I did not have any issues downloading and starting up the game on my MacBook. The download its self did not take any longer than about 20 minutes. The new additions to the game make it more fun and more like the Sims 2. The issue I noticed on my computer at least is that when playing in the city Bridgeport everything seems to move slow. The apartments all only have 1 bedroom in them and I do not think that you can add more unless you can make room. I think you can't add walls. Thats a problem to me, because I wanted to move in a family of 3 into one of the apartments. Overall it seems like a pretty fun game and it has added lots of new things, I would recommend this Mac Download.

The file does not work on my Mac... I downloaded this at least 3 times and keep getting the same message "The following disk images couldn't be opened" Reason: "Illegal seek !! I would either like a refund or an actual disk version of this pack.

After reading all the dubious and not-so-dubious reviews about this download working or not I decided to give it a try. I didn't have any problem downloading. However, once installed it proved incompatible with my current version of Sims and Sims Showtime. I had to delete both and re-install Sims 3 in order for everything to work. I have not yet reinstalled Showtime for fear that it will glitch again. I've had Late Night for a few weeks now and I can tell you that, no, it is not worth the price. Aside from the cool aspect of being a vampire Late Night's other features prove annoying and time consuming.

Star RatingsThe whole point of Late Night is to bring your zero stars up to a five star so you can become a celebrity. Once you are at five stars you are now the highest ranking celebrity. You can get into any bar or club, you are also privy to exclusive giveaways that are randomly gifted to you just for being so magnificent, and you will be worshipped and asked for photos whenever you leave the house.

Also, the paparazzi will stand out on your lawn, every two to three hours you will have a false rumor spread about you that will bring your Sim's mood down for 3 days until or unless you sue the media or pay them off, and you will be invited to parties every night.

To gain stardom you must complete tasks like befriending a celebrity, dancing at a particular bar, or, depending on your vocation, some job-related feat that takes away from time you could be doing something else. Also, if you have kids the children gain stars/celeb points by virtue of birth/acquaintance with Mom or Dad.

Clubs/BarsUnless you populate your world with lots of sims--by which I mean create Sims and put them into apartments--there will be only three people at the club when you show up. You, the bouncer, and the bartender(mixologist). If the club is a Hotspot, you may be lucky enough to have a least two or three people in attendance. What is a club or bar without patrons? Pretty freaking boring, that's what. At the bars you can order drinks or 'bar food' and you can also converse with the mixologist or dance. (Also with enough skill you can moonlight as a mixologist, but your only customer will probably be the mixologist you're covering for.)

Vampires--Meeting a vampire is relatively easy. You'll want to hang around the ritzy Plasma 101 (I think its called for obvious reasons). Vampires hang in or around it all the time. Unless your Sim is imbued with the brave trait any time a vampire comes into proximity with your Sim they will have a little 'hunted' symbol show up in the moods box. You must befriend a vampire before they will offer to turn you or you can ask to be turned. Becoming a vamp takes approx 3 days. Good: Super-speed, no fatigue no matter how much your vamp works out and best of all the rapid ability to accumulate skills. A vamp can master an instrument or skill overnight. Bad: If you want to master the gardening skill you'd be better off with a human. Vamps are very limited in their outdoor time as night is only so long. The sun becomes an enemy for any outdoor task. (edit: Vampires life span about 300-400+) days before aging after they reach young adulthood).

Clothes: Showtimes clothes were actually better. The new outfits you'll receive are not really worth it. Buying some points on the main site and going shopping for things 'you' like would probably be more profitable in the long run.

Traits: I think there are about 3 or 4 new traits. Seriously they should expand the number of traits available. All of them get old pretty quickly.

Apartments: Horribly small, limited design with time-consuming entry. You cannot build anything in an apartment building. Most of the apartments are 1br, 1bth. You can live in a house on the outskirts of the city but land is limited and hilly and most of the houses are nothing like the ones in the original Sims.

Butler: Is a new feature. You can hire a butler for something like 1000+ daily. I only did so once so I can't remember the exact price. You'll have to provide a bed for him/her. I advise you to do so only after you've mastered the cooking skill if so desired. When the butler cooks there is no need for you to.

Extras: Furniture: Horribly lacking. Cars: A big joke. Hair: The worse in Hollywood.

In summarization the only things worth two cents in this game are the vampires and even they have their limitations. Wait til the price lowers a bit more--of course that could happen when Sims 4 comes out but you aren't missing much.

Honest reviews on The Sims 3: Late Night - Expansion Pack

So the game adds a ton of awesome things as everyone has said. There's no question there. I was worried when I got this because many reviews said that it did not work for them at all. Luckily it did for me and I was loving it, the game ran smoothly and it was fine. Until I started to use bridgeport as the town. Everything takes a ridiculous amount of time. CAS works fine, but it's really just the gameplay that suffers. Which sucks. But basically, it took about 3 hours (sim time) for my sim to go from inside his apartment to outside and about 4 more to get them anywhere in town. It's not that the game freezes or anything, the sim just stands there and doesn't do anything. Also sometimes during buy mode, when I try to place furniture the mouse freezes and the only way I can move the furniture is by pressing the arrows to move the view around. It's strange. Otherwise the game is great.
