Ok the 250 (generic) or any other generic HDD works great...BUT it WILL NOT PLAY ORIGINAL XBOX TITLES. But there is a fix. Go to link and look up the thread "Xbox games dont work selfmade HDD problem" and follow the instructions. I had to do some serious digging to find this out. You will need a transfer cable to hook up to your computer in order to restore partition 2. The program used is "Xplorer360 Extreme2" you must run the program as computer administrator. The Generic HDD's are missing a working partition 2 file which is basically the original XBOX emulator and will not work until you do this. Otherwise this hard drive will only play 360 titles. Its a pretty easy fix but it still sucks you have to bother doing all this. it was hard for me to find the proper info to fix the problem so I hope my review here will at least help people that buy this HDD fix the problem a little easier.

I just got the item today, I plugged it in for the very 1st time, then i got an E68 Error. So I unplugged the console and plugged it back in, and got the same problem, I then removed the Hard drive and the console worked perfectly fine without it. So i plugged it in another xbox and got the same problem.

I was suspicious at first, since it was so cheap. However, with the exception of not being able to directly transfer my personal info from my old HDD to this one (had to use FTP program to my PC) it works exactly as advertised. It is NOT an original Microsoft product, just in case you were wondering, but if you have no information you can't re-download you will never be able to tell the difference.

Very good customer service and fast turnaround of product. At first I got the wrong harddrive so I E-amiled the company and they had me mail it back at no cost and then they sent me my correct one later that same week. Works great so far and enjoying it.
