Should you buy this game? ABSOLUTELY. However, take the bitterness in my review with a grain of salt because I played through Origins multiple times to get 1000/1000 achievements 3 times over. My wife and I loved Origins. We were looking forward to this game since it was announced for the Xbox.

After playing all paintings on the first two levels, I must say I am disappointed by a few things in this game compared to Origins:

Lack of a proper time trial mode on levels like the first game. This made the game SO much more fun, and gave the levels more re-playability. I really hope they add this in as DLC or a future update. The invasion levels don't cut it.

Graphically this seems like a step down. I understand they made the jump to 3D, but the sprites in the first game looked and felt like moving paintings. The Legends characters look and move like CG characters, which takes away a bit of the charm.

I miss the flying levels. I understand the point of the new level types (a la floating with being able to shoot your punches), but it really is not the same fun for my wife and I.

I wish there was one more type of character model that was new besides Barbara.

Good things we like about the game:

The lum 'chains', where you have to get them in order to get double the lums (i.e. a chain where the first lum is purple).

Barbara is a great addition for my wife

Sports mode SO much fun

Daily challenges are addicting and fun

More lums per level. I like that there are 600 lums to collect per level now

Minor annoyances:

Mandatory pause whenever the green floating guy is in a level. After 2-3 levels WE GET IT, no need to pause the action for that long without being able to skip it.

I miss that there is no skill progression like the first game.

Difficulty is a bit tougher it verges on annoyingly tough in some spots.

Overall, Origins was 10/10 for me. Legends is a 9/10 for me for the reasons stated above. Amazing platforming action we've come to expect for some time from this franchise, and still has great replayability and needed depth with the wonderful engine they've built with the multiplayer challenge system. There are several minor gripes that ultimately never take away from the charm, but it leaves something to be desired to make it a 'perfect' successor to Origins. Should you buy this game? ABSOLUTELY.

Any fan of artistic color study should be lining up for this one, but that's only where it starts. This game is brimming with creativity and fun ideas in each level, tight controls and a deep reward system to sustain repeated play. Even last night I couldn't put it down and loved every minute.

I've played both the Wii U version and the Xbox 360 version at this point. Here's my take on it:

Get the Xbox version if you want to play this game solo, or if you don't want to mess with the gamepad screen tradeoff. The game works flawlessly with an AI helper that requires you to just hit a button where you would otherwise have a coop player. It does have multiplayer co-op support as well, it's just not the more creative asymmetric experience that the Wii U's version offers.

Get the Wii U version if you have someone who would like to play co op with you and you are up for a new teamplay experience. It can be really fun to work together with one controlling Rayman and the other helping out on the gamepad. This person doesn't need to be a game expert, but to really do well in the later levels, they will at least need to know to act fast as you both work together. You can still play the Wii U version as single player, but if you aren't going to take advantage of the co op play, you may be better off with the Xbox version.

You can't go wrong with either version. I even enjoy this game more than Rayman Origins, though that game is great also, and many of the Origins levels are included as unclockables in this game. This game is an amazing work of art that is gorgeous, fun and full of personality. Buy it and enjoy it, I say.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It looks like Rayman is really creating a successful franchise. This games is very fun and challenging. I love all the characters you can choose to play in the game. It kind of reminds me of Super Mario Bros 2, because of the fact that you can choose different characters. The graphics are awesome for a platform game. It's a great game for people that does not want to spend hours on a game to feel like you made some sort of progress or won something. I usually just play one level and come back later to play another one.

So I definitely approve this game if you like platform games.

Honest reviews on Rayman Legends

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you are looking for a co-op game to play with your friends, this one lets up to 4 play at a time. The mini games are addictive and fun for hours I think we played these more than the actual game. There are a lot of puzzles that you can work on with your friends and family, so it makes for really fun team challenges.

While I am not the big gamer in the house, I picked the game up quickly and had a lot of fun. The big gamers in the house, my son and husband, definitely played it more than me and both say that the game has a lot of replay value. Partially because you can go back in and find all the pieces that you missed which we missed several different things in the first two levels.

I thought that the graphics were cool, the characters were cute and distinctly different. The storyline was fun as well. This is definitely a series I can get into and will be revisiting some of the older games.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program What a beautiful, quirky game! Rayman Legends is a Tier 1 platformer. It looks good, plays good, and makes you feel good. It's so polished, it shines. Everything you'd expect from Rayman is here and then-some. Legends truly elevates the series and will really challenge instead of coddle you. And it's a game for all ages. Your little ones will be fighting you for play time and, unfairly (you big ogre) you'll fight back!

However, there is one huge con to Rayman Legends, so don't say I didn't warn youyou're gonna be hugely sleep-deprived and pretty much useless at work (so go ahead and call-in). Might as well finish what you started!
