The game is still very fun for individual entertainment, but much harder than the original XBOX game.

This game is pure fun. I enjoy the challenge of PGR and the lifelike feel to Forza. Flatout is just a good time.To look at it, one would not necessarily think it is similar to MarioKart. However, I find the gameplay very similar nothing too complex, your turns don't have to be great, there's a lot of attacking your opponents and you take great pride in destroying their vehicles, similar to nailing somebody with a red shell.
The game certainly doesn't take the place of the other racers, but is a great, and cheap, complement.
I found the graphics to be great as well, with tons of debris flying around the track and responding to your actions.

I own Flatout 2 and I cherish it. It's not a perfect game but it's so much fun. When I first looked at the cover of the game I thought that this new version would be more about the street class. Maybe the makers of the game had forsaken my favorite parts of the game and shortened the derby and race classes. So for a long time I was content to just play Flatout 2.As you can tell I did give it a chance, and I'm happy to report Flatout 2 is alive and well inside of Ultimate Carnage. In fact, all the same cars and tracks are in here. There are changes to the game, but in general they're all improvements. Most notable are better graphics, more racers (from 8 to 12), a couple new cars, and the option of using a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. That's a very big deal to a die hard of the racing genre.
The game isn't perfect though. The soundtrack is pretty good, but repetitive. A great soundtrack would include the soundtrack from Flatout 2 and this one. The driving physics can make it hard to drive with precision, so yes it's still an arcade game. The upgrades aren't very realistic either. I've never heard of a clutch increasing top speed except here.
It's hard to believe before playing it, but even though dirt showdown is years newer, Flatout seems to have it beat easily.

This game is just badass. These guys knew what we wanted & gave it to us. Big crashes, fun races, a good career mode. Just tons of fun.The one flaw, and the only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because it doesnt have split-screen multi-player.

Why has this game recieved such little attention? This must be the best racing game I have ever played. Burnout simply does not compare to the amount of fun you get out of flatout. There are a wide variety of game modes to choose from ranging from a normal race, stunt modes and good ole deathmatch derbys where you go around crashing into each other till the death.
The diversity of cars to choose from helps keep things interesting as you can choose from derby, race, street class and the infamous bonus cars. Each class of cars has about twelve cars to choose from and they are all balanced, each having their strengths and weaknesses. Also all the cars are fully customizable with upgrades and paint jobs.
The graphics are simply beautiful and had me awe-struck more than a few times.
The environments are almost fully destructible and any debris left from any kind of crash is left scattered across the playing field throughout the entire play session. All the cars are also almost fully destructible. I've found myself driving around with a wheele or two missing more than once.
The gameplay is not completely realistic as others have stated. The developers added their own flavor of flatout gameplay (No pun intended) but still manages to give the player the impression of a realistic driving experience. It is essentially this flatout gamplay that makes the game so much fun.
If you are like me and feel that you are drowning in a sea of games that are lacking that fun factor, then get Flatout: Ultimate Carnage and get a fresh breath of fun.
