First things first. Looking at the larger picture of the stand it gives the illusion that it is adjustable. After researching forums before my purchase I found out that it not adjustable, despite the ring in the middle that makes it look adjustable it is not. Even the people at the store I purchased it (a certain game store) at said it was adjustable from looking at the picture, and I had to tell them I read that it wasn't. I can confirm that, because I just assembled it. In the product description it fails to tell you what the dimensions are, it is 24 inches tall. Which puts you in minimum height level for the sensor. Next it is made out of plastic, it feels durable, but I haven't had anyone bump into it yet, it is basically 2 pvc pipes put together. Once you pick up the small box it comes in you can immediately tell from the weight it isn't make out of metal. However now that I think of it, if it was made of metal and it does fall to the ground the sensor would hit the ground harder because of the weight. Maybe plastic would be better. Not sure. So with all this being said why did I rate it 4 stars when it seems like it is all I've talked about is cons.
I rate it high because I knew all these cons before purchasing (with research). I have a 73 inch Mitsubishi DLP and it is on the manufacturer stand in a very large room. The kinect requires you to be about 6 feet from the TV, which is too close with a TV this large (also which happens to be right below my ceiling fan). This stand allows me to move it a couple of feet in front of TV (and away from the fan), and put me in the sweet spot for viewing and playing. It is ideal for large TV's in a big room (it says this in the box). Since it is only 2 feet high, and you are playing the kinect standing in front of your large TV, it shouldn't be in your viewing area. In addition, I like it because the sensor is easily removed by depressing clips, and the stand is easily kept aside when not in use.
Now why did I take off 1 star. It is for the lack of product description on the box as well as the retailers. It should say somewhere what the dimensions are at least on the box. The description also says it is "Weighted, sturdy base with a sleek piano black finish", here on Amazon as well as the manufacturer website, when it is very light, not more than 1 to 2 pounds if not less. So a slight bump would knock it over. On the actual box they replace the word "weighted" with "wide," on the same sentence. Probably because most people wouldn't consider it weighted. In addition there is a slider thing on the portion top of the stand that connects to the sensor that I have no idea what it is there for. It doesn't say on the manual, and its driving me nuts why they put something there and it doesn't say in the manual what it is for. I can't figure out what is for. If you know, please reply in the comments. I would like to know.
Overall, for the same retail price or much less you can buy a foot stool, small table, toddler chair, stack of boxes, that would do the same purpose. It is quite expensive for what it really is, when you can buy speaker stand in a pair for the same price. However, if your like me and want something custom to the product, this works and does the job. Just know what your are buying before you spend the money.

This is a screw together assembly for a total height of ~24". You can however adjust the total height by removing the top 12" threaded pipe (male/male) and coupling (female/female). But I was expecting to be able to adjust it to the full working range of the Kinect... didn't the manual say to mount the Kinect between 2'-6'???Anyway, there are 7 plastic peices.
1) Top base: which uses a quick connect of 2 pinchers to hold the kinect base
2) male/female reducer: male side is about the size of a camera tripod (although I dont have one so I couldn't verify that), female side is the size of a 15/16" gas threaded connector
3) male/male 12" pipe: same 15/16" gas thread connections
4) female/female coupler: same 15/16" gas thread connections
5) male/male 12" pipe: one side with 15/16" gas thread connection, bottom side uses a proprietory connection to the base
6) quick connect wire clip: clips to the bottom pipe, which is slightly larger than the upper pipe
7) tripod base with female insert for bottom pipe: this comes with either 3 rubber pads for the bottom or 3 velcro pads for use on carpet
I went to the local hardware store and bought:
1) two 1/2" X 12" threaded pipes (SKU: 44102)
[..]
2) three 1/2" couplers (SKU: 44884)
[..]
3) two (15/16" to 1/2") couplers (SKU: 46980)
[..]
for $20 and I made the stand taller so I could put the stand behind my TV. There is a TV mount but I dont have the playing space and I needed the kinect about a foot behind my TV, not on top of it.
I gave it high marks because I like the quick connect base at the top which allows me to quickly remove the kinect from the stand for storage.

(EDITED: this review previously contained information that became outdated and incorrect. techmannn, in the first comment on this review, pointed out the problem. Thanks for the correction!)When I first bought this Microsoft was actually recommending that most people put their Kinect right below their TV. Then they changed their minds. Now they say "the higher the better". So, this product is a less than ideal solution. If you CAN put the Kinect above your TV, do so.
Still, though, you do absolutely need the Kinect to be completely stable, either through it being mounted somewhere or by it being on a flat surface that is deep enough for it. It's also important that it be far forward enough that it can see your feet. So, for some people's TV setups, putting it above the TV might just not be feasible. (Granted, I bought this a while ago and there may be newer mounting products out now, but at the time, certainly, there was no immediately apparent way to do it with my TV.)
Nowadays, actually, this stand works out pretty well for me we're now a two-Kinect household: one setup has lots of room to move but has a TV that's seen better days and no proper sound system; the other is pretty cramped for space, but has the good TV and the good sound system. So that second one is pretty much just voice commands and Child Of Eden. Most of the time that Kinect is just on this stand in a corner listening. But it's easy to put in place for proper play and put away again thanks to the stand. The way the furniture is set up in the first setup, I don't need any sort of a stand, but for the second, I still absolutely do.
This product is kind of flimsy and not very stable (I've almost knocked it over once already), but it gets the job done. When I first realized that with my TV setup at the time there was really no place to put the Kinect, I was glad I could just run across the street to Fry's (sorry Amazon, sometimes even Prime isn't quite fast enough) and buy this and get up and running. Someone else mentioned that you could just use a stool or something, but I liked that this product is thin and didn't really block my center speaker.
Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Kinect Floor Stand
The Xbox Kinect Stand is a holding stand for the Xbox Kinect device. The advantage is:
-You now have a separate stand for Kinect Device.
-The top of the stand grips the Kinect device perfect.
The disadvantages are:
-There is no option to adjust height.
When i placed the stand behind my Samsung UN40C7000 LED tv, it fell short of height.
-The stand is approx a meter and half long.
-The three legged base cannot rotate.
So if you have a small Tv stand with not enough space behind then all the three legs cannot be placed stable.
-The stand has a risk of falling and crashing the Kinect mounted on it.

I bought this stand in order to use the Kinect as a standalone device on a PC with the recently released open source PC drivers. First, there's one major disadvantage and that is you have to use both segments in the stand, meaning there is no height adjustment. That said, I am thrilled that they made the top part unscrew and put a standard size hole that works perfectly with your off the shelf tripod. If you don't mind paying $20 to get a Kinect tripod mount, this is an awesome product. The stand unscrews into four pieces that pack up nicely if you need to travel and assembles/disassembles quickly.
