Ok, I had already figured based on the description that this was just a Western Digital drive on which HDDHacker had been used to make it impersonate an official Microsoft Drive.

I did however expect the company to do it correctly in using the right tools, right settings, creating all the partitions and adding the files so it would work 100% like an official drive.

First they failed to do as recommended for newer WD drives, and use WD's utility to disable the power management defaults and set it to always BEFORE HACKING AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE AFTER WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE!!!

Second, if you use the drive here you will NOT have the ability to play Xbox 1 games. Backwards Compatibility is broken because they FAILED to follow all the steps and create the missing partitions via clones of an official drive. They failed to add the Backwards Compatibility files. The Backwards Compatibility installer from Microsoft will install the update but without the MISSING partitions and files the update doesn't work and you can not run ANY backwards Compatible games.

Further proof, take your fingernail and pop the shell open to see the drive is a Western Digital WD3200BEVT drive. However, if you connect it to a PC, since HDD Hacker was used to modify the drive's internal firmware to match the Security Sector information so it would look like a Microsoft drive, connecting this drive to a PC will have it report as Seagate ST932032 5AS.

So this drive essentially comes with NO WARRANTY.

They should at least do the hack correctly or stop selling this broken junk.

this product definitely met my expectations. I only had a few mb of storage left so I needed something fast. it was at a very cheap cost from what it would cost you from microsoft and it worked perfectly fine. I have also recommended this priduct to my friends about this product and they looked into buying one themselves. this is a great buy!!

I got this hard drive and was glad to have such a big one for such a low price. I quickly learned that I was unable to play my xbox originals. :( I went ahead and searched for hours without any luck. I was so happy with what I bought that I decided to buy another one because it would have cost me twice as much to buy one from Microsoft.

Note: You need someone with xbox live to make your xbox hard drive backwards compatible. Do not fear though because you could just go to a friends house who has xbox live and use their account or make a silver xbox account.
