller. I also have to press the ps button twice when starting up, once to turn on the controller, and a second time to connect it to the PS3.

I was hoping that this controller would be similar to the Xbox, or at least be more comfortable and functional than the DS3, but it's just a poorly executed product.

My five-year-old Xbox needed replacing. It wasn't because of a failure with the console itself (I'd already gone through the red-rings a few years back, and the console was repaired under warranty, and worked fine), but the attached hard drive was slowing down/wearing out, causing lag in multiplayer and error messages during video streaming. Because my Xbox was an older non-Slim model, I couldn't buy a new hard drive for it, and the "refurbished" drives that Gamestop sells (really not refurbished any more than simply wiped of data and re-sold) were as old as my hard drive, or older. Thanks to Microsoft using a proprietary hard drive format, I was having to replace a working console.

For cost reasons, my preference was just to wait until the next-gen Xbox. With Halo 4 coming out, and the prospect of missing out on multiplayer with friends, I decided to buy a new Xbox.

Fortunately, Amazon had cut $50 off the price, and I was able to get the machine on this page before Amazon sold out. Because I selected Super Saver Shipping, Amazon sat on the order for a week, then shipped it in two days (go figure). As much as this new Xbox was a grudge purchase, I have to say the Slim model is a treat to use after the old white model I have.

First, I can't hear it under my desk. The white model sounded like a hair dryer, and the noise alone pushed me to use my PS3 more often. Now, the Xbox Slim and the PS3 are equally pleasant to use. Also, the smaller form factor of the Slim is appreciated. In a world where an iPhone makes headlines for getting a few mm thinner, it's also nice that consoles are shrinking.

The Slim's design looks like it was made by a hardware company, finally, and not a software giant that reaches for white plastic as a case solution. Since it is wise for console owners to keep their machines in well-ventilated areas due to the heat these things generate (I have mine out in the open), how the Xbox looks is relevant, even though it is simply a game machine.

What is most enjoyable about this new Xbox Slim, for me, I am now certain that any lag in function, either online, or with the Xbox dashboard, is due to my internet connection, or to the Xbox software, and not an aging console or hard drive. Having confidence in your hardware, especially when playing multiplayer games online, is a bonus, since lag or slow write speeds impact the performance you're striving for in a multiplayer environment. If I were just playing single player games, for example, I would have ridden the white Xbox until it literally broke down.

Moving from older hardware to the latest version also gives me perspective on what Microsoft has failed to improve on. The Xbox dashboard is laggy, and has been since before Xbox avatars were introduced. It's not a deal-breaker, especially given Microsoft's advantages, including an excellent chat feature that "just works" every time you use it, but you would think Microsoft could tap into some hardware acceleration, to give later-model users a bit faster load times on the dashboard. The same complaint could be levied against the DVD-ROM drive, which takes just as long to install a game to the hard drive as my five-year-old machine did. It's a moot point now, as Microsoft is undoubtedly focused on the next-generation Xbox, but if these small advantages had been implemented when the Slim was designed, it would have given upgraders like myself, forced upgraders some of us, a little bit of extra value. (I realize every Xbox needs to have the same performance capabilities in online settings, to keep a level playing field. It may have been problematic, but the Xbox still feels needlessly slow to use.)

If you find yourself with an Xbox you don't trust anymore, or are tired of the loud noise of an older model, there is still a year before the next-gen machine arrives, at least. A multiplayer gamer will get a lot out of a new Xbox, especially at $249. I went back and forth on it, but now that I upgraded, even this late in the cycle, I find the Slim just good enough to justify the expense.

Good ol' Slashy-Slashy

This game is a lot of fun, and I'm a huge fan of crossover games. I get way too hyped up whenever I see characters from one franchise meeting characters from another.

If you like slashy-slashy action adventure games, there's nothing better than the Warriors series. The graphics are amazing, gameplay is a lot of fun, and there are a TON of characters to play as each with their own unique skills and weapons.

This game is pretty standard fare for anybody used to the dynasty warriors franchise. Sub par visuals and retentive gameplay are the only real draw backs that i can find. The character roster is extensive and the weapon crafting is incredibly deep for a game that comes off simple in the surface. It can and will become an addiction as it did for me. It can be found pretty cheap if you shop around as i did but it's worth every penny no matter if used or price. I'm not really a fan of this type if game but still had a hell of a good time with it and i recommend it to anyone looking for a game that's just fun without being very serious.

THE GAME

I'll start by saying that this review will NOT be about SOCOM's various technical snafus. I've played the game through several revisions and I've had a fairly smooth ride from a technical standpoint. I'm going to review this game as though it runs perfectly, since I assume Slant Six will have it patched to that point in the very near future.

Instead, I want to discuss SOCOM: Confrontation as a game. And as a game, I've found that it ultimately falls short of being worth its retail price.

The game is ambitiously conceived, and the whole reason I purchased it in the first place was that the designers worked very hard to implement a number of features that I found very appealing and intelligent. Chief among these are the voice communication system and the motion-sensitive cover system. Ultimately, however, both fall short.

The voice system is for the most part well-implemented, but the team-wide chat is the same as any other multiplayer shooter, and the local-area open-mic chat is too quiet and erratic to be useful in combat. In addition, I've found that very few players put these features to use. This is not necessarily the fault of the publishers, but it's unfortunately typical of the experience you'd have playing this title.

The cover system is a nightmare. The game is full of awkwardly-proportioned obstacles that ensure that you will be firing into your own cover time and time again. The game punishes you for finding tactically valuable high ground by sticking a railing in your face that makes shooting downwards impossible. The only bright spot is the fact that you can make your character duck all the way to where he's kissing the dirt, then pop up and shoot. Assuming you don't shoot your own sandbags, it's a good tactic that's proven itself in ambushes.

As for the mechanics of the game, they're decidedly sub-par. The controls are needlessly complex. For example, there are three zoom levels, which means you need two buttons to navigate among them. Weapon switching is an incredible chore, and even though you have a quick-swap button, you can't configure which weapon comes up when you press it, so it defaults to your mostly useless pistol when grenades would be a far more desirable option. Instead, you have to hold the weapon select button, fiddle with the D-pad to find the weapon you want, then release the swap button while holding the D-pad. Even knowing how to do it, you still mess it up some of the time. Also, for a game bent on seeming "realistic", it is decidedly unbalanced when it comes to movement and shooting. Characters walking at full speed suffer no accuracy penalty vs. characters that are crouched still or even prone. Call of Duty 4 and 5, which are more arcade-y in other areas, offer far more realism in this regard. You have to slow down and use your sights to shoot at even moderately close range. But since the 3rd person view makes shooting difficult, and players have learned that you might as well charge, the game devolves into a lot of close-range circle-strafing, which is decidedly unrealistic, unenjoyable, and just plain stupid.

To make matters worse with SOCOM, the online experience itself is not well-designed. After using Call of Duty's simple, streamlined, easy matchmaking system, going to a PC-style menu of servers is a major step backwards. When you make yes/no selections in the menu, the cursor lags and jumps around, often picking the option you DIDN'T want. Another annoyance is that, while you can configure many different character loadouts, you can't switch among them without leaving the server! Not to constantly compare the game to the Call of Duty series, but this is clearly inferior. In COD, you can switch your profile any time you wish to adjust to the game type and map. SOCOM does not allow this, which is a major annoyance given the fact that multiple equipment loadouts come in handy depending on the game type, and most ranked room run in medley form. True, you can change your weapons and secondaries between lives, but these all have to be done one item at a time. Also, you can't change your armor settings mid-game at all.

There are some good points to this game. Character creation is deep, fun, and the instant availability of weapons and camouflage let you design your warrior just how you'd like. The weapons have a realistic feel, aided by the outstanding sound design and excellent explosion and impact effects. And Crossroads really is the best multiplayer map that's ever been made. It's just spectacular. I score markedly better on this map than any of the others. I'm going to miss it when I sell this game next week.

But the best part of this game isn't part of the game at all, it's...

THE HEADSET

There's no denying it. This headset is an outstanding piece of kit. It's discreet, light, it functions perfectly, pairs easily, sounds great, is comfortable enough, and the battery lasts a long, long time. It also survived a fall from about six feet up onto a hardwood floor, so I'd say it's durable. I had to use the included smaller ear disc, since I have funny ears, but hey, they were nice enough to provide it. Assuming future titles will have headset support, this is a must-own.

SOCOM: Confrontation is a disappointing, frustrating game whose many bright spots fail to outweigh its even bigger annoyances. In an online shooter market packed with two Call of Duty games, Resistance 2, and the upcoming Killzone 2, there simply is no room for this game among its many superior competitors.

I've been playing this game for 2 months now and have found no end in the entertainment it can provide.

The game received bad reviews initially for server issues and bugs that have now been resolved. The developers are clearly committed to fixing problems, improving the game, and adding more content in the future. A poorly designed menu system is immediately apparent, but should not reflect the quality of the game itself.

Previously I played SOCOM:Combined Assault, and this game is completely redesigned, featuring smaller maps that provide for a more intimate, engaging fighting experience. The game play is truly second to none. All the press attention may go to Call of Duty 4 and 5, and those are great games, but the realism and graphic detail is nothing compared to SOCOM:Confrontation.

All the maps (Fallen, Urban Wasteland, Crossroads, Kasbah, Frostfire, Desert Glory, and Quarantine) are well designed and provide for a fair engaging competition between the two teams. This game now switches sides between Seals and Mercenaries halfway through the game to insure that any unfairness in the map is not reflected in the final score. The new communication system allows for better communication between teammates. Each player's audio can be heard by other players (friendly and enemy) physically near them in the game, while pressing L2 will broadcast over the radio to all teammates regardless of location in the map. Playing this game without a headset is unacceptable.

The new Player Profile section allows your character to be fully customized (including Camouflage Color, Skin Color, Face, and Attire) for both Seal and Mercenary. It will also allow you to predefine your default firearms and gear.

The audio provides realistic gunfire and a dynamic soundtrack that changes based on what you are experiencing in the game.

I highly recommend this game, it should definitely be the bestselling PlayStation 3 game currently available.

Wow, how this thing was ever considered as a finished product is beyond me. This has to be one of the worst PS3 titles I've encountered. The biggest complaint I have involves the numerous bugs.

Installing the game itself and trying to play it for the first time gives you an error message. It seems as if the 1.10 patch which you are forced to download corrupts your save game. Since the game creates a save game when it first launches it is an impossible error to avoid. After patching the game you will be informed that your save game is corrupt and that you must manually exit the game and delete the save game. Seriously, the game forces you to delete its own save game just to play it for the first time.

While playing this game you will encounter the following: You will get lock-ups leading to a frozen console. You will see other players' characters missing weapons. Most of the servers' "channels" will be full and open games will be difficult to find. You will encounter serious lag during play. Closer aiming will inexplicably cause your character to stand up. The menus will respond slowly to your input.

There are other issues with this game beyond the glitches alone. The graphics are poor for a PS3 title. The textures are muddy and low resolution. The game has plain lighting effects which fail to impress. The blood effects appear to lifted directly from Mortal Kombat. The control scheme is unnecessarily complicated with poor default mapping. All buttons on the controller are used and some serve multiple functions based on the duration of a press. Unfortunately, this doesn't really lead to superior control versus other, similar, games. It's complex for the sake of complexity. Features you expect in a modern game such as the ability to join one of your friend's games in progress, player muting, or even something as simple as your own name being highlighted in a long list of party members are absent. Trophies, which are indicated on the box itself, are nowhere to be found. They are promised in a future patch.

I'll write briefly about the headset as it's likely that's a main draw in the purchase of this bundle. There are a couple of minor problems with the device. The unit itself is quite heavy. It is by far the bulkiest Bluetooth headset I've used. You may feel your ear getting fatigued earlier than you'd hope for because of this. The ear cushion is not adjustable in size so it may flop around in your ear as it dangles from the headset's hook. The main attraction to be found is the giant mute button in the middle of the device. Most headsets created for use with cellular phones have an inconvenient mute function. You will also receive on-screen notifications when changes are made to the unit such as volume adjustment, the mute toggle, and a battery charge indicator.

SOCOM: Confrontation isn't ready for prime time. It has far too many show-stopping bugs and feels unpolished in most aspects. I would stay far away from this game. The headset is worth a purchase, but the game itself is not.

Honest reviews on SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation bundled with Bluetooth Headset

I was using a Blu Ant headset with my PS3. Unfortunately, it died and I needed a new headset. My goal was to purchase the official PS3 headset. Unfortunately, it was sold out everywhere UNLESS I went with the bundled Socom:Confrontation package. I'd read very mixed, mostly negative reviews, but I figured the bugs had been fixed by way of patch and it was really popular Sony exclusive, so there would be a community that would be able to help me figure it out.

The headset works great in fact, it's awesome. First party peripherals rarely dissappoint and I reccomend it if you are using brand x.

Socom:Confrontation is garbage. It has a lengthy patch after the lengthy download. It promptly froze the first time I booted up. And the second. Once in the main menu, you will find absolutely NOTHING in way of tutorial or explination. There are no training missions and no option to play against bots. The ONLY option is to go straight online. Not only does this suck for people new to the game, but for those who are already online, it's no fun having people jump in that are totally clueless.

Once online, using my nifty new headset I said "what's up guys, I'm new to the game, any pointers?" I was promtly booted. Next game I wondered about, picked up five kills (lead the room in kills) and was promptly booted as soon as the next match started. These were 8 (of a possible 32) people matches. The quality of players was sketchy and I checked and there were only 9500 people globally playing. Compare this to 350,000 people playing Killzone 2 at any given time or 900,000 playing 2 year old COD:MW in any week. I gave it a few hours and found the game boring and maps nearly empty. Furthermore, even an experienced gamer will get wrecked by experienced players in any given game (I pwn on Killzone, but get pwned in COD). There aren't a lot of players and on a weekend over the course of several hours, no skilled players that made me think I was outclassed.

The actual nuts and bolts play isn't bad. Playing 3rd person is differnt after 1000's of hours playing in the first person, but it's okay. The graphics are last generation. I understand that this is a PSP game ported to PS3, but this is really terrible. The load out is simple enough, but in most of the matches I joined, I had equipment that was restricted and I almost always played with whatever the host wanted me to play with. The pacing is MUCh slower than COD and Killzone 2, in my opinion, too slow. After having played games that require thought AND move very fast, whipping up on the SOCOM players felt almost unfair. Again, the quality players seemed to be playing something else.

When you play Killzone or see videos of COD:MW2 running, it really makes you wonder who Sony and Slant 6 thought would play this game. Graphics aren't everything, but Socom is not user friendly, it is not something you can pick up and play and offers nothing to entice new players to comeback and get better (hence the few number of people playing). I thought there was no way Socom could possibly be as bad as some of the reviews and it's my favirote genre of games. Turns out the negative reviews were right on. This is a bad game. Go buy COD, Killzone 2, Brothers in Arms, Dora the Explorer. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS GAME YOU WILL REGRET IT. Consider yourself warned.

Looked forward to getting this game, and found out, there was no game. The only thing is that you are connected to the internet, choose up sides, and kill each other, with somewhat varying landscapes. A real loser and waste of money. Gamespot basically put no worth in it, not even giving me the cost of the bluetooth headset. What a rip! I wanted to rate this no stars, because it did not deserve even one star.

Haven't changed my mind about this game. What is truly telling, is that Amazon is offering a whopping $2.55 to you if you want to trade this game in. That is pitiful for a $59.95 game. Really sucks.

For old school adventure game nostalgia, I always go back to Tomb Raider 1 & 2. Here, we have the excellent remake of the original Tomb Raider in Anniversary, the fantasic Legend, and the not-half-bad Underworld. It's great to finally see Anniversary and Legend in 720p on the PS3. Graphically, all three of the games look great, with Underworld being the standout of the bunch in this regard. Sound design is nothing special in any of the games here, except in one department: the soundtracks. Orchestral music has been a staple of this series since the beginning, and these entries do not dissappoint. As with all of the Tomb Raider games, the controls and camera angles will at times get the best of you, but these issues aren't deal-breakers here (unlike the bug-riddled Angel of Darkness back in 2003).

Bottom Line: For long-time Tomb Raider fans, this is a no-brainer: Pick it up; it's a must-buy. For those who have never played Tomb Raider, this is the perfect place to start.

It's simple really, if you loved the two PS2 games then you should buy this game. The updated HD graphics are beautiful. And it's a lot more convenient to play the games all on one disc than have to load them into your PS2. Also, if you don't already have Underword, it's another reason to get this. Great value.

One thing I am NOT happy about is that they didn't put Underword's DLC on this game. Once again PS3 users get screwed. Maybe Microsoft put up the cash to make it exclusive to them, but Eidos should have given to it Sony since it's always been Playstation users who have been loyal to the Tomb Raider franchise. Or just give the DLC to EVERYBODY! I really hate this exclusive business. It just seems selfish and unfair to the gamers in my opinion.

Best Deals for Tomb Raider Trilogy

While we wait for the next official installment of Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics has compiled its first three Tomb Raider games in one convenient package. The result is a compilation that is 1/3 amazing, 1/3 good, and 1/3 mediocre.

Legend is the oldest of the three and it really shows its age on the PS3 version. The upscaling on the PS3 looks really weird thus making it the ugliest of the three. The game is also criminally short with 7 main stages that take mere minutes to finish once you get the flow. It's the most diverse of the three featuring bike riding (yuck), turret shooting, and lots of action sequences. Variety may be the spice of life but Legend is not what Tomb Raider fans necessarily want in a Tomb Raider game, Anniversary explains it why.

Released in 2007, Tomb Raider Anniversary is a remake of the original 1996 classic Tomb Raider. The crown jewel of this collection, Anniversary is clearly the game with the most polish of the three. The game boils down essentially what a Tomb Raider game should be, lots of platforming and death defying stunts, little to no human-on-human violence, and an excellent sense of being alone in a desolate place. Of the three it sits in the middle for best looking, it is upscaled much better than Legend with a much cleaner look. While nostalgia freaks of the original scoff at Anniversary's trimmings of the original, the end result faithfully recreates the original while brining it in to the modern age. With less long stretches and non memorable areas removed.

Tomb Raider Underworld is the native HD game of the three and story-wise is a continuation of Legend's tale. While it is the best looking, Underworld sets itself as the worst of the three games for various reasons. Lara has more animations in this game but none of them feel right. The controls are iffy at best and glitches are everywhere. You would think that the developers would have fixed Underworld's numerous flaws by now but that's not the case. Falling 15 feet seems to mean doom for Lara in this game and there are times where you'll even be stuck in mid-air for no reason. Again this is to be blamed by adding a bunch of animations that did not need to be done. They were going for a more organic, realistic game but this is not the case. On the Xbox 360, Tomb Raider Underworld got two extra levels as DLC, none of them appear on this PS3 re-release which really makes the game and package half-assed. Add to the glitches and bugs, Underworld does not have even a third of bonus content that Legend and Anniversary posses. No Time Trials, no Croft Manor puzzle stage, no unlockable costumes.

The compilation is priced right and you'll get some fine adventuring here to last for a while. Legend and Anniversary will keep you replaying stages (especially Anniversary's Time Attack on its later stages) and extra content while you'll probably just fly through Underworld and never touch it again.

Honest reviews on Tomb Raider Trilogy

I should begin by admitting that I really loved these games when they were first released. Playing through them again has really brought home the fact that gamers are quite spoiled these days. We expect amazing everything. And most of us grow weary when games don't deliver. In their time, these games were the best of the best; they offered unique gaming experiences and were responsible for a great deal of what is common in today's platformers. That having been said; these are all showing their age. There are simply a vast number of games which have come along that look, control and please much more than these will. They aren't bad games. And the fact that they're being bundled at such a decent price makes it a worthwhile investment. It also doesn't hurt that there are three decent platinum trophies to be had here. But just don't expect to feel the same fondness for these titles that you may have when you initially played them. Titles such as these have the unfortunate disadvantage of being unlike certain other platformers (think Mario or Sly Cooper), in that they've been shown up a number of times since their creation. I played the Sly Collection recently and it (much like the original NES Mario games would) still felt worthwhile. Games like this weren't choppy and overly pixelated, the controls were near-perfect, and the direction was usually pretty clear. The Tomb Raider Trilogy can't really claim most of that to be true. They don't look great comparatively, the camera and controls are certainly not the greatest, and the game isn't always good with directing players to their next objective. Even I have to admit that that last complaint isn't always a bad thing. The frustration of these once-groundbreaking games is something that many of you may consider its greatest strength. And I'm on board with that. Some of the puzzles were simply too unclear for my tastes. And that really saying something, considering I just finished playing and loving Portal 2. Regardless, I think the game rests somewhere between a 3 and a 4. It's certainly no 5. And newcomers are likely going to agree with me on the 3. Nostalgia, trophies, and an excellent package price drive this ever closer to a 4 for me. But the look, camera, and controls wedge this one much closer to a 3 than a 4, in my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree. I just know that there are better games out there to be played at this point in time. There are even better PS2 re-releases to be found (the god of war collection, for instance). Again, these are decent games. Playing them, you'll quickly realize where most puzzling elements in newer video games had their roots. Those newer games owe lots of credit to these groundbreakers. I gladly admit all of that. So invest. It won't be the worst gaming purchase you've ever made. That much I know. But, as a consumer, I must admit that these have not aged well. As much as I hate admitting that fact; I still feel it right to give fair warning.

Quick note: this trilogy seems to have been made primarily for one of three groups of people those who have/had a PS2 but not "Legend" or "Anniversary", those who have a PS2 and a PS3 but no longer have "Legend" or "Anniversary", or those who have a PS3 and were wary of playing "Underworld" due to the lackluster reception and sales. Well, rest assured, your worries are unfounded: this is quite possibly one of the best collections I have ever seen.

Crystal Dynamics' impression of the Tomb Raider series is an impressive one, to say the least. While all three of these games can be completed in less than ten hours each, they are never anything short of enjoyable or fun. "Legend" begins the trilogy by providing a creative, compelling backstory and heavily story-driven gameplay.

"Legend" takes Lara all around the world, from an ancient underground castle to the chilly mountains of Nepal, boasting breathtaking scenery, fantastic music, and an intuitive control scheme that rivals many of the other games I have played. The story is surprisingly personal and rarely boring, as Lara begins by looking for "an ornate stone dais" in Tiwanaku, Bolivia, that eventually expands to include Arthurian legend and an old Soviet project called "Carbonek". The ending both provides a sense of closure and a sequel hook, proving a short but wholly engrossing experience that only Lara can provide.

"Anniversary" is an expanded reimagining of the original "Tomb Raider", revamped to fit with both "Legend" and "Underworld" while providing tighter controls and a wider moveset for Lara, set in as a series staple beautiful crumbling ruins and lush, hidden jungles. Lara now has the ability to use her grapple for wall-running. Some levels from the original game have been compressed into one another, some streamlined, and still others made bigger to account for Lara's new abilities. The story takes Lara from Peru to the lost continent of Atlantis as she searches for the fabled Atlantean Scion, a device her father had been searching for, and one he had hoped would discover where Lara's mother disappeared to. Lara continues his quest, leading into the last and, in my personal opinion, best entry in the trilogy.

After hearing so many complaints about "Underworld", I was reluctant to pick it up, but this collection forced me to, and I am very pleased with it. Although graphics don't necessarily "make" a game, they help with the sense of immersion, and "Underworld" does exactly that: immerses you in a huge, unbelievable, gorgeous world with a story so tight and twisting that to mention much about it would give away plenty of spoilers. Varied enemy types, massive underwater complexes, and intricate puzzles will keep you fascinated for hours. Lara looks, moves, and acts like a real, living woman, and her expanded range of moves not only makes her believable, but also gives some unique answers to puzzles and gameplay. All in all, the game gives an awesome wrap-up to the series while providing a bittersweet sense of closure both as Eidos Interactive hands off Tomb Raider to another developer, and for Lara and going on twenty years of pure awesome.

Technical details:

The trilogy includes some media for PlayStation Home, a PlayStation theme pack that changes the wallpaper and icons to a Tomb Raider style, and making-of videos and trailers all accessible from the trilogy's main menu. Each game also launches individually while all being loaded on one disc my guess is that the disc is dual-layer and Square Enix packed all fifty gigabytes full of content. It shows.

"Legend" and "Anniversary" are indeed the Xbox 360 versions of the games transferred to the PlayStation 3. After having heard this mentioned once, I double-checked using bug notes and screenshots and discovered that this is true... meaning that these two games come with all the bugs and glitches the 360 version has. This includes a potentially game-busting bug in "Legend's" England level that requires you to load an earlier save if you happen to come across it. Replaying this level after completing the game, though, does not re-trigger this bug.

"Underworld" has its share of bugs, though I encountered none of them due to having a walkthrough listing the game's bugs handy. If you find one of these and follow it carefully, you won't have any problems at all, especially some of the game-breaking ones in Mexico and Croft Manor. In spite of complaints to the contrary, I rarely had issues with the camera and mostly fought with the controls. If, however, one keeps the pace down and is patient with Lara rather than rushing through the game, you shouldn't have many issues with the controls at all.

The Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable games, "Beneath the Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow", are not included.

All three games run at a maximum of 720p. Upscaling to 1080p will cause some anti-aliasing issues, while upscaling to 1080i will cause blurring, at least on "Underworld". All three look perfectly fine in standard definition and nothing is lost if that's your only option.

Load times for "Legend" and "Anniversary", but particularly the former, are surprisingly long. Considering the capabilities of Blu-ray, I was very surprised with the waiting, especially after accidentally killing Lara. "Underworld" has long load times when first beginning a level or loading a manual save, but considering each area is essentially one massive level with cutscenes splitting it into manageable bits, this is understandable. Load times after sending Lara to her death are refreshingly brief.

Both "Underworld" and "Anniversary" have a manual save limit, which is unfortunate.

Overall, the collection is a great buy for any fan of Tomb Raider from those who began with Lara's very first adventure to those who never got the chance to play it way back when, for those looking for the thrilling conclusion to Lara's tale, for those looking for a graphical paradise and a great sense of immersion, and those who never got to play the first two when they were released on the PlayStation 2, Lara never fails to disappoint in her many globetrekking adventures. A great swan song to the old series, and a great example of a three-part story done very, very well.

This is a solid basketball bundle for hard-core sporting gamers. The Pros outweigh the Cons, and here they are:

PROS:

>> Superb graphics. I've played all the others (NBA2K2, NBA Live), and these are the best yet. Lay-ins, dunks, crossovers, rebounding, you name it, the XBOX delivers on this.

>> Challenging competition. I'm still a believer the Dreamcast has the best sporting games (and PS2, now that they picked up NFL2K2, NBA2K2, etc.). But even on the "All-Star" Level, I'm able to dessimate the computer on NBA2K2. I have to play buddies in 2-on-2 mode to get some decent competition. Not the case with NBA DRIVE. I'm now on the Veteran Level, and I'm at best a .500 club right now (despite having similar controls, directional passing, etc.). Makes for a more challenging and eventful gaming experience with the computer.

>> Excellent play-by-play analysis. I may be biased on this one, but I'm a big SONICS fan. The voice is Kevin Calabro and Marques Johnson (Sonic play-by-play guys). Calabro gives you a variety of his patented and colorful style. Hasn't got old yet.

>> Easy to learn controls. Microsoft didn't reinvent the wheel on this one, which is a good thing. The controls and method of play mirrors that of NBA2K2. Those of you familiar with that won't have to learn anew.

>> Realistic passing. If you pass into traffic, the ball will be snatched away. NBA2K2 let's you pass into a crowd, the length of the court, etc., and you always find your man. Not entirely the way the game is played, guys.

CONS:

>> Unrealistic rebounding. Even with excellent position, your 7' center isn't guaranteed the board. A little frustrating. Also, there's too many steals during a regulation game.

>> Buzzer beaters. I've lost a couple games to FULL-COURT THREES! Just make sure you're up by three if there's 2.3 seconds to go.

>> No create-a-player. It's fun to create yourself and dunk over Motumbo. Maybe in the next version.

>> Ridiculous blocks. At least 3-4 times during a game, my power forward will slash down the lane, go for a dunk, and there's a clean strip of the ball in mid-air. Yes, very annoying.

Nevertheless, this is the best basketball game out there. The games are sometimes close, sometimes you're blown away, sometimes your guys are hot, sometimes their cold...it's the way a season goes. Challenging game play and sick graphics all make for a notable and superb gaming experience. Now get to it!

I'm almost an exclusive player of sports games, and have played all the major basketball releases. In my book, this is the best one, with NBA2K2 a close second. I'm a previous Dreamcast owner, and I was reluctant to purchase another system (in my opinion, the Dreamcast has the best sporting games). Because Sega now focuses on games (which they excel at), they've all but abandoned their Dreamcast efforts --thus, I had no choice but pick up another system! With more graphic capability than PS2, XBOX was the obvious choice.

NBA Inside Drive CONS:

>>> Rebounding is difficult. I play with the Sonics (my home team). Too many times during the game my opponent's guards will be leaping over the 7' Jerome James. Yes, a little unrealistic and frustrating. At the same time, you can get 20 blocks and 20 steals a game. Not entirely a realistic portrayal of the game here.

>>> No "Create-a-Player" mode. Sure, it's fun to create yourself and go for 40 points against Tracy McGrady.

>>> I've lost a couple close ones at the buzzer...to FULL COURT HAIL-MARIES! All you can do is toss your controller and call B.S. on that.

NBA Inside Drive PROS:

>>> The game is challenging. I can dessimate an opponent on the All-Star level on NBA2K2. As for this game, I'm about a .500 club on only the Veteran Level of this one. Granted, I've just started playing, but the controls and functions are basically the same as 2K2 (i.e., I'm comfortable with the playability). It makes for a much more challenging game playing experience.

>>> The graphics are sick (meaning good). Bodies, faces, lay-ins, alley-oops and dunks. All superb.

>>> The commentary is sharp. Granted, you hear alot of the same things over and over ("Payton with a cork-screw hopper!" Whatever that is.). But you've got the best voice in the game, Seattle's own colorful Kevin Calabro. Hard to complain here.

All in all. The best B-ball game out there. Great eye-candy, and because it's so challenging to win, it is more likely to keep your interest well into a season. Well worth your [money].

Best Deals for NBA Inside Drive 2002

Now, don't get me wrong this is not a bad game, the gameplay is very good. But the overall presentations isn't. I would give the actual gameplay 4 stars. Something good about the game is that the one thing that really comforts me and other people is that the controls are identical to the NBA2K series on the Dreamcast. One thing I am wondering and other people are too is why is the game so dark? If the game was brightened the graphics would look a lot more sharp. Also, where is create a player? I mean come on, most basketball games in the last 5 years have had create a player. And another thing, there's no Franchise mode. I mean who doesn't want to create a team that has a dynasty of winning 10 Championships in a row and having the fun of having a players contract run out. The Grapichs in this game are amazing but could have been 4 times as good if the game was brightened. The gameplay in this game is good, but not nearly as fun as NBA2K, NBA2K1, or NBA2K2. NBA INSIDE DRIVE 2002 is a VERY good game according to gameplay and I would consider buying it, but I might wait a while and get NBA2K2 first for the x-box. (I already have it for the dreamcast) What I am about to say is what most people can agree with, NBA Inside Drive 2002 is a good game, but could have been better...the season mode just isn't enough for a solo player and we need more options! NBA INSIDE DRIVE 2002 is better than NBA LIVE 2002, but falls way short of being better than NBA2K2. Hopefully with NBA INSIDE DRIVE 2003 everything will be fixed and maybe the INSIDE DRIVE series could start its own video game franchise being right up there with the 2K and LIVE series.

Honest reviews on NBA Inside Drive 2002

Ok...first thing's first, this is a great game. BUT there are A LOT of things you can not do that makes basketball games better. First thing, no dynasty or franchise mode. Then, you can only do a season, and you cant create a player at all. And at first i dont think i liked the game at all. Because when you are playing, its like you are playing in a dungeon. But that is probably because i had nba live 2002. Then when i got use to it, this game is pretty addictive. game play is realistic as can be. I play basketball for university of delaware, and this game is whats its like actually playin in the game. You cant make dumb passes and rebounding and blocking shots was made to perfection. Unlike in nba live where you can take the ball to the hoop and never get blocked. I suggest renting it and also playing nba 2k2 before spending 50 bucks on it. I mean I thought it was worth the money but thats me. You might spend 50$ and realize its the worst game youve ever played.

Although Drive2002 is a definite step up from Live2002, it still leaves me wondering what is so difficult about getting things right. As Microsoft complains that other third party producers aren't using the x-box to its full capacity for their games, they sell themselves extremely short with Drive2002. True the graphics are better than any other game on the market(still anticipating 2K2 launch on march 1st)but it seems as if every arena has the lights turned off, or maybe we're mearly playing every game,at night in a retractable dome? Also they decided to pay more attention to colorful commentary and post game remarks than instituting a create-player and fantasy option. Overall the game is fun until you start playing on more challenging levels, where jump shooting becomes to difficult for the human brain to comprehend. This is about the time where you start dunking on every play. It is also way to easy to rip ball handelers, alley-oops seem almost forgotten, and passing to the player you want is almost impossible, because the computer would rather you throw a lobbing cross court pass, then to the player next to you for an open dunk(newly added lob feature). The AI is smarter but 2002 NBA rules aren't all implemented in Drive2002(zone defenses). Instead your player can just wander around double teaming anyone you would like him to. Passing lanes are played too well, and can anybody tell me why these game creators can not develop a game where players get out and run with you on a fast break? It always seems like it's a three on one and both of you wing man stop to watch. Hopefully Drive 2002 is just a preview of what the real version of the game will be like in 2003!

YO, Being that this is a music game, there really isn't all that much to get into depth about as far as reviewing in my opinion, but what I will say is that DJ Hero 2 tops the first one in every major way possible! There is actually a career mode now that has somewhat of meaning to it rather than just going through track after track. You start off at underground clubs in Ibiza with a nice little crowd, but end up going international and spinning in some of the best clubs around the world with jam packed dance floors. The customization for your character is more in depth and the tracks are just way better the way they are presented. Dj Hero 1 gave you a pretty good feeling that you were actually controlling the music, but this one give you the feeling even more. If you miss a beat, you WILL know.

You actually get to Dj Battle with the likes of real Djs like David Guetta, Q-Bert, and many more! What is so cool, is its just like at a real life club with an actual Dj line up, The headliner Dj starts his/her intro with several songs that blend in perfectly with each other before they start the actual set to hype up the crowd. Being a raver, I really dig this!! You can get up to a 10 star rating in the intros!! There is no longer a big pause after you get done with a track like in part one..most of the time, the songs go right into one another giving you a very little if no break at all.

This is one of those games like SKATE..you say to yourself "I want to get good at this game" You can make SKATE LOOK good, but with DJ Hero 2..You can make it SOUND good....The way YOU want to. You can freestyle scratch, crossfade, sample, and even have a vocalist! You know this is a good game if Gameinformer says "With all due respect Rockband 3, Dj Hero 2 is our music game of the year" If you had mixed feelings about Dj Hero 1, then prepare to be blown away by this performance! Get it!

It's just so much fun! This one is a bit more 'poppy' in music choices than the last DJ Hero game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The tunes are great. Truth be told, it's really nothing like DJ'ing, but it makes you feel, just for a moment, that you really are a DJ. How many games can you bop along to while you play them? Just simple (well, in the later levels HARD!), and enjoyable fun and isn't that what the best games are meant to be?

I liked the first DJ Hero game and I really love this game even more. Has really hot tracks and is addicting.

The real star of this game is the island of Oahu. The whole thing, with terrain and streets modeled down to the meter. Mountain passes, ocean drives, back streets, it's all there. You can even refer to online maps to find your way around the virtual version. There's plenty of eye candy for the sightseer. Lush forests, beaches, rock formations, plantations, private homes, and just enough traffic to make it feel populated. It's surprisingly fun to just pick a luxury car and go for a Sunday drive. And it's not even wasted time, because you get achievements for exploration.

Of course, nearly every mile of roadway is incorporated into one of the pre-planned races and missions, so you will see most of the sights just playing those through. One race in particular takes a 118 mile loop around the entire island. And racing and completing time trials earns money that can be used to buy more cars and homes to store them in.

The selection of vehicles is disappointing, no doubt due to licensing issues. There are plenty of supercars, and the American major manufacturers are all well-represented, but there are no Japanese brands besides Nissan, which only offers two versions of the 350Z. BMW and Porsche are also missing. Customization is limited to a choice of wheels, paint, and pre-set performance levels. As a result, the cars all feel somewhat interchangeable, with little reason to pick one high-downforce, 200MPH+ monster over another.

The cars that made it into the game are nicely modeled, however, and some of the older models do have some character. The option to set seat position for the inside view is a nice touch that makes it feel more realistic. The physics model seems decent, especially with the traction control turned off.

I doubt I'll end up buying every car in the game, but I may pick up the achievement for exploring the entire island. And if I really need to take a Porsche through Kolekole Pass, I might just have to book a trip to Hawaii and do it for real.

I have had this game for about 5 or 6 months now, and it has to be one of the best games I've ever played, and the best driving game. Great graphics, and tons of places to go. Hundreds of miles to drive all over Oahu, Hawaii. One negative thing is you can only play one person at a time, unless you're online. Online is ok, but not to great. Not really good at all without a mic. A very wide selection of cars/bikes, with more being added each month available for free download and microsoft points via xbox live marketplace. Can tune almost every car, with the exception of the ones you win by completing all the challenges in a certain type. (i.e. racing, timed, speed). But very fun to do, and takes a while to finish so you'll be playing for a while, depending on how long you play each day. Another thing I don't like is that to finish the game depends about maybe 15-25% online. You have to win I think it's 5, 10 , and 20 races against another players which will take a long time. I havne't even found anyone to go in a headsup match with me yet. Just unranked matches, that don't count. You also have to join or create a club, which isn't hard at all, but there are a few more things you'll need to do online to finish the game 100%. All in all a GREAT game that you will play a long time. Here's the list of cars and bikes in game, and available for download via xbox live marketplace. I made this list myself, and there shouldn't be any missing, unless a new download has been added to marketplace in the last few weeks, as I haven't checked back yet. Enjoy, and buy the game!

I tried the demo for this game the day it was released (the demo). The game looked nice but the controls were horrible and the GPS not very well done. After reading some reviews of the actual game and hearing about it from various sources I decided I'd give it a try seeing as I was done with PGR3 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. I'm now very glad I gave this game a second chance.

First the car controls are A LOT better in this final game than what they were in the demo. It's a case of night and day. The GPS is also a lot better, although this might just be me.

The amount of road is simply amazing. you can seriously drive anywhere on the island with roads that never seem to end. The island is very nicely detailed and beautifully rendered. The cars however, while they do look very nice, in my opinion do not look as good as in other 360 racing games. Don't get me wrong the cars look exactly like there real world counter parts, but graphically they could have been a bit better.

The map looks exactly like what you'd see if you went to google map and looked at the sattelite shot. This is a cool feature, but again in my opinion I would have been quite happy with a fictitious island with a drawn map.

Something I;ve read in a lot of reviews is how the game let's you completly customize your character. I was actually quite disapointed in the very limited customization options, but then again...this is a racing game not the Simms.

I;ve also read mixed reviews about the amount of cars. some saying there are a lot, others saying 125 is not enough. I think there is a very wide array of cars to choose from, and let's face it, not many ppl will actually use every single car in this game. I think everyone out there will be able to find at least a handfull of cars they want to buy. Personally I'm glad they have ferrari's but even happier at the fact they have included a good selection of some very nice old american muscle cars.

There is a wide variety of races to participate in, most of which are original (to me anyways...). I;ve heard it said often this game is repetitive, but which racing game isn't?

It has been said very often, if you aren't on live, you will be missing out on a lot in this game, but I've found single player only very enjoyable. It is quite cool to be driving along and have another player blast by you in a high end car.

If your done with PGR3 and other such 360 racers, I highly recommend TDU. Don;t base your choice on the demo however.

Honest reviews on Test Drive Unlimited - Xbox 360

This is an awesome game. The only gripe I have with it is that you have to visit all the car dealers to unlock the bikes. Thats a major pain. Online play is fair. If you get this game, get a wheel too!

Some of the cars handle really well, and are pretty realistic. Some of the high powered cars are unrealistic, for example, a little more gas than necessary and you're spinning out, a little over sensitive!

Some of the challenges are stupid. Still don't understand why game companies don't give you an unlock option for those of us who aren't kids and don't have umpteen hours to spend playing :)

They actually recreated Oahu to exact specs. This game is just fun to drive around and see the sites. If you haven't been to Hawaii now is the time to take this affordable trip. I gave this game a lower rating in general because the racing is actaually a little lackluster. Driving a car seems to move a little slower than usual. While recreating a Hawaiian Island they have failed create a great racing sim. I would recommend this game to others just for sheer beauty. Although if you are looking for a great racer turn head.

I haven't played through the whole game yet but the improvements I have seen so far are very good. However before I get to the changes in game play I have to say that this game makes Battlefront I look like a walk in the park. The space battles are HARD and when I say "HARD" I mean borderline "IMPOSSIBLE". Flying over to land on an opposing ship with turbo lasers frying anything that gets close to it only to land (if you make it) and have 10 enemy pilots waiting to blast you when you step out of the cockpit as well as automated blasters guarding vital systems that you need to blow up equals a lot of controller hurling frustration.

On the positive side the playable heroes are powerful but unfortunately seem to function more as temporary bonuses rather than "characters". Heroes can only be accessed during certain points in a battle and are limited to their own boards. For example you can't play as Han Solo during the Clone Wars. Once a hero is killed you'll be waiting awhile for them to respawn unless you change the settings.

The graphics are much improved over the first game but as a trade off (on the PS2 version) the game does suffer from choppy animation and even slowdown at times. As far as sound goes you will still get tired of hearing "They've captured a command post!" but having voice actors that at least sound similar to the each of the heroes was a nice touch.

Battlefront II also ushers in some new game play modes including the 501st mode which is Battlefront's version of a story mode that follows the storyline of the films. Some older modes have been given a new amount of depth including a much deeper, sophisticated Galactic Conquest mode and better Instant Action mode that lets you incorporate heroes right from the start (rather than having to unlock them)

All in all this is probably the most comprehensive, "all purpose" Star Wars game in awhile. While most Star Wars games focus on the events of specific movie or on characters that don't even appear in the movies, this game spans ALL the movies and has every major character, minion, and vehicle represented and playable in some way. You can't ask for much more than that...

This game is different, I bought battlefront II thinking "I master Battlefront I on hard level in one day, so I should be able to jump right into battlefront II and wipe everyone out" Not!! When I 1st got the game I went right to Galactic Conquest I click on the 1st selection and I was fighting in space and was very excited until I got kill 15 times!! (most I ever died in Battlefront I was 4 times) then to top it off I couldn't shot down any ships, I became very frustrated!!! Then I exited the space fighting and went to Genoese to do land battle (which I know I'm expert at) then I was being killed there every minute and I had hard time understand were my life meter was, how to reload ammo etc... I was ready to give up on the game and understood why some people said Battlefront II isn't as good as Battlefront I.

Then I decided to started the game from the beginning and went through "Training" which is Very easy but that is where I learn how I can change my trooper in the middle of the game (without having to kill myself, is a great new feature!!) and how to use a Jedi, after the training was done I went to "Over View of Space" where it tells you to do "Rise of the Empire" Your on land at 1st, which is easy to accomplish but you learn how to take down shields and find object to take back to base or to a ship. Then your in space where it teaches you how to fly, how to lock on the targets, and how to fly into enemies hangers and blow up their ships. After completing all the task in the training & Rise of the empire, then I jump into Galactic Conquest and I did so Much Better and I now LOVE Battlefront II.

It's so much more challenging Then BFI, you can't accomplish BFII in one day, which I like!! BFI my 4yr old can play it and get score as high as me, but BFII is to hard for him as it should be. There are more troops & vehicles to choose from. And I don't understand why other say the graphic are bad, maybe they have cheap TV's. But on my 32" flat screen TV the graphic are crystal clear for me, the planets have more detail and are almost real looking, the wookies look a lot better then they did in Battlefront I. There are so many more planets to choose from and fighting in space is a great feature when you get tired of doing land battles.

The best advice I can give: I don't care how good you are at Battlefront I, this is a Whole new game with different features so I suggest going through "Training" and "Rise of the Empire" before conquering the galaxy and you'll like the game much better I do. BFII IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN BFI!! can't wait for BFIII

Best Deals for Star Wars Battlefront II - PlayStation 2

A lot of people are down on this game, but I liken that to when the new Air Jordans used to come out. At first some people would be like "yo, those things look terrible" and then two weeks later they are, as usual, the hottest shoe on the market.

People always bitch and moan about interface changes, moving the health meter from one place to another, not allowing you to reload until the ammo is depleted, etc. If this is what you're mad about, it just goes to show how great the game is.

The good :

More levels Space, inside the death star, coruscant, etc. The old game had a good variety, the new one just expands on that.

Left some old boards Hoth is the same, but looks better. I think this is awesome personally. Go play hoth on BF1 and then play it on BF2 and tell me the graphics and presentation aren't MUCH better on this game.

Space combat Waahh, this is too hard, I get killed too much. that's the idea, it's not easy. This is the best space combat since X wing vs Tie Fighter. GREAT addition

Jedi's Some people don't like them, I love them. The very first thing I saw on my first spawn in this game was Grievous running at me with 4 light sabers. CRAZY! They aren't omnipotent either, cause I killed Vader on my second board ever played.

More units Commanders (with chain gun), etc. I don't remember all the names but there are now up to 6-7 units that you can play with.

Changed the Vanguards By far the cheapest unit in the last game, they aren't as cheap now. mines are a bit easier to see, and the rocket launcher takes a bit longer to reload. good balance on the characters.

More vehicles The mini walkers, more tanks, better design of the speeder bikes, etc. The vehicles rule in this new version.

Doors open and close A small addition that is great. On Kamino and in the death star these little touches are extremely good.

More high/low play You have more opportunities to use the high ground, or to run up and down hills than the last game which seemed to focus on straight combat.

The bad :

You have to earn the right to play with new characters This means that the better player, who puts in more time, will not only be better overall, but will have a more diverse selection of playable characters. I don't necessarily like this.

Less AI units in online play I didn't see a single AI last night in about 3 hours of play on 5-6 different servers. I like killing AI's.

HORRIBLE TEXT on honors screen I have a 32" HDTV and I use top notch equipment and this stuff is still blurry. Unacceptable.

No Bespin These two were my favorite maps and I understand they aren't on the new game. I might play BF1 just to play down the hallways in bespin.

Anyway, this game is CLEARLY superior the old game in most every way, and anyone who says differently is just complaining to complain.

Honest reviews on Star Wars Battlefront II - PlayStation 2

Star Wars Battlefront II is a great sequel to a wonderful game. Numerous game balance issues have been remedied, and new features bring interesting challenges.

First, the basic premise. This game is all about massive scale battles on pretty much any location thought of in the Star Wars universe. You can run around the streets of Tattoine, jumping from sandstone building to building, mowing down rebel forces. You can explore Hoth, fighting off the snow. Even the meteorite featured for a few seconds when Padme gave birth is here.

With this wealth of locations, you also get a huge selection of unit types. There are traditional stormtroopers, snowtroopers, sandtroopers. You get jawas and tuskan raiders. You can even play as a jedi for a short period of time, to give your team an edge.

There are all sorts of game modes to play in. There's Galactic Conquest which gives you a giant galaxy map of the planets, and you move fleets of ships across them, taking on one planet at a time. Your aim of course is to take them all over. There's cool games like capture the flag and hunt, for quick, fun gameplay.

I love the fact that the world is so in depth. For example, you can be flying your shuttle in space, dodging laser bullets from other ships, with a planet spinning below. If you fly your shuttle into an enemy ship, you can actually hop out and start running around IN the ship, shooting out the troops. You can even attack the systems of the ship like the shields and engines to damage the ship. In the background you can see other battles going on, giving your actions an epic feel.

It's important to note that this is not an EASY game. There is a lot to learn here. You can switch characters on the fly, earn points to unlock items, earn bonusses mid-game to upgrade weapons, and much more. It's really key to do the training missions and understand how this all works.

The graphics are really stunning. The textures on the building, the character models, the general look and feel of each world, was clearly done with an eye to detail. The sound is equally good, providing the original sound styles from the Star Wars world to draw you in to the environment.

Highly, highly recommended!

I know that most people arent really "in" to star wars but even if you havent seen the movies you will love this game. It has everything that you would want in a videogame; great graphics, awesome gampeplay, exciting levels, and awesome guys killing people with lightsabershow can it get any better.

The first one was Etremely fun and i reccomend you buy it if you dont have enough money to buythe second one or if you wan to get useto the gameplay.

The Improvements of this game from the first one are fantastic You can finally be the Jedi you always envied in the first one and you can fight in space. The gammay get a little tedious to some people but if that ever happens go to instant action and play as a jedi.

You can play Star Wars and fight in all of the enemys aspects of the war and all of the allies aspects. The 501st Legion is a great addition to the first one when you get to play as Darth Vaders most cherished Troopers and instead of doing the same old conques you have certain objectives to achieve in order to win. The 501st legions gameplay is based on one man and all that they had to go through.

It is the must have game of the YEAR!!!!!!
