To really be honest with you, I really enjoy a whole lot of sports classics that have came out for the Nintendo Gamecube. Arguably, there just could've been a little more when it comes to baseball. I see so much more with football classics like EA's Madden, and basketball classics like NBA Street. However, I really haven't seen all that much for baseball. Midway has really changed all that for the better. Since their days creating such wild and wacky games like NBA Jam, and NFL Blitz, they bring more outragousness with out of the ordinary acrade sports games. Now, they have really outdone themselves.MLB Slugfest 2003 for the Nintendo Gamecube, is a wild and extreme baseball classic. You have all of the great classic teams of baseball like Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and the Florida Marlins, compete in baseball gone haywire. In this game, the baseball game goes beyond traditional, with wild pitches, and moves where you can have the pitcher actually hit the batter as a option. The graphics are outstanding, as well as all the great stadiums like Fenway Park, The Kingdome, and Shea Stadium, being graphically showcased well. The control is a bit shaky at first with trying to get the right camera angles especially, but it is very easy to actually pick up with a little practice. The game goes beyond ordinary with bonuses like hidden stadiums to unlock, and other attributes. The game also delivers in traditional exhibition, season, and tournament modes.
Even though Midway has really hit it off, it is just a shame they haven't put out a great sports game like this, considering more of them are placed for the Playstation 2, and Xbox. Still, MLB Slugfest 2003, is a true delight for anybody who really loves the world of baseball on the Nintendo Gamecube.
