My Microsoft headset microphone stopped working after 7 months and my identical spare did not work out of the box (Microsoft did replace one with one that did work), so I swore off all Microsoft 360 headsets and went with the Plantronics X10 for Xbox 360. At first, it was a little snug but soon I got used to it. Works like a charm and all of my friends can now hear me loud and clear. I really like the volume/mute switch being inline because I can clip it to where I need it. At $14.99, this head set was cheaper than the Microsoft version. Hopefully, the Plantronics headset will last longer than the Microsoft set. I gave this headset 4 stars due to it's tighter than expected fit. All in all a better choice....so far.

I ordered this headset cause of two reasons. I wanted my own (cause I only had one and I was sharing it my sister) and for best performance under a reasonable price. So I found this headset here on Amazon. It had good reviews so that was easy enough to convince me. Now let me go into detail about this headset. First of all the most notable thing about the Plantronics Xbox 360 (Xbox compatible too) headset is it's durability. The regular Microsoft headset is kinda ok but it looks like it could break easily as most people have reported this. It's design is very great. The head band is a little bit off curved but that's still ok. The microphone is flexible that way you can have it face to your mouth. It is also switchable in sides so that you can have it either on your left or right side of your face. The output sound on the speaker is like 2x better than the regular Microsoft headset. The shape of the speaker is comfortable than the circle shape. I have been told by my Xbox Live friends that they can hear me very well. Lastly is the headset's color. It's very xbox traditional color Black and Green. Anyways, I love my headset. If you're looking for something cheap yet very good at performance then this headset is the way to go. Hands down. Of course I wouldn't say it's the very best other than those hundred dollar headsets, but it's still good. So yeah that's it. I will try to put a video review soon. So look out for that.

*******UPDATE*******

Sept 23, 2011

My headset continues to work great after so much use. There are minor things that have happen but keep in mind when I say "MINOR". The little icons on the controller of the headset which indicates the mic being off or on have faded completely. That's normal because of switching it and how fingers have oil and what not, you get the idea. The pad opposite to the speaker came off but I have replaced it using super glue. I have noticed that some people say that they sound quiet to their friends with the headset. It's not the headset's fault. It's your internet connection. My friends can clearly hear me on this headset.

So anyways just wanted to give this brief update on this great product. Keep on gaming!

*******UPDATE*******

July 27, 2012

Over time my headset started to get tears and openings along the wire coat. I've patched them up with electrical tape. That held it together for a good amount of time. These started to happen around late May of this year. Now jumping to this late into the month my headset has been cutting out on me a lot. My friends would even noticed this. So I knew it would be only soon that my headset would officially die on me. Just yesterday it did. For two years and a half I have had this headset. I have taken care of it the best I can and it lasted this long. Well it was worth my money. I do say it's the quality of the wire's coat that made it die. Oh well. Oh! Also to note that the soft covering over the earpiece will indeed tear off.

I have found a new replacement. I have my eyes set on the Plantronics M214C headset. I hope to buy it. Soon.

After the "official" microsoft headset broke, I looked at lots of different headsets to replace it. This is a great alternative to the other one, and it's the same price! Though it has a similar design style at first glance, this headset is larger and wider than the Microsoft one, and doesn't dig into your head. It fits comfortably, and sometimes I don't even know it's there. Plus, I have not heard any complaints online about the microphone, so I assume it is adequate. Overall, a great product at a great price.

Honest reviews on Plantronics Gamecom X10 - Xbox 360

The XBOX 360 headset was purchased after the Microsoft headset that arrived with the XBOX 360 console suddenly stopped working. The new headset is much sturdier and clearer. My grandson uses it for XBOX live and can communicate with the other gamers without any problems. I would recommend this headset as a replacement for the Microsoft headset.

This works great! Don't be afraid of 3rd party products, this works quite well. The inline volume control is nice, and the unit looks fine. It's a little cheaper than the standard headset, and much cheaper than Microsoft's wireless one. Get this if you got the core console and want Xbox Live, or if you need a replacement.

This bundle is excellent. Got it at a great price here through amazon. Microsoft should not call this a special edition though, because it is of no such. So the bundle is a great buy for anyone, whether you are a loyal xbox owner or a new owner this is the one to go with. Microsoft's new JASPER models are freakin amazing! Smaller power brick, quieter/cooler, much cooler, system. Played for five hours the other day and the xbox was just warm not on fire. Overall I love this bundle. Great buy, recommended for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, PS3 has nice exclusives, but I was very tempted to get a XBOX 360, and I finally did. I was trying to decide between this and the XBOX FFXIII bundle, but I already had the FFXIII game for PS3 so I went with this one.

Well, definitely the XBOX has some nice features and exclusives that I couldn't get with the PS3. I ordered a bunch of XBOX 360 exclusives with this bundle and I am glad I did. I am starting Forza 2 and Fable II right now and I realize how much fun I was missing. The feel of the XBOX controls is also much better than the PS3 controls.

Wouldn't say that one console is better than the other. Both of them have cool features. Now that I own both, I have the best of two worlds.

Shipping was free and fast through Amazon. It arrived on the estimated delivery date. Very pleased so far. Got the TS intercooler and it works like a charm!

I was a little hesitant on purchasing this, but I'm really glad I did. It works perfectly and I've not had one issue using it while playing a ton of COD: Ghosts. The only thing that I'll mention is that this unit like the older models doesn't have WiFi built in. You'll need to buy an adapter. I'm happy with it though and can't complain.

I purchased this console with the intent to start a xbox360 relationship. It work for awhile at the expense of scratching up game disc, sounding like it could come apart at any moment with all the noise coming from the tray.Well eventually it died so that was the end of that relationship.

Madden NFL 2003
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Madden 2003 is the best football game out there in every aspect except possibly one; Graphics. Sega's NFL 2K3 takes that category, but not bu much. However, Madden takes everything else. Gameplay is tight, so when you press a button, it corresponds instantly. Realism is amazing. Players act and move like actual NFL players. The 'Ask Madden' feature is great, and it actually relates to the game. So if it's 3rd and 18, Madden will tell you to pass.

No one comes close to touching Madden in Game Modes. Mini-camp mode is very fun and addictive. Football 101 explains how to play the game, Create-a-Playbook is a great way to learn how to set up plays, and various other modes will keep you playing for hours on end.

Game sounds are realistic, and really help the game. The music is awesome. There are 11 songs, not just one, so you don't get one annoying song stuck in your head.

Overall, Madden is the best football game for any system right now in existence. There are so many ways to enjoy this game, so go buy it and try to find them all.

Madden NFL 2003 is a definite improvement over last year's offering but a few minor flaws will keep the game from earning five stars.

I'll discuss what I don't like about the game first. There are three main problems: the music, the graphics, and your profile manager. For some reason EA has decided to drop standard menu music and use a host of tracks all straight from the latest beer comercials. Non-standard menu music is potentially a good thing, but a poor selection of songs is not. Don't get me wrong, not all of the music is terrible and you can skip over songs you don't like, but the feature is screaming out for the ability to play songs from the hard drive.

Graphically speaking, 2003 is sharper and clearer than 2002 with much better and more varied player animations. The crowd looks much better as well (before it was so bad it was distracting). Unfortunately though, the graphics engine is optimized to the lowest common denominator of the multiplatform world and doesn't take advantage of the immense power of the Xbox.

A final complaint is that in last year's edition of the game you could save your playbook choice to your profile. Now you can't and have to choose your playbooks before every game.

Of course, what makes that such a problem is the absolutely fantastic new playbook editing features. You can completely customize your playbooks for offense and defense, drawing from any of the playbooks in the game and you can create your own plays and even entirely new formations. Of course you can also edit any existing play or formation. I believe it is this feature and its astounding depth that will keep fans of franchise style simulation football playing this game until the 2004 edition is released. There is so much room for creativity on the offensive side of the ball that is just unbelievable. It is much harder to design a new defensive formation that really works well against the computer beyond the standard 4-3, 3-4, 46, Nickel, Dime, and Quarter formations, but trying to do so will teach you why those formations work and help you to design new plays for them. Overall, the editable playbooks will really reward you for understanding your team on its deepest levels. You will need to change it constantly as your team changes and you face different opponents with different styles. On offense, if you have a multi-dimensional talent like Marshall Faulk, you can design formations that exploit the mismatches he creates. On defense you can design plays that optimize the talents of your different players. So, for example, if you have a great coverage linebacker who tackles poorly and a fast, hard-hitting safety who covers poorly, you can design a few plays that allow them to switch responsibilites and catch an unwary offense off guard. Of course, where the editable playbooks will really shine is in head to head confrontation with a friend as the better prepared will have a huge advantage. I really can't say enough about how cool this feature is and how much it adds to the simulator experience.

Another new feature to the game is the Minicamp. There are 30 camps (although only about ten or so totally different drills) that try and teach basic football skills through drills and applied game situations. The feature is nice and finally provides a good way to learn how to play defense effectively.

The franchise mode is where a Madden fan will likely spend most of his or her time and it has been improved as well. You now get four preseason games that you can use to evaluate and even improve your players. So if you've got a hot new rookie you can actually make him a lot better if you're willing to risk injury by exposing him in all the games. The only annoying part of the preseason is that the computer will keep starters in for unrealistically long periods early in the preseason. Another new feature to the franchise mode is the Scouting Combine which goes a long way towards making the draft more of a game within the game. However, they still haven't quite gotten the true feel of a draft...you will basically never find sixth or seventh round gems. The talent is mostly gone by the end of the third round.

Finally, the gameplay in 2003 is much improved. It is fairly obvious the folks at EA listened to our complaints because the defenses are, overall, much tougher and smarter. You can no longer rush for 200 yards and throw for 400 yards on any difficulty in every game at will anymore. You have to work for your yards. Fifty yard field goals are not automatic. The end result of this is a much more realistic game of football, with more realistic scores, stats, 3rd down percentages, and so on. The audio commentary is definitely improved even though they recycled way to many lines from last year. Al Michaels is a nice change of pace and does a fine job in his debut here.

So, in the final analysis, if you liked last year's Madden, you're going to love this one.

Another year, another Madden. One really can't go wrong this year, as both Sega and EA sports have put out 2 great games. Here is my take on Madden:

PROS: Very deep gameplay, multiple modes (great new Mini-camp option lets you work on specific aspects of football), realistic football simulation. Graphics are quite good, although a good bit of clipping happens, especially during replays. Game sounds are pretty good, too. Overall, a lot of fun.

CONS: Computer can still pick you apart with the passing game. QB's are hard to sack, even with the best D-line you can have, and average receivers will routinely make spectacular grabs while triple covered by pro bowl defensive backs. CPU clock management is better, but the computer will still call a play and line up with only 2 seconds to go before the 2 mnts warning. The control is good, but a bit jerky and unrealistic when tackling. The voice commentary gets old FAST. The good folks at EASports recycled at least half of Madden's "unique" sayings from last year's game, which is ... cheesy.

Overall the positives outweigh the negatives, but I just wish someone could get pass coverage right for a change...

Honest reviews on Madden NFL 2003

NFL Fever has prettier graphics, but neither Fever nor Sega NFL 2k3 can beat Madden 2003 for its gameplay, options, and ability to control the abilities of both individual players and entire groups of players.

Graphics: The quarterbacks look a little malnourished compared to Fever and NFL 2k3; otherwise the graphics are excellent. In contrast, I was not as impressed with Sega's version of the game. In Madden, the crowds and the stadiums were drawn with more detail than Sega's game. The crowd really gets into the game and is very vocal.

Gameplay: The AI is superb. It adapts to your style of play including your tendency to throw to a particular receiver or use a certain play. In addition, the officials on the field actually spot the ball after each play. This makes the two minute drill much more fun and realistic. The guys holding the yard markers are an outstanding touch. They actually run out of the way or get knocked down when a ball carrier runs at or into them. In pass coverage, the secondary is very good at keeping receivers in front of them.

A huge plus is the ability to downgrade or upgrade a particular skill of the players such as passing accuracy, tackling, blocking, or running the ball. You use sliders on one of the menu screens without having to go through EVERY running back, quarterback, or receiver and change each player's attributes. By the way, you can do that too if you choose.

Playbook: The playbook is excellent and is tailored for each team. Customer playbooks and plays can also be made. Plays can be set in a predefined formation. Custom formations can also be made. Player routes can be precisely drawn on a gridsquare, and a variety of moves such as breaking in and out of a turn at a certain angle can be added.

Computer simulation of league games: The computer also accurately simulates all games that you choose not to play based on the player attributes that you assign each team. I don't see quarterbacks throwing 55 TD's in a season with only 4 int's or running backs averaging 8 yards a carry and over 2500 yards a season like I used to on Sega's game. By the way, in Sega's game, you can't alter all of the players' attributes. It also doesn't have as many choices for changing different skill sets as Madden does. If you can only buy one game or have time to play one, Madden is the one to get.

PROS:

The mini-camp games are fun and addictive. They basically consist of passing, running, tackling and kicking skills. Depending on your performance during these drills, you will either earn a bronze, silver, or gold trophy. Earning a gold trophy will unlock certain cheats which makes the replay value of these games very high.

Better tackling animations including gang tackles.

Running plays are more challenging. On Madden 2002, I would always gain huge chunks of yards by running around my tackles and guards rather than going through the holes that are created at the line of scrimmage. Now, the linebackers are more smarter and intuitive and will more than likely stuff me for a no gain or loss unless I mix up the type of running plays.

Passing remains just as callenging as ever. Corner backs will stick to recievers like glue. I've also noticed that when controlling the defense, my defensive backs are more likely to snag an interception when the ball is thrown right to them. Gone are the days that a ball would bounce off my defender's helmet.

I liked the game presentations included at the beginning of a contest. Al Michaels and John Madden now give their thoughts as to key matchups and what both teams should be looking for to win.

CONS:

The player models are very cartoonish. Heads and hands are bigger in proportion the the body and the uniforms give the appearance that they are made of plastic due to the shiny reflections that are given off. I get the impression that the Xbox version is a direct port from the PS2 version. Players lack much detail and seem a little jagged and blurry.

The franchise mode is basically the same, with the exception of a combine mode that allows a gamer to assign 15 players he or she wants to scout. Once you have chosen these 15 players, more detailed information will be provided such as individual ratings and potential. Given NFL 2k3's total and awesome makeover of their "franchise" mode, Madden 2003 seemed a little underwhelming.

The real question to football fanatics that own an Xbox is which game to buy? Personally, I would have to go with Madden since they cater to the true football connosieur. The gameplay is tight and smooth. The presentation is exciting and awesome. Additions such as the mini-camp games make the game more addicting as it is. I didn't even mention the further addition of a playbook creator since I have yet to try it out. But the idea of having six recievers going downfield seems pretty inviting. NFL 2k3 is amost there. In my opinion, another year of seasoning for that franchise might just completely snatch the crown away from EA Sports.

Best Deals for Star Wars Darth Vader Empire Vinyl Decal Skin Protector Cover #11

There aren't a lot of books depicting Vader in his put down the rebellion stage as the dark lord being first on the field to lead the storm troopers into battle. The ominous figure is cast as either a liberator or destroyer, dependent on how you view the political regime of the empire. This decal can be placed on very easily, what I did differently than how the instructions described was a sponge with soap water squezzed almost dry and lightly slid across the sticky side of the decal to make it less sticky before applying to my PS3. Very easy and it looked great. Highly recommend to purchase, if you like cool Star Wars drawings or just like an epic battle scene which can let your imagination run wild. Like buying a mega lottery ticket, only it serves a practical purpose of protecting your expensive PS3 that kids touch when they come by.

Xbox 360 Multi Function Carry Case
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I travel a lot for my job (over 100 round trip flights a year) and wanted a good bag to take my 360 with me for long trips.

After about 10 such trips with this bag now I can say that it works great and does its job very well! The case zips open to lay flat and has a velcro strap that holds the 360 in very tight. This means that you don't have to take your 360 out to pass it through the x-ray machine. Just lay the case on the conveyor belt and open the top flap so it lays flat. Takes all of 5 seconds to get it ready for x-ray and 5 seconds to close it back up and be on your way.

My one wish is that the front pocket was a little bit bigger. The power brick is a rather tight fit and doesn't leave much room if you put it in there. If you put your power brick in your normal carry on bag though then the front pocket fits a game guide and 2-3 game cases pretty well.

The bag is pretty decently padded, not enough to let you throw it around but enough to save your 360 from the normal bumps of carrying the case through an airport on your shoulder.

Bottom line: Its a great bag for airport travel and people on the go who don't need to take a million games and peripherals with them.

Xbox Multifunction Carry Case.

Good design.

Good compromise between carrying capacity & size/volume.

Good feature that allows the Xbox to be hooked up & function w/o removal from the Carry Case.

Shoddy execution.

Shoulder strap & carry handle are flimsy.

Zippers were sticky -needed to be lubed w/ silicon spray before they were functional.

Zipper pulls broke within minutes of opening packaging. Had to use tie wraps to jury rig.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Multi Function Carry Case

This bag is fantastic. I am more than happy with my purchase. It does everything that it should do, unfortunately, it does not have enough room for the power cable.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Multi Function Carry Case

I live in hotels 24 nights a month for work, so I travel quite a bit. This bag holds the xbox console nicely, however that is about all the space it has. I really have to jam the power brick, cord, controller, headset and crossover cable in the case. Overall its a great idea and the structure is sound, but it just doesn't hold enough. I'm going to purchase another option.

Edit: I purchased a backpack on Amazon for the same price as this. The backpack has a seperate additional section just for the power supply. It is a much better fit. The shoulder bag that I originally used, although more professional looking, just does not fit everything properly and should not be sold until the designer re-engineers them to fit the power supply.

The side walls of this case are week so it will collapse on you if you are not careful. Not enough room in the front pocket and you can't carry everything you will need in this bag you will only get the machine, powercord and maybe hdmi cable to fit. Nice idea but disapointing.

Madden NFL 25 is one of the most difficult to evaluate sports games in recent memory. It carries with it considerable value thanks to a deep feature set, distinct improvements to gameplay, and appreciable fun factor. For every positive though there seems to be something dragging it down from potential excellence. Features aren't completely fleshed out, gameplay looks and feels chaotic, and legacy issues remain unaddressed.

*The Anniversary Edition packs in NFL Sunday Ticket access for PC/tablet/phones. At $40 over the game's cost that is undeniable value to consider in making the purchase*

MODES

-Connected Franchise: This is obviously the big one especially with the return of Owner mode and I wrote over 3000 words and posted nearly 100 screenshots regarding it on my site detailing everything from the executive duties of an Owner and how things progressed within the entire Connected Franchise universe having played every game in a season and extended into year two.

Owner mode provides some compelling elements which will be especially fun when joined by friends but Connected Franchise as a whole fails again in tying events from the league into the actual games. That could severely dampen long-term enthusiasm towards the mode.

-Skills Trainer: Similar to NCAA Football 14 the Skills Trainer provides an opportunity to learn, improve, and refine play in very specific areas. It does a good job of teaching things like the option as well as aspects like hot routes and audibles which novices may need explanations on. There are also Ultimate Team bonuses given for getting "Gold" in each of the individual drills.

On the flip side it has the same faults as NCAA. Things that are out of the control of the user can screw up success. It gets frustrating going for the "Gold" and missing out because a receiver drops a pass or a defender sacks a QB when you needed to get an interception.

The Skills Trainer was personally approached with the hope of learning the new "Precision Modifier". Getting to test out the timing and various functions is the valuable thing here. What the Trainer didn't do was explain what "in range" actually means or go beyond just a handful of moves when there are 30 something combos possible.

-Madden Share: This is something that will become valuable as users get the game and start uploading their own personal content. During the evaluation period there were some files there to download but they may have just been tests from other users so it didn't make sense to spend time pulling any down not knowing whether they would make for quality useful content.

Files that can be uploaded/downloaded through Madden Share are rosters, playbooks, and slider sets. Video highlights can also be uploaded to the EA website.

Any roster set can be used to start a Connected Franchise including the user-edited ones obtained through Madden Share. Custom Playbooks can also be taken into CF.

-Ultimate Team and Online Play: Without many users to face online it would be inappropriate to judge Ultimate Team (which brings in the fun Seasons concept) or online play performance in general. Will update this section at a later date.

GAMEPLAY

Many of the enhancements apparent in Madden NFL 25 were first introduced in NCAA Football 14. The two series share a gameplay development team which means Infinity Engine 2.0, work done to the offensive line, enhanced player control, and much more are found in both. It might be the more wide-open gameplay or the lesser talent on the field but NCAA 14 plays a much cleaner game than Madden 25.

Sloppy is the best way to describe Madden's gameplay this year. It feels that way when playing it and it looks that way when watching it. There are glimpses of good things there's no doubt about that and it can still be fun to play but overall it's hard not to walk away and say it's a mess despite that.

The Infinity Engine seems to have been downgraded not enhanced. There is a distinct lack of tackles appearing organic (or any impact between players or gang tackles) and instead you get an overload of frantic collisions and guys knocking into and off one another plus bizarre looking pileups. Everything is much stiffer than last year and even what was played back at E3.

CPU QB's are competent if not unrealistically so. Other than one or two boneheaded throws each game even the highest rated QBs will do that they march their teams up and down the field fairly consistently. Completion percentages in the demo were ridiculously high. They haven't been as bad in the final version of the game. Lower rated QBs might even struggle at times though that usually isn't for the entire game. The one time that happened was holding Brandon Weeden to under 50%. Most other games are around 70% or higher even from guys like Mark Sanchez.

There are a few reasons this seems to be the case. Few throws will hit the ground. They'll more likely be jarred loose in a hit or intercepted. QBs are generally accurate and they find receivers in big space pretty often. Whether poor zone or man coverage is to blame is difficult to determine.

The pass rush is also inconsistent. Most sacks aren't due to immediate pressure but end up as coverage sacks. In my franchise I had some success controlling Cameron Wake and forcing off-target throws. The user shouldn't be forced to play the D-line (and not everyone has a Wake) in order to get pressure on the QB.

CPU running backs can threaten and they tore me up a few times in my franchise season, but that becomes an afterthought to trying to find a way to stop the QB. Heavy blitzing may be needed to push the CPU into third and long situations where their success level dramatically drops. Third and short or mid they probably convert over 75% of the time when the actual NFL average on third downs is around 39%. CPU punters are still idiots and kick it into the end zone at every opportunity. The CPU kickers only missed one field goal against me the entire season (short and off the bar rather than wide).

The "Precision Modifier" is going to have its share of supporters and detractors. On one side it adds more dynamic and exciting events. On the other it doesn't balance out well in terms of risk and in some cases, with the right players and the right timing, can almost be unstoppable. I'm personally not a fan of it in concept or execution.

It's interesting EA made this an option because there is very little reason not to just hold down the left trigger at all times when running forward. In my franchise season there were two fumbles noted while using the modifier with a back or receiver out of 14 total on the season. Of course there were more instances where contact took place without the modifier activated than with it, but that still goes to show there is very little or no correlation to turnovers and using the modifier.

Going up against a shifty player in open space controlled by someone who has the modifier down will undoubtedly be frustrating. Even power guys, when they stiff arm, end up dragging the defender sometimes 10 yards down the field in that animation. There was also an instance where Darren Sproles stiff-armed a linebacker to the ground.

The CPU will use some modifier moves though somewhat infrequently. The over and over spinning seen in the demo definitely wasn't present in any of the games played with the final version. What they will do is awkwardly throw out stiff-arms when no one is even in range.

The read-option is a lot of fun to utilize and is represented well in Madden. While some thought it was too easy in NCAA Football this year there is more balance found in Madden considering the talent of the defenders, the rate of fumbles being higher, and the always looming risk of injury. A fragile quarterback is not going to be able to take hits during a game and survive it. There were also instances where the QB would make the right read and still get crushed by a defender who identified it. The CPU only used it a few times with Cam Newton and Geno Smith running it sparsely in my franchise season.

The one play I may start removing from my playbook: HB Draws. It seems as though the offensive line frequently gets pushed so far back that the runner has no where to go once the ball is handed off. The one I'll be using more frequently: WR Screens. Against a soft defense getting the ball in open space to a quick and agile target can result in big plays.

As was the case with the demo there are issues with catch attempts at the sidelines. Quite often a receiver won't make a concerted effort to get their feet down when they seemingly have plenty of space to do so. Even top rated receivers don't always complete the catch in bounds.

Deep shots downfield can also be troublesome. This is where most of the INTs came off the CPU and in pass breakups by the CPU. In one-on-one coverage on a leading-lob pass the ball rarely gets over the top. User picks are easy to make on those attempts. Even with a step on the defender the ball usually ends up short and incomplete or picked off.

Those looking for more penalties will still not be satisfied. My team committed 12 over the 17 games played in the season. A few of them were self-inflicted (defensive offsides, false starts, late hits on QB) and the others were some for clipping, a few personal fouls for late hits on the sideline, one facemask, and one offensive pass interference that was called on my left guard.

The Hit Stick finally has some use again as big hits do force some fumbles. Holding the stick down also activates "Heat Seeker Tackling" which acts somewhat as a magnet when in range but if out of range results in a big whiff.

I went into injuries at length in the franchise write-up. There are lots of them, which doesn't make it unrealistic, but the same players seem to get hit with them over and over and its usually key contributors.

In fourth and short situations coming out in goal line the CPU does not match unless near the goal line. That makes sneaks essentially automatic. The only thing to worry about would be the QB getting injured.

The booth will automatically review a close touchdown as they should, but never review close turnovers and the user isn't even given the option of manually challenging them. This was something mentioned last year as an issue that apparently didn't make it onto the radar to get fixed. This omission upsets me.

There are five camera angles including "Legacy" which is the standard one from recent years. Considering how many expressed hatred towards the new standard camera angle that was locked in for the demo it's important to note that.

PRESENTATION

Like everything else in Madden NFL 25 presentation has its ups and downs. There are only a few different game openings, personalized celebrations look alright but they're done within awkward cut scenes, the halftime show isn't a halftime show, the lack of ties during games to league events dampen interest in

Franchise mode, and commentary hasn't taken a big jump. The intro videos for primetime or playoff games in Franchise mode though are pretty cool.

Commentary is steady but it's surprising how little has been added or old lines thinned out. If I have to hear Phil Simms criticize a QB for checking down again, the one where he says it's just the QB worried about stats, my head might explode. In general for year two in the booth there is still too much left unspecified in their calls. "What a win for that one team" is literally something that was said after a game.

Danielle Bellini is the new sideline reporter and fits in well but most of what she has to report is very generic and often leaves out identifying the team or player names. Where she's most valuable is reporting on injuries at different points in the game. Unfortunately even with those she's stuck saying something about how the team wouldn't tell her what was wrong with the player. "The team wouldn't say." So then what's the point?

The touchdown and sack celebrations look good upon first viewing. The more they're seen though the more looks wrong with them. Players will show up out of no where to celebrate, it'll happen in spots where the play hadn't ended, the camera view may be blocked by other players, or it's noticed that there are no other people actually on the field. What's worse though is how players just stop and stand there after crossing the goal line or catching a pass for a score before a celebration or replay kicks in.

Auto-replays also have issues with individuals being lingered on from a single camera for too long. In some cases players run towards the camera and end up out of frame as they approach it. The graphics, while still largely excellent, seem far more muddied and flat (the lighting in particular) than recent years.

Rain and snow thin the crowd out to about 60% of capacity. Even in franchise for the Super Bowl fans apparently won't show up due to bad weather. Outside of a few team specific crowd chants or PA sounds the atmosphere in games is uniform from stadium to stadium. Hopefully with the "Living Worlds" part of the next-gen Ignite Engine they'll get some definition to the unique experiences that each fan base and stadium delivers. It should also be noted that the crowd still reacts improperly to the results of challenges. They'll boo a favorable result.

The post-game "Never Say Never Moment of the Game" is almost always a let down. Generally the play of the game is identified as a field goal that didn't actually determine the outcome. Or even worse an extra point.

MISCELLANEOUS

-The wind indicator is reversed. How this seems to happen year after year is beyond me. It can even be seen in how the rain or snow is being pushed one direction and the indicator pointing the opposite way. Keep that in mind with any kicks and adjust accordingly.

-Another release that doesn't include surprise onside kicks.

-Game results can be shared on Facebook but the share to Twitter functionality is gone.

-There is still no screenshot feature included. The next-gen systems will have that built in.

-If a team is running out the clock when kneeling and the opponent has no timeouts can we get a chew clock option for that in the future please?

OVERALL OUTLOOK

Madden NFL 25 feels like a 10 week bridge to next-gen rather than hitting a pinnacle in the way the series did late in the PS2/Xbox generation. It may satisfy many there certainly are improvements over last year both on the field and off despite the gripes that will be had but there will sadly be no Madden reaching "classic" status during the 360 and PS3 generation.

Best Deals for Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition with NFL Sunday Ticket -Xbox 360

Initially, I was going to purchase the standard Madden 25. But then when I learned that Amazon is promoting a 17 week trial of NFL Sunday Ticket for an additional $40, it was hard to pass up such a great deal!

My overall impressions of the game are similar to last year's version. Graphics, presentation, gameplay, etc. are all very familiar and unchanged. I just like the updated rosters and additional tweaks to franchise mode.

I was a little concerned about whether the Sunday ticket code was going to work for me because I am able to receive DirectTv service in my area. However, when you enter the code into the website, you are not required to enter any credentials or location whatsoever. So, pretty much anyone can use the code and get the Sunday Ticket! The great thing is that the trial version is for Sunday Ticket Max (includes the Redzone Channel). I am excited to watch every football game on my laptop (hook it up to my TV via HDMI cable) and iPhone.

I wouldn't be surprised if this deal is endorsed next year also. If it wasn't for the Sunday Ticket deal, then I wouldn't have purchased the $100 version of Madden. But, I did, so I'm happy, and you should too! Enjoy!

Honest reviews on Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition with NFL Sunday Ticket -Xbox 360

First it tricks you to believe you get the full nfl Sunday ticket not true only mobile devices. Secondly, it only works on some mobile devices. The copy, user and password I received will not work on an iPad. Impossible to get support, directv send you to ea sports who give you the run around and will to allow you to talk with a person in support. Would never ever ever trust ea sports and directv with this promotion. Absolute waste of money and time, verging on illegal hw they packaged this piece of crap product, offer.

I paid the extra $50 for the Sunday Ticket pre-order. The directv website has been down the first two weeks of the season at kickoff.

I call support and they tell me to call EA Sports for support of my account. EA Sports website tells me to call Directv. Sat on hold for 30 minutes to be cutoff.

Not happy with Directv. Less likely to ever subscribe thanks to this experience. Will not waste my money next year if they have the combined promotion.

Qubed includes the following three games, Lumines: Live, RezHD, and Every Extend Extra Extreme. These 3 games are absolutely brilliant, and this package is ABSOLUTELY worth 20 bucks. If you were to buy all of them separately you would be paying at least 30 to 40 bucks. So this is a no brainer. If you have an Xbox 360, you need to have this to complete your game collection.

There is a brief interview with the designer of the games, Tetsuya Mizuguchi. It's very interesting, really shows how he strives to set his games apart as experiences that use not just your reflexes, but that stimulate both the eyes and ears. Gives you a better appreciation for the games in Qubed.

So do yourself a favor, and get this for your Xbox, you won't regret it.

It's such a good thing some publishers get downloadable games out on disc too. This collection is not the best out there: E4 is kinda boring and Lumines Live is a battlant rip-off made to take your cash. But it's all worth it just to have REZ HD on disc. Such an amazing game! Wait for it to be less thatn $30 if you want but $30 is too little money for a masterpiece such as REZ.

Best Deals for Qubed - Xbox 360

RezHD steals the show. I'm serious. If you play this in the right setting (proper tv & theater with proper cables), this game will switch on something deep within your brain.

Your eyes will hurt after playing it the first few times, but that wears off.

It's entirely unique; give it a shot.

The game was exactly what I wanted and bought for my boyfriend. He likes puzzle games, so knew this would be a great game for him.

I just bought this for REZhd, the 3 games cost less on disk than REZhd on XBL. good deal. it's really sick how they keep the prices the same on XBL for years. Their not even trying to act like their not price gouging.

Overall Guitar Hero Aerosmith was an entertaining buy. I would only recommend this game to the die hard Aerosmith fan. The game is interesting in the fact that it takes you down the biographical road of Aerosmith as you progress through the career mode. The game features fairly realistic characters of the band as well as video interviews in between each venue. The career is a wimpy 31 songs only 20-21 songs of which are even by Aerosmith. The game does offer 40 tracks overall. If you are looking for some easy achievements this is the game for you, it is nothing like the achievements of GHIII.

Overall i would say this is fan buy only.

The price was great for the wireless guitar and game. Shipping was fast and everything looked great. We have spent many hours playing the game so far and the guitar is great.

Do yourself a favor and buy the bundle. The Aerosmith guitar is worth it. This game is a must for Aerosmith fans. The interview clips with the band before every stage is pretty cool. Gameplay is great. Music is great. I only with that there would have been more songs. Overall great game.

Honest reviews on Guitar Hero Aerosmith Wireless Bundle -Xbox 360

My kids and I got Guitar Hero III for Christmas and pretty much instantly wanted a second guitar to play together. This was a great way to get a second guitar and another game to play at the same time. The cost of this edition was $3 more with the wireless guitar (Dec 2008), what a deal!

The guitar is still the same plastic guitar from the other games, but has an Aerosmith faceplate on it and includes some more stickers. My kids are 8 and 10 and they can play the guitar on easy mode.

We enjoy playing career coop on GH III and that is sadly missing in this edition. You can still do single songs you have unlocked together, but there is no career coop, too bad.

My kids have a vague notion of who Aerosmith is from the Rockin Roller Coaster at Disney World. They enjoyed watching the behind the scenes takes on how the band came to be so famous. Some of the lyrics are a bit racy for their age group, but you can't hear them most of the time. It is the music that they focus on while trying to strum the notes.

I actually enjoyed this game here are my reasons:

1. Difficulty in easier then guitar hero 3. Because of this I was able to improve my playing drastically.

2. There are very few instances of Notes being thrown up in the guitar solos. I remember in GH3 when all of a sudden a 100 notes with no coherent sense would spam the screen. This doesn't happen here.

3. Easy Achievements: By the time I had finished expert mode I had unlocked over 550 points. I barely reached over 100 in GH3.

4. Great Replay Value: This is the first game in the series that I actually want to complete because I know that I can with some work.

The only downside is that it is missing two songs I would have really loved "Jaded" and "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" which were the two songs Aerosmith sang at the half time show.

***Also people are bashing this game for the lack of songs but they should note that this is an expansion pack of the first game and that expansion packs never contain near the same content as the original game itself.

hydro thunder is a speed boat racing game that has 13 courses all of which vary greatly from each other in design and locations. tropical islands to chinese water ways. the controls feel like they should, as you slide across water. there are also at least (probably more) 9 different craft to choose from each with distinctive handling which can be necessary on harder tracks. about that, this game is crazy hard to finish everything. you need to play decently and some how hit nearly EVERY boost power up in each course. the AI seems to pace things out so you're always just barely where you want to be. finishing in first is a rare thing and takes real skill, but at least you'll have a lot of fun getting that skilled.

Ever played Hydro thunder? Yes? well of course, it was everywhere! the dreamcast version exceeds expectations, the graphics are retained, the gameplay perfect, and it's just as fun as you remember it, especially if you get the wheel. The dreamcast version is also much better than the N64 port, graphics wise is the most noticeable, but also in sound.

This is almost arcade perfect. The speed and enjoyment of this racer is almost unmached by today's racers STILL (BurnOut 3 & Revenge are in my mind the only better). A MUST HAVE for Dreamcast owners.

I think my title explains my opinion already. I've had this game for a few days and so far, I'm loving every minute of it. Could the controls be a bit tighter? Yeah, I guess so. Does it hinder the gameplay? NO! Not nearly as badly as everyone is saying it does.

I bought Web of Shadows this summer in anticipation for this game. I played all the way through it (did everything, got every single achievement, etc.) and Web of Shadows was probably one of the glitchiest games I've ever played on the 360, hands down. It was a huge sandbox title, and that was great. However, the last 1/3 of the game got so hectic that the whole game engine seemed like it was about to implode on itself. The game wasn't able to maintain 20-25 FPS, which I think is absolutely ridiculous for something released in past 4-5 years. It is especially ridiculous for a non-port console game on the 360, which developers always say is the easiest console to code games for.

Shattered Dimensions runs smooth the entire time. I haven't seen it stutter once since I bought it. The whole game is vibrant and beautiful, and it plays out like one giant comic book. I don't want to say the game is cel-shaded (although on the Amazing and Ultimate levels, it's awful close), but it's definitely something in between normal and cel-shaded. It's perfect for this type of comic-book game.

Did I mention the voice-acting? The voice-acting in this game is INCREDIBLE. (The voice-acting in Web of Shadows was horrendous, so this gets huge marks in my book.) I liked that Stan Lee was brought in for the intro. Another nice surprise was that they brought in Neil Patrick Harris to voice Amazing Spider-Man, which was a great idea and he is probably the coolest Spider-Man voice actor that I've heard in a long time. I'm also really glad that they brought in Christopher Daniel Barnes to voice Noir, because he is my absolute favorite voice-actor for Spider-Man period. Barnes was the voice of Spider-Man in the early '90s Fox Kids cartoon, and he is the voice of Spider-Man that I always hear in my head when I read the comics; the game automatically gains my approval just because he was a part of it.

So I don't mind that the controls aren't as perfect as they could be, because if Beenox did anything right with this game, it was the voice-acting and the art style. Oh, and the storyline? If you have any fond childhood memories of the Fox Kids Spider-Man cartoon from the early '90s, you will go crazy for this game. I can't say enough how much they hit the nail on the head with the story-telling in the cutscenes. It tapped right into all the nostalgia I had from being 7 or 8 years old on a Saturday morning. Totally awesome.

That mostly wraps up how I feel, except for one last point; I'm tired of hearing that people are knocking this game for not being a sandbox title. The reason why this game wouldn't work as a sandbox is because it deals with parallel universes (which was a great plot device by the way don't believe the naysayers) and there's no way the game would have run smoothly if there were 4 different, completely functional NYC's coded onto the disc. I really could care less that Spider-Man isn't swinging around freely from building to building in NYC, because we got something in return for that sacrifice richer, more detailed levels in a variety of locations. Honestly, in pretty much every Spider-Man game so far that offers web slinging in a sandbox environment (Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Web of Shadows, etc.) it's been mostly a gimmick anyway. Were any of the locales really any different that you would swing to? No. Are the locales different in this game? Absolutely every level I've played so far has been completely unique! So stop blaming Beenox for "ruining" Spider-Man. All they did was just try something different, and I think they definitely need more recognition for a job well done! This game is really, really good!

Don't listen to anyone who says this game is a rental / bargain-bin option only. Like I said, if you're a true Spider-Man fan who appreciates quality over quantity and can get over less-than-perfect controls, you should buy this game. Don't hesitate; just buy it. You won't regret it.

Another holiday season upon us, and another Spider-Man game to swing in and grab our wallets. This is not always a bad thing, I appreciate that there is enough confidence in the Spider-Man name to carry a game without a movie tie-in. Is it a great Spider-Man game? No, but it has enough going for it to qualify as a solid title.

Visuals

One of the coolest things about SD is its use of 4 different art styles to depict different Spider-Man universes (comic timelines). The Spider-Man 2099 levels are colorful and have a neon quality to them. The Amazing and Ultimate Spider-Man levels are the only somewhat similar styles. The Amazing levels are cell shaded, brightly colored, and appear as I always thought a Spider-Man game should look. The Ultimate levels on the other hand have a more "realistic" palette, with a black suited Spidey to control. The Spider-Man Noir levels are dark with an emphasis on browns and greys. These levels make use of really nice lighting and shadow techniques. Good thing to since Noir Spider-Man spends large amounts of time lurking in the shadows.

Sound

Good effects but nothing to write home about. The voice work on the other hand is excellent. The banter between Spider-Man and his foes is fun and witty, just as it should be. Spider-Man is very talkative all through the game, especially in combat. Luckily the writing compliments the high class work of the actors, and it never gets old.

Gameplay

Along with the art style, the gameplay of the levels varies depending on the universe you are in. The Ultimate and the 2099 levels are the most similar, straight beat 'em up with subtle combo differences. Speaking of combos, you collect spider emblems and complete challenges in the game that give use points used to upgrade your moves in all of the universes. A cool feature that could use a more intuitive and less cumbersome menu. The Amazing levels are all about combat as well, yet with a higher emphasis on web-swinging. The swinging is not as fun or open as it was in previous Spider-Man titles, but it gets the job done. The Noir levels on the other hand basically turn Spider-Man into Batman. He now lurks in the shadows trying to avoid a fight, instead Spider-Man likes to stay hidden and take enemies out quietly. These levels are the closest we will get to a Spider-Man Splintet Cell crossover. The one really nagging problem with SD is the way the levels progress. In every level a boss character is introduced, then you chase him and fight lesser foes. You are then presented with a boss fight. Just when you think you've made progress by beating a boss, he gets up and runs away. You then chase again and fight stronger foes until...the same boss is fought again. In some levels this pattern repeats multiple times. This is the one design choice that really brings down an otherwise great game.

Is It For The Kids?

If you have a young one who is a superhero fan, a teen with a room full of comics, or (in my case) a daughter who LOVES superheroes, especially Superman & Spider-Man, then yep they will want this one. The game has a T rating, for mild language and suggestive themes, and violence. T is a title harsh for SD, the language is no worse than a hell or damn here or there, and the violence is in a comic book fashion. Spider-Man is not a killer, but one early level has you running from a sniper's scope. I let my kids watch me play this one, as the controls are a little complex for the little ones. Any 9 or 10 year old should have no problem though. This game is another example of the need for a rating between T and E10. Violence is an E rating killer, but in SD the context is that of obstacles to be overcome and not people to be taken out.

Overall

Spider-Man SD is a fun and relatively short game, yet I was not wanting for more at the end of my 7-8 hr trip. To some that may seem negative and short, it's not. I like when a game leaves me satisfied at the end. I feel the game conveyed an experience and I enjoyed the ride. So give it a try, and if you or your kids are fans of Spider-Man, then pick it up. Just be prepared to do most of the playing if you have little ones.

Being an avid Spider-Man fan, there is one sad truth that needs to be accepted....the games are absolutely amazing at first and then get old and boring after a while. That's because they are all sandbox games where the enemies and missions all just blend together. This is not like those games. This is a linear story line. It also helps that you switch between four different Spider-Man costumes all with unique abilities...my favorite is the noir one. What's nice about this one is that each enemy and boss all take different skills to defeat. It's no longer the beat em up that Spider-Man games once were. Well, it still is, but stylized too different to tell right away. I enjoy it but am glad that I rented it because with this not being sandbox game, I can see the replay being very low on this. Either way, always fun to have a new Spider-Man game on the block.

Honest reviews on Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions - Xbox 360

I played Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions on PC first but I wanted to play it later on my Xbox 360 downstairs so I also got this version. I like the variety of gameplay that Shattered Dimensions has to offer. It's like playing 4 different spiderman games in one. The downside to having 4 different types of gameplay is that there is a greater chance that you won't like one of the 4 types of spiderman. I liked all of them but I liked the NOIR spiderman the least because he relied on stealth more which made you slow down where the other 3 were at a faster pace. Still, I recommend the game to anyone that likes spiderman games or web slinging.

I Pre-Ordered Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions back before Sept. 7th(Am getting to writing this now, finally), and when I found out I had to wait through 7 hours of school before I get to play this game on the 7th, I died on the inside. When I got home I opened up Amazon's beautiful packaging(;-]) and there it was! The Video Game along with the Strategy Guide I had Ordered also. The art booklet was interesting, altho not my main interest. Also There were great voice actors (Neil Patrick Harris, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Dan Gilvezan, and Josh Keaton)Each charecter also has great jokes up their sleeves. The game itself was fantastic! I followed it all since the announcment of the title. With 4 different versions of Spider-Man this game was sure to be a winner, well...I was wrong, It was more! More Recent Spidey Games have sucked...to be honest, but this one is worth more than $60.I may be just in love with this game but it's really is amazing! Each dimension has it's own ART STYLE for god's sake! And First Person Scenes when fighting bosses(at certain points) Each Level has about 1 hour in speed running time(about) Lots of replay value, and features(Like hidden spiders,"Web Of Destiny", and Alternate Costumes!)! So let me get into a In-Depth Reveiw of each dimension then I'll get to the extras.

Amazing Spider-Man The Spidey We all know and love! the Spectacular Spider-Man! His style is using web based attacks. His Dimension Includes 3 bosses (Like the other 3 Dimensions) First is Kraven The Hunter! Russian Hunter and straight from the comics he came. This Level (1st) is a great starting point as you get through the basic controlls for the rest of the game. Another great thing is the art style in this dimension,...or should I say comic book! This art looks like thats exactly where it came from! The other 2 bosses are Sandman, and Juggernaut(With a Guest Appearence from Silver Sabel)...(In order I beleive). Both hold "AMAZING" (heh...punny)story lines for the level and unique enimies.

Noir Universe Noir...Where to start, ok. Noir Is pretty much the underdog for this game. Noir hasn't been used in any other video game title (as of 3/23/11). His style is Stealth,Stealth, and more stealth! His 3 Bosses are Hammerhead(Original charecter for the game)Vulture, And The Goblin. All Levels are based on NOT GETTING CAUGHT by gaurds and such. Noir basically sucks at hand to hand combat so dont go into the fight when caught, plus bullets do ALOT of damage. His Special Spider-Sence is being able to see through walls and see hidden objects. A Great, yet sometimes complicated addition.

2099 Universe My most anticipated Dimension pre-release. It had a nice, sleek look to it, as well as a nice enviroment. Everything, again, Is unique as for every Dimension. The 3 bosses Consist of Hobgoblin(Exclusive),Scorpion, and (Girl) Doctor Octopus (Also Exclusive). Each serve as VERY interesting Boss charecters and are GREAT fun to play. 2099's style is Speed/Agility. He Is very fast and pretty d*mn funny if you ask me! His special Spider-Sence is Making everything go in Sloowww Moooooootttiiooonn (heh). He also has the ability to Sky Dive! Which is tons of fun, for the breif seconds you do haha. 2099 Is deffinatly lots of fun!

Ultimate Symbiote This one is also fun. Kinda Risky to put into the game... Alot of criticism towards the fact that Amazing Spidey and this one are so similar. His style is combat, cause of the controlled(Madame Web's doing)Venom Symbiote. Its Special Spider-Sence is RAGE MODE(Personal Favorite) Where you DESTROY anything in your way. The 3 Bosses (In Order) are, Electro, Deadpool, and Carnage. Each fun, obviousley. This Symbiote combat makes up for the similarities for Amazing.

Extras During Gameplay there are things called Hidden Spiders.(8 in each level, I beleive) Each unlocks a challenge (within the game, not Acheivments/Trophys) Which unlocks new moves (Score!) and gives you a cirtain amount of money. Money can buy you things like Alternate costumes, ect. (excuse my absence of knoledge for that, I haven't played for months now.) Costumes include

Overall it is a fun game, but it does have some frustrating setbacks.

Pros

-3 game modes let you easily set your style of play without using tons of menu sliders (though they are available(

-1 touch juke and spin moves are very easy and natural.

-graphics look good overall, though some player faces are way off

Cons

-I've played every nhl game for the past 7 years or so and the face offs in this years release seem downright impossible. I have literally played games where I won no face off. Wtf!

-defensive AI is terrible and battles along the boards almost always go to the computer.

-the game often tries to keep things even, meaning that if I score a goal the computer often come right back and scores. It just doesn't feel realistic.

AND THE ABSOLUTE WORST CON IS...

-fighting. The fight controls have improved from last year, but the frequency of fights is infuriating at times. There should not be 4 fights in every period of play. It's rediculous. I turned the fight slider all the way down thinking it would eliminate fights, but there are still 3 or 4 a game. EVERY HOCKEY MATCH DOES NOT HAVE 3 or 4 FIGHTS EA! Additionally, the timing of fights is pretty random and unrealistic. With 50 seconds left I'm down by 1 and driving to the net and my player decides to start a fight? Wouldn't happen! Now I get to lose another impossible face off and try and steal the puck back once again.

Do you see the point I'm trying to make here? The base of this game is still the fun nhl platform we've enjoyed for years. But, the irritating quirks often completely ruin the experience.

I'm a big fan of the NHL series and I've played all of them since '94. This game is amazing graphically and it is one of the greatest hockey games ever. What a nice way to end the NHL on the 360 and PS3 to get ready for next gen! This is great!

PROS:

It has a ton of game modes like Quick Game, Ultimate Team, '94 Anniverary Mode, Be A Pro Mode, Playoffs mode, and many many more!

The '94 controls are back! That means that you can change to these controls and have an even simpler and better experience.

The fights now have Fight Night mechanics which make the fighting experience in the game even better as I was a huge fan of Fight Night Champion and boxing in general so I'm happy to have it there.

The crowd! Oh my gosh what a crowd, "Did I just see John McEnroe at the Rangers game in NHL 14?" I just don't know but the way that the crowd explodes when a goal is scored or when a fight breaks out or clutch moments, it's purely amazing! I can see their disappointment and frustration when Ovechkin scores the game winning goal in OT at Madison Square Garden when I was playing as the Rangers.

Extremely smooth gameplay, the players don't get sucked in animations and it has the feel of a real hockey game.

I also like the screen at the end of each period where it shows the coaching adjustments and the success of each team.

I like the pre-game things that the game does and the introductions of each team as well.

CONS:

-The game lacks a large amount of realism. The game has fights happening like 2-5 times a game. Every time that I get a big hit on my opponent, his little friends shove their gloves in my players face and then take them off and a brawl starts. You can win a fight by only pushing the right stick up or down without using any defense at all! That's just disappointing to see this in a game like NHL 14. Don't you need at least some skill to win a fight?

Cheese. It's my good ol' friend cheese. I've seen cheese in so many games, I don't get it. There is a difference between the AI just getting in a rhythm and just cheese. I playing Playoff mode with my hometown Rangers and we made it to Game 7 of the conference finals vs. the Washington Capitals. It was 2-2 at the start of the 3rd period, one of my players got a penalty for elbowing. So the power play starts. In the first 12 seconds of powerplay we give up a close range goal. I just say, "Okay, we'll come back, it's all good." Apparently it was not all good as we lose the faceoff with 2:48 left on the power play and it's 3-2 and we give up a long range goal this time 4 seconds later. It's 4-2 now and we lose another faceoff and they score another goal in 9 more seconds. By this time, I'm raging. It is now 5-2 and we lose ANOTHER faceoff and we give up ANOTHER goal in 23 more seconds. I don't get it! 6-2, what of a game is this now? We FINALLY win a faceoff but we miss our shot at a goal and they go coast to coast for, you know, another goal!!! I finally can't take any more of this and I quit and it simulates to the end of the game...... Yup! We lose 9-2! Cheese at it's finest. Hopefully, THAT won't come again.

IN CONCLUSION:

This game is a great game for any hockey fan out there and certainly any old timer who have NHL '94 like me back in the di-zzay! This game is amazing graphically and I highly recommend buying this game!

So first off let me say, i have NOT played an NHL hockey game since they went on strike in '99 or 2000 (can't remember exactly which year, sorry). So therefore i cannot judge from the past 12 years of their games.

With that said, this game however is FUN, right now i am playing live the life, where i am the pro. I enjoy it because i only need to focus on MY character, not the whole team, however on that same note, it annoys me because the team will make random passes or clear the puck way too often, when i am open or they could make a break for it. Sometimes i wish i could just take the puck handler and get it down ice for the score, i've lost quite a few games because my guy would be on the bench waiting for his next shift and the other team scores, then i will get on the ice, get something going, only to get called back to the bench in a few seconds and i have to wait again. However the overall of that feature is awesome, winning and losing does matter, but not as much as your person putting up good points (assits or goals) to impress the scouts and move you up to a better team.

I haven't played GM yet, so i can't comment on it. However just playing the games, are a blast. The hard hits, fights, presentation is just awesome!

Now for my negatives and why i gave it 4 out of 5. As much fun as it is, it can be frustrating, since i am back to being new at this game, i am not on the easiest setting, but one step up, i read others have had similar issues, where your team really don't know what they are doing and won't chase the loose puck, in fact i've passed a puck to a team mate, it bouced off an opponent, but still got to him, only to have him turn around as if he was going to the bench or to be on D so the puck just hit the wall and the opponent grabbed it. Really?! Come on EA, real life they WATCH the puck before they just leave the area to see where it goes. Anyhoo, also, on the lower level difficulty, the rubber banding is annoying as crap, i will score 3 to 6 goals in a game, feeling good, once im up by at least 2 or 3, they will immediately score 2 or 3 back to back to catch up. I've had so many shutouts and i suck at those so far, and then they usually win. I was up 6 to 2 one time, 3 period they tied me and won in overtime, seriously? So yeah be prepared for that.

Finally, my biggest gripe and probably don't matter any many, the menus are nice and options are alright, but clunky. I went to EA's music hub, turned off the songs i disliked the most, and would go to my be a pro season. For whatever reason, all the songs play, even the ones i turned off. In the main menu and normal game, its just the songs i want, but in live the life its like they forgot to propogate those settings over there, wouldn't that have been seen in testing? I guess i would of checked it out first, but thats just me.

Anyhoo, overall, besides my minor gripes, its a fun amazing game. Kills time, when you need time killed ;) And feels great to plow into that guy on the wall, hurt him, then start and win a fight against his buddy ;) 5 minutes well worth it lol.

Honest reviews on NHL 14 - Xbox 360

So far, I've played ~160 games (I had the early release) in EASHL with most being in club play, but a handful of OTP games as well. The good things I've seen so far are that hitting generally works, skating seems reasonably fluid once you have enough stats on your player, goalies aren't making saves they shouldn't and aren't letting in too many weak goals, the new EASHL seasons makes things a bit more exciting, stick lifting now seems to work well enough and not give constant penalties, and that the AI seems to be improving on the offensive side.

On the other hand, it also has a few areas for improvement. AI on D during a rush is almost useless and gives up the toe drag wrist shots from the high slot as it has in the last 5 years or so. On top of that, these seem to be going in at an alarming rate for players who likely are well below having their legend card yet. Larger players seem to have a big balance boost, which makes it nearly impossible to knock down a player more than 4 inches taller than you. Poke checking seems inconsistent. Forcing passes through defenders works too often, and offense seems to be much more able to pick up loose pucks than on defense.

While at first fighting seemed like an improvement over the old system, after getting into a few dozen fights the majority of online players just seem to mash the punch button and manage to win more often than not. There doesn't seem to be much of a way around this either. Using R2 to dodge and counter is somewhat difficult to do, and if they manage to connect with a hit, you might as well just let them win. At least the old system gave you a ton more control as far as dodging went.

More disappointing is that face-off spamming (continuously trying to win the draw before it is dropped, making your character twitch) still works in the game despite countless complaints and EA promising to fix it. As a top 50 center right now with 60% wins, I still manage to have games against these guys where I go 30% while they are clearly exploiting the system. Its been going on for a few years now, and should have been fixed long ago.

Finally a more minor issue is that low speed skating that you would do defensively to get into position and face the puck is more difficult than it should be, and results in too many cases where I'm out of position because the game decided I wanted to do a big spin rather than just turn my hips.

It will be interesting to see how future tuners change this, as EA doesn't seem to have much of a rhyme or reason for many of the changes they end up making, so we could be looking at a much different reaction in 3 months or so.

Someone really needs to open up a shop to compete against these guys across franchises (NHL, FIFA, NFL, etc.). Back in the 90s EA Sports was a fresh and innovative game maker, now they are innovating for the sake of innovating and their "game improvements" are mostly just gimmicks. This game is pretty much the same as NHL 12 so there isn't really anything better about it, or new, or fresh that the older franchises don't have. You are basically paying $60 for new rosters (this is the case with almost all EA franchises these days).

Funny thing is, they don't even fix the bugs from the old game. In NHL 12 there was a bug that would happen where all the buttons would shut down and your guy would just randomly start skating backward in the middle of the game. You used to be able to disconnect the controller or pause the game and reset the controller configuration to fix it. In NHL 14 this bug is even worse, it happened to me while playing an online tournament against the machine. Luckily the issue disappeared with the end of the period, but it just shows how little attention EA pays to their product development I'm sure others have experienced this and requested a fix. It's two versions down the road and the same bug occurs worse hilarious!

The other hallmark of EA games (both FIFA and NHL) is poor server support. Last night the servers were down randomly for about an hour in the evening and then this morning I got booted from the servers while going into a second tournament game (thanks EA for wasting all my players contract game and giving me a loss I didn't earn for nothing oh and no coin). If you have ever played FIFA 13 you know exactly what I am talking about that was probably the worst sports game I ever played in terms of the glitches. EA Sports is a disaster as an organization and the only way they are going to get the message is for people to stop buying their sub par products year after year like lemmings.

This game's HUT is also sucky compared to FIFAs, the packs don't always download correctly once you purchase them, and the whole interface pales in comparison to FIFA. Now, I get that this isn't soccer, but the whole interface on FIFA works better and is more efficient than the NHL version and the games are made by the SAME DEVELOPER! For instance, it's ridiculous how you have to go through a bunch of different menus to find out who the hell your backup goalie is you don't have to do this for any other position and its absurd. I didn't even know who the hell the guy was until his contract was up. Again, this is still something that EA hasn't fixed from the NHL 12 version (and probably versions that predate that). Basically I can hit Y and see all my lines in one easy interface except for my goalie position. For that one position, I have to highlight the goalie and hit Y, then to replace the goalie I have to stand up dance in a circle, hit X or Y and some other buttons and finally I can replace him horrendous interface and there is nothing on the screen that tells you how or what to do I found out simply by messing around.

Oh and I agree with the other reviewer who wrote that the AI is crappy for lower experience levels. It has been for years. The engineers seems to believe that the only way to make the game harder is to make the machine score on less shots. So basically, as you increase the skill level in this game, all that happens is that the machine scores more quickly, no matter how bad the shot opportunity and he can move the puck easily with none of your defenders being effective at all. It sucks and is definitely the worst of the EA franchises. But worse, I played an online tournament on Amateur on HUT and clearly they didn't match me up with the people of my skill level I got shelled 6-0 by a guy/girl who was clearly on another level. Good job EA, that makes me want to keep playing! The HUT seasons are admittedly a bit better at matching the skill levels of the players. However, the overall gameplay is pretty poor when you aren't playing a friend or the HUT seasons.

Bottom line is that if you want to pay $60 for new rosters and a better fighting experience (NHL 12's was absurd) then have at it. But if you were expecting EA to spend substantial time and effort improving the game experience, forget it just keep playing your older version.
