Greatness is a word I want to stress regarding this game. Drake's Fortune was great fun, a welcome departure from the end of the world/futuristic shooters predominating at the time. Among Thieves was the ultimate sequel and built wonderfully on all aspects of the first. Drake's Deception, the third entry in the series, is something else altogether. This game sets a new precedent for how inclusive and engaging video games can be. There will be some who won't feel so strongly but most anybody who loved the first two is going to LOVE this.

>Graphics 5/5 As always, fantastic! They have managed to improve on the sequel. While the game still looks the same overall it is the details that ND continues to add that makes each game an improvement over the previous one. This entry specifically seems to push the already present cinematic feel as evidenced brilliantly by its opening scene and chapter as well as numerous times during the game in cutscenes and gameplay.

They show off their abilities by purposely trying to show us different settings than the previous games. The London Underground is wonderfully designed, the Colombia streets are populated and lively, a temple found in Syria has a wonderfully cinematic design, etc. They also show off their ability to render fire, sand, some excitingly trippy hallucination style sequences where everything is warped, and a fantastic (if slightly out of place in the overarching story) swaying environment on a ship. Another nice touch is some levels occurring during day and others at night.

Character acting has again improved as much between this and the last game as the last game did over the original. Faces are fuller and more expressive (Chloe's face is major evidence of this). This game looks so good family members will stop to see what I am watching and so entertaining they then wind up sitting down to watch me play.

>Gameplay 4.5/5 Drake's Deception has everything you loved about the first two games, only more finessed and perfected. Enemies are now slightly smarter and diverge on your position quicker (though in some ways I'd argue this makes them easier to take down, no more pin downs). The weapons system has been updated and tweaked (anyone who played the beta knows aiming is more particular, but you quickly adapt). Drake now grabs weapons automatically when out of ammo, another nice added detail.

The best new feature seems to be the updated brawling system. In what reminds me of the recent Batman Arkham games, Nate can now evade, counter and take on multiple opponents. It's all great fun and plays well. The ability to dive underwater becomes well utilized in later chapters. The new ability to ride a horse is simple but works well, think of the jet ski from the first game only updated, you sort of just steer and shoot. Another nifty new detail is the ability to throw back grenades, though you have to time it well.

Having finished the game I will say objectively that any faults to be found are in gameplay pacing/mechanics. All games I've experienced have a sometimes clumsy quality to gameplay. On occasion you press a button and it doesn't do what you want, that's just part of gaming. In Uncharted this manifests itself when sometimes trying to reach for a specific ledge, it can look like Drake is doing calisthenics.

The other issue is more subjective but this game seems to have less prolonged gun fights (which I always enjoyed) and more of the game plays itself in a sense. Another reviewer said it best noting that the game holds the players hand more this go around (press square now, circle now, etc), this may please some but will definitely aggravate others looking for more challenge. Though this may be due to my having a better handle on the gameplay by this third installment it would still be nice if some new/larger challenges were added to compensate for those who have learned from the previous entries.

>The story 5/5 I won't give anything away but well crafted stories are a key reason for the popularity of this franchise, this entry doesn't disappoint in that regard. The actors perform great as always, so many nuances brought to the characters. This game takes the world of the previous games and expands on it. If the second game was a continuation of the story from the first then this game is an opening up of the characters, their world and the story being told.

A wonderful backstory for Nate and Sully is crafted and played out and a flashback of sorts is handled in a respectful way when it could've felt cheap or forced. There is a very Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade feeling here. This game has the mix of action, humor and romance that previous games had with strong emphasis on emotion in some key scenes (and for those concerned I felt Elena and Chloe's respective returns were well handled and logical continuations).

Another possible criticism though, the villain in this entry is formidable and compelling but when you finally reach the ending I don't feel she is as well utilized a final boss as either Navaro or Lazarvic. The villains overall are also not well explained, not that they have to be, some mystery is always nice, but how this one guy appears and vanishes almost magically at several points I'll never know. Then there is no real boss showdown. There is also a character, Charlie, who is fun but severly underdeveloped and largely used only for story purposes. These don't detract from the game at large but I mention them as I hope they aren't issues that will magnify as further installments are released.

>Online Content 5/5It was adding the online content to the sequel that propelled this series to a new status within the gaming world and here it looks like they aim to keep that status. So far it looks like all the fun of the Beta without most of the bugs or any of the restraints. Everything seems to run smoother and it feels more like playing Uncharted 2's online content, though perhaps this is because I'm more used to the updated mechanics after playing the full campaign? Anyway, you get more customization, more options, more everything.

>Conclusion > Game of the year? You better believe it. Certainly if you are new to PS3 or debating the commitment this game makes it well worth it. You don't have to have played the first two for this to be enjoyable (though I suggest both based on their own merits and to make this story even more enjoyable). While some game studios dream in the recesses of their mind only to wake and find it vanity, Naughty Dog are dreamers of the day. They act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible, and in making Drake's Deception, this they did.

The game is 22 chapters of greatness and should be a good 8-10 hours on the main story depending on player ability. Then there is the treasure hunting/trophies and acclaimed multiplayer to ensure you get well worth the $60 price tag. Overall I'd say this game could be critically rated at the worst 4.5/5 but as a fan I'll say anyone else who enjoys these games is going to rate it 5/5, no doubt.

Greatness from small beginnings is the phrase that starts out this story.

Uncharted 3 takes us to a whole new world of treasure hunting like never before. In this game, not only do you play as Drake, but as a young (child version) Drake as well. The story jumps back in time through out the game, where we learn how Drake and Sully met and become friends. A new woman is brought into the picture. This time, she's a former love interest of Sully and not Drake.

Rather than starting out the game in the middle of nowhere like Uncharted 2, this time you're in the heart of Europe in a British pub. But just as in past games, you are quickly jumping from location to location throughout the world. Each scene remarkably done and visually stunning.

On thing I really like that's different in the Uncharted 2 storyline is this time there's less issues with your team mates turning on you. In Uncharted 2, people on your team were often taking off, and you lost your allies as quickly as they joined you. In Uncharted 3, your team of 4 sticks with you and works together. Your not getting abandoned because you partner ran off with the bad guys, even if they were just pretending to be on their side.

The story is just as compelling as it has always been. Uncharted 3 plays out like a blockbuster movie, only you get to control the moves. Climbing, running, fighting and shooting your way through everything you can imagine, Uncharted 3 has managed to even out do their last game. As usual, while playing you also look for treasures throughout the game to collect. You have your journal again to help you solve puzzles as well.

Online game play is set up by using a pass code that's included in the games case. Once set up, you have game play options such as:

Team Deathmatch

Plunder

Team Objective

Three Team Deathmatch

Free-for-All

Hardcore

Co-op Arena

Co-op Hunter Arena

Co-op Adventure

The online game play benefited quite a bit from the open beta testing. The online matches are smoother and have less issues than there were months ago when they first opened the testing. I played quite a bit during that first month and can definitely see much more fluidity in the online game play movement versus how it was during beta.

This is not a game you will want to rush through. There is so much to see, treasure to collect and story behind it all.

Best Deals for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Playstation 3

Uncharted 2 ended up being a smash hit. Perhaps one of the best video games sequels ever produced. It was better than the first game in almost every conceivable way. It's hard to imagine any follow up to Uncharted 2 being half as good but rest assured, Uncharted 3 is just as good as it's predecessor. If you played the first two games and enjoyed them then you simply have to play Uncharted 3.

The story in Uncharted 3 is a bit more rich and defined than the first two games. Nathan Drake is back and this time he's searching for the Atlantis of the Sands. It has something to do with the ring he inherited from Frances Drake. But a woman by the name of Katherine Marlowe believes that ring is hers and it ultimately holds the key to finding this lost city. On paper Uncharted 3 sounds pretty basic, but watching the story in action showcases a strong character driven narrative. In particular players will learn more about the dynamic between Nathan Drake and Sully. The cast is remarkable and charming. And we learn about them not just through the cutscenes but how they interact with one another during some of the moments in between the actual cutscenes. The dialog and banter between them is charming, humorous and sometimes even heartfelt. There are also moments that can, and often do, feel as though they've been ripped from a summer blockbuster. Though some of it is definitely over the top, the character driven nature of the story is what ultimately makes it so good. Like the first two there is a distinct human element at play that makes the simple situation an interesting one.

The cutscenes are aided by extremely good direction and motion capture as well. The characters feel human. But more than that, Uncharted 3 is simply a beautiful game. The environments the game takes place in are detailed and the animations are smooth. The Uncharted games in general are some of the prettiest you'll ever see. But it isn't just that they're visually astounding, it's that their detailed and encompassing. The environments come alive. Other details also stand out a lot. Water or sand is amazing and the way the physics work is also amazing. If there's one thing we can clearly say about Naughty Dog, it's that they'll never skimp on the presentation of a game. The voice acting is equally as good and charming. Some of the best you'll hear in the industry. As you play and watch the characters interact and hear their voices it's hard not to love them. You'll be drawn into their personal hell and anguish, but also their joy. It's all great on the eyes and ears.

Gameplay wise, Uncharted 3 hasn't changed too terribly from the first two. There is a good amount of gunplay, platforming and puzzle solving throughout the adventure and the game does a very good job of balancing them all and pacing things along. The gunplay in and of itself hasn't changed much. You'll find yourself charging from one firefight to the next, taking down the bad guys and picking up their weapons or replenishing your own supply of ammo. You'll also take cover to avoid fire and pop up to shoot when the time is right. You can also enter melee combat which is fun as well given how much it has improved over time.

The platforming sections are generally among the easiest to acquaint yourself with. You'll find yourself scaling walls or jumping from ledges or hanging off objects all in an attempt to keep yourself from falling too far. Despite all the detail, the path is usually laid out for you. This is also true throughout the entire game. You'll rarely get lost or not know where to go next. You'll also rarely find yourself backtracking as a result. Aside from a few of the hidden treasures off the beaten path, there's no reason to really deviate from your destination. And if something should happen where you find yourself stuck, the game will point you in the right direction. The puzzles are pretty creative and simple. You won't find yourself stuck for too long, given that the game will provide hints thanks to a journal that Nate carries around with him.

The game handles all of this well, rarely keeping you in any given situation for long. What is more amusing is how much adventure is truly packed into this game. The second game, in particular, had amazing moments: A helicopter chase across rooftops, an amazing train sequence, a game of cat and mouse with a large tank and a jeep chase were just some of the second game's highlights. Uncharted 3 does a little more. Without spoiling anything, you'll find some of these moments leaving you quite breathless at the spectacle. It's not the situations themselves that are amazing as it is how the game presents them. You'll even find yourself scaling and shooting at enemies firing from above and watching as they tumble forward and fall past you. It's amazing stuff.

Without a doubt the biggest overhaul is multiplayer. Before the versus primarily had you on teams but here you can do a free for all or three teams against each other at the same time. You still have other modes such as the co-op survival mode or a variation of capture the flag. You also still have tons of different boosters to equip. But you can also enter matches with temporary boosters (called kickbacks) which you can get by earning a certain number of medals. They're not permanent but they help for those who may need that small boost. Likewise, for those who want a truly hardcore experience you can always go onto the hardcore battle arena. The maps are also ingeniously designed. Not only are your opponents people you have to look out for, but so are some of the environmental effects. In one level a sand storm rolls in, for instance.

The most rewarding is the co-op experience. Sure you can still go into an arena and do a survival mode and whatnot, but there's actually a co-op campaign here as well. And it's a full blown story campaign, complete with cutscenes and everything. You can team up with two friends and go at it. It's remarkably satisfying and pretty addictive.

Uncharted 3 isn't perfect by any means. Like the first two before it, there's a lot of precision in playing. For example how the game times some of its jumps when say... platforms are falling from beneath you. Or cutscenes that run seamlessly into gameplay. If you're not on the ball you may find yourself retrying certain segments constantly. Some moments can feel like a trial and error practice simply because you don't know WHERE to go immediately and thus you fail until you figure it out. Since Uncharted 3, like the previous two, is very straightforward and linear you generally only have one option out of a situation. If you don't find it fast enough in some of the more time sensitive moments you're done for. In other situations your timing may be off by just a second. Uncharted has always been somewhat of a challenge but most of it comes from the first hand experience. When you play through a second time things tend to flow more seamlessly when you know exactly where you're going and what you're doing. The good news is that checkpoints are everywhere. If you end up failing a platforming section or a gun fight you usually tend to start right next to it. So the game won't punish you too badly.

Uncharted 3 is a great follow up to Uncharted 2. Whether or not the game is better is up for debate. The multiplayer suite certainly is, but for some fans who were truly blown away by Uncharted 2, they have to face the fact that the third game isn't exactly the same leap forward that the second one was. You've got new weapons, a revamped melee system and you can now toss grenades back to your enemies... but for the most part Uncharted 2 didn't have much that needed fixing to begin with. It was a near perfect game, addressing each and every issue the first game had. With not much to address there isn't much for Uncharted 3 to really improve upon. Or add, for that matter. In seems the only part that Naughty Dog strived for more with was the story. And they succeeded. You certainly get a much more emotionally involved story but the gameplay is primarily the same thing here. If you've enjoyed the gameplay of the series thus far, there's no reason not to jump into this one. The story and characters alone make this a must play for Uncharted fans.

Honest reviews on Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Playstation 3

Uncharted 3 is a solid, well-put-together first-party AAA PS3 title. However, I don't feel it's as good as Uncharted 2. That's not an entirely fair comparison, since Uncharted 2 was a masterpiece, one of the best games ever produced from a design, pacing and story standpoint.

The third Uncharted was really very fun, and one can tell the game design was absolutely top-notch. Really interesting and varied environments, can't-put-controller-down pace it's all there. But it just failed to draw me in. Whereas Uncharted 2 had me on the edge of my seat most of the game (especially with Elena's story near the end), 3 was very good but a little predictable. I didn't really care for most of the game what happened to Sully, and frankly the small plot twists were far from unexpected.

This type of game needs, I think, solid character relationships to draw you in. Elena Drake is a great relationship: an on-again off-again attraction of opposites. Once I had extended playtime with her by my side, I was really interested / attracted to her character. Sully? It's whatever. Somehow the character feels a bit too one-dimensional. To me, Kid Drake is a very bad design call the sort of hokey thing a AAA title really doesn't need to have.

And Uncharted 2 was HARD. If you cranked it up to Crushing there were some parts that were nearly impossible. Even on Normal the campaign was tough and long. Uncharted 3 feels a bit short by comparison, and really quite easy overall. Only two or three times did I feel really frustrated in an encounter / gunfight.

I also thought the Tibetan / mountain art style trumped the desert. Guess that's a matter of personal preference, but it does seem as if Naughty Dog had a lot more time to flesh out the art and level design in the 3 years between Uncharted 1 and 2 than in the one and a half between 2 and 3.

Definitely a great game, probably 8.5 / 10 I think, but not a must play game of the generation.

I have noticed anyone saying anything bad about this game is called an "xbox fanboy" or the reviewer gets insulted.

Everyone has the right to their opinion and I happen to agree with the negative reviews about this "game".

This game was recommended to me by a friend and I had never played any of the Uncharted games before, but this game just seemed like very bland and repetitive gameplay. The chases especially drove me crazy after a while, it was like enough already.

New age games have all kinds of cut-scenes and very deep storylines, but its like you watch a little and you need to play through a little bit just to get to the next part so as opposed to it being like interactive it's much more one dimensional. This is the same type of complaint from everyone who gives this game negative reviews because it's true. The difference is some people enjoy this type of gameplay, I like many others personally do not.

The story is very good and so are the scenes and at points I found myself wanting to fast forward the gameplay just to watch the rest of it as I couldn't care less about playing it and in fact preferred not to as the gameplay was not that fun and seemed more like an interruption to me.

With a story like this and the way its setup the gameplay really is not necessary.

This game is very reminiscent of Tomb Raider with the puzzles and adventure and everything which is great, although I find it to be much slower paced and I found the gameplay is too forced and as I already mentioned feels almost unnecessary. There is no strategy involved or skill really you just need to make your way through to get to the next scene.

In any regard this game is certainly not worth 1 star like others have given it, but I just found it very slow and boring to play, but the story and cut-scenes are very good and anyone who likes a game like this will certainly love it, but if you are into more fast-paced arcade style games this is definitely not the game for you.

Ghost Recon is a welcome break from death match, you-must-be-on-speed-to-keep-up type games. Instead of pulling a trigger and running around until you kill someone, this game forces you to develop detailed strategies to accomplish your tasks. The action you do encounter (and there is plenty) is intensified by the fact the stakes are much higher -a couple of bullets or a well-placed grenade takes you out of the game. This forces you to develop a properly planned and well executed course of action.

The game is squad based. During single player mode, you play one of six soldiers and can switch between them at any time. Your player leads one squad of three, and you set a course of action for the other squad which is controlled by AI. As you complete missions and tasks, you unlock addition items such as new soldiers to choose from. Surviving missions also increases soldier skill.

Ghost Recon has significant replay value. It has 15 levels and 50 different tasks to complete, but because there are so many strategies that can be used to complete a level, they can be played numerous times with the same enjoyment level. Of course, on-line play adds tremendous replay and excitement.

In my opinion, the mark of a good game is how quickly time slips by while you are playing. Time after time I have intended to wrap up in 10 minutes only to find that an hour has passed. This is a fantastic game.

I do have a few complaints. The graphics are generally good, but can be on the choppy side at times. I have also experienced instances where the AI squad didn't do what I had mapped out. But, for the most part, the game is a welcome addition to my game library.

After burning out on Halo deathmatch and hankering for some good action to get the gaming juices flowing, I finally bought this game a couple weeks ago. The result? I am seriously addicted, and find myself creeping out of bed after the wife is asleep to just try one more mission!

I pretty much missed the whole tactical shooter phenomenon on the PC. I had gotten bored with endless varieties of Quake and tournament deathmatch and more or less gave up on the genre in favor of strategy games that take more thought and planning. So it's been a pleasant surprise to see how far a shooter can be taken and how a game like Ghost Recon is more of a military simulator than anything else.

I wanted a game that has both a compelling single-player mode as well as deathmatch capabilities. Ghost Recon delivers on both. The single player game is great for the ability to select and customize the six soldiers that comprise your squad. You only directly control one at a time, but can guide the actions of the others through a command interface that sets movement waypoints as well as aggressiveness, and you can take control of any soldier at any time. In playing against others you control a squad of three. The command interface and squad set-up interfaces take a bit of getting used to, but I had it down pat after a couple sessions.

The gameplay is great and full of suspense and anticipation. You usually need to proceed through the map very carefully, keeping a low stance to evade detection while constantly scanning the terrain for your enemies. Unlike Halo, in which your targetting reticle lights up when it scans over an opponent, you may be unsure at times over what you're really aiming at: an enemy soldier or just a tree? Also, forget about taking insane amounts of damage or finding a "health pack" to fix your wounds. A couple shots will kill your soldiers, and if they get wounded, they limp around for the rest of the mission. If they die, you lose that character forever and have to train a newbie for your next mission.

The game is great at creating a sort of spooky atmosphere. You are plunked down in a strange area with a map but no idea where your enemies are. The blowing wind makes trees sway and rustle, adding random movement that keeps you constantly on your toes. When gunfire has erupted from aside or behind me, I have literally jumped in my seat. One drawback is the total lack of interactivity with the environment. You cannot pickup objects, even weapons or ammo from your own dead. You cannot even open or close doors.

I have seen lots of complaints about graphics and while they are not stellar, as in Splinter Cell, they are good enough to convey a sense of realism. There are also complaints that the AI is too dumb to rely on to guide your other squad members. My biggest gripe with the AI is that it is sometimes TOO effective. Often my soldiers have taken out the enemy without me ever seeing where they bad guy was. I wish there was some sort of notification after which you could instruct your unit to fire at will or something. The bad guy AI is generally decent, with them running for cover, etc. In one scenario, I watched a dude drop to the ground, then crawl around the other side of a car, then re-emerge to try to shoot at me.

The only other main complaint I have is that the deathmatch option only supports two people playing on one Xbox, as opposed to the four allowed by Halo. And I understand if you do a system link, it is only one person per box. Unfortunately I am living outside the US and don't have access to Xbox Live, but everything I have read says this game rocks when playing multiplayer online.

It short, Ghost Recon has a few shortcomings, but the outstanding gameplay simply overrides all of that. This is one of the best game purchases I have made -up there with Halo and Max Payne. I am a new convert to tactical shooters, and will definitely keep my eye on further Tom Clancy-tagged games and those from the wizzes at Ubi Soft.

With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, squad based combat on the XBox lets you play through single player missions or take it online with XBox Live for up to 16 simultaneous players.

Gameplay involves you running a team of up to 6 members. The team members can be snipers, foot soldiers, engineers, and more. As in Rainbox Six, you can build your teammates up through the levels so they can gain more skills.

The single player missions are interesting, with landscapes varying from countryside to small towns to big city streets. You have to use stealth and strategy to achieve your objectives without dying or running out of ammo. Each teammate must use his strengths and help cover for each other's weaknesses.

The graphics aren't exactly stunning while the buildings have windows and doors drawn on them, for example, you can't shoot out the windows. It's more like they are giant squares with murals painting on them. On the other hand, the human bodies are extremely well done, with their movement and actions.

The sounds are immersive and draw you in. There's background noises of wind and cars which can make it harder for you to hear the footsteps of your enemy ... or at times mask the noise of your own footsteps. If a loud noise happens near you, it gives the realistic temporary 'underwater' sensation as in real life.

Single player is just practice for the real fun of Ghost Recon XBox Live play. Unlike PS2 or Computer gameplay, with XBox Live you're guaranteed that other players all have a high speed (Cable Modem) connection speed. This means the lag you see in many other on line games is pretty much completely avoided.

We play a ton of games on line and this is one of our current favorites. Recommended for XBox Live owners who enjoy team-based gameplay.

Honest reviews on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Xbox

Quite frankly, I'm shocked that this game hasn't gotten so many good reviews. This is one of the best military sims I've ever played, and I've played quite a few. If you don't believe me, at least download the GR demo somewhere.

Graphics-

I don't really pay much mind to graphics unless they're truly bad or make me think I'm watching something real, and Ghost Recon is neither. The environments are nice, but everything else is only standard.

Gameplay-

This game is rather unforgiving. Where running into one area without being careful can mean the difference between life and a character change, the overall experience is very intense on par with survival horror games. Rambo-to-be's need not apply.

Sound-

Not terribly groundbreaking here, but some of the explosions and gunshot sounds were nice.

Playability and controls-

If you've grown up on run-and-gun games, prepare for a complete mental plastic surgery. The only complains I have here are the enlarging aimers of all Clancy games. They take a bit too long to get small enough. But, since targets (including you) go down at 2 shots at most, this probably won't be a problem anyway. The lack of jumping is a bit odd too.

Replayability-

Through the roof. There are multiple modes for playing each mission. For example, you could do the actual mission, or select firefight mode (where you just have to kill all the baddies) or recon (where you just have to make it to the checkpoint). Both bring suprising longetivity to the game, as well as the many unlockables, and of course, Live play.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Xbox

First off let me start by saying that Ghost Recon is NOT like Halo. You do not charge in throwing grenades and holding the trigger button for 3 minutes straight. This is a strategy game. Instead of one path you have a wide open area. You could go straight, you could go right, you could go left. Its up to you. The Ghosts are divided into two three-man squads. One squad follows you, and the other you command where to go. This way you can split up or stick together, its your choice. This is a game of patience. You will often be moving only a few feet at a time. Every now and then you have to stop and scope the area for enemies. If you go in fearlessly, you'll be ambushed and killed. Oh that reminds me, this game does not deal with any "life bar" bull. This is realistic. If someone shoots you in the head once, sorry buddy, your dead. You might however get away with a shot to the leg in which case you'll be injured and move slower and your skills will be hindered. Online this is a fantastic game. With some good teammates, you'll have a great time working together. Hell, even with team mates who dont care about you and watch out for themselves only, you'll have a great time. The game's that good. If you dont have Xbox live, you might just wanna rent this and see if you feel like beating the missions on all difficulties and unlocking everything which can get a little repetative but QUITE challenging. I would recommend this game for adults who dont mind strategy, stealth, and planning your course of action. I wouldn't recommend this game to people who would rather take 300 bullets and live and who like to just blast away untill everyone's dead. And to those who say that it's stupid that you cant see your gun, shut the f^ck up and find something relevant to complain about. The only complaints I have about this game is that its not very interactive. Although hiding behind a tree or corner is very effective, you cant go in most buildings and none of the missions require you to flip switches or pick up anything. Also, you can't jump but you CAN crouch, and even lay on the ground. There are tanks in the game but you can't drive them which is a shame too. If this game had drivable vehicles and a few more commands it would be top notch.

This controller works great for regular gaming. However, to play any type of game that requires a headseat with sound or microphone use the port where you put the headset is defective.

Overall the product was good, I would have prefered it if the description would have noted that the controller WAS NOT wireless. For XBOX360 you are led to assume the product is wireless.

Ok so first things first, the overall review. It is a good game but is not worth the $60 dollars i paid. I would pay $20-$30 dollars for it. It is surely not compareable with cod4 or 5.

PROS

>Online is great. It is fun for sniping or just shotguns.

> There are so many vehichle you can use which is very fun. There are 1,2,3, and 4 person vehicles. There is Atv's, Buggies, hummers, Armadilos, different sorts of tanks and different sorts of helicopters and boats.

> Lots of different sorts of maps.

> Choice to be two different speciseach with it own perks and disadvantages. There is the Strogg and the humans. For the strogg there is also lots of different futuristic guns and vehicles.

> You can choose to be different classes like medics, mechanics, snipers, field soldiers and others.

> You can build stuff like anti personel turrets or build bridges across ditches for tanks to get by.

Cons

> AI turn straight away and start shooting you even if you are 700 feet away.

> You can't customize guns.

> Can't switch controls around so there is always set controls

> Not the great of graphics

> Not as great as other gams like cod4 and 5

If you like online First person shooters you should get this. There are many different sort of gameplay.

This is a great shooter, and is vy easy to pick up and play. While the campaign is lacking, it makes its greatest showing in large online battles, with a vast amount of vehicles and maps its a very good game to own and enjoy with friends.

Best Deals for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Xbox 360

I bought a used copy of "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" for less than the cost of shipping and handling. I can't pretend that this didn't go far in excusing the weaknesses of the title, but let's pretend I was hyped out of my mind for its release and pre-ordered it because I just couldn't wait to pay full price for a low-bar FPS.

Disclaimer: I have not played any of the other Quake titles. However, I got the sense that this really didn't matter at all. Anyway, if you're into games that don't waste time with pesky things like "plot" and "character development," you'll be into this. The game begins with a very brief summary of The Strogg, a space-faring people hooked on a glowing, orange resource called Stroyent. They want it, Earth inexplicably has a ton of it, and only the most generic organization we can muster is capable of defending our all-important supply of the resource we didn't even know we had.

The EDF (Earth Defense Force) are the sort of international peacekeepers always allied against a larger threat like giant invisible chainsaw laser beasts from beyond Glaxar IX. They're used to wave after wave of bio-mechanical invaders, right? Sure, I guess.

The gameplay is class-based, which, for the uninitiated, means that getting killed is less of a bummer and more of a chance to switch up your tactics when you redeploy. Both sides have their versions of five character classes: Field Ops, Engineer, Soldier, Covert Ops, and Medic.

All five classes possess different weapons and abilities, making them useful in their own ways but without the ability to win an entire mission by themselves. This is the point of a class-based game; you attempt to be as effective as possible using the class you've chosen, earning more XP (experience points) whenever you participate as only your chosen class can. Example: If you're a Medic, you earn more XP for reviving/healing your buddies. The challenge of class-based games is always to find that twitchy balance between offense and defense, neutralizing newly-spawned enemies while not forgetting to focus on objectives like planting a key explosive or building a small bridge that will help your forces flank theirs.

The collection of vehicles in "Quake Wars" range from the foolhardy ATV and Strogg jump-craft to menacing air support on both sides. Coordinating them with your infantry and "lone wolf" types can be fun with friends online, but the A.I. bots in single player mode won't provide the level of support that you'd like. If anything, they tend to show up to complete your objective only after you've fought your way into the enemy compound alone, expended all of your ammunition, and died foolishly at the hands of the only remaining enemy that was too far away to slash at awkwardly with your melee weapon.

Then again, maybe the A.I. is exactly like playing with friends online.

The point is that this game works if you aren't expecting lovingly-rendered cutscenes (there are none) and unique characters on either side (there are none). Its strengths hover around the fact that it's about as straightforward as class-based first-person shooters come. I'd compare it to "Brink," and it is quite similar in some ways, but "Brink" is the better game of the two. If you just like shooting bad guys and you never really need a great excuse, then go for it. Especially if you can buy it for less than the cost of shipping and handling.

Honest reviews on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Xbox 360

I like most people was starting to get bored of COD4, I went to gamestop on a whim and picked this up. This game really shocked me in terms of fun. Its a Combination of Star wars battlefront, and Frontlines fuel of war. It has the frontlines aspect of frontlines, and the action, of battlefront, it contains many, many vehicles. The graphics are decent, nothing out of the ordinary, however if you cant wait for BF Bad company, then pick this up, it'll give you hours of fun

Very fun game with many possibilitys, each race human or strogg has there own classes which can do many different things ie hacking into your body and walking around as the other team mate to assasinate, or building turrents so you can sit back and repair vehicles and defend your base with that. theres also many vehicles that are avalible that are fun to use, jetpacks and mech robots are very fun. i'd say 5/5 gives you a good break from halo or somthing its not so competitive because even if your not a good shooter you can be a medic and heal your team or a constructor and build or repair things very fun imo!

You know you hate those dreaded red lights on your xbox. Fear not though. You can fix the issue yourself with a bit of time and some parts from XBRDepot. I hadn't heard of this company until I had trouble finding some of the parts I needed to fix my box in the home improvement stores. Lucky for me, Amazon carried their products.

The first thing I noticed is how flat the tops were. This is exactly what you need for this mod. I also noticed that the screws were MUCH shorter than the ones recommended by other sites for this mod. But once I checked out their website for the instructions I found out the size was actually perfect. It was just as wide as the other screws, just shorter which meant you didn't have to waste as many washers. Perfect!

The screws themselves looked exactly like the picture posted. All in perfect condition and all felt like they were very high quality. If you are looking to fix your xbox on your own and are thinking about removing the XClamps, take a look at all of the great products this company offers by looking at their website. Then come back to amazon and order it here. It costs the same as the site but you can use your amazon prime to get it fast.

You really get a feel for what Charles must have been thinking when he put Snoopy behind the imaginary controls of a Sopwith Camel.

The game can get surprisingly tough as you advance to higher levels and some mission objectives were not very clear the first time around. I had to fly around a few times until I figured out what I was supposed to do. Overall the game is a blast.

It's hard finding games my 4 and 5 year old can play, but not Snoopy it is great for kids!!

Negatives about the game...

The direction will pop off the screen before you can finish reading them, so you find yourself asking alot 'What was I suppose to do??'

The only 2 player mode is dogfight and that gets boring after you shot each other down a couple times. It would be more fun if 2 people could play the mission together.

Postives about the game...

Even if you miss the direction it's easy to figure out the game.

Watching snoopy and woodstock is adorable

Best of all a game for the WHOLE family to enjoy

Best Deals for Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron - PlayStation 2

Remember the timeless newspaper comic "Peanuts" featuring Good Ol' Charlie Brown ? Well, this time these guys are starring in their very first platformer video game for Playstation 2 !

This game happens to take place in the dreams of Charlie's multifaceted pet beagle Snoopy. Snoopy dreams that he's a WWI flying ace with his trusty plane, The Sopwith Camel. As you play Snoopy in the "Campaign" mode, filled with various missions, you get to pilot him as you fly your way towards his main objective: to locate his archnemesis, the Red Baron. Not only you get to fly the plane, thanks to pilot training from Marcie, but you also get to buy upgrades from Pigpen's shop such as special weapons like a Potato Gun, a Balloon Launcher, a Snow Blower, or a Flaming Boomerang.

The "Dog Fight" mode (no pun intended) lets you and a friend or two to see who's the best pilot with an array of your favorite "Peanuts" characters such as Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Woodstock, Sally, Schroeder, and even the Red Baron himself.

With impressive graphics capturing the feel of the world of "Peanuts" and some nice-sounding character voices to boot, "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" is one game your whole family will enjoy. (Even if the game is rated "E10+" like "Codename: Kids Next Door".)

The PS2 CMT Presents: Karaoke Revolution Country Bundle

comes with a great Microphone so you don't have to buy one unless you're interested in singing duets (to take advantage of that, you will need to buy an additional microphone). This game also utilizes the eye toy, if you have one (I also bought the Eye Toy 2 Game bundle that comes with the new Eye toy). When you use the eye toy, you can actually see yourself sing the songs or choose a character and use the eyetoy to put you in the background of the game (It's really neat)!!

The game tells you that there are 35 songs, what it doesn't explain is that you have to unlock some of those songs (Celebrity and Friends in low places are 2 that I have unlocked in just one sitting). You unlock outfits, games, characters by singing well and earning gold, platinum and diamond records. You can set the judging for easy, normal and difficult. It also has training so you can get used to it. We just jumped right on and headed for the "arcade" competition. You can choose your character and make them look like however you want, even change their outfits. You can choose the songs you want to sing, or choose random so that it chooses for you, and you can choose the arena you sing in (again, with the eyetoy, you can put yourself and/or your living room into the scene)!

I just received the game yesterday and my daughter and I couldn't stop playing, it's addictive!

If you don't want to compete and you just feel like singing, you can choose the "karaoke" option and just sing without being judged. There are also mini-games on there, but we didn't get to that yet. There is a lot you can do, I was so impressed and the song list was all the hot country music out right now. The other great thing about this is you can choose to sing along with the original artist of the song, or you can lower their voice and/or music to just sing the words by yourself. We enjoyed singing along, like you would in your car or watching their video, it makes it a little easier in my opinion.

The game is very enjoyable, even when you've already sang a song, you want to sing it again to try to improve, love hearing that crowd cheer! But if you sing badly, you will get booed off and get zero points (my daughter didn't like that!)

If you like singing, especially to tunes of artist's such as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, JoDee Messina, Martina McBride, Kenny Rogers, Gretchen Wilson, Toby Keith and even Patsy Cline, Buy this Bundle!!

I Highly recommend it!!

My entire family including my 3yr old and my own parents love playing this game together. It is a lot of fun, and promotes self confidence, as my sons, ages 8 and 11, were initially embarrassed to sing in front of people, but now we compete and have a blast. I highly recommend this game. It is so much better than traditional video games. I also recommend the other Karaoke Revolution games.

If you are one of those people that turn up the radio in the car and sing to the music, this game is for you! We had a blast with this, not just the kids, but the adults also got way into scoring against each other! I thought the variety of songs was excellent, there was something for all voice ranges and with the selection of skill levels, one player could be a medium and the other an easy so that everyone does well (this was great for the kids who don't like to lose!!) If you like to sing, even if your're not that great, you will love this, especially if you have family and friends to play with!

The Sims 3 Island Paradise is an incredible expansion pack, filled with a so many new things for your Sims to do and explore. The new town, Isla Paradiso is actually a group of islands in the ocean, each one with different buildings and homes on it. Instead of traveling everywhere by car, now you hop on a speed boat to get from island to island. The whole ocean is there for you to explore, and there's stuff everywhere!

Homes can now be built right on the water. Instead of driveways and garages, you now have docks and slots to park your boats (speed boats, row boats, sail boats, and more). Homes sit right on the beautiful blue ocean water, with fish and huge sharks swimming right around them. Your sim can fish and skip stones right off the dock, or jump in and do a bit of swimming or snorkeling for seashells and gems.

When your ready to venture out even farther, head out to one of the marked scuba diving locations for an adventure under the waters surface. Your sim needs to have spent some time working on their snorkeling skills first, before they will be allowed to take an underwater trip. When they're ready, they will switch into their scuba gear and dive down quite a ways, checking out all the fish and plant life that dwells on the ocean floor. Each dive location is completely different from the others, some having more things to explore than other. While under water you can catch fish, open treasure chests, explore caves (in the same way your sim can explore the catacombs in the graveyards) and even meet and socialize with other sims underwater. You never know who you will run into while swimming or scuba diving. Regular people, ghosts and even mermaids all are around and exploring the dive locations.

You'll find everything from money to pieces of maps in the treasure chests. Gems, shells and other items can also be found while your searching underwater. But you'll need to be wary of sitting in one spot too long. Linger around, floating in the same location for a while, and one of the large sharks swimming by may try and make a meal of you. Even if they don't attack, you may find just the sight of one of them makes your sim have an accident in their wetsuit!

When you're ready to spend some time on land, there's resorts you can kick back and relax at. Make sand castles on the beach, take in the view from one of the new balconies in the build menu, or for a shark-free swim, play on some of the new slides and waterfalls at the resort pools. Lifeguards patrol the beaches, and you can even take a job as one, with it being a new sim career choice.

For those wanting to build their own homes and resorts, there lots of new things in the build and buy menus. Tables and chairs, new lighting options, bright tropical decor, fountains, new plants, trees, flower and rocks, hot tubs, fire pits, a few walk for your sims to walk across, and so much more. There's a new All-In-One-Bathroom that is about the size of a shower for your sims to use on their houseboats, where space in minimal. They go in and all "bathroom needs" are filled at the same time. Your sim can even buy a wind-surf board or a "Aqua Sled" jet-ski to play around on out in the water.

There are a several new pieces of clothing added for sims to wear, including some new swimsuit options (finally!) and lots of warm weather clothing, like shorts, dresses and tank tops. There are also a few new hair styles added. New sim traits and lifetime wishes have also been added to the game.

But the focus in this expansion pack is definitely the water fun, both on the surface and under water. Everything is about life on or in the ocean. Much like the Sims 3 World Adventures pack focused a lot on exploring hidden tombs and such, this pack is all about exploring the sea. It's almost like an Island Paradise version of World Adventures. There is so much in this pack to do and explore, it's definitely one of the best Sims expansion packs made to date!

Do not waste your money if you intend to play Island Paradise on a MAC. EA has been aware of problems with many of the Sims expansion packs that they claim work on a MAC for quite some time now and they never bother to address and or fix the problems. Once this game is installed you would be lucky if you have 2 minutes to create a Sim. If your lucky enough to eventually get into the game itself, it's just a matter of minutes before it crashes to the desktop due to routing issues and cider issues.

EA does not specifically make this game for MAC. They rely on a wrapper called Cider to run Sims on a MAC. Cider is a wrapper that is used to run PC games or applications on a MAC. Until they fix Cider issues to run the game properly on a MAC, you'll have continuous crashes.

Before you purchase this for MAC playing, do a little homework and search the internet and/or check out EA's Mac forums. Searching for Cider issues/Mac issues with Sims3 will give you plenty to read.

I loved playing Sims 3 when it first came out but all the latest expansions have turned this game into a chore trying to get it to play instead of being enjoyable. You'll spend more time uninstalling, reinstalling and looking for ways to make it work on your MAC than playing.

Honest reviews on The Sims 3 Island Paradise - PC/Mac

Pre-ordered the game because I wanted the survival pack! I was pretty excited about downloading it. Some of the Sims Game allow you to directly download from Amazon, while others refer to you download from Origin (like with Island Paradise). I am hoping they will soon be consistent about the downloading process.

The download was quick and easy, and within twenty minutes I was loading it. First thing I wanted to do was to try the snorkeling. That's where I noticed my first glitch. My sim kept switching in and out of her snorkeling gear. Then I decided to have her go scuba diving, and while talking to a mermaid, the game glitched again and everyone who was swimming near me, including the mermaid, was transferred to shore. Pretty weird, don't know why that happened.

Other than the minor swimming glitches which I'm sure will be fixed at a later date, the game is awesome! I am loving all the new hair styles and clothes for my female sims. I tend to only make girls, not really sure why. Probably cause they're more attractive to look at, heyyyyy. I also like that you can run your own resort. Reminds me of when you got to make your own restaurant in Sims 2! That was so much fun, I hope they bring that back.

There are also new foods and new entertainment for your sims. All the new content truly makes this game worth while.

I think out of all the expansions put out, this one is probably my favorite. It matches my minimalist play style more so than the other expansions. With houseboats you are forced to see what you can build & decorate within a limited amount of space, and I enjoy the challenge.

Things I love about this expansion:

-houseboats and the freedom they bring

-the mermaids

-the underwater fishing (I find it a lot more engaging than that boring ol' fishing pole that's been around since the base game.)

-collecting sea shells

-letting my sims stay in a resort and and watching them interact with other resort guests

-the fruity beverages in pineapple cups

The biggest setback to this expansion is lag, but there are ways to minimalize it.

Tip #1: Play a user-created world (CAW) that has been developed to use the features of Island Paradise...one with hopefully lots of ocean, ports, and perhaps a descent dive lot or two. The world that comes with this expansion (Isla Paradiso) is full of laggy elements. It was poorly made.

Tip #2: If you just have to play Isla Paradiso, then use the advanced cheat to discover all the islands. It gets rid of the particle clouds that spam the game. (Control + Shift + C THEN TestingCheatsEnabled True AND THEN DiscoverAllUnchartedIslands) Also, delete/relocate the Scott family and then bulldoze their houseboat. They have been causing a lot of people problems, myself included.

Tip #3: Clear your cache files, and make sure that all your mods (if you use them) are up-to-date. (Never EVER update the game with mods still installed.) I highly recommend the mod known as "Overwatch"; it fixed a few EA-created bugs for me and is routinely updated by its creator.

This game bears little resemblance to the original and plays more like Dynasty Warriors now. Everything that was unique about N3 has been removed. The over-the-top orb spark attacks have been nerfed and are no longer very impressive. All characters play EXACTLY the same, including the same available spells, unlike the first game where everyone had their own moves and abilities. Cut-scenes, levels and boss battles are reused between characters, and you can play down any the characters' paths in whatever order you want, which seems like an okay idea but really undercuts the narrative. Voice acting is pretty bad on like half the characters.

All that aside, the game is fine for what it is -a Dynasty Warriors clone. If you go in expecting it to be like the original Ninety-Nine Nights, you'll be disappointed. If you just want to play something like DW but with different characters then this game is pretty good.

N3II is far better than the original.

The Overall story revolves around a Entity called The Lord of the Night's conquest of the world, leaving the country of Orphea one of the last standing. While the first game's story was merely connected by chance meetings of few characters, N3II story is about 5 individuals who unite under Orphea's banner to fight back against the Lord of the Night (reminds me of power rangers). While each character has their own narrative which shows their part in the game's events, the flow is disjointed. You learn about the Lord of the Night mainly in Galen's side, while Sephia's does not reveal a thing and only serves expand her character(that's when i learned of her very one-sided crush on Galen). One could play each missions in chronological order with out beating any character final mission. All 5 characters are unlocked by Galen's 4th mission. 3 1/2 stars

Graphics

The game has nice detailed graphics, it's not AAA gorgeous, but it's still good. Unlike the first game which can show hundreds of troops, N3II has just two hundred at most, no slowdown. The setting feels akin to Lord of the Rings, Color Range varies for each level, From dark and gritty to Arctic blue. The levels are huge and have diversity, You will fight in Forts, castles, caverns, forests, caves, and N3 II version's of Hell/Purgatory. Animation is smooth, though enemy movement seems a little too fast. Each weapon has their own design and each character has extra costume colors, both reflect the chosen character in cutscenes. Camera can freak-out when fighting to close to walls and a FEW graphical hiccups. blood effect are average and could be turned off, while gore is mainly separation at the torso and waist, as well as one arm for giants. Partial nudity, because some people don't understand, is at most a Bikini, which is what Zazi wearing, and when the cut-scenes focus on Sephia tattoo some cleavage. Strangely enough every character basically dual wields 4 stars

Sound

I don't recall hearing music in certain cut-scenes, though none of it is memorable to begin with, it does fit the mood. Combat sounds are as expected, but may drown out the in game chatter. The voice acting for the most part is decent, and most fit the lip sync. Maggni is the only one I'm bothered by for the sole reason that I think he's an idiot. Game-play

Anyone who enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 6 or 6 Empires will feel at home. Just like DW6, N3II does away with branching combos and basically uses DW6 Empire's Renbu and Skills. While the X Combo is not endless, the Y combo is slower, but is a stronger and wider set. X can flow to the Y set but just continues and finishes the Y combo, holding the Y button during a short combo will add a slam while holding Y near the end of the chain will add a few more hits followed by a launching attack. Characters special called Orb Attack (Super Combo) and Orb Spark (Area Attack)which can be activated by either a tap or holding down the button respectively, and the power depends on how many section the bar is filled out. Plus the 2 air attacks, a dash attack, and the murderous counter attack (Block then YY, or break a block YY)that's all characters have. The Skill System is like DW6 Empires, while holding a button you can activate a skill map to the buttons, these skill vary and range from physical attacks, magic of all types and stat buffs. you can dodge as well, which can cancel most attacks. Again, if you enjoy DW6, you will enjoy this game.

One thing N3II does differently is something i call " Devil May Cry Lite" focusing on strategic combat, very lite (sometimes horrendous) platforming, and small puzzles. Characters play the same, but they have an exclusive action. Other than Zazi's action, most are very useless in combat. Levels are long (some linear) and checkpoints are placed at the halfway point and the boss battles

Co-op is limited to Xbox live, and serves more as a challenge mode. You aren't really missing out much other than a few skill and very crappy "legendary" weapons

Fixes the first game's problems, in N3II it seems like every character except Maggni was trained in ninja running, difficultly has 3 settings, Recovery items are more common (the game still expects you not to get hit), length is, varied prepare to spend 30-45 minutes on most missions (most have a boss to finish). Boss only missions take 10 minutes tops. Galen took me round 7 hours, while Sephia was 4-5.

DLC is planned for those who care.

and don't expect the manual to have any information (Honestly five pages of the basicsrest is the same 5 in different languages.)

All in all, this game while a step back regarding combat, takes many steps forward as an 1 vs 100 game.

Best Deals for N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights - Xbox 360

N3II was a gamble on my part. While I staunchly support the hack n slash genre this one got negative marks across the board at many review sites. Was it "that awful"? The masochist in me bristled with excitement as I placed my order!

Disappointingly I must confess this is not a "So bad it's epic!" affair. N3II is simply "rather decent" for the genre and it fails at being the terrible intriguing train-wreck most gaming critics made it out to be. It's not going to blow any minds or stand out as a footnote in history but it's unabashingly enjoyable once you get pass the slight learning curve!

The first thing you'll notice is N3II expects you to sprint around while blocking and tumbling. If you don't pay attention to your surroundings archers, shamans, and annoying bird-things will whittle you down quickly. This game takes the philosophy of "death by a thousand paper cuts" and runs with it shamelessly!

N3II likewise has the distinction of being much harder than a typical Dynasty Warriors title. Some stages end with huge boss battles that can decimate your hero of choice and send you home crying. In other dire situations you must defend a castle gate from an onslaught of enemies who can do damage to the surrounding fortifications over time. "Winning" is one half trial and error and one half leveling up your weapons, stats, and equippable spells. Akin to an rpg N3II expects you to "grind" as you re-do certain missions to farm for experience orbs and hidden items.

Aesthetically N3II went through a bit of an identity crisis. The first game was lively, colorful, and whimsical. It wasn't too embarrassed to make you fight a giant frog-man wearing a king's royal red cape or put you into the shoes of a cute water bubble casting witch flying around on an enchanted staff. N3II by comparison splatters the blood of your enemies onto the camera lens as you cut them in half. The color palette is dimmed by somber broodishness and it really does seem that N3II switched out its' Narnia influence for something that is closer to ASOIAF or Lord Of The Rings. Whether or not you will take to the new style or not depends on the kind of person you are. I can appreciate the direction of both iterations despite the fact their extreme opposite polarities makes it hard for me to accept N3II as a "genuine sequel" to its' predecessor. It's the same shock of alienation that would occur if I watched the first Harry Potter film than proceeded to view Deathly Hallows. That's how jarring the atmospheric differences truly are. Perhaps Konami got "gritty and mature" to appeal to western audiences but sadly we're discussing a genre that is a hard sell here no matter how many severed limbs and brooding protagonists are added to the equation. Combining N3 with N3II would likely result in some kind of freakishly awesome gaming wonder-crack! A shame we'll probably never get a third iteration of this series.

Concerning the combat, I don't take issue with enemies cheaply juggling me once in awhile. Turn about is fair play and I appreciate the added challenge. However, the camera can undermine the player a little too often. It sucks to be mercilessly brutalized in a corner because I cannot even see the location of my character. Luckily this doesn't break the game. A quick evasive roll forward or to the side can usually help you get your bearings. Again, N3II encourages you to not stay idle too long. Amidst a swarm of cheap adversaries taking advantage of you ? Move your arse! Getting pelted by arrows as you try to mow down the infantry? Then change your tactics and go after the snipers on the ridge!

While it's wonderful N3II encourages you to be strategic during fights it's equally a downer you can't order around your allied troops. This was a feature that made the first game more satisfying and there really is no justifiable reason to leave out squad commands in the follow up.

To make up its' shortcomings N3II adds "check points" to the fray. Personally I found them to be very helpful but other gamers have lamented over the fact "auto saves" can be spread too far apart depending on the chapter. I cannot help but to sympathize with the caveats of my brethren. Most games allow us to record or progress whenever we want so why stick to an archaic design choice?

N3II opens up with the lord of night being resurrected. If he can merge the orb of light with the orb of darkness he'll become immortal yet if he cannot do it by the 99th morning he'll revert back to ashes. The elf capital gathers 5 heroes together to restore peace and tranquility to the land. Galen is a dual wielding swords master. Sephia is an elfin princess and wind sorceress who uses bladed silken shawls. Maggni is a stubborn ogre brigand who prefers to maul foes with his bladed shields. Zavvi is a beautiful coa coa skinned elfin archer. The last character is a goblin assassin named Levv who uses chained blades to eviscerate crowds of cronies and to pull himself up to higher locations. On the plus side every character has a lot of attributes and gear to customize. They also have unique skills that aid them in exploring each environment differently from their peers. On the negative side their attack animations and movement patterns are roughly identical.

I may give off the vibe of being unimpressed based upon what I've written up so far. Yet you know what? I totally love this game! It's the first of its' ilk to come along and give me a decent work out even on the easiest setting. While the plot is simplistic it's not cringe worthy and the voice acting is tolerable. It's neat having to tactically balance the re-charge rate of used spells with the next mob busting orb spark attack.

Putting it bluntly, if you find experience farming, buffing up characters, collecting loot, blasting hundreds of adversaries into the air at once, and slicing monsters apart to be soothing and theraputic N3II is worthy of your consideration despite its' faults!

Bias opinion

With easy puzzles, rpg lite elements, multiple playable characters, platforming elements, and outright insane boss monsters N3II may entice hack n slash devotees who are craving for a more challenging adventure. Overall it's a good addition to its' genre but it's not so "ground breaking" it'll usher in brand new followers

The janky camera, a few poorly placed save points, and the lack of local co-op are N3II's main blemishes. Assuming you can forgive those follies it is an addictive, loot intensive, and grind intensive jolly fun jaunt!

For you if

If you're a massive battlefield hack n slash enthusiast, like a challenge, and you are generally put off by the anime aesthetic N3II offers a gloomy and grit covered dark fantasy tale for a cheap reasonable price. It may not end up on your "best games of all time" list but it will delight you deep down in the recesses of your more carnal and self gratifying subconscious!

Not for you if

If you never got into Dynasty warriors and Sengoku Basara or if you preferred the setting of the first N3 this game will not woo your socks off in the slightest. What we have here is a relatively okay game with a few glaring flaws that are hard to ignore for gamers who have set their bars of excellence on a higher level. Even for hack n slash fans N3II isn't quite as impressive as Dynasty Warriors 7 or Sengoku Basara 3. The drastic changes in setting and atmosphere are bound to metaphorically ruffle quite a few feathers the wrong way to boot.

Overall "4 practice bodkins out of 5"

N3II is a game of "mechanics" and what it does it does quite well. This is not a game that needs multiple patches. This is not a game that freezes or corrupts recorded data. It was crafted with the upmost care and attention to detail. Poorly placed save points and an ornery camera are "annoying" but neither imperfection is so glaringly awful it turns the core experience into an unplayable mess.

Fun factor "4 practice bodkins out of 5"

For hack n slash fans N3II delivers a lot of fun wrapped up in its' addictive farming and grinding! The darker fantasy setting, steady challenge, rpg level up system, and big monstrous bosses do much to seperate N3II from other hack n slashers in a good way.

Yet the lack of local co-op, inability to control allied soldiers, and sometimes frustrating spikes in difficulty need to be addressed all the same.

If anything this game intrigued me enough to check out the first one that started it all. Though it's unlikely, I would welcome another N3 game on the consoles with open arms!

Honest reviews on N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights - Xbox 360

The "professional" reviews for this game rated it as "boring" "stale" and "monotonous" which describes Easy Mode. Playing on Normal forces you to add some variety to your gameplay, while playing on Hard can crush your soul in the first level if you are not prepared.

This game plays like a very fast, very strong Dynasty Warriors. Any fan of the Koei series or this game's predecessor will be pleasantly surprised with this gem.

N3II is Konami's attempt to continue on with the Ninety Nine Nights saga. Instead of bringing in characters from the previous game, they've rebuilt the game engine and the characters. None of the characters from the original game have made it to this new game. That's not really an issue for me, as they weren't overly memorable anyway.

Even the original Ninety Nine Nights was a Dynasty Warriors "clone" of sorts. It was a mostly simple hack and slash, kill everything on the screen game. At the time it looked very good though by today's standards, it is obviously lacking. N3II is an upgrade to N3 and not a whole lot more. Graphically it looks good for a game of this style with so many enemies on screen at once, but as with most games of this type, the game play is all but bankrupt given the repetitive nature of the game.

I picked this game up on a lark for ~$15. I will say that for $15 it is certainly enjoyable, but anyone that paid full MSRP of $60 for it when it was released probably feels ripped off.

Graphics:

As stated, graphically it looks nice, I guess. The frame rate is a bit uneven as more enemies show up on screen. One issue I've seen other reviewers write about, and I agree, is that the amount of enemy types is small compared to how many of them you have to murder. Every one of the 1000s of enemies you'll kill in a given level are exactly the same to the point of being forgettable. Character animation is smooth and the graphical flourishes in the game are nice. Backgrounds are detailed well and draw in distance, while not perfect, is nowhere near as poor as a Dynasty Warriors game.

Graphics get 3 stars tops.

Game play:

I hope you enjoy pressing X and Y a lot, since that's pretty much what the game play amounts to. Every once in a while you'll fire off a powered up attack and kill lots of enemies by using orb power, but for the most part, press X and Y. Also on occasion you will want to use your special attacks, the ones assigned to all of the controller's face buttons (XYAB) while pressing LB. It's like they added that capability in just to toss things up a little bit and give a false sense of variety. In the end, it's just you slashing at enemies, sometimes killing a bunch of people in the process.

You can upgrade your characters with the experience you earn throughout a level, lending an RPGish feel to the game. One word of caution; UPGRADE WEAPONS and LEVEL UP, A LOT. This game will thrown tons of faceless, worthless enemies at you for hours, followed by a ridiculously cheap and tedious boss battle. If you don't power up the proper weapons and powers and level your character up, these battles will be nigh impossible for you to finish without divine intervention. It's truly a horrible experience to spend almost 2 hours on a level, on the verge of constant death, only to think you've finished the level to find you have to fight a demon you just aren't prepared for. And if you quit the game to the mission select screen? ALL of the experience you earned to that point will disappear, which lends further to the endless frustration these cheap battles lend to the game. It's like artificially increasing the difficulty of a game to make it seem more worthwhile. These boss battles harken back to SNK style fighting game boss battles; endlessly cheap, except finishing off these bosses isn't anywhere near as rewarding a feeling as defeating an old SNK boss.

Game play gets 2.5 to 3 stars. It is just like every other hack and slash game you've played to a fault.

Music/Sound Effects:

If you have your 360 connected to a surround receiver, be prepared to turn the receiver WAY DOWN. For whatever reason, Konami has decided that the game needs to be designed to be louder, it seems, than any other game in your 360 library. Switching from Borderlands to this caused me to have to really watch the volume. I adjusted the volume in the options, but it amazes me how loud this is when turned all the way up compared to other games in my library.

Music is orchestral/symphonic in nature and not bad. It's also not overly memorable. I prefer this orchestral feel over the fake guitars and ridiculousness of say, Dynasty Warriors game. Konami's composers aren't in love with MIDI guitars it seems, which is a good thing.

Voice work is decent both in English and Japanese. Nothing amazing, but OK. A far cry from Dynasty Warriors 2 and 3 that used just people in Koei's offices for voice work (and it showed).

Music/SE get 3 stars as well. Nothing stands out as exceptional in either case.

Packaging:

Cover art is nice. Back cover is bland and the description rather boring. The manual, yes, an ACTUAL manual, isn't badly done either.

Packaging is 3 stars as it is nothing fantastic and nothing horrible.

Over all:

N3II is simple OK. Mostly forgettable. At sub $20, it's worth a play through for some fairly easy achievements if nothing else. If you have your choice between this and another game that strikes your fancy, I say get the other game first. This isn't a completely horrible choice, but it's also so derivative of Dynasty Warriors and other games in the genre that it's simply boring. If you've never played a hack and slash game and just want to spend 45 minutes mindless killing stuff, this is definitely not a bad choice in game. I'd recommend this over any of the current generation Dynasty Warriors games (5 and 6; I haven't played DW7 yet as I will never pay $60 for a game I've basically already played) in terms of graphics, though it is a lot tougher, in my opinion, than the DW games because of the horrible boss battles.
