Does exactly what it says, so off the bat, five stars. However, getting it to work is a different story. If you use XP with the XBCD driver, you're fine. However, getting it to work on Seven is a different story. A little searching on the internet helps though. I have gotten this product to work on a laptop with XP, Vista, and Seven, so if you have one these OS and if you need this cable, get it, it works. It'll just take a bit of time to get it to work perfectly. Also, I don't know if we're allowed to advertise, however, Xpadder is probably the best gamepad mapper out there, no frills, and its about $10 USD (Much less than any other one, and I've tried many, including Pinnacle, Xpadder is far superior).

But back to the cable, I believe there is a review here that explains how they got it to work. I pretty much did the same thing. Also, this will work for EVERYTHING (in your computer) if you use it in conjunction with Xpadder, you can even control your computer with your gamepad, also no need to change the controls of your game, just map out your controller to have the same controls as your game. This means that you can use emulators, computer games (of course), control your media player, browse the web, even type up a review... if you're clever enough with button mapping. Anyway, I'm straying far off topic.

This cable works. And it works well... if you know how to work it. Five stars. I honestly don't understand why it wouldn't be five stars.

As many people mentioned, if you have Windows 7 installing drivers to actually use this device can be very difficult.

I haven't tried everything. but this definitely works on Dolphin EMulator and ZSNES. Although it seems to use it by this method, you must keep Windows 7 in Test Mode any time you want to use it, which requires a restart to change back and forth between Test Mode and Regular mode.

Instructions for installing and using paraphrased below from the above link:

You will need:

* Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (available here)

* XBCD 0.2.6 (available here)

Instructions:

1. Plug your Controller into a USB socket in your PC

Run the Driver Signature Enforcement Override program, check the "Test Mode Enable" button, then the next button. Restart your PC.

2. Install XBCD 0.2.6

3. Update Controller drivers (Browse your Computer, then Choose to pick your driver from the list. Choose XBCD Xbox 360 Gamepad)

Windows 7 users:

Do not simply search for XBCD on Google as others have suggested to find the correct drivers. You will incorrectly be directed to a version of XBCD that is version 1.07 or something from redcl0ud dot com--these drivers do NOT work!

Instead, get the latest XBCD release (version 0.2.7 or higher) from the VBA-M forums posted by user Squall Leonhart, who created them. After installing these drivers and re-plugging in your controller, it will be recognized automatically. Search Google for "XBCD 0.2.7 Release"

The problem is that two different Xbox controller driver packages are calling themselves XBCD, but only one of them (0.2.7) works with this dongle in Win 7.

This adapter works great. It's feels very strong. For those having problems installing on Windows 7, you can easily enable test mode so the driver works on Windows 7 with "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" and searching "Thread-xbcd-install-guide" on Google yields an easy guide to installing it correctly on 7.
