I love this product, it's amazing. I've used this product for years, and my old disc got ruined eventually. This is a good horse game, you don't have to ride on only the roads, you can explore and do things in your own time. There's no rush, only fun to be had.Friday, May 30, 2014
Buy Star Stable: The Winter Riders - Care, Train, Compete, and Master
Let me start off by saying that I have played most horse PC games out there. I have a hard time finding ones I have not! This one I think is very fun. The horses and riders move very realistically, and the scenery and background noises are good and go with the movements nicely. The eyes of the horses and people are not the most realistic, but other than that the graphics are good. They have lots of different tasks for you to do and more become unlocked as you progress towards the end and the goal of riding in the prestigious Decker Horse Show. However, you don't have to do the tasks right away, you could ride your horse around for game days on end and it wouldn't change a thing, so that is good. Some of the tasks are not even required at all. On the downside, the way the dialogue is presented is terrible. What happens is the words appear on the bottom of the screen, the people's mouths move, but all the sound that comes out of their mouth is jibberish, something like "oosmum." However, I find this quite comical, and not annoying, but that is just my opinion. Also on the downside is some of the events you have to practice on. The required times to finish are very close cut to what is actually possible, and so you basically have to ride at the fastest speed the whole way around the course on some of them. There is not a mystery or anything; if that's what you're looking for in a game I would not recommend this one. But on the whole I think it's an excellent game and well designed, it could just use a bit more of a plot than preparing for the horse show in my opinion.
