My kids caught the commercial for Tall Tales on Disney Channel, and immediately wanted the game. We've already played for a few hours and are about halfway through the Tall Tales cartoons. It's neat how the game takes you through the story for each of Mater's Tall Tales: Mater the Greater, Rescue Squad Mater, Unidentified Flying Mater, El Materdor, Tokyo Mater, and Monster Truck Mater. The game actually uses Pixar's footage for the story scenes, so you get high quality video of Mater and Lightning McQueen. The developers also put dozens of cutscenes everywhere in the game with the same Pixar quality, so you get plenty of time with all the characters from Cars. As you go through the stories, you play party games based on what's going on with the story at that particular time; really cool!
The games themselves are addicting, because anyone can pick up the controller and play right along. You get a huge mix of racing games, shooting games, flying games, and games that take advantage of the Wii controller's motion feature. So far, I've noticed about 10 different styles of gameplay, and we're only halfway through!
So one of the best features in the game is the car creator. You get to make your own car to use as a character in the minigames. You'll earn coins to buy stuff for you car, like new paint jobs, tires and wheels, decals, and even stuff like hats and glasses! There are 5 or 6 car styles to choose from (I picked the sports car). I'm working towards buying one of those huge car spoilers that you see in the Cars movie; the one that the street racing car has.
My kids and I are having a lot of fun with the game, and I think it's safe to say that any family with kids between 6-12 will have a blast with this game. Obviously, it's very safe for all ages, as there is nothing offensive in the game. It's definitely a "must buy" in my book (plus, I'm a Larry the Cable Guy fan, and the game uses his voice in the both the story cutscenes and during the minigames). Hope this helps your decision to buy this one. Have fun!

My 3 year old son is a huge fan of Mater and the Cars world. We got this game last month and he loves it. It is a short game and we beat every level in just a couple of days but that hasn't stopped him from wanting to play it constantly. My wife and I enjoy the games as well and we enjoy playing the game as a family. The game play is simple enough for a 3 year old to figure out and there are visual instructions before each game showing you how to play. There is a lot of variety in the games offered and once you unlock every level you can make your own play list to just play the mini games you like best. I think it's a perfect game for 3 to 5 year olds. Older kids could get a little bored especially if they are not fans of the characters or the Tall Tales Cars Toons.Best Deals for Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales - Nintendo Wii
At first glance, this game has some very positive features, including a variety of minigames and a fun storyline that adds to the entertainment. The minigames themselves work well as they are quite varied and include activities such as putting out fires by moving the Wii wand back and forth or racing away from authorities that are attempting to apprehend an alien companion. Where this game seems to fall short is on length as even if played casually this game can probably be finished in a few hours. After that, you will find yourself competing in the same minigames, which may be fun if played in a group but may not be very satisfying from a single-player perspective. Additionally, unlike the original Cars game for Wii, there really is a limited focus on true racing, and there is no real open-ended racing where one can select differing characters and tracks in which to compete. Overall, this game might be a good option provided one is looking for a group game that is easy to pick up and play in a group setting but for the price tag I would have hoped for more options.Honest reviews on Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales - Nintendo Wii
My son got this for his 4th birthday recently. He is a big Mater Tall Tales fan.He has just started getting his own games for the wii the last few months.
So far this has been the biggest hit with him, and held his attention the longest.
My 11 year old son spent hours playing this with him too and admitted he enjoyed it along with my 8 year old daughter.
I could hear them giggling together enjoying the "show".
Now I can't see my older 2 wanting to play this over and over but it is a perfect fit so far for my 4 year old.

Mater's Tall Tales is a decent game as long as you don't expect very much from it. The games are either very simple or a bit tedious but overall fairly clean and fun.So weather or not you like this game boils down to the following.
If you have kids that love the cars movie and the disney shorts that the game is based on then they will most likely love the game. If you are any older than the age of 10 you will most likely become bored with the games within the week.
The game is easy enough for my 4 year old and my seven year old to play and even grandma and grandpa who never play game console handled the game like a champ.
This is definitely not the best party game out there, but for the younger kids it does a nice job and is easy enough that they don;t get frustrated.
