From reading the reviews i want to set people straight. THIS IS NOT A USB CABLE. The Kinect has a proprietary connector that is similar to USB. There are two ways to connect your Kinect to your XBOX. There is one cable that comes out of the back of the Kinect, this cable has this proprietary connector im talking about. If you have an old XBOX 360 you don't have this proprietary connector so you have to use one of the USB inputs, this being said when you do this an extra power supply must be used to power the Kinect. The power supply is a Y pig tail with one end that plugs into the cable that comes from the kinect and the other plugs into the wall. If you have a new XBOX 360 that is Kinect ready then it already has the proprietary connector so there is no need for the extra power supply cable. This being said the extension cable would go in between the Kinect and the power supply cable for an old XBOX 360 and between the Kinect and the XBOX for a new XBOX 360. My understanding why they introduced this proprietary connector is because of power restraints of USB. I haven't heard if it still has length limitations like USB of 5 meters. Even for this cable i thing a price tag of $50 is steep but i buy all my cables from monoprice.com. BestBuy is still selling HDMI cables for $100 so that makes this look like chump change.

This is the only cable that will work with the XBox 360 S Kinect package. You cannot use any other off-brand USB cable (I've tried). So if you bought a XBox package with the Kinext sensor included you will need this cable. The cable works great but it's too short (9ft). I tried to order two and daisy chain them together but it didn't work. So unfortunately my Kinect sensor bar has to always be with 16ft of the console. Bad situtation for a home theater. Thought I would pass along the info so others don't learn the hard way.
