Always runs unless all power removed from unit, no thermostat. Have to plug and unplug usb connector when using console

I recently bought this item, and i absolutely love it! It does what it is said to do. It keeps my xbox cool all day long as i play.Its not very loud and its has a cool green LED light that looks amazing at night.I would recommend this item to anyone on a tight budget, it great,small,light, and very reliable !

My Xbox 360 decided to give me the RROD from CPU overheating. After several attempts, I was able to take an oscillating fan and configure it so that the air was going directly into the Xbox. This worked for a couple of weeks, but no amount of air was enough for that CPU. Browsing the forums, some people said to hang or suspend the power supply so that it could get air as well, or to plug it directly into the wall and not a power strip, as the Xbox may require more power. Suffice it to say, none of those ideas worked. After several weeks, and a new Xbox later, I figured what the heck, and tried to to fix the old Xbox myself.

Cracking it open, I blew out the dust from the heatsink on the CPU with compressed air. This did not completely suffice, I needed something more. Looking at various external fan configurations and prices, the Evercool Xfan seemed to be the ideal choice.

At first I was skeptical, thinking that this wouldn't work, however, the tight fit of the device on the back of the Xbox, coupled with the fact that it uses the Xbox's USB port to power itself made this a winner. The Xbox is kept cool with the Xfan and my son and daughter now have my old Xbox to play their games on. It works by helping the Xbox's own fan to draw heat OUT of the Xbox. I am very satisfied with my choice and purchase.

Pros: Good Fit, USB powered, cool green light on the back

Cons: Makes Xbox louder (fan noise), must unplug after you turn off Xbox (USB port still has power when Xbox is off), must remember to plug it back in when you turn on the Xbox.
