Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I wanted to like this game, I had never tried a hunting game before, this was a new game and came with a really cool looking gun, I really wanted to like it, but I was alas disappointed.
To be honest, the game is okay. Rather than just having a game like a shooting gallery they try to make a story and give some purpose to what you are doing. But in the end, most of the time the game plays like a rail shooter where the actions comes and goes off the screen and you don't have to move about in the game. But like I said you get a story with what is going on in the screen, which can be nice for some. There are some more generic challenges and safari type shoots if you don't want to deal with the story mode (Which you can also skip through).
The hardware is the real failure on this though. You have the gun, but you also have to install a sensor bar on top of or below your television screen, it requires batteries (Not included) and then I believe syncs with the gun. It only has an on button and a sleep timer, nothing else. They couldn't think to put an actual on off switch on this? Then I was excited to use the gun like a real gun and aim down the sights, but the sights never line up with what is on the screen, it just moves the symbol/reticle around the screen. So what is the use of having a cool looking gun what senses your heart beat if you can't aim down the sights? Also I had problems with the sensor turning off randomly. I tried to figure out what was going wrong but the instructions (While written in 8 different languages was pretty minimalist,) offered no help.
So even with limited play modes I was hoping to have this maybe be a fun party game, but no luck. The hardware problems and lack of imagination in using the game means it will probably just stay on the shelf.
If you have any questions about the game or you would like me to clarify something just leave a comment and I will try to answer.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've tried many hunting games on many platforms, but nothing compares to this! The hunting games in the arcades get old after awhile, and the iPhone versions are dull from the start. This, however, is a whole different experience! In the package, you get the game itself, a gun to go with it, and a receiver bar to place above or under your TV. The setup is quick and easy, and you'll be out there shooting in no time. Make sure you take a moment to calibrate the interface first (otherwise you'll have your 10 year old standing on a step-stool so his aim is correct!). After that, you have the option of a basic hunting survival mode and a story mode. Like most people, I jumped right into the survival mode and started blasting away. The gun is amazingly accurate and responsive. The game is challenging without being too frustrating. It is easy to change weapons and reload, though reloading takes a moment, so you should plan accordingly.
After that, we moved on to the story mode. The story itself is pretty weak, but if I want a good story I'll read a book! We found ourselves just skipping the cut scenes after the first couple. As a rail shooter, you don't really need to know the story to play. All you have to do is follow along and shoot or be eaten. You can control your movements along the general path, and you can dodge/roll out of the way of charging beasts. One of the coolest features is the heartbeat sensor. The gun has metal contacts where your hands go, and if your heartbeat is too high, you will not be able to complete certain shots. It seemed silly to me, but when you have to complete a couple of quick and difficult shots while moving, your heart rate does increase.
All in all, this is an amazing game and I highly recommend it! Now I have to go try to get the gun back from my sons so I can have my turn...

Cabela's keeps making this game more and more outrageous. The swarms of animals such as wolves, hyenas, etc. that attack you, are endless, and take away from the overall entertainment of the game. While using the gun, movement can be a bit jerky as well. Decent game, but I wouldn't recommend buying it.Honest reviews on Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 with Gun -Xbox 360
When you play split screen using two players the screen is so small and your position is so close up that it is very hard to navigate. You end up running into fences that are right in front of you because the view is so close. Then when you make it to the look out point your partner is about the size of a pin head. You can easily miss him. This is very frustrating. Also the gun is right in front of you to the right a little so you have to really move around just to see what is behind your gun and then it's too late as the wolves attack very quickly and you die because of lack of sight. I keep saying, while I'm playing, "If this was for real I would have blasted those wolves of the map but I feel like a half blind man trying to sight through the end of a mason jar.Maybe there is view change but for now we only play single player. This is frustrating as a dad since I got this game for more family involvement.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This game has two main ways to play it target shooting ("arcade") or story. That's what makes it cool is that it's virtually two games in one you don't ever have to play the story (which is about a family of hunters who get separated), and still have a lot of fun with the various arcade games. Especially if you're playing two players to compete. Of course, I only had the one gun, so we couldn't play co-op mode.It is a fun game, but it's far from perfect, mostly, and this is a big one, is the fact that for some reason, the buttons have different functions in the two modes. Reload isn't the same function in arcade mode as it is in Story mode, which is just odd. and one is better than the other, so it's very uncomfortable in one mode.
If you love hunting games and don't mind the odd reload function, then this could be for you.
