My son saw a commercial for this game and put it on his Christmas list. I was reluctant to buy it due to the lack of critic or even user reviews online. I went ahead and purchased it and we're about 85% through the game.

The game design and gameplay definitely reflects the reduced price tag. The levels and enemies are recycled throughout the game and it is basically a clone of your standard action game format (complete with the played out multiple button push finishing sequence for boss fights). We've ran into a couple bugs with play freezing or certain triggers to proceed in a level not working. You have to start the level over to proceed. However, my 6 year old loves playing the game, so that's really all that matters. It's his first game that is not from the excellent Lego series of games. It has 2 player co-op which is essential for playing games with your kids (or when they have friends over..just have to make sure they can settle on who gets to be Ben 10). It's not terribly difficult and can be pretty forgiving. My son has never gotten "stuck" on a level or fighting a boss.

Teenagers and adult games will probably get pretty bored quickly with the game. It recycles most of your standard action title gameplay and doesn't bring anything new to the table. For younger kids it is a solid and entertaining game and a fun 2 player experience to play with dad or friends.

My ten year old grandson is a huge Ben 10 fan, has been for several years. The shows, the movies, the various iterations of the Omnitraxs. And the games. Good lord he loves the games (he also loves all the Lego games, Little Big Planet, the various Spiderman and Super Hero offerings). He'd been patiently waiting for this release for several months.

Played through it in one weekend, his one word summary was "Good", which was then followed by a lot of expounding about the new aliens, Rook, who the bad guy was.

As he often does, he's played it through a couple more times, both alone and with his older and younger brothers.
