"Finally, you don't have to choose!" Actually, you DO still have to choose. I mistakenly assumed that Kinect Sports 1 and 2 would be on the same disc and was disappointed to see that they just put the 2 original discs inside the same box. If you don't own the games, this is still a good package to pick up and is way better than Wii Sports. But if you already own one of the two Kinect Sports titles, you're better off just buying the one you're missing, instead of getting this.

My husband and 11 and 8 year old sons have had fun with the games but can't play the basketball game without Microsoft Award points which doesn't seem fair since we paid for the game. We're kind of new to the Kinect system so maybe we're missing something but the games have been fun.

Fun to play lots of fun games...only drawback is that there are two disks, so you can only play half the games before changing the disk.

Don't listen to people who tell you that this game is gimmicky and unfortunate, like most other Sonic games. This is a hedgehog of a different color.

Taking the best elements of Sonic Unleashed and of recent outings like Sonic 4, this game is all about speed, with Sonic taking advantage of the power of the alien wisps to traverse beautiful alien landscapes in a frantic platforming adventure.

The alien powers come in different colors, each one granting Sonic a useful ability. Most of them, with a few exceptions, are fun and keep the game fast and furious, as it should be.

The farther into the game you get, the more of these alien powers you earn. These can be used in previous levels, creating a fantastic replay value, allowing you to traverse levels in a number of different ways.

Sonic doesn't dissapoint this time, this game is pure fun. Aside from a startling number of cheap deaths and strange physics, this game is a solid effort by Sonic Team. Despite it's kiddy premise and storyline, there is much more to this game than meets the eye, and a more difficult, hardcore game can be found beneath the surface. Beautiful graphics and clever gameplay keep this game a step ahead of the previous Sonic disasters.

Sonic Colors is a fantastic game and is extremley inventive and colorul. I commend Sonic Team's efforts, this Sonic isn't as slow as the others, and I give it only my full reccomendation!

(Wait, was he ever gone?)

Sonic Colors has superb controls awesome levels excellent music ('cept Asteroid Coaster) stunning graphics (for Wii) but the story is silly and the voices are off but there is SUPER SONIC in the MAIN LEVELS!!!!

All right, I'll now decipher the above sentence. First of all, this game proves that Sonic the Hedgehog games still can appeal to a wide audience of gamers. I mean, the professional critics are running out of stuff to pick at! Myself, I am an enormous fan of Sonic, and have played nearly every game he has ever starred in, own and have read nearly all his hundreds of comic books, and watched almost every TV show of his. Obsessive? Maybe, but come on, he's "Way past cool"! (Comics fans will know where that came from) Now, I'm in a strange position, however, because faced with the game that so nearly reaches perfection, if find myself unable to give it five stars, even though it has far fewer flaws than Sonic Unleashed(which I rate a five). But let's get on to the game itself, and compare its many aspects.

+ Controls? Spot-on accurate. Sonic moves when you move the joystick, he jumps when you press A. There's no twitchiness, no lag, no headaches. The camera is fixed, but it's fixed in the proper location for each shot. This game also has a complement of several power-ups. They come in the form of aliens endowed with "Color Powers". One transforms Sonic into a drill, another into a laser, and so on. They make the game have immense replayability, as many areas are unreachable until certain power-ups are unlocked later on in the game.

+ Level design? Beautiful, fast, challenging, and yet intuitive. Did you want a 3D Sonic with levels in the style of the Genesis Classics? Here it is. Over the years Sonic Adventure always seemed to me to be the most like the originals in level design, but Sonic Colors ----if it was transformed into 2D and given 16-bit rendering---would not seem out of place in the slightest. They are expansive, there are multiple pathways throughout them, and their artistic flair, coloring, and details are incredible. And finally, SEGA has given us a game where Sonic can adventure under water! Sonic Adventure is the only other 3D Sonic game where this is possible ----and that came out in 1999! I think a lot of fans have waited a long time for this (I know I have!), and Sonic Team delivered. Plus, if one presses the jump button repeatedly while underwater, Sonic can actually swim upwards! Yes, for those who care, this kind of messes with the whole "Sonic can't swim" backstory, but it makes the game a whole lot funner. Aquarium Park represents the pinnacle of this game's achievement, in my opinion. The soft twilight lighting, the elaborate detail of the Asian pagodas and buildings, the blue-domed sky, the majestic yet haunting beauty of the lumionous sea creatures in the dark water ----oh, it's magnificient. One of the best zones in all of Sonic history, and probably platform gaming! One must also not fail to mention the inclusion of the classic "badniks" from older entries into the series. To see robots like "Crabmeat" and "Buzzbomber" in a modern 3D Sonic game lends such a classic authenticity to the title, reminding me of the Genesis originals and the excellent TV show Sonic The Hedgehog The Complete Series ("SatAm"). In addition to all of this single-player extravagance, there is an excellent two-player area as well. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (2001) was probably the last main game in the series to have a multiplayer aspect that was worth playing. Sonic Colors has a whole zone called "Sonic Simulator" where two players can race each other to the finish with multicolored "Sonic Robots" or their Mii avatars. The levels are simple, with players pretty much traversing paths through worlds of few colors and backgrounds composed of floating shapes, but this allows the graphics to remain top-notch without succumbing to framerate slowdown. The music is remixed versions of the main levels, rendered in "retro" video game fashion. Players can help or hinder each other, and the competion encountered while playing can be hilarious. The Boss Battles are some of the best in the series, mixing speed and agility in a gripping balance. Some of the early ones are pretty easy, but by the end of the game you will definitely find yourself challenged.

+ Music? Memorable, pleasant, well-orchestrated, and vibrantly detailed. Aquarium Park (there's that place again!) holds top honors; Terminal Velocity guards the bottom of the barrel position.

Tropical Resort has a sort of surfer theme to it. It is fast paced and fun, with a steady beat and a great array of guitars that are not screaching out heavy metal riffs.

Starlight carnival goes a more techno route, and yet is very upbeat and happy ----exactly what one would like in a carnival.

Planet Wisp has a beautiful theme based around a piano. Its soft and thoughtful, somewhat melancholy, yet pretty in its own right.

Sweet mountain is one of the weaker entries here, yet it is still entertaining, what with its mix of 1940s trumpets and early 1960s guitars. Its not entirely memorable, but it's not grating.

Aquarium Park. Heart-achingly stunning! Piano! Violins! Soft yet steady drums! Electronic synthesizers used to perfection! Just thinking about the music makes me want to cry with happiness. It has an Asian-styled theme that is mournful at times, optimistic at others, and always beautiful. These tracks alone would justify buying the soundtrack (which comes out in Japan late December. Check out amazon.co.jp if you are interested). One of my favorite bits of video-game music. Huh, it's one of the best pieces of music I've heard this year.

Asteroid Coaster jarringly shifts into rock, which in a game this artistic in approach felt quite jarring. It has a distinctive pattern running through it, but it just feels lacking compared to the other music here. Even as rock goes, it was not quite fantastic. About the only person who can pull off rock in a Sonic game is Jun Senoue (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Heroes, etc.). A lot of his Sonic music may be on the harsh side, but at least it is memorable and about as "epic" as rock can get. The music here was just kind of bland and irritating. But things can always get worse...

....and they do in Terminal Velocity. Take all of the complaints lodged above (note "bland") and apply that here to the bland whines of this level. Did I mention bland?

+Graphics? Probably the best on the Wii. At times you could mistake this for a PlayStation3 game. Of course on closer observation one could note their error, but "closer" bears key importance here. The imagery is really that good.

Here come the problems with the game.

-The story is really pretty light. Basically, the evil Dr. Eggman claims to have given up his evil ways, and to prove his good will he has constructed an enormous amusement park in outer space. Sonic figures it's just a scheme for power, and of course he's right. Sonic and his friend Tails the two-tailed fox go up to space to investigate. They find that Eggman is using his park as a means to capture a certain race of aliens called Wisps. He intends to use their power to fuel a mind-control ray down to Mobius, the world where Sonic lives. While this premise sounds reasonably threatening (and somewhat comic-book-like), it is executed as a comedy. Is there anything wrong with that? Not really. But it just seems to miss a bit of heart. When I think of Sonic the Hedgehog stories ----whether it be in video game, comic book, or cartoon form---I think of comedy, but the overarching memory is that of a story that really was gripping in an emotional sense. Sonic Advenure 1 and 2 are prime examples of this. Their storys could be transferred directly to the big screen and few would scoff. Sonic and the Black Knightwas imaginative and sad, but had a powerful message. The story in Sonic Colors is about as "epic" as its name (translation: it's not!) Yes, this is a game. Yes, it's a platforming game. Yes, stories are not really integral to this kind of game. But a great story doesn't hurt. This story wasn't bad, but it was just filled with jokes. Non-offensive, thankfully, but just puns and slapstick and childish humor. In many ways it resembled a story one would find in a Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destructiongame(except that, as mentioned earlier, the jokes in Sonic Colors are not offensive). The voice actors for all but Dr. Eggman have been changed. For those new to the series this has little impact. Some familiar with the series will find this welcome. Yet I do not believe I am alone in missing the old voice of Sonic and his friends. This is really getting into minor impact territory, but it still has an impact.

-Semi-minor annoyance: In every other Sonic game, when the player collects one hundred rings, they are granted an extra life. I believe this is the only game in which this is not true, and its absence is sorely missed (especially on those challenging levels!). Here's hoping this is just a one-time event.

-The difficulty is often rather low. Not that that is a bad thing, as this game was designed primarily for younger children. Sometimes though, a little extra challenge would have been nice.

-The game is kind of short. The story mode can be beaten in a day. Even to go back and collect the bonuses does not take very long. I and my siblings have been playing this game since it came out on Nov. 16, and as of Nov. 23 we have finished about 75% of the games side missions.

All in all, this game is highly recommended, and is a brilliant revelation of the fact that SEGA has learned from its successes and failures with the franchise.

It's not the greatest Sonic, but its a high-ranking title in the series.

P.S. ----Did I mention that you can play Super Sonic in the main levels? That is AWESOME! When all of the 180 special rings have been collected, and all of the Sonic Simulator levels have been completed, Sonic can transform into his invulnerable, superfast "Super" form. You can go back and replay any of the main levels in this form (after collecting 50 rings in the level). This game is the first 3D Sonic game in which this is possible. It brings back so many memories of the Genesis classics! A brilliant move that was well worth the wait.

I've been a fan of Sonic since the first time I picked up Sonic the Hedgehog on my Sega Genesis. Unfortunately, he's tested my will for the last several years with some horrible 3D efforts.

Sonic Colors, surprisingly, gets everything right. As I played through the game, I couldn't help but anticipate something wrong to happen...it was just too good to be true. This time, they throw in some aspects new to the series, in the form of small aliens called Wisps that give you different powers. These are a fun addition to the series, and allows for much more creative level design without slowing down the Sonic speed that we play the games for.

The story is mostly standard, cutesy Sonic fare, with the welcomed addition of some honest, self-aware humor from Sonic Team. The graphics are some of the best on the Wii, in both character and level design. Like the name says, the colors and lighting are gorgeous on this game. Even the sound is good...the voice acting is actually pretty decent!

The biggest plus is the gameplay, which unsurprisingly, plays a bit like a faster Super Mario Bros game. The controls are tight, and the level design is nearly perfect. Sonic still moves fast, and this time it's actually fun to control. There's about 12 hours of gameplay through the story, and a lot of incentive to keep playing to find the challenging red rings in the levels. The game suddenly hits you with a big difficulty curve. I had quite a few moments of frustration that nearly killed the entire game for me. We're talking serious wanna-chuck-the-controller-into-expensive-television moments.

Pros: Great graphics, level design, and gameplay.

Cons: Steep difficulty curve, some menus look very thrown-together.

In conclusion, this is a great game I'd recommend to new gamers, and experienced veterans alike. It's the first Sonic game of the last three years I can honestly tell fans of the series to go pick up.

Honest reviews on Sonic Colors - Nintendo Wii

It's hard to believe that I was a wee young lad of eleven years when "Sonic Adventure" was released for the Dreamcast to all the hype and excitement Sega could muster. At that age, I really did not care to slow down and notice the bugs, glitches, and terrible design choices that riddled the game I was too busy running fast and standing in awe of what might have been the most impressive graphics of the day. However, the game certainly has not aged well. Enter sequel after sequel of bad 3D hedgehog platformers that required the patience of Mother Theresa to play. Does "Colors" follow the trend, or set Sonic back on his speedy path?

The latter, to a certain extent. "Colors" is definitely a step in the right direction, and the game very much reminds me of those moments in the "Sonic Adventure" games when they fired on all cylinders and gave us healthy doses of speed. Thankfully, many of the issues that plagued the earlier games are fixed here.

Let's start with the story. Well, let's call it a premise, since there's very little plot development here (a good thing). Dr. Robotn excuse me, Eggman has built a giant multi-planet amusement park under the guise of being sorry for his past misdeeds. Sonic pays a visit and finds a bunch of aliens called "Wisps" being enslaved by Eggman for the purpose of powering a gigantic death ray. That's it. No deathly serious tales of anthropomorphic hedgehogs and humans sharing disturbing emotional attachments. No amnesiac biological experiments serving under demonic alien masters. No overweight felines searching for pet frogs. "Colors" is all lighthearted and self-aware Saturday morning cartoon fare, and while it's rather kiddie in its approach, the delivery is more than passable. Sonic is more of a lovable idiot than a gnarly 80s snowboarder with serious 'tude, Tails sounds like a boy for once, and Dr. Eggman is, well, Dr. Eggman. Animations are smooth, and cutscenes are (mostly) well-scripted.

The graphics on display here are great. Even at 4:3 and 480i, colors are vibrant, textures are smooth, and the environments look great. However, I have encountered one area in Sweet Mountain where, upon using the drill power, the frame-rate took a significant hit, to the tune of around 10-20 frames per second. Some occasional slow-down is acceptable, but in this case, it altered the playability of the game. Likewise, the sound effects are good. Everything sounds about how a Sonic game should be expected to sound. The music here has been dialed back from the pseudo-speed-metal of previous entries, favoring a fast-paced pop-rock soundtrack. Preference is key here, as the soundtrack is decidedly fitting, but I actually somewhat miss the "cheese" factor of the music from previous games.

Gameplay is primarily where the game stumbles. I have a high tolerance for gameplay issues (after all, I actually enjoyed the admittedly terrible "Shadow the Hedgehog"), but when the gameplay is so polished in much of "Colors," the rougher portions stick out like a sore thumb. Sonic controls very tightly, as long as he stays on the ground (or under it, for that matter). Rail-grinding, a staple of 3D Sonic games since "Adventure 2," is simplified to the point of becoming superfluous. The fully 3D parts of the game are handled well for the most part, but they often lose their momentum by virtually playing themselves (almost half of the impressive-looking Starlight Carnival, Act 1 plays completely free of player input). I recognize that much of the "Adventure" games had similar sections, but they are not as numerous and as long-lasting as those in "Colors." What little gameplay is here is actually excellent, and causes me to wonder why these sections of true 3D gameplay are so few and far between. Instead, "Colors" ends up being a side-scroller with 3D sections allowing the player a break from the action. Perhaps Sega was, for once, being a bit too conservative in their design choices here. Fortunately, transitions between the two perspectives are smooth. Jumping, on the other hand, is a different story. The control is passable, but it is far from tight. I found simple 2D platforming action to be a chore, and some environmental challenges such as the candy swings in "Sweet Mountain" were downright frustrating. The frustrations are few and far between, though, and Sonic's controls are improved tenfold from previous games. Thankfully, the camera shoots the action from appropriate angles and rarely, if ever, gets stuck or blocks something important from view.

Environment design is fantastic, but level design is a different story. It's not bad, it's just not great. The introduction of multiple pathways utilizing the different Wisp abilities is certainly welcome, but nothing here is particularly memorable. In the "Adventure" series, Sonic escaped a killer whale that demolished the very bridge he ran along, ran straight down the side of a building while dodging obstacles, snowboarded down a steep city street, and boarded a rocket launching towards space. While everything else in "Color's" is much more polished, it seems to lack any true "Wow" moments (at least, until halfway through the game, where I am now). Design is just a little boring and a little generic. Likewise, level length is woefully unbalanced, with one mission taking a full six or seven minutes to complete on an initial run-through, and the next taking fewer than forty-five seconds. Much to the game's benefit, however, there are numerous routes and secrets through levels, and the speed-and-ring-count ranks are back (from best to worst: S, A, B, C, D, E). There are also forty-four stages, each with 5 red rings to locate, so there is plenty of game here to keep the player busy. Some aspects of exploration simply feel a bit forced, and trimming the fat could provide opportunity for adding a more cinematic quality to the game.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on "Colors," but after so much disappointment, I have to compare "Colors" to the blue hedgehog's troubled past. The results are promising but not altogether convincing. This is no "Super Mario Galaxy 2," nor is it a "Shadow the Hedgehog." But as a gaming icon, Sonic's future looks much brighter with "Colors," and, when it comes down to it, the game rarely stops being fun. I fear that previous disappointment, as well as the game's silly story and cartoon-like presentation, will land Sonic's appeal squarely in a much younger demographic. However, Sega obviously realizes that older fans such as myself have had their patience tested and their nerves tried for a decade now. Perhaps the focus toward tenand twelve-year-olds could salvage the beaten mascot's image for a new generation of gamers. Still, there is quite a bit of depth here worth the cash, even if blood, guts, and guns is your thing. Wholeheartedly recommended to families, and cautiously recommended to older gamers. Just don't let me convince you to purchase this platformer if you have not bought any of Nintendo's chubby, red-hatted plumber's Wii titles, especially "Super Mario Galaxy 2."

Ten-point scale: 7/10 Good

Pros: Sense of speed, excellent graphics, decent sound and voice acting, simplicity of control, multiple paths and secrets encourage exploration, replay value, "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" style 2-player mode.

Cons: Somewhat boring level design, unbalanced level length, mid-air control is slippery, too little genuine 3D action, plays itself entirely too often.

Sonic Unleashed, 2008's 3D outing for the Sonic franchise, was a mixed bag. While the daylight

levels were well-made and fun to play through (sometimes), the Werehog levels were tedious and

ended up making me quit before I finished, something which I almost never do with a game. Adding

in the pointless medal-collecting in order to progress, a poorly-taken cue from the Mario

franchise, and keeping the awful voice acting which diehard Sonic fans (myself included) had

to grow accustomed to, Unleashed was a baby step forward, but two leaps backwards. But finally,

after 15 years of decent (Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes) to mediocre (Shadow the Hedgehog)

to god-awful (2006's Sonic the Hedgehog) 3D entries, Sonic Team has finally gotten their act together

and given us what they've always promised: a truly great game. Enter Sonic Colors for the Wii.

Gameplay: A+

Imagine the good old days of the Sega Genesis Sonic, spliced with finely-tuned 3D mechanics,

coupled with amazing power-ups that turn seemingly-predictable levels on their head. That's

just a hint of what Sonic Team has done with Colors. While other 3D Sonic games have failed

at finding the balance point between speed and accuracy in the controls, this outing finally

makes maneuvering Sonic a blast and not an irritating game of trial and error. As for

the powers you acquire as the game progresses, which seemed to be the most dreaded feature

of the game, they're nothing less than stellar. Each one works exactly like it should, and

as you get more of these abilities, you'll find yourself replaying levels, if not whole worlds,

to uncover secrets you may or may not have noticed the first time around.

Story: A+

Yes, Sonic games have stories. And even for the lesser entries, the one complaint I've never

had were with the plots (well, except for Sonic Heroes; I don't what was up with that one).

But despite the overall quality of the plots, the dialogue and little things in between the

major story points were always pretty dull. And THIS is where the writers of Happy Tree

Friends and the fantastic game MadWorld come in. Every little cutscene is laced with gut-busting

one-liners and fast exchanges between Sonic and Tails, and the plot itself has a lot of nice environmental

overtones. Robotni-... I mean, EGGMAN, is trying to capture cute little aliens and turn them into

fuel for his intergalactic amusement park, which he intends to use to take over planets. While it's

admittedly simplistic, I have to give the writers kudos for drawing comparisons to our current

climate and consumption issues. Of course, there always is the possibility that I'm reading too much

into it, so you may have to decide for yourself. But there's no denying that the writing in

this entry is snappy, fun and entertaining.

Graphics: A+

Every world springs to life on the stage with vivid colors, from the bright neons of the Starlight

Carnival to the soothing ripples of the Aquatic Park. If you think you've seen the best

graphics the Wii has to offer in a third party game, well, think again. Every little processor of

the system is pushed to it's very limit, and shows that the Wii still has a quite a bit of

life left in it, and also serves as a nice middle finger to the graphical snobbery offered by

the 360 and PS3.

Sound: A+

The first thing you'll notice as soon as the first cutscene begins is that Sonic no longer sounds

like a jock, and Tails no longer sounds like an infant Justin Bieber. Yes, these are the new

voice actors we've been hearing so much about, and quite frankly, I think they're the best

the franchise has ever had. No more wooden dialogue, no more awkward silences, no more

cringe-inducing exchanges, no more missed lip movements... everything about the voice acting

is flawless. And the music, the sweet, sweet music, is a perfect balance between retro chic and

current synthesizer technology, paired with fast beats and dramatic orchestral flair. So, yeah,

it's good.

Overall: A+

A joy to watch, a pleasure to hear, and a thrill to play, Sonic Colors reminds us why we've

kept giving this old blue hedgehog a chance over the years: because when given the right

opportunity, he can compete with the likes of Mario and Nathan Drake. There should be no

hesitation when you go into the store to purchase this game, because for the first time

in fifteen years, you can be confident that what you're buying is a great game. Thank

you, Sonic Team and Sega, for keeping true to your promise this time around.

If you are deciding between Tiger Woods 2004 or Links 2004, I will tell you the differences.

GAMEPLAY:

Both games are set up very nicely. Both have the great analog swing. The only problem with Tiger Woods is once you have your player stats maxed out it becomes unrealistic because your drives go 370 yards consistently, which makes the game too easy. Links, it takes awhile to max your stats, and once you do its still realistic, meaning you'll need a good drive and good second shot to make it on the Green in 2 on a par 5. As far as putting, Links has Tiger beat by a huge margain. On Links you get a nice chart layout and the analog putting feels so real. On Tiger it gives you a caddy tip and the grid really stinks. To spin the ball, Tiger still has the arcade feel where you spin the ball after its hit. On Links you choose the spin before you hit it, just like in real life.

ADVANTAGE: LINKS 2004

COURSES/GOLFERS/ITEMS(UNLOCKABLES):

Tiger Woods has a ton more courses, compared to only 9 on Links. Tiger also has a lot more PGA Golfers on the game, like Tiger, Vijay, Daly, Furyk, and more compared to Links 3 golfers. Tiger Woods has THE BEST create a golfer ever!!!! Links you choose a player model and change his clothes. In Tiger you can create your player (identical to you!) and have all kinds of unlockables to fit to him including clubs, shoes, gloves, hats, etc. There is just so much.

ADVANTAGE: TIGER WOODS by far!!

CAREER MODE:

In Links you play in a series of Tournaments to earn cash to buy attributes. In Tiger you can play through an entire "almost real" PGA Tour season with the real events, like at Kapalua (the Merceds Championship) starting in January in Hawaii. Also included are the 4 majors, just named something different. This gives Tiger a major advantage as far as replay value.

ADVANTAGE: TIGER

OVERALL:

Tiger Woods has a ton more options, courses, golfers, unlockables. The gameplay is a little more unrealistic (not like Mario Golf or Hot Shots Golf though) and the putting is not as good as Links. The create a player and career mode is awesome.

Links has the better gameplay but lacks the options and unlockables cool stuff found in Tiger. The gameplay is so much more realistic than Tigers though, and the graphics are better.

If you are looking for a game with better gameplay and don't care about the options, get Links. If you are someone who loves the all the good unlockables and true PGA Tour season play, get Tiger.

I must first say that the create-a-player is by far the best one I've ever seen on any video game. So if you're like me, that's a huge selling point. You can customize everything on the guy, down to their socks and bling-bling earrings.

Gameplay is really quite easy to learn and quite easy to be good at. This may be a problem for some of the purists/realists, but for people who just want to pick up the game, play and be good, it works well. Unlike real golf, the gameplay isn't frustrating!

But what is agonizingly frustrating is the putting. You get virtually no idea of what way the green is going. All you have to go by is the Caddy's Advice, who tells you to aim 2 feet left and 3 feet long. How far is a foot? I have no idea! It's usually just pure luck if you knock down a put of any distance.

I think the old "Golf" game on Nintendo had a better putting gameplay (and that was 15 years ago).

If you can get past the putting, this game is great fun. The career mode seems quite lengthy and will probably keep me entertained for hours upon hours. I'd recommend this game for my money.

The programmers at EA Sports have out done themselves: I must first say that the create-a-player is fantastic. It is fun to make your player as normal or as bizarre as you want. You can customize everything on the character, from their socks to the bling-bling.

Gameplay is really quite easy to learn. For people who just want to pick up golf,it can be good experience. Unlike real golf, the gameplay isn't frustrating!

Putting can be a challenge. Once you do it a few times, you can get the hang of it.

Your character can quickly earn money and endorsements. It lets you unlock different aspects of the game from favorite golf holes to different clothes to purchase.

FUN FUN FUN! This game is great fun. The career mode seems quite lengthy and will probably be entertaining for hours upon hours. I'd highly recommend this game. After I wear this game out, I will buy 2005.

Honest reviews on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 - Xbox

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 has its greats and it has its downers. The best thing about Tiger Woods is the create a golfer mode. It is the best out of every game where you can create a player. You can go from choosing your complexion to changing your eye set. The great create a golfer mode is why people love this game.

As for the modes, you can play a PGA Tour season, a World Tour where you face a bunch of real and fake golfers and get cash if you beat them. You can also play scenerios, where maybe you have to make a very long putt to get a better putter.

As for the gameplay, your left thumbstick is like the backswing and downswing of your club. If you swing the stick staright up and down, you will hit it straight. If you move the stick accidentally in other directions, you will hit it into the rough.

But, just like real golf, the putting is impossible. You dont take a full swing. The caddy advice says to aim it maybe 3 inches left but it is very frustrating.

Overall, Tiger Woods is a good game. With extras like getting sponsors like Nike and Adidas, you could select any club and get money. Tiger Woods 2005 will probably be better, so try that one out before anything.

The game is way too easy. It is very difficult to miss a fairway. Chip shots stop unrealistically quick. Putting simple as well. Graphics are great though. A good looking game but not realistic.

Microsoft batteries at 1/2 the price that you would find them for in the store. Can't beat it, and I will definitely be back!

I couldn't find these in the stores anywhere, so I settled for a Komodo brand. It specifically says for Xbox 360. The quick charger wouldn't recognize them, and neither would the play and charge. They are only a buck cheaper than on here, but what good are they if you can't even charge them!!! I won't make that mistake again. I'm going strictly for Microsoft branded gear. I'm so glad I found these here on Amazon! Don't settle for goofy knock-off brands for replacements! Amazon is the best mall ever!!!

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery 2-Pack

These batteries last very long. I game for at least 26 hours a week, I can play weeks without charging my first battery before I need to replace it with the fully charged one. I have the charge and play kit that works wonderful. I am impressed that they last as long as they do. One thing to remember is to let them drain completely before charging that will make them last longer. This is my second set of batteries as well. My first pair I bought when the xbox360 first came out and they lasted me 5 years. Well worth buying these even for the casual gamer. I saved a lot of money on AA batteries.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

I should say I'm an Assassin's Creed fan. I fervently defended the uniqueness of the first game, Assassin's Creed, which was ultimately revealed to be a bit of a mess compared to the stellar Assassin's Creed II. When Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood hit the scene, I initially saw it as a stalling tactic instead of releasing "AC 3", with some multiplayer slapped on, but I ended up loving that one too, and the MP, while needing some execution improvements, was refreshingly unique.

When Revelations finally rolled around, I was actually excited about both learning more of the Desmond/Ezio story and also seeing a cleaner, more user-friendly multiplayer experience. I picked up a copy of the game on Black Friday for $35 and have played the game a good amount, both SP and MP, since. Here are my thoughts, starting with the singleplayer:

GRAPHICS 8/10

Graphics are about on-par with what they were in AC:2, with some improvements in the facial movements during the cinematics. The game still runs the same engine as AC:2 and Brotherhood, so combat and climbing and crowd movement look almost identical. The new city, Constantinople, is different from the Italian cities but I think it doesn't quite show off the graphics like Rome or Florence from prior games.

GAMEPLAY 7/10

As I mentioned, climbing, combat and moving with the crowd is mostly the same as prior games, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. There are some new movement features, such as the grappling claw and (by proxy) the zipline. Nothing to write home about. Combat and crowd have the added factor of bombs, but as some have already pointed out, they are not exactly essential to Ezio's arsenal. 1-2 recipes are all that you'll need for most of the game. It can be interesting to use some of the other bomb types in various scenarios but again, in terms of combat experience, they aren't that fascinating.

The new gameplay additions come in the form of a tower-defense minigame as well as contracting recruited assassins and remotely controlling territory (I believe it's called the "Mediterranean Defense" minigame). These, honestly, I could do without. I liked the mission-style usage in the past game as a way to level up your recruits and score a bit of extra cash while you collected flags/chests and whatnot, but the new minigames just put too much pressure on you to keep up with what's going on. Tower defense is pretty lame; honestly I'd rather just go down on the ground and melee combat my way through attackers. Overall, I can appreciate UbiSoft wanting to expand their game but I would have done without the new minigames.

STORY 8/10

I don't want to give anything away. You'll have needed to play Brotherhood to really understand what is going on. The actual pacing of the story depends on your playstyle, but I myself found it adequate and in the same overall tone and style of the previous 2 games.

SOUND 9/10

Sound quality stays at the usual levels of excellence from the prior games. In my experience the voice actors do a good job all around, and the game's sound effects are solid too.

REPLAYABILITY (SP) 5/10

A low score here shouldn't be unexpected. Replayability from the single player perspective is mostly the same as it was with the prior games. You're free to roam the city, cause chaos, do the minigames and side missions as you please once the campaign is finished. Is it as fun? In my opinion, not really. I'd rather move on to another game, but that's just me; to each his own.

MULTIPLAYER 9/10

Here's where the game moves from a 3/5 star to a 4/5 star. The multiplayer is a great experience. Unless you've played Brotherhood, I guarantee you will not have tried something like this before. The multiplayer is completely unique and mostly involves trying to trick other players. Reflexes and coordination is almost secondary to how strategy and deception in this multiplayer; can you make other players think you are just an NPC (a computer controlled character), while figuring out which of the characters walking around on your screen is your player target? That's the gist of multiplayer and, while I can understand it's not for everyone, I find it to be a blast.

The good news here is the MP is MUCH more streamlined than it was in Brotherhood. There is an XP system much like most MP games these days (MW3, BF3) allowing you to level up and spend points unlocking and upgrading abilities to suit your playstyle. I'll admit there's a bit of a learning and leveling curve; high level players will have significant ability advantages over starting players, but the game can still be a lot of fun.

New MP game modes like Deathmatch, Assassination, and Corruption add even more depth to the multiplayer experience. I bought this game mostly for the multiplayer. If it sounds like it's something you're into, I'd heartily recommend giving it a shot.

OVERALL 7.5/10 (4 stars)

As I mentioned I bought this game for $35. November and October had heavy hitters in the video game world, and this game not only warranted a buy in my mind but the multiplayer has it as the #2 or #3 game that I'm playing now (behind Battlefield 3 and Skyrim depending on my mood). The fact that it can pull some of my interest and playtime given the other games out there should say something about Revelations.

However, I realize that the appeal of this game to me, personally, may not be something shared by all gamers. Would I pay $60 for this game? No. I would, myself, be happy to have paid $45, maybe even $50. For someone unsure about this game, I would wait until a $40 price point. For fans of Brotherhood, particularly of the multiplayer, however, you are probably like me and would be content with a $45 price tag.

I hope my review was helpful. Feel free to ask me any followup questions in the comments section. Thanks for reading!

ACR finalizes Ezio Auditore's last journey in the AC Trilogy.

Individual reviews are very mixed. My opinion is that it's awesome and what weaknesses there are (features that I'm not crazy about) aren't enough to spoil my love of this game.

Some of the issues people have can just be ignored by not using things or altering what you do in the game to counter-balance it.

There are 2 aspects to this game for newbies to AC on the one hand it's the end of a trilogy and since AC is story intensive, it's important to get the backstory to understand what's going on, so I'd recommend picking up the previous 2 games if interested.

At the same time, the Missions and gameplay are not as difficult as previous versions making it a nice intro to new AC gamers less of a learning curve.

NEW ADDITIONS:

The HOOKBLADE for faster climbing, hook and run maneuvers and zooming down ziplines (fun but there are limited ziplines to use & I found myself unable to use some of them during gameplay due to being at the wrong end of them),

BOMBS are alot of fun and offer new applications for strategy during missions. They seem a little intimidating at first, but there are 4 side missions with a Bomb expert to get familiar with them and a mission tutorial on how to make them. It's not hard.

RECRUITING SYSTEM/MASTER ASSASSINS/DENS

This was a great revamp of the Assassin Recruit system. You now have several Assassin Dens and appoint a Master Assassin over each one.

You also get 2 separate missions with each one which are really good.

Also, Leveling up the Recruits is now turned into a relevant game on its own, so it isn't just random mission to gain them XP. It makes it more enjoyable.

STALKERS were a nice addition. They randomly surprise you from behind and try to kill and steal from you.

Yes, Ezio is 51 yrs old in this chapter but he isn't slowed down any, he almost moves faster than previous games thanks to the Hookblade addition.

What I liked most in this game were the excellent missions. They were less restrictive (better 'sync' objectives & less cumbersome) and they weren't long and tedious. Any longer missions were split into 2 parts.

However, there are a couple very difficult challenges, so it's not a complete cakewalk either.

Alot does depend on your skill level.

Some CONS:

The story is good but could have beem amped up to be more exciting, dramatic and intense even though there are some exciting parts in the later missions.

There are less main and side missions in ACR than previous games so it is shorter than others.

The majority of players didn't favor a new feature, DEN DEFENSE a mini game where Templars try to take back your Den and you organize Assassins to defeat them.

It's difficult, confusing and there's a learning curve to it.

However at the same time, they've made it somewhat avoidable so you can optionally work to keep from having to play it.

Level your Master Assassins up to Lvl. 15 which will "lock" the den so that Templars can't contest it.

Or keep your "notoriety" (now called Templar Awareness) low by taking out Officials that appear when it raises and/or bribing nearby Heralds.

High Awareness causes the den attacks.

The last Con to add is that there were bugs and glitches for some people and 1 Patch was just released to address that. I had no problems with my game.

Some missions were cinematic and had an "Indiana Jones" feel to them with high action. That was fun.

Some humor and romance sprinkled in with a now more mature Ezio which was done very well and was refreshing.

It made for a very nice, solid, enjoyable game where I didn't end up wanting to whip my controller into the tv screen.

Soundtrack is great (grows on you as you play), some great Characters, Graphics are well done (though less vibrant in color than ACB) and the City was interesting (there is also Cappadocia which you travel to for some new scenery).

Overall it's a very good game that I will replay often just for the fun of the missions.

Best Deals for Assassin's Creed: Revelations

...even if alot of the other reviewers were less than thrilled. I mean it was a fantastic game that continued this great franchise with alot of in game variety, uniqueness, amazing visuals, great voice acting, and great music that really emerses you in the era of the game. Geez, i guess expectations these days are at an all time high with this video game generation.

Honest reviews on Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Assassin's Creed Revelations (ACR)

Ezio is back for one last hurrah before the third installment of the Assassin's Creed saga. He has traveled to Constantinople the Crossroads of the World to discover the knowledge of Masyaf from Altair's clues.

Pros

Combat works just like always

Graphics are outstanding

They've added bombs

Cons

Just about every extra or mini game was cut

Story is just unforgivably bad for many reasons

Weapons and game in general are nearly identical to previous

Cutscenes lack any familiar faces

Unsure what's happening outside Animus

Gameplay 5 of 10

It's really sad to see this happen to such a standout series, but they fell into the CoD mentality. And in many ways the lack of innovation is apparent in the game. In short, if you've played ACII or Brotherhood this will be a depressing game to play. At least it was for me. After playing for less than five hours you notice a few things that just show a complete lack of effort. First of all, the city is smaller than Rome. Is it like that in real life? Who really knows; but shouldn't it be at least the same size just for gaming purposes? Secondly, there are very few side missions. You have the assassin's guild where you level up your assassins and do imaginary side quests where you can't see what's going on. You have the thieves' guild, mercenary guild and collectables. They removed SO much from what AC: Brotherhood had. Sure it was a little scatterbrained at times, but the gaming value was great because you just had so much that could be done.

Aside from a few minor additions and this "defend the city" mini-game it is for all intents and purposes a large expansion for Brotherhood. If there were a number attached to it I'd say it's Assassin's Creed 2.75. That's right, it's ¼ of a game. It could have easily been a DLC for Brotherhood for $30 in my opinion. Sure it's a holdover for ACIII, but it is by no means worth paying $60 for. Thank God I didn't. Gameplay is the same exact engine from ACII in 2009 for obvious reasons. Combat is literally identical. Purchasing weapons, pouches, shops etc. is all the same. The map is the same, viewpoints same, same same same. What isn't the same is the magic that I first felt when I played ACII. It was the feeling I had when I first played Final Fantasy VII. You could tell they had made something truly brilliant. Instead of being ridiculous and just expanding on ACI, they listened to the critics and fans and fixed almost every problem the game had.

Features and Extras 3 of 10

The only extra I really count is the Animus Island. This is sort of a spoiler but you find out literally the minute the game starts. Desmond is stuck in the Animus and you go through these really weird simplistic platforming levels where Desmond reminisces about his life. It looks like Tron. Why does this not impress me? Because they were so rushed (or lazy) that you don't even get to see the videos from his life he just talks about them as you bounce from platform to platform. And you only have the ability to do basic jump and create walkways. You don't have any assassin capabilities. Gone are the interesting puzzles and historical data as well as almost anything that made the game worth a second play. A lot of assumptions are made by Ubisoft. First off, they assume you've played the game before because they don't even have optional tutorials or the training grounds from AC: BH. They also assume you won't notice they've cut so many things or that you understand the backstory of Altair and Ezio's past. Why Ubisoft, why?

Weapons 5 of 10

There is only one new weapon bombs which you can craft. And they tried to really "blow" this out of proportion like the combat was going to be way different. It's a nice feature and is occasionally helpful, but I find it cumbersome in the heat of the moment. Crafting is a little customized as you can use multiple ingredients for the three constituent parts. Aside from the bombs all the other weapons are minimally changed.

Story 4 of 10

The story is woeful, boring and hard to follow. Ezio is looking for the "wisdom of Nicolo Polo" who is Marco Polo's father. And honestly it's a cobbled together collection of uninspiring cutscenes. Prince Suleiman whom Ezio met on the boat coming to Constantinople is one of four main characters and probably the only one who isn't instantly forgettable. Ezio is in Constantinople for some reason but I have no idea why. I'm not even sure who the main antagonist is yet. This is just another reminder of how this is a shadow of ACII or even Brotherhood. The developers couldn't even be bothered to make cutscenes with Desmond's crew in them. This is because you're stuck in the Animus the whole time? Give me a break. The only redeeming quality to the story is it has one historical figure in it.

Graphics and Presentation 10 of 10

Visually the game is mind blowing. The detail put into every little thing creates a tapestry of beauty that borders on a pure work of art. For an action/adventure game it looks better than anything I've yet seen and that includes the Uncharted series. Every piece of armor has intricate engraving and lighting is lifelike. Textures are detailed even with close up views. The people's faces look so realistic it's hard to describe. Ezio's hair in particular appears to have individual strands. And this is hard to believe because the first game looked amazing at the time. But they managed to build on that and maybe spent a bit too much time on it.

Conclusion Maybe rent

Despite the unbelievably good graphics, it doesn't redeem the slovenly game development that was dropped in our laps. The gameplay is surprisingly much less fun that AC: BH even though it's so similar. To sum it up: the storyline sucks, the extras are non-existent, weapons are almost the same, map is smaller, graphics are better. There's less of everything aside from graphical content. I'm being generous when I give this game three stars as I really think it's closer to two. What is so painful and disappointing is how great the previous games were in comparison to this one. Stay away if you're not a huge AC fan, because this one is a money making machine nothing more. Let us hope that they dust off their keyboards and use the full capability of a multi-million dollar development company for ACIII.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Assassin's Creed: Revelations

I enjoyed my time with AC:R and would recommend it to fans of the series, if just for some of the story content. Still, the amount of familiarity you experience is a little disappointing. You play in a new city, interact with new characters and a "new" story yet I rarely felt that I was doing something that I hadn't done multiple times in the previous games. To put it bluntly, the gameplay is starting to get stale.

Bomb crafting is new to the series and I will be concise. It can be cool at times, but it feels forced and is overall completely unnecessary to succeed in the game, especially considering the vast amount of options you usually have (hiring factions, ranged weapons, calling in assassins). Mediterranean defense returns but once I promoted Master Assassins to guard my dens, I never bothered with it again. "Missions" take only a few minutes and you eventually realize you're spending a lot of time sending your assassins out to do things that don't really affect the game. Den defense never bothered me because I always try to keep my notoriety down (I only had to do one den defense the mandatory tutorial one).

The multiplayer has been greatly improved over Brotherhood, but it still doesn't have that spark that would keep me playing for more than a week or two. There's still a huge amount of potential here, but AC:R has failed to nail it. You also run into the problem of 3-4 people spending every game blindly running around, causing half of your time to be spent in chase sequences. This isn't the game's fault, but it's still annoying.

Overall, fans of the series will probably get their money's worth here. Revelations is my least favorite AC game, but it's still polished and fun enough to earn my recommendation.

The game is definitely better than what most people seem to say about the game. If you're someone who never wants to take your finger off the accelerator like a five year old than I understand why the game isn't for you. This game is very realistic and almost too realistic for video gaming. But coming from me, someone who races cars and understands that paying attention to every detail is everything with racing, I'd say the game is great. Heck I paid next to nothing for this game and I'd say its ALMOST as good as the racing game "GRID" which was one of the best ever made. No clue why people bash the game... Solid game for those who want a very close experience with real-life racing.

I bought this game and its okay, however, the one I got which was new, is extremely buggy. It is forever locking up on the loading screens and sometimes it locks and sometimes when loading the screen is just black but you can hear your car revving up to race and everything, just no picture. Also sometimes while drifting, the game will completely stop tallying points and will have to restart to get it going again. The green drive line flickers at times and sometimes dissapears completely. And I do not know what they were thinking but reverse on the cars in this game is AWFUL! It is faster to just reset the car on the track thats how pathetically slow it is. In comparison to other racing games, this one is not one of the most memorable. I would stick with the real "Need for Speed" games.

this is a fun game, but it does have some flaws. like the drifting, its pretty much garbage.i love drifting, but i dont even play them on this game. the racing is awesome,it gets intense at some points. but if your looking for a more well rounded game, grid is probably better. but if your looking for some serious racing action, go with this game. they didnt really accomplish much with this game except the helmet cam, i would really like to see that in some other games.all in all not to bad, worth the $20 at gamestop.

Faceplates have come a long way for the 360's. This new mass effect faceplate looks great and is good quality. Personally, I loved the game and to me this was a perfect tribute to one of the best titles (if not the best) for the Xbox 360. I love the Xbox, but I don't like the light colored appearance of the console. Using the faceplate and skinz is a quick, easy way to upgrade the look of your console. The art is fantastic and the colors are rich and detailed. Good quality stickers for the sides can be installed easily. They don't rip and you can stick and remove for the perfect fit without losing the adhesiveness. This is a great product for lovers of Mass Effect.

If you're a Mass Effect fan, this is a must. The faceplate makes a regular Xbox 360 look great, but what really finishes it off is the skin that comes with the faceplate in the package. It fits the Xbox pretty closely, and coming from an Xbox 360 Elite owner, the black background helps to hide what the skin doesn't cover. I would wager to say that the regular white Xbox colors would show a little too much. In any case, its a fantastic accessory for any Mass Effect fanatic.

Nice looking item but it is fairly flimsy. Once together you can rock it back an forth about a half inch at the top of the tower. It will hold your headset and looks pretty cool but it could be built a lot better. Just OK for the 20 bucks.

Just because it's turtle beach, doesn't mean quality. The black portion is hollow plastic. When pushing the metal rods into the base, I thought I broke it from the loud cracking sound. It doesn't even sit flush on the desk, one side of the metal bar is raised off the desk. Does it work? Yes! That's why it gets 1 star. It holds my headset. The quality is just down right terrible.

Best Deals for Ear Force HS1 Headset Stand

I picked up this headset stand to take care of my wireless PS3 headphones. This stand isn't as handsome as some of the pricier options out there, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $40 on a stand. Even at $20, I have two complaints about this product. First, it's a bit wobbly. Assembly is pretty simple you just insert the chrome parts into the black plastic parts. But it never feels 100% secure. It's not going to collapse or anything, but there's quite a bit of wiggling if you flex it.

Second, the narrow, upward-curving metal loop that actually holds the headphones will leave an imprint if your cans are made of certain materials. My PS3 headset is squishy leather so the stand's loop actually leaves an imprint on the inside of the headset band. I wouldn't quite call it damaging, but an annoying niggle to keep in mind nonetheless. If I could redesign this product, I would make the loop more gently curved and tighten up the thing's joints.

Honest reviews on Ear Force HS1 Headset Stand

I expected much more from turtle beach I have their PX21 headphones and got tired of picking them up off the floor.

Overall quality of the stand is 2/10.

Looks like a cheap replica and not something serious company should be selling.

To begin with, theres a huge amount of unlockable content in this game. You will be unlocking new costumes, characters, weapons and things every single day you play... for weeks!

This is an awesome addition to fighting games, which i feel lose their replayability too quick.

The new content adds a lot to an already jam packed game.

Theres 30 characters to take through story mode and theres a giant strategy/fighting side game called chronicles of the sword. This side game took me 12 hours to get through. Thats a pretty decent chunk for a side game.

Theres also a decent amount of fun little games in the mode called Soul Arena though some of the games are a bit too difficult.

The thing that seems a little screwy in this game and is its biggest flaw is its AI. This game has no difficulty adjuster so the game is always locked in the same difficulty. The AI is extremely smart, or cheap, and can string together fast moves and reactions that a human opponent cant. Its extremely lame to lose 75% of your life bar to one string of cheap attacks by the computer.

But strangely, even though the computer AI is very good and cheap, there are some basic moves which the computer just cannot block. Want to beat the game without losing a single battle? Pick Sophitia and just keep pressing triangle.

Its very lame that the computer will block and dodge the most advanced tactics but cannot block the most basic move. Its funny to see the hidden final boss, Night Terror, get beat with the most basic attack in the game.

While this game is boatloads of fun and an awesome fighter, it still isnt without a few flaws because of its strange and unbalanced AI. And thats what makes it 4 stars, and not a perfect 5 in my books.

Soul Calibur III is the latest release in a great line of fighting games. The graphics are really impressive, and the character customization adds a great new dimension to fighting gameplay.

There are whole complex back-stories to all of the characters, developed over the game series. You can go into the 'museum' in this game to learn all about that, if you haven't been keeping up with the series. That will help you really understand the interactions between the characters. It's like being a part of a complex, epic story.

The graphics are simply gorgeous. There are pirate ships, where the floor moves and sways beneath you. There are elegant Chinese temples with mosaic tile floors and lovely mountains in the background. You've got renaissance mansions in flames, cages in grimy port towns, and much more. Each environment has moving elements to add to the realism.

The sounds are pretty traditional. Most of it is BASH SMASH YAAAAH! along with the background music, themed to match the environment. I do love this kind of background music far better than games that have rock music.

Gameplay itself has good and bad points. On the good side, there are a GREAT combinations you can learn for your character, so if you are diligent you can come up with awesome fighting sequences. You can learn which combos match well against your enemy's weaknesses and exploit them. On the other hand, if you're more the type that likes to button mash, you can have a fair amount of success with that, although you will get frustrated in the higher level battles.

The game is marked for teens, although it's far more tame than other fighting games I've seen. Many of the females *gasp* actually wear clothing. There really isn't any blood involved in the combat, although some parents argue that little tykes shouldn't see swinging swords and flails at all. There's no swearing.

That being said, the game is fairly challenging, and unlike the previous game, there's no way to set the difficulty up or down. If you play one on one you can adjust the difficulty so the younger person can have an easier time, but for regular gameplay you're stuck with "hard". I find this to be a shame. While experienced players will get along OK, it really would've been nice for new players to have an 'easy' option to go through the game in, to learn the game and have fun. They could always have upgraded through 'normal' and 'hard' later on.

With the customizeable characters and multitude of opponents, you can really replay this game for months without getting bored with it. There are always new combinations to learn and perfect. Well recommended!

Best Deals for Soulcalibur 3 - PlayStation 2

Soul Caliber 3 Circa 2005

GOOD:

Good/Tight controls

Really balanced gameplay

Lots of different and unique fighters

Minutes to learn years to master gameplay

Literally TONS content to unlock such as new Fighters, costume pieces, stages, and extra modes of play

A 3D fighting game that really uses the 3D space (with eight way run)

Three all new characters

All returning characters from Soul Caliber 1 and 2 have their move sets/styles upgraded and slightly changed (in most case for the better)

A nice upgrade over the original Soul Caliber 2, which to many gamers is considered classic

Build your own unique characters

Lots of different modes of play from an arcade type mode to the real time strategy mode

Considered an Instant classic to many fans and many hardcore fighting fanatics

BAD:

Some might say that not much has changed (gameplay wise) since Soul Caliber 2

Have to unlock most of the game content like fighters, stages and items through many different modes of play, which takes time and skill (some people do not have either)

Slight lagging in a few areas

Loading is short but present and when buying items or checking out new content it can be annoying

Saving the game (which happens often while trying to unlock new content) takes a bit of time also

IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:

Has medieval theme, both European and Chinese/Japanese

Not traditional fighting game in the sense that there is no real combos and supers, or even projectile moves

Game has built in quest type mode, where you pick a fighter and complete a number of challenges in a type of semi arcade mode (with story), the end result is you unlock more content and are a better player

Fight with weapons, like a 3D Samurai Showdown type of game or a Tekken/Dead or Alive with weapons

Build your own unique characters (pretty much costume only, you pick a pre-set fighting style) and fight with them in versus modes and Chronicles of the Sword mode, (Lots of the new items and costume parts should be unlock to really get a better selection of costume accessories, not much to pick at default)

New different modes of play like Chronicles of the Sword mode you fight in a type of real time strategy game (using your custom character) which plays out like a tactic game when instead of turn based battling it's fighting game battling, then there is even a World Tour mode where you fight in mock tournaments

Lots and lots of stuff to unlock from new fighters to new costume items for your custom character

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:

Soul Caliber 2

Tekken 5

Samurai Showdown

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

This game is only for Sony's Playstation 2 unlike Soul Caliber 2 which was also for Xbox and Game Cube, note you can still get Soul Caliber 2 for a pretty cheap price and it's a also a great game

This game came with a pretty lame demo disc, which in my opinion neither adds nor takes away anything from the entire over all experience of Soul Caliber 3, although it should be noted that this demo disc has all unlocked content for Tekken Tag, Tekken 4 and Xenosaga (the original)

I am going wish that a version comes to Xbox-360, which would be cool :: Crossing Fingers Now ::

Honest reviews on Soulcalibur 3 - PlayStation 2

SCIII is a very entertaining action/fighting game. The variety of characters and their wide array of battle moves are impressive. Each of the characters possess weapons that have their own peculiarities and specialties. As a result, even though the settings are recycled over and over, you will still be able to fight repeatedly without getting bored. You can use different characters each time you play the game. My advise here is to become competent using one character before moving on to using another. The number of possible attack moves per character ensures that you will always have something to learn. To me, the best feature of this game is that you can also create your own characters and dress them up the way you would like to. The attacks available to your created characters will be determined by the type of weapon they carry.

The one aspect of the game that kept me from giving it a higher score is the fact that the battle program is inconsistent. I agree with some of the comments stating that this is a challenging game. However, there is nothing wrong with that. A challenging game is fun and you get a feeling of accomplishment when you finally make progress. But you do want the game to be consistent. You do want the game to challenge you and force you to master moves. However, the problem with this game is that this idea is applied inconsistently throughout the battles. To use a particular example, let's talk about Talim. I first used Siegfried to fight Talim. I was landing heavy blows, they were connecting, and my button presses were timed properly. Siegfried was executing his moves properly. I was "chaining" attack after attack. Talim was stunned and was taking a lot of punishment. Yet, she would not go down. And then Talim lands one kick and one swipe and the next thing you know, Siegfried was knocked out! I have beaten Talim numerous times, in different modes, using Siegfried, Raphael, Ivy, and my own character. During those many battles, I noticed the inconsistency. It seemed to me like the game responds slowly during some battles, like there was a built-in lag in the battle system. I noticed this when fighting against Talim and Sheong-Mina. My characters were moving and behaving like they were in slow-motion against them. However, they respond and react normally when playing other enemies. It's almost like the game developers chose them to be the favored characters and added a built-in disadvantage to your player. It really isn't the fact that the game is indeed challenging, it's the fact that you are automatically at an unfair disadvantage against these two characters.

I wanted to make sure that I have the right moves and that there was nothing that I was doing to handicap myself. I consulted an online guide. I also bought the Strategy Guide. Following the advice from those sources, I used the suggested moves to keep Talim from getting close. Again, the fact that my character became sluggish against Talim made this difficult. The strategy is sound. Keep a short range enemy at a distance, and use your superior "reach" to do damage. The lag between my commands and the system's response kept me from accomplishing my strategy.

This is a fun game. However, heed what some of the reviewers are saying about the battle system, or AI as one reviewer mentioned. There is that inconsistency, which is almost like a system "cheat". I have a feeling that this is what the other reviewers meant when they said that there is something wrong with the battle system. As much as I like the game, I find that one aspect to be a big negative.

The game allows you to create your own custom fighter. You can actually create a fighter that looks exactly like KOS-MOS (the main character from the Xenosaga RPG series) by using the Type X armor.

I've been a fan of this series ever since I went out to buy a Dreamcast for the sole purpose of playing the first Soul Calibur at home. When SC3 came out, I bought it as soon as I could without a second thought. Unfortunately, this was the first time I was disappointed with the series.

In many ways, Soul Calibur III continues the legacy of the previous titles while adding some innovative gameplay elements and a few new characters to the ever-expanding list. The single player story mode continues the ongoing storyline in a more dynamic fashion than in the past, and the Chronicles of the Sword battle-style mode is a refreshing addition to fighting games. The custom-made character option doesn't add huge variety to game play, but is a lot of fun to tinker with. In fact, I love every addition they've made to the game.

The disappointment stems from a single fact: I am not a hardcore fighting gamer, nor will I ever be. I simply don't have the time or inclination to practice long strings of moves and combos. The other thing that attracted me to the previous games was the scaling level of complexity that made it so I didn't have to. There was a lot of richness and complexity to the game play to play around with, but for those who didn't have the patience to master it there was still the option of playing at a low difficulty setting so as to enjoy the ongoing story and theme of the game. This richness and complexity hasn't gone anywhere the hallmark style of play is still very similar to its predecessors.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to me, they decided to remove difficulty settings from the single player game modes entirely. Not only that, but the standard difficulty setting ends up falling quite a bit higher than what I like to play at. I have not had a single game session since buying it that did not end in bitter frustration at my inability to get anywhere with the late-stage CPU foes. The final fight for the story mode invariably reveals a CPU that can flawlessly pull off a half dozen hits with no chance of blocking or avoiding unless you manage to block the first hit with perfect timing.

I'm sure there are a lot of folks out there who work perfectly well at this difficulty setting and enjoy the challenge of the new system. If you are not the type that likes spending time practicing moves and perfecting combos to plow through the game, though, I can't recommend SC3 at all. All of its technical achievements and interesting innovations can't make up for the fact that it's simply not fun for a casual gamer to play.

Battlefield 4 is one of those games that is truly amazing. Now the time of writing this review BF4 on the PS4 is having major issues but they will eventually get ironed out I can assure you. But battlefield is a game that when things happen your mind will be blown away. I will be the first time I saw building collapse and just the rubble in the wreckage it was awesome and worth the price of admission. Another thing that Battlefield does amazingly well is the sounds the sounds of distant gunfire your team communication and callouts it's just incredible to hear and adds a depth of realism that other first-person shooters do not have. And I bought Battlefield 4 for the PS3 because it was only $10 to upgrade to the PS4 version (a deal which is going on I think until February 2014). And I spent 30+ hours in the multiplayer and do enjoy it a lot.

Battlefield 4 to me has some serious issues in relation to partying up with friends as is not very intuitive and easy to do. Nothing against me is why can't you customize your soldiers loadout or gear when you're not in a game (in call of duty you can do this before you even start looking for match but not in Battlefield). But with these two complaints aside the rest is pretty amazing.

Now want to write this review to let you know that for a limited time I think until January or February 2014, you can upgrade to Battlefield 4 on PS4 for only $10. and really on the next-gen systems is really where you see what battlefield 4 can truly accomplish. And I recommend it highly even if you just want to see some of the most amazing first-person shooter graphics you've ever seen. And for only $10 it's a great price for an upgrade to an amazing game even on an older generation of consoles.

Thanks for reading!

I have never before seen a game so perfectly improve on every issue its predecessor had. I'm not going to compare NHL08 with 2K8 because, frankly, most of the time that ends up becoming more a review of the companies than the product. Instead I'm going to compare 08 to 07, both EA games, and show the improvements in this game.

Graphics:

There is little difference between the graphics in 07 and 08, but that's not a bad thing. One of the main strengths of 07 was, in fact, its graphics engine, which looked beautiful, especially when running it in full hi-def. The models in 08 have a little more detail, but not much. One thing you will notice is how smooth 08 feels, though, as it runs at 60 fps instead of 30.

AI:

Here's the first major change. The AI in 07, both on your team and that of your opponent, was dumb. I didn't mind so much that your opponent AI was dumb, since I play most of my games versus a human player, but your teammates were incredibly stupid. You could have a 2-on-0 break and you might as well deke the goalie yourself, because the chances your player would be smart enough to skate with you were slim. In 08, however, the AI, both on your team and that of your opponent, is really good. First, that of your opponent. Defensemen will challenge you often. You may find that at the beginning of the game you can skate into their zone along the boards and setup, but after a bit they'll adapt to your style and make it difficult, which creates a fun (albeit sometimes frustrating) challenge. Your teammate AI is vastly improved, as well. Your teammates will setup at the point, which is my favorite pass to make. You really get the feeling that you can setup in the offensive zone, which, when you pass the puck effectively there, feels REALLY good. Powerplays now actually give you an advantage, since your teammates setup so well. Your teammates no longer run offsides like morons.

Skating:

If they had only improved the AI from 07, I would have been happy. That was my main complaint about the game. When I read the previews about this game and EA said they revamped the skating engine, I said "meh." Didn't seem like such a big deal, but I was completely wrong. You'll notice it as soon as you start to play, the skating is extremely fluid. You have total control of where your player goes, and it's extremely realistic. It makes it easier to avoid someone trying to check you. Since you can skate sideways, it makes it so you can skate around the blue line without accidentally pulling it back behind the line. Checking was revamped, too, and it's now much more difficult to line up a player, however it's realistic about it. If an opposing player is coming in along the boards you can line him up pretty easily; it's the open-ice check that's become difficult. That's a good thing.

Goalies:

One thing I loved about 07 was that the goalies moved realistically. You got the feeling that they actually were on ice and would slide. There were a lot of complaints about the bad goals in 07, and the were extremely frustrating. Most of the bad goals, however, were not from stupid goalies, but an unrealistic physics engine. I play goalie. It's pretty rare that you make a save and the puck just goes two feet straight up into the air, coming down on your back. Those things happen, but rarely. Typically, if you only get a piece of the shot, the puck will deflect AWAY from you. Of in FRONT of you. More often than not it'll go way out of play. In 07, though, the physics weren't quite right, and so those tough deflections when the goalie would just get a piece of it often led to bad goals. In 08, they didn't really play much with the physics engine, they just made the goalies better. And sometimes it's obvious that the goalie cheated so as to not let in a bad goal (the puck will be sitting on the back of his neck and he'll flop down onto his back to tie it up...without it falling into the net...?). The goalies now cover the post, which is an extremely nice touch. Goalie controls are much easier, now, as you're limited in how far you can move. You can only stay within the crease, which makes it much easier to stay in position. Goals that you score can quite literally come from anywhere; you don't have just one or two options in how you score. So a lot of the frustrating aspects of the goalies last year have been fixed; it just would have been nice to see the physics engine tweaked, as well.

Sound:

Gary Thorne and Bill Clement announce again in this year, and they've added a LOT of things for them to say. They still get a bit repetitive, just not nearly so much as last year. They do have great chemistry, and are not a burden to listen to like some other announcers (Madden, anyone?). One thing I noticed which baffled me is that Gary Thorne (he's the commentator, not the play-by-play...unless I got it backwards) sounds muffled in a lot of the things he says. The things from last year that are recycled sound just fine, but a lot of his new lines literally sound as if he phoned them in. It's not a huge complaint, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Online:

There's no lag. There's no lag!!! Finally you have total control over your players when online. There are new modes, one with team play and one with co-op teams, and online leagues have been added, which is a pretty cool feature since it means I can now play with my brother who lives thousands of miles away. One VERY annoying thing, however, is that the game will freeze here and there when connecting to the other player, and you end up having to reset the game. It's not extremely common, however I'd say one out of ten games will do this. After awhile it becomes frustrating.

I've never really gone too deeply into the other modes of sports games. I like to play the dynasty modes but I never really pay much attention to contract negotiations and the like. What's important to me is that the actual game is fun to play; everything else is secondary. All in all, after playing about thirty games of 08, I can honestly say I have very few complaints. The freezing glitch I'm sure will be fixed in a patch. Other than that it's a great game, and incredibly fun to play.

NHL 08 by EA Sports is by far the most difficult hockey game I have ever played. If you could walk through the previous editions undefeated on any difficulty level like I could, you won't on this one. The AI is amazing, as are the appearances of the players. It is like really playing hockey. There is no speed burst. The goalies know you and how you play. Your teammates play along, go for rebounds, and set up plays. And for once, everyone fights. It is very hard, but a lot of fun.

Best Deals for NHL 08 - Xbox 360

After playing this game a couple days, I can without a doubt say that this game blows last years edition out the water! The look is not very different, but it feels like a totally different game. It's not shootout arcade hockey anymore where you can easily maneuver through dumb as rocks AI and win a bunch of 9-3 games. The skating engine is totally revamped where you can adjust your speed depending on the force you put on the left thumbstick. Passing is much more crisp, and it's easier to set up plays as the computer respects you and is reactive, and dosent overcharge you every second. Last year, setting up a proper power play was next to impossible. The depth of the creation mode is amazing where you can customize everything down to the players chin strap. Graphics wise EA can't be beat (which is primarily why I always choose EA games, the 2k series may have better gameplay for some, but the graphics always look like crap especially for a next-gen system.) Everything is detailed down to which players like their jersey tucked. Practice mode is a nice new feature to hone your skils in many different practice scenarios. The best new feature is the revamped skill stick where you can deke out opponents 1 on 1, which takes a little getting used to. Adding minor league AHL teams are a nice touch as well. My only concern, is that the few times I've played this disc, I've had problems with the game either freezing up, or a popup appearing saying that the disc is unreadable. (I noticed that other gamers on EA's message boards are going through the same thing too, so I dont think exchanging it right now is the best thing, out of fear I might get another lemon. I will wait for EA to address this problem.) Except for that though, THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!!! It's worth the money, lots of fun and is the best, most thorough hockey game I've played in years. Big upgrade from last years edition.

Honest reviews on NHL 08 - Xbox 360

I didn't buy NHL 07 so I can't compare the two, but compared to other hockey games I've played (and I've played most of them) this game has the best gameplay I've experienced so far. The skill stick is incredibly fun as are the one-on-one dekes. The defense is pretty tough so it makes the game challenging and the lack of a speed burst button prevents you from blazing through the defense and hitting breakaways all game. You actually have to cycle the puck in the zone and this aspect of the game is particularly strong. The defense respects you when you have the puck instead of charging at you and trying to check you the entire time. And of course there's the graphics, which are jaw dropping. I have Madden and Tiger Woods for 360, and they both look great on my plasma TV, but NHL 08 takes the cake in my book. Definitely give it a try.

I don't have XBox 360, but for those that do and are interested in purchasing NHL 08' who haven't, don't hesitate! I played this with my boyfriend at his house on his XBox 360 and now I want an XBox! It makes gaming a lot more fun and exciting, especially NHL 08'. The graphics are more realistic, you have control if you play against the CPU. You vs. CPU is good even multi player is good. I didn't find any delays as they are typical in the older versions of NHL when there is too much action going on around the net and goal tenders-not the case this time! The background music is better to listen to. The commentators this time around are right on target. I found with the older versions the commentators would be saying something not even related to the current actions and would cause confusion. Playing shoot out mode is more fun! I love how you have more control on your team players skating/movement and the skill drills are fun too! The skill drills improve your over all playing skill. I recommend this to anyone as I'm very picky when it comes to gaming such as this! Playing this game on XBox 360, makes my PS2 NHL 08' go to the bottom of the list in ratings. Don't think about it if you are a hockey fan and love hockey, buy it! You won't regret it!
