Pros:

Large roster w/ 35+ characters, several new ones ->Most are unlockable by purchasing w/ rice as currency earned after each stage, bonus given for completing respective story modes

CAW returns so you can customize a player w/ own moveset

New spirit gauge that allows for continuous combos, full gauge+musou=special musou moves

Murasame castle mode w/ online support

Standard Split-screen support for 2 characters

Maps now have objectives and strategies in battle for rewards

Cons:

CAW is limited and you can't max out a created character's stats

Online limited only to Murasame castle, cannot play in free mode or story mode so limited maps access

Not all characters get a unique story mode (Though most do, all new ones do)

"Demons" of Murasame castle are just soldiers w/ different colors and auras

Overall great game, lots of replayability w/ large roster and each character retaining a unique moveset. Murasame mode is a nice addition, but stages are generally very short initially. Some equips are exclusively unlocked in Murasame mode so it's worth playing. All characters equip own weapons but armor, bracers, shoes, and mounts are shared throughout and are upgradable through gems earned in combat from objectives or slaying officers, no more buying upgrades.

I greatly enjoyed this game. The English-Japanese voice over option was quite nice. (Partially because I am learning Japanese and partially because one of my favorite Seiyuu, Nobuyuki Hiyama, was the voice of Masamune Date. ''''''''').

Another wonderful thing about this game was that it was available for the Wii. Very few good games are on the Wii nowadays. If I want to play Dynasty Warriors I have to dig out the PS2. And forget about the new games coming out on the Xbox, since I don't have one of those. I am also sore that Warriors Orochi isn't on the Wii... >.<

The controls are well set up, even for the Wii-mote and nun-chuck. The characters are vivid and the graphics are the best I have seen in a long time.

However, there are a few concerns...

First off, this specific title ruined the pre-established relationship between Noand Nobunaga. According to the first game on the PS2, it was a far more sadistic relationship then what is portrayed in this title. I am not sure whether this is because the first game was historically incorrect and the change was for accuracy, or if the change was simply made to lower the ESRB rating through censorship, but Nintendo has a nasty history of the latter. The past two titles in the series also displayed far more PDA in their cut scenes. It does beg the question, does it not?

The main flaw of this game, however, lies not in its main collection of playable characters, but in its custom characters.

The customization system in Samurai Warriors 3 is seriously restrictive. The customization system allows for the color alteration of pre-designed sets for the "Headgear", which is basically the hair and any hats; the "Face"; the "Torso", including the arms; and the "Legs". The male sets include maybe 12 faces, all but 2 of which are rather old. The 10 headgear sets are all helmets except for one ponytail. The 5 Torso sets are bulky for the most part. And the 5 leg sets are designed only to match one of the Torso sets. This makes for a majority of combinations which result in old men in big metal or furry armor. Graceful young male custom characters are difficult to create. The female sets only include 3 of each kind, with the exception of headgear (which numbers at about 6). This again restricts variety severely.

Another downfall for the custom characters is that they cannot max out their stats.

However, these flaws are quite common and should be expected in any custom character system, as no one seems to care much about that feature in the long run except players. And players do not make the game...

All in all, a great game with a few pet peeves of mine. I greatly enjoy this game and hope to god that its sequel and the other members of its series appear on the Wii too.

Honest reviews on Samurai Warriors 3 - Nintendo Wii

The game play is a little slower than in previous Samurai Warrior games but the pretty graphics make up for that. If you are a fan of the first two games or any of the Dynasty Warrior games then this should be a slum dunk for you. You can use the nunchuck, classic, or gamecube controller systems to play this game. Hours of fun game play and tons of cool characters make this game nice buy. All in all it gets a 9 out of 10.

This game is pretty fun, if you are already a fan of the series. It has that classic feel of going in and wrecking a bunch of dudes, something I've been missing since I played Dynasty Warriors 3 on the PS2. Although the game tends to expect you to move really fast; sometimes it feels like it does expect you to be in two places at once. But I can forgive that.
