The repair process was a bit tedious but was doable in a few hours even for an amateur like myself. The only thing I couldn't find in the instructional videos was a part for the reassembly of the xbox, but most of it is pretty self-explanatory and if you really need help you can watch the beginning disassembly part again and do the reverse.
All in all, this repair kit is well worth the $10+shipping as it would have cost me $100+shipping to get the repairs done at Microsoft as my warranty had expired. Also, whereas this entire process (from the day I got RRoD until the day my xbox was fixed) took 3 days (I used 1 day shipping for a little extra money), it would have likely taken 1-2 months if I had gotten the repairs done at Microsoft.

Worked for me first time although I'm not sure how long it will last. The instructions were not always as fully diagramed as they could be, but combined with youtube videos the whole process took about 3 hours for me. This was the first time I had dealt with heatsinks and CPU/GPUs and though it was tricky, ultimately it wasn't too hard.The only thing that the kit didn't include was enough cue tips (cotton buds for Brits); the processors were covered in quite a bit of gunk and so it required around 10 cue tips, and also this kit doesn't come with a case opener, which I used a paper clip for.
For 8 odd bucks and a few hours work I can now play Halo 4.
