If you're reading this review, you've probably read some of the other $2 adapter reviews as well and like me were scared off by the horror stories of having to solder the wires in order for the adapter to work properly with the Xbox 360. This adapter does not have any of those issues. I have a 250HDD Xbox 360 S which I run HDMI to a projector 20 feet away. The Xbox itself is down under the screen near a stereo that I wanted to run the audio to. This cable was perfect to allow me to connect the audio to the stereo with analog red and white RCA to the stereo's RCA input. There was absolutely no hassle for this adapter. I just plugged everything in, turned on the Xbox, and it was working perfectly. The price is considerably more than the other knock offs but it won't break the bank and it will work like a charm.

I ordered mine used but it is in great condition. The adapter works as I needed for optical out + hdmi on the 360, and unlike other adapters (so Ive read) I can switch hdmi inputs and not have the 360 restart.Best Deals for Mad Catz Xbox 360 HDMI and Analog AV Adapter for Headsets
But it's not perfect. It does successfully provide both RCA and digital optical audio to use in conjunction with the Xbox 360's HDMI output, but as others have noted, it does indeed cause the Xbox 360 to reset if you turn your TV or monitor on and off or switch the input from another source back to the Xbox. While a lot of people won't be bothered by this, it's a flaw I would say isn't worth paying $20 for. You're better off either paying more for the Microsoft connector which is guaranteed not to have this flaw, or getting a much cheaper version that works just as well as the Mad Catz. It's also worth noting that with the Mad Catz connector, you cannot jump the connectors like you can with the cheaper versions. I opened this up to see if I could fix the resetting problem by soldering some of the connectors, but this version simply doesn't have the metal tabs to solder, it only has them for the wires that are already in place, which actually makes the flaw MORE problematic than with the cheaper versions. The only reason to get this version is if you don't intend to switch TV or monitor inputs while using it, and if you want to get the slightly higher-quality plastic and connectors (for $14-$18 more!). I ended up getting a cheaper version so that I could fix the resetting problem (which I successfully did in about 10 minutes and only had to pay the price of taping the casing back together) and unfortunately wasted the money on this one.Honest reviews on Mad Catz Xbox 360 HDMI and Analog AV Adapter for Headsets
I purchased this adapter after breaking the casing off the original Microsoft SD RGB cable's housing to fit the HDMI cord with the adapter. I wanted to be able to use HDMI to my 5.1 surround system as well as being able to use the Turtle Beach x12 headphones at the same time. Well after plugging in the original Microsoft cables, the headphones worked. The only problem was if I turned off the TV leaving the Xbox on, and later turned on the TV, the Xbox would restart. This would also happen if I switched inputs from Xbox to some other device on my 5.1 surround systemAfter that, I decided to try out this Madcatz Adapter. Thinking since the cost was $20, the problem would not happen. I was wrong! The same problem existed with this audio adapter. The Xbox still resets turning the TV on and off, or switching devices with the 5.1 receiver. After doing some research, this is a common problem with most audio adapters. The only confirmed working one without causing this problem is the audio adapter from Monoprice which is currently backordered while writing this. So if you're having this problem or in the same situation I'm in, I suggest waiting for the Monoprice branded adapter to come back in stock and order from them.
