This feels like the real Fender Bass, about 5" longer than the Rock Band 2 guitar. The split strum bar is fantastic...it took me a few minutes to get used to it and using two fingers works best for me. Real basses don't have a whammy bar and neither does this, but it does have a knob built-in if you want the whammy effect. It is not wireless but that's because Microsoft won't allow 3rd party wireless with the XBox 360. I saw someone playing this Fender Bass on YouTube and he is really, REALLY good! That's why I bought this and this thing rocks! My friends with the little rinky guitar are jealous because this looks so awesome and now they want one too.

This bass was alot of fun to play and has a great feel, but it could have been better.

First of all... The Good.

Has a more realistic look and feel than most guitar controllers. Its larger than the Rock Band guitars by about six inches and feels like a really comfortable size. The huge tuning pegs on the headstock just add to the great bass look

The fret buttons are good quality and accurate. They are better than the original Rock Band guitar but not quite as smooth as the Rock Band 2 guitar.

The split strum bar is a really great feature. It allows for two fingered bass play and feels very natural for a bass. The strum bars also have a 'positive click' when pressed and they don't feel 'squishy'. You know when you've plucked the note.

The extra fret buttons at the bottom of the neck are a nice addition, but really not necessary for the bass. They added them to allow it to be used as a lead guitar, but without a whammy bar (more on that next) it's not great as a guitar.

Now for The Bad...

The whammy bar... or in this case whammy 'knob'. To add to the look of a real bass, there is no whammy bar. But to make this more functional as a guitar they added a knob directly below the base of the neck that you spin back and forth to add whammy. It's a small knob, making it difficult to find at first without looking down. Once you find it, the knob doesn't feel good at all when you spin it. It has a cheap 'grinding' feel to it. Overall, the whammy knob just isn't fun to use.

Another knob... the five position selector. Takes the place of the toggle switch on the Rock Band guitars. Basically, the same comments from the whammy knob apply here again.

ANOTHER knob... the Start/Back button. This one just seems strange. Instead of the good ol' push buttons for Start and Back, they used a knob. Turn it left for the Back button and right for the Start button. I don't know if mine wasn't working properly, but on the song selection screen, my back button did not work. You should press Back to change the sorting option for the track list, but mine did nothing. I could not change the sort and had to scroll through all the songs to find what I wanted.

I get the reasons behind using all the knobs to give the bass a more realistic look. But in the end I would still prefer ease of use and function with larger, better quality knobs.

And finally... The Ugly!

NOT WIRELESS!!! WHY?? It took years for consoles to finally use wireless technology that actually works great and we still have good ideas like this bass that don't use it!

Price! Why am I paying the same price for a wired guitar as a good quality wireless? Normally, a wired guitar controller runs about $10 cheaper than a wireless version (the original Rock Band guitars, for example). But this bass is the same price as the awesome Rock Band 2 guitar right now. That's probably because of the split strum bar, they charge a little more.

After all this, I am not keeping mine. I can overlook the minor shortcomings with the knobs because the size is nice and the fret buttons and strum bar are good quality. But I am done dragging cords around behind me when I play.

The split strum bar is fantastic and takes playing bass in Rock Band to a whole new level. It allows you to pluck notes and makes you feel like a true bass player. The fret buttons are also very responsive and comfortable to play. I found the overdrive to be very responsive to launch with a quick tilt or lean. Overall I would highly recommend this bass guitar to anyone who is a fan of Rock Band.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Rock Band Fender Precision Bass Replica

Takes a bit of time to get familiar with the split strum bar, but once you do, watch out! Bass is so much more fun with this controller. Strumming is accurate, overdrive works really well, and the overall design is well thought out.

My only gripe is that it is not wireless, but it looks like there may be a wireless version coming down the pike since there is a battery door molded into the back of the Bass (which is non-functional at this time)

If you are on the fence, jump off the fence and get one of these.... you 'll really enjoy it once you get used to it.

This peripheral is in all ways superior to the fender strat that comes with RockBand. It's heavier and far more sturdily built, which has always been a big problem with guitar controllers. It's also bigger, which is great if you don't have tiny arms. The two strum bars are probably my favourite part, which allows you to strum more authentically and doubles your speed. Some people might find the changes to the whammy bar and start/select buttons a little tough to get used to, since now all functions of the guitar have been turned into knobs, but it is a reasonable change.

Oh, and the tuning pegs actually turn!

Don't understand why this title isn't more celebrated. Aesthetically beautiful, tons of tracks/drivers to choose from and while the handling isn't perfect it's totally playable. The music isn't particularly memorable, but it isn't horrible either. But forget all that, get four controllers, three other people and a few hours later you'll have no regrets with this purchase.

I have been interested in The Cursed Crusade for a while now, I enjoyed the demo but then reviews began coming out and were trashing the game pretty good so I wavered a bit on picking it up or not, however I had a 20 dollar gift card so I figured it would only set me back 20 bones so why not?

The Cursed Crusade is obviously not a AAA title as evidenced by it's small unknown development team and it's starting price of only 39.99 however while playing the game you can tell that the devs really did care about the game and did the absolute best they could with what they had. For starters the graphics are a mixed bag, they range from ugly to generic to decent to good to pretty darn cool looking (the cursed world). One thing that always looks quite good are the main character models, both Denz and Esteban look good and have some really nice animations.

Voice acting is again a mixed bag, the voice actors are at least trying, some are bad and some are decent and I would say that the decent outways the bad so the voice acting has not been a distraction for me. Its a good thing to that the voice acting is passable since there is a lot of it. The game contains a lot of cutscenes but the story has kept me interested thus far. The music score has been quite good and appropriate for the game.

Now on to the most important part of a game, the gameplay, a game can be the best looking and best sounding game ever but if the actual gameplay is a broken mess then whats the point? Cursed Crusade is a solid hack and slash game but its combat has more in common with Assassains Creed than God of War, its slow and methodical, lower end enemies can be dispatched with a few quick hits but higher end enemies will reguire you to parry and break their guard while other enemies will be heavily armored requiring you to break their armor before you can do any damage to them at all. Your weapons take damage as well and will eventually break and they actually degrade very quickly however you can pick up the weapons of vanquished enemies so there is never any lack of new weapons to pick up and holy cow are there a lot of different weapons and ways to combine them!

You can wield 2H swords, 1H swords, maces, spears, shields, crossbows, ect. and then you can combine them in many different ways like sword/shield, spear/shield, dual wield swords or maces or one of each and then every combination has several differnt combo moves that can be unlocked by upgrading using victory points that you earn at the end of each stage. You get graded at the end of each level and depending on how you did and how many collectibles you picked up you are awarded victory points to upgrade your character adding some rpg elements to the game, you can increase the usual suspects like strength and constitution but you can also upgrade your armor as well which adds another piece to your armor that an enemy must break before they can actually start damaging you and you can increase your curse mastery which I will touch on now.

The last and highly important gameplay element is the curse, Denz and Esteban and several other characters in the game are cursed which alows them to enter a cursed state which changes them and the world around them into a demonic flame engulfed realm. In this state you move and attack fatser and hit harder, you also gain access to curse powers like shooting fireballs, healing, seeing things that can't be seen in the normal world like lost souls and crucifixes that need purifying 2 of the things you need to find in stages to increase your victory points and the ability to destroy things that a normal person in the normal world would be unable to. The curse is the coolest part of the game, it looks fantastic and is a lot of fun to destroy guys however you obviously can't stay in cursed form forever, if you stay to long it will begin to consume your health and eventually kill you so you have to use it cautiously.

The Cursed Crusade really is a solid game, its disapointing that so many profesional reviews have pretty much dismissed it with a few sentences stating its crap when there is really so much to the game but its also understandable that with so many AAA games out right now they wouldn't want to devote much time to this diamond in the rough. So if you are interested in it, played the demo and enjoyed it then don't let the reviews scare you away, I only paid 20 bucks for it but would still have been happy if I spent the whole 40.

I downloaded the demo for The Cursed Crusade while trying to sludge my way through the mess that is Hunted. Man, Bethesda shoulda called Atlus, because for everything that was wrong with Hunted was pretty well fixed with TCC. Apparently I wasn't the only one who decided to hit up this little title, because within days of the demo hitting XBL, every GameStop in the area was sold out of it (Best Buy never did have it).

Here's a quick run-down:

* Controls: are responsive and intuitive, simple enough to pick up and run with yet with enough of a combo tree that combo-techies won't feel neglected.

* Story: I felt the story is pretty immersive, thanks to brief "chore" levels (similar to in the demo when you push the portcullis-thing to the gate before the shooting begins).

* Graphics: the graphics back up the story admirably, especially while in hell view. While the backgrounds and texturing can occasionally look a little "early-gen"ish, the character models are sharp and the animations stayed fluidly on-par with Assassin's Creed.

* Co-op: the most important for me is the local co-op (I like to play with my pals, so I don't buy games without it). Here TCC proves well-thought out. In too many games the title character so dominates the game that the secondary character is just along for the ride, but here Esteban feels like a fully-fleshed character in his own right.

My only real hang-up from a full 5-stars is that the game gets inconveniently reliant on timed combos sometimes (like Dante's Inferno) where I wish it was a little more straight-forward hack-and-slash. But I understand what the developers were trying to do, in making these moments different.

In the end, The Cursed Crusade won't make the chronic complainers about every nuance of AAA titles happy (you know the type), but I think it's a solid, fun game for the rest of us and definitely worth its bargain price. Enjoy!

The Cursed Crusade came out of nowhere and totally surprised me. I picked it up at game stop for 14.99. The game is essentially a low budget version of Assassins Creed, but there is much more sword play and bloody carnage. This is what a sword fighting game should be like. The graphics are good, not great, but who really cares? The story is solid, the voice acting is decent, and the ability to play in two realms is awesome. The controls are intuitive and easy to learn, as well as the combos. The bottom line is that this is a really fun game that should be judged on it's merits. If there were more games like this on the market, there would be a lot of smiling faces all across the world. It is too bad that this game did not get the media attention it deserved. If you like swordplay and carnage, this game is for you. There are so many games out there for 60 bucks that don't hold a candle to this game. Rent it or buy it, you will not be disappointed.

The Cursed Crusade is yet another Templar game, following other releases such as the Assassin's Creed franchise and The First Templar. Unlike both of those, The Cursed Crusade has been released at a $39.99 budget price (The First Templar debuted for $49.99; the Assassin's Creed games debut at $59.99). While the lower price point makes the shortcomings a little more forgivable, it doesn't make it any better of a game. There's a clear amount of love and dedication that shines through in the final product that Kylotonn Entertainment developed, but sometimes good intentions don't make a stellar product, as is the case with The Cursed Crusade.

I guess I'll start by saying that the combat can look flashy due to very satisfying finishing maneuvers, but there's a delayed reaction from the on-screen avatar after a button press. The combat isn't as 1:1 as I would like it to be. Had the combat been more intuitive and reactionary, I would've given it more props since the heavy feel and satisfying finishers are both positives to me.

The story can be good campy fun and pretty enjoyable, but everything in The Cursed Crusade is very long-winded. There are a lot of cutscenes, which last forever, and the hammy stuff -though definitely enjoyable -can get a tad bit tiresome after so much of it.

The presentation is a total mixed bag. It's got a low budget look, but it's not a terrible looking game by any means. The most depressing part of the presentation are graphical glitches, choppy character animations, in addition to the asinine amount of screen tear. Like I said, it's not a terrible looking game, but it's very sloppy in overall execution, and it stinks of low budget development.

Though this review may come off as very negative, it's still an enjoyable game. The combat isn't perfect, but it's still flashy and fun at times. The story stuff can become aggravating because it's so long-winded, but it's still interesting enough to watch most of the time.

At the end of the day, when you truly look at what The Cursed Crusade offers, the budget price of $39.99 is still a bit high considering the game's overall lack of level design sophistication, because each level comes down to arena-style fight, cutscene, arena-style fight, cutscene, wash, rinse and repeat. There's not many down moments where you're just soaking in the environments, solving puzzles, etc. The formula is quite basic, which is why it's sad that what little is here isn't more refined. There's still a lot of things to enjoy about The Cursed Crusade, but this is one game that's cursed by mediocrity.

You can tell right off the bat folks have some mixed feelings about the sim. This game has changed quite a bit after release with a handful of official patches that has made the game much better. Since the last patch a very talented group of people called Team Fusion has made some significant changes to the game for the better. There is an excellent write up on Simhq.com that covers some of the changes in detail. http://www.simhq.com/_air15/air_547a.html I can say to anyone looking at purchasing this game you won't be sorry. While it's not necessarily geared towards a casual crowd anyone into flight sims will appreciate the level of detail that has been put into the game. Given the 12 dollars that it costs I can highly recommend this to anyone interested in WWII combat flight sims.

This is the best WWII combat flight sim out there at present..BAR NONE...It is the most complete WWII fighter pilot experience you will get....I have tried other WWII flight sims on the market and they are all very arcade like...This is the REAL DEAL...I have flown this sim over 700 hours and I am still amazed at how real it feels, how good the landscape looks, the flight characteristics, the damage models, it is breathtaking!..and it is still being improved

When this sim originally came out it had flaws that put a lot of people off and gave bad reviews on sites like this. Unfortunately this has marred what is now quite literaly a brilliant sim. Its taken a while (2 years actually) but for those of us who gave this sim a second chance we have not been disapointed. For that reason I feel that I should make people aware of what they are missing if they don't get this game, but don't take my word for it..checkout the recent youtube videos..

The online experience is probably the best part of this game...To fight in the skies over Kent and the Pas-de-Calais in real time, scan the skies for enemy contacts, wing with a buddy and engage a deadly foe, it is exhilarating. You can change your shells to whatever shells were available at the time, you can change convergence settings so that your bullets hit exactly the same point, you fuel up to what amount you need which will influence your aircrafts balance and weight. The dogfight tactics are still the same from 1940, the flight characteristics are different for each aircraft and at different altitudes too....You can also fly bomber runs in 1940 bombers and take control of every manned gunning position as you try to fend off hungry attackers.

Even for new players there is plenty of help on youtube with 5 minute startup procedures, and how to dogfight in every flyable aircraft, you can be up and flying in just a few minutes. The best online server is ATAGS and they also have a website (link at bottom of this review)to checkout which is a must for new flyers with questions. Most importantly a large group of WWII aircraft enthusiast program techs have taken this sim and are constantly modifying it for a more complete experience. They are called the Team Fusion (TF) and they also use the ATAGS website as their base for discussion. The issues that once surrounded this game have now been resolved and the TF are now dedicating their time to making game enhancing changes like contrails and reflective cockpit canopys. Thats where this sim is at now.

If you want to fly online with us (and I would highly recommend the dogfighting online as its so much more full on than offline)...you must install the patches that can be found on the ATAGS website..and also for any questions...link to website here:

So my advice is to ignore any review earlier than 2013 as Cliffs Of Dover is as different now to when it was released as night and day and is nowhere near comparable with those early reviews.

Best Deals for IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover - PC

This is hands down the best flight sim in the guise of a game (Battle of Britain. The realism is awesome and the flight charicteristics are second to none. I am a private pilot and these planes fly like the real deal.

The downside is do NOT buy the game unless you have a serious gaming machine and especially a high end GPU graphics card. Most all of these bad reviews are by people who don't have the equiptment and or expect to be able to fly right off the bat. As I stated, this is REALISTIC and is more simulator than arcade game. Plan on "learning" to fly" before becoming anything close to an ace. And have a high end machine if you really want to experiance the Cliffs of Dover.

Update, after having this sim and playing close to 800hrs now I can say that it it only gets better! The Team Fusion mods have been incredible and the dedicated People on ATAG (server and forum) and Storm of War (server and campaigns) make it a thing of beauty. What I said about high end machine needed has been addressed and a good modern desktop with a GPU comparable to a GTX 560 or better will run this sim just fine. If you like flight sims with dogfights and bombing missions where people fly together (or seperately) in squadons or staffels, have weekly campaigns with detailed missions, you need to check this out. Casual flying and training on line is always available. Comprehensive training by plane type through Team Speak contacts is also available if you want too. It's a great community and the best realistic Battle of Britain flight sim of all! I don't say this lightly since I have flown them all. You need to fly Cliffs of Dover!

Honest reviews on IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover - PC

The closest I will come to the old Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 1 of the Windows 98/Me days, but the graphics are excellent and gameplay quite challenging. More fun if you takeoff and land after each mission.

As a fan of the IL-2 series I wanted Cliffs of Dover when it first came out, but didn't buy it because the reviews on its bugs and poor performance.

After hearing of improvements with the latest patch and seeing the price drop below $15, I crossed my fingers and bought it (JUN 2012).

The game is ABSOLUTELY worth $15!

It is still not perfect. I have had several crashes while playing in the "campaign" mode, though none during "quick missions". (I have not flown any multi-player yet.)

The text/story in the RAF campaign is week in my opinion. (I haven't played the Luftwaffe campaign yet.)

The graphics are GREAT. The aircraft, cockpits, clouds, water, and haze are VERY realistic! The countryside and towns also look very good.

I have the graphics settings on "high" and the game runs pretty smoothly for me. (For reference, I have a GTX 580 graphic card.)

While it can be a seriously complex flight sim, the difficulty settings can also be adjusted to make it pretty simple to fly and fight.

For under $15, I would definitely buy it again.

Usually, I just add funds directly from my credit card if I want to purchase games/items from PSN Store. But since I am currently not in US, the PSN rejected my request to add funds directly. Plus, retailers in my country are selling the PSN cards at much higher price (about 60% higher! can you believe that??). Therefore this situation kinda turn me into a sad panda.

Then I discovered this service.

I purchased the card, get the code and immediately entered it...BANG! It works! You don't know how happy I am that I can finally purchase games/add-ons that I want

Okay sorry for the exaggeration. Nevertheless, thank you Sony for providing this service! It's nice to add different ways to add funds to our PSN wallet.

As I play more of the game, I'll have a more detailed review. As things stand now, if you want to play a hockey game, you've got no where else to turn, so in a way any review is a waste. However, if you are on the fence, this review will help determine which side you want to jump on.

--------------

Update: 3/31/11

I've been playing season mode a lot, since I don't have internet currently, and I want to say this: the computer cheats.

I'm playing superstar, and there is a huge double standard that has caused my controller to get tossed more than 10 times. For example, if I knock the computer off the puck, it's irrelevant, as he'll get back to the puck 80% of the time (unless I knock him down, and then he's prone to flailing on the ice and sometimes knocking the puck away). The other way around, if he hits me, I can rarely get back to the puck; he nearly always beats me to it or he's got support to take the puck. You can't have it both ways. Also, the computer is awesome at skating through my body when I dive. It's really amazing, as if I'm not even there. And the computer also likes to poke check through my body too, so even when I think I have positioning, it's irrelevant, because he's got magic powers.

Finally, the goalies are not made equal. My goalie seems to let in really, really pathetic goals, whereas the computer makes ridiculous saves.

I want this game to be difficult on it's highest setting, but this isn't difficult, it's cheating. If I have 2 steps on someone to a loose puck, and I'm using speed burst, they should not be able to out race me 9 times out of 10 (as the 'hawks, Kane and Campbell seem to be able to skate as fast as Wade Brookbank. Sure, sure). I know you can edit the settings to make the superstars stand out, but why is that even a feature? Why bother rating the players if Daniel Winnick is going to score a hat trick on me?

Anyway, thanks for playing unfair computer.

--------------

BE A PRO MODE:

The problems with Be A Pro mode that have been in previous NHL's is still there. Your AI teammates are useless. Their passes are garbage (sometimes they will ignore your passing request), they will lose nearly every board battle, are super good at turning the puck over, and the D will completely abandon the crease.

Essentially, Be A Pro mode will involve you playing 1 on 5. And why would you want to bother with that? Let's move on to the part of the NHL series which just keeps getting worse.

UNLOCKABLES:

For the EASHL (this is where you play as your own character) you either have to pay to improve your character or play a ton of games to do so. A lot of the unlockables involve playing 40+ games of Be a Pro, the major problem being that it's a nearly unbearable experience.

So, you will have to pay one way or another, either with money or with a lot of your time (and sanity). This is a problem, not just from a greed stand point, but in that players will always be artificially good. Everyone should be the same, and whoever is the better player should be the standard, not whoever spent more MS points than you.

HUT (New Addition, Needs Deletion):

I find Hockey Ultimate Team to be a gigantic waste. I have played 2 games online, only to unlock something for my EASHL player. Why would I want to play another game where the player I'm up against can just buy better players? Why would I want to play a game where my players are rated so low they can't make a pass, poke check, or skate?

NEW GAME = NEW ERRORS

The checking in this game with the "new" physics engine is cartoonish. I've been checked from behind on the rush and have gone flying. I've hit someone with a tip of my elbow and they are tossed ragdoll-style in the opposite direction.

Outside of that, goalies currently have a proclivity for pushing the puck in their own net. They will make a butterfly save and then proceed to bat the puck in the net. What a joke.

And again, the AI can stick lift you even when you are in front of them. If you even try to do that, you will get 2 minutes.

One funny addition to the EASHL is 10 minute majors. If your friend gets one, it's a riot b/c he's out of the game. However, for online team play, this means a computer team mate for the rest of the game (everyone usually quits, anyway), which can be a nuisance. So, Im unsure if I like this new penalty.

Summation:

Again, what choice do you have if you want to play a hockey game? As time goes on, I'll add to the review. It can be a very fun to play, but the mistakes in the game will also cause a lot of frustration as they are so incredibly stupid. Is is worth the agitation to you?

UPDATE -

Since the last tuner update, the goalies have become horrible. I've seen them get beat on simple, unscreened wrist shots, and on a 2 on 1 the goalie completely ignored the shooter, leaving the entire left side open (assuming a pass). Just great, EA.

Also, the Online Team Play rooms are still buggy (although it appears they finally learned to count -it was Online Team Play Room #1, Online Team Play Room #1, and Online Team Play Room #1 as available rooms instead of 1,2,3). In NHL 10, the Xbox 360 would just freeze at random spots. So far, there's two spots where it will freeze, one of which is loading the game room in online team play. I was gently hoping that since EA now requires you to have a passcode to play online, that that would mean less problems.

Um, nope.

Finally, passing, while I'm sure I still need more time to get use to it, it definitely still needs refinement. It should not be THAT hard to send a pass and to receive one. And while I understand cross creases need to be toned down, some of the interceptions by the CPU are ridiculous.

EA's hockey games have been an absolute blast in recent years, it's definitely my personal favorite sports franchise. NHL 09 was awesome, NHL 10 was even better, and now here comes NHL 11 with a whole bunch of new features and improvements think evolution, not revolution. If you're new to the NHL franchise, then rest assured that you're buying into a fantastic and fun hockey simulation. The graphics are great, there are tons of teams to choose from, a huge amount of customization, and solid online functionality. Want to take on the Canadians with the Bruins in Boston while wearing throwback jerseys? With three of your friends offline or up to eleven online? No problem! Laying a big hit into someone is more satisfying than ever before, and the new physics system allows for some really dynamic situations.

Since the NHL formula is so well established at this point, I thought it would be productive to list a version of some major changes you'll notice between NHL 10 and the new NHL 11. Hopefully this list will help you decide if the new features/improvements are worth it for you:

Passes now happen when you RELEASE the pass trigger, not when you press it. The strength of your pass is controlled by how long you hold the button before the release. This is the first major gameplay change I noticed in NHL 11. The more I play with this, the more I like the change although as a result I'm having a little more trouble getting one-timers off.

In NHL10 faceoffs almost always resulted in the puck going directly to a player on the ice, in NHL 11 faceoffs are much more dynamic. It's possible to switch grips, shove, or block your faceoff opponent. Many more options this time around, faceoffs are definitely more interesting. In NHL9/10 faceoffs were pretty formulaic and boring.

Broken sticks can happen and take a player mostly out of play. He'll still be able to kick the puck and block/check, but is obviously at a big disadvantage. Teammates can hand off their stick as a replacement, or the player can go to the bench to get a new one. You can also lose your stick if you get cleaned out during a huge hit.

If you are a fan of Madden Ultimate Team mode, then you'll be happy to know that EA has implemented something similar in this game: Hockey Ultimate Team. This mode is based on collecting trading cards of players, stadiums, coaches, etc. and using these options to build your team. As you win games, you'll unlock more cards and improve your team.

You can now play online with friends against a purely CPU controller team. This was a major missing feature from NHL10, and it's great to see that they fixed it.

A `hustle' button (push in left stick) will temporarily give your player a burst of speed. This feature existed in some previous NHL games, but not in NHL 10.

There's a whole new physics-based engine powering the game. This can affect lots of different things in the game, from checks to puckhandling to

When laying out a check, you can choose between hitting high and hitting low. Combined with the new physics engine, this creates some really fun hits.

Reworked trade logic in the `Be a GM' mode. There are also now both restricted and unrestricted free agents.

If your opponent is lying down on the ice, you can now jump over him. Hopefully this will cut down on the amount of flopping that is in NHL 10.

EASHL (EA Sports Hockey League) mode now lets you run a full practice game, and increases the number of jersey/team customization options.

A new deke system allows offensive players to counter specific defensive techniques. There's a deke to counter poke checks, a deke to counter defensemen laying down on the ice, etc.

Disallowed goals.

Playoff beards!

Hopefully this helps you make a decision about purchasing (or not purchasing) NHL 11!

This was one of the better NHL titles in recent years, but all people considering purchasing it should be warned: EA has taken the NHL 11 servers down as of mid-January 2013. The single-player and local multiplayer modes are all intact, but none of the xbox live multiplayer functionality will ever work again.

Also of note, the game came packaged with an 'Online Pass' token (which, by my understanding was supposed to give EA incentive to keep their servers online for longer; go figure!) when purchased new, which will do you no good whatsoever at this point in time. This means there's virtually no reason to waste your money on a new copy.

Honest reviews on NHL 11 - Xbox 360

I recently purchased the new xbox 360 and am a HUGE sports fan. I got NBA 2k11, PGA 09, MADDEN 11, and NHL 11 when I got the system. I've dabbled with each here and there (nba 2k11 is probably the 2nd best of the bunch and the best basketball game to-date), but NHL 11 is by far and away, my game of choice. It's realistic (played in college), and very detailed experience. Online play is always competitive and sorted by difficulty. Make sure if you but this game used, the EA requires used game buyers to pay $9 to play online (if the online code was used by the previous owner) just a heads up. Hope this helps, God bless

I have been playing NHL games since NHL 99 for the N64 and this one has been the most satisfying.

This game is much improved over NHL09. Not just in graphics but in gameplay.

A lot of the low star reviews I read here on Amazon have bashed the game for things they don't know they have control over. For instance I was reading a review that was saying that the sticks break too often which can easily be changed in the options/settings. Another user was complaining about the complex controls. I for one love the control layout for this game but I do admit it takes a bit to get used to it. For the casual player who just wants one button to pass, one to shoot, etc. you can set it up in the settings very easily.

My favorite part of this game is the "Be A Pro" mode. I played it a lot in NHL09 and was looking forward to the new NHL entry draft and it did not disappoint. At this point I have only played through one season but unlike NHL09 I felt no need to simulate half the season. The game kept me wanting to play and I played every season and play off game. The only thing I can complain about in "Be A Pro" mode is the mild lag when you go behind your own net.

I have also played many of the "Play Now" games against the computer and against friends. I have never encountered any problems with this game mode.

Having played only a quarter of a season with a team I have not encountered any problems.

Overall I love this game and it is a must buy for anyone who is even mildly interested in hockey.

..and some patience. 'Assassin's Creed 2' is one of my favorite all-time video games and buying this trilogy collection, which includes it's DLC and two sequels ('Brotherhood' and 'Revelations') was a no-brainer. Unfortunately the way the games are packaged onto the disc is a bit strange and the HD space required to run all three games may turn off some gamers.

The first thing that booted up when I popped in the 'Ezio Trilogy' disc.....was 'Assassin's Creed: Revelations' (the third game in the trilogy). There's no in-game menu, no automatic way to switch to playing the other two games. I had to quit 'Revelations' (after it's mandatory 4+GB install) and after selecting AC2 and Brotherhood from the dashboard menu the games install....I mean COMPLETELY install to your HD. By the time I had AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations ready to play I had taken up 17 GB on my hard drive. Even stranger you're still required to have the disc in your system to be able to play each game (unless you want to play Revelations you'd probably want your auto-run turned off). To be fair it DOES say what's required on the back of the box and you can always just install AC2 OR Brotherhood by themselves (each takes up about 6-7 GB's) but those hoping to have all three games play off one disc will find these features a nuisance.

I will say 'AC2' and 'AC:Brotherhood' play beautifully on the PS3 without any of the bugs I remembered from their initial launches (UBISOFT did a great job cleaning things up). Graphics are smooth as ever and being able to climb buildings around renaissance-era Italy and Ottoman-ruled Turkey is still incredibly fun. Story-wise I'll never warm to Desmond's present-day narrative but getting involved in Ezio's quest for revenge and discovery is just as compelling as I remembered.

I'm not against having the option to install games to your HD I just don't like it being a requirement. 'The Ezio Trilogy' comes with three great games and if you can deal with this package's quirks the $40 price is a steal (individually they're $20 each if you download them off the network w/o AC2's DLC). Just be aware this is NOT like PS3's platinum collections and if you don't have a bigger HD be ready to free up some space.

When I saw this trilogy was coming out, I knew it would be a great way to catch up on the series as I just received the AC3 500GB PS3 bundle for my birthday in November. I waited until I saw the first price drop (down to $30 the other day = $10 per game!), and snagged this up.

This is a GREAT bundle for those who are either new PS3 owners (new PS3's have a lot of HDD space) or PS3 owners new to the Assassin's creed series. All of my friends who played the entire series told me I didn't need to play the first one, but to read up on the story online instead.

Yes, it takes 17GB of space to install ACII and AC:B on the PS3, and yes you need the disk to play any of the 3 games at all times. In no way are either of these things good reasons not to buy this bundle. There are so many resources showing how to add hard drive space, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The day I bought this for $30, ACII was $15, AC:B was $18, and AC:R was $25. Even at $40, this trilogy is still a good deal. If you would rather pay more to have 3 disks and use less HDD space more power to you!

This trilogy only comes with the ACII DLC, but for newcomers to the series, I would recommend reading reviews on DLC for the other 2 games before buying any of it, as many see the added content as not being worth the additional money.

As far as the 3 games included, refer to each individual game's product page for full review there.

So I was looking forward to this product, than I got it. First off the games are on one disc, but you have to completely install 2 and as if you downloaded the game. To have all three games you will need 17 GB of hard drive space. What is worse you still need the disc to play, 2 and Brotherhood, even though the entire game is on your hard drive. It is ridiculous 17GB is way to much.

The set is still a good deal, you are getting the games much cheaper than if you bought them individually but it would be nicer if they came on three discs and did not require so much hard drive space, or at least let you play with out the disc.

Seems like a lot of people are disappointed having expected something that was never promised. A lot of reviews are giving the game 1 star because "it's not The Sims 3 with medieval objects and clothes." Why would EA release that? That's more of an expansion for The Sims 3, not a standalone game. Heck, you could do it now yourself if you wanted to by downloading third party content for free. Thankfully, EA did not cheat us by simply giving us The Sims 3 with new decorations and clothes. They gave us an entirely new game!

The opening movie once you first start the game is quite amusing, and it's full of win simply because it's narrated by Patrick Stewart. The appropriately themed illustrations along with the narration explain that you're The Watcher, revered by the people. Also, we learn that "people are dumb" (because they're getting eaten by dragons and forest dwelling dire chinchillas), and that you are to give your Heroes gentle nudges to help guide them on the proper path to a glorious new civilization.

This game runs faster and smoother than my full Sims 3 installation, likely for obvious reasons, but even so, the graphics seem updated and quite a bit more detailed. The facial and clothing details in Create A Sim, including the new, sharply detailed eyes, are really a visual treat. When you're choosing your sim's voice, you'll also discover there's a new version of Simlish, sounding a lot more European than your standard Simlish we've all come to know and love.

Once you've made your Monarch for the tutorial (I chose to make a Queen, rather than a King), you're dropped into the game for your first quest. Never fear, the tutorial for your first quest helps explain a lot, but I'd advise not neglecting to do something simply because the tutorial doesn't tell you to. For instance, it never tells you where to go and when to eat. Don't let your sim starve to death. Once the hunger bar is about 75% depleted, head up to the 2nd floor of the throne room and make yourself some gruel in the fireplace cauldron. You'll sit down at the table nearby and eat it with your hand! Other than that, the introductory quest does a fairly good job of teaching you the ropes. This game is quite different from your standard "The Sims" series of games, so you might be a bit frustrated if you skip the tutorial... there are lots of new mechanics. One thing I did find a bit annoying was that the popup info in the upper right portion of the screen sometimes faded out as quickly as it popped up, not allowing me to actually read the flavor text. I missed out on the thoughts of my Monarch's first romance because the overlay was up for only 1/2 a second and disappeared. Hope there is a patch forthcoming.

This game is about Heroes rather than households, and it's quest based rather than freeplay or sandbox. It feels more like an RPG to me than your standard The Sims type game. You're not on a linear rail, though, because depending on the Hero you're playing and your Hero's choices previous to the quest you've currently chosen to do (yes, you are given choices of which quests to complete based on previous quests completed, kingdom status, etc), there are different ways to complete quests with different outcomes.

In a nutshell, I'd call this a medieval-themed, quest-based Sims RPG. And it's really a lot of fun and really nice to look at. EA could have cheated and thrown a themed version of The Sims 3 at us, but they did not, thankfully. It's obvious they wanted something different for this game as evidenced by the new mechanics and, so far, I think it works. I've been having fun ooh'ing and ahh'ing and learning the new game. It's a nice change if I'm a little bored with the standard Sims 3 but still want to Sim instead of playing something else.

Most importantly, don't knock the game because you expected something less. The game's website has been up for quite some time, and if you're disappointed because you expected Medieval Sims 3, you've only yourself to blame... not EA, who's done a fine job injecting some new life into the franchise.

When I first received the game and installed it, I was immediately prompted to do a game update. Apparently one was created for the game even before it was available to buy. So be prepared after the initial installation process for a short game update to be installed prior to first playing the game.

Right out of the starting gate things about the Sims Medieval feel very different, but with enough familiarities included to make game play not totally foreign to those already familiar with the Sims games. You start out beginning with naming your "Kingdom", not a city. Once you have named the Kingdom, you need to create a "hero" sim to rule as the monarch. Doing so open up the familiar create a sim screen. While things like age, weight, skin color and hair are all still part of designing your sims, selecting their traits now also includes choosing separate flaws for them as well, such as bloodthirsty, drunkard and uncouth.

During gamely, I found that the typical Sims Mood Meter has been replaced with a "Focus Meter", basically working on the same principals of the need for your sims to stay well rested, fed and happy. The entire panel for controlling them is based on the same layout as the Sims 3. Things like your sims inventory, goals, navigation and game speed are all in almost the same layout, with only small differences.

Much like the city view in Sims 3, there is a view called Eye of The Watcher. In the original city view, you panned from left to right and north to south until you came to your cities edge. The Eye of The Watcher mode allows you to pan though your kingdom in a 360 deg. circular view. As if you were at the center, looking around. Just like in the Sims 3, you can go out into your world, interact with everyone, go places and find things to gather . The difference in the Sims Medieval is that only sims working in certain professions can collect specific items. One must also spend time investigating an item before it can be gathered.

The gathering of items plays a crucial roll in this version of the sims, as it's how you expand and build your kingdom. If your familiar with the Sims Castaway game, the gathering for the purpose of building items works similarly. Your goal is to build your kingdom and advance your sims through their quests. You can work on your quests, or just spend time doing other things. Much like in other sims games, you can do everything, or nothing. It's up to you.

Instead of necessarily having your sims spend their lives working a specific 9-5 job, now they have quests. You work to continue advancing in their quest throughout their lifetime. Each day they are also issued 2 responsibilities. They can do them, or not, but it can drastically affect a sims focus (mood) either way.

While the menus and buttons may look familiar, it would seem everything inside of them is completely different. About the only interaction that has remained the same is "chat". Everything else is something new. Each class of sim also has special interactions just for their type.

Remember the days of sims fighting with each other when one sim flirted with another's significant other? Well the days of the dusty ball of fighting in the dirt are over! Now, you challenge a duel. You hit someone with a glove and whip out your sword. But details like how heavy your armor is and weapon play a crucial roll in if your going to win the fight. The match begins and you can see every strike. There is a stamina and health meter displayed for both opponents, and the first one to run out of either is the looser. So your going to want your sim in a good mood when you brandish your sword against another.

This game is PACKED with stuff to do. This is by no means a small game. It seems to have everything from every version of the Sims. The gathering of items to build and eat reminds me of Sims Castaway, the clothing and mysteriousness of it has a touch of Sims 1 Makin' Magic. The whole layout of the menus and workings is just like that of Sims 3. The quests of building a Kingdom and advancing your sims in it is like no other. This is not a remake of just the same old game with new clothing and hair. This game has a whole new design of how it works and how to progress though it. There is so much going on that you spend very little time worrying any more about what a sim is wearing, because it almost seems unimportant.

The sims are so realistic looking in the create a sim, it's almost scary.

You'll find the game follows what it would be like in the medieval timeline quite well, in that your going to be cooking over a pit instead of a gas stovetop. Your female sims don't have makeup to wear, and the hair styles are quite entertaining. Your going to be walking everywhere, since cars are not around and if you want to mail something, your going to have to do it by carrier pigeon. Yet there's something just a little extra fun about putting a sim in the town square stockade and throwing eggs at tomatoes at them, instead of just a sim police officer putting them in their car and hauling them away.

The clothing details are beautiful, but since there are different outfits for so many classes of sims, each sims class has a limited selection. Your sim will automatically change into a preset outfit different than their everyday ones for activities such as dueling or sleeping (much like a pregnant sim changes into maternity clothing on their own). There really was a lot of thought and design put into this version of the Sims. I have had other Sims games in the past that just didn't live up to the hype, but this one does everything and more.

Playing the Sims Medieval is like exploring the Sims in a whole new way.

Best Deals for The Sims Medieval - PC/Mac

it's been a long time since a Sims game captivated me enough to really sit down and play for long periods of time and so far Sims Medieval has some magic in it that I didn't quite get with the 3rd iteration.

Without going back too much into what other reviewers have already stated, one of the things that I really enjoyed is that there seems to be more things to do to give your characters focus and that seems to have been missing from other Sims games. You have quests and mini quests that you can do to pass the time, you have decisions that you can make that affects the entirety of the game.

I also enjoy that as you build your kingdom you can shape other characters to perform missions without having to play the whole game as your primary character. Some of the same elements remain however as your playing is only as good as the interactions that you have with characters within your kingdom and making sure that you sim's wants and needs are balanced.

The Focus meter is a new change in that I have noticed that certain tasks will not be done as efficiently if you are unfocused as the would be when you are and like any RPG you get XP for completing tasks correctly.

I also like the fact that as you play through your story when speaking to certain sims about aspects of the kingdom, you don't always have to guess what's going on as a pop up on the screen will explain certain situations are going on like 'yes we need more stone" or "Hey, I need you to rescue the fair maiden."

The environment and sounds will pull you right in to the medieval world from the style of dress to the music to the Simlish which has a noticeable accent.

As someone else has mentioned, early on in the game you will always have things to do although it seems like some of the tasks that your king does (like collect wood) should be delegated to a lower minion. However that gets made up in the fact that certain traits you imbue on your sim may take a menial task such as wood gathering and add that you discovered treasure or a monster that you have to slay.

As far as controls, it's as easy as always especially on a Macbook Pro and even with the graphic setting on medium, it's really nice to look at with slowdown occurring if too many sims are on the screen at once.

My only complaint with the game so far is that sometimes trying to get from point A to point B is not as easy of a transition as it could be because the mapping is not as responsive as it should. Sometimes if you don't click on that 'sweet spot' on the map the game won't respond. One other thing I would like to see added to future iterations if this is expanded upon is bringing back generations of sims. One of the main focal points of that era was the focus on families contending for the throne. Maybe it's a bit contentious to think something like that could fit into a family friendly game like this but it would be nice to have some sibling rivalry play out on this game and see it mature; the old king dies and 2 siblings compete for the throne. Who knows maybe we can get that in an expansion?

if you have followed the Sims, this choice is easy...by the way EA, if you can make the Sims 3 for the iPad, can you try for the same with this???

**As someone else stated, be prepared to play through the WHOLE TUTORIAL as you cannot save your game until you finish it!!!!! And you will need at least 2 or 3 hours for that!**

Honest reviews on The Sims Medieval - PC/Mac

I've played for a day and a half so far, and don't expect that I'll play it again unless I get really bored with all of my other options. As it was loading I read through the instructions and I started to get really excited. "Quests", I thought to myself. That will give the game some direction. I'm currently taking a break from Sims 3 because I got tired of doing the same thing over and over with my different sims.

However, as you advance in the game, the quests repeat. Sure, there are new one's as well, but still why would you want to complete the same quest over and over? So, you can do the opposite of what you did last time, I suppose. That's not for me, unfortunately.

Even that wouldn't be so terrible you could just not do the quests and control your sims, except... You can only control your hero sims, not their spouses or their kids. I had a heck of a time trying to track my sims spouse down in order to get some kids. He or she kept going into the village or outside the boundaries of the house, castle, etc. There are times you can't "call them over" to where your sim is at, so no woohoo until they come home. One spouse was pretty much always gone never came home to sleep at night or to eat no kids for that sim.

I wasn't able to get my sims to have more than 2 kids, so that didn't add any variety or drama to their lives. The kids themselves never grow up, the sims in your kingdom never age. Oh, they die sometimes, but they never grow old and die.

If you enjoy tearing down their houses and building your own, or expect to be able to add rooms to the castle, hovel, etc., sorry to burst your bubble, but no. You can redecorate and furnish your sims home, but you get a limited number of rooms and that's it.

I had the expectation of the combination of Sims 2 and 3 and thought, cool, set in medevial times with quests to keep it fresh and advancing a kingdom through the generations. That's not the game. If that's what you're expecting too, well, you can try it, but may be disappointed.

Like a cross between Sims and Fable, everything about this game appealed to me and I've thoroughly enjoyed the four days I spent completing the first round. However, the Fatal Flaw of Sims Medieval is replayability, a flaw it has inherited from the Fable side of its family tree.

Creating a monarch is fun and though I take some issue with Her Highness feeling an obligation to gussy up to meet with one of her own (or his own) employees as the first act, in general, I enjoyed working my way through the quests. The actions to take are mostly clearly demonstrated and it isn't difficult to accomplish most things. You won't be allowed to kill anyone during a quest that is necessary to a quest so shouldn't get stuck. You can, however, kill everyone else, if you want. I wouldn't, but you can.

There were only 2 quests I had to pop out of the game to search the next steps for and determined that one was actually an error in the game -in the Dangerous Minds quest, my target was not completing the task I was suppose to observe him on. The other, Bric-A-Brac Day, was just too ambiguous as to what to do compared to the clear actions described for the rest of the quests.

Playing the various heroes creates a varied experience, particularly in the Blacksmith and Physician trades where you are actively participating in making the crafts.

The Merchant class is difficult to navigate... lots of walking to opposite sides of town that seem counterintuitive to selling things at the market and I don't necessarily think every sale should have to be so much work, but you do receive a salary which could be considered the "rest of the sales."

The Knight and Monarch seemed to be favored in the quest window but that could also just be my experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my knight. I had him marry my queen when she chose a suitor and then he lived in the castle and the children and him would all come home at night to sleep and then disappear each morning by six a.m. This led more gravity to their relationship than in a previous marriage where I had difficulty getting her suitor to even come over so they could marry. Relationships are, superficial at best, outside of the objectives of the current quest.

Not being able to rotate the camera the majority of the time was frustrating. I frequently lost people behind the market stalls and had no method to click on them. Children not growing up, characters not aging in general, was disappointing. I felt like after Sims Nightlife adding a "celebrity" aspect, giving everyone the same social interactions was a missed opportunity to give the Monarch more limited social interactions available when playing other heroes with low relationships to the Monarch. In general, I felt like the Monarch should have more control over their environment. But that's not the major flaw in the game.

After completing my 13 buildings and using up my QP, I was excited to take my kingdom to the next level! To spread out across the land and... essentially, you can't. If you want to launch another campaign, you start over. So now I have a whole new monarch, doing the same tired quest of primping in the mirror to meet an employee. Not wanting to be completely repetitive, I cleared the whole castle and repurposed every room but the main throne room. But the NPCs still behave largely as if the castle had the same layout. They all gather in what is now my kings bedroom, emptying his bookshelf (I discovered later that the knight had every book from the king's bookcase in his inventory.) and ignoring the spacious receiving room with its casks of ail and game tables.

Not being able to continue to a new campaign with the same ruler and being able to reach level 10 with multiple heroes in a matter of hours, a feat I cannot accomplish in any other Sims game in a week of gameplay, there is so much potential with this game but the challenge isn't there and, ultimately, the depth of gameplay is weak.

I have reviewed the first Dead Island game and really liked it. If you are looking for more of the same then you will love Dead Island Riptide, but if you were looking for something new then look elsewhere. Dead Island Riptide plays just like Dead Island, combat the same, story same, zombies pretty much the same, skill tree small and creating weapons same. I think you get the picture.

Here are a few of the new additions:

One new person, who specialize in hand to hand combat.

New dead zones, which are small areas where you kill all the zombies and one special zombie to clear the zone.

Defend your base missions.

Few new special zombie types.

Cons:

Dead penalty or lack of it. You only lose a little cash, so after a while you don't really care if you die or not.

Story, get off island before it's too late. You care less about any of the other characters and what happens to them.

All Side quests felt like I was a delivery boy. Go to this location, pick this up and bring it back to them.

Too much running around, after a while I just ran by all the zombies. Needed more fast travel locations.

I can't recommend buying this game at this price; it feels more like a large DLC with a few small updates. Go ahead and pick up the first game if you haven't played it. It's cheaper price and plays the same as Dead Island Riptide.

I would, firstly, like to say Dead Island:Riptide is not a sequel to Dead Island. DI:R is in fact more like an add-on if anything.

In the original Dead Island I remember thinking to myself how much potential that game had. If the developers had gotten a few more things right, and fixed several issues, Dead Island had potential to be a great game. So, with DI:R I had thought they would do all they can to make this amazing. I was wrong;dead wrong.

Dead Island: Riptide essentially feels, and looks,EXACTLY like it's predecessor. Perhaps, graphically, it has improved a bit. It has all the same problems and glitches of the previous game. I feel the developers were uninspired, and lazy at times.

The combat is still more focused on melee and the guns can still feel underpowered; despite what their DPS says. The issue of zombies being OVER-POWERED is still present. It is ridiculous a walker with 2 or 3 good swings could kill my level 47 Sam B. Combat is still satisfying but can feel like a grind after a while.

The game play is good. I like how you repair and upgrade weapons. Trading is pretty standard, but, once again, not much has changed.

The voice acting can vary from being exceptionally good to cheesy and weak. I will say the five main characters are great. Especially Phil LaMarr, I love that guy.

This game has great characters. I get attached to some of the NPC's and I get upset when they die. The main characters are the best; in my opinion. I played as Sam B in DI and now DI:R and he is my favorite. I still love Xian, Purna, and Logan to pieces. John is pretty cool too. There are moments where some of the NPC's are completely weak and their story is paper thin.

I noticed they re-used some of Dead Island's sound track and sound effects...that irked me a little. However, it was all very good. I guess when you get something right the first time don't mess with it. Though Sam B's first song, WDYVB, was better.

The storyline still could be cliche, but I feel it improved a little from the first. Definitely themes of betrayal and plot twists. Of course you have your quintessential conspiracy plot. The story is decent but not great. The ending is a little vague and after reflection I think that is a good thing. Hopefully it is not what it appears to be.

Overall, I would give DI:R a 7 out of 10. (Amazon's rating system is a bit awkward for me, so I rounded it up.) It's a fun, solid game no doubt. If you enjoyed the first one, then there is little doubt you will enjoy this one. Some people may be disappointed and some many not understand why critics have so harshly reviewed it; everyone is different. However, it is pretty much the same game with the exception of new main quests, which are basically boring fetch quests, new zombies, you can drive a boat, it is a different island, still an how island how original, one new character, and the story, however weak, is continued. Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide have the potential. There's just so much holding them back from being great games.

Decent game, I also feel like it was just a large DLC instead of a new game. I sometimes found it frustrating trying to get somewhere and it was constantly just running through the same things over and over. More fast travel locations would have been helpful also.

Yea looks the same as the 1st but just as much fun. Great game with hours of play. Played game twice through so far and both ended up with opposite results.

Very good game. Better than the first one. More things to do and the game is not as complex as the first one.

Some of the most fun I've had playing games in the last few years was going a couple of rounds of Guitar Hero with a few friends. It's a fantastic party game and if you've never played it, you owe it to yourself to check it out. This, much like SingStar and Dance Dance Revolution, is a title that's going to appeal highly to your "non-traditional" gamer crowd. I could, honestly, fawn over how much fun it is for hours, but there were a couple of things about the 360 version of this game that I wanted to bring up.

First, I know there are a ton of you out there that have a PS2 version of this already. If that's the case, I'm not sure there's enough added content out-of-the-box to warrant buying the game a second time. The only difference would be about ten added titles to the soundtrack. Now, mind you, they're all great songs; but is what amounts to a CD enough for you to plunk down another ninety bucks?

Unfortunately, two of the features I was really pulling for on the 360 version aren't making the final release. I was wildly excited over getting a wireless guitar, but there was some kind of licensing hang-up with Microsoft over the use of their wireless technology. Red Octane has said that they're hopeful they'll eventually release a wireless guitar, but they couldn't get past the red tape fast enough. I'm a bit bummed, but, to Red Octane's credit, the wired guitar they included is really cool looking.

Secondly, I'm also a bit disappointed that there isn't an online multi-player competition. I thought it would have been awesome to have head-to-head rock-offs. I don't know if this is something they could work in later, but Microsoft's online play is so well done and so much fun that I'm always a little let-down when developers don't take advantage of it. It wound up being the only issue I dinged the game a star for. If that was included, this may have been as close to perfect as I could have hoped for.

The graphics for this aren't staggeringly better then the PS2 version, but on the other hand, they don't really need to be either. It's considered a high-definition game, but honestly, you'll probably only notice a small difference. In a game like this, you're looking at the play-ability. As long as the graphics aren't a distraction, that should be enough. The game play here is as addictive as any you'll ever hope to find.

The Co-op play with the bass-guitar mode is a lot of fun and a cool feature. I'm also really looking forward to seeing what song downloads end up being available on xBox marketplace. Jury's still out until we see the content, but that's a pretty cool feature that'll keep this game fresh for a long time.

As I mentioned before, if you're an xBox lifer, who's never had the chance to check out this former PS2 exculsive, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. If you already have the PS2 version, however, you'll be just as content to rock out with that for now.

Rocker wannabes and air guitar virtuosos, this is your game.

It's hard to imagine that anyone that might be reading this hasn't already heard of or seen the PS2 game in action. Basically this is a rock guitar "simulator" for lack of a better explanation. While not nearly as complex as picking up and playing a real guitar, it is going to require some nimble fingers and a sense of rhythm. This game is not for the faint of heart of the chronically uncoordinated you will be sorely disappointed if you find that you can't really progress through the game. I wouldn't recommend this game for most younger children (under 10), as they probably lack the manual dexterity to play with any degree of success. Since you only unlock songs by first completing a very small set of songs, you may feel cheated if you are not coordinated enough to soldier through the first 4-5 songs.

In this game, you use the special guitar-shaped controller (you can use a regular controller, but I can only imagine that it would be oodles harder than it already is if you did) to play along with a song. On the screen you see a scrolling guitar neck that displays "notes" that must be played at the correct time by holding down the correct fret button and strumming on the guitar's strum bar. As the difficulty increases, the number of notes in use increases from three to five and the combinations and chords become more difficult to hit as the tempo increases. There are special notes that appear occasionally which give you "star power" that allows you to perform special tricks that fire up the crowd and increase your score. As you complete enough of a bracket of five songs, the next bracket opens up and unlocks a new venue for your band. At the end of each song, you get a review and rating along with details of how many notes you hit and a breakdown of the sections of the song, so that you can go to practice mode and work on the sections of the song you did poorly on.

The game includes a Career mode where you unlock songs by finishing them successfully, as well as a Quick Play mode where you can just play along with songs you've unlocked without worrying about a score, a Practice Mode which allows you to play all or just parts of a song as well as slow it down so you can nail the particularly tough parts at a slow speed before working on them at full speed. There's also a multiplayer mode that allows you to cooperate or compete with another player. In Career Mode, you can also earn money (on Medium level or higher) that allows you to unlock different guitars and guitar finishes, additional songs, and other characters and outfits.

I would tell you what this game looks like, but when you're playing it's almost impossible to see anything else happening because you're so intent on watching the notes and playing along. I generally see the scene before and after playing the song, and while the song is playing I barely catch anything else besides the notes. Overall, the graphics and animation are very good. If there's one complaint I have, it's that the notes in Star Power mode are sometimes very difficult to see because the whole thing gets wsahed out in the same blue color. That's my shortcoming, though, not the game's, really.

There is a really nice cross-section of rock music here, from Heart to Iron Maiden and Reverend Horton Heat, spanning hair/glam metal, heavy metal, surf/rockabilly and straight-up rock. The XB360 version will have additional downloadable content, supposedly including all of the songs from the original Guitar Hero, and probably many new tracks in the future. A representative of the publishers claims that GHII will ultimately offer more downloadable content than any other XB360 game, and the potential is certainly there.

I am a bit bummed by the fact that practically minutes after the long-awaited release of GHII for the 360, they also announced the upcoming release of GHIII for this winter and a new game called Rock Band which will incorporate not just guitar controllers, but a microphone and drum controllers, allowing multiplayer action as an entire rock band. Seems like I'll still be trying to master GHII by the time the other games come out... they ought to have spaced out the releases a little better.

For the last few years, the Guitar Hero franchise has ruled the music video game world. A combination of great mechanics and stellar songs made the game irresistible to anyone who found Dance Dance Revolution a little less accessible. If you haven't been in a coma the last few years, you have to had at least heard of the game. If you're one of those people who haven't, however, this is as good of a time as any to pick up the axe and start shredding.

The Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II comes in at the steep price of $90, $20 higher than it's Playstation 2 predecessor. Of course, Xbox 360 owners are well accustomed to higher prices for their games. But if you're going to shell out close to $100 for a video game, you better hope that that money is well-spent. So is it?

Well, yes and no. If you already own the Playstation 2 version of the game, I really can't recommend this purchase. The game plays identical to that version, and the majority of the songs are the same. What the Xbox 360 version offers over the PS2 version, however, is high-definition graphics, an additional 10 tracks to master (with the promise of more to be available for download at a later date)and Xbox Live support of Leaderboards and Achievement Points. If wanting to see where you stack up against the rest of the world is important to you, or if you've already worn out all the songs on the PS2, you might want to consider making the jump. But still, $90 to play a few new songs is asking a lot.

Having played both versions, I'd say the biggest drawback to the Xbox 360 version of the game is that there is no multiplayer support over Xbox Live. Whether it's an issue of laziness or cost, I'm not sure. But $90 is a lot to pay when you're getting a bare bones version of what you're used to getting on Xbox Live. This is my biggest complaint about the game. Spending an extra $50 or $60 on an extra guitar for multiplayer is a big investment. The lack of Live support for multiplayer is extremely disheartening.

Overall, Guitar Hero II is still a fantastic game, and if you can afford it you definitely need to check it out on Xbox 360. Especially if you haven't played it yet. With the additions of Leaderboards and Achievement points, and downloadable content, this is definitely the best version of the game yet! But if you already own it on PS2, you might want to wait until a price drop comes around. $90 is simply too much for a game that you already own.

Presentation: 8.0 New Xbox 360 Guitar looks and feels great. Game great game!

Graphics: 7.5 Nothing special. Hi-Def graphics are nice, but it's still all about the music.

Sound: 9.0 Some great covers. New tracks by The Toadies and Pearl Jam are awesome!

Gameplay: 9.5 There's a reason it's so addicting. Sometimes you get lost in a solo and feel like you're actually playing a guitar!

Lasting Appeal: 8.0 Hopefully the downloadable content will be constant. If you've already played the songs on PS2, there's not a lot to hold your attention otherwise.

Overall: 8.5

Honest reviews on Guitar Hero 2 Bundle with Guitar -Xbox 360

I'm completely new to the Guitar Hero franchise, and having played the guitar for 15+ years, naturally I was a bit skeptical.

Guitar Hero II is a great game.

Pros:

-Very funny "in-jokes" for fans of rock music; hilarious charicatures of music stereotypes, ie: punk rocker, metal thrasher, gothic rocker

-Excellent interface; easy to navigate menus

-Various difficulty levels which greatly add to replay value

-Song selection has some great riff-based songs: "killing in the name of", "last child", "Strutter", "shout at the devil", which are TONS of fun to play.

-Song selection gets more challenging and exposes you to a few rock songs from bands you might already know, which you may not have heard before.

-downloadable content will extend replay value

Cons:

-The song selection, particularly towards the end, tends to lean towards a newer style of heavy-metal (ie: Lamb of G-d) which I don't find particularly interesting from a technical perspective, nor enjoyable to listen to. If we're talking about interesting guitar metal, I'd much rather riff out to old Metallica, ie: Master of Puppets

-Song selection lacks a lot of classics: Sunshine of Your Love, Purple Haze, Black Dog..etc.

-Not much to do in single-player mode besides play through songs on tour. I would have liked to see more single-player game modes.

-EDIT: very few downloadable songs for this edition of the game. There were supposed to be more.

I have played the PS2 version of both Guitar Hero I and II and just finally got my own version for the Xbox360.

This game is fantastic, that is just the best way to explain the overall play. I am sure you have read or seen many reviews of this game so I will keep this kind of short.

Pro's

Graphics are smoother than the PS2, not a huge improvement but they are prettier.

Unlimited replay value more or less.

Tons of Achivements to unlock.

Soon to have downloadable songs

I like the new guitar over the PS2 one.

Cons.

Wired guitar.

Yeah that is about it.

***** One thing I would like to add after owning this game for a little while now. The Guitar itself is kind of annoying. It seems a couple of the buttons like to stick a few times within a song. Now coming from a game where perfection matters this does get a tad on the frustrating side from time to time. I still stick to my guns on this is a great game but I will be purchasing another guitar in the future. I hope a 2nd company makes a wireless one. *********

I wasn't expecting a lot from this fan given the price. Unfortunately, I was still disappointed. The fan was extremely loud, didn't run smoothly, and did nothing to prevent my console from overheating. Pass on this. You may have to pay more, but at least you won't be flushing money down the toilet

I bought this because I thought it would be a good way of avoiding the RROD on my Xbox 360.

This item was 100% defective, if I could give it negative stars I would.

The plastic clamps that hold it in place were already broken off when it arrived and to top it off it was not turning on.

AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS.

this game is great, the fans of dynasty warriors and samurai warriors will enjoy it imensly. the levels are long and beutiful and chocked full of guys, as long as you want to you can wade through enemy troops being able to now choose three officers instead of one, you switch between them during battle using the triggers meaning you can zip around the map with faster characters then switch to the powerhouses when in battle, you can also switch during combos making it harder to be stopped. goemon ishkawa and kunoichi are back but katsuie shibata and koji sasaki are left out. still, one of the best warriors games so far, if it had a character creation system it'd be perfect but alas there is none. with 4 storylines to choose from it's fun for hours of rampaging slaughter.

This is worth every penny to any Dynasty/Samurai Warriors die hard fan!

First off the graphics are the same. Frame f=rate may be a little smoother but overall the game is worth the price when you compare it to the rest of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Someone mentioned that it's too easy to unlock the characters....ok dude it's over 70 playable fighters how hard does it have to be for you to feel like you got your money worth? Play it on the hardest mode then say that. Who has that much free time? Not everyone, that's for sure. I think the game is excellent how it is. I like how they made the upgrade system and the 3 tag team is a plus. Until they step up with a next generation game with todays expectations, Warriors Orochi is the BEST of the series next to the Dynasty Warriors GUNDAM for any GUNDAM fans. The price for Warriors Orochi is fair to what the game offers and I can bet you in a year this will be a very hard to find game on certain systems. I've played most of the Dynasty Warriors series since it started off as a one on one sword fighting game like SoulCaliber for PS one. This is a must have to any D.W. fan! No other Dynasty or Samurai Warriors game has this many playable characters available on the same game. Some games are ment to trade in and some are ment to keep. My opinion, this is a sleeper hit for the series and a keeper. There is really no need to buy a Dynasty or Samurai Warriors game if you get this one.

Best Deals for Warriors Orochi - Xbox 360

For those who don't enjoy hours upon hours of repetitive game-play, then this game is not for you. For those who've enjoyed the offerings of the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors series, then this game is right up your alley.

The game contains over 80 playable characters, and, if I had to make any criticism, it would be that these characters are too easy (phenomenally easy) to unlock.

Honest reviews on Warriors Orochi - Xbox 360

I've been a fan of Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Koei games in general for quite some time now. And there are certain groups of people for which Koei games are a favorite. If you read many of the gamer magazines you'll find that most Koei games automatically receive low ratings. I think that there is a bias against Koei games but I really don't care what other people think about the franchise, I'll continue to buy Koei games because I like them. Warriors Orochi brings together the warriors from both DW and SW with an interesting storyline. I would've like more cinematics. This game feels slightly rushed but still a great bet for geniune fans.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Warriors Orochi - Xbox 360

It was an idea that should have been test marketed a little more because if most of the players who play Dynasty Warriors 5, 6, 7. or 8 are playing for one major reason.... slash and kill as many of the enemy as possible. Pretty straight forward. In Orochi, they threw in some weird changes that do not enhance this pleasure. If you like being able to change characters with the push of a button and keep track of their health and other things, you might like this. I myself will stick with the basic slash and kill approach.
