After having several of the cheap, flimsy official XBox 360 headsets break over the years, I finally decided to upgrade to a sturdier one. After doing a LOT of research, I decided to try out the new Gamecom X95 from Plantronics. While Turtle Beach offers excellent headsets, I found the prices a little too beyond my range, especially for the wireless ones (Turtle Beach X31, X41). I know Plantronics is new to this market, but from using their telephone headsets frequently at work, I knew they boasted very high quality. While an official, wired Xbox 360 headset will run you around $20, I managed to get these for $33 through Amazon's Warehouse Deals (with free shipping). If they were not to my satisfaction, I would have just returned them for a refund. To my delight, they have proven to be an outstanding headset. The sound quality is exceptional; I was surprised to see that it wasn't Dolby Surround Sound after listening to them. It's so good that you'd swear they were. There's a lot of bass, and you'll pick up on things you'd never hear just through your television. The setup was simple, although the instructions could have been a little more detailed. You just plug the audio outputs (red and white cables) from the XBox through the ones included with the adapter, pop in the batteries, plug into your controller, and you're good to go. Keep in mind the wireless is only the sound from the television; you still have to plug into the controller to chat. With that in mind, if you wanna save the batteries, you can leave the headset feed from the television off but still use the chat function without draining them. They are much more stylish and comfortable than your basic XBox 360 headset. The earphones are nicely padded, and I haven't noticed any discomfort with wearing them for a long period of time. A great advantage of these headphones is that you can mute your television while still receiving the volume input through the headphones, preventing others from being annoyed at the loudness. In that regard, they'd be excellent for watching DVDs or Netflix while not disturbing others. The mic can be shortened and tucked away under the left earpiece for convenience. Honestly, my only complaint is that the wire from the headset to the controller is a little bit short; for most intents and purposes, it's fine, but it could use a little more range. That's just getting nitpicky though. I was extremely fortunate to get them for so cheap. I would be willing to spend much more for a headset of this quality. Fortunately, you don't have to. For $59, this headset is a steal next to the more expensive alternatives. You won't regret it!

Well I've been looking around for a great headset. One thats gonna be strong and have great sound quality. I've used other headsets in the past and liked them however they broke rather easy and at 80 dollars plus they shouldn't. This headset is great very durable and the sound quality rivals the popular brands in the same market. Ive used a pair of Triton's and Turtle Beach's and the sound quality out of these is the same or better. Please remebr they are not dolby digital 5.1 or better they are sterio But you will be impressed and pleased with this set.

I picked this headset up at Frys for $65 about a month ago because of the price and the fact it was wireless. I surfed the reviews from my phone and people had good things to say. The set up was easy, fits nice, and does not hurt the ears, and the weight is not to bad so prolonged wearing does not get to out of control. These are what works well for the headset. For the price not to bad, but I would suggest looking for another pair, and this is why.

The first thing I do not like is the fact it takes double AA batteries, I am not sure how long they last because I have pretty much stopped using the headset and have gone back to the regular old xbox headset. The reason is because the headset does not stay connected. i have the receiver right in front of the TV (in line of sight of my headset) and I am sitting about 5 feet from the receiver on my couch. If I stay in the center of the couch and sit on the edge it works for a while, but if I sit back (I have a deep couch) or move to a side I will lose sync. I tried it one more time today and finally got fed up with re syncing the headset when ever I sat back or shifted to far away.

I would suggest looking into the Logitec wireless headset, I myself have not used it but my brother just got his, (he has a similar setup at his house, distance wise) and said he has no issues. His headset is also chargeable (while playing if needed). It is a little bit more pricey but the extra $40 you spend on this one will be what you spend on batteries over the next year on the playtronics headset.

Honest reviews on Plantronics Gamecom X95 - Xbox 360

Santa brought this for Christmas, but didn't bring the extra parts needed to make it work with our Xbox. I guess he thought that using an HDMI was a fairly standard way to connect your xbox, but apparently it's not. When I called the Plantronics support hotline, they looked but couldn't find a solution to make this work when connecting with an HDMI cable. They stated they don't normally get a lot of calls on this product.

I'm just a mom, not a gamer or a technical expert. After researching on the internet, I determined the easiest way to make this work was to purchase an Xbox Audio Adaptor Gen RCA Audio Cable Adapter for XBOX 360 + Slim. Amazon sells them for around $5 plus shipping. They were out of stock when I needed it, and my son was anxious to get these working, so we went down to Best Buy and purchased one for $20. I sure would have loved if Plantronics would have included this piece in the box.

After that, set-up was extremely simple. Plug the Audio Adaptor into the back of the Xbox. From the wireless transmitter, take the red and white cables and plug into the audio adaptor, along with the usb cable. Then simply take the pigtail and attach the headset to the controller.

The result? Fabulous. As I write this, my son is singing at the top of his lungs to music I cannot hear! I no longer need to hear the friends who he is playing with online, in my living room, and no longer need to worry about them hearing conversations going on in the rest of the house!

I'll let you read the other reviews regarding quality, etc, I just thought this info might be helpful to others. I tried them on during set-up and they sounded great. All-in-all an excellent purchase.

I used these for quite a while until I got some wired 5.1 dolby digital headphones to replace them. This headset is really nice. Not that hard to setup, expecially compared to 5.1 headphones.

First off, the plush ear cushions are absolutely comfortable. They sort of have a squareness that caves in smaller going down the ear so its a nice even covering of the ear basically the shape of a trapezoid. The ear pieces themselves can be popped off being that I think its the right side houses the battery compartment. They have to be turned as if your... maybe winding a clock think that way? Because I tried sliding them and broke one of the plastic holder thingy's so be careful. It still held the ear piece on even after breaking one off. Speaking of the batteries, these things are wireless so they eat batteries like crazy. If you play a good bit like me, definitely invest in two sets of rechargeable batteries. One for playing with and to have ready for when you need to recharge the used ones. The mic I think I used once, can't remember. But you can see in the picture that it slides in by the left ear piece. Really nice design there on top of the whole headset itself being designed quite well. I think I've covered everything. The ear pieces are nice plush covers, and there is a band for the top of your head as well for comfort.

I definitely recommend these for medium range budget if you can't afford expensive wireless. These are absolutely great apart from battery consumption.
