I don't quite know how to describe how great this game really is...I just sat down for 15 hours straight and couldn't put the controller down until the end of the credits. This game combines everything and anything you could ever want in a movie, a game or any entertainment experience. Uncharted 2 has incredible characters, wonderful story, some of the best acting I've ever seen (Not just the voice acting, but the actual animations of the characters, their facial expressions), everything is done so beautifully I'm absolutely speechless. Among Thieves exceeded the hype in my mind, it immerses you in this incredibly detailed and lush environment, seamlessly bouncing you back and forth from gameplay to breathtaking cinematic wonder, and most often, combines them both at the same time. Just the attention to detail is astounding. I wish I had a better vocabulary so I could give this review justice but you should just see for yourself! You will not regret this purchase one bit, the multiplayer is even fun! If you own a PS3 and don't have this game, then you should sell your PS3.

I'm sure if you're reading this you've already read countless other reviews praising the game for it's superb voice acting, mind blowing graphics, wonderful story telling, and it's riveting gameplay. I'm only writing this to enforce all of these things and hopefully tip you over the fence into buying this game immediately. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves contains almost every element that was in the first and improves upon it. For those of you who haven't played the first game it is essentially Gears of War meets Tomb Raider + Awesomeness all rolled into one. For those of you who did play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune you're all too aware of how short the first game was and I'm pleased to tell you that this game is substantially worth it. Not only does it last about 3-4 hours longer buy it features something to do when you're done, multiplayer. The multiplayer is essentially what you'd expect from Call of Duty 4 with and a 3rd person twist and several unique modes to shake up the formula. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is like buying a three entree plate from Panda Express. It leaves you completely full and satisfied and although you'd happily enjoy another serving of Orange Chicken you can leave the restaurant knowing you got what you paid for. Buy this game and enjoy it because although it's built upon the qualities of other games, there's really nothing out there quite like it.

I promise to make this 100% Spoiler free, but I must say that after experiencing that which is Uncharted 2, this game is pretty solid indeed. If you enjoyed the first Uncharted then this one will be an extremely enjoyable experience. This game lasts more than 2-4 hours longer than the previous one, tops the cake for having some of the best cinematics, graphics, and sound experience offered on the PS3.

One of the features that I was a bit weary about was the multiplayer because I do not really consider myself a multiplayer fan, however, I must say that that which is in Uncharted 2 is enough to last those who just like multiplayer games a long time. There doesnt seem to be anyway to do offline multiplayer however, for an experience online (with up to 3 player co-op), and about 10 people in the deathmatch modes, there is little to crave. It seems that they developed an amazing Single player experience and added a great multiplayer experience.

Ultimately, with a heartpounding action packed story, a landmark presentation value, and exciting multiplayer and single player modes, I can not really find anything to criticize the game for. (well perhaps the most criticism would be the amount of logo's on the back of the boxart, or even the at times difficulty of AI).

One more thing, the game has trophy support, headset support, (upcoming twitter support), a multiplayer shop system (to buy skins, and boosts), future DLC, and unlockables.

Please add this game to your PS3 library.

Honest reviews on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Playstation 3

It's been a couple of weeks since the bomb that is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has dropped. Did you get caught in its blast? Or have you avoided its fallout? If you have then I say what the hell are you waiting for?? Go get contaminated!

It's not all the time a game like Uncharted 2 comes around. A game that will say hello to you, then grab you by the neck and slam you around the room a few times, stop, then kiss you a bit and get you all emotionally connected only to take your lips 2 minutes later and tuck them between your legs and pull them up over your ass so fast it'll make your head spin right off your neck. Ok, so that won't literally happen, but if you were to take that energy, passion, climactic intensity, and overall jaw dropping action and crush it all up into one neat little ball of beauty, power, and downright coolness, then you my friend might as well call that little ball Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

You should know the story by now. You're the hero, who goes on a journey of personal fulfillment, only to find yourself in a situation where you have to save to world. It may sound big scale because it is. The way the game starts equals that of most Hollywood blockbusters. And know, that it does not let up.

From start to finish all you will find yourself doing is sitting on the edge of your seat wanting more and more. It has been said that this is not a game, but more like an interactive movie. The nail couldn't have been hit more dead on. The way the story rolls with sequences that take control for seconds at a time and are so fluid you don't even realize you're back in control of the character are amazing to watch. The timing of the action, the dialogue, the scenery, there is absolutely nothing small about this game and it let's you know that with every shoot out, car explosion and helicopter chase. The level of detail from a murky jungle to the ruins of a lost city, would be done no justice by explaining them with nothing but simple words. The character designs, not just the way they look, but their attitudes, their demeanor, the way they act and the things they do, all will leave you loving, hating, laughing and mourning with every step they take, every thing they do and every word they say.

There are moments where you're hurt and can't run at full speed. Moments where you'll be dragging someone around and you feel it in the way you walk, you feel the tense moments of trying to shoot someone with your one free hand. It's almost as if the people of Naughty Dog sat down and asked what would be the most over the top things to experience in a game? And amazingly, without a lack of polish, or quality, they managed to have you saying "no effing way, did that just happen?!" over and over again.

Now, being over the top is not necessarily a good thing. But when it's scripted moments that when thought about, you can actually see happening in the given situation, then over the top is definitely a good thing. Thinking realistically, the outcome may not always be the hero coming out unscathed, but then again, like I said, this is a Hollywood blockbuster type game. So don't expect anything less.

Now, as far as negatives go. It really is hard to sit and look for something bad in something so good. But being on the last leg of my second playthrough of this averaged 10-12 hour game, I can honestly say there is almost nothing I can point out and say this is a flaw. I'd love to sit here and say there is but there really isn't. The only solitary thing I noticed on my second playthrough is the issue of trying to take cover on a wall when it is right next to another wall. The proximity of the two walls make it a little difficult to attach yourself to the one you want to if you're not looking at it at the right angle and it can leave you open for a serious hurting at the wrong time. But like I said, that was noticed on my second playthrough so it's not even really a problem or issue, more of a gripe. Other than that there are people who will nit pick and say something wasn't rendered right or say that's B.S., that can't ever really happen, but when it comes down to it, as far as gameplay, mechanics, background environments, and story go, this package is virtually flawless. The flaws of the first game have been fixed and improved upon, the animation is on point and like I said, the characters make you feel like you know them. I can promise you, if you enjoy playing video games, and enjoy a story driven experience then there is nothing that will stop you from loving this game.

Now, as far as multiplayer goes, I've given my impressions on it before. You can find it here: . And it all still stands. The multiplayer mode of this single player monster was always worried about. But in the end it turned out to be a solid piece of work that surprised a lot of people. It's fun, it's addicting, easy to get used to and full of things to unlock and use. It captures the essence of the single player experience amazingly well and you can't help but feel like you walked out of the store buying 2 games for the price of 1. The only problem with the multiplayer is that more than likely, by the time you read this, a monstrous behemoth of the multiplayer world known as Modern Warfare 2 would have came out. And no matter how amazingly great the multiplayer of Uncharted 2 is, there are few that will be able to contend with the likes of what Infinity Ward is going to bring to the online table. And it's because of that fact this aspect of the game will be considered a lost gem for online players in the near future.

Ok. You've seen the videos, you've read the reviews, and heard the praise. I'm telling you nothing different. Since day one I've had the pleasure of enjoying Uncharted 2 and couldn't be happier. I know this is more of a commercial than a review but it is so hard not to love this game, and even harder to find something wrong with it. Everything I've said is as close to the truth as I know it. There are honestly no games out there that I can say I've completed and not 5 minutes later, started all over again just for fun. The replay value is grand with 100 collectible treasures cleverly scattered throughout the game. Trophies with matching in-game medals that will net you money to spend on their little storefront where you can buy behind the scenes movies, and various items that you can use and apply to a very robust multiplayer if Modern Warfare 2 isn't your thing.

All in all Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is thee must buy for any Playstation 3 owner. Sure, you can rent it, just be warned that by the time you finish it, or maybe even start it, you're going to be wishing you didn't have to send it back and that it was all yours to play whenever you want. This is what gaming is all about. This is why I have a passion for my hobby. And it is the reason why I love my PS3 again.

On my rating scale, I give this experience a stunning:

5 Water Bottles Full of Pee, out of 5.... (that scale should be self explanatory)

This is one of those games that will keep you glued to your TV for hours until you manage to beat it or your bladder explodes, whatever happens first.

Right from the start it will submerge you into its world of friendship, adventure, action, betrayal, mystery, and love. The heroes are so likable that you wish they were real so you could go have a beer with them.

But the story is not the only thing that shines, the graphics are just breath-taking and the controls are very responsive. This time around I enjoyed the stealth sections.

And I'm only talking about the single-player campaign. I was afraid multiplayer would be an after-thought, yet the Dogs managed to create a very solid and entertaining experience, not to mention addictive.

But enough blah blah blah, if you like great games get off your chair right now and go buy it!... You're welcome :)

I know a lot of gamers are getting tired of the same old and oft-repeated WW2 shooters. But the criticisms I've heard about this game hardly seem justified. The graphics are crisp with good frame rates and smooth play. The AI soldiers seem to react in a far more efficient and realistic manner. Also there are some great new wrinkles.

Two new features I love are the character and weapon development. The idea of incorporating character skill development into a WW2 shooter is fantastic, and while things like weapon upgrades aren't--of course--very realistic, they add an enjoyable new dimension to the gameplay. Also, parachuting into combat is really cool.

So far, I've found the control layout to be smooth and efficient--not always a given with this series. Another plus is the far less linear nature of the missions and combat. Instead of simply moving from point A to B and so on, you're generally just given a set of mission objectives and then left to work them out on your own--with far more opportunity for using terrain and flanking options to achieve success.

All in all, a very satisfying purchase and the first true next-gen WW2 shooter.

Medal of Honor Airborne for the Xbox 360 is a WWII First Person Shooter (FPS). I have been a long time fan of the Medal of Honor series ever since I played the first one on the old Playstation system. I even enjoyed the European Assualt title and thought that the fire fights were a lot more intense than the ones in Airborne. Don't get me wrong this is a next gen game, but the matter of fact is that WWII games have been done to death. With so many great titles out there within the same genre, Airborne does not push the concept far enough to win over the competition. You are still fighting on with the same assortment of weapons (pistols, submachine guns, assualt rifles, sniper, bazzooka and a few others) you are still fighting the nazi regime, you are still running through houses for close combat and fighting outdoors in the countryside for long range combat. You are still fighting inside trenches and on top of bridges.

In order to bring something new into gameplay the creators of Airborne made the game into "open world" level maps. You begin each mission with a briefing of objectives, weapons selection followed by you jumping off a plane with a parachute. And this is where the open world concept is used; you can land anywhere on the battlefield map and engage the enemy in close combat or snipe them from afar. It is not linear like most FPS that force you to go along path to advance through the level. The way to advance in Airborne is to kill enemy germans in any of the battles taking place at the same time. If you leave an area of battle and head to a different part of the map, you will encounter more enemies and alllied bots engaging in battle.

Since there are mini battles taking place all over the map, this lets you devise a strategy for flanking enemy positions and sometimes even coming up behind them to gun them down. You can also land on roofs of houses and go jumping from one roof to the next while shooting down at the enemy positions on the ground levels. You can pick up ammo and switch to weapons dropped by dead enemies. Although you use the same basic WWII weapons found in most FPS, Airborn lets you upgrade your weapons the more you use it by killing enemies. You can get faster reloads, steady aim, bigger ammo clip and a few surprise attachements.

I know that I will get a lot of flak for this (pun intended), but even with its open world design and upgradeable weapons, MOH Airborne, did not meet my expectations for a next gen title. There are no destructible objects, multiplayer is boring, and the missions do not get my adrenaline pumping up. There is just nothing remarkable about it to justify me purchasing yet another WWII shooter when, Call of Duty is still more intense and immersive than Airborne. And consider the fact the COD is an older title.

Pros:

+open world maps

+excellent controls

+excellent music

+cool weapon upgrades

+ragdoll physics

+detailed statistics and leaderboards

Cons:

-Not as intense as COD

-another WWII shooter

-no vehicles to drive

-boring multiplayer

-weak missions in single player

Medal of Honor: Airborne is the latest game in the Medal of Honor franchise and ever since it was announced, I was looking forward to it and now that it's out, was it worth the wait? It depends on weather or not your into WWII games.

There is a new twist on this as you jump out of a plane and land wherever the hell you want. Of course, this is a good and bad thing as you control where to land(always try to lend near the green smoke) though if you don't, you might be DOA because if you want to be a daredevil and land in enemy territory, the Germans will shoot as soon as you land(botched landings won't give you time to fire).

As for the gameplay itself, the AI is pretty smart. They will come chasing after you even if you cower in the corner like a little girl. There is a new way of destroying tanks as well. Gammon gernades must be found and they do A LOT of damage to the tanks but also to any German who might be in your way as well as your own men.

Airborne is not an easy game even with the easy difficulty. Prepare to die many times. The AI is smart as are your men(though sometimes they don't follow you).

Overall, there are a total of six missions including once again Operation Market Garden and the last part of this mission is a direct rip off of Call of Duty: Roads to Victory (if you played it you know what I am talking about).

All in all, Medal of Honor: Airborne is a game you should get if your a fan of the series or just plain WWII games. And though it is fairly short, it should keep you busy until Call of Duty 4 is released.

Honest reviews on Medal of Honor Airborne - Xbox 360

Medal of Honor: Airborne was supposed to be released over a year ago! After the unsuccessful Rising Sun and European Assult, I honestly was not expecting much from EA Games, though I purchased the game because I'm interested in the series.

From the get-go in the plane before the first mission, one notices the superior graphics and attention to historical accuracy and detail. The ability to jump out of the plane and choose where you start the battle is simply awesome. The artificial intelligence is of the highest caliber. The game advertises that you never play the same mission the same way; they're right. You may land in the same spot twice and find that your enemy has changed position and can flank you. What's nice about this is you're actually thinking rather than automatically moving through the map shooting helpless opponents.

My only "problem" with this game is that later in playing, one opposes a "Nazi Storm Elite" soldier who is dressed in the black Schutzstaffel uniform, wearing body armor and is walking around with a MG-42 in his hands! While elite troops within the ranks of the S.S., called "Viper Troops", wore armor and were far superior to their Werhmacht counterparts, they become too frequent in the final mission and unfortunately resemble the "bosses" in either Wolfenstein 3D or Medal of Honor: European Assult. However, the satisfaction of overcoming them is quite enjoyable!

This game is terrific! The graphics are unbelievable, music is from Michael Giaochinno from MOH: Frontline, so there is that connection between the two strongest games in the series. I can't reccomend this game high enough. It's a must have!

Forget Call of Duty 3. Forget scripted blah blah blah missions. Forget endless waves of drone enemies who will let you destroy divisions of them if only you had the ammo. Airborne is fantastic! Non linear boards, intelligent enemy, great weapons, beautiful looks and sound...this game has anything you would want in a WW2 shooter. I was hesitant on the upgradeable weapons, but the upgrades are all genuine components like forward pistol grips (we call them "Ghetto Grips" in the Army today), improved muzzle breaks, better sights, larger magazines, and the ability to fire a limited number of rifle grenades off some. No death rays or anything stupid like that. Very well done game. It can be quite challenging, and patience is a must in this. You can't run and gun your way to Berlin. Ill make the suggestion right off, jump with the 1903 Sniper Rifle on every mission, ditch it for a Garand or whatever else, and come back and get it when you need it. That was the only way I could get through some of those boards. Really though, it was an excellently done game that reminded me quite a bit of Band of Brothers. No moronic squad stuff, no linear missions, no "I didn't want to be here" feeling sorry for myself garbage like in the Company of Heroes. Great and challenging shooter that will not disappoint.

Headset looks and feels great. These are basically the Ear Force Z6A pc headphones with mw3 theme. I just wanted to make sure any future buyers that plan on using for xbox360 understand that you have to go to turtlebeach.com and buy their xbox cable kit for 20 + shipping in addition to the cost of the headphones. I was really wanting to use these today and being that amazon does not sell the cables or the kit, I have to wait for turtle beach to process and ship which could be 7 more days. Will add more to this review once I get to actually use them.

Edit: Cable kit through turtle beach is on back order. Going to return.

Bought these about a month ago. And it's an unfortunate contradiction. It's like the headphones were made by two different manufacturers.

I'll start with the ear cups. They're great. They feel solid, they sound good, they're very comfortable, and the surround sound, while not something amazing, is definitely as describedit does sound better than stereo. The feature that some people have had trouble with, how the microphone always plays back what it picks up, isn't much of an issue like I thought it would bethere's no delay, and turning the mic off disables it obviously. Another issue is legitimate: the length of cord between the amplifier and the headset leaves it hanging off your head uncomfortablythere's really no good place to put it when it's that short.

The ear cushions are superbWhen I first got them I had them on for at least 6 consecutive hours that day and there was no discomfort, no sweaty ears, no glasses digging into my head.

Let's get to the bad, and why this is two stars.

Everything above the earcups is trash. The articulations for the ear cups and where those attach to the headband are made of brittle, weak plasticin a place that is under spring loaded tension and continuous stress when the product is in use. Needless to say, they failed at those points. I figured it was a fluke, and epoxied it back together. It broke again, in a different placeI will be able to fix them but it's going to take some ingenuity as the spot they broke is extremely thinthe stem of the ball joint that allows them to lay flat against your shoulders when you take them off your head. And I expect once I fix that the same thing will happen on the other side.

Seriously turtle beach, wherever you get this plastic, stop doing business with them. Those parts NEED to be reinforced significantly.

These are the only real surround sound headphones available for under $100(aside from the identical turtle beach Z6a that this is a rebranding of), so you may want to get them. But when you order these make sure and also order some jb weld so you can fix them when the plastic comes apart.

I purchased this headset "Used" through Amazon's Warehouse. What a great program. It's like a scratch and dent sale and with Prime, I was offered next day delivery for like $3!!! The product arrived in great shape exactly as described as a "repackage" which in my case was an original box with the seals broken and then taped with a circular Amazon Warehouse sticker to reseal the box. All the parts and the literature were included even the sticker!

As for the headset itself, this is my first Turtle Beach product and having come from a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Arena which at the two year mark decided to break off at the ear cup, I am not at all unhappy. The first thing that I noticed is the feel of the unit in your hands. It has a solid feel, like it's built well. The teaser graphics you will see that make the unit look like it is glowing green. This is not the case the knife "logo" from CODMW3 is in green but its real thin lined and almost not visible. On the other side is a small Turtle Beach graphic where the microphone attaches that is also in the same green and that's about it for the "green" *Bummer. The padding for the ears is unique. The material is not unlike the upholstery in my truck. Half rugged but smooth. I have a small, bald head and it is not irritating to me in the least. The shape of the cups is like a long oval. The top band is padded with just enough padding and embossed with "Call Of Duty" on the top. The microphone is also unique. It looks a bit like a fat bendy straw that's grey only with more rigidity than a straw even. It picks up my voice even with a box fan and a ceiling fan in the room. *Nice

The cord looks professional, and durable, having a mesh fabric feel not unlike old fashion wiring. The cord from the headset transitions into what resembles an "S-Video" male to female connection that transitions into the dongle. The dongle is branded with the Call Of Duty logo and looks somewhat "Military" but the plastic used doesn't feel like that at all unfortunately. It has a cheap, rattle when you shake it quality. The function of it is an on/off switch for the entire headset with total volume control, then rotary dials for each of the channels volume control. There is also a X-Box adapter port (don't know, don't care as I am a PC gamer) and a microphone mute slide button. The cord continues and ends to a set that has the 3 speaker cables (Green, Black, Orange) and 1 Mic Cable (pink). There is also a USB connection that is for power for the dongle/headset. Next we come to the interesting part. The unit ships with a splitter that allows you to plug both the headset AND your existing speakers into your sound card which in my case is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music paired with a Creative Labs P7800 7.1 Speaker set. The good part is, because you are using your existing sound card no drivers are required.

The bad part is... The splitter they give you will not pass 7.1 only 5.1 so you lose your surround speakers. Not a huge deal but worthy of a note as I pulled my hair out for about 3 hours uninstalling and reinstalling the Creative Labs drivers thinking something got corrupted or I had a plug in the wrong port of something.

In the box they also include a small get started guide containing install diagrams for different setups in 8 languages. They also include a single sheet marketing thing with a CODMW3 Logo on one side and a download code to go to a special Turtle Beach Download site. The link then redirects you to another link where you register. Registering is easy. Email address and password then next page for download code, birth date and what headset you purchased with a captcha code to submit. All of the software listed is for Delta or Bravo headsets and of no use to us. *Bummer? There is a section for a 40% off code for Turtle Beach clothing and some wallpaper and screensavers for phone, pc and tablet. And that's about it.

So to summarize this is a pretty rockin headset for the money. A couple of not so great things such as the lack of some cool software, a better, more rugged dongle and the issue with the splitter but all in all I would highly recommend this product.

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Call of Duty: MW3 Ear Force Charlie: Limited Edition

I've got the X41 and I thought the multi speaker/driver design of the Charlie would improve the sound quality. From the marketing point of view it sounded like it should each driver in your ear represents a proper speaker. But in reality it doesn't work well the smaller drivers are pretty much tweeters size drivers so you are asking these drivers to produce full blown sounds also ie. explosions etc. and they don't do a good job of it. I didn't appreciate the X41 until i got the Charlie the charlie sounded painful to the ears (i tried to 'burn' them in over a couple of days but they were still painful). This is audiophile talk the charlie sounded more brittle and had a harder sound compared to the so very mellow and comfortable X41.

THe Charlie also had very poor sound location capability you'll hear the same sounds but in the X41 you can tell the footsteps behind the fence is at your back. With the Charlie it's just footsteps in the side.

And the controller is the worst i've seen there are no detents to set you settings the wheels all free float. YOu can't save a favourite settins as the wheels will move when u touch them maybe if u like a particular settins u might tape the wheel down that's the only way.

I didn't enjoy the Charlie and sold it off for a song. My lesson is that these multi speakers/driver headset don't sound as good as one single high quality driver/speaker.

Wore these headphones with consistent use for about 3 months. I brought them to a couple lans just threw them in a bag, dropped them lightly on the ground from time to time. havent done anything to them in a few weeks now and just now, like 5 minutes ago, the plastic on the right earcup 'harness', in the center of that upside down U shapped thing just broke from normal leverage when i pulled both earcups apart about to put them on.

I bought them read a couple of reviews saying the quality was poor, but said, "screw it ill try them out". Having tried them out let me tell you, there are better headphones on the market trust me. These are OK but unless you want these specifically for some reason, try something else, I know I got to go find another headset now, and these will be my first and last turtle beaches.

CONS -

COMFORTABLITY 2/5

First off, -BEWARE THESE ARE UNCOMFORTABLEI've worn soft biaural steelseries 5h's and could keep them on for 3-5 hours before my ears get irritated. These things I clocked it to around 1 to 2 hours of wearing them before my ears hurt.

In fact, maybe the reason they broke was because I had to keep taking them off because I couldn't stand to have them on for long periods. They are pretty heavy and they just smash together and sag on your ears, and the stiff headband doesn't help. Don't know why I was so surprised at how much I didn't like the feel of these.

STYLE 2/5

Second, they look pretty awful, if you look at someone wearing this they look pretty ugly, like its disproportional big size is border line awkward. One thing for sure you will get 0 style points with these on. Plus the mic looks bulky and weird.

SOUND 3/5

They are legitimate 5.1 headset which is pretty cool, but I would recommend not to buy these because that reason and let me tell you why. I don't even know what 5.1 does that my sound card + stereo doesnt. I tried changing the settings in mw3 to 5.1 but honestly stereo sounds pretty much the same.So pretty much 5.1 capable sounds cool but thats as far as I'd go with it.

PROS some things they did right. The cord is good quality, it's detachable at a really good length for wearing portably(god forbid you want to go in public with these on). I liked the big master volume knob on the inline control, but then you have 5 other different controls for like bass, front, rear stuff. Mic was crystal clear. Although when adjusting it it makes this creaking sound that everyone hears loud.

Bottom line, If all you want is good sound or like xbox support these arent bad, but with the poor quality alone I wouldn't recommend these to anyone because they WILL break and whats the point of good sound if theyre broken.

Perfect for setting up or logging on to xbox. My son is envious. The best part is typing extra words to make sure this fills up the area, like doing an essay or something.

Last year's Call of Duty Finest Hour was a totally new game, using a similar engine to Medal of Honor on the consoles. It didnt feel like the PC game in any respects really. People who complained then, will now be totally happy. Big Red One not only looks fantastic (near PC graphics), it feels and plays just as great as it's PC brothers. I feel a hint of Medal of Honor European Assault every once and awhile but this game is far more polished and thought out. The storyline is a major draw in, offering some great character moments. I read some of the guys that starred in the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers do some voice work in the game, however I haven't picked up on it quite yet, although I've got some ideas. On thing is for certain...Mark Hammil (star of Big Red One movie from 1981) narrates this epic game and does a very nice job. I recently bought Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood for xbox aswell and if your asking me to make a buying decision for you I'd say...

1. Big Red One is more run and gun, Earned in Blood is tactical.

2. This game is far more family friendly, Earned in Blood ISN'T.

3. Both games offer unique gameplay and are both worth 50 bucks.

If your looking for a rich new experience that has the polish of a great PC game, please do yourself a favor and buy this game. There are at least 5 WWII themed games coming out for the Holidays this year and Big Red One is diffenetly a winner. The A.I. is revolutionary for a console game offering such epic action scenes. The weapons are standard fare in a WWII game, but are more enjoyable than ever, seeming more powerful. Levels are diverse and I was thouroly impressed with each one, the D-Day beach landing is a very special thing for me in this game as it was the recreation of this scene in Medal of Honor Frontline that sucked me into the WWII franchise. Activision and Tyrench's take on the greatest invasion of all time is incredibley intense. And yes I have managed to cruise through the game very fast. The Battle of the Bulge, as well as the early Africa levels are great, as are the Normandy levels (its just Normandy has been used so many times in videogames) The ending levels in Germany are very fun and you feel such a great sense of accomplishment after beating the game, which should take 12 to 14 hours. 10 out of 10. Thanks for reading.

If your like me, you saw the medal of honor franchise stagnating, not exactly in decline, but there was little forward movement. Then along came Call of Duty Finest Hour. Wow. Well if you liked Finest Hour but didnt see what else could be done, look no further than Big Red One, which takes gamers into chapters of WW2 history that many people sadly dont know. Beginning in 1942, Two years before D-Day, and thus two years before any previous WW2 video game, this game brings the gamer, with the same squad of characters through the entire European theater, from the First clashes against the Vichy French in Algeria, to clashes with Afrika Korp and Italians in Tunisia. Unlike other games Africa is not merely a small two level affair, BRO gives it the sense of importance it deserves with over a quarter of the game happening there. Then its off to Sicily where you help knock Italy out of the war. I especially enjoyed fighting the Italians for a change, new weapons, vehicles and such. Once you get to France you realize just how tenacious the Germans are, and the game progressivly gets more challanging until you reach Germany itself. Definitely an amazing perspective, and a more realistic one. The average soldier did not, as Medal of Honor would tell you, end up in the OSS blowing up endless secret german or japanese weapons behind enemy lines, they would in fact be fighting inch by inch with their squad for the duration, and thats what stays with you when you finish this game, the sense of how long and hard the war was on the average soldier. Knowing that for the guys who landed in Algeria in 42, the odds were against them living to see the war end in 45

Call of Duty: Big Red One is a solid WWII-based first-person shooter with tight controls and a convincing marriage of scripted cinemas and dynamic action. With bullets whizzing by, planes soaring overhead, and explosions rocking the battlefield, the game definitely captures the intensity of war that up until recently was only duplicated in movies. Sure enough, it's during these frantic moments, which are plentiful, that gamers will find themselves fully captivated and entertained.

But the experience is still not perfect. In its attempt to direct the action as it would a movie, the developer has either by design or by accident compromised the non-linear structure of levels and I think that is a mistake. I understand the choice, but in my experience it has at least partly backfired. The go-anywhere freedom associated with conventional FPSs is not in Big Red One. Players are sometimes unmistakably limited to set paths and running into invisible barriers occasionally breaks from the immersive true-world presentation that the title aspires to deliver. It's not a make or break shortcoming -the game is still fun -but it is nevertheless a noteworthy frustration.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty 2 Big Red One - Xbox

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a very nice first-person shooter. You start out as a private in the divsion named "Big Red One." You have six other men in your unit, some of whom may save your life, and you may have to save thiers.

This game is very realistic and I could not find any real major flaws with it. The enemy AI is superb and the graphics are certainly up to par, as is the sound effects.

At the start of each mission Sgt. Hawkins, gives you a briefing of what you need to accomplish. From there on out, anything goes. You and your fellow soldiers must find a way to accompish the task. Each mission has its different ways to go about it, and each one is equally as fun as the other.

There is a wide range of weapons in this game, all of which are historically accurate.

The one thing I did not like is that I finished the game in a total of two days. Luckily, I paid only $20 for it, so I suggest to look for it at a lower price because it is not worth $50.

NOTICE: The rating on this game is teen. There is some profanity, but nothing that would be bleeped out or is that serious.

Or is this game just not very challenging at all? Don't get me wrong, I'm very impressed by the storyline, graphics, weapons, etc. But it just seems like it's a little too easy to finish this game. It just seems like it's really hard to die; there's so much available ammo, health packs, and direct hits from MG-42's, grenades, etc. don't really inflict that much damage on you. Does anyone else out there share these thoughts?

I really wanted to give this game 5 stars however some of my family members found it to repetitive. Hotel Transylvania is a fun game for the preteen and early teen to play and us adults that don't have loads of time to learn a game and love simple easy to learn games. I found the graphics to be very good and the game itself is very easy to learn. Anyone can pretty much just sit down and play this right out of the box. It is a standard right and left game much like Mario or Donkey Kong and I have no problems with these games, in fact they are my favorite types of platforms. I find them fun and engaging however others might consider this a negative.

The game features Mavis as she travels around the hotel performing tasks for her father, Count Dracula, and other relatives and hotel visitors. Hotel Transylvania is rated for 10+ but I would say that anyone 8 or older could play this game. The mild violence in the game is just that, very cartoon like and nothing graphic. If not for the repetitive nature of the game, this would be a great game to play due to the great graphics and ease of play. My family and I gave this game a 4 star review.

I love video games. I grew up on NES and N64 and I will murder anyone in Golden Eye on planet earth. That being said it still took me over 5 hours to beat this game. Its perfect for kids as it starts off pretty easy. graphics are great. 3D is cool. music rocks. gameplay is smooth. i was really surprised at this game just figuring its another movie game so it sucks. thats not the case at all. my 7 year old girl plays this all the time and shes 71% through the game. follows the movie to a T which is strange. i would recomend this to any boy or girl 6-12 kids older than that are going to look at it like a kids game, because it is. hope that helps.

My 6 year old daughter loves this game. It's one of her favorite movies and she loves to see these characters get into trouble. Easy for kids and nothing too scary or anything. She always has tons of fun playing. I can't say much about the 3D aspect because we don't let her use the 3D function (she's too young) but she loves it anyway.

I had some problems with fitting the controllers into the glove without them hitting the "B" button and taking me back to the menu screen. You also have to exaggerate your movements to make sure the Wii receiver picks up the signal. Finally, the stance you use playing Wii Boxing is different than real boxing so if you are trying to emulate a cardio boxing class or similar, you will be disappointed.

These gloves are ok, but you DO NOT actually put your hands in the boxing gloves, so I was disappointed. I think if is actually easier to use the remote and nunchuk. These gloves are the most realistic, but again, you cant actually but your hands in them.

First, this review is coming from someone that did not play these games when they originally released. I have, however, played most of the Dragon Ball games released this generation. (except for Raging Blast 2) For those of you that don't know, the Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection is packed with Budokai 1 & 3, NOT the Tenkaichi installments. This HD collection is done well, and packs plenty of content for the price.

The game retells the events of the Dragon Ball Z series. Budokai follows a more traditional storytelling method (w/cutscenes), while Budokai 3 uses the Dragon Universe. Budokai 1 goes up to the final battle with Cell, while Budokai 3 tells the complete story. If you're familiar with the source material, manga or anime, you'll experience many of the memorable events. I should note: the cutscenes and menus are at a 4:3 ratio instead of 16:9 ratio.

The gameplay starts off a bit slow, but as you get a hang of the controls, you'll eventually feel the intensity the series is known for; nothing like lightning fast combos, with a kamehameha to finish! You learn new moves as you progress, and also have the ability to transform in mid-battle. Specifically, X is to punch, Y is to Kick, B is your Ki, and A is to guard. (a bit deeper as you learn, but I won't get too specific.) Both games play as traditional 3D fighters, like Burst Limit.

The graphics are as great as they possibly could be. Remember, these aren't supposed to be full HD remakes like the recent Halo: CE Anniversary. Budokai 1 looks a bit rough, but decent, nonetheless. On the other hand, Budokai 3 looks amazing; the graphics can compete with some of the recent installments in the series and a couple of games released this generation.

A couple of extra notes: neither of these games have online multiplayer, you can, however, play couch multiplayer at home in the versus modes; I purchased this game directly from amazon.com and, for whatever reason, the game came with two instruction manuals (one inside the case and one outside); and, the game has a reversible cover which looks a lot better in my opinion (the other box art is the Budokai 1 and 3 original cover art split in the middle).

If you've played these previously and want a reason to jump back in, then here's an amazing opportunity. If you're a fan of the recent installments of this fighting franchise or the source material, then this game is for you. But, if you're looking for a hardcore fighting game with a deep and complicated fighting system, then you may want to wait for a price drop to give this a try.

Update 11/12/12:

I've completed Budokai's story, including the What-If levels (which are very funny). I did not run into any game-breaking glitches or flaws. The World Tournament mode is a little difficult, but very fun, nonetheless. I've also progressed deeper into Budokai 3, and it doesn't seem like there are any significant glitches in this game, either. (in case you were worried about purchasing a sloppy port/transfer.)

i've been a fan for a long time, i had the first budokai back when it came out for the play station, i have played all budokai's, tenkaichi's, and even other ones like buu's fury, legacy of goku 1 and 2, and sagas, now time for the review

Dragon ball z budokai:

This games was pretty good, when i first got the game i thought it was awesome, but since i've played budokai 3 and raging blast and stuff it didn't bring back as much nostalgia as i was hoping. The graphics are ok, not too awful yet not too great but what more can you expect from a game that was made a long time ago, the story line is very short, it covers the saiyan (sp?) saga, the frieza saga and the android saga, the story line covers only the highlights, i beat the story line in about 2 hours, after the story line, you have to go back and look at the chapters since they add things from the enemy point of view, instead of looking from the traditional goku point of view against vegeta/frieza/cell, it will put you in the enemy perspective and you have to defeat goku, so if you got the hang of the game tack on another 30 minutes or so, after that, you have the world tournament, levels are novice (3 fights), Adept (4 fights)l and advanced (5 fights) win each to get achievements and prize money which you can use to buy items to customize your characters, **spoiler** i just used vegeta and kicked, when he kicks he sends the opponent flying so i just got them by the edge and kicked them out of bounds. now since it only reaches up to the android saga, there's no one from the buu saga besides great saiyaman, no buu, no goten, no trunks, not even adult gohan. there's no movie characters like janemba, cooler, bojack, or broly, so that pretty much sums up the game besides that you can get super sayian for the characters that can use it, but the only character that can go past that is teen gohan due to the cell fight he can go super sayian 2, goku's is kind of ridiculous because you have to go kaokin (sp?) x5 then x10 then x15 then x20 to turn super sayian.

Dragon ball z budokai 2:

THERE IS NO BUDOKAI 2 IN THIS GAME!!

Dragon Ball z Budokai 3:

ahhhhh now this game brought me back some fierce nostalgia, put plan and simple it was awesome, controls are so much easier than the first, (i least i thought so) and the graphics look amazing. Now it doesn't really have a set storyline, you can be goku and go through his major points like vegeta, frieza, cell, and buu, but then you have krillin which will go through vegeta and frieza, and other characters like vegeta, tien, yamcha, kid/teen/adult gohan and a couple others, you fly around a map and go to each destination and fight whoever you need to fight, you can also go looking for dragon balls and unlock new content on your second playthrough of a certain character, so say you're goku, you can go through the main story actually you have to the first time, the second time you can kind of go off track, like instead of fighting frieza you can fight cooler, instead of buu you can fight broly, but you have to explore the areas that aren't regular destinations. all while leveling up your character, there's health, attack, ki, defense, etc. that's how your characters get stronger. After you beat the story with all the characters (Uub and broly included) you can unlock all the characters and fight in the martial arts tournament once again, same levels and same amount of matches as the first budokai, only difference with this one is that they included the cell games as the tournament after the advanced, i personally like it better because there's no ring out, you need to get your opponents health to 0. They also have the red ribbon tower (forgot what it was officially called) where you can put you leveled character and just fight against opponents of multiple levels, you have to go here to unlock 3 main things: Cell games, saibamen, and cell jr, granted the characters aren't very good you still need them to unlock everyone to get an achievement. The part i absolutely love about this game is all the characters, now they don't have janemba or bojack or android 13, but they have all the main characters from each saga, including goku, vegeta, piccolo, gohan kid teen and adult, frieza, cooler, cell, androids 16-20, majin buu fat skinny and kid, broly, uub, trunks kid and future, supreme kai, omega shenron, and a couple more i didn't mention, you can get most of the transformations of each character, goku can go all the way to ss4 as can vegeta, all forms of cell and frieza and majin buu, and you even get fusion for gotenks, vegito, ss gogeta, and my favorite ss4 gogeta. Budokai 3 reminded me of how much i loved dragon ball z and i'm very happy i bought it.

There is no multiplayer for this game but i honestly don't think it needs it, call a friend over and play together, not everything relies on online multiplayer, if there was the achievements would be way harder to get.

The only thing I did not like about this was the fact that Budokai 2 wasn't included... I personally loved it, it had an entirely different feel and that was good, it kept things interesting lol

First off, I won't go into the story. That has already been established via the PC game. What I want to review here is, how well did this make it's translation from PC to Xbox and is it worth if for those who have already played it on PC.

Well, everything you knew and loved in the PC is here, except for on-line multi-player mode. THAT is the one reason this game is rated 4. So, if you've already played the PC version, there is NO reason to pick up this version. However, if you're like me who has a PC that met the bare minimum requirements to play Half-Life 2 on, and you own an Xbox, you can be rest assured you will experience pretty much the same joy as the PC people, except for multiplayer. If you've never played Half-Life 2 before, you are missing out on the experience of a lifetime.

As far as other games converted to XBox from PC are concerned, this is hands-down the BEST conversion yet. Doom 3 from the PC was an awesome translation. The graphics and the atmosphere were excellent. Yet, as beautiful looking and sounding Doom 3 was, it still had a weak point the story line. It just didn't grab you in and make you feel like you were part of the action. And, although you could interact with the environment, it felt more like it was "just there" rather than serving a purpose.

Enter Half-Life 2 on the PC. The game had a story; intrigue, action, suspense, awesome graphics, stupendous sound and an interactive environment that pulled you into the role of a one Gordan Freeman and made you feel like you were part of the action, not just a spectator. The interactive environment served a purpose rather than just some add-on that didn't really give anything back.

The physics engine, which made objects react to forces outside their control, made the game so believable. Bodies would land differently and behave as real dead bodies would. Swings would actually sway side to side rather than just forwards and backwards if you hit them the right way. The objects weren't just there for you to look at and play around with. Many held a purpose to help you further your advancement into the game. For example, in one section of the game, you have a large wall ahead of you and there's just no way to get your airboat over it because there's no ramp in place. But then, you discover that there's a steel grate floating in the water connect to a cage. You start putting floating barrels and canisters underneath the cage and all of a sudden, the steel grate begins to rise into a ramp!

Valve has worked hard on creating an engine for the Xbox that presents the entire PC Half-Life 2 environment on the Xbox with decreased load times! Valve has pulled off what would have appeared to be an impossible feat. Although a high-end PC will cream the Xbox version on looks alone, take into consideration that it would take a PC costing more than $1000 to give you what the Xbox version can do and that alone should tell you that this game is no slouch in looks, sound nor playability. This game is definitely in contention for the Xbox Game of the Year award. The streaming engine they wrote has really improved the game over its PC cousin in that respect.

The controls have mapped nicely to the console. Valve has taken what was a mouse-based game and converted it to the Xbox controller with amazing results. I daresay I think I can play the game BETTER on the Xbox than on the PC.

The D-pad is how you select weapons, just like Doom 3. However, Valve has gone a step further from what the Doom 3 game did. They have stacked the weapons so that you have access to ALL your weapons from the D-pad, not just 4 like in Doom 3. For example, press down once on the D-pad to access the crow bar. If you have the anti-gravity gun, press down again on the D-pad to select it. Press down again, and it cycles back to the crowbar. This works for all the weapons.

The left trigger is your secondary fire while the right trigger is the primary fire. Clicking down on the left analog stick makes you crouch, which clicking down on the right analog stick goes into zoom mode. Click again to get out of zoom. Now, this has caused me some grief in the middle of some intense battles, and believe me, there are some REALLY intense ones in this game. I've inadvertently clicked down on the right stick while trying to look around and fire when I've all of a sudden gone into zoom mode. You can't fire all of your weapons on that mode, so I've been opened to some attacks because of this until I've clicked out of zoom mode, but it's nothing major to cause me to not play the game. But, you can choose from different controller configurations, so you're not limited to the default layout.

You have up to 30 save-game slots to save the game at any time, which is nice compared to some other games that have "save points" (ahem, Halo 1 or 2 anyone?) Many say that it's the limits of the console that cause this, but Halo first came on the Xbox which already had a hard drive. So why didn't Bungy do it that way to begin with? Thank you Valve (and iD) for not copping out on the save game and giving us the option to save at anytime. BTW, I love Halo, so don't think I'm trying to bash it in anyway.

Sound wise, the 5.1 surround sound just immerses you SO deeply into the game, you forget you are in your living room/bedroom and instead find yourself drawn into the action. During the "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" chapter, which is homage to scary movies, I was so drawn into the game I didn't hear my dog come up behind me. When he bumped into me, I screamed and dropped the controller. That is how immersed I was into the game. This would NOT be possible without excellent sound, music, atmosphere, etc. The ambient sound effects really set the tone for each level.

Valve rewrote the engine to help stream between levels better and they have been able to decrease the loading times between levels to less than 10 seconds. This, along with everything else, attests to the quality work Valve has put into ensuring that this release of Half-Life 2 would allow those who don't have computers to experience what many have already had the pleasure of playing over a year ago. Graphically, you can't complain. This is the BEST looking Xbox game to date. The outside environments are awesome, while indoors can feel SO claustrophobic, you want to scream because you feel so closed in. Again, you ARE Gordan Freeman, not just a spectator.

It's a shame they couldn't give us an on-line mode and downloadable content. Since there is a new HL2 level out for the PC, it's a shame we won't get to see it on Xbox, unless they decide to release a NEW version (groan!) later on.

All in all, if you haven't played HL2 and/or don't have the PC power to play it, get this game. Otherwise, if you already have it or have a PC with enough oomph to run it, get the PC version.

In any case, this is a game to add to your collection.

Now, where did I put that crowbar?

The only way to give the XBOX version of this game less than five stars is to have played the PC version of the game. I've read reviews (Gamespot specifically) that talk about near abysmal framerate/slowdown drops... to the point of freezing the system. that's cold, man. and, umm, dead wrong. I have a feeling someone over there reviewed an unfinished product. The game is not flawless. It does have load times every so often (7-10 seconds) but not as bad as Gamespot says (20-40 second load times). I question the validity of what they were reviewing. I've never played FPS on PC and I don't doubt it's better. But I understand to play Half Life 2 on a PC fluidly requires thousands in upgrades, etc. It's just not worth it to me. That's a lot of beer I could be drinking, money to be gambling.

Anyway, Half Life 2 is just SUCH a playable game. The environments are really stunning. It starts in a train station where you soon learn that this world is throat under boot, a completely fascist regime with civilians walking thoughtlessly like escape psyche ward patients. You'll soon learn that Gordon Freeman, YOU, has a head on his shoulders and is respected among an underground resistance group. This game oozes similarities to dystopian society of Oceania in Orwell's 1984. The enemy in the game, similar to 1984, is a faceless totalitarian one. You'll see resistance posters on crumbling walls. You'll feel the burdens of this decadent society. Moreso, You'll feel respected when people recognize you as Gordon Freeman, the hero.

I can't say enough for the enviroments. They are so well rendered, such a great world create, to experience it slowly.. EXPLORING is not a chore... Taking your time is what you'll want to do, to enjoy the visuals that have been so well-crafted.

A big part of this has to do with the putty-like "structure" of the levels, IE the ability to interact with 99% of object on the screen. Breeaking windows and smashing tables never gets old. It's fun to throw garbage everywhere, stack a bunch of crap. And many times you'll need to.

The acting and sound in this game is extremely well done. It's a relief to come across safe havens with friends excited to see you. Gets you away from the intense action for a little bit, sometimes giving you better weapons.

The controls of the game are very good, right up there with Halo, Halo 2, Doom 3 on the Xbox. Weapon switching is done via directional pad... It's just real easy to get a feel for.

To wrap it up, the Xbox version of Half Life 2 deserves five stars. It's not gonna be a best seller and it's going to suck to geeks with PCs. It will appeal to drinkers/stoners alike who take their vices too seriously to spend that much money on a good PC. Yet these creatures of myth also respect the opinions of PC gamers. I respect a PC gamers opinion. Why? Because they do spend all that much money on their hardware. If they rave girlishly about something, I listen. But I don't have a great PC like them. I have an Xbox. You know where my money goes otherwise.

Best Deals for Half Life 2 - Xbox

if ever there was a reason to own an xbox, half-life 2 is that reason. let me begin by throwing you some details-

half life 2 is a port of the pc hit of the same name that blew pc gamers and critics away last year. ports of pc games are usually edited in some way to fit on consoles due to memory, framerate, graphics, etc.... half life 2 is ported to xbox in its ENTIRETY! the fact that valve (hl2's creators) were able to do this is reason for applause not only because of making this happen from a tech perspective, but because people without high-end computers can now experience this awesome, immersive and frightening world!

half-life 2 takes place some time after the events of the original, throwing main character Gordon Freeman into an almost Orwellian world where human beings are herded from one place to another like cattle to benefit an unknown means. Gordon is instantly recognized by an underground resistanceand hours of interactive story, brilliant graphics, awesome characters, and visceral action unfold.

half-life 2 is unbelievably immersive for four very important reasons:

#1. Physics. shooting a window, breaks a window. placing a crate on the edge of a table will cause gravity to take over and make the box fall to the floor. shooting a spike through an enemy close enough to a wall will cause him to stick to that wall indefinitely. Valve then goes the extra distance by giving you the GRAVITY GUN! to put into words what this gun can do will never do it justicesuffice it to say, that after using the gravity gun, a can of paint can become a lethal weapon.

#2. Real Digital Actors. Valve has done the greatest job of emulating real human emotions, by using real actors. Nothing is forced yet nothing is static. Most games have cut-scenes. Cut-scenes are basically movie snippets that help to tell the story and give meaning to the objectives present in the game. Although graphically appealing, cut-scenes are not in-game, meaning that you have absolutely no interactivity once the cut-scene starts until it ends. half-life 2 has absolutely NO cut-scenes and relies solely on it's digital actors to move the story along.

#3. Gordon Freeman Does Not Speak. You, the player, becomes this character. Gordon is entirely a blank slate for you to obsess. Gordon is placed in a situation where he/you must react on instinct to other characters, environments, and situations. Throughout half-life 2 Gordon Freeman will have no crappy one-liners unless you, the player, shouts them out while being immersed in the game.

#4. Incredible A.I. there is never a point in half-life 2 where the enemy A.I. (artificial intelligence) just stands in one place waiting for you to shoot it. enemy's dodge, find cover, and even throw grenades at you. the enemy will flank, assess situations, and do whatever it can to take you out.

i could go on and on about other aspects of half-life 2 that set it apart from the crop of other shooters out there, but if the aforementioned facts don't sell you, nothing will. Half-Life 2 is a must have title for any hardcore gamers.

onto the negatives.

no game will ever be perfect, and in my many years of gaming have come to the conclusion that it all comes down to what you will tolerate. as far as i'm concerned, Half-life 2 is as close to perfection as gaming gets, yet here are some flaws that might be of nuisance to "other" gamers:

1. slight hiccups in framerate.

2. team a.i. towards the later levels tends to get in the way.

3. high-end computer owners have absolutely no reason to purchase this game, same goes for xbox live addicts there is no added features, no multiplayer, and no xbox live gameplay in half-life 2. plus pc gamers tend to think that playing games with a mouse and keyboard is better than with a controller.

4. half-life 2 has constant, yet short, load times throughout the game.

5. finally, anyone uptight with violence, mild language, or the first person perspective (can you believe people like this exist?!?!?!?!) should steer clear.

Honest reviews on Half Life 2 - Xbox

"The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference."

For nearly every PC gamer in the world, Half-Life is one of the most recognizable and acclaimed names in the market, and easily in the top tier of first-person shooters. This was further solidified in late 2004 when, after much anticipation and demonstration, Half-Life 2 was finally released on the PC. It was embraced by gamers and critics alike, and recieved several awards for Game of the Year.

And now, finally, console gamers can see what all the fuss is about with Half-Life 2's full transition to the XBOX.

Picking up an indeterminate number of years after the otherworldly events at the facility at Black Mesa, players once again don the battered crowbar and HazMat suit of sceintist-turned-savior Gordon Freeman. If you've never played any of first game, not to worry. The narrative of HL2 is very much its own beast, and you'll recieve all the info you need about the previous game from various NPCs you meet in and around City 17.

Arriving (somehow, you're not quite sure) on a train, you'll immediately notice a sense of dystopian depression in all the people around you. Apparently, an unknown power called the Combine has taken control of the affairs of planet Earth. People are transferred from city to city with no explanation as to why, reproduction is severely prohibited, and "Civil Defense" task forces are everywhere, masked, armored, and spoiling for a fight. In fact, they'll soon be coming after you, and it's only with the help of a small but determined resistance movement that you'll be able to survive.

From there, the game introduces you to some old friends and some new ones, a story of struggle, survival, free will, and good old-fashioned heroism. The story is done entirely in-game; no cut-scenes, no cinemas, no breaks in the gameplay at all. The entire story is told while you are physically controlling Gordon, never taking the player out of the world. And during the course of this story as you traverse the world, you'll experience some truly incrediblt things. You'll engage in fierce firefights with squads of Combine troops (who have incredible AI), you'll battle it out with heavily armed vehicles, be hunted by nightmarish creatures, and lead rebels against seemingly-invincible war machines. You'll grow attatched to some characters, and grow to hate others, and all the while you'll constantly be using the world.

Which is where the game really excels. The immersion of this game is practically perfect, and it does this in two very important ways. First, video game characters have never been more convincing; Alyx in particular is an incredible achievement, and you'll find yourself accepting that these characters geniunely exist rather than being AI programs and polygons. Secondly, the physics in Half-Life 2 have to seen to be believed. There is literally no other game on the market, first-person or otherwise, that gives the player as much control over their environment. Using the Havok physics engine, HL2 allows the player to do everything from pile bricks on a see-saw and push a swing in a playground to cause bridges to collapse and drop cargo containers on enemies. This makes both the shooting and the puzzles in the game much more fun, much more realistic, and much more rewarding when you use your brain and get creative.

For example, in one part of the game you're running through the canals of City 17 being chased by Combine troops, and pass near a bridge where enemies are firing down at you. At this point, all you have is a pistol and a crowbar, and instead of using up valuable ammo trying to take down each Combine soldier individually, you could just hit one of the conveniently placed flammable barrels to bring the whole bridge crashing down.

The entire game is full of situations like this that reward creative thinking, and when you pull it off, it looks absolutely beautiful. Not just because the physics are astoundingly convincing, but because the game is just darn good graphically speaking. HL2 is easily one of the best-looking titles on the PC, and while the XBOX version features a couple downgrades on the texture and resolution side of things, it features the same solid frame rate, gorgeous animation, and brilliant art of its PC cousin, and easily stands as one of the best-looking console games of the year.

Additionally, while HL2 lost the mouse-keyboard control scheme in the transition to consoles, Valve did a marvelous job of mapping the controls to the XBOX pad. Gordon Freeman isn't as heavy or cumbersome as, say, the Master Chief, and so the controls feel a little light and quick after Halo and Halo 2. However, they feel RIGHT for the game, for the character, and the world, making even the platforming feel fairly polished, and the shooting feel positively divine.

And while HL2 for the XBOX is a single-player-only affair, it's deffinitely a world you're going to have an incredible time in. From the rooftops of the city to the dank parlors of Ravenholm, it's also a world you'll probably want to visit over and over again. If you're a fan of first-person shooters, you simply must experience this game.

Half-life 2 on XBOX is is better than other shooters like Halo and the like, because instead of simply going in for the kill, you have to be resourceful and quick witted to navigate the levels and overcome obstacles. Not to mention, and I loosely quote one of Halo's developers, Halo is all about the same thirty seconds of fun repeated over and over. He couldn't be more correct. In Half-Life 2, progression usually guarantees new sights, and stimulates interest in playing further. The guns are not anything incredibly original, but they are well balanced and have some cool features. At least none of them need ten seconds to charge to make one shot effective, like 'Covenant' weapons. As for story, the beginning is absolutely riveting as you work to escape the Orwellian cruelty of the Combine's city. The city itself is beautifully rendered and very believable, as are the NPC's. The alien creatures you encounter are a heck of a lot less annoying than Halo's Flood. I think the head-crabs could use work though. They look like animate rotisserie chickens! Awesome game, by far better than most of the competition. My only major complaint is that the vehicle levels are too long and repetitive, and the vehicle controls suck and you can't see a freakin' thing. This won't kill the game for you, but by God in the ski-boat level, it will definitely try. Anyway, if you like shooters at all, buy this one.

The first cable I received was defective. The display was terrible and displayed dead lines on my screen.

But after speaking with a rep from the seller, they rushed me a new cable, and I didn't have to return the old one. (not like it mattered, it didn't work. But it's an inconvenience to return items sometimes.)

The new cable works well enough. I get audio and video with few hiccups, and it was worth the price for what I was using it for. Still, if you're looking for something for that new HDTV, I recommend looking elsewhere.

I got it and hooked it right up between my laptop and our 42" in flatscreen clear on the other side of the room and it works beautifully.

This cable works great. I am using it with a DVI to HDMI adapted on my graphics card. The wire is running along the base board where it is connected to the HDMI port on the back of a 50" Pioneer Plasma Elite HDTV. Don't be fooled by the expensive brands, with a digital signal if you see the picture then your cable works.

This product was purchased for my Grandson's birthday present. It arrived a little beat up. The cases were cracked and broken I think this was because of the way it was shipped. Not much protection. One of the games I think Halo 2 was missing. Just the case?? Once the company was notified they got right on the problems. Long story short the cases and the game were replaced very quickly. He obviously didn't have it for his B-day but it did come to him not long after. He is very satisfied with the games and says he loves playing them. So! I need to say as much as the order was not a positive experience at first, They did a great job correcting the mistake and acted immediately on it. This was acceptable to us and we will be back for other products. Thank You, A satisfied Grandparent.

Bought these for a birthday present and all I can say is what a waste of money! One disc would not play at all and the other disc was filthy! It had sticky, black gunk all over it. Totally did warrant the very good used label.

Honest reviews on Halo 1 and Halo 2 Bundle (Xbox and Xbox 360 Compatible)

The product came in a timely manner, I paid a fair price of twenty dollars, the games have no scratches, and the product was not damaged upon arrival. My one and only complaint lies with the game cases. I was expecting an actual Xbox game case, I received two jewel cases that one may find a CD in. However, this does not detract from the games or the speed at which I received them.
