I bought two different versions of these glasses. The other one can be found for $27 and is made by the company, they feature an orange stripe on the outer edges.

Out of the two, I would have thought the more expensive version (these glasses) would have been better however the opposite ended up being true. These glasses are well made, but heavy and quite uncomfortable. They are made worse by the fact that the frame doesnt hide behind your peripheral vision, meaning you see the frame while you wear them. ON the flip side the cheaper pair that I mentioned earlier is lighter, far more comfortable and covers nearly all of your field of view. This means while gaming or using the computer, you forget that you are wearing the glasses. They hug the face and cover the eyes completely.

Great brand, great glasses but I recommend the cheaper lighter model if you are getting this for function and not style.

Disclosure: Game only review played on a PS3

If you're thinking about getting this game, you're probably thinking some things like: Uh oh...a game based on a book/TV show?....That usually doesn't work. Or maybe you're thinking: Point and click?...Check please! Or maybe you're not too excited about the month to month episode thing? Or maybe you didn't like some of Telltale's past titles?

And you know what, some of your concerns may even be valid; it really depends on your expectations for this awesome release, so let me try to set some of those expectations. First of all, The Walking Dead game is for and will be loved by--and loved by is a guarantee, graphic novel readers--any true fan of Robert Kirkman's source material. Anyone looking to run and gun down zombies will not get that out of this game. You certainly don't have to have read the book or seen the show to enjoy this game; just be sure that you are planning to get into and be part of a story-rich experience.

The Walking Dead game is no Burn Zombie Burn or some other bash as many zombies' brains in as possible game. This game is a lot more of an RPG than a shooter.

You start the game the day the zombie apocalypse begins concurrently from the start of the comic book series. You play as Lee, and just as in the book (and in the TV show) where the main character Rick was initially thrown into a chaotic journey by himself to find other survivors...that's you as Lee in The Walking Dead game.

There are plenty of action sequences, but your time in this game is mostly spent literally being a part of the story making some tough (and some not so tough) decisions. It's the tough decisions that will affect how the rest of the game unfolds for you, and you'll have to live with the consequences of every option you choose.

The game does give you the option of "rewinding" back to a specific checkpoint, and you can go forward from there and choose a different option that overwrites your original decision if that's your style. But I won't do that until I complete the entire series. I tried to make the main character call "the right move" when presented with choice; but there is a time limit when decision time comes, and sometimes you may regret a hasty decision. For example, you'll have to choose one life over another twice during just the first episode, and I'm not sure that I made the "right" choice in one of those moments. But I will live with my decision until after playing through the entire series just to "keep it real." The game sure does get an A for replay value.

Just as in the graphic novel (and the TV show), the story is much less about zombies and more about what happens to society, its morals, laws and standards when government is lost and the planet becomes mostly uninhabitable. But this time you don't just watch it unfold on paper or on your TV screen; in this game you're part of the story...you control your integrity, your morality and ultimately your destiny. And there's real, heartfelt emotion in The Walking Dead game combined with very believable scenarios. Color me a sissy, but I actually got a little misty over one of the decisions that "I had to" make.

The Walking Dead game is excellent...especially for just a point and click. It's as gritty and graphic as the comic book, and it's very story-rich. If you read the comic as I do...you'll love it. The graphics are appropriately very comic-bookesque. I really do feel like I'm part of a different story arc in the freakin' book! Best 20 bucks I've spent all year...so far. Plus anyone clamoring for a Platinum Trophy (or whatever the top achievement for getting all in-game achievements is on your platform) could get an easy one here; all the trophies are unmissable simply by finishing all the chapters in every episode.

The Walking Dead game is a deep, personal and emotional adventure.

The Walking Dead Episode 1: A New Day

I picked up The Walking Dead a few days ago on the PC through Steam and just finished Episode 1: A New Day today. A New Day is the only episode out right now with four others coming out one at a time later on in the year. Telltale Games is well known for their adventure games and that's exactly what The Walking Dead is... and an amazing one at that.

During the course of the first episode you are given several different choices, most of which determine whether who lives and who dies. The game promises to roll these choices over in the next episodes, giving your play through a chance to differ than others playing it. Upon completion of the episode stats are shown at the end as far as where you stand with others who have played through it and the choices you made.

Graphically the game has a sort of cell shaded feel to it. Some of the textures are kind of muddy, but the overall feel of the game really goes well with the atmosphere. I've never read the comics of the same name before, but it definitely gives off a comic book feel. The Walking Dead is pretty brutal and bloody, but because of how the graphics is it really doesn't seem as bad as it probably should. Nonetheless, you still get the horror zombie feel that you know and love.

Controls are simple, mostly consisting of you either controlling the main character Lee or by controlling an on-screen cursor in order to find things in the environment to interact with... like smashing a zombie's head in or handing a little girl an energy bar because she's hungry.

The grunts and moans of the zombies sound great and the soundtrack really adds a spooky ambiance to each situation that arises whether it be an intense fight with a walker or a moody conversation about someone that has just been killed.

The first episode of The Walking Dead is a homerun in my opinion. If you love zombies and adventure games you really should pick this up. I just hope the great story telling and all the choices made in the first episode really transition well throughout the rest of the episodes.

Best Deals for The Walking Dead

Do you like bleak and terrible scenarios where s*** gets real on a regular basis? Do you enjoy moral quandaries where a common theme leads to inevitable mistakes that, while making you sympathetic to the characters, still piss you off when everything goes to hell? The Walking Dead is like Grey's Anatomy for boys: sans romance, add zombies, but still frustrating, depressing, random, gory, exciting, and with well written characters (for the most part.)

If you're expecting a shoot-em-up style game then this isn't for you. It's basically an animated Choose Your Own Adventure, and yes, just like a CYOA, you get railroaded into certain outcomes (which really sucks.) But more about that later.

First, the pros.

The writing is not bad, but it is very bleak. Don't get attached to the people you meet, they're most likely not going to make it--this is the zombie apocalypse, after all. I appreciated that characters are not simply written as good or bad people. Quite often, people you hate will redeem themselves and I was almost always sympathetic to their objectionable actions (didn't stop me from killing them, though.) There are plenty of moral quandaries and I advise you to reflect on them whenever you have a break between calamities because, in the heat of the moment, you will likely be forced to make life or death decisions based on their actions.

You can influence what people choose to an extent, but their choices are largely driven by their personalities. It is very important that you remember their individual quirks because they will come back to haunt you again and again. With some I found it irritating, because you feel like just when you've settled a matter it comes back up like last night's taco dinner, but you have to remember their priorities are not your own, except in a very general sense (survival.) In this way, people who are alone are the most agreeable. I think this is very realistic.

That doesn't mean people can't waver or won't overcome their (sometimes significant) personality flaws. Like I said, almost all choices by the characters are sympathetic, including your own, which makes it interesting.

Now the cons.

Despite having such a complex and intriguing cast and dialog options, some outcomes are set in stone. This completely blows! When you agonize over all your choices and the consequences are so dire, you really don't want to find out after the fact that it doesn't really matter. I restarted some chapters 3 or 4 times to try to save certain people or build different relationships only to change nothing. There is no re-playability in this game.

There are also some internal rules to this universe that never seem to change. I can't really explain without spoilers, but the game will urge you into certain actions as if they're universally acceptable to all people in all situations. This is stupid. Sometimes, the wrong thing is the right thing, depending on when or the people involved. The other characters seem blind to this fact and act like you've p*ssed in their cereal whenever you violate this absolute. They can be very childlike and irritating in this way. And some characters have some kind of omniscient hindsight into whenever you're lying, even when you're just being ambiguous. Seeing as you start out as a player with a criminal past, I'm not sure what they expect. Should I show off my prison tats before or after we shake and promise not to shoot one another outright?

Some minor issues are the bugs. I saw one of the characters turn invisible for an entire cutscene. Other than that, the gameplay is atrocious, but I think it's intentional. The mouse acceleration is completely bizarre and when you're not fumbling around trying to click on something, you're frantically mashing the Q button. I think this is supposed to engender a feeling of panic within the player, it's clumsy on purpose because you're not a superhero, you're just some dude. Sometimes the camera angles are idiotic as well.

Finally, the combat doesn't always make sense. Sometimes you'll get an aiming receptacle, other times not (also on purpose, but stupidly introduced, I think.) You'll also be goaded into performing useless actions when the game decides to trick you. You'll mash Q only to realize that you can never mash Q enough and so you've got to just let go. Or you'll be lured into punching a zombie when the only way to escape is to NOT punch the zombie. I did not find this aspect fun, but thankfully they don't pull this you often.

Overall, I'd recommend it, on sale, for those who like a story as long as they know that there's only one story to be told here.

Honest reviews on The Walking Dead

WARNING: IF YOU WANT TO RIDE AROUND ON A MOTORCYCLE WITH CHAINSAWS ATTACHED KILLING ZOMBIES, THIS ISN'T THE GAME FOR YOU.

This game has definitely given me one of the most interactive, realistic experiences I could ever ask for in a simulated zombie apocalypse.

The game is so much better by the fact that every little thing you do, say, and learn will effect the outcome of the game. This game isn't about killing zombies, it's about surviving. That's what we'd be trying to do for real if every boy's secret wish(zombie apocalypse) came true right?

This game is definitely a lot more humbling than L4D or the other popular zombie games.

I recommend this to anyone willing to try a realistic, that really puts you "in the character's shoes".

Not to mention that the graphics are really like out of the comics.

I'm just sad that I have to wait a little while for episode 2 to come out.

Note: I have nothing against other zombie apocalypse games out there.

First off, I'd like to address some of the comments left by other users.

-The graphics are NOT supposed to look realistic. This is because the game is based off of the comics, not the show. In fact, the writer/artist for the comics actually worked with the developers to give the game a very similar look and feel to the style used in the comics. Imagine this game as a mix of zombies and borderlands. Yes, it s 2012, but again, the game is meant to have a comic-look like Borderlands and a few of the various super hero MMO's. While the graphics aren't as "stunning" or "breathtaking" as the first Crysis game, or Skyrim, or Kingdoms of Amalur, they are fantastic by comic standards. Don't think of this game as a real world game, but rather an interactive comic book.

-Just like the graphics, the story is NOT related at all to the show. The game is meant to tell a separate story from that of the show and comics. Why? If it followed the show it would have had to been from the first two seasons, otherwise season 3 (or later) would have been spoiled. The same works for basing it off the comic.

-I played this on a high end gaming computer, not a system, so I can't attest to the camera angles or "shoddy" controls. However, I did use an xBox 360 controller, and it played pretty fantastically.

This game is pretty fantastic. Although, I did kind of dislike the short time for responses when talking to other characters. But, I'm able to over look that one issue, because it adds a bit of a real world feel to it.

I definitely recommend at least finding the first chapter online and giving it a try. If you like it, than buy it. If you don't like it, than don't buy it, and post your own feedback to better help others decide whether or not to buy it.

Keep in mind, the game is separated into 5 chapters, that are released in 1 month intervals. While individually the chapters are fairly short, they will build into a fairly long game, with the added feature of being able to replay and make little decisions that can completely change the end of each chapter as well as how the preceding chapter(s) will play out.

Unfortunately, this game isn't as much fun as I was hoping. The songs are more "pop" than "rock" (that's intentional), but that also means that there just aren't a whole lot of great guitar riffs. In fact, you end up playing keyboard (i.e. "American Pie"), horns and other instruments on your guitar, which just seems out of place and unnatural.

There are a lot of fun songs to sing, and the drum patterns are enjoyable. It's nice to see different types of songs that what we're all used to, but the gameplay just doesn't pair up as well as the music in RB & GH does (maybe we need a keyboard hero?).

I was so pleased to see Paralyzer by Finger 11 (which would have been an appropriate song for the GH series as well) and the Taylor Swift songs are actually some of the best songs on the disk. You also get to import from your other Hero games, including GH5. In what is a nice touch, if you paid to import World Tour and Smash Hits songs into GH5, you won't have to pay to import them into Band Hero. After adding all the imports and downloads, the roster added up to 233 songs, which is nice when you're playing in a party setting.

As an interesting side note, Band Hero is touted as family friendly, so much so that they drop the lyric "whisky" from American Pie, but they include "Dirty Little Secret" whose entire meaning is less than family friendly (good song though).

All in all, it's good, not great, but mostly because the music style doesn't match what you're used to playing in a Guitar Hero/Rock Band game. So, you take the good with the bad: expanded music genre v. playing piano on your guitar.

The song selection is all a matter of personal preference; You either like the songs or you don't. I'm basing my review on the actual gameplay, which is awesome.

It's the same format as guitar hero 5, so if you like that setup, you will like this one. There's a career mode, and each song has an individual challenge with 3 levels of achievement (gold, platinum and diamond).

If you are a fan of rhythm games, which I am, and if you liked guitar hero 5, which I did, then you will probably like this game. The people who give the game low ratings because they don't like the songs, should have checked out the song list before they bought it.

Best Deals for Band Hero featuring Taylor Swift

This game was a nice alternative to Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band. It offers a wider variety than just rock, metal, and emo songs. I'm still waiting for more DLC pop songs that are more popular or recent than the included setlist, as some of the songs are outdated.

The pros to this game are the multiple mics capability. Some times people feel more comfortable singing with others which makes for a better party than, forcing someone to use the mic as the only instrument left. You do receive individual scores with the mics. There's also a party mode where people can jump in and out whenever they want to with the instruments. The only down side is that you can't choose the songs in party mode. Another nice option was the playlist option. Instead of having to pick songs for a playist by default like GHWT, you can turn that option on or off for Band Hero. So people don't get confused with either pressing the green button or the start button. (On Xbox360)

The cons to this game is that it follows the user interface like GHWT. Only the band leader can control the stats screen and choose songs. This gets annoying when your an impatient person and the band leader isn't paying attention to the game. Also, you can't choose your difficulty level right before each song. Instead you have to either back out to the players menu and change it there, or the individual instrument has to press start and change difficulty and restart the song. Either way it's more time wasted than Rock Band's simple difficulty menu before each song. Another annoyance for people with slightly imperfect eye-hand coordination is that Band Hero has less tolerance for error in hitting the notes. You pretty much have to hit them dead on or it will count as a miss. When I was playing I hit all the notes fine, but when my sister was playing she thought there was something wrong with all three of my guitars. Then we realized it was the game.

Overall, this game is fun to play if you're into the pop songs included. I'm sure there will be guys out there who aren't willing to sing Taylor Swift, Jesse McCartney and Hillary Duff, but it's definitely fun to watch if you can get them to do it. Good times....

I have 4 controllers. The GOW3 limited edition, an old black controller that has a mod that I bought a long time ago, the plain black controller that came with my console, and this one.

This blows every other controller out of the water. The controller has endured lots of heavy gaming, and the mod has helped give me the edge on so many occasions. That extra split second of shooting faster does wonders. Everyone seems to play with mods now so unless you have one you can't really keep up. And I'm pretty sure this mod is better than a lot of other ones out there since I'm definitely shooting faster.

I am really happy with my purchase. The price was right as well. I really feel that it was a great value since the GOW3 controller I bought was only $15 cheaper and it didn't have a mod or the cool look like this. Highly recommended.

The controller has a mind of its own most of the time it doesn't respond to the orders I'm telling it do.

Best Deals for Chrome Purple/White Xbox 360 Modded Controller (Rapid Fire) COD

I love almost everything about this controller except for it's connection range. It's beautiful to look at, works exceeding well in game play, once you figure out the codes the mods are easy to change and very helpful, and even though I was afraid the glossy mirror cover would get sweaty from extended usage, it's actually no worse than the standard black matte covering (maybe even a little better).

However, the controller's range is only about 9 feet, once past that the connection drops frequently. I've tried both rechargeable and AA batteries, but still experience the same problem. Since the edge of my couch is about 10 feet from my Xbox, I have to lean forward hunched over to play with any reliability. If it weren't for this problem, I would easily give 5 stars as other than this one issue its the best controller I've ever used.

If you normally play close to your Xbox then you should definitely give this puppy a shot, but if you sit 9+ feet away be ready for some massive frustration as you continually lose your controller for 15 seconds while it reconnects.

I am not much of a gamer. The Wii has been my first game console since the Playstation a LOOOONG time ago. In fact, games usually bore me. Not this one.

The experience with the wii-mote is awesome. This game should come packaged with the Wii because it shows off just how wll the wii-mote can immerse the player into the game! Something like this would be utterly boring with a regular controller. But when you're swinging the remote over your head like a lasso, or holding a hose in your right hand and pumping with your left... or tippy toeing with your arms close to your body... or jumping rope or slapping bunnies with your backhand... YOU GET THE PICTURE. They really did this game well. It's so much fun. Tons of laughs.

We played the game ALL DAY yesterday and all night today and finally passed the 1-player story-mode game (unlocking all the multiplayer games). It was fun. We were very loud. Certain levels were very challenging and required many rounds with the controller being passed from hand to hand between the 5 of us.

The game has an excellent soundtrack. Graphics, I don't know, they looked pretty good. The bunnies were cute! The game is great for kids of all ages because there is no killing. You just shoot bunnies with plungers and they cry and go away! Hilarious. That's one thing about this game that will catch you off guard.. It's FUNNY. You will find certain stages, animations, games instantly hilarious. Fat bunnies running all over your screen, what more can you ask for?

I would like to highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to play Wii games with a party-type atmosphere. In all honesty, playing this game alone will be fun but might get old after a while. That's why single player games (like Zelda) have things like puzzles and mysteries to keep you occupied. This game is just pure fun with the controllers and reflexes and skills. I have a hard time paying attention to any game that takes more than 5-10 minutes per level. I don't feel like my games should stress me out like my job.

This game is mindless fun. We all loved it. Get it. Here is a breakdown of our diverse little party group over the past 2 days:

May 2010 Update:

Just an update to say the sound card is still working fine. I've moved over to Fedora Linux now and this beast installed without a hitch (no restart required of course, unlike Windows!). All in all happy with the Turtle Beach amigo. If I had to do it all over again I'd probably go with the Micro II since that seems to be offered in the real black color I was looking for (don't need the mic input that badly), but this is still a good product!

INTRODUCTION:

My 1 year old Star Tech USB Sound Card (Model # ICUSBAUDIO) decided to break literally two days before Turtle Beach released their updated Amigo and Micro cards. The reason it broke was a phsyical design that I wasn't happy about with nearly all USB sound card adapters, including Turtle Beach's previous Micro iteration.

I can't explain it well, but they have the metal connector fused right into the card. My Star Tech literally had the metal connector eventually come apart. Just really cheap, but for the price you can't complain.

So, rather than ordering another cheap USB sound card that will probably give out in another few months I put in a pre-order for this Amigo II refresh that was slated to be out March 16 2010.

MINUSES:

First, let me get the bad out of the way and list why I don't think it's deserving of a perfect 5 stars.

This comes in a clam shell type packaging so it's an inconvenience to have to go find some scissors just to get it out.

The color of the adapter is not a dark gray/light black as the stock picture might lead you to believe. It is actually a very light to medium gray color. Kind of disappointing to me because I wanted it to match the black laptop it was being used with.

There is this really annoying blue indicator light that just keeps flashing on and off every second (unfortunately, it's on the side where you will have it be facing up in clear view to you).

It still makes that little pop sound when you put it in your computer like the older USB sound cards, but not as annoying.

POSITIVES:

New design should have this last for years. This comes as a little cable attached to the card. Now the USB metal connector part is no longer "fused" into the card itself, rather there is a short little cable that is attached to it, making a distinct separation between card and connector. This should make the product last a long time (I hope). I have never had a USB cable go out on me, and this looks like that, so it should be ok. Of course, I have only just got the Amigo II today so I can't say for sure if this will be the case...

When driving the volume up, it's not like the other USB sound cards you might have used where it's really, really loud even at the lower volume settings (I think I had my old Star Tech only at one or two volume bars out of like 20!). It looks to me like Turtle Beach toned it down where you really can up your computer sound a bit more bars/notches and not have to worry about it being too loud. Even at the loudest possible setting on my laptop, I find plausible to listen to (just like using my native sound card built into my laptop -but definitely louder of course!).

Sound quality wise, it's pretty good to me. I wouldn't say it's a noticeable improvement to my old sound card. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I know there's products that sell for way more than this that will probably give you better sound quality if you are really willing to pay for it. I honestly don't notice much background static noise even on the highest volume, so I think this is reasonably good. My old sound card had a lot of static noise at those type of volume levels...

I haven't used the microphone input. Most people will most likely get the Amigo II over the Micro II because the Micro does not have a mic input. If you need the Digital Audio Out feature though, you should get the Micro. Since I am going to be using headphones with this only and not connect it to another sound system, there was no real advantage to get the Micro for me personally, as I assume both products would give you the same analog sound quality.

Also, this is just plug in, let your OS do its thing, and play. Although I did have to restart Windows 7 after it installed the drivers (automatically). But no software or additional processes taking memory away needed to make this work.

CONCLUSION:

Overall I recommend this because I think it will last a longer time than the other conventional sound cards. I will try to remember to update this review in case this sound card ever breaks down in the near future. If it breaks within a year, you should be covered because Turtle Beach has a 1 year warranty.

I was primarily wanting to have a 2nd output device for my headphones, so I didn't constantly have to fiddle with cords to answer calls when switching from my desktop speakers. I wanted my 3.5mm Razer headset to just work independently, and this accomplishes that very well.

Unfortunately, the mic input port is absolutely useless. It plays the input back directly to the audio out port (headset speakers)! This isn't utilizing the Windows option, either. It happens directly in the hardware, making it impossible to disable.

This makes that feature of the product absolutely useless. I don't need to hear myself, I do that just fine already.

I ended up plugging the mic directly into the computer, since it doesn't need to be isolated.

It's astonishing to me how stupid of an engineering decision there must have been to decide to play back input through the output. It makes absolutely no sense, and this is NOT what most people want.

Best Deals for Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Amigo II USB Sound Card & Headset

Others have reviewed this product (thank you!). From the many USB sound devices available at Amazon, I chose this one because it requires no software drivers, because the soundcard is not rigidly attached to the USB, and because of the of the reviews here at Amazon.

No software required. Using with linux is easy. Plug it in and Ubuntu identifies it. In Preferences / Sound, tell it which audio hardware to use. That's it. It is just as easy to use with Fedora and Sabayon Linux. I have not checked it with other versions of linux yet. It can't do 5.1 audio without the 'Windows-only' driver. If Turtle did not mention 5.1 audio, then I would not feel disapointed that I can't get 5.1 on linux. The bad reviews I have seen for this product are from users of the optional 5.1 drivers. I have decided to be happy without 5.1 audio.

The short bit of cable between the USB plug and the soundcard allows it to plug in any USB without blocking adjacent USP connectors. This also adds some flex so that accidental bumps and tugs do not damage the connectors. This has the benefits of a USB extension cable without the extra cost and extra clutter.

I got this product to replace a broken headphone jack on a laptop. It works very well for that. Sound is louder and clearer, a big improvement over the original audio. Also, the audio jack on this product has a very firm grip on the headphone plug so there is no 'loose conector' audio noise.

Having an older generation Macbook Pro running Windows XP, I find that I've got a good sound card that works in both OS's and delivers good quality sound and microphone. The crop of Macbook Pros that mine are a part of don't have mic in ports (only line in), so I've been bouncing back and forth between a usb headset and AKG k-44's for video editing (I'm a film major). It was supremely annoying to have to switch the audio drivers every time and also annoying to know I was packing two headsets for no good reason. Enter the Amigo II, which works with both os's no questions asked.

The mic comes through nice and loud, and the audio is good (no discernable pops or humming, clicking or other artifacts). I'm no audiophile, but I need decent audio to do film editing, and I don't think I'll have any problems with this.

The only reason I didn't give this a five is because I've had it for all of four hours and there's no driver, which means no equalizer. Not a big deal, but a little annoying. Also, with the mic plugged in, it always transmits into the headphones. This can get a bit annoying, but isn't a big problem.

I have been a fan of Half Life, so I knew I would get this for Xbox 360. (I prefer playing games on consoles.) I was also curious about the other games in this package. There is one disc...when you put it in the 360 a main menu comes up with five choices across the bottom of the screen...1. Half Life 2, 2. Half Life 2 Episode One, 3. Half Life 2 Episode Two, 4. Portal and 5. Team Fortress 2. That's right 5 games! One disc. One box. $59.99! Great deal.

Half Life 2 appears to be much better looking graphically than the original Xbox version...there are not as many glitches either. The backwards compatible version had quite a few bugs that made playing the game on the 360 quite annoying. Not to worry here. The game play is smooth and quite comparable to the PC version. The bonus here of course is that you have both Episodes One and Two to move on with after completing Half Life 2...or you can play just Episode One or Two. You don't have to solve one to play the others. That may be beneficial if you have played Half Life 2 and just want to jump right into the Episodes. The graphics on the Episodes really shine...it looks amazing...they did a great job with this version.

Portal is an interesting game and quite challenging. It seems very similar to Half Life 2 in that it is in first person, but this is more of a puzzle game. You have a portal shooting gun, and you have to figure out how to use the device to get through a maze or puzzle. There are a few twists on this too...moving platforms, switches, blocks, weight activated floor buttons, electrical sensor receptacles, energy emitting zappers that can activate the receptacles and later in the game this is even more complicated by motion sensing robotic machine gun turrets. It really stimulates the brain. It definitely makes you think outside the box. Eventually, you get the ability to shoot two different portals...one an entry portal, and the second an exit portal. I got addicted to this game and played for two hours straight until I became completely stuck and confused. I had to put it down and relax for a while...I was getting a little too intense. I can't wait to play again.

Team Fortress 2 is an online multiplayer based game. You are set up into teams, and then there are different objectives to play. I only played it twice, so I don't know all the ins and outs of it. However, it does look quite interesting. There are a few different characters to choose from with different abilities. These abilities can make one character better at defending a base, one is better at going out and stalking the other team, etc. There are snipers, medics, heavy weapon handlers, spies, scouts and a few others that I can remember. This game appears to have some replay value and a lot of fun for online multiplayer.

With all those games in one box and on one disc, who wouldn't want it for $59.99?!? This is truly the best deal in video game history. Why don't more companies do this and release more content at one time? This may make developers think about quantity in addition to quality.

I should mention up front that I'm a PC gamer, and that while there are some here that might hold that against me (you console folks can be brutal) I'm going to give as honest a review of the Orange Box games as I can. Given that Valve's release coincided with some catastrophic malfunction of my wife's car, the funds I had set aside for this game for my PC ended up getting sucked up into car repairs, thus I was forced to play this on my brother's Xbox 360. And that said I thoroughly enjoyed the Xbox version, much to my surprise, even without a mouse and keyboard to aim and shoot with.

Orange Box includes the original Half Life 2, and it's subsequent followups Episodes 1 and 2. In addition it contains the quirky spatial-puzzle game Portal, and as icing on the cake Team Fortress 2. To get these separately (at least on PC) would run in the realm of $250, more or less, and to get all 5 games in one bundle for all of $60 is too good to be true. On to the actual reviews.

Half Life 2 begins with MIT PhD Doctor Gordon Freeman, released some 20 years after the Black Mesa incident by the G-man and into a dystopic City 17. It appears that Earth has been conquered by a galactic conquering empire of sorts who used Freeman's previous handiwork at Black Mesa to burrow through the walls of time and space to invade Earth. The game follows his insertion into this volatile situation culminating in his leadership of Earth's rebellion against the Combine Overwatch. The game's "silent protaginist" approach, where the player's character never speaks, is played out perfectly and adds greatly to the storytelling angle. The game tells it's own story and you're basically along for the ride. The weapons selection is fairly standard fare for a shooter, with your usual selection of pistols, rifles, and the ubiquitous shotgun. The real nice touch is the Gravity Gun, which can pick up loose objects on the ground and can then be used to hurl said objects at your enemies. The sound, voice acting, and atmosphere of the game (of a familiar world turned into an Orwellian style police state) are all fantastic.

Episodes One and Two both continue the story as Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance both try to escape City 17 in the former and deal with the remnants of the Combine in the latter. Each new episode showcases a new technology add to the engine (lighting effects for Episode One, motion blur for Episode Two) to increase gameplay.

When I loaded up Portal I had only the vaguest idea of what to expect. The game is admittedly hard to grasp at first and requires you to think puzzles out using Euclidean geometry and Newtonian physics and a little bit of brain juice all mixed in. The game begins with the protaginist, a female in an orange jumpsuit, being forced to complete a number of puzzles for the test facility's computer using a hand-held portal generating device. One can cross chasms by blasting an entry hole in the wall next to you and an exit hole in the wall across the chasm and simply cross it by walking through the portal. Each test gets harder, and it becomes apparent as things move along that the computer running the tests (and you) is more than a little deranged. As this game is set in the Half-Life universe I look forward to seeing how the plot of this game fits in with that of the larger title.

Lastly we come to Team Fortress 2. I must admit that I have loved Team Fortress since it's inception and have played it religiously since 1998 on the PC. This game spent the better part of 7 years in development limbo and those of us among the originals fans were pretty skeptical that the game would ever be released at all, but the finished product is here and is an absolute blast. Players can pick one of among nine classes to play, from the lightly armed but fast moving Scout, to the lumbering two-legged tank Heavy. There are only 6 maps included in the game, which is a downside, but the maps themselves are quite solid and the game dynamic is unique. The game itself is done in a style reminiscent of "The Incredibles" and this lends some rather comedic elements to the overall experience. The game is entirely Capture the Flag (CTF) so don't expect to go into Deathmatch as it was never designed to do this.

There are some minor points I must mention about Orange Box though. For starters the Half-Life games are really dark. I've had the benefit of having played this on the PC and the lighting is pretty ho-hum on the Xbox version. Case in point, even with the brightness on the game turned up you can still barely see in even dusk conditions, let alone the details on your weapons. The caveat here is that if you turn the brightness up *too* much then you end up getting flooded with bright light when you enter better lit areas, resulting in a weird glaucoma-style whiteout. Expect to have your HEV suit light on *a lot*. In addition the surface textures aren't quite as crisp as I what I was accustomed to with my previous experiences on the PC, although this didn't detract from the game that much.

I also felt it something of a disservice to 360 owners that as big as the game release was Valve kind of dropped you into the *middle* of the story, without the courtesy of even giving the new HL player an overview of what's happened thus far. The events of Half Life, HL: Opposing Force, and HL: Blue Shift are all integral to the storyline, and taking someone completely new to the story and simply dropping them off halfway through it seemed a puzzling choice. As they'd gone as far as making a game release this big how difficult would it have been to at least add HL 1:Source into the mix? Granted, it's an eyesore by today's standards, but still.

With TFC2 I don't have complaints, more like concerns. In the PC world you have literally thousands of custom player-made maps, as well as numerous Valve releases, and I'm wondering if players will be able to play classic Valve TFC maps like "Rock" and "Hunted". I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult to accomplish, but all in all it was a befuddling thing to place such a great, solid game into the mix with only 6 maps. And I'm wondering if they plan to eventually add class-specific grenades as those would most certainly enhance the gameplay.

Still the game package itself is fantastic and it's clear that a lot of love was poured into their production and subsequent carryover to the 360. I'm impressed enough with the 360's performance with these games that even an old, grizzled PC gamer like myself is giving it a serious second look. Cannot recommend Orange Box enough! Now if only they had a mouse/keyboard setup for old PC diehards like me to play with. :)

Best Deals for Orange Box - Xbox 360

Not only is this game the best value in console history, with 5 quality titles, its also includes some of the most innovative first-person game play design as well. I'll review each title:

Half-Life 2 (4.5/5) Probably the single best 1-player first person shooter ever made, definitely for the PC. I played this game on the PC and it gets a perfect 5/5 there. The console version gets a 0.5 star deduction if only because the 360 controller proves to be slightly less adept than the mouse/keyboard combo. Combat is fine because they've added some auto aim to compensate, but often times you'll find yourself strafing back and forth at doorways, in order to line up correctly and get through. But the absolute worst is the vehicle control. Halo is the only FPS I've played that got vehicle control right, but HL2 is bound by the rule of never leaving Gordon Freeman's eyes, and so driving must be done first-person. But the driving segments are relatively short, given the total length of the game, and there are plenty of breaks. Certainly not a deal breaker, but still noticeably inferior to the PC version in this regard.

Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (4/5) The first in the "episodic content" experiment, HL2:EP1 returns you to the Citadel, where you ended HL2. The first portion of the game has you repeating the same style of combat, using your enhanced gravity gun. Some new puzzle elements have been added here, which basically involves shooting energy balls around. Its interesting, but not nearly as diverse as the first game. Same with the rest of the game. Although there are some interesting new ideas, and a few new enemies, there is also a little too much repetition for such a short title, and although the story is captivating as always, it doesn't advance very far. Ultimately though, its HL2 so it rocks. These are minor complaints, and would be diminished if it didn't have its predecessor to be compared to. There is also an unbelievable XBox 360 "Achievement" that involves completing the entire game using just one bullet!

Half-Life2: Episode 2 (4.5/5) The first "new" game on the disc. A little longer, and a little better than the previous episode. The game play has changed a little here. There are a few less physics puzzles, and more varieties of combat. A brutal new enemy is unveiled, and quickly gives you a reason to despise them. One of the byproducts of this stylistic change, means more frustration. The first two games are very linear and do an excellent job of indicating ideal strategy, while still letting you "run and gun" if thats your style. While this title is still pretty linear, you have to work out some strategies on your own, and that usually involves dying a lot. In the middle of the game, navigating an underground antlion nest involves EVADING a mother antlion. Its not exactly clear (the AI characters only tell you not to KILL it), and you'll waste ammo (that you ABSOLUTELY need later) if you even try and combat it. For the first time, there is an epic "end battle". This was probably the most intense experience in the whole series, and it follows the same style as above: there are multiple strategies to attack the encroaching enemies. This is the first time I wanted to throw my controller out the window, but finally winning was awesome. When does Episode 3 come out again?

Portal (5/5) Another reviewer has said that if you don't like Portal, then you are stupid. There isn't much else to say. Talk about an innovative idea that is perfectly executed! Portal is not only a unique puzzle game, its wickedly smart and funny. Although the game is far too short, it does have some replay value with a few advanced maps and some other challenges. I'm very interested to see where VALVe take this awesome idea! This is the first real first-person style innovation in a while.

Team Fortress 2 (4/5) The online multiplayer aspect of the package. TF2 is awesome looking (almost cell shaded?) and pretty fun and funny as well. This is class based combat, meaning that if you aren't any good at shooting people than you can be a medic or an engineer or something else useful to the team. I have two complaints. First is that its one player per console. This makes sense as its a ported PC game, but it still suffers when compared to other major FPS online games (ahem, Halo 2 & 3). The second is that the online matchmaking system isn't as smooth as others (ahem, Halo 2 & 3). Once again, this is because its based on the PC model. But its no fun to have find an almost full match only to find out its been filled in the time it took you to push the "A" button and then have to start the whole process over again. There are only a couple maps, but thats OK because it removes some of the steep learning curve. Combined with the simple controls and fixed weapon options, it allows n00bs to jump right in and at least enjoy the experience, unlike other games (ahem, Halo 2 & 3).

So the final verdict is that you have to buy this title. Now. Do it. Click "Add to Cart". Do it.

Honest reviews on Orange Box - Xbox 360

Even if the orange box merely consisted of Half life 2 and its' other two episodes it "still" would have been a steal for the price. However on top of that gamers also get Portal and Team Fortress 2.

For those unfamiliar with Portal it uses the same engine as half life and pits your mind against a diabolical computer which uses everything from deadly traps to psychological war-fare to slow your progress. Your only gadget is a gun that can make portals through solid walls and your sole goal is to get out of a giant experimental maze alive. While the environments are a bit bland in portal the "puzzle aspect" is fun and addictive even for people who would not normally enjoy puzzle games.

Team Fortress 2 is a slapstick humorous co-op online fps which seems to burrow a lot of cheese from old spy espionage movies and action flicks. Every character has side splitting outrageous quirks as well as their own unique weapons and skills.

Besides for Bio shock and Jedi academy I've never been in love with the fps genre. However valve presents each of their concepts with such flare and originality even jaded critics would be hard pressed not to like at least "something" the orange box offers up.

Obviously my favorite game is Half Life 2. The only glaring faults with the game are that the controls are not quite so easy to learn as Bio shock's and that if you have not played the first Half Life the story has many plot holes which remain unexplained.

Once you get into driving a swamp boat with a mounted gun turret around in a series of canals while blasting away at corrupt law enforcers and military helicopters or find yourself crawling around in tunnels filled with organic alien traps that want to slurp you up with their hanging tongues to devour you it is easy to appreciate the vast realistic yet nightmarish environments Half Life 2 offers up to the player.

The story though obscure is also quite good. Apparently as Gordan Friedman you helped develop dimensional travel technology in a place called black mesa. Unfortunately the open doorways you and your cohorts created allowed hostile aliens to spill through. Before you knew it humanity got conquered by a hostile group of crazy tyrannical creeps from a close by neighboring reality. The human resistance which did not succumb to the demands of the enemy despot regime formed lucrative alliances with other aliens who were being enslaved by the same oppressive fraction. They all see you as a type of "messiah" who can bring down "The Man".

The only thing I do not understand is since you are partly responsible for the invasion why does no one see you in a negative light? For a guy that set back human civilization you sure do get a lot of rear-kissing compliments! Besides for that oddity there is also the haughty feeling you get from Friedman. A lot of people talk to him yet Gordon never says anything in turn. You get the subtle feeling he is either mute or a bit conceited. A guy that is supposed to be a sophisticated scientist should have "something" to say to someone. The beautiful, brave, and capable Alyx is always at Friedman's side yet I have not seen him flirt with her yet.

Now that ranting wiener fest is over there were things I enjoyed immensely about the cast in half life 2. The cast you interact with are believable, flawed, and endearing. They are akin to what your neighbors and friends would be like if they were suddenly faced with losing their families, friends, and basic human rights. The men are rightfully rugged and while the females are cute they are not that plastic unrealistic false perfection you find in games such as Soul Calibur 4 or Sexy beach. There are no scantily clad big busted model types running around it slinky red dresses or in super short skirts and halter tops. Half life 2 proves you can make women characters "pretty" yet still respect them as people at the same time.

Honestly I think the gravity gun is one of the best ideas ever but beyond it and your environmental adaptation suit I found the weapons to be lack luster. We've seen the incarnation of the crow bar many times as well as machine guns, assault rifles, pistols, and grenades. While Half life 2 does have a decent Selection Bio Shock had "plasmids" which literally gave you cool powers. But yet if you flip over the same argument Half Life 2's environments are much bigger, there are at least 2 fun scenarios where you get to pilot vehicles, and the game is much longer. My final analysis found me loving both games equally for different reasons. However as far as re-playability is concerned even Half Life 2 by itself trumps Bio shock significantly.

Because of Half Life 2 and every other game within the orange box I cannot offer much of an objection. It is akin to a genie offering you grand wishes for a nickel apiece. Can any gamer honestly argue with a bargain of that magnitude?

Pros

+ All the games are high quality.

+ Besides for Bio Shock Half Life 2 is arguably the best first person shooter out there.

+ Fans of brain teasers will adore portal for its biting humor, wit, charm, and challenge.

+ Team Fortress 2 was a nice addition for co-op play over X Box live. Personally it is not for me but for those that prefer co-op and socializing it is a real gem!

+ A steal for the price!

Cons

All the games still use a basic fps format so the variety is still limited in some aspects.

Unless you have played Half Life 1 Half Life 2 will have you scratching your head on more than one occasion.

Half Life 2's controls are a bit unique from other shooters so mild frustration may occur until you get the hang of things.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Orange Box - Xbox 360

I would just like to point out a few things that should be known about this game, in particular the possible issues concerning multi-player with the different versions.

Firstly, I want to agree with what most of the reviews seem to say, which is that this was a great collection for $50, and now that it's dropped in price it's an excellent deal. The Half-Life 2 game and Episodes 1 and 2 are great, with a great story and gameplay, some great visuals and so on. Portal is amazing, it's combination of semi-dark humor and fantastic gameplay amount to a game which is worth the price of the entire Orange Box. Team Fortress 2 is a well balanced multi-player game, with a class system that makes things interesting and keeps things mostly on an even playing-field.

Unfortunately, it is this last game that brings me to my second point. Team Fortress 2 contains the entirety of the Orange Box's multi-player gameplay, and the Xbox 360 version seems to have less people online at any given time, making it take longer to find a game and giving the player less choice as to what gamemodes or maps to play, since looking for a specific gametype will result in a longer wait. I haven't played the PS3 version, so I'm not certain if it suffers from the same problems, but I think it might because it shares the same additional drawbacks of getting the Xbox 360 version, which are:

-Lack of add-ons. Though Valve, the company that makes The Orange Box, discussed the issue with Xbox 360's creators Microsoft, none of the updates already released for the PC version have made it to the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions. The add-ons are due to be released for the Xbox 360, for a price, and grouped together to account for the cost. Valve attempted make them available for free, since the add-ons have already been released for the PC version for free, but Microsoft wouldn't allow it. No mention has been made of releasing the add-ons for PS3.

-No custom maps. Though a multi-player console game may arguably have the advantage in other areas, it is lacking (in most cases) in the areas of customization. Custom maps and gamemodes have been made for PC games for quite some time, and buying the PC version gives you access to those. You may run the risk of them crashing your PC in some cases, but overall custom maps add variety and entertainment value to the game, the trade-off being that you have to download it first, either on the internet or off the server before you join. The original Team Fortress started as a custom mod for another PC game, and the sequel has only three maps (though more official maps were added to the PC version), and more variety in maps is a welcome addition.

-Lack of split-screen support. For a game that has the word "Team" in it's name, the inability to play it side-by-side with your friends in the same room is a terrible exclusion from the game's features. I've never tried to system link to more than one other Xbox and don't know how many can be linked together. I almost bought this for Xbox in order to play the game against a member of my family. Having rented the game for Xbox previously, I realized that with only 2 people playing and no player bots to speak of (there are some in the Commentary, but they don't play in the game), the potential for fun would be short-lived. If it were possible to have 4 people each on 2 linked Xboxes the experience would still be lacking in comparison to that of having to full teams. Now having played the PC version for a while, I can tell that the game is a little tedious with 4 or less people on each team, with maps designed to hold many more players, it can mean a long walk back to where you last died, depending on how the game is going. The game is really enjoyable with at least 7 people on each team, where there are enough players to give both sufficient backup and more variety and strategy. With split-screen and system link, 4 Xboxes linked with 4 people on them could deliver a better experience. As it is now, it would be much more cost effective to buy the PC version, and as mentioned before, I don't know how many Xboxes can be linked together, so linking 14-16 systems together may not even be possible.

If you are just looking for achievements, only want the single-player experience, or aren't concerned with any of the above, then it's merely a matter of preference. Otherwise, I would suggest you purchase the PC version.

Rock Band Bass Drum Pedal Plate - PEDAL METAL BILLET- FACTORY Review

Rock Band Bass Drum Pedal Plate - PEDAL METAL BILLET- FACTORY BLEMISHED - PLEASE READ PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I know some people will have a hard time ponying up yet more $$$ for their $170 game investment but Pedal Metal isn't to blame. EA is. This is just one of those facts of life, the Rock Band drum pedal will break even if you're careful. After a month in a half mine finally bit the big one.

EA requires currently you send in your pedal and they wait until they receive it. Then and only then will they send you your pedal. This process takes about 3-4 weeks. If you're feeling ancy (such as myself) you can opt that they send you a replacement pedal, then you send in your broken pedal after you receive your new pedal. There's a catch. There's a $150 hold placed on your credit/debit card. If you send it in within a month, its waved and EA will remove the credit card from their system. If you don't, you my friend are now the proud owner of a $150 Rock Band drum pedal. Previously the only offered option B, but without the money hold. However too few customers were returning their old pedals according the rep I spoke to.

So what was to stop my replacement from breaking and repeating same annoying process? Luckily while reading about others experiencing the same problem I discovered that someone had devised a clever solution. For those who haven't had a pedal break, the break in a particular manner as the Pedal itself breaks; between the plastic plate underneath and the toe. The actual springing mechanism and support is fine. Such a break is easily preventable, if the foot pedal were to be made of a more durable material. The solution? If you're a logical person, its a no-brainer to reach the conclusion that the pad needs reinforcement, preferable metal like a real kick drum pad. It's a great idea but if you're like myself you don't happen to have access to metal fabrication tools nor really the experience to manufacture such a piece of metal. However that's where Pedal Metal comes in. Its elegant in its simplicity. For the non-technical, there's even a pictorial instructions included with the pad. I'd even deem this easy enough for a particular ex-GF to follow. The Metal Billet is simply a stylistic choice, as diamond plate just doesn't move me. I doubt there's any difference between the two. Either way, props to Pedal Metal for giving the consumer choice.

I imagine in the future EA may offer the pedals for sale separately but who would you rather give your money to, The tyrant corporation or the guy who was clever enough to capitalize on a poor design? I choose the later.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! After our drum pedal snapped in half TWICE, we found this item. Not only does it repair the broken pedal, but it give us much assurance that this will not be an issue again! The directions are very accurate and thorough, leaving no mistakes to be made if you read them! The delivery was super quick! The pedal plate was easy to install. I recommend this to everyone that has a Rock Band set. I plan to tell all of my friends BEFORE their pedal breaks! Excellent seller, this product is well thought out in its design, sturdy craftmanship, and appearance! BRAVO!

The original plastic pedal has to much flex in the middle. When you play your foot is not always pressing on the very top. That resulted in breaking my pedal twice at that flex point. I superglued and added some rubber stops in the middle of the pedal to help the problem but cracking and messing around continued.

Then I found this product. YES!!! PERFECT!!!

I installed this fine aluminum, brushed finished, counter sunk screwed plate on the top of my multi-repaired plastic stock pedal.

YES!!! PERFECT!!!

Buy it! Pedal to the metal!!!

Note: I did pre-drill the screw holes with a 3/32" bit instead of trying to bore the self-tapping screws (provided) through the plastic by hand. Install the screws by hand in the pre-drilled holes to avoid stripping the threads. The screws seat nice and tight.

Shall I say it again? - YES!!! PERFECT!!! -Enough Said!

Stock pedals snap. That's just a fact of life. Try Blackend on Hard or Expert and tell me I'm wrong. This is the best thing you could ever purchase to protect your RB drum kit. I think TekNmotion should let folks know there is no way to connect the Yapster Blaster headset to Xbox without buying some additional connection cords. It would have saved me some grief Christmas morning! Here's how I got the thing working (and this will only work if you connect your Xbox to your TV using an HDMI cable): Buy an "RCA audio cable adapter for Xbox 360 & Slim," available on Amazon for $1.44 RCA Audio Cable Adapter for XBOX 360 + Slim. Also buy a cord with the red and white male audio connectors on each end RiteAV RCA Stereo Audio Cable (6ft). Follow the headset's included instructions to connect the headset to the controller, etc. When it says to then (miraculously) connect it to the back of the Xbox, use the two items above and the thing will work.

The guy at Radio Shack suggested it might work by connecting the headset directly to the TV and skipping the Xbox altogether this, of course, would still involve the purchase of one of those red and white audio connectors. I'm guessing you could use one of the TV's USB inlets to power the headset. I haven't tried this, though, so I don't know if it would work.

As to sound quality, my boys say the headset sounds great and is very comfortable. They only have the cheap headset that came with the Xbox to compare it to, though.

3 Stars instead of 5 because of the connection hassles. Quality seems fine.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm a gamer and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm typically on the Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, etc., etc.-type games on Xbox 360. The only un-gamerish thing about me is that I've never bought a full stereo headset in my life. However, I have tried friends' Turtle Beach-brand headsets and enjoyed them.

Miraculously, this TekNmotion Yapster Blaster is a superior product to the Turtle Beach headsets . . . and a FRACTION of the cost!

For only $29.99, you can receive a solidly built, well manufactured, and great-sounding headset, vs. the sometimes hundreds of dollars that Turtle Beach charges.

I set this headset up to play Call of Duty: Black Ops and was scoring like I'd never done before. I could hear the entire environment, all the footsteps & gunshots, and knew exactly where it all was like I was on the Black Ops team in real life!

Final Verdict: Don't bomb away a hundred bucks on a set of Turtle Beaches. GET THESE!

I recently acquired an XBOX over Black Friday, and was on the hunt for some headphones to use with both my PC games and the games I got for the XBOX.

When I purchase something online, I tend to obsess over my available options and the price vs. features for the products.

I stumbled across this headset while considering purchasing a Turtle Beach for around $60. I didn't really feel like spending that much, and found this for more than half the price ( I paid $22 when it was on sale).

The packaging was a bit flimsy, but the headset was nicely packaged and arrive unharmed. Overall, this headset is amazing, especially considering the price you pay. I have heard sections of bass in music that I have never heard before! They also work well with the XBOX, and there should be enough adapters to fit your set up.

The only (minor) complaint I have is the plastic used is not as solid as I expected it to feel. Not to say it feels "cheap," (it's actually fairly well built) but just be careful with the headset.

Also, I have noticed that not many reviews anywhere mention the cord length. It was around 8-9 feet, and even a bit longer with the amplifier attachment. If you plan on using these for a room (e.g., dorm room), you should have a range of motion that is plenty large enough to not feel tied down to the console or PC.

Comfort wise, they are as comfortable as pretty much any over the ear headphones like this. I have glasses, and if I wear them for a few hours, they do get a bit cumbersome, but that is the form factor and not due to the product. This is not a deal breaker for me, and really hasn't been that big of an issue. The padding on the headband is a nice plus too! They also block out sound pretty well, which is nice for studying (if I get the time between playing games :P )

Overall, a great product at a great price!

Honest reviews on TekNmotion Yapster Blaster Amplified Universal Headset for Xbox

I've only owned this headset for a couple of days, but I've gotta say it -this thing rocks!! I've used it playing multiplayer Call of Duty on Xbox, as well as other games and also on the PC. For being a stereo headset, it works marvelously. The sound quality is terrific. I formerly owned Turtle Beach X31's (until they broke!) and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between them. The sounds are crisp and powerful, while at the same time not overwhelming. It's a great feeling to get the drop on an opponent because you can hear their footsteps from halfway across the map.

The design of the headset is simple, yet pleasing. It's not gaudy or audacious or overly-bulky -it is compact and comfortable. Setup is relatively straightforward, the 12 feet of cable is more than enough, and the microphone is easily adjustable/flexible, without being flimsy.

The only downside I could find with this headset is that there isn't a separate chat volume control. In order to change the chat volume without changing game volume, you have to manually go into the Xbox settings and adjust the volume to your liking. While it is a pain, this is only a minor setback, and can be easily overcome.

Finally, I've heard some other reviews from people who say that the headset is easily-breakable. I don't find this to be the case at all. The ear and headpieces are adequately sturdy while still providing comfort. I've twisted and pulled on the microphone, as well, and it doesn't seem like it would come apart without an effort. With care, I can see this headset lasting me quite a while. Just don't throw it around or stomp on it.

Overall, you're getting quality that is equal to that of more well-known brands, at a fraction of the price.

I received this headset from my ex-boyfriend last weekend to replace a pair of X11s that he chucked out the window when we broke up. Yeah I'm a girl gamer, what of it? I had never heard of this brand before, and at first I thought that he was being super cheap with me since its only $30. As it turns out, he just gave me the best kept secret in gaming headsets! This thing sounds abso-freaking-lutely incredible!

I can't believe that I went around for years telling people that Turtle Beaches were the bees knees. This thing has plenty of deep and tight bass. Its super clear and crisp. And I can hear everything, every opfor footstep, every opfor reload, EVERYTHING! And even though its only stereo, I swear I can tell almost tell exactly where sniper shots are coming from. Plus, I don't get that annoying usb power buzz that I used to get from my X11s.

And the mic is like super sensitive, maybe too sensitive. I used to have to speak up or say things twice to team members. Now I just have to say it once without yelling and they totally hear me. But when I was watching Netflix with a friend, he kept telling me to stop breathing into the mic. Seriously I DO NOT breath loud but I guess he could hear me breathing!

The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the headset looks a bit on the stoopid side. I prefer all black so I'm not crazy about the silver parts on this headset. But that's a very minor thing I guess. And since no one can see me online, it doesn't matter what I look like when I pwn them.

Overall I say this headset is just SICK! Teknmotion ROCKS!

DOA2:Hardcore is overall a very nicely done game. The PS2 version shines in its background graphics and the beauty of the characters, personally I prefer the lighting of this version over the DC version, but that's a more subjective view. Gameplay is simply just plain fun. The good balance of characters offers the perfect solution to the fighting style of your choice. Multiplayer gaming is great, as tag (2vs2)battle, team (3-5 vs 3-5), and vs. modes should keep at most 4 people occupied for a while.

What this game seems to fail gracefully is its single player story mode. Although we all know that there will never be a good story plot in arcade fighting games, Namco could at least put some more rewards and depth into single player challenges. To me, simply getting cosmetic changes to my characters and etc. just doesn't motivate me that much to spend my time into it. This game in its single player story mode could never be on par with DC's Soul Calibur, which offers a much richer and in depth single player gaming experience. The other single player modes of this game is interesting, but as I mentioned, the depth is just not there (sorry DOA fans).

The control of this game is very good (thanks to the PSX controller), but not great. The full analog support on the Dual Shock 2 has its ups in the ease of use with the joypad section and higher sensitivity in the buttons(which makes making combos A LOT easier), but its downs is evident in the direction pads (u will rarely get a chance to use them, except for jump, crouch, and defend) where the users have to get used to switching back and forth. Learning curve of this game's controls should be around 60~90 minutes for casual gamers and shorter for hardcore experts.

DOA2:Hardcore is a better presented game over its Japanese counterpart, as improvements in gaming is evident. This game is FUN and great to play with friends, but be forewarned, the single player experience MIGHT let you down if u have played DC's Soul Calibur. But, it should be YOU who should decide the fun value of the single player modes. This game is definitely worth your $$, and is definitely the better PS2 launch title on the market.

This game is most definately superior to Tekken Tag. Eever since the first Tekken I have been a faithful consumer. I own every Tekken game out there, but even I must say DOA:2 blows it away. The fighting style is looser and more customizable, the combos are what I'm talking about if you don't know. Graphics are much better, environment are multi-leveled and excellent looking (the electrified walls were an excellent idea, bravo man). I don't know what to say, Tekken Tag was exactly like Tekken 3, the tagging is just in and out no tag combos so it gets boring and you go back to 1 vs. 1 and leave 2 vs. 2 alone. I played Tekken Tag at my friends house and rented it before buying it, both times around i found myself complaining and bored wondering why there werent any improvements over #3 other than the graphics. At one point I even put in Tekken 3 because it plays faster. DOA:2 is amazing, fast paced, loose styles, nice characters, hot women, counters are excellent... the story mode does ... though, it may as well just be practice for 2 player (who plays a fighting game all by themselves?!). Buy it, GREAT GAME! Would have been 5 stars but I have to boo the story mode, i found reading the back of the booklet more in depth and that was a FAQ not even a story.

I have played every fighting game ever made on every system and I am the Hardest of Hardcore and this is the best I have ever played. The graphics and the combat system, which is its heart and is unique from every other fighter in the world, make this game the great one.

If you own a PS2 and don't even like fighting games you should buy this, especially if you are a guy because the women rock!

Honest reviews on Dead Or Alive 2: Hardcore

For the most part, if you look up DOA2 online, you'll see a lot of discussion of the bouncy bouncy babes. And, you know, for what they are, they're really nice. That's not what makes DOA2: Hardcore THE PS2 fighting game.

It's the gameplay. Crazy though, huh? Lush PS2 graphics, crisp sound, and lots of bouncy, bouncy babes and what really seals the deal is that this is a fighting game that's quick to learn, hard to master, has characters that are distinct in their fighting styles, use multi-staged environments that matter to the fight -there's nothing more fun than throwing your opponent into an electrified fence again and again and again -and has a host of bonuses to reward players devoting time and energy to the game.

It's also deeply funny, and not always on purpose. Sure, the third costume you unlock for Dennis Rodman lookalike Zack -a gorgeous fully mirrored Teletubbie outfit, complete with bobbing antenna, that has to be seen to be believed -is probably consciously silly, the nonsense he and everyone else spouts in the game -"I respect myself, for being myself" -evoke peals of laughter from gamers moments before they leap upon each other, flinging their opponents around beautiful rendered environments. Or up against them. Or through them.

Initially easier to learn than, say, Tekken Tag Tournament, with fewer buttons to learn, DOA:2 has a seemingly infinite variety of ways to expand on the formula, with counter moves and additional moves based on positions and the direction a character is moving. Buttonmashers may be able to get into the game, but as in any good fighter, those who learn the moves are able to quickly and easily dissassemble the buttonmashers.

Gorgeous, fun, exciting and funny. If you own a PS2 and love fighting games, you owe it to yourself to pick up DOA2.

The basic feelings with gamers is that the Playstation 2 launch games are under par for what the system can reportedly do. If Tecmo's Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore is "under par" then I hope there are a LOT of "under par" games released on the PS2 because this game is spectacular.

DOA2:H is the best alternative to Tekken Tag Tournament without resorting to buy another system (the Dreamcast) for competitors such as Soul Caliber. DOA2:H is more user friendly for people who don't fit in the religious Tekken fan following. The moves can be executed with relative ease and combos are not "set in stone". For example, most Tekken combos have precise button sequences. DOA2:H's combos can be executed by just linking certain moves from you own imagination and they feel more like your own personal tactics rather than a memorized sequence.

The graphics in the game are great. Everything is clean and well-defined. Player look anatomically correct (more humanlike than Tekken's "blocky" characters and not cartoony like Street Fighter's anime inspired characters.) If anything, I wish there were more fighters. I like the fighting games that have you unable to decide who is your ultimate favorite character, in DOA2:H you will definitely have your favorite within no time. The stages are all unique, although not as equal overall, some levels will blow you away throughout while others have gorgeous main areas and lackluster secondary areas. The Opera House level is a perfect example. The floor in the beginning section is polished and really cool looking while the looping lower area you can throw, or be thrown to, are noticeably bland compared to the starting area. The PS2 version of DOA2:H boasts a few more levels than the Dreamcast version of the game and they are enough to warrant purchasing the slicker PS2 version over the Dreamcast one.

The sound in the game is above average. The music is the same type of techno that inhabits all fighting games but it isn't cheasy or enough to make you turn down the volume in the options menu. The voice acting in the game is as good as could be expected since English actors dubbed over the original Japanese dialogue. The only drawback is the enormously cheasy one-liners that the fighters use as well as just plain wrong word choices, one character actually calls another one a "swindler" in a poorly worded insult. "Jive turkey" would have easily been better than "swindler."

The ammount of customization in DOA2:H is huge. You can set specific settings for not just the whole game, but each type of play mode. For example, you can have the Story Mode enemies to have weak power meters while the Versus Mode can have them with anywhere from weak, to strong, to infinite for endless matches between friends.

One of the nicest things about this game is not even in the game, it's the manual that comes packaged with the disc. The manual has a ENTIRE move list for every character. Not one of those cheap Tekken or Street Fighter manuals that gave you about 25% of every characters' available moves. Tecmo even has the move list section of the game represented on their website if you want to print them out for when friends come over, then you won't have to resort to the awkward "manual sharing" deal, like when the kid who sat next to you in English class forgot his book and had to share yours. And if you and a friend should decide to share the manual while playing Tag Mode in the game, every fighter's primary tag partner is on the facing page (so there won't be any manual hogging, just set it out on the table and you both have your lists right there to look at!).

Overall, this game is a sure purchase for fighter fans, no doubt about it. And anyone who is just a casual gamer should treat themselves to at least a rental. I can honestly say that this game is one of the most enjoyable fighting games to come out since Street Fighter was ported to the Super Nintendo.

Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii Official Rock Band 2 Electro-Harmonix Overdrive Pedal
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Electro-Harmonix Overdrive pedal plugs into a RockBand 2 guitar controller and allows the user to go into overdrive mode by clicking the pedal with his or her while playing, as opposed to lifting the neck of the guitar, which is the usual method of invoking overdrive mode. For those unfamiliar with Rock Band, overdrive mode is a temporary effect where the user earns more than the usual number of points for successful play.

I suppose there are two reasons why one might want to use this functionality. Most importantly, it adds to the fantasy of being a rock star. This pedal looks like a real guitar pedal, and I definitely feel like I'm kicking up the song a notch when I stamp on it. However, it should be noted that while a real guitar pedal would alter the sound of the guitar when activated, this pedal only turns on a point bonus. The only actual change in sound when you turn on overdrive are the cheers that erupt from your virtual crowd.

Using the pedal to trigger overdrive might be easier for some people than the default method of lifting the neck of the guitar. However, while it is true that lifting the guitar can sometimes be difficult while playing, I found using the pedal to be even more distracting. There were times when I needed to look down in order to find the pedal. Furthermore, it was a little bit uncomfortable to click the pedal in bare feet (maybe not such an uncommon state of dress for your average RockBand champion), and that took my attention off the game screen.

To sum up, this is by no means a necessary addition to your Rock Band setup, and it won't make going into overdrive mode any easier, but this could be some nice icing on the cake of your rock star fantasy.

Hi everyone, here's just a thought for you all and it works too. Why go out and buy this Harmonix Overdrive Pedal from Mad Catz (or any other supplier) when your foot pedal for your drums DOES THE SAME THING and guess what, if you already bought the "whole" band kit... then that means you already have the foot pedal. It also works with the new keyboard (piano) too. I know I have tried this out. If you don't have the "whole" band kit then it's cheap to buy a foot pedal like that from ANY GAMING STORE then too.

So save your money and use your drum foot pedal. Also like one comment that was made about how sometimes you have to look down to see where it is to step on it, well for us that have the drum pedal... YOU can't miss it!!! :)

You could also do what I did and go out and buy a cord that attaches to one end of the plug on the pedal and then the other goes to the guitar (or keyboard) to EXTEND the length of the cord to give you more playing area and that only cost a few dollars also from your nearest Wal-mart or Radioshack!

Hope this helps all you band members, because for me here in CANADA we can't order it or buy it unless we live in a major city and then the cost of our money to the states exchange rate and also now they could withhold our package... So save yourselves the trouble and buy or use the DRUM FOOT PEDAL... THANKS

Can't complain about this. It's good to go out of the box and works great. Mini-delay to activate overdrive but it is barely noticeable. If you want to shred and not mess up your rhythm when u activate overdrive, buy this. It limits your free space but that shouldn't be an issue if this is something you're looking to buy.

A simple device to assist in Playing Rock Band, It does what it says, lets you use your foot to trigger Overdrive instead of tilting the guitar or hitting Select. Good when you have trouble with dropping notes while swinging the guitar.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was actually pretty surprised at how something this simple could improve game play. The accelerometers in the guitars are just not very reliable and so when you get past a certain basic skill level, it's much more fun to pretend like you are stomping on a stomp box where you don't have to worry about your hands when you want to deploy. My only request is that going forward it would be better to turn off the accelerometer based star power when this bad boy is plugged in.
