Couple of key points about the game.
1. Yes, lighting makes all the difference in the world. This is also printed right on the cover of the instruction manual. In a room of full natural daylight the images looked nearly as good as in the previews. The only problem the game had was with my son's curly hair. At night, with regular room lighting, the picture was pretty rough.
2. The movie selection is very limited. Sure, 80 scenes but not a whole lot there I was interested in doing. Now that is personal preference so I'm not docking the score because of it, but the selection seems pretty weak. I get that the 360 is not on blu ray and there are space issues, blah blah blah.
3. You can download extra scenes but they are pretty expensive. I think the latest "pack" on Live right now is 5 scenes for $7.
4. A little bit of bait and switch in the movies. Two scenes I can think of for example. The preview for the "This is Sparta" scene ends with you kicking the guy into the pit. This is not in the quick play version of the game (I don't know if it's in challenge, I would assume not). The scene ends with you screaming .... no cut away to him falling. In Kick ass, the mirror scene. It's just you standing in a room and saying the dialogue. There is no cut away to the mirror. Yes, I realize that your back in the mirror would not match the reflection but the preview shows you in the mirror, and there is no mirror in the scene.
5. None of the movies are full screen. They are all in a youtube-like box in the middle of your screen, which is ok. However, when you save your performance and play it back, it's in an even smaller screen. In that instance, it's actually too small.
6. The camera does not adjust for height. My kids wanted to try out a few scenes and at no point does the Kinect sensor adjust to the player aside from the initial start up. Therefore when you have a big height difference between players (6 feet vs 4 feet), you need the smaller person to stand on something. The game does say "line up your body with the image on the screen" before you do a scene but in some cases, a smaller player just can't because the sensor won't adjust and won't see you if you are too close.
7. The game froze 3 times in about 25 minutes on me. Never actually had a game freeze on me before on the Xbox.
8. Saving takes a long time. Usually about 60 seconds to save your file to your xbox hard drive. Not sure why.
I think this game is a SOLID rental especially if you are having people over for some drinks. I can't see this being very fun for a solo player but that's not the point of the game. The bottom line is that the product works as advertised (you can put yourself in the movies and it looks pretty good) but there are a lot of minor annoyances that bog down the gameplay.

First let em start off, by saying I had been waiting for this to be released from the day I heard about, as my family and I enjoy these type of family oriented games (ie: Singstar, Lips, Scene It).Overall the game isn't all that bad, it just is a slight disappointment, when you sit down and compare it to the pre-release videos that have been shown, the clarity doesn't match up to video previews, I had seen, there not horrible, but like another review stated, choppy, with a glow around your character... Another feature I am not happy with is the fact that you must have your kinect set to Chat On.. Well, I am online nightly playing MW2, and know have to remember to shut down the chat option before going online, so the whole world doesn't hear my entires house drama... The third, would be the outline of your character alot of time has you facing away from the tv, during the scene, making it impossible to read the lines, so you better have a good memory...
The Good points are: definately a great party game, with a bunch of people around, would be great to listen how people can improvise a scene to their own. Also another feature which seems to be the biggest hit at my house so far, would be the scenes that have no dialogue, you simply adlib the scene yourself, such as the King Kong & I am Legend scene, those seem to be the most enjoyable.
Overall, the game is probably not worth the $50 it currently was released at, but @ say $30, would be a decent investment...
Best Deals for Yoostar 2: In The Movies - Xbox 360
When I first heard about Yoostar2, I was really excited. After viewing the promotional video clips, I was even more excited. When you watch the promo clips you are given the impression that when you buy and play the game that the video clips you produce are going to look like the promo clips. WRONG. Your videos are not even close to the promo clips. The video images are pixelated and poor quality and the audio is not that great. In my opinion, the makers of the game recorded the promo clips in a studio with a hi def camera and studio quality lighting. They definitely did not use an xbox/kinect to make the promo clips. The manufacturer of the game should have put a disclaimer on the promo clips telling prospective purchasers that a xbox/kinect was not used to make the scenes. Some people have indicated that there is something in the game manual about lighting. The problem is that you need to buy the game and open it to see the manual and then it is too late to return the game for a credit or refund. The game is a fun game to play if you don't care about the quality of the clips that you produce. However, I would not want to share poor quality clips on Facebook or Twitter for my friends to see. If you want to verify what I am telling you, go to youtube and view the promo clips and then watch the clips made by people using an xbox/kinect and you will have to agree with me.
Yoostar, you guys should really be ashamed at misleading the public.
